Political Science Class Assignment Analysis
This week has been a rather decent week leading up to a busy week before the start of reading week
later this month. With a mid term and two writing assignment due this next week, this is deffinatly
starting to get rathe busy for me. However, for the most part the assignments and midterm are not
something to concerning to me. Basically this is because thankfully, it is something that i have already
started to prepare for compared to the classic last minute essay writting or cramming. Primarily the
only issue at the moment that concerns me is ensuring to keep my personal political views seperate
from my political science class assignments. Mainly just due to the fact that as someone who beleives
in social anarchy it is without a doubt a contraversial

Jigsaw Department s Revenue And Cost Performance
COST ANALYSIS

Jigsaw Department s Revenue and Cost Performance in 2013
The increase in sales in the Jigsaw department can be primarily attributed to the market expanding by
almost 50% from 1,000,000 units per annum to 1,488,000 units per annum. Despite this increase,
Larchmont Games Jigsaw department saw an increase in sales of only 11%, leading to a drop in
market share from 20% to 15%. The department s increase in sales (from 200,000 to 223,200)
therefore appears to be more a result of being the correct market at the correct time than any
successfully planning and strategizing by the accounting team. This is also reflected in the
comparatively small increase in total revenue and a decrease in operating income. With better
accounting strategies the Jigsaw department of Larchmont Games could hope to achieve profit and
revenue gains more in line with the industry.
Larchmont Games had mixed results in the area of cost performance. On a per unit basis both
cardboard and paper were acquired at cheaper than budgeted rates but the trade off for this was a large
ending inventory of both products. This resulted in a dramatic increase in total costs incurred for these
direct materials because of the large purchasing quantities. Whether this cost can be somewhat
absorbed in financial year 2013 14 by using leftover product instead of purchasing more was not
stated, however the sprinkler incident suggests that

Reflection Of Tuesdays With Morrie
Tuesdays with Morrie, is a story of relationship between a professor and a student. They have Tuesday
discussion about life and the lessons that can be learned. Since Morrie has become ill, Mitch has
returned to better understand his generation. And the problems that he faces each day. Each Tuesday
they discuss different topics that have their own life lessons attached to them. These attachments can
be related to the chapters of the textbook. They talk about relationships with others and how to
manage certain situations in the best ways. Through this paper, I will be making connections between
Tuesdays with Morrie and the REVEL textbook. The First Tuesday: We Talk About the World, Morrie
and Mitch have a discussion about the world. Morrie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the visit Morrie writes back to letters that has been sent to him after a Nightline he was featured
on (pg.85). This is an example of Communication as Interaction from Chapter 1. These shows Morrie
interacting with those through a letter and giving feedback about their lives and situations. The Sixth
Tuesday: We Talk About Emotions, Morrie and Mitch discuss how emotions can affect your life and
how we should allow emotions to overcome us. But also be able to step away from the emotion. The
quote by Morrie, Take any emotion love for a woman, or grief for a loved one. If you hold back on the
emotions you don t allow yourself to go all the way through the them you can never get to being
detached, you re too busy being afraid (p. 103 104). This is telling that if you don t let yourself feel the
whole emotion, you won t be able to detach from the emotion. This an example of Words Create
Perceptions from Chapter 6. Which goes along the lines of Psychologist Albert Ellis, on how we
create moods and emotional states with words is how we label feelings. Another part of this Tuesday
is when they are talking about is how he wants to feel when he dies. Morrie says, I want to die
serenely. Peacefully. Not like what I just happened. This is my moment. I don t want to leave the
world in a state of fright. I want to know what s happening, accept it, get to a peaceful place, and let
go. Do you understand? I

Howl By Allen Ginsberg Critical Analysis
Poetry may be defined in many ways: for different people arising from different backgrounds, (levels
of education, beliefs, culture, and family), poetry may be viewed in many perspectives that suit their
familiarity of understanding. For T.S. Eliot, poetry is an art which is controlled to go beyond reporting
feelings of moments, into something extended. The extended feeling, that now has meaning beyond
just an expression for emotion, is then able to live for itself, separate from its creator. Hence, poetry
becomes an escape from emotion and personality as the personality that it derives from gives birth to
something independent. Eliot is right to define poetry as something representing an extended feeling,
as the beauty of poetry is to convey meaning from something unpoetic such as pure madness;
however, he failed to include that to give meaning an independence, to a feeling is to incorporate the
poet s psychology. It takes a poet s intelligence to be able to transfer the unexplainable to something
understood by others. A poem is not just a medium of escape, it is an extension of the poet s psyche as
their experiences and knowledge of their world is what helps them craft and define the shape of their
work.
Howl, by Allen Ginsberg is an example of how a turning loose of emotion becomes not just an escape
of emotion, but an expression for his critiques against the American Society in the 1950 s. Throughout
the collection of poems, the minimal use of poetic conventions

Ben Shahn s The Passion Of Sacco And Vanzetti
Ben Shahn s painting The Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti highlights the discrimination immigrant
groups, as outsiders, face in many aspects of the American experience, particularly that before the
justice system. Shahn effectively argues that the American systems, as a result of prejudice and
hostility towards immigrants, can be incredibly unjust and abusive. He does so through his specific
use of colors, the symbolism of the figures he chose to use, and the framing of his painting. The
Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti is made with tempera and gouache on canvas mounted on composition
board. It was painted by social realist Ben Shahn in the years of 1931 and 1932 as a criticism of the
infamous American Sacco and Vanzetti case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apparently, it took the judge, who stands at the window of the courthouse, hypocritically holding up
his right hand in a sign of honesty, three hours to deem guilty the accused. Honorable they may have
been, but when facing what they view as a crisis, those in power will generally do what they deem
necessary to protect an established order in which they occupy positions of privilege (33). It can be
seen in the faces of the men that though they are in honorable positions of power, their ideas about
justice and fairness were quickly distorted. Shahn painted the men with bored looking and cold faces.
Even the smaller details of the painting hold great importance. Frame of the painting and the scale of
the figures implies something: the person viewing the scene depicted in the painting is doing so
intimately, from a close range, as if invited to the funeral: the viewer is a bystander like the three men
who convicted Sacco and Vanzetti. For example, even now the response of many majority Americans
has been to support measures that place large portions of the immigrant populations under suspicion
and state surveillance (35). Shahn is trying to say that everyone, America as a whole and Americans,
watched on as Sacco and Vanzetti were killed and did nothing. Like no one helped

Technology Is Eroding All Of Humanity
Over Use of Technology? How technology is eroding all of humanity.
Many people believe technology to be advancing humanity s capabilities, in reality, although there are
some advantages, it has many negative effects on society, and therefore the amount of technology used
should be reduced to ensure the continuing existence of mankind. People of all ages from young
children to adults use technology on a daily basis to learn and do things which were once done
manually. People are slowly losing the ability to do simple actions such as writing a letter or spelling
simple words. There is also an increasing number of health issues found to be the result of excessive
technology usage. To decrease the amount of social and medical conditions in today s society the
technology usage should be decreased and used more safely.
Although the amount of technology used should be reduced it is still a very useful utility and should
not be completely stopped. The development of new technologies, such as mobile phones, Facebook,
email, Skype and FaceTime, have made it easier for people to communicate with other people at any
time anywhere in the world. By developing new technology, society is able to quickly send/receive
messages. For example if you want to give a message to a friend or relative you can just ring, text or
email them, whereas before you would have to hand write a message which would then be hand
delivered.
Technology can also be useful when wanting to find out

Industry Definition. Before Conducting An Industry Analysis,
Industry Definition
Before conducting an industry analysis, it is necessary to define the industries that Linde and Praxair
are competing in. While both companies are generally known as industrial gas companies, this
description offers little insight into the product offerings of each company and the differences between
the two companies. The first industry both companies compete in is industrial gas production; each
company produces hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and many other gases with industrial use cases.
However, both Praxair and Linde also serve consumers directly with some products, including oxygen
tanks for breathing or welding. In fact, Praxair has two retail locations in Kingston. This customer
facing portion of the business has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, even capital investment alone is not sufficient, as specialized technical expertise is required to
be successful in this industry. New entrants may find it difficult to attract top talent from a larger, more
established firm. Finally, the regulatory burdens imposed on this industry make compliance relatively
more expensive for new entrants. As a result, little attention is paid to new entrants in this industry, as
firms focus instead on rivalry among existing firms.
Threat of Substitutes
The threat of substitutes in industrial gases is moderately low, but is highly dependent to the specific
product. For example, hydrogen is often used in petroleum refining to remove sulfur. More recently,
however, researchers have found a way to use oxygen and ionic salts to remove sulfur more
efficiently, eliminating the need for hydrogen. In contrast, liquid nitrogen, often used to clean sensitive
equipment, has no practical substitutes, as it quickly eliminates all bacteria and other contaminants
due to its extremely cold temperature. Finally, oxygen, often used for medical purposes, has no
available substitutes due to human biology. Overall, while new technologies are creating opportunities
for new substitutes, most products that exist in this industry will never has practical substitutes.
Bargaining Power of Customers
The bargaining power of customers in this industry is moderate.

Summary Of La Belle Dame Sans Merci
Deceived
In John Keats La Belle Dame sans Merci, the speaker express his love for this fairy woman where he
explains, I met a lady in the meads, Full beautiful a faery s child, (13,14). But he was Lured (33), to
sleep with the woman who he thought once loved him and as she said, I love the true (28). Why then if
she love thee does he feel the darkness of horrid warning gapĂšd ? Was it all just a dream? Or reality?
Firstly, the speaker as I assume is a man because he is talking about a lady he met which he called her
a faery s child, (14). As he said in the poem he was, Alone and palely loitering (Keats, 2), That certain
stanza made me pictured a man alone with no sense of direction no sense of love. Lonesome. But they
never went into much detail on what he was doing or where he came from. Moving on, just from a
few lines into the poem the speaker s tone was coming off as melancholy. I got the melancholy tone
because the speaker seemed very sad and gloomy with phrases as, O what can ail thee (1) almost
sound like a cry for help or just a cry out of last hope. He then goes on to say I met a lady in the
meads, ( 13 ), as stated previously but, this is when the poem turns from melancholy and alone to
happy and almost hopeful.
Continuing on, in this poem the speaker became infatuated with this lady. As he said, I made a garland
for her head, And bracelets too, and fragrant zone; (17,18 ) he begins to fall for her and starts to be
very taken with her

The New Jersey State Department Of Education
The New Jersey State Department of Education received government, state, and local funding for
youths ages 5 17, as part of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program. The question is;
how can the states revise and disperse the amount of funding allocated for after school programs for
the current number of children enrolled? How can we raise awareness about the higher enrollment
after school programs offered for children of all ages? The current data shows the ratio of children
enrolled versus the number of children not enrolled, offset the amount of dispersed funds, and varies
state to state. The New Jersey Department of education allocates the funded money towards after
school programs housed at public schools with a high enrollment rate while other states do not. This
leaves a huge gap in society with not enough funds creatively used towards youth programs. Children
of all ages should have access to an after school educational program and support from within their
community. Common motivational goals set forth in the evaluation for this program are, for children
to receive the enhancement of moral values, equality, and diversity through after school educational
programs within their local school districts. This evaluation is based on the logic model format and
designed to meet the needs and demands assessment criteria. Weighing the outcome of an economical

One of the main perpetrators of the Dab comes not from the dancing scene but from the world of

representation of the Dab as the Carolina Panthers rode an almost perfect season only falling short in
the 2016 Superbowl. To them, the Dab originally symbolized their success as a team throughout the
season and eventually their humiliation to the Denver Broncos following their defeat in the Super

Persuasive Fishing Outline
Introduction
With fishing industries advancing dramatically, fishing gear now consists of equipment such as large
nets and hooks to capture aquatic species at a much faster rate. But with such a large amount of fish
being captured daily and many more being thrown away, we are reducing food supply.
Thesis Statement: Advance in technology and fishing methods have made it easier to catch large
amounts of fish in a short amount of time; resulting in endangering fish species, reduce reproduction
rate, harm fish habitats, and reduce food supply for the future. II. Background Paragraph
For centuries we have relied on fishing as a means for food. Over the years we have developed new
methods of fishing and have enhanced our equipment to capture vast amounts of fish in a minimum
amount of time. We now have industrial fishing companies that provide for our seafood demand. As
we continue to capture large amounts of fish we begin to shorten supply for the future, reduce
reproduction rates, disrupt food chains, harm habitats, and drive species to extinction.
III. Paragraph I
Overfishing has been a major threat to ocean inhabitants. Fishing industries use harsh methods to fish
that unintentionally harm habitats or catch and kill fish that are untargeted. ... Show more content on

ABSTRACT
In the grid new renewable resources are added to extract more power. This adds more power quality
issues to grid connection. A Power quality problem is an occurrence manifested as a nonstandard
voltage, current or frequency that results in a failure or a mis operation of end user equipment. This
paper investigates the use of a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is connected at a point of
common coupling with Battery Energy Storage System(BESS)to overcome of a power quality issues
of a wind farm equipped with variable speed wind turbines driving Double Fed Induction Generators
(DFIG). A physical control scheme, including four control loops: ac voltage, dc voltage, ac active
current and ac reactive current controllers, is pre specified for the STATCOM. A synthetic algorithm is
proposed to embed these physical control loops in the output feedback path. The simulation results
demonstrated that under various system disturbances, the proposed mode decoupling STATCOM is
effective in regulating IG terminal voltage.

Gambling In Texas Essay
p In 1995, Texas proposed a referendum for the legalization of casino gambling.
However, perhaps due to Texas extreme conservatism, many Texans opposed the idea. Since then,
other states have joined Nevada to allow unlimited gambling in their state. From record economic
growth to billions of revenue dollars for state expenditures, these states continue to reap from their
bold decision while Texas remains watching from the sidelines. Rather than enjoying the same profits
as its fellow states, Texas has found it hard to meet its state budget year after year. Instead of taking
the road well traveled increasing taxes, Texas should take a page from the success stories of these
states and legalize casino gambling as a legitimate way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this reason, when the state needs more money, it has to raise sales tax or cut department spending.
For example, in 1984 the sale tax was 4.25 percent, but only six years later it rose to 6.25 percent.
Furthermore, cities, counties, transit authorities, and other taxing agents may levy a sales tax up to an
additional 2% combined, for a total maximum sales tax of 8.25 percent (Lavine 11).
Despite the elevating taxes, many people argue that Texas has a very low combined state and local tax
burden. This is only true at the state level, but at the local level Texas has a very high tax burden 9th in
sales tax per capita and 15th in property tax per capita (Lavine 15). The state managed to portray this
image only because Texas pushes funding obligations down to the local level, such as public
education. For this reason, cities such as Houston must implement high property taxes to ensure
adequate funding for police enforcement, public transportation, and education. Because of the
tremendous shortfall this year, the city of Houston resorted to layoff teachers and security personnel to
meet budget requirements. Therefore, instead of continued tax hikes or sacrificing much needed state
services, why not allow for casino gambling as an alternative source of revenue for the state? The
direct economic impact of casino gambling is clear by looking at our neighboring states.
Despite the economic impact of casino gambling, debates exist over

Free Market Economy Essay
A free market is a type of market that the government is not involved in. Since the government does
not care about what happens, the free market is also called hands off or let it be economics . The
government is limited to protect the citizens from the danger and that is the major goal for the
government. In the free market economy, there are three components of the free market economy:
competition, active but limited government, and the self interest. Competition is one of the main
components of the free market economy. Competition means that the companies compete with one
another to make more benefits to themselves. According to the concept of the free market economy,

The government does not necessarily need to intervene how the marker goes. Therefore, the
competition is a significant factor of the free marker economy.Active but limited government is
another main part of the free market economy. This means that the government undertakes a
significant, active role in the market, but at the same time the government s role is ver limited because
all the investments and decisions in the economy are controlled by the market than by the government.
An invisible hand will control the market. Limited government is a type of government in which there
is a minimum intervention in personal properties. Overall, the government tries to keep the economy
in a law and let it free by limiting itself. Hence, the limited government is an essential factor of the
free market economy.Last, self interest is a significant part of the free market economy. Self interest
refers to one s desire to buy something. The market will be generally controlled by people s interest;
the companies will compete with one another to fit the best taste. This is because the people s interest
will be the main trend in the market and it will control what should be made in the market.
Consequently, the market will be self regulated according to the theory of a free market. Therefore, the
self interest is another significant factor of the free market economy. Therefore, the competition, the

Yellowstone is the worlds first national park. It was origanally home to Native Americans who lived in
the Yellowstone area for at least 11,000 years. The U.S. Army was first commissioned to oversee the
park just after its establishment in late 1960. In 1917, administration of the park was transferred to the
National Park Service. Yellowstone National Park spans an area of 3,468.4 square miles (8,983 km2),

volcano is very active volcanic system which requires much observation. The geysers, mudd pots,
hotsprings and steam vents are all examples of the heat from molten rock of a volcano. For many
years the Yellowstone volcano could not be located. There is not obvious signs of a volcano, but
scientists looked for other clues. Rhyolite is present in a location that has pinetress and many
mosquitoes can be found due to the lakes that have formed. Rhyolite is a very violent eruption, due to
the high silica content, it flows slowly, like honey, and tends to pile up and form lava

Analysis Of Flight By Sherman Alexie
Throughout the novel Flight by Sherman Alexie, the main character Zits gradually changed his
thoughts about survival and killing one another. He has learned different lessons from each body that
he s gotten into, and every lessons mattered to his changes. Every individuals that he had occupied the
body, he d gained the advantages to solve the situation in his own way. Indeed he couldn t control
fully the people s mind and actions, but he eventually could fight them to find back the memory.
At the beginning of the book, he was ashamed of himself of being fifteen years old. And being tall.
And skinny. And ugly (Flight 4). He could not change the fact that he was half Irish and half Indian,
and maybe those characteristics came from his parents, or just his dad. He had serious acne problems
because everywhere on his body, pimples were scattered and ruining his looks. He d been observing
from television regularly whenever he had a chance, but who knows that he could remember all of the
information that it gave, and described things in such a detail oriented and precise manner. The way he
spoke was professional, but sometimes, he was talking as if he was uneducated and abusive toward his
listeners, like the way he talked to the social worker.
Zits seemed preferring to run away, just like his father. And that was what he always did when he lived
with his 13 different foster families. In the latest family, he was too stubborn to say good morning to
his foster parents, and even

Cubism In Pablo Picasso s Les Demoiselles DAvignon
Pablo Picasso s painting, Les Demoiselles D avignon uses the elements of color, line, and shape to
make the statement: Of young women in avignon. Picasso spent nine months painting Les
Demoiselles D avignon, this paintings one of his most famous examples of cubism. Picasso proved to
exist as one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century. He also joined an artist
production that he spiritually believed would keep him alive. Picasso spent 80 out of his 91 years of
living devoted to this group. While devoted to this group, he painted Les demoiselles d avignon . The
painting consists of five prostitutes that stood on the street corner named Avignon, the red light district
of Barcelona, a street that Picasso would frequently visit. The females in this painting fill the entire
space, and they almost look as if they could be trapped. I believe that picasso made these women fill
the space completely, attempting to symbolize the fact that the women were trapped in a lifestyle that
they did not want to exist in.
Picasso, much like the women of avignon, did not enjoy life during the time of this painting. Every
painting Picasso did encouraged him to make it better than the previous, which I believe he truly
captured all of that inside this painting. Picasso used colors to express the emotions he experienced
during this period of time. He mainly used red, blue, white, and black. Picasso tried to keep the paint
color as accurate to skin tone as he could

Section B 1. Conduct industry analysis of the business selected using Porter s five forces model
Introduction to Porter s five forces. Michael Porter s five forces model is in light of the comprehension
that a corporate philosophy should meet the opportunities and dangers in the affiliation s external
surroundings. Especially, forceful strategy should base on a cognizance of industry structures and the
way they change. The Porter s Five Forces model is an outside looking in forte unit technique
contraption that is used to make an examination of the captivating quality or estimation of an industry
structure. The Competitive Forces examination is made by the ID of 5 noteworthy centered forces:
The section of contenders (how straightforward or troublesome is it for new members to start to fight,
which limits do exist) The danger of substitutes (how straightforward can our thing or organization be
substituted, especially less costly) The wrangling power of buyers (how strong is the position of
buyers, would they have the capacity to collaborate to demand tremendous volumes) The Original
Porter s Five Forces (Factors) for contender preference and upper hand: Michael Porter s Factor 1)

cut throat competition there will be. Variables that can control the peril of new members are known as
limits to passage. A couple of cases include:  Existing endurance to

The Representation Of Villains In Disney s Film, Big Hero
Just looking at it, Disney s film Big Hero 6 is another representation of superheroes vs. mad scientist
villains. A 14 year old prodigy named Hiro teams up with a group of friends from his nerd school to
take down a villain. This movie has an amazing script and an even better voice cast. It sounds and
looks fantastic, Disney s new technologies helped the movie achieve its creative quality. But even
though this movie is different. We all have heard this same story before. This film takes the typical
story line of a superheroes tale and mixes in creative themes that go against the typical assumptions of
the genre. This film shows us how it is a better choice to choose non violence over violence, how even
the ones who have hurt us so bad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hiro finds a way to override Baymax programming which then turns Baymax to a crime fighting
killing machine. In one of the most emotional scenes of the film, Baymax becomes the instrument of
revenge that Hiro wanted him to be. Baymax was meant to heal and mend people. He then later
learned to fight, but that is not who Tadashi created him to be. This movie argues that violence is not
something natural but rather a learned behavior, we must be reprogrammed to accept it. The rest of the
film reinforces the idea of the characters to find ways to stop the villain without using violence. The
best of the villains are the ones who believe that what they are doing is a just cause. In Big Hero 6 ,
the masked man s motive for having stolen Hiro s microbots is understandable: he needs them to save
a life. Nevertheless revenge is not justice, despite the villains deeper motives he is still a bad man. But
the villain s backstory and motives pull at our heartstrings and it is indeed hard not to have empathy
for him. By creating a villain whose intentions were nothing more than misguided grief, the film
teaches the audience a valuable lesson about

English 11; Period 2
May 3, 2017 Their Eyes Were Watching God In this story, I have found that the themes that have stood
out to me is gender and love. These themes have captured a major thematic idea by gender being
discriminated against the women and the men. Gender is described as women being weaker than the
men and men being the powerful ones. Love is described in this story as independent until it is found.
Finding love is a part of life and everybody tries to find it but when it is found, it seems like you have
lived you life to the fullest. These examples of the themes can be brought into the real world and can
affect how people live their lives.
My first theme is going to be about gender. In the novel, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gender can happen in the real world which can lead to personal experiences. I have experienced some
gender inequality throughout my life and have had family situations since I have been alive. For
instance, my parents lived in a time where men went to work and the women had to clean, cook, and
stuff around the house. I have experienced some problems myself by my brother and I having to do
outside yard work while my sister only does inside work. She claims that yard work is for men and it s
a man s job. . What I have to say about that is that men and women don t need to do work based off if
it is a man or woman s job, work is work and you shouldn t base it off gender inequality. Another
situation I was faced with was when my mom was trying to get a job, she was trying to get a job at
selling Tupperware. She was faced with you can t sell Tupperware because you are a woman and
people don t buy stuff off of women. . She sticked with her gut and went for it, now she is very
successful in her business and doesn t let what a guy said to her stop her.
Another theme I chose from the story was love. Love can be a powerful thing or a devastating thing.
For example, After that she came to where Joe Starks was waiting for her with a hired rig. He was
very solemn and helped her to the seat beside him. With him on it, it sat like some high, ruling chair.
From now on until death she

Chicken George Research Paper
Chicken George and his family had lived on the plantation their entire life, and just like every other

and they were free. In their minds they thought; no more working on a plantation for racist, egotistical
white folk. They could finally live the life they have been dreaming of before they were even born.
One of their ancestors, Kunta Kinte, had passed on the remembrance of Africa from when he was a
child before he was captured by the slave hunters and brought to America. Now that they were free
they had this hope to start a new life but there was still people in the county that believed they should

Crohn s Disease And Ulcerative Colitis Case Study
Crohn s disease and Ulcerative Colitis belong to the same disease category, inflammatory bowel
disease. Both of the diseases share many of the alike symptoms. However, there are some essential
differences. Ulcerative Colitis is limited to the big intestine (colon) and also the rectum. Inflammation
takes place just on the surface layer of the intestinal lining. Normally, it begins in the rectum and then,
in a constant way it expands up the colon.
The benefit of medical management of Ulcerative Colitis is that it offers the option of avoiding
surgery in most patients. Even though colectomy is possibly curative in several patients and
significantly decreases the dangers of colon cancer, the surgery normally does comprise of several
complications especially with patients who have restorative proctocolectomy with ileal pouch anal

  • 2. Political Science Class Assignment Analysis This week has been a rather decent week leading up to a busy week before the start of reading week later this month. With a mid term and two writing assignment due this next week, this is deffinatly starting to get rathe busy for me. However, for the most part the assignments and midterm are not something to concerning to me. Basically this is because thankfully, it is something that i have already started to prepare for compared to the classic last minute essay writting or cramming. Primarily the only issue at the moment that concerns me is ensuring to keep my personal political views seperate from my political science class assignments. • 3. Jigsaw Department s Revenue And Cost Performance COST ANALYSIS Jasvinder Sidhu Wednesday 5:30pm Evaluations Jigsaw Department s Revenue and Cost Performance in 2013 The increase in sales in the Jigsaw department can be primarily attributed to the market expanding by almost 50% from 1,000,000 units per annum to 1,488,000 units per annum. Despite this increase, Larchmont Games Jigsaw department saw an increase in sales of only 11%, leading to a drop in market share from 20% to 15%. The department s increase in sales (from 200,000 to 223,200) therefore appears to be more a result of being the correct market at the correct time than any successfully planning and strategizing by the accounting team. This is also reflected in the comparatively small increase in total revenue and a decrease in operating income. With better accounting strategies the Jigsaw department of Larchmont Games could hope to achieve profit and revenue gains more in line with the industry. Larchmont Games had mixed results in the area of cost performance. On a per unit basis both cardboard and paper were acquired at cheaper than budgeted rates but the trade off for this was a large ending inventory of both products. This resulted in a dramatic increase in total costs incurred for these direct materials because of the large purchasing quantities. Whether this cost can be somewhat absorbed in financial year 2013 14 by using leftover product instead of purchasing more was not stated, however the sprinkler incident suggests that ... • 4. Reflection Of Tuesdays With Morrie Tuesdays with Morrie, is a story of relationship between a professor and a student. They have Tuesday discussion about life and the lessons that can be learned. Since Morrie has become ill, Mitch has returned to better understand his generation. And the problems that he faces each day. Each Tuesday they discuss different topics that have their own life lessons attached to them. These attachments can be related to the chapters of the textbook. They talk about relationships with others and how to manage certain situations in the best ways. Through this paper, I will be making connections between Tuesdays with Morrie and the REVEL textbook. The First Tuesday: We Talk About the World, Morrie and Mitch have a discussion about the world. This is an example of Communication as Interaction from Chapter 1. These shows Morrie interacting with those through a letter and giving feedback about their lives and situations. The Sixth Tuesday: We Talk About Emotions, Morrie and Mitch discuss how emotions can affect your life and how we should allow emotions to overcome us. But also be able to step away from the emotion. The quote by Morrie, Take any emotion love for a woman, or grief for a loved one. If you hold back on the emotions you don t allow yourself to go all the way through the them you can never get to being detached, you re too busy being afraid (p. 103 104). This is telling that if you don t let yourself feel the whole emotion, you won t be able to detach from the emotion. This an example of Words Create Perceptions from Chapter 6. Which goes along the lines of Psychologist Albert Ellis, on how we create moods and emotional states with words is how we label feelings. Another part of this Tuesday is when they are talking about is how he wants to feel when he dies. Morrie says, I want to die serenely. Peacefully. Not like what I just happened. This is my moment. I don t want to leave the world in a state of fright. I want to know what s happening, accept it, get to a peaceful place, and let go. Do you understand? I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Howl By Allen Ginsberg Critical Analysis Poetry may be defined in many ways: for different people arising from different backgrounds, (levels of education, beliefs, culture, and family), poetry may be viewed in many perspectives that suit their familiarity of understanding. For T.S. Eliot, poetry is an art which is controlled to go beyond reporting feelings of moments, into something extended. The extended feeling, that now has meaning beyond just an expression for emotion, is then able to live for itself, separate from its creator. Hence, poetry becomes an escape from emotion and personality as the personality that it derives from gives birth to something independent. Eliot is right to define poetry as something representing an extended feeling, as the beauty of poetry is to convey meaning from something unpoetic such as pure madness; however, he failed to include that to give meaning an independence, to a feeling is to incorporate the poet s psychology. It takes a poet s intelligence to be able to transfer the unexplainable to something understood by others. A poem is not just a medium of escape, it is an extension of the poet s psyche as their experiences and knowledge of their world is what helps them craft and define the shape of their work. Howl, by Allen Ginsberg is an example of how a turning loose of emotion becomes not just an escape of emotion, but an expression for his critiques against the American Society in the 1950 s. Throughout the collection of poems, the minimal use of poetic conventions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Ben Shahn s The Passion Of Sacco And Vanzetti Ben Shahn s painting The Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti highlights the discrimination immigrant groups, as outsiders, face in many aspects of the American experience, particularly that before the justice system. Shahn effectively argues that the American systems, as a result of prejudice and hostility towards immigrants, can be incredibly unjust and abusive. He does so through his specific use of colors, the symbolism of the figures he chose to use, and the framing of his painting. The Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti is made with tempera and gouache on canvas mounted on composition board. It was painted by social realist Ben Shahn in the years of 1931 and 1932 as a criticism of the infamous American Sacco and Vanzetti case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apparently, it took the judge, who stands at the window of the courthouse, hypocritically holding up his right hand in a sign of honesty, three hours to deem guilty the accused. Honorable they may have been, but when facing what they view as a crisis, those in power will generally do what they deem necessary to protect an established order in which they occupy positions of privilege (33). It can be seen in the faces of the men that though they are in honorable positions of power, their ideas about justice and fairness were quickly distorted. Shahn painted the men with bored looking and cold faces. Even the smaller details of the painting hold great importance. Frame of the painting and the scale of the figures implies something: the person viewing the scene depicted in the painting is doing so intimately, from a close range, as if invited to the funeral: the viewer is a bystander like the three men who convicted Sacco and Vanzetti. For example, even now the response of many majority Americans has been to support measures that place large portions of the immigrant populations under suspicion and state surveillance (35). Shahn is trying to say that everyone, America as a whole and Americans, watched on as Sacco and Vanzetti were killed and did nothing. Like no one helped ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Technology Is Eroding All Of Humanity Over Use of Technology? How technology is eroding all of humanity. Many people believe technology to be advancing humanity s capabilities, in reality, although there are some advantages, it has many negative effects on society, and therefore the amount of technology used should be reduced to ensure the continuing existence of mankind. People of all ages from young children to adults use technology on a daily basis to learn and do things which were once done manually. People are slowly losing the ability to do simple actions such as writing a letter or spelling simple words. There is also an increasing number of health issues found to be the result of excessive technology usage. To decrease the amount of social and medical conditions in today s society the technology usage should be decreased and used more safely. Although the amount of technology used should be reduced it is still a very useful utility and should not be completely stopped. The development of new technologies, such as mobile phones, Facebook, email, Skype and FaceTime, have made it easier for people to communicate with other people at any time anywhere in the world. By developing new technology, society is able to quickly send/receive messages. For example if you want to give a message to a friend or relative you can just ring, text or email them, whereas before you would have to hand write a message which would then be hand delivered. Before Conducting An Industry Analysis, Industry Definition Before conducting an industry analysis, it is necessary to define the industries that Linde and Praxair are competing in. While both companies are generally known as industrial gas companies, this description offers little insight into the product offerings of each company and the differences between the two companies. The first industry both companies compete in is industrial gas production; each company produces hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and many other gases with industrial use cases. Further, even capital investment alone is not sufficient, as specialized technical expertise is required to be successful in this industry. New entrants may find it difficult to attract top talent from a larger, more established firm. Finally, the regulatory burdens imposed on this industry make compliance relatively more expensive for new entrants. As a result, little attention is paid to new entrants in this industry, as firms focus instead on rivalry among existing firms. Threat of Substitutes The threat of substitutes in industrial gases is moderately low, but is highly dependent to the specific product. For example, hydrogen is often used in petroleum refining to remove sulfur. More recently, however, researchers have found a way to use oxygen and ionic salts to remove sulfur more efficiently, eliminating the need for hydrogen. In contrast, liquid nitrogen, often used to clean sensitive equipment, has no practical substitutes, as it quickly eliminates all bacteria and other contaminants due to its extremely cold temperature. Finally, oxygen, often used for medical purposes, has no available substitutes due to human biology. Overall, while new technologies are creating opportunities for new substitutes, most products that exist in this industry will never has practical substitutes. Summary Of La Belle Dame Sans Merci Deceived In John Keats La Belle Dame sans Merci, the speaker express his love for this fairy woman where he explains, I met a lady in the meads, Full beautiful a faery s child, (13,14). But he was Lured (33), to sleep with the woman who he thought once loved him and as she said, I love the true (28). Why then if she love thee does he feel the darkness of horrid warning gapĂšd ? Was it all just a dream? Or reality? Firstly, the speaker as I assume is a man because he is talking about a lady he met which he called her a faery s child, (14). As he said in the poem he was, Alone and palely loitering (Keats, 2), That certain stanza made me pictured a man alone with no sense of direction no sense of love. Lonesome. But they never went into much detail on what he was doing or where he came from. Moving on, just from a few lines into the poem the speaker s tone was coming off as melancholy. I got the melancholy tone because the speaker seemed very sad and gloomy with phrases as, O what can ail thee (1) almost sound like a cry for help or just a cry out of last hope. He then goes on to say I met a lady in the meads, ( 13 ), as stated previously but, this is when the poem turns from melancholy and alone to happy and almost hopeful. Continuing on, in this poem the speaker became infatuated with this lady. As he said, I made a garland for her head, And bracelets too, and fragrant zone; (17,18 ) he begins to fall for her and starts to be very taken with her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The New Jersey State Department Of Education The New Jersey State Department of Education received government, state, and local funding for youths ages 5 17, as part of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program. The question is; how can the states revise and disperse the amount of funding allocated for after school programs for the current number of children enrolled? How can we raise awareness about the higher enrollment after school programs offered for children of all ages? The current data shows the ratio of children enrolled versus the number of children not enrolled, offset the amount of dispersed funds, and varies state to state. The New Jersey Department of education allocates the funded money towards after school programs housed at public schools with a high enrollment rate while other states do not. This leaves a huge gap in society with not enough funds creatively used towards youth programs. Children of all ages should have access to an after school educational program and support from within their community. Common motivational goals set forth in the evaluation for this program are, for children to receive the enhancement of moral values, equality, and diversity through after school educational programs within their local school districts. But with such a large amount of fish being captured daily and many more being thrown away, we are reducing food supply. Thesis Statement: Advance in technology and fishing methods have made it easier to catch large amounts of fish in a short amount of time; resulting in endangering fish species, reduce reproduction rate, harm fish habitats, and reduce food supply for the future. Over the years we have developed new methods of fishing and have enhanced our equipment to capture vast amounts of fish in a minimum amount of time. We now have industrial fishing companies that provide for our seafood demand. • 21. Attending A Narcotics Anonymous ( Na ) Group Purpose The group that I attended was a Narcotics Anonymous (NA). The meeting was held at the VA, every Monday at 6pm. The meeting was free and open to the public. The meeting lasted for 1 hour. There was a time limit. As we approached the end of the hour the leader announced it and said that if there were any last thoughts before the meeting ended. This gave me the impression that they stick to their time limit. The meeting had a structure; they followed their agenda strictly. In the beginning of the meeting everyone went around and introduced them selves and said why there were there. I said that I was a student and was there to observe. After the introductions there was several readings that were handed out and asked to be read aloud, some of the reading were Why are we Here , Who is an Addict? , and We do Recover . After the readings they handed out key chains to anyone that has reached a specific time of sobriety. The leader of the group got his 9 mouths key chain. Then there were a few more readings, after the reading the floor was open to anyone who wanted to say anything. Then the meeting was over. Membership The Monday that I chose to attend had a low membership for that day. There was only the leader and 1 other member that day. The Leader was a Caucasian male about 40 years of age. The member was a Caucasian male about 60 years of age. The group was open, but to fully participate in the group the member would be a recovering from addiction, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Novel Modeling Design of STATCOM with Controllable grid connected Variable Speed Wind Energy Supply System Mohammad Arshad Ali P.G Scholar,Dept of Electrical and Electronics Engineering SRKR Engineering College Bhimavaram, India. Arshad6786@gmail.com ABSTRACT In the grid new renewable resources are added to extract more power. This adds more power quality issues to grid connection. A Power quality problem is an occurrence manifested as a nonstandard voltage, current or frequency that results in a failure or a mis operation of end user equipment. This paper investigates the use of a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is connected at a point of common coupling with Battery Energy Storage System(BESS)to overcome of a power quality issues of a wind farm equipped with variable speed wind turbines driving Double Fed Induction Generators (DFIG). A physical control scheme, including four control loops: ac voltage, dc voltage, ac active current and ac reactive current controllers, is pre specified for the STATCOM. A synthetic algorithm is proposed to embed these physical control loops in the output feedback path. The simulation results demonstrated that under various system disturbances, the proposed mode decoupling STATCOM is effective in regulating IG terminal voltage. Since then, other states have joined Nevada to allow unlimited gambling in their state. From record economic growth to billions of revenue dollars for state expenditures, these states continue to reap from their bold decision while Texas remains watching from the sidelines. Rather than enjoying the same profits as its fellow states, Texas has found it hard to meet its state budget year after year. Instead of taking the road well traveled increasing taxes, Texas should take a page from the success stories of these states and legalize casino gambling as a legitimate way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this reason, when the state needs more money, it has to raise sales tax or cut department spending. For example, in 1984 the sale tax was 4.25 percent, but only six years later it rose to 6.25 percent. Furthermore, cities, counties, transit authorities, and other taxing agents may levy a sales tax up to an additional 2% combined, for a total maximum sales tax of 8.25 percent (Lavine 11). Despite the elevating taxes, many people argue that Texas has a very low combined state and local tax burden. This is only true at the state level, but at the local level Texas has a very high tax burden 9th in sales tax per capita and 15th in property tax per capita (Lavine 15). The state managed to portray this image only because Texas pushes funding obligations down to the local level, such as public education. For this reason, cities such as Houston must implement high property taxes to ensure adequate funding for police enforcement, public transportation, and education. Because of the tremendous shortfall this year, the city of Houston resorted to layoff teachers and security personnel to meet budget requirements. Therefore, instead of continued tax hikes or sacrificing much needed state services, why not allow for casino gambling as an alternative source of revenue for the state? The direct economic impact of casino gambling is clear by looking at our neighboring states. Despite the economic impact of casino gambling, debates exist over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The painting consists of five prostitutes that stood on the street corner named Avignon, the red light district of Barcelona, a street that Picasso would frequently visit. The females in this painting fill the entire space, and they almost look as if they could be trapped. I believe that picasso made these women fill the space completely, attempting to symbolize the fact that the women were trapped in a lifestyle that they did not want to exist in. Picasso, much like the women of avignon, did not enjoy life during the time of this painting. Every painting Picasso did encouraged him to make it better than the previous, which I believe he truly captured all of that inside this painting. This movie argues that violence is not something natural but rather a learned behavior, we must be reprogrammed to accept it. The rest of the film reinforces the idea of the characters to find ways to stop the villain without using violence. The best of the villains are the ones who believe that what they are doing is a just cause. In Big Hero 6 , the masked man s motive for having stolen Hiro s microbots is understandable: he needs them to save a life. Love is described in this story as independent until it is found. Finding love is a part of life and everybody tries to find it but when it is found, it seems like you have lived you life to the fullest. I have experienced some problems myself by my brother and I having to do outside yard work while my sister only does inside work. She claims that yard work is for men and it s a man s job. . What I have to say about that is that men and women don t need to do work based off if it is a man or woman s job, work is work and you shouldn t base it off gender inequality.
