Understanding the Unbiased Estimator
Terms: 1estimator, estimate (noun), parameter, bias, variance, sufficient statistics, best unbiased
estimator. The Department of Finance and Actuarial Science have recently introduced a new way to
help actuarial science students by hiring tutors. All tutors were selectively picked by the Dean of the
department based on their overall performance. Any student that faces any problem regarding actuarial
science subject can visit the tutor. The tutor room is available every Monday till Friday 8AM to 5PM.
The tutor room is open to make sure that students get help for their actuarial science subject.
2However, is it reasonable that the tutor room is open from 8AM to 5PM? How many students will
actually want to visit the tutor room at the opening hours? The answers to these questions would help
the Department of Finance and Actuarial Science to reduce its hiring expenses by determining the
number of tutor they should hire. By estimating the average number of students who will visit the
tutor room during the opening hours, we can determine whether the Department of Finance and
Actuarial Science can close down the tutor room during some specific hours so that they can reduce
the hiring expenses. Firstly, we need to identify the distribution needed for this test. 3As the numbers
of students who will visit the tutor room during the opening hours are subject to the timing students
usually study and all this and would not affect one another, this random variable is independently and

Jewish Resistance During Ww2
JEWISH RESISTANCE: Jewish resistance is a very untold and important part of World War II. As the
war grew and the Nazi s occupied many European countries, resistance grew and intensified. Those
who could escape the ghettos and work camps joined partisan groups. In the early 1940 s,
underground resistance movements developed in about 100 ghettos. There were about 20,000 30,000
Jewish Partisans and their main goal was to break out of the ghettos, save as many Jews as they could,
and fight against the Germans. Many Jews operated as partisans, whether as part of individual Jewish
units or as members of non Jewish units (Yad Vashem, n.d.). Although there was a much greater
network of Gestapo and SS Guards, Jewish partisans mainly operated within Nazi occupied Eastern
Europe including the Ukraine, Belorussia, Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania,
Hungary, and Poland as well as France, Belgium, Greece, and Italy. Eastern Europe, especially
Belorussia, the western Ukraine, and Lithuania had a wide array of forests and swamps which were
ideal for guerrilla warfare. Unlike Eastern Europe, it was impossible to form partisan groups in
Western Europe because of the open terrain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approximately 20,000 Jews had survived. These Jews had become a workforce for the Germans until
the ghetto was liquidated in 1943. Only about 2,000 to 3,000 Jews survived this liquidation. Before
the liquidation, there was a Jewish resistance movement but it did not last very long because of the
upcoming liquidation. The Jewish resistance members fought against the Germans when they began to
deport more Jews. Only a few of the ghetto fighters survived the final destruction of the ghetto and
they joined other existing partisan

Fallacies In The Logical Structure Of The Argument
What is logic? What is a fallacy? Well both, logic and fallacy almost mean the same thing or even
relate to one another. According to quora.com, a fallacy is a pattern of reasoning that is always wrong.
This is due to a flaw in the logical structure of the argument which renders the argument invalid.
However, there are many fallacies out there but the three main ones. First, there is appeal to authority,
Second, there is begging the question. Third, there is attacking the person. It is important for a student
to understand fallacies as well as logic and how they relate to each other.
To begin with, the first main fallacy is when the writer is appealing to authority. According to

According to www.logicallyfallacious.com, the definition of attacking the person is when Attacking
the person making the argument, rather than the argument itself, when the attack on the person is
completely irrelevant to the argument the person is making. In other words, it is when the person
talking is being attacked personally is attacked by thing that do not relate to the subject that he or she
are talking about. However, the first example of attacking the person is Jane says that drug use is
morally wrong, but she is just a goody two shoes Christian, so we don t have to listen to her. . Another
example is, That claim cannot be true. Dave believes it, and we know how morally repulsive he is.
However, there are also a few examples from the story called Love is a Fallacy which are relating to
the fallacy attacking the person The first example from the story is when Dobie says Petey, are you in
love with Polly Espy and Petey says I think she s a keen kid . The second example from the story is
when Petey says What s Polly to me, or me to Polly ? To conclude, these are all the examples and
details about the fallacy attacking the

Pros And Cons Of The Government Shutdown
November 14, 1995 is a day that is remembered by some as a terrible day in history. While November
19, 1995 is a day most Americans are grateful for. These are the dates the government shutdown, and
the date that the shutdown concluded and the headaches were over for the citizens of America. Or so
they thought. A partial government shutdown again proceeded to happen on December 16, 1995 to
January 6, 1996. It is days like this that made America what it is today (E. Green). In 1995 President
Bill Clinton and Republican House were in a stalemate. They could not agree on budget spending. The
Republican House was primarily led by house speaker Newt Gingrich. Clinton and Gingrich were
fighting over how the budget should be cut. Contrary to popular ... Show more content on

President Bill Clinton obtained many of his votes due to how he handled the shutdown and the
Republican house. Potentially, if Clinton didn t have to manage the shutdown then he may have not
been reelected. Maybe America would have been better off with a new president, but we cannot
change that past. What is done is done and we have to live with our choices that we have made. When
people think of the government shutdown many think of quite simply the downfalls. This is most
logically because the negatives of a government shutdown over power the positives. Just like most
things though, there were some plus sides to the shutdown. Gingrich stated that the shutdown led to a
balanced budget deal, and without the shutdown it may have never been arrived at (E. Green) Neither
side ever wanted the issue to become so out of hand that it was forced to shut down, but that is what it
led to. The shutdown was tough for both sides. Most Americans believe that the shutdown was the
Republicans fault, (National Journal) but it was actually fault on both sides. Both sides were too
bullheaded to realize the consequences that could arise and solve their problems without a fight. There
is no perfect way to solve this problem. Mainly because it is over a big issue. Potentially if one side
would have been more willing to work together, maybe some of the dispute could have been resolved

The Effect of High Light Wavelengths on Pollen Tube Growth on Impatiens walleriana
Introduction
Flower reproduction is highly influenced by various environmental factors including external
temperature, moisture, and light. Each needs to be at a desired level for the flower to contain mature,
viable pollen. Pollen grains, being one of the most important factors of the flower s ability to
reproduce, need all these factors as well to become viable.
Solar radiation has become an expanding factor over the years caused by increased weather climates
and in turn causes reductions of the ozone layer in the atmosphere [6]. Most researchers have been
correlating this growing trend with agricultural vegetation success, damaging their vital tissues for ...

Made with all data obtained with each treatment using R program. Red light seemed to have a higher
mean length but the standard error of flashlight could have made an impact on their mean length
values, which could easily overcome red light. There is a statistically significant difference between
red and blue light. (n=30; un paired t test: P=7.79E 08). (Outliers red 583um, 549um).
It can be concluded that the flower treated with red light wavelength of 620 to 750 nm had similar
mean lengths of pollen tube elongation as the positive influence of flashlight treated flower with a
production of all wavelengths. Contrastingly the blue wavelength of 450 to 495 nm had a smaller
mean tube length compared to both flashlight and red light while still being longer than the negative
influence of sunlight.
Analysis:
In order to determine the correlation of the pollen tube length means collected from all four groups of
data, a one way ANOVA test was performed. The results only showed a significant difference towards
red and blue treated pollen with a p value of P=7.79E 08 (one way ANOVA). Based on this data, the
red illuminated flower produced longer pollen tubes, and since the means can be considered unequal
from one way ANOVA and there is a significant difference between red and blue tube lengths, our
hypothesis is supported that a higher wavelength of light is beneficial for flower reproduction
enhancing pollen tube

Criminal Mind Vs. The Criminal Brain
Do criminal minds differ from how average people think and act? According to neuroscience; criminal
brains, when scanned show that they differ in how it looks and works. The brain of a criminal suffer
usually from depression and stress which shows in the brain when cat scanned. An average person s
brain differs because they have less stress and will rarely suffer from depression unlike a criminals
brain. Criminals usually suffer from depression because of the guilt or regrets that come from
committing a crime. The brain of a criminal is different than the brain of an average person because an
average person has a healthy living environment unlike criminals with many problems and obstacles

Cantilena Spring Research Paper
Cantilena spring Cantilena Springs, now known as Edward Vincent Jr Park, is located on the corner of
Warren Lane and Park Avenue in the city of Inglewood. The park being two minutes across the street
from my apartment, is one of the major reasons why I choose this historical site. The park is located
by the 105 freeway in the heart of Inglewood surrounded by many residential buildings. The huge
park has many visually stimulating and pleasurable attributes. There are various pathways in the park
and these pathways are surrounded by a large amount of big trees, which serve as shade for people
when the weather is sunny. This park being a historical site attracts a variety of people, which makes it
very busy, lively and welcoming. Cantilena Park has a lot of playgrounds with a spacious green
landscape for people to relax and spend time with their families and loved ones. The park looks well
conserved, clean and smells really sweet. This park today is being preserved because of its social and

Centered Therapy And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Etiology of Problems Person Centered
Therapists don t use standardized diagnostic tools to assess client presenting problems as a way to
avoid the kinds of labels that harm client therapist relationships and as a way to avoid clumping clients
together with others of the same condition. A more important initial goal for Person Centered
Therapists is to ensure that the student or client knows and believes that the therapist sees them all as
individuals and values them. In this sense, Person Centered Therapy is more of a mindset or approach
than a list of strategies. Carl Rogers outlined six factors necessary for growth in a therapeutic setting,
and beginning sessions will focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Major Interventions A Person Centered Therapy relationship often begins with a conversation about
informed consent, which stresses openness and acceptance and warns that being in counseling isn t
easy and it s never an emotionally neutral experience (Sommers Flanagan, p. 167). This can set the
tone of empowerment of and respect for the client. Once empathy and unconditional positive regard
for the student or client are established, a Person Centered Therapist maintains a person centered way
of being. Though PCT does not employ a list of concrete strategies or techniques, it does require a set
of attitudes. In contemporary practice, Motivational Interviewing has become an accepted technique.
It involves a more directed approach than traditional PCT, but maintains a respectful, empathic
relationship with unconditional positive regard. Through MI, a Person Centered Therapist will
instruct, advise, and persuade the client or student to identify the core feelings and thoughts
surrounding their apparent ambivalence toward a problematic issue. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is
an endeavor to support students or clients as they explore their irrational, dysfunctional thoughts and
beliefs, and develop more rational beliefs and thoughts as well as skills to cope with their maladaptive
thoughts and inner speech. The initial session will include a statement of

There is little difference between teachers and students at Trinity High School because both teachers

There is little difference between teachers and students because both teachers and students use

Archie gives another assignment to Goober, which is to partially unscrew every screw in the chairs
and tables of Brother Eugene s room number nineteen. However, The Goober follows the assignment
therefore showing no punishment. Similarly, the teachers demonstrate punishments when someone
does something wrong. Brother Leon accuses Bailey for cheating because he gets straight A s. He
threatens Bailey to a punishment. After Brother Leon has a talk with Bailey, he accuses the class for
not sticking up for their classmate. Brother Leon gives everyone an assignment to sell fifty boxes of
chocolates each. Thus, this manifests how teachers give out assignments. This system of assignments
and punishments is so ingrained in the school that they do not want to disturb the

Analysis Of Franz Shubert s The Erlking
To my fellow budding vocalists, the Romantic Era was a time period in which music was bursting at
the seems; many composers were experimenting with the power of musical devices, which was
extremely evident in Franz Shubert s The Erlking . This piece of music that was originally a poem
depicts the gruelling story of a son with his father, travelling on a horse by night. The boy notices a
dark being (The Erlking) that is slowly advancing towards him; however, the father dismisses these
thoughts and reassures him that there is nothing there. Eventually, the boy realises he has been
attacked by The Erlking, soon being taken by the pillars of death. In pieces such as The Erkling ,
Franz Schubert was considered as a creative composer who was among the initial artists in the
Romantic Era; he employed emotion and a sense of purpose within his compositions. Hence, I believe
that Franz Schubert s Lied The Erlking consistently unified poetry and music to compliment the
Romantic era, purposefully creating drama and sound because of the various musical elements utilized
throughout the piece. The musical elements that are explored in order to prove the hypothesis
comprise of Melody and Dynamics, with the analysis of each character s development: The Narrator,
the Erkling, the father and the son.
The unification of poetry and music to create drama in this piece was achieved through the use of the
characters and their melodic context. The narrator begins singing in the minor key of G

The Corruption Of The Puritans In New England In 1639
Deciding that religious freedom is worth the risks, the puritans crossed the sea. Puritans were
reformed protestants and believed that the church of England was still too much like it was before.
They believed the church of was corrupt. They didn t break from the church but sought to reform it, so
they set out for the New World in the 1630. When they arrived in the New England area they decided
to start a new colony. The puritans were very strict and didn t tolerate other religions.
Thomas Hooker was the founder of Connecticut colony and a prominent puritan minister. His most
famous sermon was on May 31, 1638 on Principles of Government. This influenced the fundamentals
of government in 1639. Roger Ludlow wrote most of the fundamentals of government,

The 400 Blows Analysis
The 400 Blows is a French New Wave film made in 1959, directed by François Truffaut as his debut
feature film. The film focuses on the trials and tribulations of a young adolescent named Antoine
Doinel played by Jean Pierre Léaud, who is growing up in Paris during the early 1950s. While trying
to find freedom from the craziness of life, Antoine is faced with overcoming loneliness and the harsh
consequences on his unexplained actions. Inspired by Truffaut s personal life, the director expresses
pivotal moments of his own childhood through a rendition of Antoine. Truffaut s directorial premiere

We see from clever fades Jump cuts, match cuts and various long takes. Truffaut does this in an effort
to move forward his vision of the auteur theory. The opening sequence uses a series of high angle
shots to assist in establishing a feeling of childhood innocence and indeed, the child in this film,
Antoine Dionel (Jeanne Pierre Leaud), starts out innocent. The camera focuses of the city buildings
and the sky above. As shown from a ground point of view, the buildings are larger than life and
intimidating. This is how most children view the world, as being large and intimidating. Take, for
example, the scenario of dropping a child off for his/her first day of school. Most of them are
devastated because they have to deal with a world that is larger than the one they know, and that is
intimidating. The sky is vast and innocent, symbolizing a child s mind. Children have incredible
imaginations and are also innocent by nature. There is a definite correlation here between the angle
selected and the sense of childhood innocence. However, this particular camera angle does not always

Colonialism In Teresia
What is colonialism? Colonialism is occupying one s land with or without the permission of the
natives of the land and later on occupying it with settlers and utilizing it economically.
Colonialism began in 1500s by European nations such as France, Portugal, England, and Spain.
European nations began to colonize through Americas, India, Middle East, and South East Asia.
Part of the logic behind colonialism was to modernize the colonized countries. Various
European nations had also control over the south pacific islands. The first Oceania colonies were
Australia and New Zealand. Soon after, French seized French Polynesia and New Caledonia.
Writers such Kathy Jetnil Kijiner, Teresia Teaiwa, and Dina El Dessouky have spoken about the harsh

being happy, healthy, or prosperous. MSN Encarta says Well being is having good fortune or health.
Emotional well being, like physical health, can be judged on a variety of dimensions. Yet, in both
realms, it is difficult to say which of these dimensions are essential for overall well being. Can I say

At the same time I believe the support of my family as well as my fiancé has helped to foster my sense

A parliamentary democracy is a democratic form of government in which the party with the greatest

Indian higher education is not only large in scope but complex in its working and evolution. One
indicator is existence of four different types of universities depending on who funds them and

mostly funded by private resources. They were also in controversy for corruption and qualitative
deficiencies for profiteering. This also tainted the name of some of the better quality private Deemed

Fuzzy Thinking Analysis
In IT Foundations, I was assigned by Mrs. Baumaster to watch the video Fuzzy Thinking. The speaker
in this video is an Astrophysicist by the name of Neil deGrasse Tyson. In the video, Fuzzy Thinking he
talked about many things like what was wrong with the misspellings of the word Cat and about his
choice between hiring two workers. The video did not seem very interesting at first but as I watched it,
the video got more and more interesting. Tyson is a very good presenter in the video because he made
it interesting and fun to listen to him. All in all, this video was a great way to get his message out on
how people think. I answered 5 questions that Mrs. Baumaster asked about the video Fuzzy Thinking.
Fuzzy Thinking is when people are not thinking straight. I know this is correct because right after he
said fuzzy thinking he told the audience the definition of it. The misspelling of the word cat is a very
complex question. One misspelling is spelled as XQT and the other is spelled as KAT but they are
considered equally as wrong even though one sounds like cat and the other does not. Tyson s is an
astrophysicist which is similar to being an astronomer. Astrophysicists study the physics of space. I
think this is a very cool job and it would also be very interesting as well as fun. The two job
candidates were very different from one another. The first job candidate had knowledge of the
building because they studied architecture beforehand. They knew the spire is 155ft

Capote s Control Over Language
By using vivid sentences with descriptive details and keen word choices, Capote is able to paint an
image of Holcomb as a soft, easygoing town. When working on this novel, Truman Capote traveled to
Holcomb, Kansas to gather information by conducting interviews with the residents and talking to the
police, reading newspapers, and interrogating Hickock and Smith in their jail cells. His visits, as well
as his writing career, give him the proper credibility to write about this famed town. Capote s rendition
of the tragedy of one night on a Kansas farm as he tells it in his unique literary genre adds to the

The opening paragraphs of In Cold Blood pack so many details of scenery with its high wheat plains,
white cluster of grain elevators, and hard blue skies down to the direst mud roads that it reflects the
peaceful nature of the town. The words high, white, and blue symbolize purity; even the mud roads
indicate a natural, untainted presence that connotes benevolence. Further, Capote uses a lot of commas
in his writing, for example, he writes, The land is flat, and the views are awesomely extensive; horses,
herds of cattle, a white cluster of grain elevators rising as gracefully as Greek temples are visible
before a traveler reaches them. This further communicates the monotonous tone of the piece by having
longer pauses with the use of commas contributing to a feeling of tranquility in the town. In addition,
unusual comparisons like the grain elevators rising like Greek temples stimulate the mind to take
notice of the description. Immediately, a picture portrays a time back in history when a simpler time is

Funk Carioca Research Paper
By 1989, DJ Marlboro, an essential pioneer in the genre of funk carioca music, released his first
album Funk Brasil which contained Portuguese covers of popular Miami bass songs (Filho 229). Funk
Brasil went on to be so successful that Brazilian media outlets began to report on the explosive
trajectory of funk carioca. Thus, the genre was truly became familiar to the public eye by the early 90s
(Filho 229). Popular nightclubs for middle class Brazilians began to host special nights dedicated to
funk carioca while radio stations played an active role in promoting Brazilian funk festivals and
playing recordings from baile funks across the city of Rio de Janeiro (Filho 230). Overall, the
representation of funk carioca was fairly neutral until 1992 (Filho 229). That year, a group of young
criminals known as arrastãos were arrested on a beach in the south side of Rio de Raneiro. The local
news carried the story and depicted images of social disorder as teenage gangs fought amongst each
other (Filho 230). As a response, funk carioca, the cultural expression of slums and trademark of the
youth from Rio de Janeiro s favelas, was highlighted in the media as a key source to the malfeasance
of the poor youth (Filho 230). The arrastãos at the beach were identified as funkieros who promot[ed]

lyrics. The exoticization of funk carioca is particularly dangerous because it merely presents the genre
as void, vulgar music and strips Brazilian funk of its cultural significance to the residents of Brazilian

Difference Between Market Economy And Mixed Economy
In order for a country to run, it needs to sustain a stable economy. A country can choose one of the
three economies; Market economy, Planned economy, and Mixed economy. Market economy is
primarily based on supply and demand and is described as a shift right on the economic spectrum. As
well, resources are privately owned by businesses rather than the government. Market economy is
primarily controlled by the consumers who drive the economic decision making with little government
involvement. Words such as Individualism and Capitalism can be used to describe Market Economy.
However, no country can ever be a 100% market economy even though countries such as The United
States of America are extremely far right on the economic spectrum. Planned Economy is primarily
controlled and managed by the government with little intervention from the consumers and is
described as a shift left on the economic spectrum. Also, in a planned economy, the government makes
decisions regarding scarcity and also finds solutions on how to terminate it by varying the production,
distribution, and consumption of products. Collectivism can also be used to describe Planned
Economies. However, similarly to market economies, no country can ever be 100% Planned Economy
even though countries such as North Korea fall extremely far left on the economic spectrum. A
mixture of both these economies would be described as a mixed economy and it would be placed
centrally on the economic spectrum. Resources are

Each of these areas has a historic recorded hit by one or more major hurricanes. Because hurricane
winds start at 75 mph and can reach up to 156 miles per hour or more, the damage of the winds can be
extensive (NOAA). Winds will rip the roof off of a house or tip over a mobile home. Debris is

tornado winds cause extra natural destruction. Finally, what little natural habitat is left untouched by
humans can be fully devastated by hurricane aftermath.
Most Atlantic hurricanes start out in the North Atlantic Ocean, which is called the hurricane breeding

The Wines Of Spain ( California )
The Wines of Spain
During my young and foolish years, I was a confirmed wine snob; at least as it applied to the red
wines I drank. If they didn?t come from Bordeaux, France, I didn?t consider them worthy. Typically,
my purchases would feature wines from M?doc, Margaux, Pauillac, Saint Emilion, Pomerol and
Graves. This all changed in my late forties, I was gifted with several bottles of red wine from various
countries including Australia, Chile and the United States (California). Begrudgingly, I accepted the
fact that good red wine needn?t come from France.
This oenophilia did not preclude my consumption of ?inferior? wines; it merely dispatched them to a
list of wines I would never consider buying for myself. I assumed that if I couldn?t ... Show more

Nevertheless, despite my experience in Colorado, I did start expanding my horizons with red wines
until my forties.
I had learned of the pleasures of the red wines from Piedmont, Italy. The incredible richness of
Australian Shiraz proved it as an acceptable alternative to its Rhone Valley cousin. However, it took
another experience with Rioja in my early fifties to start my exploration of Spanish wines.
Overview
To do justice to the subject of Spanish wines requires more than a single post, coverage befitting the
third largest producer of wine, behind France and Italy, simply cannot be done within the limits of a
single short article and summarization does a disservice to the exceptional wine making reputation of
Spain?s dedicated vintners.
Any worthwhile discussion of Spain?s wine making needs to include, at a minimum, an overview of
the wine making regulations, under which vintners operate, the labeling requirements and what that
means that means to consumers. After ?lo these concepts are covered, a discussion of the wine
growing areas, the grape varietals and the resulting wines produces a sharper picture of Spain?s wines.
A Brief Historical Perspective
Spain has been growing grapes and making wine for centuries, with traditions as reputable as from
any of the other European wine countries. However, the events of the past few decades, from the
1980s until now have resulted in something of a revolution in

After 1970 he was never committed to the hospital again and refused any medication. According to
Nash, the film A Beautiful Mind inaccurately showed him taking new atypical antipsychotics during
this period. He attributed the depiction to the screenwriter (whose mother, he notes, was a
psychiatrist), who was worried about encouraging people with the disorder to stop taking their
medication.[12] Others[who?], however, have questioned whether the fabrication obscured a key
question as to whether recovery from problems like Nash s can actually be hindered by such drugs,
[13] and Nash has said they are overrated and that the adverse effects are not given enough
consideration once someone is considered mentally ill.[14][15][16] According to Sylvia Nasar, author
of the book A Beautiful Mind, on which the movie was based, Nash recovered gradually with the
passage of time. Encouraged by his then former wife, De Lardé, Nash worked in a communitarian
setting where his eccentricities were accepted. De Lardé said of Nash, it s just a question of living a
quiet life .[17] Nash dates the start of what he terms mental disturbances to the early months of 1959

Is High Fidelity Flight Simulation Necessary for Airline...
IS HIGH FIDELITY FLIGHT SIMULATION NECESSARY FOR AIRLINE PILOT TRAINING?
Abstract
One of the difficulties when objectivity looking into defining the levels of fidelity required in training
simulations is that simulators are frequently seen as replacements for training that previously would
have been conducted on the real equipment. The perception therefore is that the simulation should be
as close as possible to the real deal in order to successfully replace it. However, the genuine advantage
of using simulation in training is that where the actual equipment is designed for real operations, a
training simulator can be designed to meet specific training needs without unnecessarily extending the
fidelity of the simulation. A vital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has lead to an overemphasis on technological advancement to enhance simulation based training
(Francis Heybroek, 1992). In turn, this focus creates a lack of emphasis on the role of recreating
authentic operational scenarios which is the baseline for training airline pilots.
All this leads into another important aspect of simulation fidelity; Instructional Systems Design (ISD).
ISD is definitively linked to training effectiveness and is relative to the way in which simulator based
training is designed for the target audience. Recently there has been considerable research which
suggests that there is not a straightforward relationship between the increased realism of high fidelity
simulation and any significant enhancement in training effectiveness (National Center for Simulation,
2007). In fact, the research actually shows that increases in both efficiency and transfer of training do
occur through the careful process of ISD, and in particular the design of simulation based scenarios
that are responsive to the real operational needs of the target learner. These research results provide
the first facet that high fidelity simulation is not necessarily required for airline pilot training.
Operational Fidelity
Within the commercial aviation setting, considerable criticism has been directed at the current forms
of simulator based training for their singular focus on the

Shakespearean sonnet, which is the most simple and flexible form of all the sonnets, to tell you why
sonnets are important and why they need to be written. The Shakespearean sonnet that I will be

Each quatrain is used to develop a sequence of metaphors or ideas. The couplets are used to
summarise the sonnet or is a new take on the foregoing ideas and images. Most of Shakespearean
sonnets focus on the theme of love, beauty and worthiness. Sonnet 18 s theme focused on the stability
of love and its power to immortalize the subject about whom the poet was writing. The rhyming
couplets in this poem helps redefine the whole poem and also sums it up. It states that the poet
believes that as long as there is breath in mankind, his poetry too will live on and that the person that
is described in the poem will remain immortal. In Sonnet 18, each line is end stopped and self
contained; there is punctuation at the end of each line, which creates a pause. All of the lines between
one to nine are comparing a man to the summer s day as the first line, Shall I compare thee to a
summer s day? , helps define the comparisons that are written later on in the poem (the main axis of
comparison). From the ninth line of the poem, the volta takes place and Shakespeare switches from
describing a man with the summer day to describing the immortality of his beloved. He has
metamorphosed into the standard of how true beauty should be defined in the sestet. Shakespearean
sonnets usually have a lot of alliteration and assonance but Sonnet 18 isn t heavy with alliteration and
assonances and the language is

Eugenics, Derived From The Greek Word Eugenes Meaning Well...
Eugenics, derived from the Greek word eugenes meaning well born, is defined as the study or belief
that by encouraging people with good genetic traits to reproduce and discourage those people with less
desirable traits the human race can benefit. There were certain groups of people who were affected by
these sterilization laws, including people that were mentally disabled or ill and those from socially
unacceptable areas of life, that were adopted in 32 states starting in the 1930 s. These sterilizations
were done on over 350,000 people in the span eleven years between 1934 and 1945 (Kaelber), leading
the United States into one of the darkest parts of our history.

in order to favor certain traits such as height, color, and pod shape. He worked in the late 1850 s to the
early 1860 s. Even though farmers had been doing this similar practice for centuries, his experiments
established many of the heredity rules we now refer to as Mendelian inheritance. Around this time
another theory of genes was coming out from a man by the name of Sir Francis Galton. Galton is
credited as the Father of Eugenics and is also known for the popular phrase Nature vs Nurture . Galton
studied the upper class in Great Britain and believed came to the conclusion of their superior genetic

Karl Marx And Mill Had A Great Impact With Their Work...

world, particularly in Europe were many great philosophers came to this world with many ideas and
political philosophies in how the individual has to be treated in order to satisfy its necessities and the
necessities of its family. Freedom, alienation and many others factors were many of the threats that
society was going through in the 19th century. Philosophers like Marx and Mill had a great impact
with their work influencing new generations of thinkers. Therefore this essay will focus in the

These ideas are the main reason on Marx s conclusion on man s nature, which is incredibly important
to understand the theory of the individual. Man s nature is not abstract; a characteristic of a certain
individual. Actually it is the totally of all the social relations (Marx). In this quote the idea of man s
nature that Marx has represents a revolutionary reconstruction that would have to happen in the world
and the importance of education in the individual.
Marx s studies the theory of the individual and mainly focus in three areas, which are the complete
development of the individual, the problems of alienation and freedom.
Labour for the worker is something external not belonging to his nature...in his labour he does not
affirm himself, but denies himself, feels not happy, but unhappy, does not develop freely his physical
and spiritual energy but wears out his physical nature and destroys his spiritual force. This is why the
worker feels that he is himself only outside of working hours in the process of labour he feels he is
estranged from himself. He is himself when he is not working, and when he works he is already not
himself. (Marx)
Marx explains the idea in how the labor workers do not own they own work. Therefore, alienation is a
product from labor and it is used between capitalist societies to alienate the product of a man s labor
and his social nature. The bourgeois society will take the

Existentialism And The Absurd By Albert Camus
In studying the works of authors, we are able to see the many factors that play a key role in their lives.
These authors incorporate different components into their novels and stories to present a deeper
meaning within their work. In his various books, short stories, and plays, the French Algerian writer
Albert Camus relates to his philosophical beliefs: specifically existentialism and the absurd, as well as
his connecting idea of rebellion. Camus most prominent works such as the novels The Plague, The
Stranger, The Rebel, and others reflect these beliefs and ideas he held.
Though he was and continues to be considered as one, Camus made a point of rejecting the label of an
existentialist. Existentialism is essentially based on the idea that philosophy starts with the acceptance
of being an actual living human individual or the realization of existence. The term existence before
essence basically means that the after this recognition of existence, the essence, or qualities and
defining traits, will follow. In existentialism a fundamental belief is that each and every individual has
the responsibility of applying their own meaning to life and genuinely living life through this specific
purpose (Wikipedia contributors). In these aspects, many of Camus writings can therefore been seen
as reflecting existentialism.

Conformity In Dead Poets Society
Carpe diem, seize the day, boys, seize the day. Mr. Keating told this quote to the boys almost every
day and he wanted them to be their own individuals. While watching the movie, Dead Poets Society,
we realize how important it is to have individuality and to not conform to everyone else s normal ways
to live. The Dead Poets Society was filmed by Peter Weir in the year 1989, starring boys attending a
preparatory school, who are being forced to ideas of conformity, not being able to have their own
ideals, and dealing with their overbearing parents. Conformity is a huge deal back in 1959, you couldn
t talk back to your teachers, your parents, or anyone for that matter. Conformity can have a negative
undertone in school because students are supposed to be individual and should not have to be the same
as everyone else. Students should be able to act how they want to be who they are. Children in school
should be given their own opportunity to do what they please. Non conformity can have a positive
undertone in school because not being conformed to everyone else s norm, you are a special
individual. Being able to do as you want is good to becoming your own person and not being like
everyone else in school. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

minutes. She is always there to help me sort out through the problems in life and is always there to let

How Did The English Reformation Influence Religion
The English Reformation The English Reformation in the sixteenth century significantly influenced
religion and political ideology that would consequently impact the theology and laws formed
presently.
The English Reformation derived from King Henry VIII of England s personal desire to divorce his
Spanish wife. The Pope s refusal to grant King Henry VIII the divorce angered him, resulting in his
actions to remove ties from the Catholic Church and establish himself as the head of the Christian
faith in England (Brinkley 21). After King Henry s death, his daughter, Queen Mary, restored the
Catholic faith and persecuted Protestants. Later when Mary died, Elizabeth I, once again broke away
from Catholicism. The result of switching religions

What Is The Assassination Of Gandhi Unjust
Mohandas Gandhi was an influential leader for India s independence, whose acts to gain Indian rights,
led to him getting assassinated by Hindus that were against his ideas and motives. As Gandhi moved
to South Africa to study law, he experienced racism and South African laws that restricted the rights of
Indian laborers. He was removed from a first class railway compartment and thrown off of a train.
This was the moment of truth that made Gandhi decide to defend his rights as an Indian man and fight
injustice. Gandhi formed the Natal Indian Congress (NIC), which drew attention world wide to the
struggle Indians were facing in India. That was just the first of many steps Gandhi took in his fight to
gain Indian rights and independence from Great Britain. Although thousands of people supported
Gandhi s ideas and actions, certain groups of Hindus and Muslims felt differently about the whole
matter. They wanted to kill Gandhi for what he was doing; and on January 30th, 1948, Mohandas
Gandhi was assassinated by a Hindu fanatic named Nathuram Godse. The assassination of Mohandas
Gandhi was unjust, because he was a political and spiritual leader of the Indian independence
movement, who acted to gain independence from Britain; however, others disagreed with his actions

taxes on them to buy. These harsh conditions made life difficult for many people living in India, since
hundreds of thousands of people at the time were of the lower class. Gandhi saw the struggle Indians
were facing and wanted to change the way of life, freeing themselves from British rule. Instead of

APUSH
11 October, 2016 In 1775 General Thomas Gage, Commander if the British Force in the
Massachusetts Colony, issued orders to the troops quartered in Boston, Massachusetts to march to
Concord and and destroy the colonial military stores that were there. The reason the British were in
Massachusetts in the first place was because the people of Massachusetts were very rebellious and
have had many violent resistances against the British already. The secret orders that Gage issued were
hardly a secret and some colonials knew about this movement a week before the British moved out.
Both the British troops and the colonial militia meet each other at Lexington Green on the 19th of
April, 1775. Suddenly a bullet whizzed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John Bateman, a British soldier who was captured by the colonists said that he heard a command to
fire given to the Regulars, and that none of the colonists fired at the Regulars(3). This completely goes
against the British evidence which clearly says that they did not give the command to fire and were
giving orders to not fire. Also, since he was captured by the colonists, he obviously wants to say
something that pleases them since they are his audience. That makes his evidence unreliable since he
could have made that up to please the colonists who had captured him. Next up is Sylvanus Wood who
was a commonwealth of Massachusetts and gave a sworn testimony on June 17, 1826. He Said that
The officer then swung his sword, and said Lay down your arms, you damn d rebels, or you are all
dead men fire (5). He also said One member of the company told me, many years since, that after
Parker s company had dispersed, and he was at some distance, he gave them the guts of his gun (5).
Wood said that The British ordered their troops to fire, as well as him saying that one of the colonists
did in fact fire against the Regulars. This contradicts the fact that Bateman said that none of the
colonists fired at the Regulars while Wood is saying that at least one colonists did fire upon the
Regulars. It also seems a bit unreliable since Wood s testimony was made almost 50 years later after
the event took

Social Control Theory Essay
The social control approach to understanding crime is one of the three major sociological perspectives
in contemporary criminology. Control theorists believe that conformity to the rules of society is
produced by socialization and maintained by ties to people and institutions to family members,
friends, schools, and jobs. Put briefly, crime and delinquency result when the individual s bond to
society is weak or broken. As social bonds increase in strength, the costs of crime to the individual
increase as well.
The intellectual roots of social control theory reach back several centuries, but it was not until the
middle of the 20th century that this theory began to generate broad interest among crime researchers.
Since then, it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It assumes further that a primary cost of crime is the disapproval of the people about whom the
potential offender cares. To the extent that the potential offender cares about no one, he or she is free
to commit the crime in question. Sociologists often explain conformity as the result of such sensitivity.
Psychologists as often explain deviation as the result of insensitivity to the concerns of others.
Together, they tell us that sensitivity is a continuum and that some people have more than others and
some have less than others. This is the position adopted by control theorists. They focus on the extent
to which people are sensitive to the opinion of others and predict that this variable will predict rates of
crime and delinquency.
Sensitivity suggests feeling or emotion, and this element of the social bond indeed attempts to capture
the emotions (or lack thereof) involved in conformity and deviance. The words are many: affection,
love, concern, care, and respect, to name only some. Social control theorists use attachment as an
abstract summary of these concepts.
The evidence is clear that family attachments are strongly correlated with (non)delinquency. In their
famous book Unraveling Juvenile Delinquency, Sheldon and Eleanor Glueck (1950) indicated that,
according to their research, affection of the father and the mother for the child were two of the best
five predictors of delinquency.

Effects Of Renal Intoxication
Renal injury due to KBrO3 intoxication could be evaluated by assessment of serum urea, creatinine,
and uric acid, which were used as early indicators of renal dysfunction [39].The significant increase in
serum urea, creatinine and uric acid in the KBrO3 treated rats indicate the development of renal
dysfunction and reduced glomerular filtration rate. The increase in uric acid level also may be due to
degradation of purines and pyrimidines which strongly related to the significant increase in xanthine
oxidase activity resulted in overproduction of uric acid. The increase in xanthine oxidase activity does
not only catalyze the formation of uric acid but also generate ROS. Therefore, the elevated xanthine
oxidase activity could explain the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pro inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor α (TNF α) and IL 6, are thought to act as
a central factor in the pathophysiology of chronic kidney disorders [43]. Oxidative stress is also
involved in the inflammatory response. ROS can induce inflammatory processes by activation of
transcription factors, which induce secretion of pro inflammatory cytokines, including TNF α and IL 6
[44]. In this study, results illustrated that KBrO3 induced an inflammatory reaction indicated by
increasing renal TNF α and IL 6 levels . However, treatment with taurine and /or vanillin prior KBrO3
administration suppressed the overproduction of TNF α and IL 6 in renal tissue provided a protective
effect against kidney pathological changes. Interestingly, the observed results show that pretreatment
of rats with vanillin also caused the apparent reduction in levels of proinflammatory cytokines such as
interleukin (IL) 1β, IL 6, and tumor necrosis factor alpha . This is in accordance with the previous
results obtained [45] reported that pre treatment with vanillin resulted in a normalization

Media Violence Essay
There has been far reaching research on the link between televised violence and violent behavior
amongst adolescents. Current studies have shown a direct correlation between aggressive conduct and
watching violence depicted in many media services and suggest that media is a variable that put
children at risk of aggressive behavior (Huesmann, Moise Titus, Podolski, Eron, 1992). According to
the American Psychological Association, watching playing violent scenes them on games and
television, can desensitize children to the suffering and pain of others and may be a greater risk of
acting aggressively toward others and they re less bothered by violence in general and less likely to
see anything wrong with it. Studies disclose that children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many argue that media violence is at least partly to blame for the school shootings in Littleton,
Colorado, Taber, Alberta and Erfurt, Germany.
Proponents of the idea that violence depicted on both television and video games affects the behavior
of children state that, contrary to other beliefs, these scenes teach a higher sense of the justification of
the use of violence in different situations (Tompkins, 2003). It teaches that violence is a correct avenue
to solve differences, which is not an acceptable action within real life situations. The classic setting of
using violence for a virtuous cause may interpret in daily life into a validation for using violence to
even the score against supposed victimizers. Consequently, defenseless youth who have been
maltreated may be tempted to use aggressive means to resolve problems.
The hero in most of these scenes also teaches them that violence has no consequences because he/she
never gets in trouble for their actions. Most psychologists agree that experiences teach children during
their early years and have a longstanding effect on their lives. Toddlers between the ages of eighteen
to sixteen months are intelligent enough to comprehend the significance of the programs (Tompkins,
2003) that they watch and respond in the same manner to both actual and acted violence since their
link between dream and actuality is still not strong. Furthermore, toddlers between the ages of three
and five years are

  • 2. Understanding the Unbiased Estimator Terms: 1estimator, estimate (noun), parameter, bias, variance, sufficient statistics, best unbiased estimator. The Department of Finance and Actuarial Science have recently introduced a new way to help actuarial science students by hiring tutors. All tutors were selectively picked by the Dean of the department based on their overall performance. Any student that faces any problem regarding actuarial science subject can visit the tutor. The tutor room is available every Monday till Friday 8AM to 5PM. The tutor room is open to make sure that students get help for their actuarial science subject. 2However, is it reasonable that the tutor room is open from 8AM to 5PM? How many students will actually want to visit the tutor room at the opening hours? The answers to these questions would help the Department of Finance and Actuarial Science to reduce its hiring expenses by determining the number of tutor they should hire. By estimating the average number of students who will visit the tutor room during the opening hours, we can determine whether the Department of Finance and Actuarial Science can close down the tutor room during some specific hours so that they can reduce the hiring expenses. Firstly, we need to identify the distribution needed for this test. 3As the numbers of students who will visit the tutor room during the opening hours are subject to the timing students usually study and all this and would not affect one another, this random variable is independently and ... • 3. Jewish Resistance During Ww2 JEWISH RESISTANCE: Jewish resistance is a very untold and important part of World War II. As the war grew and the Nazi s occupied many European countries, resistance grew and intensified. Those who could escape the ghettos and work camps joined partisan groups. In the early 1940 s, underground resistance movements developed in about 100 ghettos. There were about 20,000 30,000 Jewish Partisans and their main goal was to break out of the ghettos, save as many Jews as they could, and fight against the Germans. Many Jews operated as partisans, whether as part of individual Jewish units or as members of non Jewish units (Yad Vashem, n.d.). Although there was a much greater network of Gestapo and SS Guards, Jewish partisans mainly operated within Nazi occupied Eastern Europe including the Ukraine, Belorussia, Lithuania, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Poland as well as France, Belgium, Greece, and Italy. Eastern Europe, especially Belorussia, the western Ukraine, and Lithuania had a wide array of forests and swamps which were ideal for guerrilla warfare. Unlike Eastern Europe, it was impossible to form partisan groups in Western Europe because of the open terrain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approximately 20,000 Jews had survived. The Jewish resistance members fought against the Germans when they began to deport more Jews. According to quora.com, a fallacy is a pattern of reasoning that is always wrong. This is due to a flaw in the logical structure of the argument which renders the argument invalid. However, there are many fallacies out there but the three main ones. First, there is appeal to authority, Second, there is begging the question. Third, there is attacking the person. It is important for a student to understand fallacies as well as logic and how they relate to each other. To begin with, the first main fallacy is when the writer is appealing to authority. According to www.logicallyfallacious.com, the definition of attacking the person is when Attacking the person making the argument, rather than the argument itself, when the attack on the person is completely irrelevant to the argument the person is making. In other words, it is when the person talking is being attacked personally is attacked by thing that do not relate to the subject that he or she are talking about. However, the first example of attacking the person is Jane says that drug use is morally wrong, but she is just a goody two shoes Christian, so we don t have to listen to her. . Another example is, That claim cannot be true. Dave believes it, and we know how morally repulsive he is. However, there are also a few examples from the story called Love is a Fallacy which are relating to the fallacy attacking the person The first example from the story is when Dobie says Petey, are you in love with Polly Espy and Petey says I think she s a keen kid . The second example from the story is when Petey says What s Polly to me, or me to Polly ? To conclude, these are all the examples and details about the fallacy attacking the ... • 6. Pros And Cons Of The Government Shutdown November 14, 1995 is a day that is remembered by some as a terrible day in history. While November 19, 1995 is a day most Americans are grateful for. These are the dates the government shutdown, and the date that the shutdown concluded and the headaches were over for the citizens of America. Or so they thought. A partial government shutdown again proceeded to happen on December 16, 1995 to January 6, 1996. It is days like this that made America what it is today (E. Green). In 1995 President Bill Clinton and Republican House were in a stalemate. They could not agree on budget spending. The Republican House was primarily led by house speaker Newt Gingrich. President Bill Clinton obtained many of his votes due to how he handled the shutdown and the Republican house. Potentially, if Clinton didn t have to manage the shutdown then he may have not been reelected. Maybe America would have been better off with a new president, but we cannot change that past. What is done is done and we have to live with our choices that we have made. When people think of the government shutdown many think of quite simply the downfalls. This is most logically because the negatives of a government shutdown over power the positives. Just like most things though, there were some plus sides to the shutdown. Gingrich stated that the shutdown led to a balanced budget deal, and without the shutdown it may have never been arrived at (E. Green) Neither side ever wanted the issue to become so out of hand that it was forced to shut down, but that is what it led to. The shutdown was tough for both sides. Most Americans believe that the shutdown was the Republicans fault, (National Journal) but it was actually fault on both sides. Both sides were too bullheaded to realize the consequences that could arise and solve their problems without a fight. There is no perfect way to solve this problem. Mainly because it is over a big issue. Potentially if one side would have been more willing to work together, maybe some of the dispute could have been resolved ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Spring Grow Lab Report The Effect of High Light Wavelengths on Pollen Tube Growth on Impatiens walleriana Introduction Flower reproduction is highly influenced by various environmental factors including external temperature, moisture, and light. Each needs to be at a desired level for the flower to contain mature, viable pollen. Pollen grains, being one of the most important factors of the flower s ability to reproduce, need all these factors as well to become viable. Made with all data obtained with each treatment using R program. Red light seemed to have a higher mean length but the standard error of flashlight could have made an impact on their mean length values, which could easily overcome red light. There is a statistically significant difference between red and blue light. (n=30; un paired t test: P=7.79E 08). (Outliers red 583um, 549um). It can be concluded that the flower treated with red light wavelength of 620 to 750 nm had similar mean lengths of pollen tube elongation as the positive influence of flashlight treated flower with a production of all wavelengths. Contrastingly the blue wavelength of 450 to 495 nm had a smaller mean tube length compared to both flashlight and red light while still being longer than the negative influence of sunlight. Analysis: In order to determine the correlation of the pollen tube length means collected from all four groups of data, a one way ANOVA test was performed. The results only showed a significant difference towards red and blue treated pollen with a p value of P=7.79E 08 (one way ANOVA). Based on this data, the red illuminated flower produced longer pollen tubes, and since the means can be considered unequal from one way ANOVA and there is a significant difference between red and blue tube lengths, our hypothesis is supported that a higher wavelength of light is beneficial for flower reproduction enhancing pollen tube ... Centered Therapy And Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Etiology of Problems Person Centered Therapists don t use standardized diagnostic tools to assess client presenting problems as a way to avoid the kinds of labels that harm client therapist relationships and as a way to avoid clumping clients together with others of the same condition. A more important initial goal for Person Centered Therapists is to ensure that the student or client knows and believes that the therapist sees them all as individuals and values them. In this sense, Person Centered Therapy is more of a mindset or approach than a list of strategies. Carl Rogers outlined six factors necessary for growth in a therapeutic setting, and beginning sessions will focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Major Interventions A Person Centered Therapy relationship often begins with a conversation about informed consent, which stresses openness and acceptance and warns that being in counseling isn t easy and it s never an emotionally neutral experience (Sommers Flanagan, p. 167). This can set the tone of empowerment of and respect for the client. Once empathy and unconditional positive regard for the student or client are established, a Person Centered Therapist maintains a person centered way of being. Though PCT does not employ a list of concrete strategies or techniques, it does require a set of attitudes. In contemporary practice, Motivational Interviewing has become an accepted technique. It involves a more directed approach than traditional PCT, but maintains a respectful, empathic relationship with unconditional positive regard. Through MI, a Person Centered Therapist will instruct, advise, and persuade the client or student to identify the core feelings and thoughts surrounding their apparent ambivalence toward a problematic issue. • 13. Analysis Of Franz Shubert s The Erlking To my fellow budding vocalists, the Romantic Era was a time period in which music was bursting at the seems; many composers were experimenting with the power of musical devices, which was extremely evident in Franz Shubert s The Erlking . This piece of music that was originally a poem depicts the gruelling story of a son with his father, travelling on a horse by night. The boy notices a dark being (The Erlking) that is slowly advancing towards him; however, the father dismisses these thoughts and reassures him that there is nothing there. Eventually, the boy realises he has been attacked by The Erlking, soon being taken by the pillars of death. In pieces such as The Erkling , Franz Schubert was considered as a creative composer who was among the initial artists in the Romantic Era; he employed emotion and a sense of purpose within his compositions. Hence, I believe that Franz Schubert s Lied The Erlking consistently unified poetry and music to compliment the Romantic era, purposefully creating drama and sound because of the various musical elements utilized throughout the piece. The musical elements that are explored in order to prove the hypothesis comprise of Melody and Dynamics, with the analysis of each character s development: The Narrator, the Erkling, the father and the son. The unification of poetry and music to create drama in this piece was achieved through the use of the characters and their melodic context. The narrator begins singing in the minor key of G ... While trying to find freedom from the craziness of life, Antoine is faced with overcoming loneliness and the harsh consequences on his unexplained actions. This is how most children view the world, as being large and intimidating. Take, for example, the scenario of dropping a child off for his/her first day of school. Most of them are devastated because they have to deal with a world that is larger than the one they know, and that is intimidating. The sky is vast and innocent, symbolizing a child s mind. Children have incredible imaginations and are also innocent by nature. There is a definite correlation here between the angle selected and the sense of childhood innocence. • 30. Is High Fidelity Flight Simulation Necessary for Airline... IS HIGH FIDELITY FLIGHT SIMULATION NECESSARY FOR AIRLINE PILOT TRAINING? Abstract One of the difficulties when objectivity looking into defining the levels of fidelity required in training simulations is that simulators are frequently seen as replacements for training that previously would have been conducted on the real equipment. The perception therefore is that the simulation should be as close as possible to the real deal in order to successfully replace it. However, the genuine advantage of using simulation in training is that where the actual equipment is designed for real operations, a training simulator can be designed to meet specific training needs without unnecessarily extending the fidelity of the simulation. A vital ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has lead to an overemphasis on technological advancement to enhance simulation based training (Francis Heybroek, 1992). In turn, this focus creates a lack of emphasis on the role of recreating authentic operational scenarios which is the baseline for training airline pilots. All this leads into another important aspect of simulation fidelity; Instructional Systems Design (ISD). ISD is definitively linked to training effectiveness and is relative to the way in which simulator based training is designed for the target audience. Recently there has been considerable research which suggests that there is not a straightforward relationship between the increased realism of high fidelity simulation and any significant enhancement in training effectiveness (National Center for Simulation, 2007). In fact, the research actually shows that increases in both efficiency and transfer of training do occur through the careful process of ISD, and in particular the design of simulation based scenarios that are responsive to the real operational needs of the target learner. These research results provide the first facet that high fidelity simulation is not necessarily required for airline pilot training. Operational Fidelity Within the commercial aviation setting, considerable criticism has been directed at the current forms of simulator based training for their singular focus on the ... I choose to spend the majority of the time in Kindergarten and preschool class rooms with the exception of one that I did in a Special Education class room that had all ages in one room. The reason that I did this was simple, in the future my goal is to teach in preschool or kindergarten. I have always wanted to work with the little ones that were just starting out in their education journey and the joy they have as they master the simple things such as finally learning all their alphabet or the very first time that they read a book. That joy is so wonderful to see and to get the opportunity to not only be there to cheer them on, but to be the one sitting there that taught them those skills that they need for the rest of their lives to succeed. I spent the majority of the hours in Kindergarten, I observed different classes of children and also different activities and different teachers with the same kids. I wanted to see how different the kids acted from their original teacher, to how they responded with the music, art and gym teachers. Would they listen to all of them as well? • 39. Eugenics, Derived From The Greek Word Eugenes Meaning Well... Eugenics, derived from the Greek word eugenes meaning well born, is defined as the study or belief that by encouraging people with good genetic traits to reproduce and discourage those people with less desirable traits the human race can benefit. There were certain groups of people who were affected by these sterilization laws, including people that were mentally disabled or ill and those from socially unacceptable areas of life, that were adopted in 32 states starting in the 1930 s. These sterilizations were done on over 350,000 people in the span eleven years between 1934 and 1945 (Kaelber), leading the United States into one of the darkest parts of our history. Gregor Johann Mendel was an abbot at the St. Thomas Abbey in Brno, in the modern day Czech Republic. He is credited as being the father of genetics because of his work crossbreeding pea plants in order to favor certain traits such as height, color, and pod shape. He worked in the late 1850 s to the early 1860 s. Even though farmers had been doing this similar practice for centuries, his experiments established many of the heredity rules we now refer to as Mendelian inheritance. Around this time another theory of genes was coming out from a man by the name of Sir Francis Galton. Galton is credited as the Father of Eugenics and is also known for the popular phrase Nature vs Nurture . • 41. Existentialism And The Absurd By Albert Camus In studying the works of authors, we are able to see the many factors that play a key role in their lives. These authors incorporate different components into their novels and stories to present a deeper meaning within their work. In his various books, short stories, and plays, the French Algerian writer Albert Camus relates to his philosophical beliefs: specifically existentialism and the absurd, as well as his connecting idea of rebellion. Camus most prominent works such as the novels The Plague, The Stranger, The Rebel, and others reflect these beliefs and ideas he held. Though he was and continues to be considered as one, Camus made a point of rejecting the label of an existentialist. Existentialism is essentially based on the idea that philosophy starts with the acceptance of being an actual living human individual or the realization of existence. The term existence before essence basically means that the after this recognition of existence, the essence, or qualities and defining traits, will follow. In existentialism a fundamental belief is that each and every individual has the responsibility of applying their own meaning to life and genuinely living life through this specific purpose (Wikipedia contributors). In these aspects, many of Camus writings can therefore been seen as reflecting existentialism. In popular Greek myth, the character of Sisyphus is sent to Tartarus for tricking the gods. What Is The Assassination Of Gandhi Unjust Mohandas Gandhi was an influential leader for India s independence, whose acts to gain Indian rights, led to him getting assassinated by Hindus that were against his ideas and motives. As Gandhi moved to South Africa to study law, he experienced racism and South African laws that restricted the rights of Indian laborers. He was removed from a first class railway compartment and thrown off of a train. This was the moment of truth that made Gandhi decide to defend his rights as an Indian man and fight injustice. Gandhi formed the Natal Indian Congress (NIC), which drew attention world wide to the struggle Indians were facing in India. That was just the first of many steps Gandhi took in his fight to gain Indian rights and independence from Great Britain. Although thousands of people supported Gandhi s ideas and actions, certain groups of Hindus and Muslims felt differently about the whole matter. They wanted to kill Gandhi for what he was doing; and on January 30th, 1948, Mohandas Gandhi was assassinated by a Hindu fanatic named Nathuram Godse. This completely goes against the British evidence which clearly says that they did not give the command to fire and were giving orders to not fire. Also, since he was captured by the colonists, he obviously wants to say something that pleases them since they are his audience. That makes his evidence unreliable since he could have made that up to please the colonists who had captured him. • 47. Social Control Theory Essay The social control approach to understanding crime is one of the three major sociological perspectives in contemporary criminology. Control theorists believe that conformity to the rules of society is produced by socialization and maintained by ties to people and institutions to family members, friends, schools, and jobs. Put briefly, crime and delinquency result when the individual s bond to society is weak or broken. As social bonds increase in strength, the costs of crime to the individual increase as well. The intellectual roots of social control theory reach back several centuries, but it was not until the middle of the 20th century that this theory began to generate broad interest among crime researchers. Since then, it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It assumes further that a primary cost of crime is the disapproval of the people about whom the potential offender cares. To the extent that the potential offender cares about no one, he or she is free to commit the crime in question. Sociologists often explain conformity as the result of such sensitivity. Psychologists as often explain deviation as the result of insensitivity to the concerns of others. Together, they tell us that sensitivity is a continuum and that some people have more than others and some have less than others. This is the position adopted by control theorists. They focus on the extent to which people are sensitive to the opinion of others and predict that this variable will predict rates of crime and delinquency. Sensitivity suggests feeling or emotion, and this element of the social bond indeed attempts to capture the emotions (or lack thereof) involved in conformity and deviance. The words are many: affection, love, concern, care, and respect, to name only some. Social control theorists use attachment as an abstract summary of these concepts. The evidence is clear that family attachments are strongly correlated with (non)delinquency.
