The Brave Sister in In the Time of the Butterflies by...
Minerva Mirabal was a heroine because she was brave. Minerva Mirabal is a heroine from the book In
the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez. There were four
Mirabal sisters, Patria, Dede, Minerva, and Maria Teresa. The Mirabal sisters stood up for what was
right even if it was against the dictator, Trujillo. Patria, Minerva, and
Maria Teresa were killed by Trujillo s orders, leaving Dede as the only surviving
Mirabal sister. Minerva Mirabal was a heroine because she stood up for what she believed in, she was
outspoken, and she was the bravest sister.

She was a hero to Sinita. Minerva announced, My hands freed, I saved the day, according to what
Sinita had said later. (Alvarez 22)
Minerva was outspoken at the performance at her school and kept Sinita from getting in a lot of
trouble. Minerva argued, I m not interested in admirers until I have my law degree. (Alvarez 66)
Minerva was independent and did not care what anyone else thought. She cared about her education
and was outspoken because she knew what she wanted to do. To be outspoken and stand up you must
also be brave.
Minerva was a heroine because she was the bravest sister. Minerva is hearing
Sinita s story about Trujillo and she can hardly bear it, I started crying, but I pinched my arms to stop.
I had to be brave for Sinita. (Alvarez 17) She tried to be there for other people and listen to their
problems no matter how hard it was for her. Minerva explained the story of Trujillo dancing with her,
He yanks me by the wrist, thrusting his pelvis at me in a vulgar way, and I can see my hand in an
endless slow motion rise a mind all its own and come down on the astonished, made up face. (Alvarez
67) Minerva did not like the way Trujillo was treating her, and instead of bowing down to his
authority, she stood up for herself, which took courage.
Minerva convinced herself to take a risk, But I m so sure I can beat him now that I know his secret. I ll

Cold Blood Is A Book By Truman Capote
In Cold Blood is a book written by Truman Capote. It s a non fictional book written in the style of a
creative fictional book. The story follows two criminals, Dick and Perry, after they ve murdered four
members of the Clutter family. The already experienced murderers make sure to leave no evidence,
clues, or traces to them in the crime scene. As investigators attempt to figure out the mystery of the
Clutter family murders, Dick and Perry make their way to Mexico until they get found out and get
taken to prison. After several years and trials, the duo are given the ultimate punishment. Because this
novel is a real story, Capote has to make sure the readers get all the details from the actual event. Just
like any other journalism from the newspaper or the TV news report, these details can get tedious and
boring. When writing this book, Capote had the intention of giving the story a creative style that
would capture the reader as any fictional book would. And so, the challenge for Capote would be how
to mix his writing style between realistic and at the same time creatively intriguing. At the start of the
story, Truman Capote has the intention to make sure the reader gets deeply invested into the
environment of the story. He wants us to feel the realistic tone of the story that it s following. In order
to do so, he creates a lot of buildup to the scenery before any major events crop up. Before the main
murder of the Clutter family occurs, Capote spends a decent amount of

Sportsmanship And Sportsmanship Of A Team
Sportsmanship All athletes can recognize that being a part of a team is hard. It is incredibly difficult to
select a group of teenagers that will (1) all get along, (2) work together seamlessly, and (3) respect
their coaches. The formula for the perfect team is unknowable. One negative spirit always exists to
drag the team down, to deflate their motives and increase their egos; but that does not have any effect
on the sportsmanship of a team. Sportsmanship does not rely on the cohesiveness of a team. It does
not correlate with how many bonding trips a team endures or how many groups of friends are on the
team. It is not entirely internal or entirely external. Sportsmanship is not simply the willingness of an
athlete to respect other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, attitudes and jealousy grew. We dominated over other JV2 teams on the court, due to the
lack of completion rather than our skill; but we struggled in practice. None of us could figure out how
to work together. Not until our second tournament. The morning bus ride was quiet and unassuming.
Everyone sat separately and stared out their own windows, listening to their own music. Upon arrival,
we pulled up kneepads, put on out ankle braces, tied our shoes, and trudged onto the court for
warmup. Even with no energy, we won our first game, and the one after that, and the one after that.
First in our pool, yet there was no real celebration. Bracket play started and, finally, we met some
teams that actually challenged us. While energy started to rise, so did the attitudes. After actually
playing, for once, cockiness spread throughout the team. Then, after fighting our way past a small
team in bright red jerseys, a game won purely by luck and consistent serving, we found ourselves in
the championship game. Our final opponents hailed from one of those pretentious private school in
Portland. We had watched part of one of their games earlier, which did nothing to boost our
confidence. While most of them acted tough, our team was an accumulation of low self confidence
and highly neurotic girls. Psyched out by the mere height of the team (they had two six foot five

Thinnet Cable (10Base2):
Thinnet coaxial cable is connected using special connectors and requires to be terminated at each end
using a 50ohm resistor. 10Base2 stands for:
 Data transmission rate of 10Mbps, example: 10
 Uses baseband transmission, example: Base
 Used in Ethernet networks it has a maximum cable length of 185 metres, example: the 2 for
approximately 200 metres
Thinnet cables use a connector known as a BNC connector to make the connections between the
computers and the cables.
Thicknet Cable (10Base5):
Thicknet is very similar to thinnet, except for the additional layer of aluminium insulation and copper
braid. This makes the cable more reliable and rigid and means it is easier to be used for longer runs.
The bigger the copper core the, the further the distance the cable can carry signals. Thicknet can be
used sometimes as a backbone to connect several smaller thinnet based networks. 10Base5 stands for:
 Uses baseband transmitting, example: Base
 Data transmission rate of 10Mbps, example: 10
 Used in Ethernet networks, it has a maximum cable length of 500 metres, example: the 5 is for 500

This cable is connected using a device called a transceiver; it includes a piece of equipment that
pierces the cable to connect to it. The connector is known as a piercing tap.
Twisted Pair Cable: This cable is the most commonly used cable in computer networks. It is both
efficient and reliable. It is also cost effective which means it is not expensive. One

Motorola and Smartphones Essay
Motorola has finally made its way back into the market and this time with a bang. After the successful
launch of there budget smartphone Moto G in devloping markets, Motorola recently came up with
Moto X.
And that raised many eyebrows in blogosphere.
Does the Moto X have that in it to play the role of star performer?, a market which is powerfully ruled
by Samsung and now Sony. Lets find out!
OVERVIEW
The Moto X is indeed the best bet Motorola can ever make. With its massive evolution on design
strategies and understanding the importance of the form factor, Motorola proved that they are ready to
give the people what they really want. The Moto X is built on a stock android (Google experience), a

X has only single sim slot also another thing to make a note of is it does not have a removable back
panel also no micro SD expandability.
.
DISPLAY, MULTIMEDIAAND PERFORMANCE
Well at the end of the day Performance is what matters .
The Moto X comes with a 4.7 inch AMOLED display, which has a great outdoor visibility and takes
brightness to all new level. The display has excellent viewing angles and a contrast output. But as it is
Amoled display we do get that bluish tint.
The X can handle whatever type of media you throw at it, even after considering that it ranks low spec
sheet. You can playback full HD 1080p videos without even a single lag or stutter. The speakerphone
is not best in class but still it is fairly loud, and you won t require additional speakers. The 3.5 mm
jack has refined output.
The Moto X is designed to breathe Android, and device dies exactly that. No doubt when it comes to
hardware Moto X is unfortunately limited to only a dual core processor, an average user won t feel the
need of this. However if you are super user and stay glued to your smartphone 24*7 then Moto X is
not a handset you may be looking for.

History of the Refrigerator Essay
History of the Refrigerator
Back in time a long time ago, around 500 B.C. the Egyptians and Indians made ice on cold nights by
setting water out in earthenware pots and keeping the pots wet. In the 18th century England, servants
collected ice in the winter and put it into icehouses, where the sheets of ice were packed in salt,
wrapped in strips of flannel and stored underground to keep them frozen until summer. Before the
refrigerator or ice box was introduced people used snow and ice to keep their food cool, which was
either found locally or brought down from the mountains. Cellars and caves were also used to
refrigerate food. Meat and fish were preserved in warm weather by salting or smoking. The first

Compressed ether machines were built in Pennsylvania by Oliver Evans in 1805 and in Australia by
James Harrison in 1855, and Dr. John Gorrie in Florida built an expanding air cooling machine in
1844. In 1851 Dr. John Gorrie created the first commercial ice making machine to cool the air for his
yellow fever patients. Soon thereafter, refrigeration and freezing became popular methods of
preserving foods for transport or storage, and in place where natural ice was not available.
Refrigeration is the process of removing heat from an enclosed space, or from a substance, to lower its
temperature. A refrigerator uses the evaporation of a liquid to absorb heat. The liquid, or refrigerant
used in a refrigerator evaporates at an extremely low temperature creating freezing temperatures inside
the refrigerator.
William Cullen at the University of Glasgow demonstrated the first known artificial refrigeration in
1748. However, he did not use his discovery for any practical purpose. In 1805, an American inventor,
Oliver Evans, designed the first refrigerator machine.
The development of mechanical refrigeration systems began in the early19th century and arose mainly
from the needs of meat producers in the USA, South America, Australia and New Zealand, who were
facing many difficulties in shipping their produce to their export markers in Europe. Many
experimental systems were built in the 1830s, utilizing the cooling effect produced by the expansion

National Average of Gas Prices 2000 2001
In the beginning of the summer, when most people drive to vacation spots throughout the United
States, gas prices reached record highs. In June 2000, the national average was $1.68 per gallon and in
some larger cities; the prices soared to $2.00 and more per gallon (Facts.com, 2005). Americans were
furious not only because consumers were paying more at the pumps, but because rising fuel costs have
triggered inflation. Americans realized that if inflation began to rise, a recession could be triggered as
had occurred in the 1970 s and 1980 s (Facts.com, 2005).

Member nations of OPEC wanted high oil prices to support the fortunes of the ruling wealthy classes
and to provide huge public benefits for a the member nation s poverty stricken and unemployed
population (Steltzer, 2000).
Analysts Outlook for Oil Supplies in the Future Decades after 2000 2001
Some analysts claimed that the world s oil supply was decreasing so slowly that no concern was
warranted for future decades. These analysts used the oil crisis of the 1970 s as an example. Many
observers at that time predicted that because no new oil fields had been discovered the prices of oil
would rise to 100 dollars per barrel or more by the end of the decade, even though this increase never
did occur (Truby, 2000). Other critics felt that the oil price increase in 2000 was a bad indicator of
what the future held if changes were not made in the nation s energy infrastructure (Truby, 2000). The
fear was not that the nation would run out oil, but cheap oil. The terrorist attack on the Trade Center
was thought to have an impact on the oil prices, but due to decreases in interest rates to keep the
economy afloat, those increases never came to fruition.
Conclusion
Oil prices in the years 2000 2001 rose due to OPEC s decision to cut the supply of oil that was being
produced. Foreign relations with the United States did little to the price increase of

The Main Idea Of The Article The Aquinas Inquiry, Is To
The main idea of the article The Aquinas Inquiry, is to explain or kind of conclude what a medieval

already developed a set of six criteria which should be met in order for any war to be considered just.
The set of criteria will be used in this article to determine whether or not Tony Blair had just cause.

Iraq had not done this . The article suggests that Blair could ve argued that he did it because of 9/11
but without the evidence it could not be proven and he would not have just cause, but the panel could
take it into consideration if Y harmed Y s own people as being just cause. Likely outcome: The panel
initially divides evenly. After a stormy two hour meeting with Alastair Campbell in closed session,
Christine de Pisan leaves in tears and the panel votes 3 0 that Tony Blair did have Just Cause . The
third on the list is Right Intentions meaning that there was nothing to gain out of this, it wasn t for
personal reasons, and going into this there was good intentions. The panel members are on record as
believing that the aim of any war must be the achievement of peace and of the just cause not revenge,
the desire for plunder or the suffering of destruction of the people on the other side . Due to the fact
that Tony did not gain anything nor was there evidence to prove self intentions he had to have the right
intentions. Likely outcome: In the absence of any evidence of self interested motives, the panel would
probably vote that Tony Blair must ve had the right intentions . The fourth on the list is Proportionality
meaning the good had to outweigh the bad. Some of the Aquinas panelists have claimed that for any
war to be just, the anticipated good must outweigh the evil likely to be caused. The actual

Anne Style Of Anne Francis Robbins
Anne Francis Robbins was born in New York City on July 6th, 1921. Anne s early life seemed like it
would not lead to be anything nearly as successful as it did. Early on in her life Anne would acquire
the name Nancy. When Nancy was born her father left her and her mother. Nancy s mother Edith, who
was a young actress, sent Nancy to go live with her aunt and uncle in Maryland. Here she attended a
community school titled Sidwell Friends School. Nancy would regularly travel with her aunt to see
her mother in New York City.
Nancy s mother would go on to marry a very prominent neurosurgeon from Chicago. Nancy would
then move back in with her mother and her new stepfather who adopted her. Nancy now went from

After being in three films and a couple guest spots, Nancy decided quit acting and focus on raising
their family. They then had another kid, counting Ronald s two other kids, made four in total.
In 1967, Ronald was elected as the governor of California. Nancy immediately took the role as her
beloved state. She was quickly criticized after speaking out about governor s mansion calling it a fire
trap before moving her family to a Sacramento suburb. The press and Ronald s political opponents
recognized her as snobbish, though she had only moved for the safety of her family. Her reputation
soon healed itself after becoming involved in the foster grandparents program. She was than known as
a model first lady.
In 1980 Ronald was elected president of the United States, after a failed campaign in 1976. In 1982
she championed a drug abuse awareness and education program. She spread the awareness by
traveling throughout the U.S. and other foreign countries. In 1985 the Just Say No campaign took off,
but was criticized by some as simplistic. Though the criticism was still in affect, the National Crusade
for a Drug Free America act was finalized by President Reagan in 1986.
The president s personal protector was said to be Nancy s most important role as the first lady. When
there was an assassination attempt on President Reagan, Nancy took it as her concern to make sure she

The Story Of Greek Myth
When the gods were pondering how to win the amrita, the elixir of immortally, Vishnu suggested that
they let the Devas and Asuras churn the ocean so that the elixir, along with all the herms and jewels,
would emerge. They unrooted Mount Mandara and set it on the back of a tortoise and used Vasuki, the
snake, as the rope. Taking each side of the rope, the Asuras and Devas began twirling Mount Madara.
The friction of the churning caused fire, which Indra put out using water from his clouds. Finally, the
sap of all the plants flowed into the ocean, which turned to milk, then to butter, ultimately resulting in
the divine physician Dhanvantari to bear the elixir. The Asuras surrendered the elixir to Vishnu, but he
gave it to the Devas. Rahu snatched a drop but before swallowing it, he was decapitated by Vishnu. ...

unique in this story is that these powerful gods used a plan to trick others, who were less powerful
than them, to churn the ocean for them. I also find it unique that they wanted the elixir of immortality
when they are already gods and are immortal. I think it s very common in myths for someone to
always be on the search for immortality and/or gaining god like abilities. This would make it a very
popular story because even in today s world, whether it s for science or cosmetic purposes, people are

Secondly, early child hood home visitation can be delivered by nurse or professional. The time when
IPV is more prevalent is during pregnancy and after delivery, says Davis (2015). This is when a
woman in an abusive relationship feels most vulnerable and need help. Unfortunately, the US
government offers these programs only to low income families and first time parents. Ultimately,
prevention can be achieved by raising awareness about dating violence in schools, promoting heathy
relationships among children, and respecting boundaries early in life. Moreover, improving financial
security and family support can reduce stress during financial struggle. Also, supporting family in the
absence of employment, low income, and financial stress, can help narrow gender pay gap.
Furthermore, a research conducted by Davis (2015) supports that additional provision of tax credit,
child care services, and other strategies as seen in Canada will support parental employment and

Salicylic Acid Testing Observations
Salicylic Acid Testing Observations
The indicator that showed the presence of Salicylic Acid in the aspirin was the change in color from
white to dark purple. The color that indicated the lack of Salicylic Acid was light yellow.
Conclusion
The weight of crude aspirin obtained from 4g of Salicylic Acid was 4.74g. After recrystallization,
approximately 2.9g of recrystallized aspirin was obtained. After calculating the molar mass of
Salicylic Acid and aspirin, the theoretically obtainable weight of aspirin was 5.217g. The percentage
of theoretical crude aspirin obtained was 90.85%. The percentage of theoretical recrystallized aspirin
obtained was 55.58%. During the Salicylic Acid testing, the crude aspirin tested positive by changing
to dark purple color, which occurs due to the Salicylic Acid reacting with methanol and iron(III)
chloride. After recrystallizing the crude aspirin, the aspirin was tested negative by changing to light
yellow color. There is a possibility that these results are not entirely accurate due to human error. A

The Children s Classic Goodnight Moon By Margaret Wise Brown
Phonemic awareness is the only aspect of reading that is essential for children to develop before they
can learn to read. A subset of phonological awareness, phonemic awareness is a child s ability to
mentally grasp and understand the individual phonemes, the smallest units of sound that distinguishes
words from one another, in a continuous sentence. Through repetition and rhyming, the reading aloud
of children s books may aid in children differentiating between sounds and understanding the
phonological, or sound, structure of spoken words. The children s classic Goodnight Moon by
Margaret Wise Brown is a great example of a read that demonstrates a child s ability to learn routine
and language. It is also effective in measuring a child s comprehension of sound within words and the
processes of learning letters, which are vital to the development of phoneme awareness. In her article,
The Development of Phonological Awareness in Preschool Children, Julia Carroll further supports
how important phonological awareness is in children learning to read and write, as well as being an
important predictor of reading in normally developing children. During preschool and early school
years, it is essential for children to develop a steady routine. After a long day, settling down to reading
Goodnight Moon will help create consistency and stability in a child. This bedtime story also creates a
nice calming effect on the child, which can help eliminate

The Power Of Literacy In Jimmy Santiago Baaca s Coming...
Jimmy Santiago Baca s Coming into Language displays a dark, yet uplifting view of the power of
literacy. From his beginning in the hospital, toward the end during his imprisonment, Baca moves
from the mindset of a rebellious teenager to a poetic adult. Through vivid descriptions, metaphors, the
appeal to the audience s emotions, and Baca sets up a transformational framework to show how
literacy can be a way of escape. Baca s story seeks to explain a point of view that one is more likely to
become incarcerated and to struggle in life if he is uneducated. I wrote to sublimate my rage, from a
place where all hope is gone, from a madness of having been damaged too much, from a silence of
killing rage (Baca).
In his writing, Baca uses word pictures to show a side of despair in his life that eventually leads to a
positive change where he now has hope. The beginning is filled with scenarios of him working in an
emergency room mopping up pools of blood and carting plastic bags stuffed with arms, legs and hands
to the outdoor incinerator (Baca), then moves on to detailed descriptions of his times spent
incarcerated, and how the detectives treat an intoxicated man. His shrill screams raked my nerves like
a hacksaw on bone, the desperate protest of his dignity against their inhumanity. (Baca) The wording
he uses describes a vivid, violent, and at times beautiful view. Throughout the narrative, Baca builds
an explanation of the circumstances he is in, and builds a visual where

Steven Wallace
Steven Wallace is one of the most respected poets in America. Through his progression, he had full
determination to become successful writer. He was a philosopher of aesthetics, vigorously exploring
the notion of poetry. From his extreme technical and thematic complexity of his work, employing
extraordinary vocabulary, and rigorous precision of crafting poems, Stevens was considered a
willfully difficult poet. He was acknowledged as eminent abstractionist and a provocative think. His
reputation lives on since his death.
Wallace Stevens was born in Reading Pennsylvania on the 2nd of October in 1879. His family

Stevens discontinued his passion to write poems, yet he was involved in New York City s artistic

including poets such as William Carlos Williams, E.E Cummings, Marianne Moore. During this time,
he had a fondness for modern painting, eventually becoming a collector of Asian art, including
pottery, and jewelery. He admired Asian works for their vivid colors and their clarity, qualities that he
later imparted to his own works. Through many periods of job changes, he was one of the most
impressive literacy achievements. In the year 1915, he produced his first significant poems, Peter
Quince at the Clavier and Sunday Morning, and in 1916, he published his prize winning play, Three
Travelers Watch a Sunrise. He detached himself from all world affairs and politics; though he cheered

After a successful life, Wallace Stevens passed away due to cancer on August, 1955. Years after his
death, Stevens reptation remains inspirational and respected. His abstraction and his diction of his
poetry has proven particularly among many students and academicians. Stevens is an example of a

Purpose of the Public Health Informatics Institute
The Public Health Informatics Institute
The mission of the Public Health Informatics Institute is to act as a neutral convener of people
working as public health professionals and public health stakeholders to enable and transform capacity
to effectively apply information relevant to the public health praxis in order to improve global health
outcomes. Three basic work areas are pursued by the Public Health Informatics Institute: Training,
convening and facilitating, and requirements development.
Policy development is accomplished in a number of ways, the most prominent of which is the Joint
Public Health Informatics Taskforce (JPHIT). This consortium of nine pubic health associations works
to coordinate informatics policy and action in order to improve population health. The Public Health
Informatics Institute serves as the Secretariat to JPHIT. In this role, the Public Health Information
Institute can support the policy work of the Taskforce in its efforts to bring stakeholders together to
define and back major informatics policies and priority activities. An important part of this policy
work is the provision of unified and effective advocacy for public health policy issues. These issues
may reflect the need for public health reform, directing resources to pubic health informatics practice,
and establishment of health information technology policy. Policy Example Developing Performance

Introduced Species In Australia
An introduced species is a species that has arrived a new habitat, outside of its native distributional
range, by human activity. However, an introduced species can sometimes pose very serious problems
to the local ecosystem and require a lot of work and money to manage the issue. This report focus on
two main introduced species, the feral water buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) and the European red foxes
(vulpes vulpes) which are both introduced into Australia in the 19th century. The consequences of the
introduction of these species and the way of management and recovery of the ecosystem are the main

Since the water buffaloes has caused such dramatic effect on the ecosystem and also spread the
disease in Kakadu national part, a extensive eradication program called Brucellosis and Tuberculosis
Eradication Campaign (BTEC) was initiated to reduce the population of water buffaloes (Jesser et al.
2008). This program was performed by aerial shooting from the helicopter. By then end of 1997, the
number of water buffaloes has reduced from around 20000 to only a few hundred left in the Kakadu
National Park. This sudden decline in water buffaloes numbers caused significant changes in
vegetation ground cover and biomass (Petty et al. 2007). However, weed (Mimosa pigra) control and
ongoing removal of buffaloes were required to rehabilitate the original ecosystem (Findlayson et al.
1997). The impact of buffaloes on ground level vegetation and soils in Kakadu National Park has
indirectly changed the living pattern such as the competitive relationships between plants and animals,
which, in turn, further altered the overall ecological structure of Kakadu. Thus, it was not enough to
revert the habitat to its previous state by simply removing the buffaloes. According to Petty and his

Non Traditional Students Of Color Essay
Non traditional students of color are often faced with obstacles that make life that much more
challenging as compared to traditional students. Rendon (1994) labeled non traditional students as
those that attend affordable community colleges and minority serving institutions, and traditional
students are those whose families have a history of college attendance, come from middle and upper
class families, and typically feel confident about attending college
(p. 13). And, research shows that these obstacles, challenges, and barriers that people of color face
have negative effects throughout their lives. Education is a prime example of how people of color
suffer great setbacks when they first enter college. Rendon (1994) points out students from
underrepresented backgrounds often experience isolation, a lack of self efficacy, and a lack of a sense
of belonging in college contexts (p. 48). Furthermore, one needs to take it one step back and realize
that most students of color are much more likely to attend schools where most of their peers are poor
or low income. Therefore, socio economic status (SES) determines the education a person receives
throughout K 12. Walpole (2004) also describes how low SES parents are more likely to define
success as a secure full time job after graduating from high school. College attendance is not an
expectation and often means enrolling in a community college or technical school when it does occur
(p. 47). When a student reaches the

Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain Essay
Marcel Duchamp s Fountain by Sarah Shea HUMN406 01 Professor Nelson
Marcel Duchamp s Fountain People often ask what constitutes good art. Who decides whether or
not a piece is art and whether it is good art or not? Marcel Duchamp challenged popular notions of his
day about what art actually is. Duchamp, a French artist living in New York at the turn of the century,
believed that it was up to the artist to determine what art is. Duchamp is most famous for a type of
sculpture he created called readymades 1. Readymades are ordinary functional household objects that
have either been joined to other objects, or chosen to stand alone as sculpture. Examples of his
readymades include a coat hanger nailed to the floor of his studio, a hat ... Show more content on

There was much ado over these happenings. Articles appeared in major newspapers regarding it, but
still no one knew who Richard Mutt was. An article also appeared in The Blind Man, an art journal
Duchamp himself published. The anonymous author of the article defended the Fountain as art and
went on to say The only works of art America has given are her plumbing and her bridges. 3 This was
the early 1900 s, so at this time the idea of modern art was still fairly new. People were starting to get
use to it, but were not comfortable enough to be introduced to something such as Fountain. A
bathroom fixture, especially a urinal, was considered too inappropriate, and was even said to be
immoral. In that same article in The Blind Man, the author defends Fountain on this matter by saying,
Now Mr. Mutt s fountain is not immoral, that is absurd, no more than a bath tub is immoral. It is a
fixture that you see every day in plumbers show windows. This is a very true statement; after all,
bathtubs are not considered immoral are they? However, it being a urinal, and because of its reference
to unpleasant bodily functions, it may seem inappropriate to have to study and examine it for any
period of time, like art is suppose to be studied. This is certainly valid reasoning. Perhaps, however,
because the urinal was flipped onto its back, and called Fountain rather than Urinal , it is divorced
from the whole bathroom scene,

the RAF played a role in my story, but I ended up cutting it most of it from the script. I did, however

nurses, and other transplant patients alike. Both lung patients and kidney patients who were waiting,

could do and I wanted to develop this further. I gained many ideas from the ex convict and stories
from transplant patients. All these were so inspiring; I had to combine them and thus, developed many
ideas. Jackson s character was the hardest because during the many interviews I got to know him on a
personal level and didn t want to use everything that was real, I needed my own, but what I thought of

Vygotsky believed that children are actively involved and curious in their own learning and learn best
through social interaction. (Schneider, P., Watkins, R. (1996). He said that play is the biggest
component to developing abilities such as self regulation and language. (Whitebread, 2011). These
two powerful components are predictors of emotional well being and academic achievement
(Whitebread, 2011). However, due, to the state standards children are required to have more lessons

Reggio Emilia is an approach to education that originated in Reggio Emilia, Italy. Children are the
emphasis of the program, it is child led and incorporates project based learning. Reggio Emilia is a
flexible approach to curriculum, in Italian it is called progettazione. (Cross, 2006). The teachers
generalize and wait to see what the children do with the topic and what type of prior knowledge they
will used in the project. (Cross, 2006). The teacher may predict that the children will learn about a
topic and based on the children s reaction and prior knowledge. They may learn something else that
was not expected by the teacher. Teachers take into consideration the interests of the child,
encouraging children and parents to participate to provide provocations. (Cross, 2006). Family is an
important role of Reggio Emilia. Loris Malaguzzi who is the inspiration of Reggio Emilia preschools

Icarus Williams Meaning
The tale of Icarus was supposed to be a life lesson towards children and adolescents to listen and obey
their parents; however, there are four artists that have interpreted the tale in different ways in forms of
a painting and poems. The four artists convey the overall message of Icarus through their own ways of
meanings of the human experience in terms of death and its selfishness. These artists have in common
of illustrating the cruel nature of humans and the insignificant death they face. Although, the works of
the artists convey different meanings of Icarus, they all connects together to the same theme.

The brevity of the poem points that humans rather than mourning over deaths, they are more looking
forward to new beginnings, waiting to start a new cycle for life again. Williams says, not
significantly/off the coast/there was/ a splash quite unnoticed/this was/Icarus drowning; this is a
representation of the human nature as being greedy with our own pursuit of happiness, but have little
or no influences on others. Through the use of imagery, Williams convey that when Icarus was
drowning, no one cared to notice as death is seen as insignificant to our everyday lives. However,
Frost s message of the myth of Icarus suggests that the circle of life starts anew with every ending,
like Auden s poem, children unexpectedly dies instead of the old. Human lives are considered to be
unimportant to others; Frosts illustrates through the use of imagery of how death can be inevitable,
stating At the word, the saw,/As to prove saws knew what supper meant,/Leaped out of the boy s hand
(lines 14 17). The imagery of the buzz saw illuminates that there s no significance towards humans
and their greed once they die. Towards the end of human lives, they re realizing that they are soon to

Dark Matter and Dark Energy
Dark matter and dark energy are two entities that have very little known about them, except that they
make up about 95 percent of the universe. Even though this is a large part of the universe, it wasn t
even thought about until the 1960 s or the 1970 s. This is because of the fact that it is very hard to
detect and almost impossible to see. Although it is impossible to see, we can see the effects of them
both in our galaxy. One way that we can see the dark matter is the movement of the Milky Way
Galaxy. While studying the Milky Way, scientists noticed that the outer rings of the galaxy were
moving at the same speed as the inner rings ( Dark Energy, Dark Matter , n.d.) . This may seem

MACHO s may be neutron stars, black holes, or brown dwarfs. The reason why they think that
MACHO s may be dark matter is because neutron stars and black holes are big enough to cause the

caused because of supernovae, which are not common occurrences, and they should put off high
amounts of energy and elements, but there aren t any signs of these things in sufficient amounts in the

White Privilege Sociology
White privilege is a form of structural racism where whites are routinely advantaged while producing
adverse outcomes for people of color such as Blacks and Hispanics. White privilege is a historically
based system which still exists in the United States (US). In my view, white privilege system marked
the beginning of racial inequality in the US. White privilege exists in the United States and is one of
the contributing factors to the injustices people with color are facing in the US.
White privilege is a unique form of racism given its fascinating characteristic of not involving
hostility. Therefore, it cannot be directly blamed on someone (Pludo, 2015). The lack of blame does
not cause any discomfort on the white persons enjoying the privileges. ... Show more content on

For instance, in a scenario when an injustice occurs when a white is favored against a nonwhite who is
in a similar situation as the white person (same social class, same education or same job skills).
Neoliberalism has partly contributed to racial inequality in the US. The concept that the free market is
the best way to organize a society greatly favors the white (Pludo, 2015). However, the social
formation needs not to be considered racist.
Although efforts have been made to fight white supremacy, nonwhites continue to face injustices
based on their color. The US has made efforts towards liberal multicultural era whereby white
supremacy is obscured by certain events. The election of President Obama was a step towards liberal

The Doctrine Of Original Sin In Roman Catholic Religion
Doctrines are used as a foundation to Christian beliefs. They serve to many churches as fundamentals
in the direction their members chose to live their lives. It is important to understand the historical
backgrounds of the doctrines that pertain to one s particular beliefs. I will be discussing this very
information for the doctrine of original sin. The doctrine of original sin mostly pertains to the Roman
Catholic religion. I will be covering when, where, and why the doctrine was originated. Original sin is
the theory that every man is born into sin because our mother and father have sinned. The definition
given by the Catholic Encyclopedia is: (1) the sin that Adam committed; (2) a consequence of this first
sin, the hereditary stain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So then it is no longer I that do it, but sin which dwells within me. For I know that nothing good
dwells within me, that is, in my flesh. I can will what is right, but I cannot do it. For I do not do the
good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I do. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I
that do it, but sin which dwells within me. So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies
close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inmost self, but I see in my members another law
at war with the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin which dwells in my members.
Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? (Romans 7:15 24) The
solution to this problem is stated by Paul in these terms: For God has done what the law, weakened by
the flesh, could not do: sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned
sin in the flesh, in order that the just requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not
according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. (Romans 8:3 4) Though the New Testament doctrine
of original sin is most clearly expressed by Paul, it is also implicit in the teachings of Jesus: for
example in such words as: And Jesus said to him, Why do you call me good? No one is good but God
alone. (Mark 10:18) and I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it

world to eat there! I was talking to the woman who works there and her parents opened the shop in the
1980 s (if I am remembering correctly) so I think back then it was supposed to be a little hole in the
wall local place, hence the name Ono Seafood.

This adds a level of closeness to the customer and the store because they both know Ono is a local
word for delicious. I can guarantee that people on the mainland would not know what Ono means
because it is a word from here.
Hawaiian restaurants attempt to remain local by using pidgin and Hawaiian words but are restricted to
using just a few because they want to use well known terms, or easy to understand words. I was in a
Vietnamese restaurant today and they had a sign that said
Ono Pho meaning delicious pho! Ono is a common word here in Hawaii and can be found in many
different places and restaurants. People who speak pidgin also speak another language as their main
language. In opposite, creoles are the languages that came to be from the children of pidgin speakers.
As the children grow up, they develop the vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar so that they can
use it as their main language of communication. Pidgin is an important part of Hawaiian culture and
can be found all over the islands in signs, everyday talk and much more.
I am attaching another picture of a restaraunt that used to be found on Kapahulu called Ono Hawaiian
Food, again meaning, Delicious Hawaiian Food. This store has

Year Of Wonders Anna Quotes
Anna Frith faces more horrific terrors in her life than many warriors in a battle field. Geraldine Brooks
novel Year of Wonders discovers the strength of Anna throughout the year of the bubonic plague in
1666. Anna is seen as a heroic figure that lived through hardship, social challenges, and even death,
making her a central beacon of hope and a charter of great courage even though she is just a serving
girl. The selfishness shown by Colonel Bradford, the thefts of Anna s parents, Josiah and Aphra Bont
and murders of village healers Mem and Anys Gowdie by the grieving mob of villagers all
demonstrate that in times of great adversity some sink to the very base instincts of self interest,
survival and superstition. However, along with Anna, Elinor Mompellion and her husband and towns
rector, Michael Mompellion s resilient efforts they show great courage, compassion and selflessness
that evidently prevails. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anna herself comes to realise this in a non egotistical way and says that she is a woman who has faced
more terrors than many warriors . Opening in 1665, Brooks begins to outline the events of the plague
year that enabled Anna to shine and become the young woman who has faced the terrors of the mob,
midwifery and mining. Instead of joining the grieving mob who attacked Mem and Anys Gowdie, the
town healers, accusing them of being witches and blaming them for their losses to the plague, Anna
fights with all her strength to bring the crowd to their senses. With her own babies. rotting in the
ground she too could have given in to the superstitions of her time and sought revenge by blaming the
witches but she chose the harder but more reasonable way and was bruised and battered for having

Biscuits And Gravy Review Essay
Coming from the South, Biscuits and Gravy has been my favorite breakfast meal ever since my
childhood. All Sothern s behave themselves in a casual way when it comes to biscuits and gravy.
Growing up, my love of Biscuits and Gravy was big, and still is, in local restaurants throughout my
hometown in Jonesboro, Arkansas. We ve had well known restaurants, such as Cracker Barrel, Dixie
Café and Gina s Place, that are well known for their breakfast meals and sandwiches that receive
worthy business. But who doesn t love biscuits and gravy? Growing up in the south, locals knows how
to serve breakfast when it comes to biscuits and gravy. It s in our southern roots for the love of
Biscuits and Gravy. But when I first moved to Denver after exiting the military, I began researching
good brunch restaurant s within a radius of where I m living and began exploring these excellent
places. I came across this urban restaurant that s located on South Broadway, which has another
location on East Colfax, called Atomic Cowboy but has Biscuits, Pizza and Beer Everyday painted on
the side of the building. With the great reviews that I read, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Right then and there, I said to my fiancé, We have to go! According to majority of the reviews, the top
favorite was the Franklin. It was their customer s favorite dish that consisted of a biscuit, with the
option of homemade beef or mushroom gravy, a fried chicken breast, optional fried egg and bacon.
Just by looking at the image, my mouth was watery and I became hungrier. With their towering and
ginormous biscuit sandwiches, there were 10 inch long toothpicks that were pocked through
sandwiches in order to keep the sandwiches stable and without falling over. The reviews gave me high
expectations with all great reviews and suggestions of these gluten free sandwiches with taste of

The Political Party Of The United States Of America
The nature of the political party system in the United States of America, the oldest democracy in
existence, is that the majority party rules. In essence, of the two major contemporary political parties
that has a preponderance of votes wins the majority seat or as it is called the winner takes all system
and the party that loses takes the minority seat and gets little to no power in the political arena. As a
result, there is no representation for any other political party as long as the Democrats and the
Republicans remain synergized. Thereupon, we have two almost ideological opposing parties that
work together to dominate the political arena in the United States of America. Moreover, the question
that arises is this an advantage or disadvantage? Well the answer is both, the major advantage is that
no additional radical parties other than the two unified parties can dominate and create chaotic or
disastrous reform. On the other hand, the major disadvantage is that a voter has only two choices
because all the other small parties cannot compete with the two major contemporary parties voting
power so if both major parties have displeasing candidates the vote has to choose from the less
distasteful of the two chooses. The dangers of a two party system is that if one of the parties has a
mishap and lose its standing, then it is a tyrannical one party system that will allow the regional power
to run that local area through capital and no agencies to defend that individuals

A Summary Of La Ville Lumiere
La Ville Lumiere
The dark specter of the cool night spread across the sky, while the alluring orange color of the sunset
disappeared as nonchalantly as it came. A mixed medley of harmonious sounds streamed through the
night from the violins. Music echoed from every street corner, awakening life, springing off the Eiffel
Tower to Notre Dame and floating through the Arc de Triomphe. Soon, the people, scattered like trees
in a desolate country, grew into a huge crowd like a lush green woodland. Noises of people shrilling,
teenagers laughing and adults murmuring transpired from the crowd. The lads held their demoiselles
hands lost in their world of immortal love. Eventually, everyone slipped into their dancing shoes. The
aromas rose from the hot sizzling gourmet cuisine and cigarette smoke to quickly permeate the air.
The streets shone with dazzling lights as bright as daytime, as the astounding Eiffel Tower took form
in its enticing and glowing festive lights of amber, standing in its own elegance, like a gem on Champ
de Mars. La Ville Lumiere... here it is; Paris, the splendid metropolis, the home of the lovers and the
city that speaks the language of love.
Paris is the capital metropolis of France and an absolute destination that strikes everyone s minds
when they talk about France. There is no one who could tread the streets of Paris and not feel
incredibly alive. The visit there is worth it, for what one experiences can t be conveyed through
words! There is a player on

The Importance Of Judaism And Judaism
3. Significant Passages:
Salt was to the ancient Hebrews, and still is to modern Jews, the symbol of the eternal nature of God s
covenant with Israel...On Friday nights Jews dip the Sabbath bread in slat. In Judaism, bread is a
symbol of food, which is a gift from God, and dipping the bread in salt preserves it keeps the
agreement between God and his people (Salt, p. 7). This passage discusses the importance of salt to
Jews, especially during Sabbath. Judaism utilized salt s preservative properties to represent their
eternal connection to God. This belief was common in many other religions, where salt has a
significant place in their customs and traditions. The religious value of salt affected trade and
commerce between people, thus shaping the global economy.
The search for salt has challenged engineers for millennia and created some of the most bizarre, along
with some of the most ingenious, machines. A number of the greatest public works ever conceived
were motivated by the need to move salt...Trade routes that have remained major thoroughfares were
established, alliances built, empires secured, revolutions provoked all for something that fills the
ocean... (Salt, p. 12). This passage discusses the importance of salt to world history as a whole. Salt, a
substance abundant on Earth, has motivated humans to alter the Earth in ways that otherwise would
not be possible. Many advancements in the last millennia pertained to salt. Salt has shaped society and
economics to the

Minerva Mirabal is a heroine from the book In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez. There were four Mirabal sisters, Patria, Dede, Minerva, and Maria Teresa. The Mirabal sisters stood up for what was right even if it was against the dictator, Trujillo. • 3. Cold Blood Is A Book By Truman Capote In Cold Blood is a book written by Truman Capote. It s a non fictional book written in the style of a creative fictional book. The story follows two criminals, Dick and Perry, after they ve murdered four members of the Clutter family. The already experienced murderers make sure to leave no evidence, clues, or traces to them in the crime scene. As investigators attempt to figure out the mystery of the Clutter family murders, Dick and Perry make their way to Mexico until they get found out and get taken to prison. After several years and trials, the duo are given the ultimate punishment. Because this novel is a real story, Capote has to make sure the readers get all the details from the actual event. Just like any other journalism from the newspaper or the TV news report, these details can get tedious and boring. When writing this book, Capote had the intention of giving the story a creative style that would capture the reader as any fictional book would. And so, the challenge for Capote would be how to mix his writing style between realistic and at the same time creatively intriguing. At the start of the story, Truman Capote has the intention to make sure the reader gets deeply invested into the environment of the story. He wants us to feel the realistic tone of the story that it s following. In order to do so, he creates a lot of buildup to the scenery before any major events crop up. Before the main murder of the Clutter family occurs, Capote spends a decent amount of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is incredibly difficult to select a group of teenagers that will (1) all get along, (2) work together seamlessly, and (3) respect their coaches. The formula for the perfect team is unknowable. One negative spirit always exists to drag the team down, to deflate their motives and increase their egos; but that does not have any effect on the sportsmanship of a team. Sportsmanship does not rely on the cohesiveness of a team. It does not correlate with how many bonding trips a team endures or how many groups of friends are on the team. None of us could figure out how to work together. Not until our second tournament. The morning bus ride was quiet and unassuming. Everyone sat separately and stared out their own windows, listening to their own music. Upon arrival, we pulled up kneepads, put on out ankle braces, tied our shoes, and trudged onto the court for warmup. Even with no energy, we won our first game, and the one after that, and the one after that. First in our pool, yet there was no real celebration. Bracket play started and, finally, we met some teams that actually challenged us. While energy started to rise, so did the attitudes. After actually playing, for once, cockiness spread throughout the team. Then, after fighting our way past a small team in bright red jerseys, a game won purely by luck and consistent serving, we found ourselves in the championship game. Our final opponents hailed from one of those pretentious private school in Portland. We had watched part of one of their games earlier, which did nothing to boost our confidence. • 13. History of the Refrigerator Essay History of the Refrigerator Back in time a long time ago, around 500 B.C. the Egyptians and Indians made ice on cold nights by setting water out in earthenware pots and keeping the pots wet. In the 18th century England, servants collected ice in the winter and put it into icehouses, where the sheets of ice were packed in salt, wrapped in strips of flannel and stored underground to keep them frozen until summer. Before the refrigerator or ice box was introduced people used snow and ice to keep their food cool, which was either found locally or brought down from the mountains. In 1851 Dr. John Gorrie created the first commercial ice making machine to cool the air for his yellow fever patients. Soon thereafter, refrigeration and freezing became popular methods of preserving foods for transport or storage, and in place where natural ice was not available. Refrigeration is the process of removing heat from an enclosed space, or from a substance, to lower its temperature. A refrigerator uses the evaporation of a liquid to absorb heat. The liquid, or refrigerant used in a refrigerator evaporates at an extremely low temperature creating freezing temperatures inside the refrigerator. William Cullen at the University of Glasgow demonstrated the first known artificial refrigeration in 1748. However, he did not use his discovery for any practical purpose. In 1805, an American inventor, Oliver Evans, designed the first refrigerator machine. The development of mechanical refrigeration systems began in the early19th century and arose mainly from the needs of meat producers in the USA, South America, Australia and New Zealand, who were facing many difficulties in shipping their produce to their export markers in Europe. These analysts used the oil crisis of the 1970 s as an example. Many observers at that time predicted that because no new oil fields had been discovered the prices of oil would rise to 100 dollars per barrel or more by the end of the decade, even though this increase never did occur (Truby, 2000). After recrystallization, approximately 2.9g of recrystallized aspirin was obtained. After calculating the molar mass of Salicylic Acid and aspirin, the theoretically obtainable weight of aspirin was 5.217g. The percentage of theoretical crude aspirin obtained was 90.85%. The percentage of theoretical recrystallized aspirin obtained was 55.58%. During the Salicylic Acid testing, the crude aspirin tested positive by changing to dark purple color, which occurs due to the Salicylic Acid reacting with methanol and iron(III) chloride. After recrystallizing the crude aspirin, the aspirin was tested negative by changing to light yellow color. There is a possibility that these results are not entirely accurate due to human error. • 22. The Children s Classic Goodnight Moon By Margaret Wise Brown Phonemic awareness is the only aspect of reading that is essential for children to develop before they can learn to read. A subset of phonological awareness, phonemic awareness is a child s ability to mentally grasp and understand the individual phonemes, the smallest units of sound that distinguishes words from one another, in a continuous sentence. Through repetition and rhyming, the reading aloud of children s books may aid in children differentiating between sounds and understanding the phonological, or sound, structure of spoken words. The children s classic Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown is a great example of a read that demonstrates a child s ability to learn routine and language. It is also effective in measuring a child s comprehension of sound within words and the processes of learning letters, which are vital to the development of phoneme awareness. In her article, The Development of Phonological Awareness in Preschool Children, Julia Carroll further supports how important phonological awareness is in children learning to read and write, as well as being an important predictor of reading in normally developing children. During preschool and early school years, it is essential for children to develop a steady routine. After a long day, settling down to reading Goodnight Moon will help create consistency and stability in a child. • 23. The Power Of Literacy In Jimmy Santiago Baaca s Coming... Jimmy Santiago Baca s Coming into Language displays a dark, yet uplifting view of the power of literacy. From his beginning in the hospital, toward the end during his imprisonment, Baca moves from the mindset of a rebellious teenager to a poetic adult. Through vivid descriptions, metaphors, the appeal to the audience s emotions, and Baca sets up a transformational framework to show how literacy can be a way of escape. Baca s story seeks to explain a point of view that one is more likely to become incarcerated and to struggle in life if he is uneducated. I wrote to sublimate my rage, from a place where all hope is gone, from a madness of having been damaged too much, from a silence of killing rage (Baca). In his writing, Baca uses word pictures to show a side of despair in his life that eventually leads to a positive change where he now has hope. The beginning is filled with scenarios of him working in an emergency room mopping up pools of blood and carting plastic bags stuffed with arms, legs and hands to the outdoor incinerator (Baca), then moves on to detailed descriptions of his times spent incarcerated, and how the detectives treat an intoxicated man. His shrill screams raked my nerves like a hacksaw on bone, the desperate protest of his dignity against their inhumanity. (Baca) The wording he uses describes a vivid, violent, and at times beautiful view. Throughout the narrative, Baca builds an explanation of the circumstances he is in, and builds a visual where ... Since the water buffaloes has caused such dramatic effect on the ecosystem and also spread the disease in Kakadu national part, a extensive eradication program called Brucellosis and Tuberculosis Eradication Campaign (BTEC) was initiated to reduce the population of water buffaloes (Jesser et al. 2008). This program was performed by aerial shooting from the helicopter. By then end of 1997, the number of water buffaloes has reduced from around 20000 to only a few hundred left in the Kakadu National Park. This sudden decline in water buffaloes numbers caused significant changes in vegetation ground cover and biomass (Petty et al. 2007). However, weed (Mimosa pigra) control and ongoing removal of buffaloes were required to rehabilitate the original ecosystem (Findlayson et al. 1997). The impact of buffaloes on ground level vegetation and soils in Kakadu National Park has indirectly changed the living pattern such as the competitive relationships between plants and animals, which, in turn, further altered the overall ecological structure of Kakadu. Rendon (1994) labeled non traditional students as those that attend affordable community colleges and minority serving institutions, and traditional students are those whose families have a history of college attendance, come from middle and upper class families, and typically feel confident about attending college (p. 13). And, research shows that these obstacles, challenges, and barriers that people of color face have negative effects throughout their lives. Education is a prime example of how people of color suffer great setbacks when they first enter college. Rendon (1994) points out students from underrepresented backgrounds often experience isolation, a lack of self efficacy, and a lack of a sense of belonging in college contexts (p. 48). Furthermore, one needs to take it one step back and realize that most students of color are much more likely to attend schools where most of their peers are poor or low income. Therefore, socio economic status (SES) determines the education a person receives throughout K 12. Walpole (2004) also describes how low SES parents are more likely to define success as a secure full time job after graduating from high school. College attendance is not an expectation and often means enrolling in a community college or technical school when it does occur (p. 47). When a student reaches the ... Who decides whether or not a piece is art and whether it is good art or not? Marcel Duchamp challenged popular notions of his day about what art actually is. Duchamp, a French artist living in New York at the turn of the century, believed that it was up to the artist to determine what art is. Duchamp is most famous for a type of sculpture he created called readymades 1. People were starting to get use to it, but were not comfortable enough to be introduced to something such as Fountain. A bathroom fixture, especially a urinal, was considered too inappropriate, and was even said to be immoral. In that same article in The Blind Man, the author defends Fountain on this matter by saying, Now Mr. Mutt s fountain is not immoral, that is absurd, no more than a bath tub is immoral. It is a fixture that you see every day in plumbers show windows. This is a very true statement; after all, bathtubs are not considered immoral are they? However, it being a urinal, and because of its reference to unpleasant bodily functions, it may seem inappropriate to have to study and examine it for any period of time, like art is suppose to be studied. This is certainly valid reasoning. Perhaps, however, because the urinal was flipped onto its back, and called Fountain rather than Urinal , it is divorced from the whole bathroom scene, 3 Marcel Duchamp himself most ... So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. • 40. Year Of Wonders Anna Quotes Anna Frith faces more horrific terrors in her life than many warriors in a battle field. Geraldine Brooks novel Year of Wonders discovers the strength of Anna throughout the year of the bubonic plague in 1666. Anna is seen as a heroic figure that lived through hardship, social challenges, and even death, making her a central beacon of hope and a charter of great courage even though she is just a serving girl. • 43. The Political Party Of The United States Of America The nature of the political party system in the United States of America, the oldest democracy in existence, is that the majority party rules. In essence, of the two major contemporary political parties that has a preponderance of votes wins the majority seat or as it is called the winner takes all system and the party that loses takes the minority seat and gets little to no power in the political arena. As a result, there is no representation for any other political party as long as the Democrats and the Republicans remain synergized.
