Broke Car
Four Ways To Get The Car Of Your Dreams Without Going Broke
If your heart skips a beat every time you see a certain make or model of car and the one you re
driving is on its last leg, it s time to go shopping! However, affording the car of your dreams can
be next to impossible on a tight budget. Here are five ways to put yourself into the vehicle you
really want, even though your finances force you to be frugal.
1. Find New Ways To Save More Money
The higher the down payment you apply to the price of a vehicle, the lower your monthly
payments will be, thus, if you can figure out ways to save more money and drop more cash at the
point of purchase, you can look for the car of your dreams, rather than whatever is on sale.
Evaluate your spending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why not ask a local dealer to look on your behalf? If they know you re serious, they will keep an
eye out for you, watching for your preferred model and specifications. While there will be fees
added to the auction price to cover the dealer s expenses, you re still going to end up with a good
deal.
4. Buy Basic And Pimp The Vehicle Later
Paying cash or financing your used vehicle will be cheaper if there are fewer bells and whistles
installed and might land you behind the wheel faster than if you have to look around for a well
equipped model. You could budget things like a stereo, window tint and mag wheels over the
course of the next year, rather than factoring those expenses into your monthly payment or up front
costs when paying cash. Customizing the car later could be a lot of fun and doing it on your terms
means considerable savings.
Finding the perfect car for yourself on terms you can live with isn t easy, but the more educated
and creative you are, the more doors you will open for yourself. Talk to a dealer, examine all your
options and make the necessary moves that will put you behind the wheel of something you really
love and can

Comparing Marionettes Inc. And Ex Machina
When it comes to using Artificial Intelligence, one should be able to recognize their limits in
doing so. In the story Marionettes Inc, and the movie, Ex Machina, both mediums displayed a
clear and concise message about Artificial Intelligence, that is, when you create or utilize an AI
robot with human like qualities, there is always a possibility that it may turn against their rightful
owner or creator, and will ultimately lead to their downfall. The extent to which an intelligent, well
constructed robot can think, behave, and act, has no limit. Once you give something a mind of its
own, you are incapable of controlling its actions and behaviours, leading to serious drawbacks of
creating a robot. In the movie, Nathan s persistent goal of

The Death Of A Man s Obedience
Obedience You have to make choices whether to follow the rules of not. To be obedient means to
comply with an order, request, or submission to another s authority. This authority has the power
to make an individual obey in ways that go against their personal and moral values. Because of
this the authority can make individuals commit terrible acts without question. An example of this
can be the abhorrent and inhumane acts carried out by German soldiers in WWII. All the German
troops orders were from one single individual, Adolf Hitler. Why is it that man is so prone to obey
and why is it hard for him to contravene? The reason for man s obedience is a mixture of social
influences, authorityfigures, and their own self conscience. A person s obedience can be derived
from social pressure and group minds. Most all people live their lives in groups such as with
family, work groups, school peers, political groups, etc. Also most people want to belong to a
group and can t stand being unaccompanied. We are group animals and tend to think as the group
thinks which makes it hard for an individual to maintain their own opinions. According to
Lessing, People who have experienced a lot of groups, who have observed their own behavior,
may agree that the hardest thing in the world is to stand out against one s group, a group of one s
peers. Many agree that among our most shameful memories is this, how often we said black was
white because other people were saying it (653). A person s

Reasons For Dropout Of School
There are a lot of reasons why one might dropout of School. Some people just don t feel motivated
anymore while others have external reasons, such as family issues. Whatever the reason, there is
an epidemic in the American school system. African Americans are dropping out at a higher rate
than any race. According to Cde.ca.Gov: Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high
schoolin the United States alone. That s a student every 26 seconds or 7,000 a day . According to
Mecurynews In Alameda county alone African Americans had a 67 percent graduation rate while
having a 20.1 percent dropout rate. In contrast whites and Asians in the same county had a 91

African Americans tend to have less resources and more economic hardships while in school.
When going to school it helps when you have access to tutors and highly qualified teachers. In an
article by Princeton university Research indicates that children from low SES households and
communities develop academic skills more slowly compared to children from higher SES groups
. Initial academic skills are correlated with the home environment, where low literacy
environments and chronic stress negatively affect a child s preacademic skills. If a student does
not get the necessary aid and support when going to school then they are probably going to drop
out because at that point it becomes an actual struggle for them to go to school everyday. Likewise,
according to the National Center for Education Statistics African Americans are more likely to
attend high poverty schools than Asian Americans and Caucasians. When students go to a school
that is extremely destitute, they are more prone to be exposed to the harsh reality of low budget
education. There is a higher chance that the technology is antediluvian and the materials being
taught are not the most recent information that the state test on. Therefore African Americans in
general are going to perform a lower level than other races and eventually bottom out because they
don t see the point in going to school anymore. In addition being poor plays a big role on whether

A Survey On Champaign County
Champaign County was first covered by the Illinois Glacier (191,000 130,000 years ago), which
leveled the region and covered it in a deposit of boulder clay. The county s topography was then
formed by the Wisconsin Glacier about 20,000 years ago. As lobes of ice from what is now
Lake Michigan crossed the county, a deep (up to 300 ft) pile of glacial soil was created and
topped by numerous moraines (any glacially formed accumulations of unconsolidated debris)
forming small, flat watersheds with no outlets. The moraines formed as the Wisconsin Glacier
advanced and receded many times over the Midwest. The Champaign moraine system now crosses
the county in a northwest southeast direction, and between the moraines ridges are broad plains of
what used to be swampy land, most of which has since been artificially drained.
Thousands of years ago, the territory consisted of wet, marshy land. The area currently known as
Champaign County was formerly occupied by the migratory Kickapoo Indians before an 1819 treaty
granted the land to the US government. European settlement of Champaign County was restricted
by the amount of land that required drainage. Since Champaign County is situated on a large and
very flat plateau, it had virtually no natural drainage until the 1870s when settlers began building
drainage ditches. The resulting upland marsh lead to a high incidence of malaria in the region in
the late nineteenth century. About one million acres (10%) of Illinoispre columbian

Ancient Mayan Society
How could societies from hundreds of years ago influence both the past and the present? When
historians and archaeologists look back on the thriving communities of the Maya, Aztecs, and Inca
their question is answered. These societies were introduced many products and ideas. The Mayan,
Aztecan, and Incan societies heavily influenced the past as well as the present. The Maya, Aztecs,
and Inca were tremendously influential in their prime and their legacy . Looking at the Maya, the
first accomplishment that they achieved was creating accurate calendars by studying stars and
astrology. This helped the society know the dates of important events like deaths or annual festivals.

Aspects Of The Assimilation Of Aboriginal Children
One conspicuous aspect of the assimilation policy was the forcible removal of Aboriginal children
from their families and communities. The Indigenous children were removed from their families, as
the White Australian government thought that Indigenous children were exposed to immoral
influences from their Aboriginal families and communities and were vulnerable from danger, abuse
and neglect. These children were taken to missions and reserves, where they spent their childhood
in foster care without contact with their family. When the Aboriginal Protection Board officially
adopted the policy in 1951, there was an increase in the removal of Aboriginal children from their

The Risk Factors of Osteoarthritis Essay
OA has a complex pathology, with numerous environmental and genetic risk factors. Generally,
OA is thought to be caused by a complex interaction between environmental and genetic factors
(Valdes et al., 2009). A variety of epidemiological studies have demonstrated that genetic
susceptibility is a key regulator of OA aetiology (Peach et al., 2005). Genetic variations may
influence several OA risk factors, including obesity, skeletal shape, bone mass and synovitis
(Valdes et al., 2011a). Furthermore, it has been shown that generalized OA phenotype, sensitivity
to pain and disease progression may be also determined by genetic susceptibility (Valdes et al.,
2010a; van Meurs et al., 2009; Kerkhof et al., 2010).
In the 1940s familial clustering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
OA is generally recognized as a complex multi factor disease that has mostly small and modest
effect susceptibility loci (Reynard et al., 2012). Over the past decade efforts have been focused on
the search for loci that predispose to OA. The following approaches most often have been attempts
to provide insight into the complexity of OA genetics: genetic linkage studies (LA), genome wide
association studies (GWAS) and candidate gene studies.
LA exploits the fact that genes have a tendency to be inherited together because they are located
close to each other. After identification of a linkage, all genes in the linked region need to be
identified and in this manner candidate genes of interest for a disease can be established. LA has
been successful in localizing chromosomal regions containing highly penetrant genetic variants.
However, in a common disease, such as OA, the success of LA is very limited for a number of
reasons, including the low power of identification of genes with modest effects and the large impact
of environmental influences (Risch et al., 1996).
After the completion of the Human Genome Sequencing project, which provided the opportunity to
systematically search across the genome and to test large numbers of common genetic variants for
association with disease, GWAS have been successfully applied to the study of many complex
diseases. GWAS make it possible to examine the associations of thousands of

Biodiversity And Its Impact On Biodiversity
Biodiversity is what makes the planet earth unique and different from every other planet in the
solar system. Biodiversity can be studied on a global level all the way down to studying it within
a microscopic ecosystem (National Wildlife Federation, 2015). It is important to understand that
biodiversity can be looked at genetically as well as environmentally as well. For example, genetic
biodiversityis seen in the variation of different breeds within the dog species, while environmental
biodiversity is the diversity of ecosystems and habitats (National Wildlife Federation, 2015).
Preserving biodiversity is perhaps the most important task that humans have to complete while
living on this planet. The ecosystems that make up all of the regions worldwide are immensely
complex, so conservation may be difficult at times. Additionally, many factors influence the species
that inhabit ecosystems, and these factors may complicate the preservation of biodiversity.
Moreover, there is a plethora of threats to biodiversity, both natural and manmade that are
destroying ecosystems on a daily basis. Out of these threats, the human influences are particularly
severe and must be taken care of at all costs. Biodiversity provides countless benefits for every
ecosystemand creature, which is what makes it worthy of conservation. Through the introduction
and relocation of species, some degree of restoration may be possible in the future. Biodiversity is
an amazing natural process that makes life

Can The Subaltern Speak?
Spivak s essay Can the Subaltern Speak? is originally published in Cary Nelson and Lawrence
Grossberg s Marxist and the Interpretation of culture(1988).(3)
In this essay, Spivak encourages and motivates but at the same time, she criticizes the effort of the

In her work, she joins her disapproval of the abuse against women, non Europeans, and the poor
by the wealthy west. Spivak faces in her essay epistemic violence done by sermons of knowledge
that shape the whole world. This epistemic violence is like a curse over subjects of discourses. It is
similar to Edward Said idea(1935 2003; public intellectual and founder of the academic field of

Rhetorical Analysis Of Advertising In Advertising
In television advertisements companies, main intention is to get the audience to buy the product

interest of the other goods they may offer. Countless methods are used to convince the audience
being targeted to buy the product. Therefore, these ads are similar in its ability to gain the
attention of their audiences by appealing to pathos. Though this essay I will seek to analyze the
rhetorical effects that help bring the commercial to life. In the Old Spice commercial, Whale the
primary focus was to convey the effectiveness of the body wash to combat the smell of sweat and
body odor. The ad presents the image of a man who is good looking and fit playing tennison a rough
sea on top of a whale, appealing to his masculinity. While in Susan Glenn (Axe) commercial, they

he wanted. It is noted that the main focus was reflecting on the girl he admired in high school,
appealing to the men emotions by stipulating that they aren t the man that woman want without the

DISCUSS THE CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH BIODIVERSITY LOSS FOR 21ST
CENTURY CONSERVATION BIOLOGISTS AND SOCIETY AS A WHOLE
Although sustainable development has been at the forefront of international agenda for many
years, we continue to focus on the growth of the economy without worrying about the impact on
the environment. Currently, our ecological footprint (the area in hectares that we require to
provide us with the ecological goods and services we use) is far exceeding our biocapacity (the
actual land available to provide these services); with the human population requiring over 1.5
earths to sustain the amount of resources we use each year (WWF, 2014). As the growth of the
human population shows no sign of slowing down, with predictions there will be a further 2.4
billion people on the planet by 2050 (WWF, 2014), the pressures we exert on the planet will only
increase. This overuse of resources is not only making it difficult to support our needs, but is also
leaving little space and resources left for all the other species around the globe to thrive, and more
importantly, survive. This has led to a decline in biodiversity at a much faster than would be seen
under natural circumstances.
According to the Living Planet Index (LPI); which measures the trends in 10,380 populations of
3,038 species of fish, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds; biodiversity has been decreasing
rapidly, with records showing a 52% reduction in the size of these populations from 1970 2010

The European Union ( Eu ) Essay
People have created unions many times but not all of them were successful, specifically when we
consider alliances among number of countries with different economics, political systems and
culture. For instance, last century brought both the biggest collapse and the most promising union
in the modern history. Although U.S.S.R has disappeared from geographical maps, some of its
members joined another alliance. The European Union(EU) is an economic and political partnership
that united 28 countries on the European part of Eurasia and represents a unique form of
cooperation among members today.
Recently, the World Bank characterized the EU as a Convergence machine based on successive
enlargements that leads to significant upward convergence in wealth between poorer and richer
member states (Gill, Raiser 2012). We should therefore not be astonished that EU membership
remains attractive to nearly all non EU states within Europe. On the one hand, it is difficult to
deny that EU enlargement promises benefits for everyone involved. For example, it brings most
notably economic benefits but also political and social benefits. On the other hand, the EU s take
it or leave it approach unnecessarily chases member states (hereinafter PMs) with accepting either
the costs of being an outsider, or the costs of modifying their norms and values to fulfill with the
EU. Of course, such external pressure is not regretful in all cases such as when minorities are being
mistreated. However, PMs

The Generation Of The Technology
The generation of the technology, the delayed life choices, the impatience, the reliance on our
parents, more commonly known as Generation Y or Millennials, is the generation born between
1980 and 2000. Older generations are always finding fault with what we, the Millennials, do or
say or didn t do or didn t say. The world is changing so fast, we can hardly keep up. It is bad
enough we have to push to learn as much as we can and apply the knowledge effectively, let
alone being criticized for every move we make by our elders, who don t really seem to help
matters but complicate them. There are many labels, mostly negative, on my generation. Some
common terms include incompetent, ghetto, lazy, apathetic, tech savvy, procrastinators, and
lacking potential for the world. In some ways these aim to be true, but in other ways they are far
from the truth. I believe that my generation has more potential than we are given credit for. We
are about to graduate, or have recently graduated high school or college, with some not even 18
years old yet. What has always baffled me is that we are expected by adults to know what we
want to do for the rest of our lives before we re even legal adults. Yes, colleges have undecided
majors, but what happens after college when some people still don t know exactly what they
enjoy? Because of this, we are criticized for not having our lives together and delaying life choices
that traditionally signaled adulthood (Evans, 1) as discussed in Boomerang

Cultural Competence And The Media
Cultural competence has been a heavy topic throughout class, the way we view different races,
cultures, and walks of life generates from the way these groups are portrayed in the media. If we
never get a chance to have direct contact with those from other walks of life, we began to group
these different races or cultures together and think everyone is the same way as those we see in
movies and on television. Although, we heavily discussed Latinos who have migrated to the
states, we rarely touched on the third and largest immigrant group to come from Europe. The
Italian Americans who came to the U.S. and made a way for not only themselves, but for their
families as well. Their stories are not as picture perfect as some we see today and if the media
has the chance to tell the story, they all have in some way had a hand in organized crime. Over
the years, the media has taken the success and profits that have come from mob movies and have
turned the Italian mob lifestyle into a money making gimmick. The making of mob movies is
not as prominent during today s time in comparison to previous years, but with the lack of
movies has come an increase in television shows that are based on the true stories of famous
mobsters from the past. With shows like Making the Mob: New York Chicago , Mafia s Greatest
Hits , and the fictional show The Sopranos just to name a few, it shows that a fascination for the
mobster lifestyle is still very strong today. Much like the other cultures we

Textual Analysis Of The Movie Bye Birdie
In the beginning of the film the audience is first welcome with Rose Perez (Tina) dancing against
the back drop of Brooklyn brownstone stairs. This is supported by the film theme song Fight the
Power by Public enemy which is heard blaring in the background while the character is dancing.
The tone of the song seems quite aggressive if not rebellious, this was due to the fact that the song
was going to be used as a leitmotif throughout the filmsimilar to other films like Indian jones
(Steven Spielberg) and even under the skin (Jonathan Glazer).
It was said that Spike Lee gained his stylistic inspiration from films Bye Bye birdie (George Birdie)
and apparently the opening from the Cosby Show. Which was an another form of black

The Battle Of The Soldiers
The three Soldiers were able to make it to the coast, they had taken a route that took them around
the Marines and 82nd Airborne, while making note of their numbers, vehicles and weapons.
They were surprised to find them there, with Second Brigade no place in sight. They entered
Baltimore from the north and headed South East, they found much of the city sparse with life,
they had found some civilians that had told them of the Supreme General and her Army and
how they were defeated. The Soldiers again, found themselves surprised, they were told stories
of fighter aircraft coming out of nowhere, and destroying the main base. They were also told of
the mighty shells that came in and destroyed the Supreme Generals compound. Following the
aircraft and shells came the Marines, fighting anyone that stood in their way, taking back the city.
The people they spoke with told them not to get them wrong, they were happy with the actions of
the Marines, they cleared out most of the gangs or ran them off. Life had been easier and safer
since they came. They also told the three Soldiers that several hundred Marines remained in the
city and were securing the port and refineries. That the Marines were being supplemented by the
Army, they thought they heard the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina. It was all so
incredible, than they were told of the ships off the coast, one was an aircraft carrier, which the
Soldiers found hard to believe. The civilians told them

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Warfarin
Warfarin, (Coumadin) is the most commonly prescribed oral anticoagulant for patients. It was
originally used for rat poisoning in mid 1900 s. It was later discovered safe for humans to digest,
to reduce blood clots from forming in the blood or arteries. Vitamin K plays a major role for blood
clotting The drug inhibits the enzyme vitamin K epoxide reductase and interferes with blood
coagulation. Patients prescribed with this drug is advised to consume less food that are rich in
vitamin K because it reduces the effects of Warfarin. Warfarin,(Coumadin) has a chemical formula
of C19H15NaO4. The expanded structure formula for this drug is more detailed compared to the
skeletal structural formula. Every single atomand bond connected are shown in the formula. The
drug Warfarin,(Coumadin) has nineteen carbons attached with hydrogens, which are only attached
if the carbon does not have four bonds connected to it, four oxygens along with one derivative
which is Na. The molar mass, (which is the sum of the masses in grams of all the elements within
the compound) for this compound is 330.3g = 1 mole C19H15NaO4.
To prepare 50.0 mL of 5.30 x 10 2 M solution from Warfarin and water one needs exactly .875
grams (which is calculated by converting the 50.0mL to liters and multiplying the liters with the
molarity over one liter to cancel out the liters. Then the molarity from that answer gets multiplied
to the grams of the drug over one mole which gives the answer .875) of the drug on a

Analysis of Colson Whitehead s John Henry Days
Thesis: Colson Whitehead s John Henry Days is a quintessentially postmodern novel because of its
cynical tone, its confluence of imagery, and its treatment of social and existential alienation.
I. When the protagonist first arrives in West Virginia, his sense of alienation and isolation become
poignant: setting the stage for what is becoming a postmodern novel. His experience checking into
the hotel as a journalist offers telling evidence of the theme of alienation: The desk man at the
hotel gave him a press packet when he registered, checking his name off a list, but J. hasn t
bothered to look at it so he doesn t know what time dinner is, (p. 693). The imagery that Whitehead
uses solidifies the core theme of social alienation. Here, the protagonist s name is disembodied. His
name is on the list, legitimizing his status in the society. On the list, he belongs to a group a
professional organization. He is accountable to his profession, and yet, the protagonist does not feel
a genuine sense of belonging. This trend continues throughout John Henry Days, and is one of the
things that characterizes the novel as being postmodern. John Henry Days addresses a protagonist
who seems completely emotionally detached from his surroundings; and yet his journalistic attitude
makes it so that he has keen intellectual insight into what is going on regarding the symbolic
meanings of the John Henry symbolism.
Journalism also happens to be a postmodern profession in the eyes of the

Religion Is No Doubt A Popular Essay
College of Charleston
Zoroastrianism:
A Discussion
Christopher M. Kountz
REL 105 (05) 9:25 a.m. 10:40 a.m.
Spring 2015
In today s society, religion is no doubt a popular, if widely contested, topic. The vast array of
belief systems that exists worldwide has a significant influence on the opposing viewpoints of
many current hot button issues, and despite the intended separation of church and state here in
the United States; religion is both a social and political force. A person s spiritual beliefs often
provide the basis for his or her entire lifestyle, including physical appearance, dietary choices, and
perhaps most importantly, decisions that directly involve one s perspective of right and wrong.
Even those who do not identify with any one particular religion typically have some knowledge of
the world s major religions, such as Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, or Islam, simply because of
their enormous numbers in terms of followers which continue to rapidly expand.
However, beyond these theological giants exists a multitude of smaller, but no less meaningful,
other religions. Zoroastrianism, for example, is one of today s smallest religions, with an estimated
200,000 followers (Hartz, p. 8). As a comparison, the Islam religion boasts over one billion
followers (Sonn, p. 185). Yet even though modern day Zoroastrianism is not nearly as widespread
as its more prominent counterparts, it is nonetheless an important cultural constituent, both due to its

A Strategic Initiative On Ifrs Standards
A Strategic Initiative on IFRS Standards
The accounting world is shaped by stringent and clear rules, principles, standards and guidelines.
These are all meant to define accounting operations and reporting discipline. With the emergence of
International Accounting Standards (IAS), which was later replaced by International Financial
Reporting Standards (IFRS), the accounting concepts, analysis, disclosures, reporting and
presentation became easier and practical. Currently, accountants, managers and related parties find
it concrete and consistent in protecting professional boundaries.
Being important to the discipline of accounting, the objectives of IFRS and IAS are to give
guidance on the presentation of financial statements. IFRS as ... Show more content on

The board acknowledges the diverse nature of regulatory framework in developing concrete and

demonstrating the understanding of complex issues in accounting. Moreover, help in
demonstrating advanced knowledge in the application of accounting standards in the preparation
and analysis of financial statements.
With complete notion and awareness of how each country has their set of rules, the goal of IFRS
is to provide a global framework for how public companies prepare and disclose their financial
statements (Rouse, 2011). This view is meant to provide general guidelines, as well as international
comparisons through conventional and edifying means. To bring broader and vivid objectives,
IFRS replaced IAS, the older standards, in order to bring a more comprehensive and simplified
accounting procedures.
IFRS addresses practical application issues that any entity is supposed and expected to encounter
within the standards. These practical issues provide a comprehensive analysis. For instance, IFRS
1 provides extensive guidelines ...and addresses practical application issues that a first time adopter
of IFRSs could expect to encounter when transitioning to IFRSs . (KPMG, 2009). The IFRS, being

buttoned up with two chest pockets with buttoned up flaps. Trousers have two pockets, two thigh

camouflage pattern and is designed for use in woodland environments. The Indian Army Desert
camouflage, which features a desert camouflage pattern, is used by artillery and infantry posted in
dusty, semi desert and desert areas of Rajasthan and its vicinity.
The forces of the East India Company in India were forced by casualties to dye their white
summer tunics to neutral tones, initially a tan called khaki (from the Hindi Urdu word for dusty ).
This was a temporary measure which became standard in Indian service in the 1880s. Only during
the Second Boer War in 1902, did the entire British Armystandardise on dun for Service Dress.
Indian Army uniform standardises on dun for khaki.
The modern Indian Army wears distinctive parade uniforms characterised by variegated turbans and

The Importance Of Earnest By Oscar Wilde
First and foremost, The Importance of Earnest is a comedy of manners as Oscar Wilde s main
premise is to satirise the behaviours of upper class Victorian society, as he knew it. In order to
achieve this he created witty dialogue, ridiculed the institution of marriage and appealed, more, to
the audience s intelligence than their emotions. However, he also creates comedyby installing
farcical features such as mistaken identity, physical humourand an absurd plot.
Through the use of repartee (one of the main features of a Comedy of Manners), between Jack
and Algernon in Act 1, Wilde displays the upper class as hypocritical. When Jack says, My dear
Algy, you talk exactly as if you were a dentist. It is very vulgar to talk like a dentist when one isn
t a dentist. It produces a false impression. He tries to claim that Algernon is being deceitful but
instead, highlights his own hypocrisy, as previously he had been trying to deceive him about
Cecily. By using three consecutive short sentences, a slow and steady pace is created; contrary
to the effect it usually has or is used for. This casual pace is hilarious because it creates an
agreeable tone, when in fact, what he is saying is not of reason. From this, the audience can tell
that Jack is arguing for the sake of arguing, since his words are not of actual substance, which
makes it even funnier seeing that he is constructing an irrelevant link that does not even prove his
point. It highlights how trivial Jack is; perhaps

J. L Mackie Omnipotence Analysis
J.L. Mackie Evil and the Problem of Omnipotence
Mackie starts of his work by saying that thus far the arguments made for god s existence has been
faulty at best. but that is no reason to not believe in god. He then goes on to say philosophy is a
double edged sword. Philosophy can both argue for god s existence but can also criticize god s
existence. Mackie then goes on to say that he believes that there is a contradiction he states God is
omnipotent and God is wholly good; and Yet Some evil exists. (Mackie pg. 200). Mackie believes
that if something is omnipotent it can do anything thus vanquishing evil forever. And if something
is wholly good then its entirely good thus would try to eliminate all evil. But evil still exists.
Mackie concludes that at least one of the statements must be false. Mackie ... Show more content on

Because if god is wholly he would never do any evil not under any circumstance. Also this again
contradicts the fact that God is omnipotent if he can t create without evil. Mackie also debunks
The universe is better with some evil in it than it could be if there were no evil. ( Mackie pg.
206) This one Mackie quickly disproves by simply saying that it s a restatement of a previous
theory. Mackie believes it s a restatement of Evil is necessary as a means to good thus having the
same fallacies. The final theory Mackie debunks is Evil is due to human freewill (Mackie
pg.208). Mackie believes this to be the best solution and answer for evil. The idea behind this is
maybe evil has no connection to god but rather human being with free will. This then raises another
question why would god give free will to people if it would lead to evil thus again contradicting
that god is wholly good. He says 1. Free will is good and would be worse to lack it. 2. Its
impossible for god to grant someone free will and to guarantee evil will never be done. Mackie
concludes by saying there is no valid solution of the problem. That

Theme Of Death In The Masque Of The Red Death
The real man smiles in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection.
(Thomas Paine). The two stories Masque of the red death and Flight there is a discussion of
finding oneself as well as there virtues. In the story Flight , the main protagonist, Pepe has
trouble growing into the man his mother expects of him and is considered lazy. By the end of
the story though Pepe finds his way to becoming a man when it was needed, but learns the hard
way. In Masque of the Red Death, a deadly plague is rampaging society. While this is occuring the
upper class throw a party to forget and distance themselves away from the widespread agony taking
place. The characters ethics must be called to question and it is to be determined whether or not
they deserved death ultimately. Edgar Allan Poes Masque of the Red Death and John Steinbeck s
Flight both use different sources of conflict to convey the idea of facing Reality and
Disillusionment.
In both stories the characters go through internal conflict where they are met with disillusionment.
In Masque of the Red Death , the main character is going through an internal conflict. In the party
that was thrown, there came yet another chiming of the clock, and then were the same disconcert
and tremulous and meditation as before (Poe). It can be perceived that the chime of the clock was a
way of demonstrating death catching up to the main characters. This shows the internal conflict of

Hegemonic Masculinity And Music
the winning and holding of power and the formation (and destruction) of social groups in that

Moreover, it includes persuasion of a big part of the population, especially through the media and
the organization of social institutions. Homophobia and heterosexuality form the foundation for
hegemonic masculinity and all comprehension of its meaning is predicated on the feminist insight
that in general the relationship of men to women is oppressive (644). Hegemonic masculinity is
grounded in form of the hero and displayed through forms that deal with heroes, e.g., sagas, and
westerns, in television, books, and movies (Connell qtd. in Donaldson 646). To define a specific
form of masculinity as hegemonic, it is important to note that its exaltation stabilizes a structure of

hindu death rituals
There is one thing that is certain in this lifetime that eventually we all must die. A belief in the
cyclical reincarnation of the soul is one of the foundations of the Hindu religion. Death is viewed
as a natural aspect of life, and there are numerous epic tales, sacred scriptures, and vedic guidance
that describe the reason for deaths existence, the rituals that should be performed surrounding it,
and the many possible destinations of the soul after departure from its earthly existence (Retrieved

The standard cremation ceremony begins with the ritual cleansing, dressing and adorning of the
body. The body is then carried to the cremation ground as prayers are chanted to Yama, invoking his
aid.
It is usually the chief mourner and the eldest son who perform the Agni or fire ceremony. He
circumambulates the pyre counterclockwise for everything is backward at the time of death and
lights the pyre. The death now is an offering to Agni. After burning the corpse the chief mourner
cracks the skull with a bamboo , thus releasing the soul from entrapment in the body. After
cremation a thirteen day ritual is done for the safety of the soul till it reaches heaven. Family
read a holy book called Bhagwat Geeta every afternoon for the deceased person. .Twelve hours
after the cremation, the ashes are thrown into a river, ideally the Ganges river, and the mourners
walk away without looking back. On the 3rd, 5th, 7th or 9th day, relatives gather for a meal of
the deceased s favorite foods. A portion is offered before his photo and later ceremonially left at
an abandoned place, along with some lit camphor. On the 31st day, a memorial service is held. In
some traditions it is a repetition of the funeral rites. At home, all thoroughly clean the house. the

Hate Crime In America
Hate crime has been an ongoing issue in America. The Federal Bureau of Investigation report
released in 2014 recorded 5928 hate crimes and 7242 victims. Hatred and antagonism are not new to
American society; it s only getting worse and more ingrained gradually. It is striking to know that
the communities America has alienated, such as African Americans and women, have always been
integral elements in its society. To better comprehend victimization, the subsequent aspects will be

A Speech On A Quiet Summer Night Essay
Introduction
On a quiet summer night on June 17, 2015 a 19 year old young man, wearing a gray sweatshirt,
dark jeans and Timberlands, walked into a historic, pre civil war era church. There was no lock
preventing his entry. There was no security guard he had to walk by. There was only a security
camera that would catch his unassuming entrance. Once inside he sat quietly as the regular
attendees held a small prayer service. He was welcomed and sat with the small group as they
read the word of God. No one could tell from his demeanor or his appearance he was there to do
unthinkable harm to those inside. And without provocation or warning he began to shoot one
unarmed person after another, after another. He took the necessary time needed to ensure each
shot was a lethal shot as most of the parishners were dead before emergency medical attention
would arrive. The armed gunman was not concerned he would be stopped by any of those inside
Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. He was not concerned any of his
victims would have a firearm that could be used against him. Why? Maybe it s because people of
worship feel safe enough inside their house of worship. Therefore, a firearm is unnecessary.
Maybe it s because even legal Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP) holders cannot freely carry a
firearm inside a church. No matter the reason, no one inside the church felt compelled to carry a
concealed weapon that fateful night in Charleston, South Carolina.

The Influence Of Hadrian s Unjust Society
Have you ever envisioned something powerful, but to become magnificent there needed to be a
change from within? Hadrian looked at Rome this same way. Being born into a world of hatred
and power crazed rulers, Hadrian became a light to the people around him; he broke through the
norm and change things for Rome. After many years of struggles and unjust actions that resulted in
the division in society, Rome was in need of a level headed ruler with a solid military and
educated background. Hadrian s devotion for the people and orderliness of the Roman Empirewas
the main drive towards his ambitions and changes. Hadrian s military and educated background
encouraged him to establish peace and safety throughout his time as emperor, and in turn creating...

(McKay, Hill, Buckler, Crowston, Weisner Hanks, Perry, (2014, p.167), Hadrian had an
impressive way of learning about the issues of the land and the people, never being the typical
emperor whom sat back and made commands. He was a hands on emperor whom traveled many
years traveling and learning about the land and the welfare of the people (Lannom, 1999). With
hands on interaction between the people of Rome and the issues they experienced, Hadrian was
able to learn firsthand and knew beyond a doubt what needed changes the most. Rome was an
unjust society for many decades, however Hadrian saw things differently. Hadrian had a
credible military background before assuming the empire seat; this is what gave him the
knowledge towards necessary army and military changes. One way of putting things in
perspective and evolving orderliness with in the empire was to make the people feel safe and
secure; this resulted in building a wall between boarders, Hadrian s Wall (McKay, et al., 2014,
p.167). Hadrian narrowed the military s job down from a conquering empire to a defending
empire, he was a devout dedicated military man himself and expect no less from his military.
Security began with the military changes and peace, Hadrian felt,

Jerome Lawrence Inherit The Wind
Jerome Lawrence who was born in 1915 and passed away in 2004, was a playwright with his
partner Robert E. Lee. Jerome Lawrence s childhood and life experiences have shaped his works.
One of his plays with Robert E. Lee was based on the famous Scopes Trial, which was the
prosecution of a teacher for teaching his class the theory of evolution. The recurring theme
throughout the play Inherit The Windis the right to freedom of thought.
2. Historical Context
This play was created directly after the Mccarthyism era where many people were accused of being
communist in America. They viewed the McCarthy investigations as a shackling of freedom of
thought through coercion, public pressure and fear of punishment (Miller 3). The Mccarthyism era

(Lawrence 62). This is somewhat Drummonds opinion and his argument that people don t know
what to do in life and don t know what to believe, but it is up to that person to have the freedom to
decide for themselves. As the theme developed through the story Drummond would contradict the
bible. While giving another opinion regarding the bible, Drummond does not do this to discredit it
or say it s incorrect but to say there are other things that could be true such as evolution. Then why
did God plague us with the power to think?...Or does a sponge think? (Lawrence 94). The right to
freedom of thought was fought through the loopholes of the bible, for a way for Drummond to

The Importance Of Organising A Local Live Music Event
Four piece indie rock band The Reveurs reached out to promoters to assemble a live music event
celebrating the release of new single, Control. The process of organising a local live music event
involved various procedures, personnel, strategies and considerations. This document clarifies the
preparation of the launch, supported by industry resources and the development of accordance.
The project was conceived seven weeks prior to the event by headlining band, The Reveurs. Band
members had a preconceived idea of what they expected from the event. Due to the nature of the
event, it was most appropriate to book a promoter who would manage all elements rather than
paying a sizable fee to an event managementcompany. The promoter was expected to examine and
determine all of the clients requirements through briefing. Asking too few questions or not listening
adequately to a client s answers can compromise the success of the event you plan (Entrepreneur
Press, 2010, p.28). Arguably, the interaction between the client and the promoter is the most vital
due to the communication between the two parties being the starting point of the project. Various
factors were of greater importance such as the purpose and date of the event, whilst other factors
were subject to compromise. Any event serves to gather a crowd with a common interest and in the
case of a musical experience, the musicians serve to entertain an audience. With regard to The
Reveurs single launch, the primary

Prevention And Improvement Of Community Health
Merriam Webster defines Public Health as The art and science dealing with the protection and
improvement of community health by organized community effort and including preventive
medicine and sanitary and social science (Merriam Webster). Throughout recent history, factors that
have seriously threatened human safety whether it be disease, genocide, pollutants, or plague, have
been identified as public healthconcerns by various governments and organizations. These situations
are remedied by creating a solution to correct the source of the problem. For example, finding the
cure to a fatal disease or shutting down factories that create environmental toxins. One of the most
under recognized public health emergencies in the United States is the violence caused by firearms,
and the source of this violence is unregulated gun ownership. The high percentage of gun ownership
among American citizens and the amount of injury and death that is associated with it constitutes a
public health emergency in The United States of America, which constantly, consistently, and
gravely endangers the American people; this violence must be controlled. Like any other potential
public health concern, the gun violence must be qualified based on the level of deaths and injuries
that occur as its direct result. The World Health Organizationdefines a public health emergency as an
occurrence or imminent threat of an illness or health condition, caused by bio terrorism, epidemic
or pandemicdisease,

America Is A Melting Pot
America is a melting pot made up of people from many different races and ethnic backgrounds,
so why are the American news broadcasters predominantly white men in their late forties? News
represents the American society so therefore American broadcasters should reflect society as a
whole. In addition, many people consider news anchors role models and it is important to see
themselves represented and trust their news source. The lack of diversity among newscasters
impacts the audience s reception of the news. People are more likely to trust news sources that
they relate to and identify with. Many people do not even notice the lack of diversity or understand
the impact it has on society. There needs to be more of an effort to reflect diversity among our
newscasters to correct the history of discrimination, to accurately reflect the audience and to
provide role models and promote positive images.
The United States is called a melting pot because the the varied groups of people that live in the
country and interact every day, but the country also has an ugly history or discrimination against
women and minorities. The broadcasting industry has been guilty of this discrimination. There has
been blatant discrimination against women newscasters. Women journalists initially had difficulty
breaking into the broadcast news field and did not begin to make real strides towards equality until
the 1960s and 1970s ( Irvin) . This is very discouraging to young women interested in this

Since the design in the fashion industry rarely creates a new process, machine or manufactures,
they have a separate statute specifically for them for new, original and ornamental design for an
article of manufacture. Trade dress protection is addressed under the Lanham Act to defend the
design and appearance of the product as well as that of the container and all elements making up
the total visual image by which the product is presented to customers. Colors have also been
addressed under the Trade dress protection in which the United States Supreme Court has stated that
the color and designs of a product are only protected under the Lanham Act if a secondary meaning
has been demonstrated. Color and design must be associated by the customer for that particular
product over time.
In 2004, the legal team decided to advance with option 4: Trademark protection. They claimed
trademark infringement, trademark dilution, as well as unfair competition and false designation.
Trademark infringement harbors a manufacturer or seller s product to include a word, slogan or
symbol. For instance, Apple is an example of a word that cannot be used in relationship with
software or computers as it will cause confusion from a consumer s perspective. Nike holds the
trademark of the slogan Just Do It that is associated with its product and McDonald s hold

Good Night And Goodluck Analysis
Good Night. And, Good Luck by George Clooney and Grant Heslov follows CBS reporter
Edward R. Murrow and his producer Fred Friendly who resolve to take a stand against Senator
Joseph McCarthy. There was an air of fear and paranoia in the United States, in the 1950 s,
because of Communism. Those fears were manipulated by McCarthy, who wanted to gain more
power by calling out people who he claimed to have communist ties. His only piece of evidence
involved a sealed envelope that no one could see the contents of. Murrow and his reporting team
decide to do a piece on those exploitations. The first piece they do is on an air force officer who
was fired because his father was deemed to be a communist. It was clear that there was no fair trial
held and the officer s rights were violated. Although... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

world in rightful way. He found McCarthy to be a liar who was taking away peoples right and
wanted to open people s eyes, to show them that they have the right to speak out. Toward the end
of his program, Murrow gave a memorable speech: This is no time for men who oppose Senator
McCarthy s methods to keep silent, or for those who approve. We can deny our heritage and our
history, but we cannot escape responsibility for the result. There is no way for a citizen of a
republic to abdicate his responsibilities. As a nation we have come into our full inheritance at a
tender age. We proclaim ourselves, as indeed we are, the defenders of freedom, wherever it
continues to exist in the world, but we cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home. After
Murrow s show ended, McCarthy political influence diminished. Unfortunately, the consequences of

Comparison Of Melanin And The Science Of Tanning
Two times of melanin are produced within the body, one is called eumelanin and it is responsible
for the golden brown color we normally associate with tanning. Another pigment is called
pheomelanin and it produces a red color. Redheads and blondes produce more pheomelanin and less
eumelanin, which is why they don t tan as well. Sunlightand ultravioletrays affect the pituitary
gland, a gland at the base of the brain that secretes hormones, which then produces melanocyte
stimulating hormone. This hormone flows through the bloodstream to the melanocytes, which
makes them able to produce more melanin. (The Science of Tanning) Most people are exposed to

In US, in 1983 itself government was planning to release Ice minus bacteria into the environment.

these GMO s before releasing them in the environment. The Pseudomonas syringae is a naturally
occurring bacteria and people believe it is involved in rain formation and it harbors a gene which
can form ice crystals. By isolating the gene scientist has removed some part of the gene so that it
cannot form ice, so it has name as ice minus. Now they felt that if you introduce this into the plants,
it will produce frost free plants, but no one knows that is the long term complications it will give

Interracial Relationships Essay
Interracial Relationships For centuries human beings have been on a quest for love. As time has
passed, this search has lead to mixing of races and resulted in interracial relationships, both long
term couples and casual dating. An interracial relationship is defined by the Webster dictionary
as intimacies between two people of different races. I had no idea when I immigrated to the U.S
in 1996, I would fall in love with a black girl, said Dirk Schwartz. Immigration has boosted the
number of interracial relationships by increasing the chances of meeting people from different
culture and racial backgrounds. Schwartz, a 28 year old investment broker, grew up in Berlin, the

By 2050, the immigrant population is expected to grow by 13%, up from the current rate of
10%, drastically impacting the interracial relationships. Being in an interracial relationship has
taught me to be considerate of other cultures, said Schwartz. Thirty seven years ago, interracial
dating and marrying, which is now on the rises throughout the United States, was banned by 19
states. Back then interracial couples like * Lenny Wilson and *Amy Lynn, would be shunned,
jailed or killed. In 1967 the Supreme Court ruled in the case Loving v. Virginia that laws against
interracial marriages, dating back to 1661, were unconstitutional. States like South Carolina and
Alabama ignored the Supreme Courts decisions. In 1998, 103 years later, South Carolina finally
lifted the ban on interracial marriages. It would take Alabama two more years to remove its ban.
Wilson, a black 25 year old male, and his 23 year old white girlfriend, Amy, have lived together for
the last seven years. The couple has three kids, 5 year old Alexander, 4 year old Noah and 2 year

The Alien Formation of Crop Circles Essay example
Since the 1600 s, crop circles have fascinated millions. Originally from the town of Hertfordshire,
UK, the first circle was claimed to be by the Mowing Devil , as found in an English newspaper
dated back to 1678. (Gail) The image in the center of the paper depicts a small, devilish creature
with a scythe, mowing two rectangular, offset circles. Modern circles form themselves in
anything that will take imprint, typically in fields of oats, barley, or corn. (Pringle 5) Since the
1600 s forward, crop circles have dramatically become more complex. Many people believe that
they are works of art, while some believe they are an act of vandalism. But who, or what, are

(Stewart 52 53) These triple with another abnormality, found in most genuine circles: small,
magnetized iron spheres. Some set in the soil, and some inside of the plant tissue itself. These
were first discovered in 1993 Cherhill, England, in which many of the plants of the formation were
coated with an iron glaze. (Talbott) Photomicrographs provided by the BLT Research Team closely
show such evidence of these iron spheres. Using these abnormalities, Nancy Talbott of The BLT
Research Team conducted a study with M.I.T. Undergraduates assigning them to create a crop circle
hoax that fit all three parameters. Although the resulting crop circle did not consist of any of the
abnormalities Talbott stated, the students did manage to accomplish a surprisingly geometrically
accurate formation modeled after the school s auditorium, Kresge Auditorium. (Talbott) Vandals
create hoaxes, but who creates the real ones? Some believe that the source of crop circles may be
from a species indigenous to earth, such as gnomes, trolls, or fairies, though absolutely no
evidence supports this. In a personal interview with Maja Z. of Croatia, Maja stated that she
believes crop formations are created by these beings, namely the gnomes and fairies, that she calls
elders . I think it s like fairytale, she says. She believes they are sending messages

Tellico Dam Controversy
It s All About Giving a Dam
The dam and reservoir required the purchase of about 22,000 acres of land 1 1 . This is the number
that lies at the heart of a wound and a controversy that is deeply rooted in Eastern Tennessee. While
the number is large and significant, it is not the amount of land that was lost to the Tellico Dam
project that caused the people of that area such grief. Rather, it was the meaning of the land that
once intertwined irreplaceable history, livelihoods, sport and the like of a community for centuries.
At a time in the nation s history where just the pitch for job growth and intercommunication
between urban and countryside peaked the interest of hurting rural communities, TVA was met with
harsh opposition from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, due to the demand for soldiers for World War II the wheels of the operation did not
officially begin until almost 30 years later (1). Approval for the Tellico project came in the early
1960s when the TVA had the unified support of congressional delegates from Tennessee
, as well as
all other southeastern states that would be directly affected by the damming of the Little Tennessee
River. On April 15, 1963, after the endorsement for the project was approved, congressional
funding was sought after in order to move forward with foundational structure. Finally, after a few
minor complications in procedure, the Public Works Appropriation Act included $3.2 million to
begin the construction of the tellico Dam in March of 1967. (21) Originally, the support for the
dam on the governmental side was lacking, due to the notion that the benefit to cost ratio hovered
around .6 to 1. The rationale for such dismal projections was due to the fact that Tellico Dam could
not stand alone as a power generation project. This forced the TVA to adjust how they pitched the
idea to receive enough funding to ensure that the idea received enough support.(16) Rather than
focusing on a energy efficiency and infrastructural growth as a platform, the Authority presented to
plan as social benefit the otherwise rural and quiet society. The

  • 2. Broke Car Four Ways To Get The Car Of Your Dreams Without Going Broke If your heart skips a beat every time you see a certain make or model of car and the one you re driving is on its last leg, it s time to go shopping! However, affording the car of your dreams can be next to impossible on a tight budget. Here are five ways to put yourself into the vehicle you really want, even though your finances force you to be frugal. 1. Find New Ways To Save More Money The higher the down payment you apply to the price of a vehicle, the lower your monthly payments will be, thus, if you can figure out ways to save more money and drop more cash at the point of purchase, you can look for the car of your dreams, rather than whatever is on sale. Evaluate your spending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why not ask a local dealer to look on your behalf? If they know you re serious, they will keep an eye out for you, watching for your preferred model and specifications. While there will be fees added to the auction price to cover the dealer s expenses, you re still going to end up with a good deal. 4. Buy Basic And Pimp The Vehicle Later Paying cash or financing your used vehicle will be cheaper if there are fewer bells and whistles installed and might land you behind the wheel faster than if you have to look around for a well equipped model. You could budget things like a stereo, window tint and mag wheels over the course of the next year, rather than factoring those expenses into your monthly payment or up front costs when paying cash. Customizing the car later could be a lot of fun and doing it on your terms means considerable savings. Finding the perfect car for yourself on terms you can live with isn t easy, but the more educated and creative you are, the more doors you will open for yourself. Talk to a dealer, examine all your options and make the necessary moves that will put you behind the wheel of something you really love and can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the story Marionettes Inc, and the movie, Ex Machina, both mediums displayed a clear and concise message about Artificial Intelligence, that is, when you create or utilize an AI robot with human like qualities, there is always a possibility that it may turn against their rightful owner or creator, and will ultimately lead to their downfall. The extent to which an intelligent, well constructed robot can think, behave, and act, has no limit. Once you give something a mind of its own, you are incapable of controlling its actions and behaviours, leading to serious drawbacks of creating a robot. In the movie, Nathan s persistent goal of ... • 4. The Death Of A Man s Obedience Obedience You have to make choices whether to follow the rules of not. To be obedient means to comply with an order, request, or submission to another s authority. This authority has the power to make an individual obey in ways that go against their personal and moral values. Because of this the authority can make individuals commit terrible acts without question. An example of this can be the abhorrent and inhumane acts carried out by German soldiers in WWII. All the German troops orders were from one single individual, Adolf Hitler. Why is it that man is so prone to obey and why is it hard for him to contravene? The reason for man s obedience is a mixture of social influences, authorityfigures, and their own self conscience. A person s obedience can be derived from social pressure and group minds. Most all people live their lives in groups such as with family, work groups, school peers, political groups, etc. Also most people want to belong to a group and can t stand being unaccompanied. We are group animals and tend to think as the group thinks which makes it hard for an individual to maintain their own opinions. According to Lessing, People who have experienced a lot of groups, who have observed their own behavior, may agree that the hardest thing in the world is to stand out against one s group, a group of one s peers. Many agree that among our most shameful memories is this, how often we said black was white because other people were saying it (653). A person s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some people just don t feel motivated anymore while others have external reasons, such as family issues. Whatever the reason, there is an epidemic in the American school system. African Americans are dropping out at a higher rate than any race. According to Cde.ca.Gov: Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high schoolin the United States alone. That s a student every 26 seconds or 7,000 a day . According to Mecurynews In Alameda county alone African Americans had a 67 percent graduation rate while having a 20.1 percent dropout rate. African Americans tend to have less resources and more economic hardships while in school. When going to school it helps when you have access to tutors and highly qualified teachers. In an article by Princeton university Research indicates that children from low SES households and communities develop academic skills more slowly compared to children from higher SES groups . Initial academic skills are correlated with the home environment, where low literacy environments and chronic stress negatively affect a child s preacademic skills. If a student does not get the necessary aid and support when going to school then they are probably going to drop out because at that point it becomes an actual struggle for them to go to school everyday. Likewise, according to the National Center for Education Statistics African Americans are more likely to attend high poverty schools than Asian Americans and Caucasians. When students go to a school that is extremely destitute, they are more prone to be exposed to the harsh reality of low budget education. There is a higher chance that the technology is antediluvian and the materials being taught are not the most recent information that the state test on. Therefore African Americans in general are going to perform a lower level than other races and eventually bottom out because they don t see the point in going to school anymore. In addition being poor plays a big role on whether you will graduate from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Survey On Champaign County Champaign County was first covered by the Illinois Glacier (191,000 130,000 years ago), which leveled the region and covered it in a deposit of boulder clay. The county s topography was then formed by the Wisconsin Glacier about 20,000 years ago. As lobes of ice from what is now Lake Michigan crossed the county, a deep (up to 300 ft) pile of glacial soil was created and topped by numerous moraines (any glacially formed accumulations of unconsolidated debris) forming small, flat watersheds with no outlets. The moraines formed as the Wisconsin Glacier advanced and receded many times over the Midwest. The Champaign moraine system now crosses the county in a northwest southeast direction, and between the moraines ridges are broad plains of what used to be swampy land, most of which has since been artificially drained. Thousands of years ago, the territory consisted of wet, marshy land. The area currently known as Champaign County was formerly occupied by the migratory Kickapoo Indians before an 1819 treaty granted the land to the US government. European settlement of Champaign County was restricted by the amount of land that required drainage. Since Champaign County is situated on a large and very flat plateau, it had virtually no natural drainage until the 1870s when settlers began building drainage ditches. The resulting upland marsh lead to a high incidence of malaria in the region in the late nineteenth century. About one million acres (10%) of Illinoispre columbian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. The Risk Factors of Osteoarthritis Essay OA has a complex pathology, with numerous environmental and genetic risk factors. Generally, OA is thought to be caused by a complex interaction between environmental and genetic factors (Valdes et al., 2009). A variety of epidemiological studies have demonstrated that genetic susceptibility is a key regulator of OA aetiology (Peach et al., 2005). Genetic variations may influence several OA risk factors, including obesity, skeletal shape, bone mass and synovitis (Valdes et al., 2011a). Furthermore, it has been shown that generalized OA phenotype, sensitivity to pain and disease progression may be also determined by genetic susceptibility (Valdes et al., 2010a; van Meurs et al., 2009; Kerkhof et al., 2010). In the 1940s familial clustering ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... OA is generally recognized as a complex multi factor disease that has mostly small and modest effect susceptibility loci (Reynard et al., 2012). Over the past decade efforts have been focused on the search for loci that predispose to OA. The following approaches most often have been attempts to provide insight into the complexity of OA genetics: genetic linkage studies (LA), genome wide association studies (GWAS) and candidate gene studies. LA exploits the fact that genes have a tendency to be inherited together because they are located close to each other. After identification of a linkage, all genes in the linked region need to be identified and in this manner candidate genes of interest for a disease can be established. LA has been successful in localizing chromosomal regions containing highly penetrant genetic variants. However, in a common disease, such as OA, the success of LA is very limited for a number of reasons, including the low power of identification of genes with modest effects and the large impact of environmental influences (Risch et al., 1996). After the completion of the Human Genome Sequencing project, which provided the opportunity to systematically search across the genome and to test large numbers of common genetic variants for association with disease, GWAS have been successfully applied to the study of many complex diseases. GWAS make it possible to examine the associations of thousands of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Biodiversity And Its Impact On Biodiversity Biodiversity is what makes the planet earth unique and different from every other planet in the solar system. Biodiversity can be studied on a global level all the way down to studying it within a microscopic ecosystem (National Wildlife Federation, 2015). It is important to understand that biodiversity can be looked at genetically as well as environmentally as well. For example, genetic biodiversityis seen in the variation of different breeds within the dog species, while environmental biodiversity is the diversity of ecosystems and habitats (National Wildlife Federation, 2015). Preserving biodiversity is perhaps the most important task that humans have to complete while living on this planet. The ecosystems that make up all of the regions worldwide are immensely complex, so conservation may be difficult at times. Additionally, many factors influence the species that inhabit ecosystems, and these factors may complicate the preservation of biodiversity. Moreover, there is a plethora of threats to biodiversity, both natural and manmade that are destroying ecosystems on a daily basis. Out of these threats, the human influences are particularly severe and must be taken care of at all costs. Biodiversity provides countless benefits for every ecosystemand creature, which is what makes it worthy of conservation. Through the introduction and relocation of species, some degree of restoration may be possible in the future. Biodiversity is an amazing natural process that makes life ... In this essay, I will be analyzing the these to ads, Whale (Old Spice) and Susan Glenn (Axe). These ads are formulated to get their products noticed, along with sparking the interest of the other goods they may offer. Countless methods are used to convince the audience being targeted to buy the product. Therefore, these ads are similar in its ability to gain the attention of their audiences by appealing to pathos. Though this essay I will seek to analyze the rhetorical effects that help bring the commercial to life. In the Old Spice commercial, Whale the primary focus was to convey the effectiveness of the body wash to combat the smell of sweat and body odor. The ad presents the image of a man who is good looking and fit playing tennison a rough sea on top of a whale, appealing to his masculinity. While in Susan Glenn (Axe) commercial, they use their product to show if he had worn that product in high school then he would have had the girl he wanted. It is noted that the main focus was reflecting on the girl he admired in high school, appealing to the men emotions by stipulating that they aren t the man that woman want without the smell of axe. We can see that these two nature loving empowerment groups are very similar so, why then should the girls be joining the boys if they are so similar? The BSA is selling the idea that it would be more convenient for families to have one program that welcomes the entire family. It is interesting that the GSA leadership is opposed to this change and reports that this is a ploy to boost the BSA s falling number of recruits. DISCUSS THE CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH BIODIVERSITY LOSS FOR 21ST CENTURY CONSERVATION BIOLOGISTS AND SOCIETY AS A WHOLE Although sustainable development has been at the forefront of international agenda for many years, we continue to focus on the growth of the economy without worrying about the impact on the environment. Currently, our ecological footprint (the area in hectares that we require to provide us with the ecological goods and services we use) is far exceeding our biocapacity (the actual land available to provide these services); with the human population requiring over 1.5 earths to sustain the amount of resources we use each year (WWF, 2014). As the growth of the human population shows no sign of slowing down, with predictions there will be a further 2.4 billion people on the planet by 2050 (WWF, 2014), the pressures we exert on the planet will only increase. This overuse of resources is not only making it difficult to support our needs, but is also leaving little space and resources left for all the other species around the globe to thrive, and more importantly, survive. This has led to a decline in biodiversity at a much faster than would be seen under natural circumstances. According to the Living Planet Index (LPI); which measures the trends in 10,380 populations of 3,038 species of fish, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds; biodiversity has been decreasing rapidly, with records showing a 52% reduction in the size of these populations from 1970 2010 ... The European Union ( Eu ) Essay People have created unions many times but not all of them were successful, specifically when we consider alliances among number of countries with different economics, political systems and culture. For instance, last century brought both the biggest collapse and the most promising union in the modern history. Although U.S.S.R has disappeared from geographical maps, some of its members joined another alliance. The European Union(EU) is an economic and political partnership that united 28 countries on the European part of Eurasia and represents a unique form of cooperation among members today. Recently, the World Bank characterized the EU as a Convergence machine based on successive enlargements that leads to significant upward convergence in wealth between poorer and richer member states (Gill, Raiser 2012). We should therefore not be astonished that EU membership remains attractive to nearly all non EU states within Europe. On the one hand, it is difficult to deny that EU enlargement promises benefits for everyone involved. For example, it brings most notably economic benefits but also political and social benefits. On the other hand, the EU s take it or leave it approach unnecessarily chases member states (hereinafter PMs) with accepting either the costs of being an outsider, or the costs of modifying their norms and values to fulfill with the EU. Of course, such external pressure is not regretful in all cases such as when minorities are being mistreated. However, PMs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We are about to graduate, or have recently graduated high school or college, with some not even 18 years old yet. What has always baffled me is that we are expected by adults to know what we want to do for the rest of our lives before we re even legal adults. If we never get a chance to have direct contact with those from other walks of life, we began to group these different races or cultures together and think everyone is the same way as those we see in movies and on television. Although, we heavily discussed Latinos who have migrated to the states, we rarely touched on the third and largest immigrant group to come from Europe. The Italian Americans who came to the U.S. and made a way for not only themselves, but for their families as well. Their stories are not as picture perfect as some we see today and if the media has the chance to tell the story, they all have in some way had a hand in organized crime. Over the years, the media has taken the success and profits that have come from mob movies and have turned the Italian mob lifestyle into a money making gimmick. The making of mob movies is not as prominent during today s time in comparison to previous years, but with the lack of movies has come an increase in television shows that are based on the true stories of famous mobsters from the past. It was later discovered safe for humans to digest, to reduce blood clots from forming in the blood or arteries. Vitamin K plays a major role for blood clotting The drug inhibits the enzyme vitamin K epoxide reductase and interferes with blood coagulation. Patients prescribed with this drug is advised to consume less food that are rich in vitamin K because it reduces the effects of Warfarin. Warfarin,(Coumadin) has a chemical formula of C19H15NaO4. The expanded structure formula for this drug is more detailed compared to the skeletal structural formula. Every single atomand bond connected are shown in the formula. The drug Warfarin,(Coumadin) has nineteen carbons attached with hydrogens, which are only attached if the carbon does not have four bonds connected to it, four oxygens along with one derivative which is Na. • 29. Analysis of Colson Whitehead s John Henry Days Thesis: Colson Whitehead s John Henry Days is a quintessentially postmodern novel because of its cynical tone, its confluence of imagery, and its treatment of social and existential alienation. I. When the protagonist first arrives in West Virginia, his sense of alienation and isolation become poignant: setting the stage for what is becoming a postmodern novel. His experience checking into the hotel as a journalist offers telling evidence of the theme of alienation: The desk man at the hotel gave him a press packet when he registered, checking his name off a list, but J. hasn t bothered to look at it so he doesn t know what time dinner is, (p. 693). The imagery that Whitehead uses solidifies the core theme of social alienation. Here, the protagonist s name is disembodied. His name is on the list, legitimizing his status in the society. On the list, he belongs to a group a professional organization. He is accountable to his profession, and yet, the protagonist does not feel a genuine sense of belonging. This trend continues throughout John Henry Days, and is one of the things that characterizes the novel as being postmodern. John Henry Days addresses a protagonist who seems completely emotionally detached from his surroundings; and yet his journalistic attitude makes it so that he has keen intellectual insight into what is going on regarding the symbolic meanings of the John Henry symbolism. Kountz REL 105 (05) 9:25 a.m. 10:40 a.m. Spring 2015 In today s society, religion is no doubt a popular, if widely contested, topic. The vast array of belief systems that exists worldwide has a significant influence on the opposing viewpoints of many current hot button issues, and despite the intended separation of church and state here in the United States; religion is both a social and political force. A person s spiritual beliefs often provide the basis for his or her entire lifestyle, including physical appearance, dietary choices, and perhaps most importantly, decisions that directly involve one s perspective of right and wrong. Even those who do not identify with any one particular religion typically have some knowledge of the world s major religions, such as Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism, or Islam, simply because of their enormous numbers in terms of followers which continue to rapidly expand. However, beyond these theological giants exists a multitude of smaller, but no less meaningful, other religions. Zoroastrianism, for example, is one of today s smallest religions, with an estimated 200,000 followers (Hartz, p. 8). As a comparison, the Islam religion boasts over one billion followers (Sonn, p. 185). • 33. The Importance Of Earnest By Oscar Wilde First and foremost, The Importance of Earnest is a comedy of manners as Oscar Wilde s main premise is to satirise the behaviours of upper class Victorian society, as he knew it. In order to achieve this he created witty dialogue, ridiculed the institution of marriage and appealed, more, to the audience s intelligence than their emotions. However, he also creates comedyby installing farcical features such as mistaken identity, physical humourand an absurd plot. Through the use of repartee (one of the main features of a Comedy of Manners), between Jack and Algernon in Act 1, Wilde displays the upper class as hypocritical. When Jack says, My dear Algy, you talk exactly as if you were a dentist. It is very vulgar to talk like a dentist when one isn t a dentist. It produces a false impression. He tries to claim that Algernon is being deceitful but instead, highlights his own hypocrisy, as previously he had been trying to deceive him about Cecily. By using three consecutive short sentences, a slow and steady pace is created; contrary to the effect it usually has or is used for. This casual pace is hilarious because it creates an agreeable tone, when in fact, what he is saying is not of reason. From this, the audience can tell that Jack is arguing for the sake of arguing, since his words are not of actual substance, which makes it even funnier seeing that he is constructing an irrelevant link that does not even prove his point. It highlights how trivial Jack is; perhaps ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He then goes on to say philosophy is a double edged sword. Philosophy can both argue for god s existence but can also criticize god s existence. Mackie then goes on to say that he believes that there is a contradiction he states God is omnipotent and God is wholly good; and Yet Some evil exists. (Mackie pg. 200). Mackie believes it s a restatement of Evil is necessary as a means to good thus having the same fallacies. The final theory Mackie debunks is Evil is due to human freewill (Mackie pg.208). Mackie believes this to be the best solution and answer for evil. The idea behind this is maybe evil has no connection to god but rather human being with free will. This then raises another question why would god give free will to people if it would lead to evil thus again contradicting that god is wholly good. He says 1. Free will is good and would be worse to lack it. 2. Its impossible for god to grant someone free will and to guarantee evil will never be done. A Speech On A Quiet Summer Night Essay Introduction On a quiet summer night on June 17, 2015 a 19 year old young man, wearing a gray sweatshirt, dark jeans and Timberlands, walked into a historic, pre civil war era church. There was no lock preventing his entry. There was no security guard he had to walk by. There was only a security camera that would catch his unassuming entrance. Once inside he sat quietly as the regular attendees held a small prayer service. He was welcomed and sat with the small group as they read the word of God. The armed gunman was not concerned he would be stopped by any of those inside Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church. He was not concerned any of his victims would have a firearm that could be used against him. Why? Maybe it s because people of worship feel safe enough inside their house of worship. The process of organising a local live music event involved various procedures, personnel, strategies and considerations. This document clarifies the preparation of the launch, supported by industry resources and the development of accordance. The project was conceived seven weeks prior to the event by headlining band, The Reveurs. Band members had a preconceived idea of what they expected from the event. Due to the nature of the event, it was most appropriate to book a promoter who would manage all elements rather than paying a sizable fee to an event managementcompany. Various factors were of greater importance such as the purpose and date of the event, whilst other factors were subject to compromise.
