The Roles Of The Wampanoag, And The Iroquois And Iroquois
Before the American Revolution, Native Americans created diverse and complex societies and
organized them around common principles. Relationships to land and leadership played important
roles in structuring Native life, but served unique functions in each community. For both the Iroquois
and Wampanoag, their relationships to land embodied their lifeways; their land was their identity, their
resource, their claim to power and sovereignty, and more. While the Iroquois vested leadership powers
in the institution of the Great League of Peace, the Wampanoag depended on the leadership of
powerful sachems such as Massasoit and Metacomet. However, both the Iroquois and Wampanoag
used leadership in their tribes to preserve peace to a degree and protect their sovereignty when dealing
with Europeans and other Natives. Despite their similarities and differences, the Wampanoag and
Iroquois distinctively used their relationships to land and leadership to protect their interests. The
Iroquois of New York and Ontario viewed their land as entwined with their identity. The Iroquoian
nations had a special relationship to their land, as they believed divine forces formed it for them. The
Iroquois Creation Story, as recorded by John Norton, described how the Iroquois believed a female
deity formed the earth for them (Calloway 50). Because the Iroquois believed in an intimate and
divine relationship to their land, they internalized the land as the basis of their identity.

Critical Analysis Of Madame Bovary

A Fantasy World
In Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert shapes Emma, the protagonist, into a woman who deceives
herself, through romantic novels, into believing her life is better than it actually is. Emma like most
things in her life romanticized what marriage would do for her. At the start of her marriage to Charles,
she believed marriage would be the means at which she transitioned from a farm girl to a wealthy
woman. She believed that marriage would bring her all she had longed for. However, her marriage to
Charles is opposite to that. Thus, she is constantly searching for something or someone to satisfy her.
She spends majority of the novel aspiring to be a part of the upper ... Show more content on

Flaubert use of they and them, further separates Emma from the festivities of the upper class.
Additionally, as Emma is preparing for the ball, she is striving to appear as extravagant as possible.
She did her hair according to the directions of the hairdresser, and put on the barege dress (Flaubert,
42 44) Thus, Flaubert emphasizes that Emma s is unable to prepare for the ball without directions
implying that she is not able to be a part of the upper class events without guidance. Therefore, her
only connection to the upper class at the ball are her clothes. Also, Flaubert further separates Emma
and Charles from the rest of the guest, by having them arrive in a dog cart (Flaubert, 41). Hence,
Flaubert advocates that no matter how much the middle class aspires to be a part of the upper class
through material items they will never have the means to do so. Flaubert further emphasizes the
separation between Emma and the rest of the guests when he writes: Emma was listening to a
conversation full of words she did not understand (Flaubert, 45). Flaubert is highlighting how out of
place Emma is, yet how aloof Emma remains. She is still listening even though she doesn t understand
what they are saying. Overall, Flaubert utilizes perspective in order to highlight Emma s aspirations to
be a part of the upper class, through her appearance and material items. Ultimately, Flaubert is
critiquing the French middle class in that

Cross-Cultural in Outsourced Film
Early in our nation s history, white settlement of the Americas began a long standing tradition of
misunderstanding and hostility between Native American tribes and United States society.
Intercultural communication barriers lent themselves to assumptions and intolerance, which led to
warfare, bloodshed, and the eventual destruction of an entire culture s traditional ways of life. Today,
stereotypical representations of the cowboys and Indians of the 1800s continue to perpetuate hurtful
misconceptions that further thwart attempts at understanding between the cultures. One motion
picture, released almost two decades ago, served to demonstrate how a thoughtful, respectful approach
across cultural boundaries might have resulted in a more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, Beebe, Beebe, and Redmond s concept of different communication codes also plays into
this scene due to Stands With a Fist s limited memory of the English language and Dunbar s inability
to understand the Lakota exchanges between Stands With a Fist and Kicking Bird. These factors
combine to add a great deal of tension to the exchange because Stands With a Fist s fear of Dunbar s
differences is explicitly demonstrated through her reserved behavior toward him, and Dunbar infers
that she is uncomfortable but not the reasons why. Dunbar and Kicking Bird attempt to seek
information about one another by asking questions and listening carefully to the answers. However,
their efforts are thwarted by Stands With a Fist s initial reluctance to create what Beebe, Beebe, and
Redmond (2008) refer to as a third culture (p. 111), in which the three could create an atmosphere of
acceptance and find common ground upon which to learn about each other. Stands With a Fist could
have acted as a more effective facilitator by using her prior knowledge of white culture to develop
mindfulness (p. 113) of both Dunbar s and Kicking Bird s backgrounds to help them understand one
another and answer each other s questions. Although the motion picture ends with a sense of certain
doom for the Lakota people at the hands of white civilization, Dances With Wolves (Wilson Costner,
1990) served to illustrate for millions of viewers the roles sensitivity and mutual respect can play

Why Do You Learn To Learn Spanish Essay
Spanish is a wonderful language, and one of the most spoken in the world. The growing popularity is
a factor of its geographically widespread demographics, the increasing economic influence of Latin
America, the rich culture associated with its speakers and its popularity on the Internet (surpassed only
by English). It is the second world language after English and the second most studied in the world.
There are many reasons to learn the language of Cervantes. Here are a few for you to chew on. 10
Reasons Why You Should Learn Spanish 1. Second language in the world by native speakers Cliché,
of course, but it s never enough to highlight that Spanish is only behind Mandarin in absolute numbers
of native speakers. It is also the second most used language on the Internet and one of the fastest
growing in the world. Learn Spanish and you will be able to communicate (and troll) with about 550
million people throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania. In the United States alone,
it is the second most spoken language with more than 52 million yodelers. Enough hispanophones to

There are numerous similarities between the Portuguese and Spanish: grammar, vocabulary, etc. This

try your luck with Portuñhol , which can be intuitively grasped and enables a minimum level of
communication between the two parties. Just don t overindulge or you ll make a fool of yourself.
Portuguese is also a major language in the world, the sixth by native speakers (more than 200 million
and growing). Learn Spanish and you instantly win the ability to communicate with more than 10% of
the world s population. Not everyone can brag of such

Research Paper On Charles Lindbergh
Charles Lindbergh is most famously known for being the first person ever to cross the Atlantic Ocean
nonstop. Charles Lindbergh was born on February 4, 1902 in Detroit. Charles grew up on a farm, his
dad a lawyer and mother a chemistry teacher. At the age of 18 Charles entered the university of
Wisconsin. He showed an interest in Engineering, but soon became even more interested in aviation.
At this time aviation was in a very early state. Planes are becoming safer, but they are still very
unreliable. At the same time the public is watching the sky with anticipation and aw. Aviation is in the
spotlight and the world is watching. Charles is one of those individuals watching and he is captivated.
After two years of college, Charles drops out and peruses his aviation dreams. He moved to Lincoln,
Nebraska where he joined the Nebraskan Aircraft Corporation. This Corporation would buy old
military planes and fix them up. This gave Charles a chance to learn how to work on planes and
understand them. Charles got the chance to go out with one of the pilots on a barnstorming tour, he
was a wing walker. Charles would go on one more tour before heading to Georgia, where he would
purchase his own surplus airplane. Charles went on a single barnstorming tour by himself before
joining the Army Air Service. This army flying school was extremely hard, but Charles excelled. In
March of 1924 Charles Lindbergh graduated at the top of his class. After graduating Charles went on

Banning Concealed Carry
There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870 (MST).
Guns are not a bad thing, it s the people carrying them. That is why I think there should be Gun
control that does not abuse the power of the rightfully armed. Stronger regulations are okay, but they
should not violate the Second Amendment. All states should have carry laws allowing concealed carry
in all states, while banning open carry of guns. Why should open carry should be banned? Because it
could be considered flourishing a gun. For example, Texas is now allowing open carry. Patrik Jonsson,
a staff writer at Student Issue Research (SIR), reports that Police are discouraged from even asking
about someone s holstered gun. If they do, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Open carry should be banned in all states because you re practically flourishing your gun for
everyone, including criminals, to see all the time. With concealed carry, you re required to provide a
permit showing you are legally carrying, However, with open carry an officer can walk up and ask for
your gun permit, but can do little if they refuse. Open carry could allow a mass murderer or a terrorist
to walk in public with a weapon and gather little suspicion from nearby people. Concealed carry is not
visible to others. In a state with open carry, your gun could be snatched out of a open holster. In a state
that allows concealed carry, who s going to know you have a gun? Guns are weapons of self defense,
not toys to flourish to the public eye. Guns don t kill people, people kill people. This is why we should
have tighter regulations on guns. Again, my opinion is that concealed carry should be allowed in all
states. In addition, all states should have carry rules and open carry should be banned. We can try stop
mass shootings, but not by restricting the average person s gun rights. We can stop some of the killing,
but let s not make the righteous

Mentoring In The Mentorship Summary
Text Purpose Dr. Lois Zachary provides a well organized, hands on approach to research based

current mentors. Zachary (2012) provides solid examples, concrete exercises, and a roadmap for
building an effective mentoring relationship. Mentors in the business world, nonprofit organizations,

Zachary presents the mentorship as a learning partnership between mentor and mentee. This reinforces
my understanding of the nature of adult learning and the notion that the mentor is less an authority
figure and more of a facilitator. In my work as a mentor for special education directors, I will utilize
Zachary s four stage approach for encouraging learning and promoting change. This reading has
helped me to see mentorship as a process with distinctive components, as defined by Zachary (2012).
During the preparation phase, I will focus on ensuring I fully understand the reasoning behind the
mentoring relationship (Zachary 2012). I will accomplish this through personal reflection and a
collaborative discussion with the mentee. I will remember that this phase sets the tone for the
relationship. The next step, negotiating, is the business stage and the time when mentoring partners
come to an agreement on the learning goals and define the content and process of the relationship
(Zachary 2012). It is essential that during this phase I facilitate the conversation to enable a productive
meeting and set measurable goals with aligned activities that will ensure they attain their goals. Part of
the stage that I need to work on is creating a shared understanding of boundaries and limits. I will
accomplish this through communicating the delineation between the mentor and mentee s role and
responsibilities. The third stage, the enabling phase, takes the longest amount of time because it is
when the implementation of the learning occurs (Zachary 2012). During this period, I will support the
mentee s learning by communicating the goals and providing thoughtful and timely feedback and
encouragement. I will ensure that additional time is dedicated to supporting the mentee s work. Before
reading this book, I was less confident during this phase and

How Did Connecticut Get Its Shape
Connecticut got its shape in three major ways. Those are ways are glaciation, plate tectonics, and
weathering and erosion. One major way Connecticut got its shape was from glaciation. For example,
glaciation formed Jobs Pond. Jobs Pond is a giant kettle hole, which is a depression caused by the
impact of a massive chunk of ice, or a glacier. According to The Mystery Of Jobs Pond, geologists and
hydrologists the water level rises and falls with the groundwater level in the area, because porous sand
and gravel make up the bottom of the pond. A kettle hole is formed by a glacier, so glaciation formed
Jobs Pond. Another landscape formed by glaciation is recessional moraines. A recessional moraine is a
pile of rocks left behind when a glacier recedes, or moves back. As a glacier moves, it picks up rocks
in a process called plucking. Then, as the glacier starts to melt, it recedes. As it does this it drops off
rocks, forming a recessional moraine. Recessional moraines, formed from glaciation, are found all
along the Connecticut shoreline. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Plate and the African Plate collided. When this happened the Appalachian Mountains were formed.
These mountains then grew bigger, but as soon as it started growing, it also eroded. Erosion and

Beauty Is Beauty Meaning
Beauty can be seen in every shape, form, or size. Despite the difference in its existence, it cannot be
treated different. Beauty is beauty. Here Claude McKay, Ben Jonson, and Paul Dunbar allow us to see
beauty in different forms, however all meaning the same thing. From beauty in simplicity, beauty in
showing one s true emotions, and beauty in equality. The White City , Still To Be Neat, Still To Be
Dressed , and We Wear The Mask , reveal the definition of beauty in deviating embodiments. The
juxtaposition, repetition, and antithesis in the poems helps clarify the author s purpose.
In Claude McKay s The White City, the beauty he perceives in the city is juxtaposed with the reality
that dwells in it. From a distance, McKay views the city of his dreams, he describes it having towers
as high they touch the clouds, though, the city s environment fills him with hatred it is the only thing
keeping him alive . Although, he describes it as heaven in the white world s hell (Arp, 892). The
strong opposing connotation McKay notes, symbolizes the atmosphere in the city he so desires. His
heaven would be what the people in the city would consider hell . Since the poem was written during
the 1920s, a moment when racism and segregation was highly concentrated. McKay describes heaven
to be a place where blacks can be mixed with the whites, which for the white city it would be hell.
Likewise, for the white city heaven would be McKay s hell, and conversely. The contrast helps to

With the budgeting tool, the corporate can thus make informed financial decisions.
For AT T, Inc., the capital budget is vital in putting to use the available resources. The act of
prioritizing mainly ensures that critical segments of the company are first to be factored in the
budgeting process and that they are adequately funded at all times (Wyatt, 2013). In that process, it is
easy for the company to identify deficits and adequately plan for loans or stock financing.
Since a budget is a component of sound and responsible financial management, tracking its
formulation and implementation can go a long way to ensuring its objectives are adequately met.
Sound budget management strategies include keeping a proper record of all the expenses v.
allocations. Also, consistently review the implementation to be sure of the anticipated outcome.
Considering the implementation can also help isolate the possibility of adjustments in line with the
budget objectives (Wyatt, 2013).
Effective Budgeting and the Positive Financial Outcome
The fundamental importance of proper budgeting strategies goes beyond corporate investment
decision making. It includes positive financial outcomes in as far as the financial goals are concerned.
One of the positive outcomes is eliminating a fiscal crisis. Financial forecasting particularly helps

Becoming A Single-Parent
The pain of losing someone close to you, especially a parent, is never something you can ever quite
articulate. But, the lessons you learn and the person you become in the aftermath is a little easier to

always knew how to soothe me and she always made the effort to, even when she was combatting her
own issues. In 2009, my parents divorced due to my father s anger issues and drug use. In addition to
becoming a single parent, she was also physically disabled due to work injuries and dealt with pain
almost constantly. Her death was May 26th, 2015, just six days after the end of my freshman year. The
exact details are burned into my memory, but at the same time the entire day is a blur. I remember the

Radiology Medical Advantages And Disadvantages
In most radiology modalities, it is hard to see the many different soft tissue like the vessels and
arteries without the help of a contrast agent. The soft tissue and blood vessels are composed of a
different density which in turn makes the plain x ray images not as beneficial as for bones to
diagnosis. Differentiating between two adjacent tissues is proven to be very useful with the help of a
radiopaque substance.2 This in turn is the reason a contrast agent is needed to enhance the vasculature
nature of the human body. Examples of contrast agents commonly used are barium, Iodine 300 or 370,
Gastrografin, or Gadolinium.
The study of the blood or lymph vessels in the body after an injection of a radiopaque contrast agent is
called Angiography.1 Obtaining the images for a patient with obstructed coronary vessels is called and
coronary angiogram. When a patient is given a contrast agent for a coronary angiogram, it can cause
some significant health risks that can be unforeseen. Many complications can come from too much
contrast agent being administered or by not monitoring the patients creatinine before the exam. This is
one of the causing factors that may lead to the patient having kidney failure, cardiac issues, allergic
reactions or even anaphylactic shock.2 Without the proper laboratory procedures done and close
monitoring during an exam, the patient can be put at an extremely high risk of complications due to
the contrast agent. Contrast agents can be classified into

A Comparison Of Faith And The Future Of Religion
A Comparison of Faith
Faith, defined as a strong belief in something which cannot be proven, has been argued over countless
generations. Still, even without proof, individuals worldwide hold true to their faith each day. After
studying faith and religion in texts written by scholars with varying backgrounds, it is easy to see faith
is something which is widely disputed. Comparison of Sigmund Freud s The Future of an Illusion and
Paul Tillich s Dynamics of Faith, fully displays the discrepancies in points of view on the function of
faith, as well as the necessity of faith, in society; while the comparison of Viktor E. Frankl s Man s

differences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout his book, Tillich references faith as an ultimate concern to emphasize the importance of
faith in the personality of individuals. Furthermore, Tillich believes faith is a vital part of human
nature and that even the rejection of faith is, in itself, an act of faith. This displays Tillich s
understanding that faith will never disappear from society because it is a piece of the puzzle in what
makes up humanity (Tillich).
After summarizing both arguments, discernibly Sigmund Freud and Paul Tillich would hold opposing
views on both the function of faith and the future of faith. The disagreement would begin with the
function of religion in society, displayed when Tillich writes, The question raised by this book is
whether such belief is based on insight or on misunderstanding, and the question is unambiguously
that the rejection of faith is rooted in a complete misunderstanding of the nature of faith (146). Freud
believes religion is man being immature, but Tillich feels differently. Tillich perceives the rejection of
faith as the misunderstanding of the true nature of faith. If Tillich and Freud were to hold a debate,
Tillich would most likely discuss how Freud misunderstands faith s nature. Freud, however, would
respond with a discussion about how faith is man looking for security in the world.

Who Is Thomas Jefferson A Good President
Thomas Jefferson is one of the most important Presidents involved with the founding of America. His

Thomas Jefferson did undoubtedly made him the strongest President out of Abraham Lincoln and

The Effect Of Water Hardness On Our Health
Introduction Water hardness is an ongoing problem across the globe. While not detrimental to our
health, there are many issues that arise from having hard water in households. You may be asking,
what is hard water? Isn t it all liquid? The hardness of water actually refers to the presence of divalent
cations, or ions with a +2 charge. In drinking water, these are most commonly Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions (
Water Hardness ). Water hardness can cause a buildup of minerals on surfaces such as dishes, sinks,
showers and pipes. While the aesthetic problems are not that important, the buildup in the pipes can be
very harmful. The scale that builds up causes utility bills to increase because more energy is required
to deliver water to its final ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The water will turn to blue when you reach this point. Once you find how many drops of EDTA it
took, you can calculate the concentration of calcium and magnesium in the water, as seen in the results
section. EDTA is not always precise since the turning point will often lie between drops, which can
result in a large margin of error, especially for small samples. For a more accurate test, we turn to AA,
or Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. This water hardness test uses a machine to aspirate the
water sample. This gas then is burned in a flame, and a light of a range of wavelengths is passed
through it. The machine then calculates the amount of divalent cations in the water by comparing the
relative levels of light passed through the sample at each wavelength to known atomic absorption
levels. You then use a trend line from known samples readings, to figure out what the concentration of
calcium or magnesium there is. These two different tests are both used in this lab so that we can be
assured we ve done them right. The hardness of one test should be similar to the hardness obtained
from the other. Using these tests, we created a hypothesis to test.
Our group was testing which part of Pennsylvania has the highest mineral content and hardness of
their water. Our samples came from a Pittsburgh well (694 Forbes Rd. New Castle PA 16101), State

A king is the ruler, the maker or laws, and is the heart and representation of a country. Dynasties rise
and fall, under the reign of their king. He is sometime called the chosen one, as he has the power to
either bring the country to its glory, or bring ruin and devastation. Thus, throughout the history of
Israel, the three kings Saul, David, and Solomon where all chosen by God, and each of them had
contributed to the development of the nation.
Before the time of the three kings, those who reign over Israel were the Judges. However, the
beginning of 1 Samuel unfolded the fading of their era (New International Version). By the time the
leadership lay in the hands of Eli and his ungodly sons, God had stopped speaking to them and gave
His guidance to Samuel (Hinson and Yates 163). Thus, in time, Samuel gained his judgeship and led
the nation to victory and peace. However, as he aged, the people wish to have a king. Since Samuel
son s did not proved to be faithful to the Covenant the way their father did, the people believed it is
necessary to requested for a king (Constable, Notes on 1 Samuel). They claimed: (w)e want a king
over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and
fight our battles (1 Samuel 8: 19 20, NIV). Indeed, having a king would give the power against other
enemies. Nonetheless, the people of Israel ultimately failed to understand that their true King, the one
and only that helped them throughout

Modern Hero vs. Anglo Saxon Hero Essay
Today s modern day hero has similarities and differences than the Anglo Saxon hero. The two heroes
each have different values they believe in. Also, they are motivated to fight for different reasons. An
Anglo Saxon hero also fights differently than a modern day hero. An example of this comparison is
Bono from the band U2 and Beowulf. Both modern day heroes, like Bono and Anglo Saxon heroes,
like Beowulf, try to improve their societies, but do it in different ways and for different reasons.
Anglo Saxon heroes have only a few things in common with modern day heroes. One of the things is
that they both want to improve the society that they come from. That I, alone and with the help of my
men, may purge all evil from this hall (Raffel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He raised his arms and seized her by the shoulder (Raffel 509 510). Beowulf and Anglo Saxon heroes
fight their battles with their fists. On the other hand, modern hero fights with their minds. In 1992
Bono took part in a campaign organized by Greenpeace against radioactive pollution (The City
Council of Turin, no page). Bono has organized and created many foundations that help and save
people all over the world.
Another Difference these two types of heroes have is why they fight their battles. I sold my life for
this treasure and I sold it well (Raffel 820 821). The Anglo Saxon heroic code states that Anglo Saxon
heroes are seeking fortune. Beowulf makes many references in the poem of how he seeks wealth.
Modern day heroes are the complete of this. All of Bono s foundations are non profit and the money
they raise goes right to various charities. In modern day society it is considered greedy for a celebrity
to seek money. On the other hand, it is perfectly normal and accepted for an Anglo Saxon hero to seek
wealth.
It was respected and not uncommon for an Anglo Saxon hero to boast. This is a major difference
between Anglo Saxon heroes and modern day heroes. Bono has not once bragged about all of the good
things he has done, or the money he makes. Meanwhile, through out the whole poem Beowulf is
bragging about his strengths, riches, and ancestors. All modern day heroes would not be considered
heroes

Threats:
 The new competitor directly across from the Milky Lane at Forest Hill City Mall is Smooch, a
frozen yoghurt bar which is attracting potential customers and is bad for business.
 The increasing petrol prices mean that the amount of possible customers decrease because people
do not want to travel more than 20 kilometres to buy ice cream, therefore sales decrease which hamper
productivity.
 The changes in legislation, particularly referring to the Broad Based Black Economic
Empowerment Act (BBBEE) which is helping redress the faults of the apartheid government may
mean that Milky Lane has to promote a person to a management position based on colour rather than
education or experience which may significantly impact the subsidiary negatively because if the
leadership of one branch starts to deteriorate, the company image is tarnished.
 Our workforce does not only consist of South African employees, (Jalloh, 2015). Hope Jalloh is
from Nigeria and works as a waitress at Milky Lane Forest Hill therefore xenophobic attacks may
prevent certain people from coming to work because they may be scared to take a taxi or walk to

English Should Be the Official Language of the United States
English as the official language of the United States could benefit the U.S. Government and America
as a whole. America has long since been a multicultural nation and has been an English speaking
nation since it was founded. The constitutional and federal documents are all in English, which
furthers the American people, believing English should be our official language. The majority of states
already have English as their official language, for English has always provided a much needed
cohesion to our diverse citizens since it was founded.
Being made of diverse peoples, and being able to continue to use your own language may seem
preferable as we encourage individuality and do not want anyone to disappear into the soup. This

The army and federal court system already operate in English for practical reasons, and by having an
official language, the workings of the government would be more streamlined. Such a bill would
mostly apply to government policy and federal documentation, and would make it clear that unless the
government decides to provide it, no one is entitled to government services or documents in any
language other than English; if there is a communication issue with laws or regulations in more than
one language, English would take precedence. In a recent national survey, nearly two thirds of
Americans assumed that English was already the official language set by the United States
Constitution, according to the Associated Press, 1987. (James Crawford 1) The lobbyists U.S. English
believe It is a shared language that has allowed us to rise above our differences and come together as
citizens of one nation... there was no resistance to the notion that learning English was the price of
immigration. (James Crawford 1) In November of 1986, California voted on Proposition 63, a
referendum to make English the official language of the state: three quarters of the electorate were
needed to pass, and it is not surprising that it did pass. Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Nebraska, and

Oxidative Coupling Of Alkyne Lab Report
Oxidative coupling of alkynes using the Glaser Eglinton Hay reaction
CH203 02
Fadwa Mekkaoui
Introduction/Procedure:
Oxidative coupling of alkynes is a method in which an oxidizing agent is used to eliminate a hydrogen
from an alkene, causing a carbon carbon bond to be made. A catalyst is used in order to speed up a
reaction by lowering the activation energy. The solvent used is 2 proponal and a chelating reagent,
tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA), is used to help CuCl dissolve in solvent. The experiment uses
techniques such as recrystallization, TLC, and infrared spectroscopy. This experiment is incredibly
green, since air is used as an oxygen resource and has no cost. CuCl is used a catalyst and a green
solvent, 2 propanol, is also used as a reaction medium which is a greener solvent.

will analyse the advantages and disadvantages of using each modes of transport and illustrate storages
and warehouses for these products.
2 Logistics strategy and components from Japan and China.
Generally, logistics strategy has three different goals such as, cost reduction, capital reduction and
service improvement. Firstly, the cost reduction is strategy which is minimising the variable costs
associated with storage and movement and the great strategy is formulated by estimating different
courses of action, such as, choosing between different warehouse locations or selecting between
different modes of transport. However, the main goal is still to achieve maximum profit. Secondly,

Social Emotional And Executive Function Defects
Through the decades, researchers have tried to solve the mystery of the enigmatic prefrontal cortex.
Along with the famous case of Phineas Gage (Harlow,1848), many studies have attempted to answer
the burning question of either or not lesions to the prefrontal cortex lead to an antisocial behavior. The
PFC, which is found in the frontal lobe and has an executive function, helps us have an appropriate
response to social situations. Why is it important to study this matter? Because we are social creatures
and knowing how to act in society is one of our basic needs. The studies which will be presented show
that there is an obvious link between dysfunction of the PFC and an antisocial way of acting.
In the developmental neuropsychology literature, it has been proved that social emotional and
executive function defects are associated with early damage to the PFC. Piaget (1968) claimed that
children learn from experience and this is the way in which they obtain adaptive characteristics.
Therefore, studying patients such as children can give a lot of information about the effect of brain
maturation and social development.
The study conducted by Eslinger(2004) reveals 10 cases of patients suffering from early prefrontal
cortex damage highlighting one of the most informative cases available in the literature on human
prefrontal lobe damage , the case of Acherly and Benton(1948). JP, the person who was being studied,
is particularly important because he was observed for a long

investors and shareholders will be the most important stakeholders for Soselo Mello. To develop and
sell much better fuel items in the market they need more investment, but there is not enough
information who an investor can invest his money in their business on the official website. To
communicate the future investors, they have to improve the website.
b. Employees.
When they start to produce and sell their fuel in earnest, they have to hire more employees. They will
want to hire employees who can share same vision to make much safe and clean environment by using
Soselo Mello s fuels. Of course, they will hire a lot of local laborer as their employees, and the stable
job can change the laborer s life. The wage of African laborers is much cheaper than other
development countries, so they will be able to hire more employees.
c. Manufacturers.
To make a contract with local manufactures to produce their goods is can be a good business option.

Cost Of College Fees
For most, the thought of how much money is spent on college gives prospective students a
headache. The cost is still high despite the implementation of scholarships and financial aid included.
When a student or parent receive the dreaded bill from a university, it is assumed that all the expenses
are written on the bill, but that is not always the case. Instead many secondary schools have been
introducing additional costs, which in most cases are not relevant to the student. For example,
California Polytechnic State has the annual $814 student success fee , which is snuck into the cost of
tuition as mandatory (Sharpe). People are being cheated by their schools when they are unknowingly

The schools themselves dupe students into supporting additional costs with votes. According to Dr.
Vedder, as quoted in the New York Times, said that universities use students for cover (Sharpe).
Universities do this by casting votes on fees however they know students would like an improved
campus etc.. By doing this, they can manipulate the students and say the student body wanted this or
that so we had to raise a price here or there. However, as found from audits of various schools, the
money is not spent on what it should be leaving an unsatisfied and broke student

Advantages of using ultrasound over conventional methods. Low equipment cost. Easy installation.
No additional emulsifier is required to be added in the process. Production of smaller sized particles
with the help of ultrasound is much easier. The process is environment friendly. There are less chances
of mechanical failure as a stirrer (impeller) is not required. Micro and Nano spheres produced by this
method show a better size distribution. As the temperatures involved in this method is not that high the
drug are safe from being decomposed. There is no need of purification in this method as there is no
residual solvent obtained in this method. It is a cost effective method as compared to other methods.

Roman Polanski s Repulsion Essays
Roman Polanski s Repulsion
Analysis of an aspect of visual form in the film Repulsion In the 1964/65 film Repulsion by Roman
Polanski, the story is about the conflict between reality and fantasy or sanity and insanity inside the
main character s mind Carol played by Catherine Deneuve. Therefore the narrative technique of
symbolism is used to display visually to the film s audience what happens to Carol s mind. In this
particular instance, the degeneration of Carol s state of mind is symbolised.
Carol s state of mind degenerates, or breaks down because of her repulsion of masculinity in a sexual
context. Through Carol s eyes, we see masculinity as being aggressive, obsessive, crude/sexually
suggestive, rapacious and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obviously the camera then pans to see this but it can hold onto the shot for longer than Carol looks at
it, giving the audience a chance to understand why Carol might look at it. As her state of mind being
like it is, what it symbolises only needs a casual look or glance at it from Carol. As a symbol itself, the
empty hut represents a pathway or tunnel to a dark kind of life one filled with despair, depression,
anxiety, anger, fear, hate, and/or any other types of negative human qualities. Near the end of the film,
this dark image is shown again, just after Carol kills the landlord with the cut throat razor. Her face is
kept in shadow an oval of near black and is framed by her hair, which enhances this image further
because it is blond.
As I have implied before, Carol s understanding of life around her is distorted. She frequently sees
cracks appearing in walls which can be read as cracks in her mind. In one instance, Carol sees a crack
in the pavement on her way to work. She becomes engrossed by it, and sits down on a bench by it to
simply look at it. The shot of the crack taken over her right shoulder shows that the crack runs
between her feet. It then splits into two cracks, making the entire crack look like a Y . This suggests
that it is used as a symbol to show two paths in life to take: the first being the good, realistic or sane
path; the other being the bad, fantastic or insane path. Her boyfriend then finds her claiming

Trojan War
Was The Trojan War Just?
The Trojan War was a Greek mythological war waged on account of the beautiful Helen, wife of the
Spartan king Menelaus, being stolen from Greece by Paris, Prince of Troy. It is one of the most
important, if not the most important, event in Greek mythology. The dispute originated from a quarrel
between three goddesses, Athena, Hera, and Aphrodite. They were fighting to see who was the fairest
among them. They were sent by Zeus to Paris in order for him to judge them. Paris chose Aphrodite
after she offered to make Helen, the most beautiful of all women, fall in love with him. She then
proceeded to take Helen from Menelaus, with Paris s help and give her to him, thus causing the Trojan
War. Throughout this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For in the end, many innocent lives are taken, therefore a just war is waged only for the right
intentions. After all, the Bible does tell us that there is a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for
war, and a time for peace (Ecclesiastes 3:8). War is not wrong, but it is wrong if waged for the wrong
reasons. Was The Trojan War righteous? The Bible says, Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a
reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34). After all, what is righteousness? It is acting in accord with
moral or divine law. This is not the kind of divinity defined by the divine gods of ancient Greece, but
the divinity that comes from the true Lord. According to His laws, waging a war on account of
beautiful woman, is not righteous, or in alignment with moral law. And to consider material gain over
the preservation of innocent life is not war for the right intention (righteousness). In a just war, the
ultimate goal should be to re establish peace. Consequently, the war must have begun in turmoil,
without peace. In this case, however, the war caused strife and turmoil. Before the war, the two
countries got along reasonably. During and after the war, there was hatred. Now that is not the result
of a just war, or even the goal. In the first place, anyway, there was no consideration of ultimate peace.
No, only vanity and material gain were in the mind of the king and the people of Greece. If the
authorities of Greece and Troy were putting peace

  • 2. The Roles Of The Wampanoag, And The Iroquois And Iroquois Before the American Revolution, Native Americans created diverse and complex societies and organized them around common principles. Relationships to land and leadership played important roles in structuring Native life, but served unique functions in each community. For both the Iroquois and Wampanoag, their relationships to land embodied their lifeways; their land was their identity, their resource, their claim to power and sovereignty, and more. While the Iroquois vested leadership powers in the institution of the Great League of Peace, the Wampanoag depended on the leadership of powerful sachems such as Massasoit and Metacomet. However, both the Iroquois and Wampanoag used leadership in their tribes to preserve peace to a degree and protect their sovereignty when dealing with Europeans and other Natives. Despite their similarities and differences, the Wampanoag and Iroquois distinctively used their relationships to land and leadership to protect their interests. The Iroquois of New York and Ontario viewed their land as entwined with their identity. The Iroquoian nations had a special relationship to their land, as they believed divine forces formed it for them. The Iroquois Creation Story, as recorded by John Norton, described how the Iroquois believed a female deity formed the earth for them (Calloway 50). Because the Iroquois believed in an intimate and divine relationship to their land, they internalized the land as the basis of their identity. The Iroquois also ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Critical Analysis Of Madame Bovary Allison Witt September 28, 2017 Literature Core Professor O Har A Fantasy World In Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert shapes Emma, the protagonist, into a woman who deceives herself, through romantic novels, into believing her life is better than it actually is. Emma like most things in her life romanticized what marriage would do for her. At the start of her marriage to Charles, she believed marriage would be the means at which she transitioned from a farm girl to a wealthy woman. She believed that marriage would bring her all she had longed for. However, her marriage to Charles is opposite to that. Thus, she is constantly searching for something or someone to satisfy her. She spends majority of the novel aspiring to be a part of the upper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Flaubert use of they and them, further separates Emma from the festivities of the upper class. Additionally, as Emma is preparing for the ball, she is striving to appear as extravagant as possible. She did her hair according to the directions of the hairdresser, and put on the barege dress (Flaubert, 42 44) Thus, Flaubert emphasizes that Emma s is unable to prepare for the ball without directions implying that she is not able to be a part of the upper class events without guidance. Therefore, her only connection to the upper class at the ball are her clothes. Also, Flaubert further separates Emma and Charles from the rest of the guest, by having them arrive in a dog cart (Flaubert, 41). Hence, Flaubert advocates that no matter how much the middle class aspires to be a part of the upper class through material items they will never have the means to do so. Flaubert further emphasizes the separation between Emma and the rest of the guests when he writes: Emma was listening to a conversation full of words she did not understand (Flaubert, 45). Flaubert is highlighting how out of place Emma is, yet how aloof Emma remains. She is still listening even though she doesn t understand what they are saying. Overall, Flaubert utilizes perspective in order to highlight Emma s aspirations to be a part of the upper class, through her appearance and material items. Ultimately, Flaubert is critiquing the French middle class in that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Cross-Cultural in Outsourced Film Early in our nation s history, white settlement of the Americas began a long standing tradition of misunderstanding and hostility between Native American tribes and United States society. Intercultural communication barriers lent themselves to assumptions and intolerance, which led to warfare, bloodshed, and the eventual destruction of an entire culture s traditional ways of life. Today, stereotypical representations of the cowboys and Indians of the 1800s continue to perpetuate hurtful misconceptions that further thwart attempts at understanding between the cultures. One motion picture, released almost two decades ago, served to demonstrate how a thoughtful, respectful approach across cultural boundaries might have resulted in a more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, Beebe, Beebe, and Redmond s concept of different communication codes also plays into this scene due to Stands With a Fist s limited memory of the English language and Dunbar s inability to understand the Lakota exchanges between Stands With a Fist and Kicking Bird. These factors combine to add a great deal of tension to the exchange because Stands With a Fist s fear of Dunbar s differences is explicitly demonstrated through her reserved behavior toward him, and Dunbar infers that she is uncomfortable but not the reasons why. Dunbar and Kicking Bird attempt to seek information about one another by asking questions and listening carefully to the answers. However, their efforts are thwarted by Stands With a Fist s initial reluctance to create what Beebe, Beebe, and Redmond (2008) refer to as a third culture (p. 111), in which the three could create an atmosphere of acceptance and find common ground upon which to learn about each other. Stands With a Fist could have acted as a more effective facilitator by using her prior knowledge of white culture to develop mindfulness (p. 113) of both Dunbar s and Kicking Bird s backgrounds to help them understand one another and answer each other s questions. Although the motion picture ends with a sense of certain doom for the Lakota people at the hands of white civilization, Dances With Wolves (Wilson Costner, 1990) served to illustrate for millions of viewers the roles sensitivity and mutual respect can play ... Furthermore, non physician health care providers may be granted the authority to order imaging studies, and their ordering patterns are likely to reflect the behavior of their supervising Physicians (American College of Radiology). Last image hold is when the last image taken is held on the monitor after the x ray is terminated. The growing popularity is a factor of its geographically widespread demographics, the increasing economic influence of Latin America, the rich culture associated with its speakers and its popularity on the Internet (surpassed only by English). • 7. Research Paper On Charles Lindbergh Charles Lindbergh is most famously known for being the first person ever to cross the Atlantic Ocean nonstop. Charles Lindbergh was born on February 4, 1902 in Detroit. Charles grew up on a farm, his dad a lawyer and mother a chemistry teacher. At the age of 18 Charles entered the university of Wisconsin. He showed an interest in Engineering, but soon became even more interested in aviation. At this time aviation was in a very early state. Planes are becoming safer, but they are still very unreliable. At the same time the public is watching the sky with anticipation and aw. Aviation is in the spotlight and the world is watching. Charles is one of those individuals watching and he is captivated. After two years of college, Charles drops out and peruses his aviation dreams. He moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where he joined the Nebraskan Aircraft Corporation. This Corporation would buy old military planes and fix them up. This gave Charles a chance to learn how to work on planes and understand them. Charles got the chance to go out with one of the pilots on a barnstorming tour, he was a wing walker. Charles would go on one more tour before heading to Georgia, where he would purchase his own surplus airplane. Charles went on a single barnstorming tour by himself before joining the Army Air Service. This army flying school was extremely hard, but Charles excelled. • 8. Banning Concealed Carry There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870 (MST). Guns are not a bad thing, it s the people carrying them. That is why I think there should be Gun control that does not abuse the power of the rightfully armed. Stronger regulations are okay, but they should not violate the Second Amendment. All states should have carry laws allowing concealed carry in all states, while banning open carry of guns. Why should open carry should be banned? Because it could be considered flourishing a gun. For example, Texas is now allowing open carry. Patrik Jonsson, a staff writer at Student Issue Research (SIR), reports that Police are discouraged from even asking about someone s holstered gun. If they do, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Open carry should be banned in all states because you re practically flourishing your gun for everyone, including criminals, to see all the time. With concealed carry, you re required to provide a permit showing you are legally carrying, However, with open carry an officer can walk up and ask for your gun permit, but can do little if they refuse. Open carry could allow a mass murderer or a terrorist to walk in public with a weapon and gather little suspicion from nearby people. Concealed carry is not visible to others. In a state with open carry, your gun could be snatched out of a open holster. In a state that allows concealed carry, who s going to know you have a gun? Guns are weapons of self defense, not toys to flourish to the public eye. Guns don t kill people, people kill people. This is why we should have tighter regulations on guns. Again, my opinion is that concealed carry should be allowed in all states. In addition, all states should have carry rules and open carry should be banned. We can try stop mass shootings, but not by restricting the average person s gun rights. We can stop some of the killing, but let s not make the righteous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mentoring In The Mentorship Summary Text Purpose Dr. Lois Zachary provides a well organized, hands on approach to research based mentoring in The Mentor s Guide: Facilitating Effective Learning Relationships (2012). This book serves as an excellent introduction for an individual new to the mentoring role; it is also a resource for current mentors. Zachary (2012) provides solid examples, concrete exercises, and a roadmap for building an effective mentoring relationship. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Zachary presents the mentorship as a learning partnership between mentor and mentee. This reinforces my understanding of the nature of adult learning and the notion that the mentor is less an authority figure and more of a facilitator. In my work as a mentor for special education directors, I will utilize Zachary s four stage approach for encouraging learning and promoting change. This reading has helped me to see mentorship as a process with distinctive components, as defined by Zachary (2012). During the preparation phase, I will focus on ensuring I fully understand the reasoning behind the mentoring relationship (Zachary 2012). I will accomplish this through personal reflection and a collaborative discussion with the mentee. I will remember that this phase sets the tone for the relationship. The next step, negotiating, is the business stage and the time when mentoring partners come to an agreement on the learning goals and define the content and process of the relationship (Zachary 2012). It is essential that during this phase I facilitate the conversation to enable a productive meeting and set measurable goals with aligned activities that will ensure they attain their goals. Part of the stage that I need to work on is creating a shared understanding of boundaries and limits. I will accomplish this through communicating the delineation between the mentor and mentee s role and responsibilities. The third stage, the enabling phase, takes the longest amount of time because it is when the implementation of the learning occurs (Zachary 2012). During this period, I will support the mentee s learning by communicating the goals and providing thoughtful and timely feedback and encouragement. I will ensure that additional time is dedicated to supporting the mentee s work. Before reading this book, I was less confident during this phase and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. How Did Connecticut Get Its Shape Connecticut got its shape in three major ways. Those are ways are glaciation, plate tectonics, and weathering and erosion. One major way Connecticut got its shape was from glaciation. For example, glaciation formed Jobs Pond. Jobs Pond is a giant kettle hole, which is a depression caused by the impact of a massive chunk of ice, or a glacier. According to The Mystery Of Jobs Pond, geologists and hydrologists the water level rises and falls with the groundwater level in the area, because porous sand and gravel make up the bottom of the pond. A kettle hole is formed by a glacier, so glaciation formed Jobs Pond. Another landscape formed by glaciation is recessional moraines. A recessional moraine is a pile of rocks left behind when a glacier recedes, or moves back. As a glacier moves, it picks up rocks in a process called plucking. Then, as the glacier starts to melt, it recedes. As it does this it drops off rocks, forming a recessional moraine. • 11. Beauty Is Beauty Meaning Beauty can be seen in every shape, form, or size. Despite the difference in its existence, it cannot be treated different. Beauty is beauty. Here Claude McKay, Ben Jonson, and Paul Dunbar allow us to see beauty in different forms, however all meaning the same thing. From beauty in simplicity, beauty in showing one s true emotions, and beauty in equality. The White City , Still To Be Neat, Still To Be Dressed , and We Wear The Mask , reveal the definition of beauty in deviating embodiments. The juxtaposition, repetition, and antithesis in the poems helps clarify the author s purpose. In Claude McKay s The White City, the beauty he perceives in the city is juxtaposed with the reality that dwells in it. From a distance, McKay views the city of his dreams, he describes it having towers as high they touch the clouds, though, the city s environment fills him with hatred it is the only thing keeping him alive . Although, he describes it as heaven in the white world s hell (Arp, 892). The strong opposing connotation McKay notes, symbolizes the atmosphere in the city he so desires. His heaven would be what the people in the city would consider hell . Since the poem was written during the 1920s, a moment when racism and segregation was highly concentrated. McKay describes heaven to be a place where blacks can be mixed with the whites, which for the white city it would be hell. Likewise, for the white city heaven would be McKay s hell, and conversely. The act of prioritizing mainly ensures that critical segments of the company are first to be factored in the budgeting process and that they are adequately funded at all times (Wyatt, 2013). In that process, it is easy for the company to identify deficits and adequately plan for loans or stock financing. Since a budget is a component of sound and responsible financial management, tracking its formulation and implementation can go a long way to ensuring its objectives are adequately met. Sound budget management strategies include keeping a proper record of all the expenses v. allocations. Also, consistently review the implementation to be sure of the anticipated outcome. But, the lessons you learn and the person you become in the aftermath is a little easier to explain. My mother was my best friend. She was ornery, funny, and brilliant in her own way. She always knew how to soothe me and she always made the effort to, even when she was combatting her own issues. In 2009, my parents divorced due to my father s anger issues and drug use. In addition to becoming a single parent, she was also physically disabled due to work injuries and dealt with pain almost constantly. Radiology Medical Advantages And Disadvantages In most radiology modalities, it is hard to see the many different soft tissue like the vessels and arteries without the help of a contrast agent. The soft tissue and blood vessels are composed of a different density which in turn makes the plain x ray images not as beneficial as for bones to diagnosis. Differentiating between two adjacent tissues is proven to be very useful with the help of a radiopaque substance.2 This in turn is the reason a contrast agent is needed to enhance the vasculature nature of the human body. Examples of contrast agents commonly used are barium, Iodine 300 or 370, Gastrografin, or Gadolinium. The study of the blood or lymph vessels in the body after an injection of a radiopaque contrast agent is called Angiography.1 Obtaining the images for a patient with obstructed coronary vessels is called and coronary angiogram. When a patient is given a contrast agent for a coronary angiogram, it can cause some significant health risks that can be unforeseen. Many complications can come from too much contrast agent being administered or by not monitoring the patients creatinine before the exam. This is one of the causing factors that may lead to the patient having kidney failure, cardiac issues, allergic reactions or even anaphylactic shock.2 Without the proper laboratory procedures done and close monitoring during an exam, the patient can be put at an extremely high risk of complications due to the contrast agent. Still, even without proof, individuals worldwide hold true to their faith each day. After studying faith and religion in texts written by scholars with varying backgrounds, it is easy to see faith is something which is widely disputed. Comparison of Sigmund Freud s The Future of an Illusion and Paul Tillich s Dynamics of Faith, fully displays the discrepancies in points of view on the function of faith, as well as the necessity of faith, in society; while the comparison of Viktor E. Throughout his book, Tillich references faith as an ultimate concern to emphasize the importance of faith in the personality of individuals. Furthermore, Tillich believes faith is a vital part of human nature and that even the rejection of faith is, in itself, an act of faith. This displays Tillich s understanding that faith will never disappear from society because it is a piece of the puzzle in what makes up humanity (Tillich). After summarizing both arguments, discernibly Sigmund Freud and Paul Tillich would hold opposing views on both the function of faith and the future of faith. The disagreement would begin with the function of religion in society, displayed when Tillich writes, The question raised by this book is whether such belief is based on insight or on misunderstanding, and the question is unambiguously that the rejection of faith is rooted in a complete misunderstanding of the nature of faith (146). Freud believes religion is man being immature, but Tillich feels differently. Tillich perceives the rejection of faith as the misunderstanding of the true nature of faith. If Tillich and Freud were to hold a debate, Tillich would most likely discuss how Freud misunderstands faith s nature. Freud, however, would respond with a discussion about how faith is man looking for security in the world. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Effect Of Water Hardness On Our Health Introduction Water hardness is an ongoing problem across the globe. While not detrimental to our health, there are many issues that arise from having hard water in households. You may be asking, what is hard water? Isn t it all liquid? The hardness of water actually refers to the presence of divalent cations, or ions with a +2 charge. In drinking water, these are most commonly Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions ( Water Hardness ). Water hardness can cause a buildup of minerals on surfaces such as dishes, sinks, showers and pipes. While the aesthetic problems are not that important, the buildup in the pipes can be very harmful. The scale that builds up causes utility bills to increase because more energy is required to deliver water to its final ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The water will turn to blue when you reach this point. Once you find how many drops of EDTA it took, you can calculate the concentration of calcium and magnesium in the water, as seen in the results section. EDTA is not always precise since the turning point will often lie between drops, which can result in a large margin of error, especially for small samples. For a more accurate test, we turn to AA, or Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry. This water hardness test uses a machine to aspirate the water sample. This gas then is burned in a flame, and a light of a range of wavelengths is passed through it. The machine then calculates the amount of divalent cations in the water by comparing the relative levels of light passed through the sample at each wavelength to known atomic absorption levels. You then use a trend line from known samples readings, to figure out what the concentration of calcium or magnesium there is. These two different tests are both used in this lab so that we can be assured we ve done them right. The hardness of one test should be similar to the hardness obtained from the other. Using these tests, we created a hypothesis to test. Our group was testing which part of Pennsylvania has the highest mineral content and hardness of their water. He is sometime called the chosen one, as he has the power to either bring the country to its glory, or bring ruin and devastation. Thus, throughout the history of Israel, the three kings Saul, David, and Solomon where all chosen by God, and each of them had contributed to the development of the nation. Before the time of the three kings, those who reign over Israel were the Judges. However, the beginning of 1 Samuel unfolded the fading of their era (New International Version). By the time the leadership lay in the hands of Eli and his ungodly sons, God had stopped speaking to them and gave His guidance to Samuel (Hinson and Yates 163). Thus, in time, Samuel gained his judgeship and led the nation to victory and peace. However, as he aged, the people wish to have a king. Since Samuel son s did not proved to be faithful to the Covenant the way their father did, the people believed it is necessary to requested for a king (Constable, Notes on 1 Samuel). They claimed: (w)e want a king over us. Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles (1 Samuel 8: 19 20, NIV). Both modern day heroes, like Bono and Anglo Saxon heroes, like Beowulf, try to improve their societies, but do it in different ways and for different reasons. Bono has organized and created many foundations that help and save people all over the world. Another Difference these two types of heroes have is why they fight their battles. I sold my life for this treasure and I sold it well (Raffel 820 821). The Anglo Saxon heroic code states that Anglo Saxon heroes are seeking fortune. Beowulf makes many references in the poem of how he seeks wealth. Modern day heroes are the complete of this. All of Bono s foundations are non profit and the money they raise goes right to various charities. In modern day society it is considered greedy for a celebrity to seek money. On the other hand, it is perfectly normal and accepted for an Anglo Saxon hero to seek wealth. It was respected and not uncommon for an Anglo Saxon hero to boast. This is a major difference between Anglo Saxon heroes and modern day heroes. Bono has not once bragged about all of the good things he has done, or the money he makes. Along with the famous case of Phineas Gage (Harlow,1848), many studies have attempted to answer the burning question of either or not lesions to the prefrontal cortex lead to an antisocial behavior. The PFC, which is found in the frontal lobe and has an executive function, helps us have an appropriate response to social situations. Why is it important to study this matter? Because we are social creatures and knowing how to act in society is one of our basic needs. The studies which will be presented show that there is an obvious link between dysfunction of the PFC and an antisocial way of acting. In the developmental neuropsychology literature, it has been proved that social emotional and executive function defects are associated with early damage to the PFC. Piaget (1968) claimed that children learn from experience and this is the way in which they obtain adaptive characteristics. As a symbol itself, the empty hut represents a pathway or tunnel to a dark kind of life one filled with despair, depression, anxiety, anger, fear, hate, and/or any other types of negative human qualities. Near the end of the film, this dark image is shown again, just after Carol kills the landlord with the cut throat razor.
