Branding
 I created a sense of branding through the use of the same
actors in my poster that were in my documentary. I felt
this would increase my brand recognition and attract a
larger audience. The two actors used were present at the
beginning of my documentary in the ‘previously’ section. I
used these 2 in my poster because I felt that by using
actors that aren’t in the latest episode would signify that
there is more than one series. This was further implied
through the text ‘New series starts Sunday 8pm’.
However, the documentary opening that I made is not the
first of the series. This was because my documentary
includes a ‘previously’ section and is therefore not the first
of the series, but my poster is an advertisement for the
whole documentary, not just my episode, thus I thought it
was best to have ‘new series’ on the poster.
Marketing
 I used the transparent Channel 4 logo as my
documentary would be on Channel 4. Including
this on my poster allows the audience to know
exactly where to look for my documentary whilst it
also provides a sense of marketing in itself,
because the audience can relate it to other
documentaries or programs they may have
watched on Channel 4. This allows them to have a
feel of what the documentary will be like, before
watching it.
Lighting
 My original photo was much darker and
therefore the trees and branches were
much more prominent. I enlightened the
picture using colour correction on
Photoshop in an attempt to make the
picture less daunting and scary and create
a more romantic mood. I also introduced a
red fade from right to left, matching the
colour of the umbrella, as this depicted a
more light-hearted impression.
Channel 4 conventions
 As well as using the Channel 4 font
style, I created a black background the
text after researching other Channel 4
posters. This was a common convention
in all the posters and therefore I used it
to add realism and further create a
brand awareness.
