This document summarizes the benefits of using BSG Hop Extracts in brewing. It preserves varietal character, provides consistent bittering, increases hop utilization, saves money, increases kettle yield, and saves space compared to whole hops. The extract has no chemical modifications and provides 35% utilization during a 60 minute boil. Formulas are provided to estimate bitterness levels using the extract, with notes that each 150g can of extract will provide around 30 IBUs for a 15 barrel batch when boiled for 45 minutes, extracting alpha acids from 2-6 pounds of hops.
