Alice Casey, Involve: Web 2.0 and You: Local Government Conferencecased
Public engagement and local government conference : empowering citizens to shape communities. A bit about what Web 2.0 offers to local government in the UK.
This is the second version of a teaching resource for Indigenous students (so far used with Education & Arts students). Of course, its not finished - probably will never be finished. I'll do an online version - perhaps in a wiki. But there are still many people who like to have a document to take home & work through. So this is the hard-copy version. Would love to hear feedback.
Brief introduction to digital revolution and digital Communications. Including where and how starting conversations in the new social landscape.
Used in IED Madrid in the Fashion Communication Course in may 2012 where I was invited as a guest speaker.
This brief POWER POINT presentation accompanies a lecture by Mr. Libka. The actual seminar on Strategic Planning is supported by a more complete slide show.
Creating Communities - PodCamp Toronto 2016Andy McIlwain
Communities are supportive networks of people that can be built around anything. You can tap into the power of community to meet new people, create relationships, collaborate on projects, raise awareness for a cause, improve your business, support your customers, and above all else, make a real impact on the lives of others.
Consider this session a fun kick-off into the world of community creation. We’ll start with some high-level theory, slowly descend into some examples of successful communities, and then gently touch down with practical resources for starting your own community initiatives.
Lessons about Community from Science Fiction - LinuxCon ChicagoDawn Foster
If you think you saw this presentation at LinuxCon last year, you're wrong! To avoid boring people to death, I have a completely new set of slides and lessons for 2014.
This talk focuses on community tips told through science fiction. While the topic is fun and a little silly, the lessons about communities are real and tangible. Here are just a few of the things that I will talk about:
* Borg assimilation and bringing new community members into your collective for new ideas.
* Specialization is for insects. The best community members are the ones who can help in a wide variety of ways.
* Community members are valuable, don’t treat them like minions.
* Travel to strange new worlds and meet interesting people.
