like the creativity of Kerrang! magazine. Lastly, there is people who work in
jobs such as office supervisors, junior managers and nurses this means that
the people who buy the magazine have more money to spend on the

Katz’ Uses & Gratifications Theory and Maslow’s
Hierarchy of needs
According to Katz’ Uses and Gratifications theory the audience can build a
‘personal relationship’ with my magazine as the readers can use it to fulfill
relationships with friends who also read the magazine or they could build a
relationship with an interview inside the magazine as they will be able to
relate to it. For example, peoples favorite band members they would be
able to build a relationship with them as they get to read most probably
about their life in an interview. Furthermore, the readers can also ‘divert’
as they can immerse themselves into the content inside the magazine and
they can be entertained by competitions such as winning tickets to gigs
which allows them to escape from everyday life situations such as work.
More so, according to Maslow the target audience would be ‘explorers’ as
they are influenced by social change. For example, if they see lots of people
wearing a band t-shirt then they will copy them and be influenced to fit in.
