- 1. How does my product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? Milo Lennard- AS Foundation Production
- 2. Comparing Conventions • As can be seen in my blog post, I compared the main conventions seen in different opening scenes from films of different genres to the conventions found in my opening scene. • The main pattern I found was that all genres featured a similar pattern of conventions however they were all portrayed slightly differently. For example, they all had a narrative, but the narrative varied between voiceovers and a character abstractly explaining. • To compare these to the conventions in my opening sequence, they are almost the same, however because of my genre I used audio and visual codes much more.
- 3. Social Groups • I believe my product represents gender very well as my main character is a women. Especially when taking genre into account this is very unusual to see. • Critically, whilst evaluating my product I have come to the conclusion that I could have portrayed race and disability better as there are no actors from ethnic or disabled backgrounds.
- 4. People, Place and Issues • My trailer is set in unique places around London. This is good because it provides an insight into what happens behind the tourist front. • The main issue confronted in my trailer is crime. I believe this is a very relevant and important issue in today’s society as people in general are always subconsciously worried about their safety on the streets and how secure they and their families really are.
