How Did Gandhi Influence British Imperialism
Throughout modern history, Britain s exponential growth inevitably affected the future of many
nations in the contemporary world in particular, the culturally intertwined state of India. Even in the
initial stages of colonisation, India was forcefully occupied by the British East India Company;
however, it was not until 1858 that a dictatorship was officially announced and the nation was forced
to regard England as the true homeland . Amidst societal unease and a growing discontent with the
British rulers by the poor peasants, India s emancipation seemed inevitable in order for the nation to
truly progress. In effect, a revolutionary leader spawned; Mohandas Gandhi. His great philosophical
mind held innovative ideas which were instrumental in the achievement of Indian Independence with
his thoughtful ideologies and beliefs paving the way for oppressed Indians to ultimately unite against
British imperialism. Consequently, this resulted in the monumental Satyagraha campaign that
triumphed successfully against the British authorities. In spite of fierce British opposition to India s
pleas for self governance, Gandhi continually pressed for a peaceful response to the dire situation;

independence had fundamentally changed the England s influence over India forever; a march which,
although having minuscule beginnings, swelled to over 100, 000 humans whom all desired one thing
freedom from British oppression (MapsofIndia, 2015) Culturally, this campaign was of utmost

A Brief Note On Firefighter And The Firefighters

Firefighter
How would you feel if your house was on fire, and you had no one to come help and you were on your
own? Most people would panic and not know which steps to take next. This is where the strong and
brave men called firefighter come in to play. Firefighters are taught to use a variety of techniques to
control dangerous fires and to limit the damage caused by them. Their main objective is to shut down
the fires as quickly and safely as possible and to save anybody in danger. They do not just work for
extinguishing fires but they also serve as paramedics. Many people look rely on them during these
dangerous situations and it puts a tremendous amount of pressure when it comes down to getting the
job done correctly and safely. To be able to accomplish these difficult tasks you must be highly trained
and will have to be strong, physically and mentally. Firefighters risk their lives on a daily basis by
saving people from dangerous situations. The art of firefighting began due to the Roman emperor,
Augustus, who instituted a corps of fire fighting vigils ( watchmen ) in 24 B.C. The main piece of
equipment used in ancient Rome and into early modern times was the bucket, passed from hand to
hand to put out the fire. Another important piece of equipment was the ax, which was used to remove
the fuel and prevent the fire from spreading. Also, it was very helpful to use so that you can make
openings that would allow heat and

why to be a chemical engineer

Why Chemical Engineering? Individuals take engineering as something distance to their lives due to
rigorous courses to get through. As some would say that it is not worth it, other clever individuals
have figured this out. To be a chemical engineer, an individual explores and takes on other sciences to
create important products to better peoples lives. As Mark and Sherri Devaney stated, ...Chemical
Engineers are charged primarily with finding ways to put science and engineering principles to work...
with their purpose being, ...to help corporations and organizations create useful, cost effective
products that will benefit consumers... .(pg. 43) As it was brought up earlier, to ... Show more content

But this is a life issue, not an engineering issue. (n.pag) With actual experience and not statistics with
studies, this valuable advice could prepare an applicant to be disciplined in a different category than
engineering itself, therefore, expanding their diversity of knowledge and interaction. These could truly
be attributes an applicant would want to desire even if they didn t decide to pursue chemical
engineering. In chemical engineering, an applicant would not only want to submerse themselves in
complete knowledge of chemical engineering, but also in learning qualifications that could get them
noticed and hired. To be a chemical engineer, an applicant should not be only strong in the occupation
itself, but also in their interaction and sociability. A chemical engineer informs a group of applicants
by stating, A lot of my work is team oriented. I work with a few other people and we all depend on
each other to bring certain results or knowledge to the group as a whole so that we can accomplish our
overall goal. (n.pag) By having interactive qualities, it is clear and also postulated that one cannot be
an introverted person when looking to get hired. By actual accounts of a chemical engineer, he
postulates and informs applicants that, All engineers must at some point (if not nearly always) work as
part of a group or team, and all engineers must be able to communicate the results of their work to
their peers, supervisors, upper management, subordinates, and

Renewable Sources Of Energy Sources
Energy Sources
Introduction
Energy sources have been identified as being vital in running virtually all domestic and industrial
operations. There are two types of energy sources; renewable energy sources and nonrenewable
energy sources. Renewable energy sources refer to the kinds that are naturally replenished. These
include sunlight, the wind, ocean tides, waves, geothermal heat and rain (Tiwari et al., 2012).
Nonrenewable energy sources, on the other hand, are the kinds that do not renew themselves at a rate
sufficient enough to meet human demand. Fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas,
minerals, metal ores and groundwater all comprise nonrenewable energy sources (Verma et al., 2015).
In recommending the category of choice having weighed the benefits and demerits of each, science
has played an important role. According to scientific research, nonrenewable sources of energy are not
recommended due to the massive demerits that come with their use.
The renewable sources of energy listed above have some advantages. They are naturally occurring and
thus do not require much effort to harness. Besides, they are natural components of the environment
whose use does not contribute to environmental pollution (Tiwari et al., 2012). The fact that they are
never depleted also guarantees users who have installed the necessary harnessing machinery, of a
continuous supply of energy. Despite these advantages, however, there also exist some demerits. Much
as these sources are

Earth from Space
As beautiful as the earth is from the ground it is even more stunning from international space stations.
There are approximately 120 artificial satellites in space starting at a distance of 100 to 25,000 miles
from the ground. There are many different types of Artificial Satellites, each with a distinct job. Some
Artificial Satellites help predict the weather, while others gather information about the universe for
organizations like NASA. Satellites can see things far beyond human vision; they transform things
invisible to the naked eye into visible images.
These transformed images show how the sunlight, moisture, land and atmosphere react together to
make life on earth possible. These insights help scientists relate between the planet and it s life. So,
what exactly makes life? What are the essential components, which make life possible on this planet?
Why do sand storms in the Sahara affect the amazon rain forest 5000 miles away? The video Earth
from Space helps us understand the effects of forces on this planet.
It starts with the Sun, at a distance of 93 million miles away from the earth; it warms every inch on the
surface. One of the newer satellites by NASA called Suomi National Polar orbiting which was
launched in 2011, orbits 500 miles away from ground. It enables us to see more substances. For
instance, the spectrum is as long as the distance from New York to Los Angeles. In comparison, the

The Challenges of translating sense of humor from Arabic into English
Abstract
Humor is a social and stylistic phenomenon. The function of humor text is to achieve the entertaining
and amusing the readership. As a first step to translate humor, the translator should know what makes
this certain sentence or expression funny? What is the type of this humor? If the translator knows that,
he will decide what strategy should be used to give a better translation for that humor. This paper will
investigate both linguistic and cultural challenges of translating humor from Arabic into English ...
Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper, however, will concentrate on the first two groups, i.e., translating linguistic and cultural
humor only. Generally, there are many problems that surround translating humor from Arabic into
English since they belong to two different linguistic systems; however, there are some techniques and
strategies that can be used in order to convey the same message intended in the original culture.
Linguistic Problems
Linguistic humor or language based jokes can be classified as the most difficult type of humor to be
translated into the target language. Raphaelson (1998) states that the challenge of translating this kind
is not because of the nature of the humor or joke itself, but its relation to the language. on the same
line, El Yasin (1997) states that linguistic jokes...are based on some incongruity resulting from an
accedential feature in the design of the language...the build up of joke creates a context in which one
interpretation of a linguistic form is reasonable and another is suppressed (p.4). To support this
statement, let s see this example:
Source sentence: ‫طحنوه‬ ‫حب‬ ‫واحد‬ ‫في‬
Back translation: there is one fell in love, they ground him
Here, we are facing a linguistic problem. This translation would make no sense for the English
speakers. The word ‫حب‬ has two different meaning in Arabic: fell in love and a grain . The appropriate
sense of this sentence is to give the meaning of the first part as

Meiying s Decision
Is love always beautiful? It will be great if it is, but life is not a romantic Disney story. Do not kid
yourself into believing that every love story has a happy ending, because in reality, such perfection
never exists. Indeed, love can sometimes be the cause of one s downfall by turning his or her life into
turmoil. Worst, it can scarily be used to justify one s action in harming others. In The Jade Peony
written by Wayson Choy, Sek Lung informs us of the existence of a Romeo and Juliet kind of tragedy
through his narration of the love story of Meiying, his babysitter to whom he looks up. This forbidden
love had unfortunately caused Meiying to be a criminal because her pregnancy had given her a reason
to commit a sin towards the pure hearted life growing in her womb. In the last chapter of the book,
Meiying was discovered with [...] two long knitting needles glinting between [her] legs (Choy 275),
showing her effort in aborting her baby. Meiying has bravely decided to put an end to the life of her
own child using her own two hands because of the external and internal pressures surrounding her
pregnancy. Meiying thinks that her pregnancy is socially unacceptable and it clashes with her
interests.
Meiying is afraid that her pregnancy will be used as an instrument to marginalize her in society. First
and foremost, the fact that Meiying is bearing a child outside of a marriage is totally unacceptable,
especially in the traditional society of Chinatown back in Vancouver during

Two things mainly: blood pressure monitoring, and for patients who need frequent blood draws. Any
patient on more than a small amount of any vasoactive drip really needs to have an a line for proper
BP management if they re sick enough to be put in the unit and need pressors, then they re sick
enough for an a line. Non invasive automatic blood pressure cuffs are useful, but if a person is labile
push for an a line.
Certain situations absolutely require an a line for BP monitoring: any use of any dose of nipride, for
example. This is a truly powerful drug it works very quickly, and your patient can rapidly get into all
sorts of trouble unless you re monitoring BP continuously.
I ve heard lately that there s a trend towards using fewer a lines it seems silly (and painful) to have
your patient get stuck what seems like twelve times in a shift for labs and ABGs. Remember that it s
always been our unit s policy for nurses to send ABGs after every vent change, or for any clinical
change that the patient makes.
Update this has changed a little: ABGs probably don t seem to be necessary for vent changes that are
only going to affect oxygenation: changes in FiO2 or PEEP, since the O2 sat will keep you

Carl Anka from The Independent tells us that studies prove that if you listen to sad or aggressive
music often, you my experience higher anxiety. Research was conducted and they tested the neural
activity of participants as they tuned in to happy, sad or fearful sounding music. After recording the
results, the responses were assessed on several markers of mental health including depression, anxiety
and neuroticism. Dr. Suvi Saarikallio, developer of the Music in Mood Regulation (MMR) test,
shared, This style of listening results in the feeling of expression of negative feelings, not necessarily
improving the negative mood. With this article, I can show how music serves as a form of therapy to
those who are emotionally distressed.

The Structure Of The Skeletal System
The skeletal system, while appearing inert at first glance, is a dynamic organ responsible for a number
of vital functions in the body; including but not limited to providing protection and support to other
organ systems, as well as permitting movement through collaboration with the muscular system. At
the cellular level, bone provides a reservoir of growth factors and cytokines, maintains the acid base
balance and mineral homeostasis, and is the site of hematopoeisis. Like other connective tissue, bone
has both a cellular and an extracellular matrix component. The matrix is made up of collagen fibers
and noncollagenous proteins, with type I collagen accounting for ~90% of total protein, and the
noncollagenous osteocalcin, osteopontin, and bone sialoprotein, and others making up the other 10%.
In contrast with other connective tissue, the extracellular matrix of bone is mineralized
physiologically, though the deposition of layers of carbonated hydroxyapatite. This mineral
component, making up 50 70% of bone, provides bone s characteristic mechanical rigidity and
strength (Clarke 2008). Elasticity and flexibility are due to the organic matrix, which makes up
another 20 40%, lending bone incredible resilience without compromising its strength, and another 5
10% of bone is water.
There are two major types of bone; trabecular (also called cancellous or spongy), and cortical (also
called compact). Cortical bone is denser and hard, whereas trabecular bone is a honeycomb network

Restrictive Cardiomyopathy Essay
Other forms of secondary restrictive cardiomyopathy include scleroderma, Friedreich s Ataxia,
hemochromatosis, glycogen storage disease and sarcoidosis. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy used
to treat cancer can also cause restrictive cardiomyopathy. Sarcoidosis is caused by the infiltration of
granulomas in the heart and other tissues of the body. Lungs and lymph nodes are the main organs
targeted by this disease, but no organ is spared as it also affects the central nervous system and skin. In
the USA, the occurrence in the white population is estimated to be 11 per 100,000. It affects people
between the ages of 20 to 30 years and occurs more in women than in men (Dubrey, Bell, Mittal,
2007). Hemochromatosis is caused by the buildup of iron in the heart tissue which can then lead to
heart arrhythmias. Scleroderma is a disorder of the connective tissue that leads to fibrosis of the skin,
heart and lungs. Glycogen storage disease, also named Pompe s affects infants. It causes increased
storage of glycogen and fat tissue in the body. This causes the heart then to become very heavy and
thick. Infants tend to struggle to breath, have trouble feeding and fail to meet developmental steps on
time like rolling over and sitting up. Fabry Disease, a glycogen storage disease, is an ... Show more

Analysis Of Tupac Shakur s Song, Dear Mama
The struggles of a single mother is not something everyone will fully understand. In the late 90 s there
was huge poverty and gang violence in Los Angeles, California where Tupac grew up. Many of his
songs reflect on how his experience was in this environment. In Tupac Shakur s song, Dear Mama
found in album, Me Against the World, for a single mother to show love for her child takes a huge
struggle, especially when it was a time where gang violence was really high and fathers would leave
their children. Throughout the song Tupac uses imagery to capture the feeling of pain and struggle and
fluently illustrate the moments where he was young, until he grew up and realized the love his mother
gave him. Dear Mama is also portrayed as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The song implements on the hardships a mother will face for the growth of their son because love is
what keeps them going. The love a mother will have for her son means that even though they don t
have a father figure around to show them how to grow up, they will always have their mothers to
teach them the way of life through a woman s perspective. In the song, Dear Mama , Tupac mentions,
For a woman it ain t easy trying to raise a man, you always was committed and he is able to
foreshadow the hardships his mother had to face while Tupac was growing up without a father. At the
age of seventeen Tupac, was always caught up in drama with his mom. Since Tupac was young he got
involved into the hustle and was left in the streets where he basically had to risk he life every day. He
never realized that being pushed into the streets would make him think about his mother or even worry
about her. Tupac reflects upon the behavior he had during the time and how much stress he would add
on his mother s shoulders, but little did he know that his mother would be there for him regardless.
Tupac Shakur s mom was committed to his son and no matter the troubles he caused and faced she
would be there for him to either help him out or at least hear him when he was not feeling good. She
was a single mother on welfare, but she always tried

direct selling with each other. In other words, Carousell established a venue which allows the
consumers to engage with each other and carry out online commerce activities, which is a form of
consumer to consumer (C2C) e commerce via both mobile and website platforms, and Carousell does

Whenever the issue arises, it must be resolved personally by the buyer and seller, Carousell usually
will not involve directly in the matter. Since the sellers on Carousell are primarily comprised of
consumers, they do not possess any standardised or professional policy to measure this issue, nor the
Carousell did. Hence, the way to handle the issue still varies with different sellers. In certain cases,
returning good is not acceptable by some of the sellers as most of the items sold on Carousell are
second handed good or used items with good and usable condition.
2.4 Additional Charges
The only additional charge that buyers need to pay is the postage fee of the item they bought. Postage
charge varies according to the nature and weight of the items, and also which courier company
delivers the items. For instance, the postage rate of Pos Laju Malaysia for items below 1kg varies from
RM 6 to RM 12. However, it is not always necessary for the buyer to pay for the extra postage fee as
some of the sellers will include the postage fee into the selling price or the buyers may choose to
complete the transaction by COD.

A Visit To A Restaurant
While it may seem a little strange that I have never been to an authentic Mexican restaurant in my life,
there is a perfectly good reason why. Chipotle and On The Border, two restaurants on the list as
frequently visited for me just are simply just Americanized Mexican restaurants and definitely do not
qualify as places that stay true to the Mexican culture. Therefore, for this global experience, I decided
to make a visit to an authentic Mexican restaurant named Taqueria Marias and it honestly was worth
the wait. Deciding to share this experience, I took two of my friends along with me and we shared a
lunch at the small restaurant. Almost immediately after entering we noticed that the restaurant was
incredibly lively, the tables were full, everyone was talking and laughing loudly, and the waiters never
stopped smiling as they ran from table to table at breakneck speed. The energy was amazing, unlike
any other restaurant I have ever been to which is really saying something. Once we got seated, we
ordered a guacamole and chips along with a rice and beans for the table and I ordered a vegetarian El
Mixteco Burrito for myself. The food showed up in record time despite there being a ton of people and
it was nothing short of delicious. Additionally, it was quite interesting to see that the waiters were
having conversations with guests at almost every table and even the chef came out to greet everyone
and ask about the food. It was a very interactive opportunity.

Visual Perception and Visual Imagery Essay
If visual imagery and visual perception shared many of the same processes, then much of what is
known to date about perception may be used and adapted to be able to understand the more internal
and ambiguous process of visual imagery. The question is how much of mental imagery is actually a
part of visual perception? The concept of a unitary mechanism has been recurrently mentioned in the
text, although little has been said about what it means and implies. This is a term coined by Stephen
Kosslyn (2005), he provided a model of visual imagery in which a single visual buffer is used bottom
up to display visual percepts and top down to display internally generated images. The main claim is
that the brain areas that implement the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another type of research is single case studies in which double dissociations have gravely challenged
the model, such cases involve patients in which imagery was impaired and perception was speared and
vice versa (Shallice, 1988). Although measures of haemodynamic activity and brain lesion studies
provide some insightful information on the issue, other behavioural data is necessary to understand
whether visual imagery is processed in the same way as perception. Finke and Pinker (1982) used
reaction times as a mental tape measure in which participants were required to look at an array of dots,
once the dots disappeared and an arrow appeared, participants were requested to indicate whether the
arrow was pointing at a previous dot or not. If the distance of the arrow was increased than the
reaction time was expected to increase while one imagines scanning the image. This final research
begs for the question, would eye movements show the same pattern of scanning ? If visual perception
and visual imagery have so much in common, than we might expect that the eye sequences present in
visual perception will also be present and similar in visual imagery. There is strong evidence that this
is in fact true, several studies show that spontaneous eye movements occur during visual imagery and
in most of the studies the movements reflect the content and spatial relations of the originally
perceived object. In a study by Brandt and Stark (1997) the

When it rains the bacteria can also be washed into small bodies water, then animals such as dogs that
swim in or drink the contaminated water will be infected with the bacteria. Another way is through
open wounds such as bites, in which the bacteria goes into the body from there.

The vet will administer antibiotics to fight the bacteria and also help with their symptoms such as

Substance Abuse and Recovery Substance abuse seems to be rising in prevalence per my experiences

Persuasive Essay On Home Alone
Most people never thought of what it would be like to have your wish come true, and at the same time
having to face the scariest thing as a kid all in just two days. One thing is true for a fact that we do
love our family greatly, yet we all have taken our anger out on our family also by saying some things
that we probably shouldn t have, causing our emotions to take over and have no control over what
happens next. Therefore, in a film as a kid Kevin McCallister (a 9 year old) decides to take all his
anger out on his family after being name called and teased. His mom then sends him to the attic where
he then tells her that he hates his family, but that he also wishes to never see them again. His wish did,
in fact, come true, he was left home alone on Christmas Eve while his family was on vacation. The
thing is he has to face two robbers in an event of the battle of good vs. evil just to save his house, nor
does he have anyone to look up too. But does he? Having no family there makes it even harder, and
Kevin soon realizes that maybe his family is what matters most. This film is called Home Alone, In

pond at UNCC for an experiment to determine whether or not if the pond is in a safe or in a harmful
environment and if the pond is healthy or unclean. University of North Carolina Charlotte and its
health is an important factor to the survival of the animals around it. North Carolina is a southern US
state with landscape ranging from the atlantic ocean to the appalachian mountains. Charlotte is the
state largest city it is home to the NFL s Carolina Panthers and the Nascar Hall of Fame UNCC s

located to the left of CEEC.This pond is the home to many animals such as fish, ducks, tadpoles,
canadian geese, turtles, and cattail, and is a source of water for the university. In order to be able to
use this water, the pond health must be healthy. However, what makes a pond really healthy?
Pond health is determined by its pH levels, its levels of biodiversity, its dissolved oxygen levels, its
temperature, its range of tolerance, its air temperature, and its amount of nitrogen. In order for a pond
to be healthy it must have the correct amount of each on of these things.
One significant factor to pond health is pH. pH stands for hydrogen of power, which is the
measurement of the hydrogen ion in the experiment you have to complete. pH is normally scaled of

Receptor Proteins
A cell is the smallest basic functional unit of a living organism. The cell is composed of organelles that
help the cell perform its specialized function. Every cell contains a cell membrane and a cytoplasm,
the material that is within the cell but does not include the organelles. The cell membrane is a semi
permeable structure with 2 layers of phospholipids containing embedded proteins. The role of this
fluid mosaic model is to monitor the exchange of substances, separate the cytoplasm from the external
environment, form a communication between other cells, and act as an identification that protects the
cell from unidentifiable substances. Also known as fats, the phospholipids creates a barrier between
the layers because they consist of a nonpolar hydrophobic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For cell communication, the cell membrane has signaling molecules called glycolipids, lipids that
have a carbohydrate and are bonded by a glycosidic bond. There are different proteins that belong in
the phospholipid bilayer and each of them have a function. Channel proteins are designed to allow
diffusion of molecules through small openings. Carrier proteins have binding sites and work by
targeting specific molecules to allow for passage through gate channels. Receptor proteins triggers a
release of molecules that stimulate cellular responses, for example the release of hormones through the
synaptic cleft. Proteins that use tags to identify cells to the immune system are known as cell
recognition proteins. Proteins also include enzymes and they perform metabolic reactions in the body.
The transport across the membrane allow for particles with no charge or small ones to pass through,
such as carbon dioxide. However, water cannot pass through easily across and needs the assistance of
an aquaporin, a channel protein, to move through the bilayer. There are two types of transport: passive
and active

Cross in Propaganda: How Not to Be Bamboozled. This article announces the devices of trickery used

glittering generalities, plain folks appeal, argumentum ad populum, argumentum ad hominem, transfer

assuming the information to be true. Glittering generalities are the opposite of name calling, in which
a positive connotation is used to make us agree without questioning the evidence. Typically, glittering

Essay On Driving Under The Influence
Driving under the influence (DUI) is a serious criminal offense in Georgia. While most offenses are
considered a misdemeanor, drivers can still face serious consequences. This is why it is always a good
idea to contact a DUI lawyer immediately after being arrested.
What Is Considered a DUI?
In Georgia, drivers may be charged with a DUI if police suspect that someone is driving under the
influence. In most cases, you must have a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or more. However, it
can be as low as 0.04 percent for those driving a commercial vehicle. For those under 21 years of age,
driving with an alcohol blood content of just 0.02 percent can result in a DUI.

In most cases, drivers are allowed to drive to their place of employment. They may also be able to
drive to dependency classes, community service, and doctor appointments. However, all driving
activity must be planned in advance.
Ignition Interlock Device
For those with multiple offenses on their record, the state of Georgia may require the driver to install
an ignition interlock device. This device might sound intimating, but it s actually a simple tool. Before
the vehicle will start, the driver must take a breathalyzer. If the device detects any alcohol, the vehicle
will start up. While it s simple enough, it can be overly sensitive. For example, mouthwash or cooking
brandy could trigger the device.
While both of these options will allow drivers to keep driving, they will minimize the chances of
receiving another DUI charge.

A Brief Note On The Canadian Banking System
2. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
Introduction
Canadian banking system has shown itself as been one of the most robust systems in the world
(Ratnovski Huang, 2009). Banking in Canada is widely considered the most efficient and safest
banking system in the world, ranking as the world s soundest banking system during the global
economic crisis that started in 2007, according to the survey conducted by the World Economic
Forum.
Banks play a key role in Canada s financial system and economic development. The banking industry
includes 28 domestic banks, 24 foreign bank subsidiaries, 24 full service foreign bank branches and
four foreign bank lending branches operating in Canada. (Source: Office of the Superintendent of
Financial Institutions as of January, 2014).
As major players in Canada s financial industry, the banks serve millions of customers. They include
individuals, small and medium sized businesses, large corporations, governments, institutional
investors and non profit organizations.
Banks are among Canada s leading employers. In 2000 the industry employed over 235,000
Canadians and had a Canadian payroll of approximately $16.1 billion. In addition, in 2001 the six
major domestic banks paid $4.8 billion in taxes to all levels of government.

The financial crisis was triggered by a combination of factors; some of them were the lack of

Argumentative Essay On Cyber Bullying
A recent review of 377 articles found that cyberbullying affects 10 20% of adolescents as either
victims or perpetrators, or both, and is associated with emotional stress, social anxiety, substance
abuse, depressive symptoms, suicidal ideation, and suicide attempts (Wiederhold, 2016). Health
professionals can help identify cyberbullies in their young patients by questioning them about
problems they might be having on the internet and meeting strangers online. Health professionals are
encouraged to be alert and to try and detect these signs as soon as possible. Their help may help
prevent a suicide, which is the third leading cause of death for American youth ages 10 24

What Effect Did Farming Have On American Life
Before there was farming people had to hunt for berries and animals. People knew that they had to
start finding ways to produce food. If they started making advanced tools it would help them grow

more civilizations growing, farming became more of a demand. Hunting for berries and animals were

Defeat Your Opponent Analysis
How to defeat your opponent
There are many ways to defeat an opponent in many different categories such as sports, business, or
anything that is competitive. For example, sports is one of the most competitive categories you will
ever find perhaps if not the most competitive. There are many people who are willing to pay millions
of dollars to experts who can teach them how to defeat their opponents in such a way where they can
find their weakness point. Every human being has a strength point and a weakness point, learning how
to defeat the opponent by attacking their weakness point would be considered genius. There are many
different methods to defeat your opponent as I have stated earlier and I will try my best to mention a
couple and also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, if I am winning a game of basketball by 18 points and I realize that I am much ahead of
my opponent in terms of score, so I take my level down a bit. This is the worst thing you can do and it
relates to underestimating your opponent, if you take your level down then that is implying that your
opponent cannot catch up with your score. Many people have done this in countless games and lost in
the end of game because the other opponent scored many baskets against you when you let your guard
down. I remember in 2013 I was playing a rugby game in my school against another international
team from another city from China. We started the game with full seriousness and played the first 45
minutes with only the starters and after 45 minutes we were winning by 10 point. The coach and the
team thought that if we were winning by that much then we don?t need to let the starters play the
second half. However as soon as we subbed in our bench players and assumed it was going to be an
easy win we lost 4 points to the other team from stupid mistakes the we don?t even do in practice, and
eventually we lost. Thirdly I would like to warn any competitive player to always be alert whilst
playing against anyone at all times. Many people think that being alert has to do with underestimation
of the other player, however it has to do with when sometimes you get bored in the game and you
don?t focus so you start

Examples Of Victimless Crimes
There are many different crimes occurring on a daily basis. Crimes committed can vary from murder,
rape, and robbery involving victims. There are crimes known as victimless crimes, where victims aren
t involved, such as white collar crime, prostitution, and drug abuse. The question is, what makes a
victim, a victim? A victim is defined as a person harmed, injured, or killed as a result of a crime,
accident, or other event or action.
Drugs, for example, the rate of drug abuse is constantly rising, killing nearly 200,000 people a year
(Overdose Death Rates, 2015). Death from drug abuse, and death from the violence of drugs differ in
many ways. Children often get put in orphanages due to second hand drug use, and there are also
cases where some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Those who take drugs ever so often dies or commit other crimes to help ease their habit, which can
consequently end with the victim taking a life. If there weren t any drug addicts, those who were
selling drugs wouldn t have any customers and the supply and demand of the market mechanism
wouldn t be as necessary.
Those who are prostitutes live hard lives as well! Prostitutes are controlled by their owners who
expect them to meet a certain quota, and if they don t they experience domestic violence, to some
extent it could also be considered human trafficking. Although they chose to live their life this way,
there are tons of consequences that goes along with it such as: catching an STI or HIV, the person
being a cop, or even being

Political Emphasis Of George Orwell s Animal Farm
Chun Yue Chan
Prof. Godoy
Eng 101
December 14, 2017
Animals Farm s Political Emphasis George Orwell s Animal Farm, written in 1945, portrays animals
in imaginative human roles within a dystopian society. Orwell based Animal Farm on actual events
surrounding the Russian Revolution in 1917. Animal Farm s setting, Manor Farm, depicts old world
Russia of the early nineteenth century. The lead character, a white boar named Old Major, is reflective
of communist leader Vladimir I. Lenin. Old Major s counterpart, a pig named Snowball, portrays
Lenin s political crony Leon Trotsky. Another boar on Manor Farm, Napoleon, depicts the ruthless
Russian leader Joseph Stalin. The greedy lust for power of politicians is directly epitomized in Animal
Farm. Orwell utilizes anthropomorphism to personify characters, and political satire to examine the
failures of a dystopic world. Orwell s setting for Animal Farm, Manor Farm, is a depiction of old
world Russia from the era of monarchies. The owner of Manor Farm, Mr. Jones, is representative of
Tsar Nicholas II, who was the last Russian emperor. During Nicholas rule from 1894 1917 the Russian
people experienced terrible poverty and upheaval (Critical Essays The Russian Revolution). Old
Major, leader of Manor Farm s animals, described life as miserable, laborious, and short. We are born,
we are given just so much food as will keep the breath in our bodies, and those of us who are capable
of it are forced to work to the last atom of our strength (Orwell). Old Major s dialogue further stated
that no animal knew the meaning of happiness or freedom; life was misery and slavery. After all of
their usefulness was expended, they were slaughtered with gruesome acts of cruelty (Orwell). The
animals, like the Russian people under Nicholas, united to overthrow Mr. Jones, with promises of
much improved lives. However, what started as a socialist society with a vision towards Utopia, soon
started turning rancid (Neeraja). Perceived greed and excessive power were the reasons why Mr. Jones
was overthrown, and the renamed Animal Farm would suffer a similar destiny. Manor Farm s Old
Major is reflective of former Russian leader Vladimir I. Lenin. Old Major stood in such high regard
that

Archetypal Hero
Introduction
Take a minute to think about your favorite comic book character or the superhero that you admired the
most during your childhood and adolescent years. To name a few, Batman, Spiderman, Harry Potter,
Hercules, and more were just some of the beloved comic book and movie characters that were enjoyed
by children and adults alike. They portrayed the traditional archetypal hero, which was to conquer evil
and bring peace to the land and to the world. Over the years, they have become role models to children
all over the nation, as children would often dress up as their favorite character for Halloween or buy
toys at various stores. Also, they were highly praised by society because they were considered the
good guy . However, what all these characters have in common is that they are fictional. The depiction
of the traditional hero in the media and literature has had an impact on American culture for decades.
From their brave spirits, to their brute strength, and selfless personalities made the character appealing
to the average person because it gave this ideal almost perfect image of the person that people wished
they could be. Despite the fact that these characters and their qualities are completely fictional, the
praise and the admiration that the character received at the end of the book or movie due to their
heroic deeds targeted every person s secret desire, which is to be respected, honored, and accepted not
only by family and friends, but by society as

Mass Shooting Persuasive Speech
The devastating mass shooting at a community college in Roseburg, Oregon, inspires President
Barack Obama to take the podium in outrage Thursday, to express his grievances and to call for
tougher gun control. America will wrap everyone who s grieving with our prayers and our love, said
the president, to a nation plagued by mass shootings. The heartbreaking incident was number 295 in
2015, according to Mass Shooting Tracker s database. The unparalleled amount of mass shootings
traumatizes the nation and engulfing it in sorrow time and time again. The president accentuates the
fact that such tragedies are becoming a norm in American communities. Somehow this has become
routine. The reporting is routine. My response here at this podium ends up being routine. The
conversation in the aftermath of it. We ve become numb to this, he complained. ... Show more content

The president argued that trillions of dollars are spent protecting the nation against terrorism and yet,
Congress explicitly blocks any attempt on collecting data to potentially reduce gun deaths. We
collectively are answerable to those families who lose their loved ones because of our inaction, he
said. The devoted president even succumbed to criticize his own nation s ability to maintain harmony.
The rampant growth of gun violence can be attributed to the sheer amount of weapons present in the
country. There is a gun for roughly every man, woman, and child in America, the president said.
Hence increasing the odds of a potential mass shooting. He further noted that other countries are far
more efficient in response to mass shootings. They have crafted laws that almost eliminate them
altogether. However, to achieve similar results in America, the president requires the support of the
Congress and state legislatures. We re going to have to change our laws. And this is not something I

The Importance Of Critical Pedagogy In Teaching
Introduction
Critical pedagogy entails a teaching method motivated through critical hypothesis along with different
drastic philosophies that aims at aiding students inquire and experiment speculated domination

remains exceptionally expansive in fact and involves thick information. Truth be told, the political
point of view of critical pedagogy regarding the educational programs provides a lot in making
bounteous grants in the field. Furthermore, as the same number of creators see, basic instructional

teaching method, a scrutiny of its centre standards as well as an examination of the critique
coordinated contrary to its suppositions.
Moreover, critical pedagogy has its underlying foundations in Paulo Freire, an individual broadly
thought as the inaugural theorist of basic teaching method (Freire Slover, 1983). Despite the fact that
initially Freire devoted his endeavours on matters

  • 2. How Did Gandhi Influence British Imperialism Throughout modern history, Britain s exponential growth inevitably affected the future of many nations in the contemporary world in particular, the culturally intertwined state of India. Even in the initial stages of colonisation, India was forcefully occupied by the British East India Company; however, it was not until 1858 that a dictatorship was officially announced and the nation was forced to regard England as the true homeland . Amidst societal unease and a growing discontent with the British rulers by the poor peasants, India s emancipation seemed inevitable in order for the nation to truly progress. In effect, a revolutionary leader spawned; Mohandas Gandhi. His great philosophical mind held innovative ideas which were instrumental in the achievement of Indian Independence with his thoughtful ideologies and beliefs paving the way for oppressed Indians to ultimately unite against British imperialism. Consequently, this resulted in the monumental Satyagraha campaign that triumphed successfully against the British authorities. In spite of fierce British opposition to India s pleas for self governance, Gandhi continually pressed for a peaceful response to the dire situation; effectively promoting ... • 3. A Brief Note On Firefighter And The Firefighters Luis Carlos Mrs. Dennaoui English 12 23 April 2015 Firefighter How would you feel if your house was on fire, and you had no one to come help and you were on your own? Most people would panic and not know which steps to take next. This is where the strong and brave men called firefighter come in to play. Firefighters are taught to use a variety of techniques to control dangerous fires and to limit the damage caused by them. Their main objective is to shut down the fires as quickly and safely as possible and to save anybody in danger. They do not just work for extinguishing fires but they also serve as paramedics. Many people look rely on them during these dangerous situations and it puts a tremendous amount of pressure when it comes down to getting the job done correctly and safely. To be able to accomplish these difficult tasks you must be highly trained and will have to be strong, physically and mentally. Firefighters risk their lives on a daily basis by saving people from dangerous situations. The art of firefighting began due to the Roman emperor, Augustus, who instituted a corps of fire fighting vigils ( watchmen ) in 24 B.C. The main piece of equipment used in ancient Rome and into early modern times was the bucket, passed from hand to hand to put out the fire. Another important piece of equipment was the ax, which was used to remove the fuel and prevent the fire from spreading. Also, it was very helpful to use so that you can make openings that would allow heat and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. why to be a chemical engineer Christian Gonzales Mrs. Krametbauer English III 10 November 2014 Why Chemical Engineering? Individuals take engineering as something distance to their lives due to rigorous courses to get through. As some would say that it is not worth it, other clever individuals have figured this out. To be a chemical engineer, an individual explores and takes on other sciences to create important products to better peoples lives. As Mark and Sherri Devaney stated, ...Chemical Engineers are charged primarily with finding ways to put science and engineering principles to work... with their purpose being, ...to help corporations and organizations create useful, cost effective products that will benefit consumers... .(pg. 43) As it was brought up earlier, to ... These could truly be attributes an applicant would want to desire even if they didn t decide to pursue chemical engineering. In chemical engineering, an applicant would not only want to submerse themselves in complete knowledge of chemical engineering, but also in learning qualifications that could get them noticed and hired. To be a chemical engineer, an applicant should not be only strong in the occupation itself, but also in their interaction and sociability. A chemical engineer informs a group of applicants by stating, A lot of my work is team oriented. I work with a few other people and we all depend on each other to bring certain results or knowledge to the group as a whole so that we can accomplish our overall goal. (n.pag) By having interactive qualities, it is clear and also postulated that one cannot be an introverted person when looking to get hired. By actual accounts of a chemical engineer, he postulates and informs applicants that, All engineers must at some point (if not nearly always) work as part of a group or team, and all engineers must be able to communicate the results of their work to their peers, supervisors, upper management, subordinates, and ... • 5. Renewable Sources Of Energy Sources Energy Sources Introduction Energy sources have been identified as being vital in running virtually all domestic and industrial operations. There are two types of energy sources; renewable energy sources and nonrenewable energy sources. Renewable energy sources refer to the kinds that are naturally replenished. These include sunlight, the wind, ocean tides, waves, geothermal heat and rain (Tiwari et al., 2012). Nonrenewable energy sources, on the other hand, are the kinds that do not renew themselves at a rate sufficient enough to meet human demand. Fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas, minerals, metal ores and groundwater all comprise nonrenewable energy sources (Verma et al., 2015). In recommending the category of choice having weighed the benefits and demerits of each, science has played an important role. According to scientific research, nonrenewable sources of energy are not recommended due to the massive demerits that come with their use. The renewable sources of energy listed above have some advantages. They are naturally occurring and thus do not require much effort to harness. Besides, they are natural components of the environment whose use does not contribute to environmental pollution (Tiwari et al., 2012). The fact that they are never depleted also guarantees users who have installed the necessary harnessing machinery, of a continuous supply of energy. Despite these advantages, however, there also exist some demerits. Much as these sources are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are approximately 120 artificial satellites in space starting at a distance of 100 to 25,000 miles from the ground. There are many different types of Artificial Satellites, each with a distinct job. Some Artificial Satellites help predict the weather, while others gather information about the universe for organizations like NASA. Satellites can see things far beyond human vision; they transform things invisible to the naked eye into visible images. These transformed images show how the sunlight, moisture, land and atmosphere react together to make life on earth possible. These insights help scientists relate between the planet and it s life. So, what exactly makes life? What are the essential components, which make life possible on this planet? Why do sand storms in the Sahara affect the amazon rain forest 5000 miles away? The video Earth from Space helps us understand the effects of forces on this planet. It starts with the Sun, at a distance of 93 million miles away from the earth; it warms every inch on the surface. One of the newer satellites by NASA called Suomi National Polar orbiting which was launched in 2011, orbits 500 miles away from ground. It enables us to see more substances. The function of humor text is to achieve the entertaining and amusing the readership. As a first step to translate humor, the translator should know what makes this certain sentence or expression funny? What is the type of this humor? This paper, however, will concentrate on the first two groups, i.e., translating linguistic and cultural humor only. Generally, there are many problems that surround translating humor from Arabic into English since they belong to two different linguistic systems; however, there are some techniques and strategies that can be used in order to convey the same message intended in the original culture. Linguistic Problems Linguistic humor or language based jokes can be classified as the most difficult type of humor to be translated into the target language. Raphaelson (1998) states that the challenge of translating this kind is not because of the nature of the humor or joke itself, but its relation to the language. on the same line, El Yasin (1997) states that linguistic jokes...are based on some incongruity resulting from an accedential feature in the design of the language...the build up of joke creates a context in which one interpretation of a linguistic form is reasonable and another is suppressed (p.4). To support this statement, let s see this example: Source sentence: ‫طحنوه‬ ‫حب‬ ‫واحد‬ ‫في‬ Back translation: there is one fell in love, they ground him Here, we are facing a linguistic problem. • 8. Meiying s Decision Is love always beautiful? It will be great if it is, but life is not a romantic Disney story. Do not kid yourself into believing that every love story has a happy ending, because in reality, such perfection never exists. Indeed, love can sometimes be the cause of one s downfall by turning his or her life into turmoil. Worst, it can scarily be used to justify one s action in harming others. In The Jade Peony written by Wayson Choy, Sek Lung informs us of the existence of a Romeo and Juliet kind of tragedy through his narration of the love story of Meiying, his babysitter to whom he looks up. This forbidden love had unfortunately caused Meiying to be a criminal because her pregnancy had given her a reason to commit a sin towards the pure hearted life growing in her womb. In the last chapter of the book, Meiying was discovered with [...] two long knitting needles glinting between [her] legs (Choy 275), showing her effort in aborting her baby. Meiying has bravely decided to put an end to the life of her own child using her own two hands because of the external and internal pressures surrounding her pregnancy. Meiying thinks that her pregnancy is socially unacceptable and it clashes with her interests. Meiying is afraid that her pregnancy will be used as an instrument to marginalize her in society. • 12. The Structure Of The Skeletal System The skeletal system, while appearing inert at first glance, is a dynamic organ responsible for a number of vital functions in the body; including but not limited to providing protection and support to other organ systems, as well as permitting movement through collaboration with the muscular system. At the cellular level, bone provides a reservoir of growth factors and cytokines, maintains the acid base balance and mineral homeostasis, and is the site of hematopoeisis. Like other connective tissue, bone has both a cellular and an extracellular matrix component. The matrix is made up of collagen fibers and noncollagenous proteins, with type I collagen accounting for ~90% of total protein, and the noncollagenous osteocalcin, osteopontin, and bone sialoprotein, and others making up the other 10%. In contrast with other connective tissue, the extracellular matrix of bone is mineralized physiologically, though the deposition of layers of carbonated hydroxyapatite. Elasticity and flexibility are due to the organic matrix, which makes up another 20 40%, lending bone incredible resilience without compromising its strength, and another 5 10% of bone is water. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy used to treat cancer can also cause restrictive cardiomyopathy. Sarcoidosis is caused by the infiltration of granulomas in the heart and other tissues of the body. Lungs and lymph nodes are the main organs targeted by this disease, but no organ is spared as it also affects the central nervous system and skin. In the USA, the occurrence in the white population is estimated to be 11 per 100,000. It affects people between the ages of 20 to 30 years and occurs more in women than in men (Dubrey, Bell, Mittal, 2007). Hemochromatosis is caused by the buildup of iron in the heart tissue which can then lead to heart arrhythmias. Scleroderma is a disorder of the connective tissue that leads to fibrosis of the skin, heart and lungs. Glycogen storage disease, also named Pompe s affects infants. It causes increased storage of glycogen and fat tissue in the body. This causes the heart then to become very heavy and thick. Chipotle and On The Border, two restaurants on the list as frequently visited for me just are simply just Americanized Mexican restaurants and definitely do not qualify as places that stay true to the Mexican culture. Therefore, for this global experience, I decided to make a visit to an authentic Mexican restaurant named Taqueria Marias and it honestly was worth the wait. Deciding to share this experience, I took two of my friends along with me and we shared a lunch at the small restaurant. Almost immediately after entering we noticed that the restaurant was incredibly lively, the tables were full, everyone was talking and laughing loudly, and the waiters never stopped smiling as they ran from table to table at breakneck speed. Visual Perception and Visual Imagery Essay If visual imagery and visual perception shared many of the same processes, then much of what is known to date about perception may be used and adapted to be able to understand the more internal and ambiguous process of visual imagery. The question is how much of mental imagery is actually a part of visual perception? The concept of a unitary mechanism has been recurrently mentioned in the text, although little has been said about what it means and implies. This is a term coined by Stephen Kosslyn (2005), he provided a model of visual imagery in which a single visual buffer is used bottom up to display visual percepts and top down to display internally generated images. Another type of research is single case studies in which double dissociations have gravely challenged the model, such cases involve patients in which imagery was impaired and perception was speared and vice versa (Shallice, 1988). Although measures of haemodynamic activity and brain lesion studies provide some insightful information on the issue, other behavioural data is necessary to understand whether visual imagery is processed in the same way as perception. Finke and Pinker (1982) used reaction times as a mental tape measure in which participants were required to look at an array of dots, once the dots disappeared and an arrow appeared, participants were requested to indicate whether the arrow was pointing at a previous dot or not. If the distance of the arrow was increased than the reaction time was expected to increase while one imagines scanning the image. This final research begs for the question, would eye movements show the same pattern of scanning ? If visual perception and visual imagery have so much in common, than we might expect that the eye sequences present in visual perception will also be present and similar in visual imagery. There is strong evidence that this is in fact true, several studies show that spontaneous eye movements occur during visual imagery and in most of the studies the movements reflect the content and spatial relations of the originally perceived object. The role of this fluid mosaic model is to monitor the exchange of substances, separate the cytoplasm from the external environment, form a communication between other cells, and act as an identification that protects the cell from unidentifiable substances. Carrier proteins have binding sites and work by targeting specific molecules to allow for passage through gate channels. Receptor proteins triggers a release of molecules that stimulate cellular responses, for example the release of hormones through the synaptic cleft. Proteins that use tags to identify cells to the immune system are known as cell recognition proteins. Proteins also include enzymes and they perform metabolic reactions in the body. The transport across the membrane allow for particles with no charge or small ones to pass through, such as carbon dioxide. For example, sports is one of the most competitive categories you will ever find perhaps if not the most competitive. There are many people who are willing to pay millions of dollars to experts who can teach them how to defeat their opponents in such a way where they can find their weakness point. Every human being has a strength point and a weakness point, learning how to defeat the opponent by attacking their weakness point would be considered genius. For example, if I am winning a game of basketball by 18 points and I realize that I am much ahead of my opponent in terms of score, so I take my level down a bit. This is the worst thing you can do and it relates to underestimating your opponent, if you take your level down then that is implying that your opponent cannot catch up with your score. Many people have done this in countless games and lost in the end of game because the other opponent scored many baskets against you when you let your guard down. I remember in 2013 I was playing a rugby game in my school against another international team from another city from China. We started the game with full seriousness and played the first 45 minutes with only the starters and after 45 minutes we were winning by 10 point. The coach and the team thought that if we were winning by that much then we don?t need to let the starters play the second half. However as soon as we subbed in our bench players and assumed it was going to be an easy win we lost 4 points to the other team from stupid mistakes the we don?t even do in practice, and eventually we lost. Thirdly I would like to warn any competitive player to always be alert whilst playing against anyone at all times. Many people think that being alert has to do with underestimation of the other player, however it has to do with when sometimes you get bored in the game and you don?t focus so you start ... • 43. Political Emphasis Of George Orwell s Animal Farm Chun Yue Chan Prof. Godoy Eng 101 December 14, 2017 Animals Farm s Political Emphasis George Orwell s Animal Farm, written in 1945, portrays animals in imaginative human roles within a dystopian society. Orwell based Animal Farm on actual events surrounding the Russian Revolution in 1917. Animal Farm s setting, Manor Farm, depicts old world Russia of the early nineteenth century. The lead character, a white boar named Old Major, is reflective of communist leader Vladimir I. Lenin. Old Major s counterpart, a pig named Snowball, portrays Lenin s political crony Leon Trotsky. Another boar on Manor Farm, Napoleon, depicts the ruthless Russian leader Joseph Stalin. The greedy lust for power of politicians is directly epitomized in Animal Farm. Orwell utilizes anthropomorphism to personify characters, and political satire to examine the failures of a dystopic world. Orwell s setting for Animal Farm, Manor Farm, is a depiction of old world Russia from the era of monarchies. The owner of Manor Farm, Mr. Jones, is representative of Tsar Nicholas II, who was the last Russian emperor. During Nicholas rule from 1894 1917 the Russian people experienced terrible poverty and upheaval (Critical Essays The Russian Revolution). Old Major, leader of Manor Farm s animals, described life as miserable, laborious, and short. We are born, we are given just so much food as will keep the breath in our bodies, and those of us who are capable of it are forced to work to the last atom of our strength (Orwell). Old Major s dialogue further stated that no animal knew the meaning of happiness or freedom; life was misery and slavery. After all of their usefulness was expended, they were slaughtered with gruesome acts of cruelty (Orwell). The animals, like the Russian people under Nicholas, united to overthrow Mr. Jones, with promises of much improved lives. However, what started as a socialist society with a vision towards Utopia, soon started turning rancid (Neeraja). Perceived greed and excessive power were the reasons why Mr. Jones was overthrown, and the renamed Animal Farm would suffer a similar destiny. Manor Farm s Old Major is reflective of former Russian leader Vladimir I. Lenin. Old Major stood in such high regard that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
