Color Polka Dots
Another installation is called I m Here, But Nothing (Kusama, 2008). The viewer would enter a
dark room which was set up as a normal kitchen, or living room. However, the room is drowned
in black light. Covered the surface of the walls as well as furniture were multiple color polka dots
with fluorescent glow in the dark paint. The author once again made used of the distinct colorwhile
manipulating lights, to create infinite pattern on a smooth color surface. The dots can be observed
as floating in the air, while defying the space within the room and still defining it. Kusama
illuminated the room only with ultraviolet fluorescent light; thus, the stickers appeared without any
sense of depth, which then is stuck in the viewer s eyes to create

Estragon In Waiting For Godot
The relationship between Vladimir and Estragon in Waiting for Godot. Why do they stay together,
despite frequent suggestions that they part? The dramatist and poet Samuel Beckett, born in 1906
in Ireland, can definitely be addressed as one of the most influential writers of the twentieth
century. Samuel Beckett has been attributed the label of the last modernist as well as the first post
modernist. His plays are filled with dark humour and absurdities, Beckett s play Waiting for Godot
1, which he composed between 1948 1949, is a good example of his minimalistic style and stage
setting. Godot is one of Beckett s most controversial plays and well known in the international
literary world. The play received much criticism in conjunction with... Show more content on

The games are a welcome distraction from the uncertainty of waiting, Vladimir and Estragon both
feel relieved when they find a game to play. Didi and Gogo seem relatively happy and content
playing their games to occupy them during the long wait. Svalkvist argued in her essay; Vladimir
and Estragon create a foundation of values, a self, by choosing their actions and beliefs, i.e.
choosing to continue to wait for Godot and to play games with each other. (14). By playing their
games they simultaneously create meaning and make choices. The men frequently find themselves
in situations in which they must make a choice; the most compelling choice being to stay put and
continue to wait for Godot. The distracting games create meaning, in a way a meaning for both of
their existence, however their games are also being used by Vladimir and Estragon to escape the
reality of the situation; to escape this anguish. (Svalkvist 15). The highly ironic relationship
Vladimir and Estragon have with each other is present throughout the whole play Godot. Karic
stated that the concept of irony is present in their mutual behaviour and their contacts with the
outside world. (239). The protagonists cruelty also plays a significant role in the

Captivity Of North America And Continued As A Significant...
Captivity narratives began with the settlement of North America and continued as a significant
genre in American literature until the end of the nineteenth century. The first captivity narratives
are believed to have been created by Native Americans who were captured by early Spanish
explorers. However, the genre commonly refers to the accounts written by European settlers who
were abducted by Native Americans. European settlers were fleeing to the new land in order to
escape religious persecutions, in order for that to happen, they had to take the land from the Native
Americans which later progressed to kidnapping and captivity of some early settlers.
Both authors clearly establish a sudden attack in the beginning of the narratives. Later during their
time in captivity, both authors make it clear that they are forced to change locations due to a
forced march by the Indians that took them captive. Examples of sale or trade are evident in each
narrative. One key example is when Mary Rowlandson states she was sold to King Philip s wife s
sister by a Narragansett Indian in her narrative The Sovereignty and Goodness of God .(132)
Finally these two narratives are completely different in the last key point in the captivity narrative
outline , the ransom or escape.
Ethnography is a hidden trait found in early American Literature captivity narratives. Ethnography
has been perceived as a discursive bridge between different cultures, and captivity narratives settings

Intercultural Abilities Nurses Should Have
There is an increasing number of diverse cultures within the health care system. Therefore, nurses in
general, or any healthcare professionals not only need to know how to care of patients from their
culture, but they also must be able to care of patients from other cultures with different health
beliefs, values, and practices. Cultural views of individuals influence their perceptions and
decisions of healthattitudes and health cares; in order to care for people across different languages
and cultures, nurses need to develop cultural sensitivity, awareness, competence, and humility
(Creasia Parker, 2007). Among these, cultural competent and humility are the foundation to provide
optimal quality care within diverse groups of people.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examples of How I will Use this Information in My Practice As a healthcare professional, I
acknowledge the key role that culture plays to influence behavior in patients. Therefore, I haven t
let any cultural barrier limit my ability to meet the needs of my patients or reduce their
opportunities to benefit from services that I can provide. Language difference is a challenge to both
paitiens and nurses in communicating about health beliefs, values, descriptions of symptoms (Polan
Taylor, 2011). Therefore, patiens can become frustrated, or are unable to comply with treatment if
they do not understand. In addition, patients were more likely to ask more questions and will have
better understanding with nurses who also speak the same language as theirs (Polan Taylor, 2011).
In order to enhance my communication with non English speaking patients, I usually use language
line service or interpreters. All written translators such as consent forms, patient educations and
instructions are printed in languages appropriate with the patient s if they are available. For
example, when ill or injured, Hispanic people frequently consult with other family members and
often ask them to come along to medical or hospital visits. Hispanic families are more likely to be

Development and Further Enlargement of European Union
ACCESSION CRITERIA: HISTORY OF DEVELOPMENT AND FURTHER ENLARGEMENT
OF THE EU: WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO TURKEY
Building of the European Union (EU) is a political project intended to eradicate returning wars and
to fortify autonomous values, prosperity, and constancy on the European continent 1. The plan of
European Union come out and developed in the course of history, and Turkey has been an element
of this common history and tradition. The Ottoman Empire, modern day Turkey s governmental
ancestor, had its most expanded provinces in the Balkans started in 14th century. For almost five
centuries, the Ottoman Empire was a significant player in the region and a component of the
Concert of Europe1. Also to its profound historic line, Turkey s relationships with Europehave been
revived with current geopolitical growths. Turkey plays a moderating function in the European
border as a not religious and autonomous country. A lot of people argue that abiding change in
Turkey on its way to EU succession may fortify Turkey s stabilizing function with relationships to
its neighbors and in the EU, and therefore add to safety in Europe2. Moreover, Turkey is a regional
power and that adds to regional safety in the Middle East, and consequently, in the US. Turkey s
succession might as well lessen the cultural segregations in Europe, particularly those pertaining to
immigration and the assimilation of Muslims into European societies. The subsequent curriculum
will give a wide setting

Jesus Creed Response Paper
The Jesus Creed has really helped me to look at Scripture from what I believe is a more biblical
and Jesus centered perspective. While I have read the words Jesus used from Deuteronomy 6:4 9
and Leviticus 19:18 many times in Scripture, I never considered how all His teachings might have
stemmed from them. I did not know Jesus had amended the Shema of Judaism because I didn t
know there was a Shema before reading this book, but now knowing this I can more clearly see
what Jesus was doing. He was correcting a misunderstanding how some used and understood the
Torah. Most paid excellent attention to the letter of the Law; ... Show more content on

Just as the Kaddish speaks of God s name being magnified, sanctified and that His kingdom would
be established soon; The Kaddish of Jesus (Lord s Prayer) does likewise. The difference is that
Jesus changes how we approach God (as Abba), that we should love others as well and petition for
others too. So we see that the Lord s Prayer is really made up of Love of God petitions and Love
of others petitions, which we see stems from Jesus Shema. Simply put, the Lord s Prayer is
Jesus teaching us to pray the Shema, He radically altered both by redefining love of God and by
adding love of others. I never knew much if anything about Judaism s Shema or Kaddish
however, now that I do it has made a world of difference in how I view the Gospels, especially
many of the parables within them. I certainly now why most Torah observant Jews wanted to get
Jesus out of the picture as fast as possible, He changed everything. Who was this illegitimate
child, as most considered Him, to be changing such things and making Himself out to be God?
These bits of information are extremely valuable and have helped me to really have a better feel
for just how radical a shift Jesus was presenting to those of His day, something we just don t see
too clearly today. As I mentioned prior, Jesus taught that we should approach God as Abba. It s

Fast Food Industry Essay
The fast food industry has come a long way from its humble beginnings in the suburbs of
Southern California. The industry has grown from being a commodity that worked to satisfy its
customers efficiently to being filled with corporations that are looking to make the largest profits
possible. This has led it to be very involved in political matters and along with the meat industry, it
has a very strong hold over foodpolitics. The effects of this on the American society have become
noticeable, with obesity rates skyrocketing and the overall health of Americans in a pitiful state. It
has also become a very significant in terms of the American economy, as it is one of the largest

Customer health is completely in the hands of the establishment and standards must be met in
order to ensure the health of customers. Due to many loopholes in current standard, it is easy for
companies to take advantage of what is in their food. In order to address public health for the
better, many fast food establishments have made public commitments to use only wholesome and
healthy ingredients in their food. The use of legally binding codes of conduct and ethics in fast
food help to ensure public safety and proper treatment of employees. Enforcement of these codes
will make for both a better image of fast food and receiving more trust from the public.
Over time, an easy scapegoat for consumers suffering from obesity has been fast food itself. The
great taste and relatively cheap price of fast food is claimed as making it an attractive option to
those with low income as well as the middle class, to some extent. Fast food is a long term trend
that is of high impact to modern culture and living. However, it s hard to entirely place the blame
on the fast food industry in the ever growing epidemic of obesity. Although it can easily be
identified as a source for what is linked to obesity, it is more of a moral standpoint where the
decision to dine out falls upon the customer. Fast food restaurants have gone far and wide to clean
up their image, offering healthy choices, providing information on their food s nutrition as well

The Key Messages Of The Foundation Phase
This assignment will be exploring how the key messages of the Foundation Phase are applied
throughout all aspects of the curriculum. It will analyse childhood theorists sentiments about the
Foundation Phase, the notion of play in learning, both indoor and outdoor, and Personal Social
Development, Well Being and Cultural Diversity. The Foundation Phase is constructed to provide
consistency to each child s education during a crucial stage of their development. However, the
consistency does not affect the challenge of the curriculum: Children are given more opportunities
to enhance their knowledge through practical activities, open ended questions and problem solving.

the children acquire knowledge about themselves, the relationships they will encounter whilst as

Inequality In Australia
Distribution of Income Economic journalist Chelsea Gwynne investigates Australia s distribution of
income and its impact on the overall standard of living. Income distribution sits at the top of the
political agenda as Inequality between those with the most and those with the least wealth in
Australia is on the rise. Despite consistent public support for reducing inequality in the distribution
of income, the government is seeking to reduce income support. In fact, in recent months the
Liberal government has begun to argue that inequality is not just unavoidable, but also beneficial.
Rather than use the welfare system to redistribute income, the government is seeking to ensure that
welfare payments grow at a significantly slower rate than wages... Show more content on

Thus inequality may have a generally slowing effect on economic growth (Holmes, 2014). A
number of economists have argued that inequality leads to economic instability. One mechanism by
which this happens is that the rich consume a smaller proportion of their income than the poor.
They save money, which people on lower incomes would spend. This leads to a reduction in
aggregate demand, which in turn leads to unemployment (Holmes, 2014). In response, governments
take measures to stimulate demand, such as lowering interest rates. This feeds into asset bubbles
for example, unsustainably high housing prices (OANDA,

Incident Action Plan Essay
Planning, organizing, directing, and controlling will build on each other during this emergency.
The planning process in the scenario started with the initial response to the incident. The IC will use
the planning process to provide strategic, operational, and tactical planning to develop an Incident
Action Plan(IAP) once he gets and understanding of the situation. Once the IC has formulated
reasonable incident objects and strategies, then the IC will prioritize them. This will help the IC
plan for and determine what specific resources and support requirements are necessary for an
effective response, and develop a plan to make the best use of these resources and support functions.
Moreover, this is where Area Command Section Chiefs and other command staff can collectively
gather information to support the IC s objectives and strategies for the incident. During the first few
minutes of the incident, responders will receive the plan through a verbal briefing due to the
complexity of the incident. Once Area Command and the IC develop the plan, organizing comes

William Shakespeare Accomplishments
William Shakespeare was a man of many talents, entertaining millions with his poems and plays

William Shakespeare wrote and worked on his on bodies of work throughout the duration of his

always be reading book further improving on his education as an adult. William Shakespeare had a

Neanderthal and Early Modern Humans Essay
Neanderthal and Early Modern Humans
The history of life on earth goes back to millions of years. Many species and creatures evolved and
changed through time, leading up to what we know today as, modern man. One of the creatures
most similar to modern man is the Neanderthals; they are sometimes referred to as early modern
humans.
An article entitled Early man steered clear of Neanderthal romance by Michael Hopkin, explains
that there was a discovery that early human ancestors of modern man did not breed with their
cousins, the Neanderthals, according to DNA that has been studied. Neanderthals vanished from
Europe between 30,000 and 40,000 years ago, roughly the time that truly modern man made his first
appearance in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were 24 Neanderthal remains and 40 early modern human remains that were studied. The
bimolecular preservation of DNA of five early humans and four Neanderthals was helpful enough
for the preservation.
All four Neanderthals yielded the mtDNA sequences similar to those previously determined from
Neanderthal individuals, whereas none of the five early modern humans contained such mtDNA
sequences. In combination with current mtDNA data, this excludes any large genetic contribution
by Neanderthals to early modern humans, but does not rule out the possibility of a smaller
contribution (Serre, 16 March 2004).
Therefore, early modern humans and Neanderthals could have been around and breeding at the
same time, it is just a small chance.
Between 30,000 and 40,000 years ago, Neanderthals were gone from Europe (where these fossils
were found). Right around that time, the early modern humans were beginning to migrate to parts
of Europe. This brings up the point that it could be possible that Neanderthals and early modern
humans came eye to eye, but no one knows what the reactions and attitudes were like if that were
true. This is a question of the history of life, did they exist simultaneously, and did they interact?
Despite intense research efforts, no consensus has been reached about the genetic relationship
between early modern humans and archaic human forms such as the Neanderthals (Serre, 16 March
2004). It is a

Recurring Scaffold In The Scarlet Letter
The Recurring Scaffold Through day and night, the scaffold is a place of punishment, awaiting its
next victim. People pass by wondering who the next victim is going to be. This public punishment
causes many to change and work to preserve their reputation. Despite this, the scaffold turns into a
constant place of punishment, in The Scarlet Letterby Nathaniel Hawthorne. Hester s love for
Dimmesdale and Dimmesdale s cowardicehold significant meanings in the novel, which lead up
to Dimmesdale gaining a more mature mindset. Specifically, Hester s punishment portrays her
love for Dimmesdale in the first scaffold scene. Hester refuses to reveal the name of the father in
spite of everyone asking her. Dimmesdale tells Hester to reveal the name by saying, Be not
silent from any mistaken pity and tenderness for him; for, believe me, Hester, though he were to
step down from a high place, and stand there beside thee, on thy pedestal of shame, yet better
were it so, than to hide a guilty heart through life, (63) to explain that it is better for Hester to

Questions On The Doctrine Of Discovery Essay
Thomas Berumen

AIS 304 Midterm
1.
The Doctrine of Discovery was a concept used to further colonization and strip land from the
indigenous people. According to Class 7 Lecture, it allowed colonial powers to colonize the land
that they discovered even if indigenous people already lived there. The doctrine provides title to
the nation making the discovery of the land even if the soil is inhabited by natives. Provided the
land excluded European sovereign . When European powers establish rule in what is now the
United States the government was given the ownership of the lands until they felt the need use of
the land. The Indians currently residing in the lands were just inhabitants. The doctrine set for by
Chief Justice Marshall was set forth to mimic colonial powers and prevent further European
expansion on U.S. soils. Following the Johnson v McIntosh case, it established a preventive
measure of Indians and Indian tribes from selling the land to anyone but the United States
government. This was to prevent European colonies to develop in the United States.
The doctrine was important for the development and expansion of colonial powers, but the
implementation was a negative effect by forcefully taking lands from the indigenous. It disowned
the culture and lifestyles of millions. Rationally it is a shame that the government chose to deny
aboriginal title owners as they should have been allowed to keep their land. I agree in the decision

The Bible Study Of Melchizedek In The Bible

Melchizedek
GENESIS 14:18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of
God Most High. 19 And he blessed him and said: Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor
of heaven and earth; 20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your
hand. And he gave him a tithe of all. (NKJV)
Melchizedek is a priest and king of Salem mentioned three times in the Old Testamentand once in
the New testament. He is first mentioned in the book of Genesis in the fourteenth chapter (See
above). He is said to have met Abraham after a battle victory. He blessed Abraham while feeding
his men who were famished after the battle. In turn Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth of his
belongings. In Biblical times this was a gesture showing high religious status. This is significant
because Melchizedek s name means king of righteousness. The next time Melchizedek is
mentioned in the Bible is in one of David s writings in Psalms. It is obvious in Psalm 110 that
David held a strong respect for Melchizedek. He is portrayed as a Christ figure due to his
extreme righteousness. In the book of Matthew, Melchizedek s priesthood is even put in a
category of its own. This is used in a way as a metaphor to represent Jesus new reign and how it is
different from anything that had ever been seen. Hebrews 6:20 states that [Jesus] has become a
high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. In the Moffat

Example Of Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous The name of the meeting was Grove City Wave Three Group, and it
was located at the United Methodist Church on 2710 Columbus Street in Grove City. The
meeting took place on Sunday at 7:30 pm and is held almost every Sunday. The reason I had
choose this location for the meeting was because it was near my home. When I first entered the
room I was expecting the stereotypical meeting, which is shown in movies where there is a
circle of chairs in a room with no tables. But once I entered the room, there were plenty of seats
and it did not appear to be dark and gloomy. The room was located in the basement of the church,
and had the seats set were the participants are able to see one another. I was anxious of how other
members would react to my presence, considering I was in a church. I was greeted when I
entered the room. My anxiety slowly went away, when I realized that these are people really
dealing with a difficult issue in their lives. It reminded me of how vulnerable it can be to be
around others and admit to a weakness within you, to get better. It takes a lot of courage to go to
a meeting, and want to change. The members of the meeting varied in all ages and ethnicities.
There were young people as well as older people. When I was in the meeting I was asked to

were very understanding and did not mind at all. But it felt very awkward for me, because I did not
want to impose. One participant explained to me that there have been other students that have

yourself if it is possible that workplace conditions were the catalyst or the enabler. Maybe a
charge nurse or head nurse ignored the system of budding. The new nurse shoud work together
(working side to side) with senior staff instead of having her work entirely by herself. Eventho the
charge nurse is always assisting her, but the charge nurse has many other duties to bear away.
Often, when the conflict happens, it is more volatile and more debilitating to the organization than
it was initially. An open conflict or interpersonal disagreement festers just below the surface in the
work environment. It comes up to the surface whenever enabled, and always at the worst possible
instant.
The following are strategies for conflict resolution:

Self Efficacy In The Book Thief
Responsibility is accepting that you are the cause and the solution of the matter unknown. This
quote is true we need to accept that we are the cause and we need to also accept that we are
Imperative to find out the solution to the matter at hand. Without Self Efficacy we could not be
able to do this. We would be able to acceptResponsibility but then we could never be able to
truly accept that we can change we can be the solution that we can make the difference. Self
Efficacy plays a major role on how we can advance in life or how we approach a challenge.
To start out we will talk about Spider Man. A struggling teenager who had been bite by a
radioactive spider. He was so shocked and surprised as well as flabbergasted. When his uncle
ben was killed by a burglar which peter accepts responsibility for him dying cause he would of
never been there if it was not for him wanting to go to that fight. So he took personal responsibility
and train using his newfound powers vowing to put Cash Register Thief (later known as sandman)

Film Noir In The Dark Knight And The Third Man
Movies have changed and it appears that less of them fit the classic guidelines of what original film
noir demands. Film noir is defined as a type of crime film featuring cynical and malevolent
characters in an unflattering setting. Such settings may include an ominous atmosphere that is
enforced by shadowy photography and foreboding background music (Dictionary). Accurate
portrayals of the genreinclude, but are not limited to: Christopher Nolan s The Dark Knight, Carol
Reed s The Third Man, and John Huston s The Maltese Falcon. These films are perfect examples of
film noirbecause they are stylized crime dramas with similar attributes. I would like to start off
with Christopher Nolan s The Dark Knight. Christopher Nolan did an excellent job of making a film
noir with a modern feel. Nolan used a great screenplay, had an appropriate use of... Show more

The most intriguing aspect of the movie is that viewer cannot solely identify who is good and
who is bad . An example of this concept is the Joker (Heath Ledger). The Joker is essentially the
villain of the film. Yet Nolan humanizes the Joker, causing viewers to build a sort of sympathy
towards his character. Another character who exemplifies this is Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). In
the beginning of the movie, Dent is the district attorney who is nobly trying to rid the city of bad
influence. Until, he and his girlfriend Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) are targets of the Joker.
When Batman chooses to save Dent over Rachel due to limited time, he turns to the dark side and
becomes known as Two Face. Then there is, Bruce Wayne/Batman

Music During The Swing Era
Although somewhat ironic, the Swing Era all started with something depressing and negative. The
entertainment and the political worlds are correlated to one another. While financial was dropping
rapidly for many Americans, they look for something to fill that stress and burden, and that
something was music; some might even say this era was a new beginning, especially to the
minorities (Schuller 5). Swing musicis a branched of Jazzmusic that became popular after the World
War II; however, there isn t a definite definition for swing music itself. Benny Goodman, an
American jazz clarinetist and known as the King of Swing , quoted swing as something difficult to
explain like the Mona s Lisa smile... It remains something you take 5,000 words... Show more

Entertainment is constantly evolving as each generation comes and go, but music is never
forgotten. Swing music and all type of music will always be around because they will always
give new ideas and relatable feeling regardless of the era. Music made an impact to history
during the segregation time, and it has the world itself to not judge people based on look but on
emotions and how people can relate to one another. Especially during the Depression, everybody,
color and white, were all suffering the financial burden and was able to relate to each other
because in the end everyone is in the same boat. Swing music brought people together and new
technique into the music world. With these specialized concept, new ones are developed daily
and is shared with one another. Like all music, it brings people together, and that s is the beauty
of it. Music does not have to exact and perfect; it is to expressed feelings when words itself
cannot describe it. Swing music was a positive bright light during a dark time and keeping
people spirit up. Listening to one of Benny Goodman s arrangement, Sing, sing, sing , it gave an
insight of that upbeat tone right in the beginning. Something about the melody makes the
audiences want to jump on their feet and move along with it. Goodman s clarinet solo is very
powerful and cannot go unnoticed. The instruments are played very vibrantly and makes the
idea of wanting to live life to the fullest. I imagine the crowd, the musicians, dancers all wanting
to move or have that urge to let their body move as if there s an itch somewhere. Overall the
Swing era is what American needed when it was down in dump. This era is special and probably
cannot be repeated, but new era similar is practical and could

Yoga And The Yoga Community
Yoga, being one of the most effective self help approaches to life and living, invites me to help
ensure that it is being integrated with maximum wisdom related to breathing. This page is about
supporting and educating the Yoga community in its quest for superior knowledge and
effectiveness about proper breathing. It is our responsibility to alert everyone about this as there are
probably millions of students and teachers with an unclear or distorted idea of healthy breathing.
Nowadays, you can take weekend courses and call yourself a teacher. Many teachers are then first
to defend their breathing development proficiency but alas, last to prove it. One needs to
experience good breathing to teach it.
From a Breathing Times subscriber:
Breath is the unifying principal of the three systems mechanics, metabolism and mentality. It is the
psychopharmacological link between conscious and unconscious states. Each of the three
mechanical aspects of breath has specific neurotransmission function. Any technique(s) that
emphasize(s) one aspect of the mechanism exclusively will shift neurometabolism accordingly. Yoga
practices are designed for this purpose, stimulating a specific aspect or relationship of aspects. I
realize that contemporary yogis don t always explain it this way,and I think that also leads to
misuse and abuse. Right knowledge is yoga or union. That union is from bringing together all
aspects, and applying iscernment.

fact that a Muslim girl was in an AA meeting or completely ignore me. I also expected the
meeting as it does on television, people sitting in a circle in a large dim room with donuts and
coffee on a side table along a wall.
In reality, the meeting was held in a colorful classroom, we sat in rows not a circle, but there was

of AA material. Then a young woman named Amari was introduced as the designated speaker for

from coming to meetings in the past or present. She (a Black woman) explained that she often

Why did World War One break out in 1914? The First World War was the most dreadful war ever

Social Media s Impact On The News Industry
Social media has drastically changed how the news industry operates. People may argue whether or
not social media has had a negative or positive effect on journalism. While social media gets the
conversation going between people about major events, opinions can cause inaccuracy in stories.
The time it takes for news to enter the market has shrunk significantly since social media has
become increasingly popular. Citizen Journalismhas also impacted the news industry. What used to
audience has become a team of constant media journalists and content producers. Both of these
changes have had both positive and negative impact on the industry.
In the past, the news organizations, such as the New York Times, were able to have a large
impact on society, acting as a gatekeeper for news being disseminated to their readers. They could
chose to hold onto stories for extended periods of time being confident that there was no other
outlet that had credibility to release the information. Daniel Ellsberg s brought his story on the
Pentagram Papers to the Times at which point they waited twenty two months to publish the
finding after significant internal debate.1 Today, this would simply never happen. Organizations
such as WikiLeaks share and exploit classified news to the public before traditional organizations
have a chance to hold it back. The industry has come such far that there are no industry standards
and guidelines for news organizations and their use for social media. Social

Examples Of Use And Gratification Theory
USES AND GRATIFICATION THEORY
Uses and gratification theory is a theories that concentrate on what people do with the media and
what media does for the people. Uses and gratification theory is different from others theories that it
suppose that because individuals have the right to use the media, not passive consumers who
position themselves as media. Uses and gratification theory to explore how individuals purposely
look for media to meet specific needs, such as entertainment, relaxation or socialization or goal.
Several researchers have classified the type of uses and gratifications into a fourfold category
system such as cognition, diversion, social utility, affiliation, withdrawal, and expression.
COGNITION
Cognition means a process of learning. Individuals will uses a cognitive way to obtain
information about something by using a mass medium. People watch news to get what had

The Glorious Revolution in England of 1688
The Glorious Revolution in England of 1688 James II succession to the throne of England came

In January of 1649, Charles I, King of England, went on trial and was convicted as a Tyrant,
Traitor, Murderer, and public enemy to the good people of this nation. (Cannon, pg. 385) On 7
February 1649, Charles II was proclaimed King of Great Britain. While Charles II was in office, he

Hence, the Glorious Revolution earned the name the Bloodless Revolution. This was the first
revolution where a king was dismounted without any bloodshed (Israel, pg. 432 40). As the
Glorious Revolution ended, England was forced into an immediate conflict with Louis XIV of
France. James II, a Catholic king, had been disposed of, and a Protestant king, William, husband
of Mary, James s daughter, had taken over. Louis and James were able to get along but William
and Louis were not. They began a war over what is now present day Belgium. Belgium was a key
place for fortresses and harbors (Kissinger, pg.71). Though the revolution itself may have been
bloodless, it caused much unrest in England. Old stresses between the King and Parliament,
Church and Dissent, appeared to be undiminished and were joined by bitter divisions over the
succession of William III and Mary II. This involved rebellion and war in Ireland and Scotland,
and plots, riots, and insurrection in England (Hoppit, pg. 2). It is very doubtful whether many of
the revolutionaries of 1688 foresaw the consequences of their actions in terms of England s
relations with foreign powers. Before the revolution, England was largely pro French and anti
Dutch. After 1688, France was to become more or less a permanent enemy. The Nine Years War

Louis Braille is the Man Who Revolutionized the Blind World
Louis Braille: The Man Who Revolutionized the Blind World
Braille is knowledge, and knowledge is power. Louis Braille Knowledge is what makes humans,
well, human. We seek out knowledge like a flower reaches for the sunlight, or like an animals
searches for shelter from rain. It is in our nature to constantly want more knowledge. We drink it up
like water. For the entirety of human existence, however, there were those whose thirsty brains
were denied the drink of knowledge. These people were the poor, the enslaved, the unworthy , and
the handicapped. Louis Braille challenged this status quo when he invented Braille, a brilliant
system of dots that enabled blind people to read and write. Although he faced many challenges
in his life, Louis Braille revolutionized the way blind people learn and participate in society with
his invention. Louis Braille was born to Simon Rene and Monique Braille on January 4, 1809 in a
small French village 25 miles east of Paris called Coupvray. His father was a harness maker and
when Louis was three, he injured his eye while trying to cut a piece of leather with one of his
father s tools. His right eye became infected and it quickly spread to his other eye. By the time he
was five Louis was completely blind.
Despite Louis disability, his father taught him the alphabet by guiding his son s hand over nails
formed into the shapes of letters. Once Louis mastered the alphabet, he learned to write. A religious

The society as a whole is losing the ability to interact with and understand the people we come in
contact with every day. Nations such as Japan and China used to be extremely interdependent
communities (Gilovich et al., 2012), meaning that their societies were connected and citizens
thought collectively rather than independently; however, while still more interdependent that the
United States, the emergence of new devices, including the new iPhones, is causing a cultural shift
in those societies as well. The more a society avoids interaction and continues to find comfort in
phones, the more independent we become; this is turn is leading to a very isolated and cruelly
individualistic society.

My Personal Goals And Goals Of A Good Teacher
Introduction During the past four weeks in Guadalajara, I have received well designed and
intense training from ITTO and as a result, I have learned an immense amount about how to
design lesson plans confidently, regardless of type of class (conversation, grammar, etc) and
regardless of availability of resources (textbooks or no textbooks, etc). While I believe that I
have always had a passion and aptitude for teaching, ITTO has given further tools in the form of
practical training and job search guidance. I have progressed well during this short but intense
period of training but I will continue to improve as I work as an English teacher in Latin
America going forward. What is a Good Teacher? In my opinion, a good teacher has the
following qualities: He teaches because he enjoys the process of improving the academic and
professional lives of students, instead of doing it strictly for the money. As a result, students
recognize and appreciate his passion for teaching and develop a trusting and respectful relationship
with the teacher He creates a nurturing environment that is warm, accessible, and caring. He
encourages students to show effort and to ask questions openly in class without fear of mockery
by peers He works hard to prepare the lesson materials and he is adaptive to unpredictable
circumstances, such as when students arrive late to class, the course has to be taught without a pre
existing textbook, or when the lesson takes longer than he anticipated and he

HARLEY DAVIDSON, INC. (1998): THE 95TH ANNIVERSARY
Introduction Situation Analysis
Harley Davidson has been a widely admired fixture in the motorcycle industry since the golden
years of American motorcycle manufacturing (1900 1931), when at times there were as many as
200 different brands of American made motorcycles. By 1930, the market had consolidation and the
big three Harley Davidson, Indian Motorcycle, and Excelsior Supply together accounted for 90%
of the market (Ballon, 1997, p. 43). The Great Depression nearly destroyed the industry wiping out
all of the smaller manufacturers, forcing Excelsior out of business in 1931, and leaving Indian
severely weakened until it too, ceased operations in 1953 (Ballon, 1997). ... Show more content on

Moreover, the emergence of these competitors is ironically at least partially the result of the fact
that Harley s production did not meet market demand. While new production capacity and facilities
will certainly go a long way towards meeting short term demand for touring and custom motorcycles
in the domestic market, all indications are that there will be continued strong demand in the home
market as well as growing demand in the larger European market. Looking towards the future,
Harley Davidson management must decide how to best match the company s vision and resources
(which now include Eaglemark Financing and Buell performance motorcycles) with the
opportunities and threats in the global motorcycle market.
Problem Analysis The following analysis looks first at Harley Davidson s external environment
(including competition) and secondly at the company s internal resources, strengths and
weaknesses in an effort to identify Harley s strategic options for addressing the current problem.
External Environmental Analysis It is beyond the scope of this case analysis to provide separate

division), motorcycle parts and accessories and licensing related products (e.g., Harley Davidson

Cyber Medi The Virtual War
Cyber bulling: The Virtual War
Bullying is a term that most of us recognize. We have either experienced it first hand or been a
witness to it. Due to the precedent of today s technology and the high speed Internet, bullying has
evolved into a virtual war zone and the casualties, unfortunately are our youths. As stated by Cross,
Dooley, and Pyzalski (2009) cyber bullying by definition is an aggressive, intentional act carried
out by a group or individual, using electronic forms of contact, repeatedly and over time against a
victim who cannot easily defend him or herself. Cyber bullying is most prominent among today s
teenagers and youth. The motivation for this type of harm is stemmed from different agents and
can be driven by economic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most often the bully lacks affection within their household or has been victim to some mode of
bullying which impels them to bully others. A families dynamic plays a key role in how a child
preserves themself and the people around them. If the parents exhibit violent and aggressive
behavior then the children tend to display the same traits. Research consistently finds that families
of bullies are lacking in warmth and closeness and are focused on power and dominance. Research
also indicates that bullies are likely to grow up without a father figure and that they are often
victims of physical and emotional abuse. (Duncan, 2009)
Another component that can spark cyber bullying is jealousy or envy. When an individual has
something he or she desires, a sense of envy or jealousy can arise. It can be envy of materialistic
items such as clothes, cars, money, or even jealously of social standing or relationships. Often times
this envy is the root of cyber bullying. What may begin as normal venting of frustrations can lead to
rumors and threats? Constantly individuals compare themselves them to their so called
competition. They feel that if they bring others down by means of bullying then they can improve
their own self esteem or self worth.
A third component that can induce bullying is a person who is different from them. They can be
different in several mannerisms such as cultural, physical and socio economic differences or even

The Apology By Bernard Of Clairvaux
Luxury played an immense role in medieval Catholicism by taking the focus from God and
placing it on the acquisition of riches and glory, which is shown by these sources: The Apology by
Bernard of Clairvaux, The Book of Suger by The Abbot Suger and Guilty Pleasures: Luxury in the
Middle Ages. These sources demonstrate the exorbitant manner that the churches and monasteries
were being built in during that time. This not only drew attention away from the real reason for
these buildings, but also was a form of idolatry for these monks, despite the honest intentions of
some of them, including the Abbot Suger. Each source lends different insight into the corruption of

In short, so many and so marvelous are the various shapes surrounding us that it is more pleasant
to read the marble tanthe books, and to spend the whole day marveling over these things rather
than meditating on the law of God 1 Bernard realized that despite their best efforts, the monks of
Cluny could not help but be distracted from God by the riches. Therefore, he tries to bring this to
attention in his writing. Another criticism that Bernard brings up in his writing is the integration
of the Cluniac monks into society. He mentions that the Cluniac monks are using luxury for the
acquisition of more riches, as well as for the attraction of more wealthy benefactors. He asks the
Cluniac monks what they are expecting to receive for their efforts, Admiration from the foolish?
Offering from the ignorant? Or scattered as we are among the gentiles, are we learning their tricks
and serving their idols? 1 Bernard brings up a good point, which is that the Cluniac monks are
becoming too worldly. They are becoming too focused on the contributions that they will receive
from the world, in order to decorate their churches and monasteries. They are forgetting that they
became monks to leave the world behind. The Abbot of Suger has a very contradictory view
towards the luxury, which he expounds upon in The Book of Suger. He states the reasoning for the
beginning of the luxury that was lavished upon the buildings. In the twenty third year of

Just the earthquake itself wasn t the only thing doing damage, the quake caused monstrous
tsunamis across the coast of Chile and it even caused tsunamis in Hawaii, Japan, and the
Philippines. For an earthquake to not only cause mass destruction to the area of the quake, but to
strongly affect other places, just goes to show how powerful The Great Chilean Earthquake was.
Not only has Chile have to deal with this great earthquake, Chile has been hit with almost 30 8.0
earthquake throughout time that we know of. Chile also has 2 of the top 10 biggest earthquakes
ever recorded. The Great Chilean Earthquake and the the amount of big earthquakes Chile has to
deal with, definitely affects how the Chilean people live everyday, they have to live in fear that the
next Big One could devastate their country again.

Dr.Roylott antagonizes Helen throughout the duration of the passage. Sherlock; after hearing what
Helen has to say, thinks there is something terribly wrong happening. Sherlock made Helen s case
of the utmost importance, he told her that he accompanied by Dr.Watson would be at her the
Roylott estate the same afternoon as well as mid night. After Helen left Sherlock Holmes with Dr.
Watson discussed the case they had upon them, when the door suddenly busted open, it was Dr.
Roylott. He had tracked Helen straight to Sherlock and Watson. Roylott told them to stay away
from his family affairs. Sherlock read the deceased mother s will, it read that each daughter
would receive two hundred fifty pounds upon marriage. This would leave little money left for
Dr. Grimesby Roylott. Dr. Watson and Holmes were both very curious, however Helen was

estate, Hellen stated that there there was a baboon as well as a cheetah on the premises, they

Analysis Of One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
Film Analysis Paper: One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest
Summery I The Story takes place in a state mental hospital in Oregon, 1963. 38 year old Randel
Patrick Mc Murphy Mac played by Jack Nicholson is being transferred from a prison work farm to
the hospital for mental evaluation. Mac is trying to avoid the work required by his sentence of
statutory rape of a 15 year old girl by claiming (he is a marvel of modern science) insanity. The
hospital is overseen by Nurse Ratched, who according to Mac does not play fair . She has a
dominating personality with a passive aggressive way of handling the patients. Her humiliation
of the patients combined with her senseless control bring her and Mac to a test of wills that
challenges each other throughout the movie. Mac makes friends with the other patients and
soon he is looked up to and seen as the leader of the group and a father figure. His group is made
up of some very strong well developed characters like Cheswick, childlike tantrum thrower, Mr
Harding (Hard on), an intellectual man struggling with his own sexuality, Billy, a stuttering very
insecure young man, Martini, always smiling and very simple minded, and Chief, an enormous
Indian who everyone is fooling everyone into thinking he is deaf and dumb when in actuality he is
normal. Throughout the film Mac and Ratched bump heads while trying to achieve the goal of
making everyone think he is insane. By trying to prove this he refuses to sit there like a vegetable ,

Walt Disney World Comparative Essay
Comparative Essay I m a big fan of the Walt Disney Company and its many theme parks. In this
essay I plan to compare some differences in Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in
California. As I just stated the first comparison involves the locations of the parks and their size.
Walt Disney World is located in Orlando, Florida and opened its door in 1971 and covers about 43
square miles (Dayao, 2014) (WDW Currently is undergoing some major expansions) WDW is
massive and it houses 4 Theme Parks (Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Disney s
Hollywood Studios) (Dayao,2014), 2 Water Parks (Blizzard Beach and Typhon Lagoon), and lastly
the shopping district known as Disney Springs. WDW s famous icon is the Cinderella Castle

Legal, Safety, and Regulatory Requirements Paper
The workplace is a delicate environment filled with different personalities types. These differing
needs of feeling safe and comfortable create many challenges in the workplace. The creation of the
Human Resource Department has helped create a safety net for all employees to fall under and
create a stable environment for employees to feel safe and secure. Regulations such as Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission and the Department of Labor have in some ways removed
the common sense and compassion in the workplace and replaced it with litigation. The effect of
these regulations have balanced the workplace and created a more ... Show more content on

The United States Department of Labor (DOL) has a mission to protect the welfare of wage
earners, job seekers, and retirees. They also improve working conditions and ensure work related
benefits and rights. The DOL has many laws and reregulation s protecting workers that range from
the Fair Labor Standards Act, which sets standards for wages and overtime pay, to the Occupational
Safety and Health Act, which focuses on workplace safety and health. With the wide range that
the DOL has employees can feel that they have standards in place to ensure fair pay, fair
treatment, and a safe environment to work in. Without the enforcement of the DOL corporations
are left to establish pay and safety standards internally. In a business atmosphere where the
importance of profit is often placed before the employees, an environment without laws and
regulations can be dangerous. An example can be seen in other countries where labor laws are not
in place compassion and common sense also seem to be absent. In these areas workers, many times
children often works long hours for little pay. Sadly it has been shown that when corporations are
unregulated the importance for the fair treatment of employees takes a less important role. The faith
in corporate America has been somewhat fragile with the knowledge of many corporate
wrongdoings like the Enron scandal, recent financial buyout, and the ethical issues with bonuses for
executives. Dipankar (2008) has a theory that

  • 2. Color Polka Dots Another installation is called I m Here, But Nothing (Kusama, 2008). The viewer would enter a dark room which was set up as a normal kitchen, or living room. However, the room is drowned in black light. Covered the surface of the walls as well as furniture were multiple color polka dots with fluorescent glow in the dark paint. The author once again made used of the distinct colorwhile manipulating lights, to create infinite pattern on a smooth color surface. The dots can be observed as floating in the air, while defying the space within the room and still defining it. Kusama illuminated the room only with ultraviolet fluorescent light; thus, the stickers appeared without any sense of depth, which then is stuck in the viewer s eyes to create ... • 3. Estragon In Waiting For Godot The relationship between Vladimir and Estragon in Waiting for Godot. Why do they stay together, despite frequent suggestions that they part? The dramatist and poet Samuel Beckett, born in 1906 in Ireland, can definitely be addressed as one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century. Samuel Beckett has been attributed the label of the last modernist as well as the first post modernist. His plays are filled with dark humour and absurdities, Beckett s play Waiting for Godot 1, which he composed between 1948 1949, is a good example of his minimalistic style and stage setting. Godot is one of Beckett s most controversial plays and well known in the international literary world. The play received much criticism in conjunction with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The games are a welcome distraction from the uncertainty of waiting, Vladimir and Estragon both feel relieved when they find a game to play. Didi and Gogo seem relatively happy and content playing their games to occupy them during the long wait. Svalkvist argued in her essay; Vladimir and Estragon create a foundation of values, a self, by choosing their actions and beliefs, i.e. choosing to continue to wait for Godot and to play games with each other. • 4. Captivity Of North America And Continued As A Significant... Captivity narratives began with the settlement of North America and continued as a significant genre in American literature until the end of the nineteenth century. The first captivity narratives are believed to have been created by Native Americans who were captured by early Spanish explorers. However, the genre commonly refers to the accounts written by European settlers who were abducted by Native Americans. European settlers were fleeing to the new land in order to escape religious persecutions, in order for that to happen, they had to take the land from the Native Americans which later progressed to kidnapping and captivity of some early settlers. Both authors clearly establish a sudden attack in the beginning of the narratives. Later during their time in captivity, both authors make it clear that they are forced to change locations due to a forced march by the Indians that took them captive. Examples of sale or trade are evident in each narrative. One key example is when Mary Rowlandson states she was sold to King Philip s wife s sister by a Narragansett Indian in her narrative The Sovereignty and Goodness of God .(132) Finally these two narratives are completely different in the last key point in the captivity narrative outline , the ransom or escape. Cultural views of individuals influence their perceptions and decisions of healthattitudes and health cares; in order to care for people across different languages and cultures, nurses need to develop cultural sensitivity, awareness, competence, and humility (Creasia Parker, 2007). One of the creatures most similar to modern man is the Neanderthals; they are sometimes referred to as early modern humans. An article entitled Early man steered clear of Neanderthal romance by Michael Hopkin, explains that there was a discovery that early human ancestors of modern man did not breed with their cousins, the Neanderthals, according to DNA that has been studied. There were 24 Neanderthal remains and 40 early modern human remains that were studied. The bimolecular preservation of DNA of five early humans and four Neanderthals was helpful enough for the preservation. All four Neanderthals yielded the mtDNA sequences similar to those previously determined from Neanderthal individuals, whereas none of the five early modern humans contained such mtDNA sequences. In combination with current mtDNA data, this excludes any large genetic contribution by Neanderthals to early modern humans, but does not rule out the possibility of a smaller contribution (Serre, 16 March 2004). Therefore, early modern humans and Neanderthals could have been around and breeding at the same time, it is just a small chance. Between 30,000 and 40,000 years ago, Neanderthals were gone from Europe (where these fossils were found). Right around that time, the early modern humans were beginning to migrate to parts of Europe. This brings up the point that it could be possible that Neanderthals and early modern humans came eye to eye, but no one knows what the reactions and attitudes were like if that were true. This is a question of the history of life, did they exist simultaneously, and did they interact? • 15. Questions On The Doctrine Of Discovery Essay Thomas Berumen AIS 304 Professor Harjo October 18, 2016 AIS 304 Midterm 1. The Doctrine of Discovery was a concept used to further colonization and strip land from the indigenous people. According to Class 7 Lecture, it allowed colonial powers to colonize the land that they discovered even if indigenous people already lived there. The doctrine provides title to the nation making the discovery of the land even if the soil is inhabited by natives. Provided the land excluded European sovereign . When European powers establish rule in what is now the United States the government was given the ownership of the lands until they felt the need use of the land. The Indians currently residing in the lands were just inhabitants. The doctrine set for by Chief Justice Marshall was set forth to mimic colonial powers and prevent further European expansion on U.S. soils. Following the Johnson v McIntosh case, it established a preventive measure of Indians and Indian tribes from selling the land to anyone but the United States government. This was to prevent European colonies to develop in the United States. The doctrine was important for the development and expansion of colonial powers, but the implementation was a negative effect by forcefully taking lands from the indigenous. It disowned the culture and lifestyles of millions. Rationally it is a shame that the government chose to deny aboriginal title owners as they should have been allowed to keep their land. In Biblical times this was a gesture showing high religious status. This is significant because Melchizedek s name means king of righteousness. The next time Melchizedek is mentioned in the Bible is in one of David s writings in Psalms. It is obvious in Psalm 110 that David held a strong respect for Melchizedek. He is portrayed as a Christ figure due to his extreme righteousness. In the book of Matthew, Melchizedek s priesthood is even put in a category of its own. Swing music and all type of music will always be around because they will always give new ideas and relatable feeling regardless of the era. Music made an impact to history during the segregation time, and it has the world itself to not judge people based on look but on emotions and how people can relate to one another. Especially during the Depression, everybody, color and white, were all suffering the financial burden and was able to relate to each other because in the end everyone is in the same boat. Swing music brought people together and new technique into the music world. With these specialized concept, new ones are developed daily and is shared with one another. Like all music, it brings people together, and that s is the beauty of it. Music does not have to exact and perfect; it is to expressed feelings when words itself cannot describe it. Swing music was a positive bright light during a dark time and keeping people spirit up. Listening to one of Benny Goodman s arrangement, Sing, sing, sing , it gave an insight of that upbeat tone right in the beginning. Something about the melody makes the audiences want to jump on their feet and move along with it. Goodman s clarinet solo is very powerful and cannot go unnoticed. The instruments are played very vibrantly and makes the idea of wanting to live life to the fullest. I imagine the crowd, the musicians, dancers all wanting to move or have that urge to let their body move as if there s an itch somewhere. Yoga And The Yoga Community Yoga, being one of the most effective self help approaches to life and living, invites me to help ensure that it is being integrated with maximum wisdom related to breathing. This page is about supporting and educating the Yoga community in its quest for superior knowledge and effectiveness about proper breathing. It is our responsibility to alert everyone about this as there are probably millions of students and teachers with an unclear or distorted idea of healthy breathing. Nowadays, you can take weekend courses and call yourself a teacher. Many teachers are then first to defend their breathing development proficiency but alas, last to prove it. One needs to experience good breathing to teach it. From a Breathing Times subscriber: Breath is the unifying principal of the three systems mechanics, metabolism and mentality. It is the psychopharmacological link between conscious and unconscious states. Each of the three mechanical aspects of breath has specific neurotransmission function. Any technique(s) that emphasize(s) one aspect of the mechanism exclusively will shift neurometabolism accordingly. Yoga practices are designed for this purpose, stimulating a specific aspect or relationship of aspects. I realize that contemporary yogis don t always explain it this way,and I think that also leads to misuse and abuse. Right knowledge is yoga or union. People may argue whether or not social media has had a negative or positive effect on journalism. While social media gets the conversation going between people about major events, opinions can cause inaccuracy in stories. The time it takes for news to enter the market has shrunk significantly since social media has become increasingly popular. Citizen Journalismhas also impacted the news industry. What used to audience has become a team of constant media journalists and content producers. Both of these changes have had both positive and negative impact on the industry. In the past, the news organizations, such as the New York Times, were able to have a large impact on society, acting as a gatekeeper for news being disseminated to their readers. They could chose to hold onto stories for extended periods of time being confident that there was no other outlet that had credibility to release the information. Daniel Ellsberg s brought his story on the Pentagram Papers to the Times at which point they waited twenty two months to publish the finding after significant internal debate.1 Today, this would simply never happen. This was the first revolution where a king was dismounted without any bloodshed (Israel, pg. 432 40). As the Glorious Revolution ended, England was forced into an immediate conflict with Louis XIV of France. James II, a Catholic king, had been disposed of, and a Protestant king, William, husband of Mary, James s daughter, had taken over. Louis and James were able to get along but William and Louis were not. They began a war over what is now present day Belgium. Belgium was a key place for fortresses and harbors (Kissinger, pg.71). Though the revolution itself may have been bloodless, it caused much unrest in England. Old stresses between the King and Parliament, Church and Dissent, appeared to be undiminished and were joined by bitter divisions over the succession of William III and Mary II. This involved rebellion and war in Ireland and Scotland, and plots, riots, and insurrection in England (Hoppit, pg. 2). It is very doubtful whether many of the revolutionaries of 1688 foresaw the consequences of their actions in terms of England s relations with foreign powers. Louis Braille Knowledge is what makes humans, well, human. We seek out knowledge like a flower reaches for the sunlight, or like an animals searches for shelter from rain. It is in our nature to constantly want more knowledge. We drink it up like water. For the entirety of human existence, however, there were those whose thirsty brains were denied the drink of knowledge. These people were the poor, the enslaved, the unworthy , and the handicapped. Louis Braille challenged this status quo when he invented Braille, a brilliant system of dots that enabled blind people to read and write. Although he faced many challenges in his life, Louis Braille revolutionized the way blind people learn and participate in society with his invention. Louis Braille was born to Simon Rene and Monique Braille on January 4, 1809 in a small French village 25 miles east of Paris called Coupvray. His father was a harness maker and when Louis was three, he injured his eye while trying to cut a piece of leather with one of his father s tools. His right eye became infected and it quickly spread to his other eye. By the time he was five Louis was completely blind. Despite Louis disability, his father taught him the alphabet by guiding his son s hand over nails formed into the shapes of letters. Once Louis mastered the alphabet, he learned to write. While I believe that I have always had a passion and aptitude for teaching, ITTO has given further tools in the form of practical training and job search guidance. I have progressed well during this short but intense period of training but I will continue to improve as I work as an English teacher in Latin America going forward. What is a Good Teacher? In my opinion, a good teacher has the following qualities: He teaches because he enjoys the process of improving the academic and professional lives of students, instead of doing it strictly for the money. As a result, students recognize and appreciate his passion for teaching and develop a trusting and respectful relationship with the teacher He creates a nurturing environment that is warm, accessible, and caring. He encourages students to show effort and to ask questions openly in class without fear of mockery by peers He works hard to prepare the lesson materials and he is adaptive to unpredictable circumstances, such as when students arrive late to class, the course has to be taught without a pre existing textbook, or when the lesson takes longer than he anticipated and he ... By 1930, the market had consolidation and the big three Harley Davidson, Indian Motorcycle, and Excelsior Supply together accounted for 90% of the market (Ballon, 1997, p. 43). Therefore, he tries to bring this to attention in his writing. Another criticism that Bernard brings up in his writing is the integration of the Cluniac monks into society. He mentions that the Cluniac monks are using luxury for the acquisition of more riches, as well as for the attraction of more wealthy benefactors. He asks the Cluniac monks what they are expecting to receive for their efforts, Admiration from the foolish? Offering from the ignorant?
