RFID technology is proposed to automate the shopping cart and billing process in malls. The current barcode system requires line of sight scanning and is slow. The proposed system uses RFID tags embedded in products that can be automatically read by an RFID reader in the cart from a distance. As shoppers add items to their cart, the tags are read and the items and running total are displayed. This allows for a more efficient checkout where the total is already known without additional scanning. The system architecture uses an RFID reader, microcontroller, Zigbee for wireless communication, and an LCD for display. Benefits include simplified billing, increased speed, and an improved overall shopping experience.

Shopping and automatic billing using rfid technologyIAEME Publication
Nowadays, large grocery stores are used by millions of people for the acquisition of products.
Barcode scanners are a time consuming process engaging the customers to stick to the billing section
for a long time. Hence there is a need for an innovative product with the societal acceptance that aids
the convenience, comfort and efficiency in everyday life.
In this paper, an architecture is presented which blends Radio frequency identification
(RFID) and wireless technology to provide ‘on spot’ billing in super markets. It uses the RFID based
system application in the shopping trolley and the RFID card which is used as a security access for
the product. The Liquid crystal display (LCD) that is fixed to the trolley displays the product name,
cost and the total cost of all purchased products. The bill is transmitted to the server end through the
zigbee technology. The software simulation is done using Proteus software and hardware is
implemented using 18F46K22 microcontroller. This promotes quick shopping and immediate pay
without any queuing process. It reduces labour efforts and increases efficiency by minimizing errors
Purchasing and shopping at big malls is becoming daily activity in metro cities. People purchase different item and put them trolley. After completion of purchases, one needs to go to billing counter for payments. At billing counter the cashier prepare the bill with the help of bar code reader which is very time consuming process and results in long queue at billing counter. In this proposed system, we have to implement the automatic goods carrier navigation and the billing system in the shopping malls. The structure of the goods carrier consists of the robotic structure and RFID reader, which is used to navigate the robotic goods carrier along the particular way. The keypad is used to give the commands to the controller for where the robotic carrier has to move on. And also it has the product code reader inbuilt. The use of product code reader is to read the bar codes of all products to define the prices of the products. Depend on the signal from the reader, the controller display the price of the each product by using the LCD display .The wireless billing system is made up of the ZigBee communication module.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!

The family offers a choice of engines
3. Intro
– The barcode system is no longer the best way to business operation. Customers are
tired of waiting in long, slowly moving checkout line in departmental stores,
especially, in holidays. Now a days people are much attracted by the online trading
because of tedious time consuming process at billing counter.
– People purchase different items in the malls and puts them in the trolley. At the
cash counter billing process is done using bar code scanner.
– To avoid this we are developing a system which we called as ‘AUTOMATION OF
SHOPPING CART Using RFID module and ZIGBEE module’ .
– With the decrease of prices through efficiencies of technology and large-scale
production of semiconductor wireless components, there has been a search for new
markets in which semiconductor chips can be used. This has led to the use of RFID
also known as smart tags. RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification.
4. Literature survey
– Nowadays, if a consumer would like to buy something at a shopping mall,
consumers need to take the particular items from the display shelf and then
queue up and wait for their turn to make payment.
– The time taken for consumers to wait for the customers in front of the queue to
scan every single item and then followed by making payment will definitely take
plenty of time.
– most consumers will worry the amount of money brought is not enough to pay
for all the things that wanted to be bought until it comes to our turn to pay at
the cashier.
– if the technology of RFID is implemented. Consumers will be able to get
information of all the items at shopping mall, total up the prices of items as
they shop, and save unnecessary time at the cashier
5. Existing method
– Currently available method in shopping malls is barcode method. In this method
there are barcode labels on each product which can be read through specially
designed barcode readers.
– A barcode reader (or barcode scanner) is an electronic device for reading
printed barcodes. Like a flatbed scanner, it consists of a light source, a lens and
a light sensor translating optical impulses into electrical ones.
– Additionally, nearly all barcode readers contain decoder circuitry analyzing the
barcode's image data provided by the sensor and sending the barcode's content
to the scanner's output port
6. Proposed method
– It is possible to read RFID tags from a greater distance. An RFID reader can
access the information of the tag from a distance of around 300 feet.
– barcode technology can't be read from a distance of more than 15 feet.
– RFID technology also scores over barcode technology in terms of speed
– Barcode reading is comparatively slower because it requires a
direct line of sight. On an average, a barcode reader takes around one second to
successfully interpret two tags, whereas in the same time the RFID reader can
interpret around 40 tags.
7. Why RFID?
RFID (proposed technology)
– a) Automatic reading of RFID tag from product.
– b) RFID can be placed inside the product.
– c) No line of sight required to read RFID.
– d) RFID tags are not affected by such conditions.
– e) Long reading distance.
– f) RFID tag having READ & WRITE capability
–
8. Proposed method(Cntd..)
– RFID tags are well protected or either implanted inside the product, and hence
is not subjected too much wear and tear.
– . As barcode lacks read and write facility, it is not possible to add to the
information already existing on it. On the other hand rewriting on RFID tags is
possible .
11. Microcontroller AT89S52
– Atmel AT89S52 is a powerful microcontroller which provides a
highly-flexible and costeffective solution to many embedded
control applications
– The AT89S52 is a low-power, high-performance CMOS 8-bit
microcontroller with 8K bytes of insystem programmable Flash
memory.
– The AT89S52 provides the following standard features:
– 8K bytes of Flash, 256 bytes of RAM, 32 I/O lines,
– Watchdog timer, two data pointers, three 16-bit
– timer/counters, a six-vector two-level interrupt architecture,
a full duplex serial port, on-chip oscillator, and clock circuitry.
12. RFID READER
– RFID readers or receivers are composed of a radio frequency module, a control
unit and an antenna to interrogate electronic tags via radio frequency (RF)
communication (Sarma et al. 2002).
– The reader as shown in fig powers an antenna to generate an RF field. When a
tag passes through the field, the information stored on the chip in the tag is
interpreted by the reader and sent to the server, which, in turn, communicates
with the integrated library system when the RFID system is interfaced with it
(Boss 2004).
– Radio frequency identification (RFID) in a variety of
ways including automatic identification and data
capture (AIDC) solutions. We pride ourselves in providing
customers with inexpensive RFID solutions that integrate
well with other systems.
13. RFID TAGS
– This technology is similar in concept to a cell 32phone. RFID is a broad term for
technologies that use radio waves to automatically identify people or objects.
– There are several methods of identification, but the most common is to store a
serial number that identifies a person or object, and perhaps other information,
on a microchip that is attached to an antenna
– The antenna enables the chip to transmit the identification information to a
reader. The reader converts the radio waves reflected back from the RFID tag
into digital information that can then be passed on to computers that can make
use of it
14. LCD
– LCDs can add a lot to your application in terms of providing a useful interface for
the user, debugging an application or just giving it a "professional" look. The
most common type of LCD controller is the Hitachi 44780, which provides a
relatively simple interface between a processor and an LCD.
– Inexperienced designers do often not attempt using this interface and
programmers because it is difficult to find good documentation on the
interface, initializing the interface can be a problem and the displays themselves
are expensive.
– LCD has single line display, Two-line display, four line display. Every line has 16
characters.
15. ZIGBEE PRO
– XBee can be covers around 30m at indoor and 100m at outdoor. Inversely, XBee
Pro can cover higher distance range than XBee which is 100m at indoor and
1500m at outdoor.
– Both devices that has a UART interface can connect directly from
microcontroller to pins of RF Module
– Using UART interface, we can use this wireless devices to communicate
between microcontroller to microcontroller (two PICs) or between PC to
microcontroller
16. Advantages
– Locating products through system search, which then displays a map with both
cart and product location thus avoiding the waste of time searching for
products that often change place.
– The offer of multiple navigation trajectories inside the supermarket based on
the consumer’s shopping list or on system’s suggestion.
– Shopping list suggestions based on previous visits by monitoring navigational
trajectories inside the supermarket and choice of products, something which
helps the consumer remember any needed product.
17. Applications
– We implement to simplify the billing process, make it swift & increase the
security using RFID technique. This will take the overall shopping experience to
a different level.
– Automatic billing of products by using RFID technique will be a more viable
option in the future.
– The system based on RFID technique is efficient, compact and shows promising
performance.
18. Conclusion
– The developed product is easy to use, economical and does not require any
special training.
– This project simplifies the billing process, makes it swift & increases the security
using RFID technique. This will take the overall shopping experience to a
different level.
– We have also learned the architecture of the system that can be used in the
shopping systems for intelligent and easy shopping in the malls to save time,
energy and money of the consumers. Present trends point towards the fast
growth of RFID in the next decade
