1 A ovo su riječi knjige koju je Baruh, sin Nerije,
sina Masijina, sina Sedecije, sina Asadija, sina
Kelkijina, napisao u Babilonu,
2 Pete godine i sedmog dana u mjesecu, kada su
Kaldejci zauzeli Jerusalim i spalili ga ognjem.

pripremite manu i prinesete na žrtveniku Gospoda
Boga našega;
11 I molite se za život Nabuhodonosora, kralja
Babilona, i za život Baltasara njegovog sina, da
njihovi dani budu na zemlji kao dani na nebu:
12 I Gospod će nam dati snagu i obasjati naše oči, i
mi ćemo živeti pod senkom Nabuhodonosora, kralja
Babilona, i pod senkom Baltazara, njegovog sina, i
služićemo im mnogo dana i naći milost u njihovim
očima .
13 Molite se i za nas Gospodu Bogu našemu, jer
smo sagriješili Gospodu Bogu našemu; i do danas
se gnjev Gospodnji i njegov gnjev ne odvrati od nas.
14 I čitat ćete ovu knjigu koju smo vam poslali, da
se ispovjedite u domu Gospodnjem, na praznike i
svečane dane.
15 I reći ćete: Gospodu Bogu našemu pripada
pravednost, a nama pometnja lica, kao što se danas
dogodi, kod Judinih i stanovnika Jeruzalema,
16 I našim kraljevima, i našim knezovima, i našim
svećenicima, i našim prorocima, i našim ocima:
17 Jer smo sagriješili pred Gospodom,
18 I ne poslušaše ga, i ne poslušaše glas Gospoda
Boga našega, da hodimo po zapovestima koje nam
je on otvoreno dao:
19 Od dana kada je Gospod izveo naše pretke iz
zemlje egipatske, pa do današnjeg dana, bili smo
neposlušni Gospodu Bogu našem, i bili smo
nemarni što nismo slušali njegov glas.
20 Zbog toga su se zla prilijepila za nas, i
prokletstvo, koje je Gospod odredio preko Mojsija,
svog sluge u vrijeme kada je izveo naše očeve iz
zemlje egipatske, da nam da zemlju u kojoj teče
mlijeko i med, kao što je je vidjeti ovaj dan.
21 Ali mi nismo poslušali glas Gospoda Boga
našega, po svim riječima proroka koje nam je

POGLAVLJE 2
1 Zato je Gospod izvršio svoju riječ koju je izrekao
protiv nas i naših sudaca koji su sudili Izraelu, i
protiv naših kraljeva, i protiv naših knezova, i protiv
ljudi Izraela i Jude,
2 Da dovede na nas velike pošasti, kakve se nikada
nisu dogodile pod cijelim nebom, kao što se
dogodilo u Jerusalimu, prema stvarima koje su
napisane u Mojsijevu zakonu;
3 Da čovjek jede meso svoga sina i meso svoje
kćeri.
4 Štaviše, dao ih je da budu podložni svim
kraljevstvima koja su oko nas, da budu na sramotu i
pustoš među svim narodima okolo, gdje ih je
Gospod raspršio.
5 Tako smo bili oboreni, a ne uzvišeni, jer smo
sagriješili Gospodu, Bogu našem, i nismo bili
poslušni njegovom glasu.
6 Gospodu, Bogu našemu, pripada pravednost, a
nama i našim ocima otvorena sramota, kao što se
javlja danas.
7 Jer sve ove pošasti stigle su na nas, koje je
Gospod objavio na nas
8 Ipak, nismo li se molili pred Gospodom, da
svakoga odvratimo od uobrazilja njegovog zlog srca.
9 Zato je Gospod bdio nad nama zbog zla, i Gospod
ga je doveo na nas, jer je Gospod pravedan u svim
djelima svojim koja nam je zapovjedio.
3. 10 Ipak, nismo poslušali njegov glas, da hodimo po
zapovijestima Gospodnjim, koje je postavio pred
nas.
11 I sada, Gospode Bože Izraelov, koji si izveo svoj
narod iz zemlje egipatske moćnom rukom i visokom
rukom, i znakovima, i čudima, i velikom moći, i
stekao si ime, kako izgleda ovog dana:
12 O Gospode Bože naš, sagriješili smo, učinili smo
bezbožno, postupili smo nepravedno u svim tvojim
uredbama.
13 Neka se tvoj gnjev odvrati od nas, jer smo
malobrojni među poganima gdje si nas rastjerao.
14 Usliši, Gospode, molitve naše i molbe naše, i
izbavi nas radi sebe, i daj nam milost u očima onih
koji su nas odveli.
15 Da sva zemlja zna da si ti Gospod Bog naš, jer se
Izrael i njegovo potomstvo zove tvojim imenom.
16 Gospode, pogledaj dole iz svoje svete kuće i
razmotri nas: prigni uho svoje, Gospode, da nas
čuješ.
17 Otvori oči svoje i gle; jer mrtvi koji su u
grobovima, čije su duše uzete iz tijela, neće dati
Gospodu ni hvale ni pravednosti.
18 Ali duša koja je jako uznemirena, koja ide
pognuta i nejaka, i oči koje iznemognu, i gladna
duša, daće ti hvalu i pravdu, Gospode.
19 Zato se ne molimo pred tobom, Gospode Bože
naš, za pravednost otaca naših i kraljeva naših.
20 Jer si poslao svoj gnjev i gnjev na nas, kao što si
rekao preko svojih slugu, proroka, govoreći:
21 Ovako govori Gospod: Pognite ramena da služite
kralju Babilonskom; tako ćete ostati u zemlji koju
sam dao vašim ocima.
22 Ali ako ne čujete glas Gospodnji da služite kralju
babilonskom,
23 Prekinut ću iz Judinih gradova i izvan
Jeruzalema, glas veselja i glas radosti, glas
mladoženja i glas nevjeste, i cijela će zemlja biti
pusta od stanovnika.
24 Ali mi nismo htjeli poslušati tvoj glas da služimo
kralju babilonskom: zato si ispravio riječi koje si
izgovorio preko svojih slugu proroka, naime, da
kosti naših kraljeva i kosti naših otaca budu biti
skinute sa svog mesta.
25 I gle, oni su izbačeni na vrelinu dana i na mraz
noći, i umrli su u velikim bijedama od gladi, mača i
kuge.

ću ih raspršiti.
30 Jer sam znao da me neće čuti, jer je to narod
tvrdovrat; ali u zemlji svog ropstva oni će se sjetiti
sebe.
31 I znat će da sam ja Gospod Bog njihov, jer ću im
dati srce i uši da slušaju.
32 I oni će me hvaliti u zemlji svog sužanjstva i
mislit će na moje ime,
33 I vratite se od ukočenih vrata njihova i od zlih
djela njihovih, jer će se sjetiti puta svojih otaca, koji
su sagriješili pred Gospodom.
34 I vratit ću ih u zemlju koju sam obećao
zakletvom njihovim ocima, Abrahamu, Izaku i
Jakovu, i oni će biti gospodari njome; i povećat ću
ih, i neće se smanjiti.
35 I sklopit ću vječni savez s njima da ću im biti
Bog, i oni će biti moj narod; i više neću istjerati svoj
narod Izraela iz zemlje koju sam im dao.
POGLAVLJE 3
1 O Gospode Svemogući, Bože Izraelov, duša u
tjeskobi uznemireni duh, vapi k tebi.
2 Čuj, Gospode, i smiluj se; jer si milostiv, i smiluj
se na nas, jer smo sagriješili pred tobom.
3 Jer ti ostaješ dovijeka, a mi propadamo do kraja.
4 O Gospode Svemogući, ti Bože Izraelov, usliši
sada molitve mrtvih Izraelaca i njihove djece, koji
su sagriješili pred tobom, a nisu poslušali glas tebe,
Boga svoga, jer zbog čega se ove pošasti priliježu
na nas .
5 Ne sjećaj se bezakonja naših predaka, nego misli
na svoju moć i svoje ime sada u ovo vrijeme.
6 Jer ti si Gospod Bog naš, i tebe ćemo, Gospode,
slaviti.
7 I zbog toga si stavio svoj strah u naša srca, s
namjerom da zazovemo tvoje ime i da te hvalimo u
našem sužanjstvu: jer smo se sjetili svih bezakonja
naših predaka, koji su sagriješili prije tebe.
8 Evo, mi smo još danas u ropstvu svome, kamo si
nas raspršio, na sramotu i prokletstvo, i da budemo
podvrgnuti plaćanju, prema svim bezakonjima naših
otaca, koji su otišli od Gospoda Boga našega.
4. 9 Čuj, Izraele, zapovijedi života: poslušaj mudrost
da razumiješ.
10 Kako se dogodi Izraelu, da si u zemlji
neprijatelja svojih, da si ostario u tuđoj zemlji, da si
oskvrnjen s mrtvima,
11 Da si pribrojan onima koji silaze u grob?
12 Napustio si izvor mudrosti.
13 Jer da si išao putem Božjim, trebao bi prebivati u
miru zauvijek.
14 Nauči gdje je mudrost, gdje je snaga, gdje je
razum; da znaš i gde je dužina dana i život, gde je
svetlost očiju i mir.
15 Ko je otkrio njeno mjesto? ili ko je došao u njeno
blago?
16 Gdje su postali knezovi neznabožaca i oni koji su
vladali zvijerima na zemlji;
17 Oni koji su se zabavljali sa pticama nebeskim, i
oni koji su gomilali srebro i zlato, u koje se ljudi
pouzdaju, i nisu završili njihovo dobivanje?
18 Jer oni koji su obrađivali srebro i bili tako
oprezni, i čija su djela neistraživa,
19 Oni su nestali i sišli u grob, a drugi su se pojavili
umjesto njih.
20 Mladići su vidjeli svjetlost i nastanili se na
zemlji, ali put znanja nisu poznavali,
21 Niti su razumjeli puteve njegove, niti ga uhvatili:
njihova su djeca bila daleko od tog puta.
22 Za to se nije čulo u Chanaanu, niti je viđeno u
Themanu.
23 Agarenci koji traže mudrost na zemlji, trgovci
Merana i Temana, pisci bajki i tragači iz razuma;
niko od njih nije poznavao put mudrosti, niti se
sećao njenih puteva.
24 O Izraele, kako je velik dom Božji! i kako je
veliko mjesto njegovog posjeda!
25 Velika i nema kraja; visoko i nemerljivo.
26 Postojali su divovi poznati od početka, koji su
bili tako velikog rasta i tako vešti u ratu.
27 One nije izabrao Gospod, niti im je dao put
znanja:
28 Ali oni su bili uništeni, jer nisu imali mudrosti, i
stradali su zbog vlastite gluposti.
29 Ko je uzašao na nebo, uzeo je i spustio je s
oblaka?
30 Tko je prešao preko mora i našao je, i hoće li je
donijeti za čisto zlato?
31 Nitko ne poznaje njen put, niti misli na njen put.
32 Ali onaj koji zna sve, poznaje nju i otkrio ju je
svojim razumom: onaj koji je pripremio zemlju
zauvijek, napunio ju je četveronožnim zvijerima.
33 Onaj koji šalje svjetlo, i ono ide, ponovo ga
poziva, i ono mu se pokorava sa strahom.
34 Zvijezde su zasjale na njihovim satovima i
radovale se; kad ih dozove, govore: Evo nas; i tako
su s radošću pokazivali svjetlo onome koji ih je
stvorio.
35 Ovo je naš Bog, i niko drugi se neće računati s
njim
36 On je otkrio sav put znanja i dao ga Jakovu,
svom sluzi, i Izraelu, svom miljeniku.
37 Poslije se on pojavio na zemlji i razgovarao s
ljudima.
POGLAVLJE 4
1 Ovo je knjiga zapovijedi Božjih i zakon koji traje
dovijeka: svi koji ga drže oživjet će; ali oni koji odu
umrijet će.
2 Okreni se, o Jakove, i uhvati se za to: hodaj pred
njegovom svjetlošću, da možeš biti obasjan.
3 Ne daj svoje časti drugome, niti ono što je tebi
korisno tuđem narodu.
4 O Izraele, sretni smo mi, jer nam se obznanjuje
ono što je ugodno Bogu.
5 Budite hrabri, narode moj, spomen Izraela.
6 Prodani ste narodima, ne radi uništenja, nego zato
što ste razgnjevili Boga, predani ste neprijateljima.
7 Jer ste razdražili onoga koji vas je stvorio
žrtvujući đavolima, a ne Bogu.
8 Zaboravili ste vječnog Boga, koji vas je odgojio; a
vi ste ožalošćeni Jerusalim koji vas je dojio.
9 Jer kad je vidjela gnjev Božji kako dolazi na vas,
rekla je: Čujte, vi koji živite na Sionu!
10 Jer sam vidio ropstvo svojih sinova i kćeri, koje
je vječni donio na njih.
11 S radošću sam ih hranio; ali ih otprati sa plačem i
tugom.
12 Neka se nitko ne raduje meni, udovici i mnogima
napuštenom, koji sam zbog grijeha djece moje ostao
pust; jer su odstupili od zakona Božijeg.
13 Nisu poznavali njegove odredbe, niti su išli
putevima njegovih zapovijesti, niti su kročili
stazama discipline u njegovoj pravednosti.
14 Neka dođu oni koji žive oko Siona i sjetite se
ropstva mojih sinova i kćeri, koje im je Vječni
donio.
15 Jer on je izdaleka na njih doveo narod, bestidan
narod i stranog jezika, koji nije poštovao starca, niti
sažalio dijete.
16 Oni su odveli dragu ljubljenu djecu udovice i
ostavili nju koja je sama bila pusta bez kćeri.
17 Ali šta vam mogu pomoći?
18 Jer onaj koji je na vas nanio ove pošasti izbavit
će vas iz ruku vaših neprijatelja.
5. 19 Idite svojim putem, djeco moja, idite svojim
putem, jer sam ja opustošen.
20 Skinuo sam odjeću mira i obukao kostrijet svoje
molitve: vapiću u vječnost u dane svoje.
21 Budite hrabri, djeco moja, zavapite Gospodinu, i
on će vas izbaviti iz vlasti i ruke neprijatelja.
22 Jer moja je nada u vječnost, da će vas on spasiti;
i radost mi dođe od Svetoga, zbog milosti koja će
vam uskoro doći od Vječnog Spasitelja našeg.
23 Jer sam vas poslao s tugom i plačem, ali će mi
vas Bog opet dati s radošću i veseljem dovijeka.
24 Kao što su sada susjedi Siona vidjeli tvoje
ropstvo: tako će uskoro vidjeti tvoje spasenje od
Boga našega koji će doći na tebe s velikom slavom i
sjajem vječnim.
25 Djeco moja, strpljivo trpite gnjev koji je došao
na vas od Boga, jer vas je vaš neprijatelj progonio;
ali uskoro ćeš vidjeti njegovu propast i zgazit ćeš
mu vrat.
26 Moji delikatni su krenuli teškim putevima, i
odvedeni su kao stado uhvaćeno od neprijatelja.
27 Utješite se, djeco moja, i zavapite Bogu, jer ćete
se sjetiti onoga koji je ovo donio na vas.
28 Jer kao što ste mislili da se udaljite od Boga,
tako ga, vrativši se, tražite deset puta više.
29 Jer onaj koji je na vas nanio ove pošasti donijet
će vam vječnu radost vašim spasenjem.
30 Budi dobro srce, Jerusaleme, jer će te utješiti
onaj koji ti je dao to ime.
31 Jadni su oni koji su te mučili i radovali se tvom
padu.
32 Jadni su gradovi kojima su služila tvoja djeca,
jadna je ona koja je primila tvoje sinove.
33 Jer kao što se radovala tvojoj propasti i radovala
se tvome padu, tako će biti tugovana zbog svoje
vlastite pustoši.
34 Jer ću oduzeti radost njenog velikog mnoštva, i
njen ponos će se pretvoriti u žalost.
35 Jer će oganj doći na nju od vječnosti, dugo će
trajati; i ona će biti naseljena đavolima dugo
vremena.
36 O Jerusaleme, pogledaj oko sebe prema istoku, i
vidi radost koja ti dolazi od Boga.
37 Evo, dolaze sinovi tvoji, koje si otpustio, dolaze
sabrani od istoka do zapada po riječi Svetoga,
radujući se u slavi Božjoj.
POGLAVLJE 5
1 Skini, o Jerusaleme, haljinu žalosti i nevolje, i
obuci se u lepotu slave koja dolazi od Boga zauvek.
2 Baci oko sebe dvostruku haljinu pravednosti koja
dolazi od Boga; i postavi dijademu na svoju glavu
slave vječne.
3 Jer će Bog pokazati tvoj sjaj svakoj zemlji pod
nebom.
4 Jer će se tvoje ime zvati od Boga dovijeka Mir
pravednosti i slava obožavanja Boga.
5 Ustani, o Jerusaleme, i stani na visinu, i pogledaj
uokolo prema istoku, i gle djece tvoje sabrane od
zapada do istoka po riječi Svetoga, radujući se
spomenu na Boga.
6 Jer oni su otišli od tebe pješice i bili odvedeni od
svojih neprijatelja, ali Bog ih dovodi k tebi uzvišene
slavom, kao djecu kraljevstva.
7 Jer Bog je odredio da se svako visoko brdo i obale
dugog trajanja sruše i doline napune, da se izravna
tlo, da Izrael može sigurno ići u slavu Božju,
8 Štaviše, čak i šume i svako drvo koje miriše
zasjenit će Izrael po zapovijesti Božjoj.
9 Jer će Bog voditi Izrael s radošću u svjetlosti
svoje slave s milošću i pravednošću koja dolazi od
njega.
