‘Crippled Sense’ – Script 5
1. ‘Crippled Sense’ – Script 5
The film will start with the studio company (Heartbeat Studios) followed by
the production company (Gloria Productions). After this, the first 30 seconds of
the film will show cross-cutting
between Gus Adams (Tom O’Reilly)
sitting in a room by himself and the
doctor (Leila Deeley) fiddling with
chemical equipment such as syringes, test
tubes and measuring cylinders along with
parts of a pigs heart. The pig’s heart is
there to show the psychotic nature of the doctor and it will be there to symbolise
testing of a human body.
Afterwards, the doctor will be filmed walking downstairs and along a corridor
before entering Gus’ room. The camera will only show dark scenes of the stairs
so that the doctor’s face cannot clearly be seen, then it will follow her feet as she
walks along the corridor. Only her feet will be seen at this point in order to keep
the character mysterious and it will add extra value to the point when her face is
seen for the first time. Tied in with the scenes of the doctor will be scenes of Gus
running through woods. Different camera angles such as point-of-view and
panning shots will emphasise Gus’ struggle in running away.
Once the doctor reaches the door of Gus’ room, the camera will switch to a low-
angle of the doctor as she opens the door, connoting her superiority. After the
final shots of Gus and the woods, where he eventually sees civilisation, the
camera will show an empty room with the windows open, thus implying the
disappearance of Gus so that it is more visibly clear to the audience that he has
escaped. The film will show an extreme close-up of the doctor's eyes, signifying
her consternation at the escape of Gus.
Succeeding this will be a short scene of
the doctor sending a text message to her
director saying ‘WE HAVE A BREACH’.
The film will immediately cross-cut to
the title of the film, * 'Crippled Sense'
before ending.
* ‘Patient Zero’ - We have now changed
the name of the title but the rest of the
script remains the same.
