Degrees Brix (°Bx) measures the sugar content of an aqueous solution as a percentage by mass. A solution with 1 degree Brix contains 1 gram of sucrose per 100 grams of solution. °Bx is commonly used in the wine, sugar, fruit juice and other industries to measure and compare the dissolved solid content of solutions. It can be measured using a hydrometer, refractometer or other instruments, with the reading corresponding to the percentage of sucrose and other dissolved solids in the solution.
