ASSURE Method Assignment
I am a fourth grade teacher teaching my students about different holiday traditions. I have
twenty students including eleven girls and nine boys. Two of my students are Muslim, three of my
students are Jewish, and I have two African American students. I will teach my students about
Christmas, Kwanza, and Hanukkah for the month of December. I will make sure my students will learn
the history of how each of these holidays were formed and how all the different traditions became
popular. My students will learn about each culture of each religion so they will understand each holiday
better and why they celebrate each holiday the way they do. For each holiday, I will find an appropriate
video from YouTube or a movie for my students to watch in class. I will also have my students
participate in games and fun activities for each holiday such as Elf on the Shelf for Christmas, play with
dreidels for Hanukkah and different art projects. I will also have each of my students make a poster
board or a shadow box for a holiday I assign them to and will do a presentation of the holiday in front of
the class. The class will also learn different popular songs from each holiday. By the end of December,
my students will have full knowledge of different holiday traditions and full knowledge of different
cultures that each holiday is celebrated in.
