This document presents a novel approach to designing a broadband full wave rectenna for wireless energy transfer at 2.45 GHz. The rectenna consists of a center shorted dual edge feed microstrip patch antenna and a two diode full wave rectifier. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed rectenna provides higher RF to DC conversion efficiency than a similar design using a half wave rectifier. A dual feed antenna is used to provide differential voltages at its two feed points, which the full wave rectifier utilizes with its two diodes to convert both half cycles of the incoming AC signal into DC power. The optimized rectenna design is tested and shown to agree with theoretical simulations.

Open Loop Control Of Series Parallel Resonant ConverterIDES Editor
Resonant converters are desirable for power
conversion due to their comparatively smaller size and
lower power losses resulting from high-frequency
operation and inherent soft switching. Among all the
topologies of the resonant converters, the series–parallel
resonant converter (SPRC) is known to have the
combined merits of the series resonant converter and
parallel resonant converter. The converter can regulate
the output voltage at a constant switching frequency even
for a change in load resistance from full load resistance to

Abstract A comparative study on a single- and double-pass configurations for Erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) are demonstrated using a gain media of high concentration Silica-based erbium doped fiber (EDF). The amplifier has two stages comprising a 1.5 m and 9 m long EDF optimized for C-band and L-band operations respectively, in a single-pass and double-pass configurations. The CFBG is used at the end of EDF stage to allow a double propagation of signal and thus increases the attainable gain in both C- and L-band spectra. At an input signal power of -30 dBm, a flat gain of 22 dB is achieved with a gain variation of ±3 dB within a wide wavelength range from 1530 to 1600nm (C- and L-band) in double-pass configurations. The corresponding noise figure varies from 4 to 8 dB within this wavelength region. The flat gains for single-pass configuration only amplify within 1555 nm to 1600 nm (L-band). Design of 10 to 12 GHz Low Noise Amplifier for Ultrawideband (UWB) SystemIJECEIAES
Balanced amplifier is the structure proposed in this article, it provides better performance. In fact, the single amplifier meets the specification for noise figure and gain but fails to meet the return loss specification due to the large mis-matches on the input & outputs. To overcome this problem one solution is to use balanced amplifier topography. In this paper, a wide-band and highgain microwave balanced amplifier constituted with branch line coupler circuit is proposed. The amplifier is unconditionally stable in the band [9-13] GHz where the gain is about 20dB. The input reflection (S11) and output return loss (S22) at 11 GHz are -33.4dB and -33.5dB respectively.

Power Efficiency Improvement in CE-OFDM System With 0 dB IBO for Transmission...CSCJournals
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) OFDM has been adopted for high speed data transmission of multimedia traffic such as HomePlug A/V and Mobile WiMax. However, OFDM also has a drawback of a high PAPR (peak-to-average-power-ratio). Due to this high PAPR amplifier usually does not act in dynamic range. One potential solution for reducing the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in an OFDM system is to utilize a constant envelope OFDM (CE-OFDM) system. Furthermore, by utilizing continuous phase modulation (CPM) in a CE-OFDM system, the PAPR can be effectively reduced to 0 dB, allowing for the signal to be amplified with a power efficient non-linear power amplifier with Input Back-Off (IBO) of 0 dB. This paper describes a CE-OFDM based modem for Power Line Communications (PLC) over the low voltage distribution network. Relying on a preliminary characterization of a PLC network, a complete description of the modem is given. Also CE-OFDM is compared with conventional OFDM under HomePlug 1.0 in the presence of power amplifier nonlinearities, considering different values of IBO.

The designed switch aims to handle a signal of multiple frequencies to/from a multi-tuned radio-frequency coil that resonates at frequencies corresponding to the speed of precession of a wide range of atomic X-nuclei, at the same time and without tuning. These include 1H, 23Na, 13C, 31P, 19F, and 7Li used in magnetic resonance spectroscopy as a measure to the existence of many diseases. The fundamental and third harmonic center frequencies of the switch are adjusted to resonate at two broadbands covering a wide range of atomic X-nuclei. Two section branch-line hybrid couplers with phase inverters are designed to build the broadband switch. Circularly polarized antenna array based on hybrid couplers for 5G devicesjournalBEEI
This paper depicts a wideband circularly polarized (CP) antenna for 5G devices. The antenna array has a 3D structure including four simple printed dipole elements with directional radiations, high gain, and high efficiency. It achieves a CP by using the sequential rotation (SR) feeding based on 90°-3dB hybrid couplers in the proposed feeding network. The antenna array bandwidth is wide, 26.7%, with an operating frequency band from 3.35 GHz to 4.35 GHz. The antenna achieves a high peak gain of 10.73 dBi and high efficiency of 93.75%. Besides, the antenna gain is stable over the operating bandwidth (BW). At the centre operating frequency of 3.75 GHz, the angle of circular polarization is 51°. The antenna is designed and fabricated on the Rogers 4003 C substrate. The measured S11 is well matching with the simulation results. With the above characteristics, the proposed antenna can be a suitable candidate for 5G devices.

A simple design and fabrication of polarization reconfigurable antenna for in...IJECEIAES
This paper proposes a simple microstrip patch antenna (MPA) that can reconfigure its polarization states from linear to circular polarization in real-time by means of a PIN diode. An antenna is fed by a 50 Ω coaxial cable through the substrate of Teflon with relative permittivity of 2.15. The proposed antenna possesses a simple patch with a one-sided corner truncated to achieve polarization reconfigurability. A PIN diode is loaded to connect the main patch with a truncated corner and further maintain dual polarization states such as linear polarization (LP) and circular polarization (CP). Advanced design system (ADS) was used as a simulator to simulate the antenna, and a good understanding was obtained between simulated and measured results. Measured results showed a good agreement with simulated results at all working frequencies of interest. It shows minimum reflection coefficient gain with -10 dB scattering bandwidth 100 MHz for LP states and 170 MHz for CP states. It also shows an axial ratio of 1.56 dB for CP, and the cross-polarization level is also in a satisfying range.

Electrically controlled frequency reconfigurable
comb type antenna is presented in this paper. Reconfigurability
is achieved by placing a PIN diode in each slot of the comb
type antenna. The proposed antenna has very compact size
and works on 8 different bands depending upon the state and
number of PIN diode (ON/OFF). Ansoft Designer 7 is used to
simulate the equivalent model for the PIN diode and proposed
antenna is fabricated on FR4 substrate using photolithography

Non-radiative wireless energy transfer with single layer dual-band printed sp...journalBEEI
Accomplishing equilibrium in terms of transfer efficiency for dual-band wireless energy transfer (WET) system remains as one of key concerns particularly in the implementation of a single transmitter device which supports simultaneous energy and data transfer functionality. Three stages of design method are discussed in addressing the aforementioned concern. A single layer dual-band printed spiral resonator for non-radiative wireless energy transfer operating at 6.78 MHz and 13.56 MHz is presented. By employing multi-coil approach, measured power transfer efficiency for a symmetrical link separated at axial distance of 30 mm are 72.34% and 74.02% at the respective frequency bands. When operating distance is varied between 30 mm to 38 mm, consistency of simulated peak transfer efficiency above 50% is achievable.
Architecture of an efficient dual band 1.8/2.5 GHz rectenna for RF energy har...TELKOMNIKA JOURNAL
This paper presents a highly efficient rectenna of RF energy harvesting systems operating at
1.8 GHz and 2.5 GHz bands for battery-less sensor application. The antenna is design by CST-MWS.
The Schottky diode used for rectifying circuit is HSMS 286B in which designed by Agilent ADS. The key
finding of the paper is that the simulated DC output voltage of the rectenna is 1.35 V for low input power of
-25 dBm at a high resistance load of 1M Ω. Correspondingly, the RF-DC conversion efficiency of
the rectification process is 59.51% and 45.75% at 1.8 GHz and 2.5 GHz, which are high efficiency and much
better compared to literature respectively. The rectenna is capable to produce 1.8 V from an input power of
-20 dBm. Thus, the proposed RF energy harvesting system offers a promising solution designed for efficient
functionality at a low power level of RF energy in the dual band.

A 2.45/5.8 GHz high-efficiency dual-band rectifier for low radio frequency i...IJECEIAES
This article proposes a concurrent rectifier for radio frequency (RF) energy harvesting from the popular ambient RF sources wireless fidelity (WiFi) 2.45 and 5.8 GHz bands. A voltage doubler-based converter circuit with the Schottky SMS7630 diode is used, this chosen diode has shown good results for low power levels. To ameliorate the resulting circuit, we used an interdigital capacitor (IDC) instead of a lumped component; and then we added a filter to reject the 3rd harmonics of each operating frequency. A dual-band impedance transformer with a direct current (DC) block function is used and optimized at low input power points for more harvested DC power. The final circuit was, therefore, more efficient and more reliable. The maximum conversion efficiencies obtained from the resulting circuit are about 60.321% for 2.45 GHz and 47.175% for 5.8 GHz at 2 dBm of input power. Compared to other previous rectifiers presented in the literature, our proposed circuit presents high efficiencies at low power levels and at these operating frequencies.
Frequency dependency analysis for differential capacitive sensorjournalBEEI
A differential capacitive sensing technique is discussed in this paper.
The differential capacitive sensing circuit is making use of a single power supply. The design focus for this paper is on the excitation frequency dependency analysis to the circuit. Theory of the differential capacitive sensor under test is discussed and derivation is elaborated. Simulation results are shown and discussed. Next, results improvement has also been shown in this paper for comparison. Test was carried out using frequency from 40 kHz up to 400 kHz. Results have shown output voltage of Vout=0.07927 Cx+1.25205 and good linearity of R-squared value 0.99957 at 200 kHz. Potential application for this capacitive sensor is to be used for energy harvesting for its potential power supply.
Design and simulation of an analog beamforming phased array antenna IJECEIAES
In this paper, a phased array antenna is designed and simulated. The antenna array consists of four circularly polarized slotted waveguide elements. The antenna array is simulated using CST MWS. The simulation results for the proposed antenna array at different values of progressive phase shift demonstrate that the S‒parameters for all four ports are less than ‒10 dB over at least 2% bandwidth, the simulated maximum gain is 13.95 dB, the simulated beamwidth can be 19˚ or narrower based on the value of the progressive phase shift. The range of frequencies over which the simulated Axial Ratio (AR) is below 3 dB is not fixed and varied according to the selected progressive phase shift. The proposed four-element RF front-end is simulated using Advanced Design System (ADS) at operating frequency of 9.6 GHz. The obtained simulation results by ADS indicate the feasibility of implementing the proposed RF-front end for feeding the antenna array to realize analog beamforming.

Simulated Analysis of Resonant Frequency Converter Using Different Tank Circu...IJERD Editor
LLC resonant frequency converter is basically a combo of series as well as parallel resonant ckt. For
LCC resonant converter it is associated with a disadvantage that, though it has two resonant frequencies, the
lower resonant frequency is in ZCS region [5]. For this application, we are not able to design the converter
working at this resonant frequency. LLC resonant converter existed for a very long time but because of
unknown characteristic of this converter it was used as a series resonant converter with basically a passive
(resistive) load. . Here, it was designed to operate in switching frequency higher than resonant frequency of the
series resonant tank of Lr and Cr converter acts very similar to Series Resonant Converter. The benefit of LLC
resonant converter is narrow switching frequency range with light load[6] . Basically, the control ckt plays a
very imp. role and hence 555 Timer used here provides a perfect square wave as the control ckt provides no
slew rate which makes the square wave really strong and impenetrable. The dead band circuit provides the
exclusive dead band in micro seconds so as to avoid the simultaneous firing of two pairs of IGBT’s where one
pair switches off and the other on for a slightest period of time. Hence, the isolator ckt here is associated with
each and every ckt used because it acts as a driver and an isolation to each of the IGBT is provided with one
exclusive transformer supply[3]. The IGBT’s are fired using the appropriate signal using the previous boards
and hence at last a high frequency rectifier ckt with a filtering capacitor is used to get an exact dc
waveform .The basic goal of this particular analysis is to observe the wave forms and characteristics of
converters with differently positioned passive elements in the form of tank circuits. The supported simulation
is done through PSIM 6.0 software tool

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
