Analyze Learners:
Students are in the ninth grade. There are twenty-eight students in the class. The class is
composed of sixteen girls and twelve boys, with two Hispanic students and one African-American
student.
State Objectives:
Students will demonstrate their understanding of the causes and the environment leading up to
the American Civil War to ninety percent competency, by creating and sharing a time line of events
leading to the war.

Utilize Media, Material, and Methods:
1- The computer will be used to access digital media and present a short lecture to the class. Students
will use their computers to acces and create a Glogster and post it on the class wiki.
2- The projector will be connected to the teachers computer to project the lecture PowerPoint and to
show the class the YouTube videos.
3- Glogster will be used by the students to construct a time line of the presented material.
4- Youtube will be used to provide a quick lesson on two important parts of the lead up to the War
5- Wikispace will be used by the class to organize and share their PowerPoint to the rest of the class
and will be the method of evaluating the students in this lesson.
6-Pencils will be used by the students to take notes on the paper provided.
7- Paper will be used with the pencils to take notes on the lecture.
8- PowerPoint will be used by the teacher to present information and images to the student during the
short lecture at the beginning of class.
8- The Smart Board will be used with the projector and the teachers computer to present the lecture and
to give a brief demonstration on making a Glogster.

2. Require Learner Participation:
Note taking and Questions.
Students will be encouraged to take notes and ask question during and after the lecture.
Glogster assignment.
Students will create a time line using the website Glogster and post it to the class wiki. After
posting it students will look at and comment on other students time lines.
Evaluate and Revise:
Students will be evaluated on the accuracy and content of the time lines they will post on the class wiki.
The time line is worth ten points total. Five for accurate dates and events and five for having a
reasonable amount of information on the time line. Students will lose points for not having images that
are relevant.
