The Importance Of Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is the utilization of computers to imitate human brains in restricted domains.
This is a consequence of developing computer which carry on logically, reason rationally and can
adequately decipher its surroundings continuously in real time. Artificial Intelligence is no longer a
fictionist concept, the superior computing prowess of artificial intelligence has enabled them to
surpass humans in problem solving. They have made it conceivable to recreate complex activities
that need proficient mastery. Chess playing program is an astounding case of an intellectual
system. Artificial intelligence is an extremely wide interdisciplinary field which connects to many
domains, all the computing disciplines, but also chemistry,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

to portray, understand human emotion and also learn from experience and learn from errors.
The Basic format of AI and its components is displayed inside the image (Tecuci). With the
creation of robots with artificial intelligence, we are able to create robots which can work on
task with greater efficiency than human beings. Hence, the basic fear of robots replacing
humans in the workforce rises as a potential threat for losing jobs. But individual of society
forget that Artificial intelligence will also create lots of jobs as they will require humans to help
maintain the condition of the bots and also to upgrade and fix issue in the bots. Also, the bots will
mostly take the jobs which are mainly labor infused. Therefore, if we have bots performing the
simple task of society it will require society to grow and become smarter hence benefiting the
society as a whole (Atkinon). Second, frequently individual of society worry that development in
Artificial intelligence will result in computer starting a revolution as they

Why Should Animals Be Kept In Zoos
There have been many discussions about the welfare of animals since the first zoos were
created. Some people agree that animals should be kept in zoo s, they argue that it benefits the
animals because their every need is catered to. However, in some zoo s they are treated the exact
opposite of being catered to. Sometimes the animals are also deprived of a natural environment
that the zoo s fail to recreate. However, zoo s can be helpful educationally to kids. It gives them a
close up on the beauty of the animals, but it comes at the animals expense. Many people argue
that they should be allowed to be kept in the small enclosures because they are well taken care
of. This isn t the case. They may be healthy physically from being in a small enclosure, and not
having any responsibilities besides getting up to eat or drink, but they are being destroyed
mentally. Their enclosures are too small for them to have a normal life. Animals should have
adequate space to live and raise their offspring, which means that the animal has enough space to
perform its natural functions, happily. Zoo s do not allow animals the proper space that they need,
thus causing many issues. For example, zoo enclosures for polar bears are one millionth the size
of its range in the wild, which can reach up to 31,000 square miles. In addition, cramped enclosures
for elephants create stress and dangerous situations. This is mainly because they are forced to be in
close quarters with other elephants that may

Passive Solar Heatinging Is Based On The Principles Of...
Passive solar heating The principle of passive solar heating is based on the collection of short
wave solar radiation in (building) mass that in return disperses long wave heat radiation that can be
used for space heating.
Earth coupling The general idea behind earth coupling is to take advantage of the earth s large
thermal storage capacity. Ground temperatures are quite stable at relatively small depths and are
quite similar to the local annual average ambient temperature. Near the surface ground temperatures
are more influenced by dynamic ambient conditions.
Night sky cooling The effective temperature of a sky at night is typically much lower than ambient
conditions.
Therefore buildings cool down at night by radiating heat to the sky. This phenomenon also occurs
during daytime but is then levelled out by solar radiation.
Natural air cooling Natural air flows can be used to remove unwanted heat from a building by
flushing the building with large volumes of (cool) air. Natural air cooling is based upon the natural
ventilation principle of cross ventilation: openings on both sides of the building allow natural
occurring winds to pass through the building carrying the heat along.
Evaporative cooling Evaporative cooling is based on the fact that energy is needed for the
evaporation of water. If this energy is withdrawn from the building, it will instantly cool down the
building. Just the presence of groundwater or surface water will bring about a cooling effect on its

Women In Beowulf Essay
The Hero s of Beowulf
After reading Beowulf, critics all over have disputed weather women in the book had a role in such
a masculine and brutal environment and time period. The argument is most likely due to the hero
being a male, thus minimizing woman s roles. Though their appearance is limited through out the
play, we can discover they have significant importance still. In this essay, I will offer insight on
several women and their significance in Beowulf, providing evidence of how they do serve a
central role. A number of women revealed in the play are: Wealtheow, Hygd, Hildeburh, Freawaru,
Thyrth and Grendal s mother. Within this elite group of women are two queens known as Hygd and
Wealtheow. Both are wedded to kings which,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Following Grendal s death, Wealtheow gives a celebratory speech to Hrothgar and then Beowulf.
She makes sure that Beowulf does not become the heir, and tries to make Hrothulf inherit this
position. This goes to show that she is looking out for herself by not letting someone from outside
the family take over. Hrothgar does not have any further imput and does not dispute the
suggestion, thus suggesting she has some influence on the king. When she addresses Beowulf,
she tells him to accept the gift she gives to him. Through this gesture we can suggest that she is a
great hostess. Also, in Old English, noble women tended to give gifts which showed reciprocity.
To finish off her speech, she reveals confidence as she says the noble men, having drunk, will do as
I ask. (652)
This line strongly suggests her dominance in the kingdom. Yet again, we see political power
among women when Hygd tries to pass the kingdom onto Beowulf. After his death, she steps in
and tries to make important decisions that her late husband would have made. These examples all
show that these women in the play are not benign at all. These women host men in the hall, give
gifts, and even have a say in politics

Dahl s How Democratic Is The American Constitution
How Democratic Is the American Constitution Critical Review
Kylie Kugler
Mira Costa College
Robert A. Dahl wrote How Democratic Is the American Constitution? without the purpose to
change our American Constitution but to adjust the way we think about it. Dahl raises the main
question, Why should we feel bound today by a document produced more than two centuries ago
by a group of fifty five mortal men, actually signed by only thirty nine, a fair number of whom
were slaveholders, and adopted in only thirteen states by the votes of fewer than two thousand
men, all of whom are long since dead and mainly forgotten (Dahl, 2001, page 2)? Dahl explores the

greatly expanded my knowledge about our American system of politics. Prior to reading the
novel, I had a very simple view of our Constitution, which in that I only ever thought of it as the
structure of our country. Dahl changed my entire perception of the Constitution and even made
me appreciate it more. Now, I know that the framers did not have a set example of a successful
form of government to base the constitution off of nor could they predict the future. That goes to
show how smart the framers were to be able to create such a brilliant and resourceful constitution
in the period of time that they did, along with the knowledge and technology of their time period. I
was also unaware of how the United States compared to other democratic countries. For example,
from 1992 95 100% of countries were performing better than the US in the topic of foreign aid.

The Problem Of Homelessness In The United States
Homelessness has been a problem in the U.S for over 80 years and it remains a problem today.
There are over 225 homeless people in the Athens area, and society can help the homeless by
improving their lives by providing simplicities. The homeless cannot properly take care of
themselves because they are not provided the tools to. The top causing factors leading to
homelessnessis substance abuse, mental illness, and lack of education. According to the National
Coalition for the homeless 38% of the homeless population in the U.S were dependent on the use
of alcohol and 26% abused other drugs. The use of alcohol leads to loss of relationships, friends,

Taxation In Nigeria Essay
TAXATION AND FISCAL REGULATIONS IN NIGERIA
INTRODUCTION
The Nigerian Tax System has undergone significant changes in recent times. The Tax Laws are
being reviewed with the aim of repelling obsolete provisions and simplifying the main ones. Under
current Nigerian law, taxation is enforced by the 3 tiers of Government, i.e. Federal, State, and
Local Government with each having its sphere clearly spelt out in the Taxes and Levies (approved
list for Collection) Decree, 1998. Of importance at this juncture however are tax regulations

Where however the taxpayer is a non resident company or individual the tax will only be levied on
the amount received or brought into Nigeria.
Computation of capital gains tax is done by deducting from the sum received or receivable from
the cost of acquisition to the person realizing the chargeable gain plus expenditure incurred on the
improvement or expenses incidental to the realization of the asset. b. Value Added Tax(VAT)
This was introduced by the VAT decree No. 2 of 1993, to replace the old sales tax. It is a
consumption tax levied at each stage of the consumption chain, and is borne by the final
consumer. It requires a taxable person upon registering with the Federal Board of Inland Revenue
to charge and collect VAT at a flat rate of 5% of all invoiced amounts of taxable goods and services.
VAT paid by a business on purchases is known as input tax, which is recovered from VAT charged
on company s sales, known as output tax. If output exceeds input in any particular month the
excess is remitted to the Federal Board Of Inland Revenue (FBIR) but where input exceeds output
the taxpayer is entitled to a refund of the excess from FBIR though in practice this is not always
possible.
A Taxpayer however has the option of recovering excess input from excess output of a subsequent
period. It should be stated at this point that recoverable input is limited to VAT on goods imported

A Worn Path Phoenix Jackson Obstacles Analysis
In A Worn Path by Eudora Welty the protagonist, Phoenix Jackson is on a quest to go to town.
Jackson faces many obstacles in her way. The first obstacle is a hill; at her old age she mentions
how Something always take a hold of me [her] on his hill informing the reader that she has gone
up this hill plenty of times to know that it is a challenge (Welty 457). She then faces an
aggressive dog that makes her fall in a ditch. A white man comes and helps her up and ask her

she made such a quest. The nurse asks Jackson why she had come to the doctor s office and

Shades of a White Man
What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties, in form and moving
how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god.
(Shakespeare) Humans were born pure, humble and humane. Politics, science, conflicts and the
innate desire for dominance change who we are, and who we ultimately aspire to be. The
culture we are born into, too, affects who we are in a rather dramatic way; it contributes
significantly in writing the script of a person s life. George Orwell was born into a culture of
white men, a culture that believes in dominance and superiority, a culture that steps on whoever
stands in its way. Imperialism was that culture; the culture that Orwell was influenced by, and
suffered from. From my perspective, I believe that even though George Orwell claimed that he
was against the imperialist, British culture; I was all for the Burmese and against their
oppressors, the British (Orwell, Shooting an Elephant, par. 2), he was an imperialist in disguise,
and had always been one. He was a unique imperialist, one who had morals and ethical
obligations, which seemingly resulted in his lifelong misery, since it would not naturally align
with the culture he belongs to. Orwell was not a perfect white man, yet he was one. Imperialism
is a state of mind, a certain way of looking at people and life. The imperialist culture is a selfish
one; it imprints a seal on all of its descendants, thus creating masters out of

The Symbolism Of A High End Luxury Brand
The typical impression someone leaves are often the first impression. Judgement based on
appearance is not a new concept. Scientifically proven, it takes a set amount of three seconds to
determine the type of impression the subject leaves. In those three seconds, appearance can be
based on physical looks and/or materialistic items. The symbolism of a high end luxury brand
can imply the social standing of a certain individual as well as their physical appearance. It is an
invitation for society to judge ones appearance and attitude, solely based upon what type of
brand they wear and how they look. In the concept of appearance, most people use their
appearance as a tool to express their own individualized style. With having individualized style, it
works hand in hand with using fashion as a way to identify ones social standing. As trends come
and go, there are dedicated advocates of certain styles. Those advocates might relate to that style
by dressing in various different outfits that can be jumbled up into a certain category. However,
there are a few individuals that have certain looks that sets them apart from the crowd. For
example, in the mid 1960 s, British teenage model, Twiggy, created a marketable style of an
androgynous look consisting of large eyes, long eyelashes, and short hair. That became her
trademark and caused an uprising in her career as a significant pioneer in the fashion industry. Her
appearance created a whole new way of using a trademark as a way of

Let s look at the results of this survey. All of the Republican voters believe that it is acceptable for

whose beliefs on spankingare quite evident only 13.86 of them agree with spanking while the rest, a
whopping 86.14 percent, do not agree with spanking their children. Do you notice a trend here? As

This is because they carry their liberal ideas with them into other aspects of their life such as how
they punish their children. Also, the fact that America has gradually become more and more liberal
and has implemented liberal legislation into its government since then also explains why most
liberals don t use corporal punishment, which is because they believe that corporal punishment is
outdated. Another trend: since those who vote for Hillary Clinton carry their tolerance and
empathy with them beyond the voting posts also tend to believe that corporal punishment is old
fashioned, they will most likely not believe in using corporal punishment to discipline their
children. All of these different trends make it possible to explain how who a person votes for

Kingdom Of God Research Paper
What is the meaning of the term kingdom of God?
The Kingdom of God is one of the key components of the teachings of Jesus in the New Testament.
Drawing on Old Testament teachings, the Christian characterization of the relationship in the
middle of God and humankind innately includes the thought of the Kingship of God. The Old
Testament alludes to God as the Judge of all and the idea that all people will in the long run be
judged is a key component of Christian teachings.
What are the traditional facts about God?
God is regularly considered as the Supreme Being and essential object of faith. He is the maker
and sustainer of the universe, while in deism, He is the inventor, however not the sustainer, of the
universe. Monotheism is the confidence in the presence of one God or in the unity of Him. In
polytheism, He is the universe itself. In godlessness, He is indicated not to exist, while esteemed
obscure or mysterious inside the connection of skepticism. He has additionally been considered as
being spiritual, an individual being, the wellspring of all ethical commitment, and the best possible

Internal And External Conflicts In The Time Of The Doves
MercГЁ Rodoreda s immersive novel, The Time of the Doves, presents numerous realistic
conflicts and their effects on an ordinary citizen. Natalia, the protagonist, is challenged with
several internal and external conflicts that range from an inability to express herself to a war
fueled famine. Rodoreda uses personal experience, as well as knowledge of the typical female role
during the Spanish Civil Warto add a personal outlook on the conflicts she presents. Natalia s
internal conflicts are compelling, and can be applied to a large portion of women, in the past and
today. As for the external conflict, Natalia s sufferings with the effects of warcan be applied on a
cultural level to most of Spain, during the Civil war, and universally to any war struck country.
Throughout the novel Natalia is challenged with several internal conflicts, many of which
originate from external conflict with her husband, Quimet. Natalia is a meek, mild, young
woman in the beginning of the novel, It was hard for me to say no if someone asked me to do
something (15). Quimet juxtaposes Natalia s personality in almost every way, he is obsessive,
possessive, and controlling, ...and said if I wanted to be his wife I had to start liking everything
he liked (22). Quimet persuades her to marry him and leave her fiancГ©, Pere. He often
challenges Natalia s confidence and persuades her to do and agree to things she is uncomfortable
with, creating internal conflicts for Natalia s inability to protest or decline. For instance, Natalia
does not want Quimet to build the dovecote and raise the doves, but does not possess the adequate
confidence to voice her opinion. Natalia is generally unable to convey her feelings of rage and
discontent to the other characters, she often remarks on her difficulty to verbally express herself to
the audience.
Many factors of Natalia s life also create external conflict, most prominently the famine caused by
the war, she struggles to keep her children fed and is plagued with guilt, I had two mouths to feed
and nothing to put in them. I can t describe how sad it was (134). Natalia is eventually forced to
make drastic decisions to try to spare her children, including sending her son, Antoni, to a children s

Asian Americans have been part of America for almost as long as its existence. From the Chinese

have helped build the agriculture communities around the country, Asian American have
contributed to the industries and economy of America. Despite their loyalty and contributions to
this country, Asian Americans have been discriminated and considered as unassimilable by many
Americans. Racism toward Asian is further extended by Hollywood s use of yellow face, where

As the popularity of Fu Manchu increased, Hollywood was quick to take advantage and portray this
character as a threat to white supremacy.
According to Eugene Franklin Wong s The Early Years: Asians in the American Films Prior to

BECAUSE I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT the Chinese... I know something about Chinatown. But
that is a different matter. (Wong, 57) This presented a problem as the whole perception of Dr. Fu
Manchu was based on generalization and ignorance. Unfortunately, ignorance of Asian culture
became the root of Asian characters in motion pictures. The ambiguity and general facelessness of
Asian characters and communities lead to the creation of a low budget film called Chan is Missing

why he is missing. (Marchetti, 53)

Essay On Good Vs Evil Archetypes
Most stories, movies, and myths have the simple archetype of Good vs. Evil. This particular
archetype can often be confusing, because in stories the reader is often lead to believe that
something or someone represents good or evil, but it does not. More often than not the evil
character is either crazy or was raised wrongly. Evil characters in Good vs. Evil stories are often not
truly evil but either mental unstable or not taught right from wrong.
The entirety of the Inheritance series is based on two archetypes, Good vs. Evil and Man vs. Man.
These two archetypes are the underlying archetypes. Each book also has its own archetypes that

The hallway resembles that of any other campus building aside from the dusty footprints leading
the way to the ceramics room, the sounds of a metals foundry, and occasionally the reached smell

few years in between, the room numbering is not always easy to navigate. However, being an art

Chastity In The Canterbury Tales
Through the union of thirty four pilgrims on their journey to Canterbury for absolution, Chaucer
pens the tales and interactions of the pilgrims of various ranks and ecclesiastic affiliation. He
negotiates a social hierarchy different from that of the current governing structure through his acute
understanding of the behaviors, beliefs, and pretenses that cemented such order. Chaucer s
microcosm of caricaturized hierarchies criticizes the current social order defining the late 1300s,
exposes the decadence of the disintegrating social structure, and hints at his idyllic version of a
more correct institution. To understand Chaucer s lampoonery, it is imperative to understand the
current rankings and privilege from whence he came. Born to a... Show more content on

When the supporting cast of women effort for mastery over their husbands; they abandon it the
moment they attain it. In an era where chastity was expected and cherished, the Wife of Bath
presents a refreshing alternative to such concepts. She boasts of her sexual proclivity and
contends that male genitalia serves a greater purpose than simply urination. Her freeness in
indulging in sexual activity and her multiple spouses speaks to her inner confidence and lack of
privacy. Her character discusses the power relations between men and women and posits that
women desire domination and control over men ( The Wife of Bath s Tale , 229); however, the
domination that they crave is surface level in that women relapse into their subordinate stereotypes
once they have been granted such control. In an analogous vein, the Nun s Priest Tale offers a
varied stance from feminist s push for coexisting powers if not complete domination. When
Chanticleer confides in his dear Pertelote about his premonition, she dismisses his qualms and
accuses him of cowardice. Her desire for a courageous mate parallels men s objectification of
women and exposes the equally one dimensional consideration given to

for sustainable profitability. In the restaurant industry, MacDonald s corporation has developed
specific strategies that have made it become the pacesetter for other companies. As the industry
becomes more competitive, Macdonald s corporation needs to balance its business level strategies
and corporate level strategies. This paper analyses the business level and corporate strategies

Strict Franchising and Licensing Agreements
Macdonald s offers a strict, but mutually beneficial franchising and licensing agreements that have
a term of 20 years (McDonald s, 2014). Before an individual obtains a franchise or a licensing
opportunity, a careful scrutiny of the restaurant location must conform to expectation of future
growth of the business. The scrutiny ensures long term profitability of the restaurant. The process
of setting up a restaurant is very thorough. The franchising and licensing agreement allows the
corporation to have enough cash for further expansion. Expansion creates dominance and goes a

Are Different Forms Of Discipline More Useful Or Harmful...
Discipline is an act by which children learn standards of acceptable behavior and repercussions
that they can apply towards greater independence. Although verbal discipline is generally
recognized as being more appropriate for children, it may also carry emotionally damaging
effects if practiced irresponsibly. Physical discipline is seen to be an unacceptable solution,
because of the physical and emotional risks to the child. The goal of effective discipline is to
ensure acceptable and appropriate behavior in children and to raise mature adults who will make
great decisions in life. So, are physical and verbal forms of discipline more helpful or harmful to
children?
Discipline is a word that many people including adults and children do not fully understand. Kids
see discipline as punishment when they are told that they are bad or if they receive physical harm.
Punishment can be positive when there is an added behavior, or negative when there is a behavior
that is taken away. For example, a positive form of punishment is if a parent gives a child his or her
favorite snack in order for them to remember to use the phrases please and thank you in their
everyday language. A negative punishment is if a child misbehaves in school and get his or her
toys taken away. On the contrary, discipline is about guiding and teaching children so that they will
make good decisions and learn to control themselves. Discipline offers the child an opportunity to
do the right thing, and it

Analysis Of Metales Y Derivados By Lourdes
Throughout the documentary, Lourdes fights to clean up the 6,000 tons of lead slag at the
abandoned factory, Metales y Derivados (De La Torre Funari, 2006, 27:02). When the factory was
shut down, toxic chemicals like sulfuric acid, cadmium, plastic, and lead (De La Torre Funari,
2006, 27:52) were left exposed to the elements and the surrounding community. To clean Metales y
Derivados, it would take millions of dollars money that the promotoras and Mexican government
does not have (De La Torre Funari, 2006, 29:30). Lourdes s effort does pay off to some extent: once

She believes that the cheap labor model of the maquiladora industry can be ethical. That idea is
not guaranteed the hierarchal structure of the factories is a strong force. They provide jobs to
those who are in need; maquiladoras changed everything because they paid better wages than the
rest of Mexico (De La Torre Funari, 2006, 1:48). By accumulating workers and treating them like
commodities, maquiladoras continue the cycle of abuse and degradation of their workers. The
ideology and hierarchy that surrounds maquiladoras is a long way from change since to treat a
disposable worker as if she were not disposable would be silly and irrational (Wright, 2006, p.5).
In the factory setting, there is no motion to change the status of women. The status quo is
essential for its operation. The flexible Mexican male worker only materializes in tandem with
the inflexible female one (Wright, 2006, p.52). While men are dependent on female workers, they
also institute concepts that keep them in a devalued space. This is an elevation of the agent
(men) over female agency. In the factories, men are seen as capable of flexible trained work and
women are divorced from the ability of their bodies. Wright (2006) identifies this structure this as
the prosthetic body of supervision (p.46). The emphasis on the male mind gives man purpose in the
maquiladoras; women have accepted man s sovereignty... [and] emerged as the inessential

Although the United States government spends $176 billion on hunger programs every year, there
are currently more than 46 million Americans going hungry every day. In the U.S. every county,

is a rapid increase in the number of hungry Americans and the issue is quickly becoming
problematic. Today one in six Americans participate in one or more of the fifteen nutrition

have begun to question what hungerreally is, what all the programs actually do, and what their
results are.

Climbers Persuasive Speech

the helicopter reaching out to the distressed climber, but all of a sudden you fall down thousands
and thousands of feet to your death. You just risked your life to save someone who was not ready.
People putting their lives at stake for someone who was not ready is not acceptable.
The cost to rescue someone is unbelievable. According to Nick Heil The B3 cost about $2
million apiece and quite expensive to operate (Van, line 54 56) This means that for every rescue
they carry out means more money they need to pay the bill but they also need to make a profit.
Also, Robert Siegel stated, Is a part of the issue here that these rescue choppers give climbers a

risks. That statement talks about how climbers feel safe because they know they are going to get

The Use Of Electronic Media And Social Media
Social media also known as electronic media has become ubiquitous for teenagers and has been
exponentially increasing. Communication which once was in person or by telephone now can be
done online without physical contact or connection. Adolescents spend countless hours of their
lives attached to devices with the intent of communicating with others, sharing their daily lives,

building a body of knowledge on how to deal with these significant life events, and certain illnesses,
and was passed on from generation to generation. Treatments included herbs, spices, oils, foods,
body treatments and manipulations, mediation and many other items through trial and error and

areas. Some examples of these are; surgery, dermatology, anesthesiology, neurology, obstetrics,
gynecology, drug synthesis, radiology, chemotherapy, drug therapy, genetic counseling, organ

symptoms and not necessarily the root causes of health complications. As can be seen in the list

specific body system or even a single organ. The focus has shifted from treating the person as a
unit to treating each organ and system individually. Treatments nowadays often involves drugs
that help treat symptoms but really do nothing to treat the cause. An example of this can be
explained through the following scenario: A patient comes to a doctor with back problems and
severe pain in the lower lumbar area. The first reaction is to treat the symptoms and prescribe
pain relief drugs to ease the patient s discomfort. While this may be effective for a short period of
time, eventually the effect of the tablets wear off due to an increased tolerance. If the underlying
cause of back pain such as mis alignment , pinched nerves3, stress or tensed muscle is not

Understanding Of Mpm And Measuring Improvement Essay
RESEARCH PROPOSAL Study objective: Understanding of MPM and measuring improvement in
store sales . INTRODUCTION Retail enterprise is a kind of commercial enterprise with high level
of competition. The success of retail business depends on how fast can a retailer recognize
consumer behavior and buying pattern. Retail business must focus on the factor affecting consumer
buying pattern and elements that shifts customers buying decision. Store atmospheric attributes
(which include shade, lighting fixtures, income personnel, music and so on) shape the general
context within which shoppers make decisions of store selection and patronage. Many of the
previous research on retail environment suggests that such attributes affect the image of the store.
Retailers comprehend the significance of such attributes and systematically attempt to avail of an
atmosphere, inclusive of suitable colors, music and so on that will attract their target customers.
Further, purchase decision making has emerge as complicated task due to the inseparability of
product and services offered in retail outlets. Retail store floor planning is a complicated task. The
essential objective is to maximize sales with customer satisfaction and minimize overall prices.

Criminal Profiling And The Law Enforcement
Criminal profiling is the investigative profession that is used to help the law enforcement and the
government agencies to pursue unknown perpetrators. It objectively seeks to identify the major
personality and the behavioral characteristics of the serial offenders based on a thorough analysis
of the crimes committed. It includes the combination of the analysis of the physical and the
behavioral evidence. This study aims at analyzing criminal profiling on the basis of its basic
elements and its use in law enforcement. The documented history of criminal profiling is traced
back to the publication of the Malleus Maleficarum, a text from the 1400s; it was written by
contractors of the early Roman Catholic Church for the purpose of identifying and eradicating
witches (Geberth 23). Despite the fact that it was based on the author s speculation and the
religious dogma during that time, it was one of the first systematic methods that was used in the
identification and creation of inferences concerning the guilty individuals. The modern criminal
profiling was officially inaugurated by the FBI behavioral science unit after several cases of mass
homicides were observed in the U.S in the 1960s. The apparent increase in the homicides during
this time created a demand on the investigators from the public to solve these crimes using
expeditious ways (Geberth 43). This increased the pressure, the pressure on the investigators to use
the possible resources to track down on the suspects.

The Importance Of Environmental Conservation
Numerous sensitization campaigns have been launched, all over the world, with the aim of
promoting awareness of the rising cases of ecological destruction. These campaigns have not only
targeted human activities but also business operations. Shaw (22), highlights the major
environmental challenges faced in the modern world; most notoriously, water and air pollution,
which he says, kills crops and vegetation, damages the ozone layer and threatens people s lives and
health. Businesses play a massive role in contributing towards ecological damage. According to
Shaw (22), businesses damage the environment when they take natural resources from the earth and
dispose of waste (4). Most sensitization campaigns, however, argue on environmental conservation
from a humaninterest perspective. Shaw, for example, states that industrial chemicals harm animals
and plants which consequently causes poisoning and possible death to human beings (75). This
article, therefore, aims at establishing that, apart from their interest to human beings, plants and
animal s rightsshould also be conserved for their own sole interest.
As argued by Torley, every animal and non animal member of the ecosystem has its own share of
rights that ensure it is protected against harm or damage which, as Torley adds, are natural and not
obsolete. A right is defined as the entitlement to possess, utilize or freely do something (Taylor 13).
According to Torley, most countries only recognize the moral rights of the

Drug Reactions Of The Elderly Population Greater Than 65...
Polypharmacy is an emerging problem that has drastically increased in the past 20 years
(Alpert, 2015). This is a huge problem in the elderly population greater than 65 years old
because this group is more likely to have been diagnosed with multiple conditions that require
many different medications. Other reasons include the increasing availability of newer
medications that treat more than one condition, the elderly who are known to be on multiple
pills a day, and providers prescribing more than one drug to aggressively treat chronic conditions
(Alpert, 2015). About 44% of men and 57% of women greater than 65 years of age take five or
more medications in a week, about 10% of both men and women take more than ten pills each
week (Woodruff, 2010). The main concern about having the elderly on so many medications at
once is the chance of adverse drug reactions from potential drug interactions. They can be on both
prescribed medications and over the counter medications, vitamins, or supplements. The most
common over the counter medications that often lead to serious adverse drug reactions include
acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and aspirin (Woodruff, 2010). Another reason that the elderly are more
susceptible to adverse drug reactions is the fat and water composition changes, they have
increased fat storage and decreased total body water, this allows for higher concentration of water
soluble drugs and longer half lives of fat soluble drugs (Woodruff, 2010). Changes in the liver and

For both interspecific and intraspecific competition the radish did its best however at the lowest
density of 32. (Figure 1) These results did support our hypothesis that the lower the density the
better the growth and the radish would thrive better at intraspecific competition however was
refuted with us predicting that wheat would do better in interspecific competition. These results can
possibly be explained by the idea of density dependent growth meaning that as you increase
population, resources such as light, soil, and water decrease and vice versa (Walsh and Walsh
2015). Also a possible explanation for our results is that the radish shoots were longer, taller,

The Glass Menagerie By Tennessee Williams
In literature, stories traditionally revolve around a main protagonist, whom the fate of the other
characters rests upon. The protagonist is often expected to struggle and bear important duties in
order to achieve success. The main antagonist, on the other hand, is usually responsible for the
struggles that the protagonist must overcome, and serves as a threat to the characters. The
character of Tom in Tennessee Williams
play, The Glass Menagerie, serves as a flawed protagonist.
He bears the heavy responsibility of supporting his family, but also struggles against the boredom
and stress of his everyday life. Despite his positive traits, he clearly shows contempt for each of his
family members, and longs for adventure away from them. Tom s father, whom is only mentioned
by the characters, can be considered an antagonist. His abandonment of his family led to the many
difficulties that Tom, Laura, and Amanda face. As such, he burdens the family and ultimately has
influence on Tom s decision to leave them. Williams uses various literary devices to enhance the
theme that one must act without pity in order to escape life s struggles. The Glass Menagerie
takes place in St. Louis, in 1937. The main protagonist, Tom, works in a shoe factory, and his only
source of enjoyment is writing poetry and watching movies. His sister, Laura, is a crippled woman
with little confidence in herself. Their mother, Amanda, attempts to secure a safe future for Laura,
but is ineffective in raising

  • 3. Why Should Animals Be Kept In Zoos There have been many discussions about the welfare of animals since the first zoos were created. Some people agree that animals should be kept in zoo s, they argue that it benefits the animals because their every need is catered to. However, in some zoo s they are treated the exact opposite of being catered to. Sometimes the animals are also deprived of a natural environment that the zoo s fail to recreate. However, zoo s can be helpful educationally to kids. It gives them a close up on the beauty of the animals, but it comes at the animals expense. Many people argue that they should be allowed to be kept in the small enclosures because they are well taken care of. This isn t the case. They may be healthy physically from being in a small enclosure, and not having any responsibilities besides getting up to eat or drink, but they are being destroyed mentally. Their enclosures are too small for them to have a normal life. Animals should have adequate space to live and raise their offspring, which means that the animal has enough space to perform its natural functions, happily. Zoo s do not allow animals the proper space that they need, thus causing many issues. For example, zoo enclosures for polar bears are one millionth the size of its range in the wild, which can reach up to 31,000 square miles. In addition, cramped enclosures for elephants create stress and dangerous situations. This is mainly because they are forced to be in close quarters with other elephants that may ... • 5. Passive Solar Heatinging Is Based On The Principles Of... Passive solar heating The principle of passive solar heating is based on the collection of short wave solar radiation in (building) mass that in return disperses long wave heat radiation that can be used for space heating. Earth coupling The general idea behind earth coupling is to take advantage of the earth s large thermal storage capacity. Ground temperatures are quite stable at relatively small depths and are quite similar to the local annual average ambient temperature. Near the surface ground temperatures are more influenced by dynamic ambient conditions. Night sky cooling The effective temperature of a sky at night is typically much lower than ambient conditions. Therefore buildings cool down at night by radiating heat to the sky. This phenomenon also occurs during daytime but is then levelled out by solar radiation. Natural air cooling Natural air flows can be used to remove unwanted heat from a building by flushing the building with large volumes of (cool) air. Natural air cooling is based upon the natural ventilation principle of cross ventilation: openings on both sides of the building allow natural occurring winds to pass through the building carrying the heat along. Evaporative cooling Evaporative cooling is based on the fact that energy is needed for the evaporation of water. If this energy is withdrawn from the building, it will instantly cool down the building. Just the presence of groundwater or surface water will bring about a cooling effect on its direct ... • 6. Women In Beowulf Essay The Hero s of Beowulf After reading Beowulf, critics all over have disputed weather women in the book had a role in such a masculine and brutal environment and time period. The argument is most likely due to the hero being a male, thus minimizing woman s roles. Though their appearance is limited through out the play, we can discover they have significant importance still. In this essay, I will offer insight on several women and their significance in Beowulf, providing evidence of how they do serve a central role. A number of women revealed in the play are: Wealtheow, Hygd, Hildeburh, Freawaru, Thyrth and Grendal s mother. Within this elite group of women are two queens known as Hygd and Wealtheow. Both are wedded to kings which,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following Grendal s death, Wealtheow gives a celebratory speech to Hrothgar and then Beowulf. She makes sure that Beowulf does not become the heir, and tries to make Hrothulf inherit this position. This goes to show that she is looking out for herself by not letting someone from outside the family take over. Hrothgar does not have any further imput and does not dispute the suggestion, thus suggesting she has some influence on the king. When she addresses Beowulf, she tells him to accept the gift she gives to him. Through this gesture we can suggest that she is a great hostess. Also, in Old English, noble women tended to give gifts which showed reciprocity. To finish off her speech, she reveals confidence as she says the noble men, having drunk, will do as I ask. (652) This line strongly suggests her dominance in the kingdom. Yet again, we see political power among women when Hygd tries to pass the kingdom onto Beowulf. After his death, she steps in and tries to make important decisions that her late husband would have made. These examples all show that these women in the play are not benign at all. These women host men in the hall, give gifts, and even have a say in politics ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dahl wrote How Democratic Is the American Constitution? without the purpose to change our American Constitution but to adjust the way we think about it. Dahl raises the main question, Why should we feel bound today by a document produced more than two centuries ago by a group of fifty five mortal men, actually signed by only thirty nine, a fair number of whom were slaveholders, and adopted in only thirteen states by the votes of fewer than two thousand men, all of whom are long since dead and mainly forgotten (Dahl, 2001, page 2)? Dahl changed my entire perception of the Constitution and even made me appreciate it more. Now, I know that the framers did not have a set example of a successful form of government to base the constitution off of nor could they predict the future. That goes to show how smart the framers were to be able to create such a brilliant and resourceful constitution in the period of time that they did, along with the knowledge and technology of their time period. I was also unaware of how the United States compared to other democratic countries. For example, from 1992 95 100% of countries were performing better than the US in the topic of foreign aid. • 12. Shades of a White Man What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like a god. (Shakespeare) Humans were born pure, humble and humane. Politics, science, conflicts and the innate desire for dominance change who we are, and who we ultimately aspire to be. The culture we are born into, too, affects who we are in a rather dramatic way; it contributes significantly in writing the script of a person s life. George Orwell was born into a culture of white men, a culture that believes in dominance and superiority, a culture that steps on whoever stands in its way. Imperialism was that culture; the culture that Orwell was influenced by, and suffered from. From my perspective, I believe that even though George Orwell claimed that he was against the imperialist, British culture; I was all for the Burmese and against their oppressors, the British (Orwell, Shooting an Elephant, par. 2), he was an imperialist in disguise, and had always been one. He was a unique imperialist, one who had morals and ethical obligations, which seemingly resulted in his lifelong misery, since it would not naturally align with the culture he belongs to. Orwell was not a perfect white man, yet he was one. Imperialism is a state of mind, a certain way of looking at people and life. Scientifically proven, it takes a set amount of three seconds to determine the type of impression the subject leaves. In those three seconds, appearance can be based on physical looks and/or materialistic items. The symbolism of a high end luxury brand can imply the social standing of a certain individual as well as their physical appearance. It is an invitation for society to judge ones appearance and attitude, solely based upon what type of brand they wear and how they look. In the concept of appearance, most people use their appearance as a tool to express their own individualized style. With having individualized style, it works hand in hand with using fashion as a way to identify ones social standing. As trends come and go, there are dedicated advocates of certain styles. Those advocates might relate to that style by dressing in various different outfits that can be jumbled up into a certain category. However, there are a few individuals that have certain looks that sets them apart from the crowd. For example, in the mid 1960 s, British teenage model, Twiggy, created a marketable style of an androgynous look consisting of large eyes, long eyelashes, and short hair. That became her trademark and caused an uprising in her career as a significant pioneer in the fashion industry. Her appearance created a whole new way of using a trademark as a way of ... Some of the windows have curtains, but others offer a glimpse into classrooms and artists studios; where people can be seen striving to develop the next revolutionary art piece. In front of the building sprawls a grassy field littered haphazardly with large abstract sculptures and accent trees. The back of the building is somewhat of a visual juxtaposition to the front. Entering the building and walking down the white cinder block hallway, one could easily forget that they are in a building specifically built for creative minds. The hallway resembles that of any other campus building aside from the dusty footprints leading the way to the ceramics room, the sounds of a metals foundry, and occasionally the reached smell of burning acrylic emanating from the distance. Discipline is an act by which children learn standards of acceptable behavior and repercussions that they can apply towards greater independence. Although verbal discipline is generally recognized as being more appropriate for children, it may also carry emotionally damaging effects if practiced irresponsibly. Physical discipline is seen to be an unacceptable solution, because of the physical and emotional risks to the child. The goal of effective discipline is to ensure acceptable and appropriate behavior in children and to raise mature adults who will make great decisions in life. So, are physical and verbal forms of discipline more helpful or harmful to children? Discipline is a word that many people including adults and children do not fully understand. Kids see discipline as punishment when they are told that they are bad or if they receive physical harm. Punishment can be positive when there is an added behavior, or negative when there is a behavior that is taken away. For example, a positive form of punishment is if a parent gives a child his or her favorite snack in order for them to remember to use the phrases please and thank you in their everyday language. A negative punishment is if a child misbehaves in school and get his or her toys taken away. You just risked your life to save someone who was not ready. People putting their lives at stake for someone who was not ready is not acceptable. The cost to rescue someone is unbelievable. • 39. Criminal Profiling And The Law Enforcement Criminal profiling is the investigative profession that is used to help the law enforcement and the government agencies to pursue unknown perpetrators. It objectively seeks to identify the major personality and the behavioral characteristics of the serial offenders based on a thorough analysis of the crimes committed. It includes the combination of the analysis of the physical and the behavioral evidence. This study aims at analyzing criminal profiling on the basis of its basic elements and its use in law enforcement. The documented history of criminal profiling is traced back to the publication of the Malleus Maleficarum, a text from the 1400s; it was written by contractors of the early Roman Catholic Church for the purpose of identifying and eradicating witches (Geberth 23). Despite the fact that it was based on the author s speculation and the religious dogma during that time, it was one of the first systematic methods that was used in the identification and creation of inferences concerning the guilty individuals. The modern criminal profiling was officially inaugurated by the FBI behavioral science unit after several cases of mass homicides were observed in the U.S in the 1960s. The apparent increase in the homicides during this time created a demand on the investigators from the public to solve these crimes using expeditious ways (Geberth 43). This increased the pressure, the pressure on the investigators to use the possible resources to track down on the suspects. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Importance Of Environmental Conservation Numerous sensitization campaigns have been launched, all over the world, with the aim of promoting awareness of the rising cases of ecological destruction. These campaigns have not only targeted human activities but also business operations. Shaw (22), highlights the major environmental challenges faced in the modern world; most notoriously, water and air pollution, which he says, kills crops and vegetation, damages the ozone layer and threatens people s lives and health. Businesses play a massive role in contributing towards ecological damage. According to Shaw (22), businesses damage the environment when they take natural resources from the earth and dispose of waste (4). Most sensitization campaigns, however, argue on environmental conservation from a humaninterest perspective. Shaw, for example, states that industrial chemicals harm animals and plants which consequently causes poisoning and possible death to human beings (75). This article, therefore, aims at establishing that, apart from their interest to human beings, plants and animal s rightsshould also be conserved for their own sole interest. As argued by Torley, every animal and non animal member of the ecosystem has its own share of rights that ensure it is protected against harm or damage which, as Torley adds, are natural and not obsolete. A right is defined as the entitlement to possess, utilize or freely do something (Taylor 13). According to Torley, most countries only recognize the moral rights of the ... • 42. Drug Reactions Of The Elderly Population Greater Than 65... Polypharmacy is an emerging problem that has drastically increased in the past 20 years (Alpert, 2015). This is a huge problem in the elderly population greater than 65 years old because this group is more likely to have been diagnosed with multiple conditions that require many different medications. Other reasons include the increasing availability of newer medications that treat more than one condition, the elderly who are known to be on multiple pills a day, and providers prescribing more than one drug to aggressively treat chronic conditions (Alpert, 2015). About 44% of men and 57% of women greater than 65 years of age take five or more medications in a week, about 10% of both men and women take more than ten pills each week (Woodruff, 2010). The main concern about having the elderly on so many medications at once is the chance of adverse drug reactions from potential drug interactions. They can be on both prescribed medications and over the counter medications, vitamins, or supplements. The most common over the counter medications that often lead to serious adverse drug reactions include acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and aspirin (Woodruff, 2010). Another reason that the elderly are more susceptible to adverse drug reactions is the fat and water composition changes, they have increased fat storage and decreased total body water, this allows for higher concentration of water soluble drugs and longer half lives of fat soluble drugs (Woodruff, 2010). Changes in the liver and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Intraspecific Competition Lab Report This experiment was performed to give a better idea of interspecific competition and intraspecific competition between radish seeds and wheat seeds at high and low densities. By planting two species only pots and two combined species pots our results showed that the radish seeds performed better at both interspecific and intraspecific competitions and concluded that the lower the pot density the more resources and growth. 32 radish seeds were evenly planted in pot A1 followed by 32 wheat seeds planted in pot A2 and 16 of each radish and wheat seeds combined (32 total) planted in pot AB1. These results can possibly be explained by the idea of density dependent growth meaning that as you increase population, resources such as light, soil, and water decrease and vice versa (Walsh and Walsh 2015). Also a possible explanation for our results is that the radish shoots were longer, taller, more in number versus the wheat shoots that were short, broad and few in number. The theory of allocating more roots if the there is less sun and bigger shots if there is less nutrient rich soil is shown in the experiment of intraspecific and interspecific competition of beans, in the end that beans that had more competition and the soil was poor had bigger leaves at the expense of its neighbors (Mania et al. ... • 44. The Glass Menagerie By Tennessee Williams In literature, stories traditionally revolve around a main protagonist, whom the fate of the other characters rests upon. The protagonist is often expected to struggle and bear important duties in order to achieve success. The main antagonist, on the other hand, is usually responsible for the struggles that the protagonist must overcome, and serves as a threat to the characters. The character of Tom in Tennessee Williams play, The Glass Menagerie, serves as a flawed protagonist. He bears the heavy responsibility of supporting his family, but also struggles against the boredom and stress of his everyday life. Despite his positive traits, he clearly shows contempt for each of his family members, and longs for adventure away from them. Tom s father, whom is only mentioned by the characters, can be considered an antagonist. His abandonment of his family led to the many difficulties that Tom, Laura, and Amanda face. As such, he burdens the family and ultimately has influence on Tom s decision to leave them. Williams uses various literary devices to enhance the theme that one must act without pity in order to escape life s struggles. The Glass Menagerie takes place in St. Louis, in 1937. The main protagonist, Tom, works in a shoe factory, and his only source of enjoyment is writing poetry and watching movies. His sister, Laura, is a crippled woman with little confidence in herself.
