The document outlines activities for an 11th grade AP Literature class reading Night by Elie Wiesel. There are 7 boys and 10 girls in the class from mostly middle-class families, though some come from lower-class families. 1. A- These activities are meant for an 11th grade AP Literature class. There are 7 boys and 10
girls. They seem to be above average in language skills; however, 2 of them have ADHD. Most
students come from a middle class family though 3 of them come from a lower class. Extra
computer and Internet time has been offered to these students as well as help getting
materials for their model.
S- My students will describe and demonstrate an understanding of the Holocaust after reading
Night by Elie Wiesal by using an imaginative, relaxation technique, building a model, writing a
memoir, and presenting the memoir with a media requirement throughout the time they read
Night with a 98% accuracy.
S- A computer, projector, and speakers will be used to show videos about the Holocaust and for
presenting final projects. Students will bring in other materials when their model is made.
U- The teacher will make sure the videos are still up and working before class by previewing
them first thing in the morning. Videos will be prepared while students are changing classes.
Students should already have read up to the scheduled reading of Night, so we will discuss
some of the events and show videos for visual and auditory emphasis.
R- Students will be required to discuss the novel, create a model of a concentration camp, write
a memoir as if they were experiencing he Holocaust, and do a presentation of their memoir
while using some sort of media.
E- The teacher will evaluate the assignment by how detailed and accurate the memoir and
presentation are. The teacher will also pass around a short anonymous survey for students to
give feedback and make suggestions or comments about the unit.
