India is now home to the world's largest number of blind people. Of 37 million people across the globe, 15 million blind people are from India. 75% of these are cases of avoidable blindness. On the other hand, while India needs2.5 lakh donated eyes every year, the country's 109 eye banks of which 5 located in Delhi manage to collect a maximum of just 25,000 eyes, 30% of which can't be used. Meanwhile, the shortage of donated eyes is becoming a huge problem. In 15 million blind people in India, three million that is 26% of whom are children who suffer due to corneal disorders. But only 10,000 corneal transplants are being done every year because of a shortage of donated eyes. The bionic eye aims to restore basic visual cues to people suffering from eye diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa, which is a genetic eye condition. A video camera fitted to a pair of glasses will capture and process images. These images are sent wirelessly to a bionic implant at the back of the eye which stimulates dormant optic nerves to generate points of light (phosphenes) that form the basis of images in the brain. Thus, even blind people can have a vision. The eye is a complex optical system that, like other organs, may become injured due to disease or injury. As such, various prosthetics have been designed to allow such people to regain their sight and enjoy a full life. This paper mostly covers the cornea, but it also covers the iris and the lens. Since someone else was researching artificial retinas, that will not be covered. The truth is, I really wanted to cover that, since there are many advances in that field, while still being in its infancy.
For those millions of us whose vision isn’t perfect, there are glasses. But for those hundreds of thousands who are blind, devices that merely assist the eyes just aren’t enough.. Technology has created many pathways for mankind. Now technology has improved to that extent wherein the entire human body can be controlled using a single electronic chip. We have seen prosthetics that helped to overcome handicaps. Now it is the turn of artificial vision through bionic eyes. Chips designed specially to imitate the characteristics of the damaged retina and the cones and rods of the organ of sight are implanted with microsurgery. Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

3. How eyes work?
The light coming from an object enters the
eye through cornea and pupil. The eye
lens converges these light rays to form a
real, inverted and diminished image on the
retina. The light sensitive cells of the
retina gets activated with the incidence of
light and generate electric signals. These
electric signals are sent to the brain by the
optic nerves and the brain interprets the
electrical signals in such away that we see
an image which is erect and of the same
size as the object.
