Essay on Zeitgeist
Zeitgeist Its acquaintance is inevitable so good luck at trying to escape from it. Zeitgeist is the
spirit of the age, as the dictionary defines it to be, but in my own terms it is the paranoia or
scream of a given epoch. For instance, the international fads like high speed Internet, diminutive
cell phones that miraculously slide and fit comfortably in your jean pocket, and convenient photo
taking digital cameras reflect the zeitgeist of many developed countries of the past decade. We see
these items all over place on expressway billboards and during the two minute commercial breaks
that disrupt whatever televised program happens to be on the screen. We even see them in the

By this blob inhabiting our carpeted floors, families absorb all of media s controversies and hot
tittle tattles presidential sex scandals, suburban gangs, the deadly disease that is going to infect
you next, and everything else that will make you run upstairs and lock the door. Enrenreich also
informs us that the blob can no longer be stopped for it is everywhere and far out of reach to be
confined. Then, for the first time in human history, hundreds of millions of individual minds were
wired together in a single teleneurological system, inhabiting a self contained universe of image
and jingle and slogan. (151) It s unfortunately true. We function in life based on what we have
learned from the media. For example, before the arrival of the new millennium, from one news
reporter to the next, word about Y2K s computer bug and the shutdown of all electrical systems
horrified the world. Lines at supermarkets looked like army parades with their aligned frantic
customers loading up on bottled water and batteries. The public has become so adapted to similar
images of drama and fear that it now constantly produces more commotion after the previous crisis.

The Disaster Of South America And Asia Experience A...
Landslides The Oso landslide in Seattle, Washington took 43 lives in 2014. (Metcalfe, 2015)
New technology is used to determine the areas that a potential landslide could occur. A landslide
is a shift of land down a slope. Using geographic information systems to determine the probability
of landslides can save lives. North America experiences relatively less landslides than countries
in South America and Asia. Steep slopes, excessive rainfall, unstable soil, and seasonal dry
periods are the main reasons that South America and Asia experience a greater number of
landslides than North America. (Shahabi, 2015) In North America, Seattle experiences the
most landslides with over 100 since 2007. (Metcalfe, 2015) Seattle experiences large amounts of
rainfall and is prone to steamrolling walls of muddy debris. (Metcalfe, 2015) Geographic
information systems(GIS) allows us to visualize and interpret data to determine if a pattern is
forming. GIS is used to compare different alternativities to help support a decision. (DeMeritt,
2013) GIS maps are formed to help show possible landslide areas. (DeMeritt, 2013) The maps are
formed by using remote sensing, satellite images, and aerial views. (Shahabi, 2015) The caution
areas are usually on large slopes, the edges of cliffs, or areas with little to no vegetation.
Individuals can take necessary precautions when warned about a possible landslide. The goal is to
save lives and prevent injuries. When a large storm is noticed, the areas prone

How Did The Industrial Revolution Affect The Spread Of...
In the time of the Industrial Revolution, Manchester was a developing country, becoming a leading
textile manufacturing center after the invention of the cotton mill was created in 1780. But for
every action, there is an opposite reaction. Whether it was a drastic growth in population and how
that affected Manchester, or the unsanitary conditions that workers went through every day, or how
the working class was affected with all the reforms going on, Manchester at the time went through
some dramatic issues. Population in Manchester overtime grew drastically. This was all due thanks
to the invention of the cotton mill. For example, in the image starred, it shows how population
grew over time. From 1750 to 1850, the city grew drastically.... Show more content on

More issues such as sickness, and death arose due to the overcrowding of people and the
unsanitary conditions they lived in. Thomas B. Macaulay, a social historian, states people live
longer because they are better fed, better lodged, better clothed, and better attended in sickness.
(Doc 3) This without a doubt means that if people had better conditions in living, and not as
much overcrowding, they would live longer. One big issue that was an ongoing problem during
this time was disease and infection. Disease would take a lot of lives, and people could not do
anything about it because, because they did not know how to fight it. Edwin Chadwick stated
that the annual loss of life from filth and bad ventilation is greater than the loss from death or
wounds in modern wars. (Doc 6) With foods being contaminated, it was obvious that people
would have died from infection and disease. In Manchester during this time, people were dying
rapidly due to many reasons. The Lancer, a British medical journal, published a work stating the
average death in certain places. More of the working class would be likely to die faster than a
regular artisan or trader. (Doc 8) The main reason this happened is obvious. It was because the
working class would live in poor conditions, and would be overcrowded. With this being said, the
workings class condition was not any better than how they

Culture In The Middle Ages
Imagine going back in time with no stove, microwave, fast food, restaurants, grocery stores, or
refrigerators. Technology today gives us access to safer, healthier, and quicker food. The Middle
Ages was a time of culture deterioration. Throughout this period it wasn t known for it s food or
good diet. In medieval times, most people only ate two or three types of food. After the agricultural
revolution, peasants did not have a lot of access to a variety of food. They grew what they ate,
which was also collected for a tax. Peasants typically grow things like potatoes, corn, leeks, barley,
rye and wheat. Compared to hunter gatherer societies prior to the agricultural revolution, peasants
were very unhealthy. They only ate the same two to three

Timothy Mcveeigh Research Paper
When people think of Oklahoma, they usually think about flatlands and waving wheat. The
thought of terrorism would never come into mind. This is exactly what the people of Oklahoma
City would ve been thinking if asked about terrorism. Sadly, on the day of April 19, 1995,
Oklahoma and the nation was shocked as the unthinkable happened. The rest of the world stood
still, and watched as people were rushed from the building. Families received information about
their loved ones, and soon learned that they were no longer living. Parents were also sickened by
the fact that their children would never be able to go to daycare again. As for the man in charge of
this operation, his slow but authorized death was watched by families and friends of the victims.
The rest of the nation should ve been able to view this great punishment along with the families
who were affected. Timothy McVeighwas a young child who grew up just like any other kid in
America. He grew up in a town called... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

people believe that Timothy McVeigh should not get what he wished for. He wanted the whole
nation to witness his death because he believed that it would prove his point. His view on his own
execution, was his way of showing that the government was corrupt. He believed that the
government was unconstitutional and that they were using McVeigh as a cover. No matter his
view, it would never change the fact that he killed innocent people and children. Many Americans
realized this, and they wanted to witness his final moments. The people should have been able to

Michel Foucault s Conception Of Discourse
By definition discourse simply means communication, but it can encompass a whole different idea
which relates to why we say what we say or do what we do in society a cerain way. The discourse
theory was first presented by French philosopher Michel Foucault which states that discourse is
simply systems of thoughts composed of ideas, attitudes, courses of action, beliefs and practices
that systematically construct the subjects and the worlds of which they speak.
For instance, the idea of discourse can be seen with the whole idea of 9/11. Before September 11th,
2001 the numbers 9 and 11 had no apparent meaning, but after the whole incident simply saying the
numbers 9 and 11 have a whole significant meaning around the globe. The event ... Show more

The government, or more specific the Bush administration was able to invade foreign countries,
including invading Afghanistan as a way to root out and fight terrorism. The government
consistently expressed that terrorist are dangerous and therefore we must do anything in order to
protect our country which made up discourses in our society through the power of the institution of
government which influenced society. The government was able to justify the use of force on
foreign countries, as a way to protect our country s national security , and society has never
questioned the government s actions because who would if it is protecting our country. Thus, with
the acceptance of these ideas by society the government was able to justify their actions like
increasing airport security, and invading Afghanistan because they know how to protect our
country. The new discourses relating to terrorism allows the institutions like the government use
their power, in post 9/11 can use extreme measure to deal with them. A similar instance is the
discourses present in school relating to the role of teachers and students. In the classroom there is
already existing discourses that are ingrained in our

Electronic Voting Is A Bad Idea Essay
Electronic voting machines can be seen as an improvement to many Americans, such as those with
disabilities and citizens with a first language other than English. However there are downsides to
the new approach that outweigh the benefits of the new voting system coming in to place.
In the passage, Electronic VotingIs a Bad Idea , there are numerous reasons stated advocating
against the use of EVMs. In paragraph one it is said, According to at least one study, poll
workers are often poorly trained on how to use EVMs. Sometimes the workers don t even know
how to turn the machines on! In Everyone Should Be Able to Vote it mentions that one of the
main draws to using EVMs is that the disabled and those who need a ballot in a language other
than English would find it easier to use. The inexperience of poll workers would simply cause
more confusion to the voters with special requests. EVMs would also cause problems for citizens
who have limited knowledge on how to use computers. It is cited in paragraph 3 of Electronic voting
Is a Bad Idea , In a 2004 national survey, researchers from the California Insititute ... Show more

Stated in Electronic Voting Is a Bad Idea , Ohio spent $115 million on EVM upgrades in 2014.
Cash strapped states can t afford this upkeep, so they end up with aging machines that don t work
correctly. Machines that are not functioning properly can lead to errors such as the one that took
place in Virginia in 2014 where dozens of voters reported that the machines had incorrectly
recorded their votes. As well as technical errors, there is the possibility for malicious activity.
Again from Electronic Voting Is a Bad Idea , the author explains, Like all computers, EVMs can be
hacked. It doesn t require a genius to tamper with the machines. In 2007, It was found that
malicious software can transfer EVM votes for one candidate to another without the voter noticing.
That is an alarming thing to think

Essay On Argument Between Negros Art And Racial Mountain
Argument between Negros Art and Racial Mountain The Negros Art Hokum and The Negros
Artist and the Racial Mountain are well known article written by George S. Schuyler and
Langston Hughes and both of the articles were published in 1926. George Schuyler and Langston
Hughes both argue about Negros art in their article. George Schuyler argues that Negro art doesn t
exist on his article The Negro Art Hokum, while Langston Hughes disagrees with Schuyler s
article and writes a response to his article and argues that everyone has right to be them self and
everyone has their own beauty. Schuyler thinks that the Negros Art doesn t exist since all the work
done by African Americanwas formed on American soil so the work considers as American art, the
other reason is why he thinks that the Negros Art doesn t exist is that America is mostly surrounded

People can be what ever they want they can be black artist if they want or they can white artist if

be someone else who you are not. Langston Hughes gives an example where a young poet says I
want to be a poet not a Negro poet Hughes thinks that the young kid wants to be white. Form my
point of view the young poet said he wants to be poet but not Negro because in during 1920 s
white people were like superior and they have higher chances to become well known person. So
when the young poet said he doesn t want to be a Negro poet he actually meant that he would

Performance enhancing drug is now a universal issue that is destroying international sports
competition around the world. For several years the IOC (International Olympic Committee) has
tried to prevent this problem from spreading with very little positive result. A large variety of
actions were taken so as to help to eradicate this issue. Actions like testing ,supportive medical
treatment and educational programs had very little effect on doping. On the other hand professional
athletes are now using unnoticeable and stronger form of doping strategies , while modern

When you hear the words Fire Department what do you think of? For most people the first thing

bunker gear, helmets and air packs carrying axes and hoses. But it was not always that way. In
the beginning it was nowhere near how it is today. Fire Fighting is defined as the action or

George Frederickson State Of Social Equity

The State of Social Equity in American Public Administration. H. George Frederickson. National
Civic Review, winter 2005, pp. 31 38.
George Frederickson s article, The State of Social Equity in American Public Administration,
analyzes the evolution of social equity in American public administration, outlines examples of the
ever widening social equity gap, and charges public administrators to walk the talk about social
equity. In his thesis statement, Frederickson argues that available data suggest that despite the long
history of public administration and the enormous contribution it has made toward ensuring a more
equitable society, the American society has become less equal in the social, economic, and political
life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Frederickson aptly makes the connection between public administration and democracy and warns
of the grave consequences of treating the issue of social equity, which is central to these tenets
superficially. He warns that the foundation of democracy is threatened by a weak social equity
regime. It is the point that has caught my attention.
The author was able to draw a correlation between social equity and democracy. He argues, If
disparities of participation and influence become further entrenched and if average citizens give up
on democratic government unequal citizenship could take on a life of its own, weakening American
democracy for a long time to come. With this assertion, the writer posits that societal inequality,
due to unequal citizenship is a direct threat to the survival of America s democracy. People who
feel left out of the system may develop apathetic attitudes toward their civic duties by staying out of

Two Accounts: Broken Spears and Bernal Diaz In every historical event there tends to be
conflicting sides, each member has their own point of view based on a plethora of statistics. These
statistics include but are not limited to, socio economic classes, race, geographical boundaries,
gender, etc. When two cultures interact for the first time there is bound to be some discrepancies
over what truly occurred. These discrepancies are portrayed quite well through Bernal Diaz s The

that the interpretations do not match up in these two selections. This makes it hard to believe

another significant difference is the intention of the Spaniards. In Diaz s story he claimed, ...that

One medication would be the bone remodeling process. There are two different stages of the
bone remodeling process. The first stage is bone resorption. Is is the breakdown and the removal
of the bones. During respiration special cells which are osteoclasts on the bone s surface dissolve
bone tissue and create small cavities. The second stage is the bone formation. During formation
other cells also known as osteoplasts fill the cavities with new bone tissue. Bone resorption and
bone formation usually take place in close order and remain balanced. An imbalance in the bone
remodeling occurs in aging in both genders. It can occur with other conditions. An imbalance can
result in bone loss and eventually osteoporosis and broken bones. Another medication would be
anabolic drugs. Teriparatide, a form of parathyroid hormone increases the rate of bone formation
and is in a distinct category of osteoporosis medicines called anabolic drugs. The goal of
treatment with teriparatide is to build bone and lower the risk of breaking bones. This is the only
medicine for osteoporosis approved by the FDA that rebuilds bone. There are also antiresorptive
medicines. Biphoneates, calcitonin, denosumab, estrogen and estrogen agonists/antagonists are an
antiresorptive medicines. They slow the bone loss that occurs in the breakdown part of the
remodeling cycle. When people start taking these medications they stop losing bone as quickly as
before. They still make bone at the same pace as before. The bone density may increase. The
treatment goal is to prevent bone loss and lower the risk of breaking

Cardiac Muscle Analysis
A heart is made from Cardiac muscles which are only found in the heart, this muscles share
similarities with skeletal muscles, but they also have special properties which include automaticity
and unlike skeletal muscles, the heart does not have to be stimulated by nerves to contract. This is
because action potentials begin spontaneously in the pacemaker region in the right atrium and
spread through the ventricles in an automatic, rhythmic cycle in the heartall cardia cells can
depolarise and repolarise. This type of actions in the heart occur spontaneous and in a rhythmic
fashion, which causes a normal heart beat to occur. Normal heart beat is maintained by pace
maker cells which are in the sinoatrial node in a mammalian heart (in a frog s heart the sinus
venosus have similar functions like the sinoatrial node). There are also pacemaker cells I the

Taking a Look at Photosynthetic Pigments
Photosynthetic pigments
Introduction
Some animals and most plants use photosynthesis to convert light energy into chemical energy. The
energy that is created can be stored and is accessed later on by consumers. The consumers of the
organisms break bonds while digesting the plant material and the stored energy is released into their
perspective systems. The entire process of photosynthesis can be summarized as carbon dioxide and
water reacting with light to create sugar, water and oxygen. Although put deceivingly simple terms,
the process of photosynthesis energy conversion can be broken into two different reaction
pathways, a light independent reaction and a light dependent reaction. In the light independent
reaction, the energy stored by the plant as ATP and NADPH is used to fixate carbon dioxide and
create sugar. Inversely, the light dependent reactions use the absorption of light to produce ATP and
high energy electrons that are stored. The absorbing molecules found within the plant are referred
to as pigments and each one absorbs different wavelengths. For example, chlorophyll absorbs red
and blue light while other pigments absorb all other wavelengths of light that are left over. The
other pigments found in plants fall into a group called carotenoids. Within the carotenoid group, the
wavelengths for violet and blue light are absorbed. To understanding pigments in plants in relation
to light, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and spectroscopy are used to test the

Dorothy Day Research Paper
Courage is a cardinal virtue every human being needs. Courage is doing something frightening
you are for the right being even if you are alone in your belief. Many regular humans have used
courage also. For example Dr. Martin Luther King jr. stood up for all African Americans, even
though almost everyone did not agree with him. He eventually helped end segregation by
raising awareness. Sadly, Dr. Martin Luther King jr. was killed just for his beliefs. Today we
celebrate a holiday for his great bravery. Bravery is a synonym of courage. Almost all saints in their
life have shown courage. One saint that had courage was Saint Francis of Assisi. Saint Francis was
a rich man, however he ignored all his money for God. He gave up his wealthy life just for his
savior. Saint Francis would help sick people just like how Jesusdid. He would approach Lepore s
even if people thought he was crazy. Saint Francis of Assisi was a brave soldier in the army,
having no fear knowing that God was present with him. Saint Maximilian Kolbe had a vision of

Dorothy Day was born on November 8, 1897. She had 3 brothers and one sister. Later on she got

talk as good as we do today and sound funny when speaking. In this time of period, people did not
have the great education that most of us get now. He got taken out of school when he was eleven,
because his dad died and it was time for him to step up and take that roll. He decided to try the
army, but it was not the roll for him.
Sawyer had a few jobs. His favorites, besides writing, was when he drove tug boats. The life on
the Mississippi, influences big time on his writing, because he grew up right next to it and had

gold from someone and got lots of money from that. He traveled to about seven different places.
He started a diary when he first moved to Hannibal, Mississippi
Mark Twain, even though he does not sound as good as we do, he continues to make an

The Bi-Polar World Order Essay
Under the ruins of the World War II (WWII), a new world order was beginning to appear. The old
and weak European powers, were devastated from the war, and could no longer hold the world on
its shoulders. Subsequently, new superpowers had to take over the control; they were the USSR
and the USA. Soon after the end of WWII, new international tensions became apparent after the
break of the Grand Alliance (Taylor, 1993, p. 49). The disagreements between the new
superpowers grew to a point where the Cold Warbecame a fact. That new world order split the
world ideologically into two camps; the anti imperialist(USA) and the anti capitalist(USSR)(Ibid,
p.51).The ideological war was underlined by a geopolitical transition, subsequently creating... Show

With the start of the Cold War, however, the concept was developed and incorporated within its
rhetoric (Dodds, 2000, p.61). For Agnew, the term began to be referred to the newly formed
states, product from the ongoing wind of change (Taylor, 1993, p.55), and other states that were
outside the settled spheres of influence of the superpowers (Agnew, 1998, p.112). However, in
the Cold War rhetoric the Third World still referred, in certain a certain sense, to another way the
Third Way. According to Agnew, those states signified the resistance to the dominating political
and economic discourse of the Cold War (Ibid, p.113). Those resistances led to the creation of the
Non Alignment Movement (NAM), in 1961. It included, member states, such as Egypt, India and
Yugoslavia. The idea of the movement, according to Dodds(2000, pp.57 8), was to resist the
geopolitical pressures of the Cold War, and to establish a forum where common problems could be
discussed, without any interference from the superpowers. As it appeared this wasn t the only
rationale behind the creation of NAM. In the NAM summit of 1973, in Algiers, the member states
committed to pursue a New form of International Economic Order (NIEO), aimed at reducing the
economic and political gap between the North and the South (Ibid, 58). These events were in
conjunction with the rise of oil prices, declared by

This adaptation of the Mayan Empire illuminates a prophecy, surrounding Jaguar. The movie

All in all, the movie was fun to watch. It was exciting and had a lot of great action. I liked it
about ten times better than I originally thought I was going to. I wish it would have more

being violently hammered to death. Apocalypto helped me to better understand the Maya

Asset Value Of A Mutual Fund Essay
A mutual fund is one of the investment programs that is a pool of funds from many investors, and
trade in securities such as diversified holdings, stocks, bonds, mortgages, money market
instruments, other securities etc... Professional portfolio managers use the money from the
investors to buy securities to meet the funds investment objectives. Investors own units that
represent a proportionate share of all of mutual funds assets. Net asset value per unit (NAVPU) is
used to process the price for the individual unit of the mutual fund. Net asset value will change is
due to the fluctuation (rise or fall) in the market value of the asset held by the funds.
Mutual funds are under securities regulations. The Mutual Fund Dealers Associations of Canada is
national self regulatory organization in the Canadian mutual fund industry. The MFDA regulates
and oversights the business conducts of its members, and their representatives to protect the
investors and reinforce public confidence in mutual fund industry.
The advantages of the Mutual funds are professionally managed by portfolio management, and
attempt to generate income such as capital gains on sales, dividends on stocks or interest on bonds
for the investors. Most of Investors purchase in mutual funds due to the lack of time or expertise to
manage their own portfolios. Investing in a mutual fund is a relatively inexpensive to a small
investor to get a full time portfolio manager to control or monitor their investments.

Contemporary Art from Brazil Over the years, Brazilian culture played an important role in

her dramatic scenarios incorporating water, the night sky and billowing seas, that transform
exhibition spaces into places of meditation on the passing of time and the relationship of humans
to nature. Moreover, I really consider Carla as inspirational artist because her work makes you
think differently about Brazil, how it is created and how it has a lot of races mixed with one
culture and one nation. In addition, I liked how they presented their traditional culture by simple
works as Lugar para um corpo ( Place for a Body) which is done by Sonia Gomes, this artwork
shows us how they are simple and very naturel. On the other hand, I ve been looking forward to
diversity of the artworks to learn more broadly about Brazil such as education, trade and the
history of art in Brazil. In nutshell, I believe that USF Contemporary Art Museum has an amazing

The Circulatory System and Fluid Dynamics Essay
1.Conductive arteries Conductive arteries are the most proximal compartment of the coronary
arterial system. Their diameter is generally ranging from 500 Ојm up to 2 5 mm. These are large
epicardial coronary arteries that work as a capacitance function for the blood flow. They have very
low resistance to blood flow and therefore, the pressure drop along the length of conductive arteries
is negligible. The conductive arteries have an inbuilt characteristic of maintaining the shear stress
by changing epicardial dilatation. This characteristic is called being responsive to flow dependent
dilatation. They are not very responsive to intravascular pressure or metabolites. [1]
Prearterioles Prearterioles are the intermediate compartment to ... Show more content on

This would help to maintain a constant pressure at the origin of the arterioles. The entire process
is vasodilatory in nature and takes places due to the release of vasodilators. Nitric Oxide (NO) is
one of the most common vasoactive substances. They are released by the endothelium as a response
to the shear stress changes in the coronary arteries. Since the entire process is about automatic
dilatation of the coronary arteries and proximal arterioles in response to changes in pressure, it is
called as endothelial dependent dilatation. [1][4][5]
3.The arterioles are very responsive to the changes in the concentration of metabolites released by
the myocardium, unlike the conductance arteries and the prearterioles. Arterioles play a key role
in regulating the blood flow across it and also maintaining the metabolic balance. The arterioles
remain very relaxed and balanced i.e. they have a good resting tone. When the myocardium
releases metabolites, there is an increase in the oxygen consumption by the metabolites. As a result
of this, the arterioles dilate and decrease the resistance of blood flow in the entire network. This in
turn decreases the pressure in distal prearterioles. Thus, the vessels dilate. As the distal prearterioles
and the arterioles dilate, the shear stress in the larger prearterioles and conductance arteries
increases. Thus,

The Ancient Mariner
All humans have the ability to imagine anything, regardless of whether it s realistic or not. As a
result, the human imagination can go beyond one s own horizon and expand indefinitely. Samuel
Taylor Coleridge emphasizes the importance of the imagination in his poems. Therefore, in his
poem, The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, he uses supernatural forces to describe the vividness of
the human imagination. When the Ancient Mariner stops the Wedding, he holds him with his
glittering eye and the wedding guest listens like a three years child. (line 15) The way the Mariner
look at the Wedding guest can conclude that the Mariner has some type of mysterious and magnetic
power that attracts people to listen to his tale. The Mariner s glittering eye also symbolizes that the

Barabas And Hamlet Research Paper
Christopher Marlowe is well known for his tragic Marlovian character, the morally ambiguous
hero. Barabas of The Jew of Malta is a prime example. His character is greedy, ruthless, and the
murderer of the citizens of Malta. Yet the audience still roots for this character as he commits sin
after sin in the name of justice. He is ambitious and charismatic, and unjust circumstances earn him
sympathy. Shakespeare, inspired by the idea of a villainous hero, creates a marlovian character with
a twist. The character of Hamletexhibits the same qualities of the Marlovian character, but lacks to

His ploy of madness is nothing but a delay of action. Hamlet is highly aware of the severity of
the crime he is planning to commit and bides his time in taking any formal action. His hesitation
comes from his awareness of his own moral ambiguity. Hamlet expresses contempt for his
cowardliness but admits hesitation as the ghost, may be the devil...perhaps out of my weakness
and my melancholy, as he is very potent with such spirits, abuses me to damn me (Shakespeare
2.2.628 632). With this he acknowledges the possible consequence on his soul for his crime.
Once Hamlet gains the proof he hunted for of Claudius guilt, he continues with his excuses.
Hamlet believes if Claudius is killed while he is praying his soul will be forgiven and go straight
to heaven. The Danish prince claims this is hire and salary, not revenge (Shakespeare 3.3.84),
therefore losing an uncomplicated opportunity to kill Claudius. Due to his hesitation throughout
the play, enough time passes for a murder plot to be conspired against him. This leads to his
ultimate downfall but also springs him into action. In the final scene, Hamlet has only moments to
live and morality is no longer of value. Here he is at his most Marlovian, as he vindictively murders

Mother Child And Father Child Relationships Essay
Mother Child and Father Child Relationships
Parent Child Relationships, Parental Psychological Control, and Aggression: Maternal and Paternal
Relationships written by Murray, Dwyer, Rubin, Knighton Wisor and Booth LaForce (2013) sought
to understand the role of paternal and maternal parenting in predicting child developmental
outcomes. Specifically, the study focused on the examination of the extent to which quality father
to child and mother to child relationships moderate or lessen the impact of adversities arising from
ineffective parenting practices on adolescent aggression that may follow. Literature Review
Murray et al. (2013) acknowledged the direct correlation between aggression and parent child
relationships. Also, the authors observed that peer influence among the adolescents is on the
increase and that parents play a significant role in shaping the group s aggression outcomes.
Therefore, the central purpose was to foster a completion of measures of youth aggressive behavior,
the quality of parent child associations, and psychological control. In turn, the results were used to
understand the significance of parenting behaviors such as psychological control, monitoring
knowledge and parental support in determining the nature of adolescent aggression, as well as other
related problem behaviors that include delinquency. Overall, Murray et al. (2013) sought to explore

Power supply is a reference to a source of electrical power. A device or system that supplies
electrical or other types of energy to an output load or group of loads is called a power supply
unit or PSU. The term is most commonly applied to electrical energy supplies, less often to
mechanical ones, and rarely to others. Here in our application we need a 5v DC power supply for
all electronics involved in the project. This requires step down transformer, rectifier, voltage

continuously involved God in the family s activities (Kelly 1). Additionally, Kelly says that his
father s austere, puritanical, and authoritarian personality helped to mold the public character to
his son who was later to become a quiet, unskewed mathematician (1). The Dodgeson s were a
family centered around their faith where they would attend two church services on Sundays,
practice constant Bible reading, participate in no work or play on Sundays, and eat cold meals in
order to give the servants breaks on the Sabbath (Cohen 6). Early in life, Carroll began insisting his
father teach him advanced concepts such as Latin, mathematics, the classics, and English literature,
and his father then also taught him religious doctrine which he accepted and followed. This
teaching allowed Carroll to begin his writing and educational pursuits early, thus creating a young
boy infatuated with logical aspects of society and a joy of literature exposing him to topics found
in his writings (Cohen 7). Despite his involved family, Carroll preferred quiet

Flashbulb Memory Research Paper
A flashbulb memory is an exceptionally clear reflection of an important event (openstax 8.2). In
most instances, people can recall the weather, what they were wearing, dialogue, etc.
A personal flashbulb memory I have is the day my grandpa died. That day July 10, 2012 I visited
my grandparent s house. It was just a quick visit to drop off some dishes because we were headed
to vacation bible school. Every time I leave my grandparent s house, I give both of them a hug, but
I was in such a rush that I did not that day. Immediately after VBS, we got the call that my grandpa
was in the hospital. He had died of a heart attack. It was completely unexpected. We drove straight to
the hospital. When we arrived, my grandma, aunts, uncles, and cousins

Importance Of The Pillars Of Public Administration
Pillars of Public Administration and Application to PA Leadership
Understanding the pillars of public administration is a vital way for leaders to gain perspective
when leading successfully. Among these six pillars of public administration, the leadership style
addresses a connection with any civic organization.
Politics/administration dichotomy when viewing this opposition, it should be seen as politicians
writing and making rules while bureaucrats implement and put in place the policies and programs
for the public to utilize. Administration and politics are seen as two separate components where
they should not interface with one another. Even with them being a separate field of study, they
have no choice but to integrate. As Woodrow Wilson looked at how politics and administration
were forming, he felt the importance of government employees conduct themselves in a
professional business manner while ensuring their accountability of providing proper services to
the people and not partake in political philosophies. Politics are aligned with elected officials who
write and pass the policies to be implemented by government agencies which are then applied by
civil servants. By achieving this responsibility, public sector employees are required to embrace the
values and principles to ensure efficiency, legitimacy, and fairness within any level of government.
Therefore, public administrators are seen to uphold integrity within government, be liable to the
public and

Medicinal Effects Of Mushrooms And Their Metabolites Essay
Mushrooms were known and consumed as food in ceremonies as far back as prehistoric times.
Throughout the history, mushrooms were used in different cultures for their medicinal and tonic
properties (Gunde Cimerman, 1999). The longest tradition of using edible mushrooms for
medicinal purposes is in China. Mushrooms represent a major and as yet largely untapped source of
powerful new pharmaceutical products. The most significant medicinal effect of mushrooms and
their metabolites that attracted the attention of the public in the recent years is their antitumour
property. Many pharmaceutical substances with potent and unique properties were isolated from
mushrooms and distributed worldwide. Many of them are not strictly pharmaceutical products but
represent the novel class of dietary supplements of approximately 10,000 known species of
mushrooms, 2000 are safe and 300 have significant pharmacological properties (Hobbs, 1995,
Miles and Chang, 1997). Mushrooms are nutritional functional food and as a source of
physiologically beneficial and nontoxic medicines. They have been reported to have significant
pharmacological effects or physiological properties such as bio regulation, maintenance of
homeostasis, regulation of biorhythm, cure of various diseases, and prevention and improvement of
life threatening diseases such as cancer, cerebral stroke and heart disease. They have been also
demonstrated to have effective substances for decreasing blood cholesterol, hypolipidemic,

Literary Analysis of “Everything That Rises Must Converge”
Literary Analysis of Everything That Rises Must Converge Flannery O Connor s short story
Everything That Rises Must Converge is about racial judgment in the south in the 1960 s. O
Conors main focus in this story is how the white middle class viewed and treated people from
different races in the 1960 s. The story is an example of irony, redemption as well as a struggle of
identity among the characters. The main characters in O Connor s story are Julian an aspiring
writer, who works as a typewriter salesmen, and his mother who is a low middle class racist white
woman who has strong views about thvxe African American race. Both Julian and his mother are
great depictions of the white mindsets of racial integration in the... Show more content on

Which is the reason he is so hateful to his mother when it comes to the subject of race, he feels like
he is better and smarter then her, even when some of her motives are pure and not meant to
come off as racist or hateful. He brings up the fact that he believes that he is too intelligent to be
a success which shows how truly high he views himself. We see irony throughout this story the
main example of Irony comes from Julian s view of himself. Julian shows anger and disproof of
his mother throughout the whole story, eve though he may be just as judgmental as his mother,
but because he thinks he accepts them he still feels better about himself. His mother talks about
how she had gotten him through college, and straightened his teeth to make sacrifices for him;
but Julian doesn t see that the same way. He s mother see s him as successful, and in all honesty
he is not. He sells typewriters so he is just a common worker nothing high and powerful. He
continuously imagines himself in his families old mansion, but still more accepting then his
family. He mentions that he has a first rate education at a third rate college which shows how he
clearly wasn t superior due to his schooling. He wasn t a professional at all. Julian fails many times
at proving his superiority too his mother. We see this when he attempts to try and make friends with
the African American man on the bus who is reading the paper next to

Universal Basic Income Analysis
Implementing a universal basic income in Canada would give disadvantaged groups greater
equality in society by giving them more power and freedom in their lives. Because of its
unconditionally, it would create less pressure on women to remain in unpleasant or degrading jobs
and allow them to pursue the career or lifestyle of their choosing. Basic incometends to have some
political support across the ideological spectrum but, each ideology amends the context and design
in which they determine it should be implemented. Basic income through the ideological lens has
diverse viewpoints when debated. The Libertarian case for basic income is centered around.... The

They believe that basic income would take the place of governments current state of
paternalism, it would be more cost effective than the welfare state and it limits the power of the
government because the people would have more money to do with as they choose. Citizens can
buy property and invest their money without having to go through lengthy governmental
processes. This creates a limitation of governments reach into citizen s personal affairs and
gives them the negative liberty that libertarians desire. It would allow citizens to be free from
governmental interference in their everyday lives because people could make their own
decisions on how to deal with their property. The ideology believes that liberty was negative
liberty freedom from coercion or invasion of the government and this leads them to support basic
income because it creates more negative freedom by distancing people from the government.
People can do what they want in their personal or work life and they are free from interference
because of the unconditional income that cannot be taken away. This income can be used in
whatever way that those who receive it wish to do with it granting them more control and power to
be held responsible for their own

Zeitgeist is the spirit of the age, as the dictionary defines it to be, but in my own terms it is the paranoia or scream of a given epoch. For instance, the international fads like high speed Internet, diminutive cell phones that miraculously slide and fit comfortably in your jean pocket, and convenient photo taking digital cameras reflect the zeitgeist of many developed countries of the past decade. We see these items all over place on expressway billboards and during the two minute commercial breaks that disrupt whatever televised program happens to be on the screen. • 4. The Disaster Of South America And Asia Experience A... Landslides The Oso landslide in Seattle, Washington took 43 lives in 2014. (Metcalfe, 2015) New technology is used to determine the areas that a potential landslide could occur. A landslide is a shift of land down a slope. Using geographic information systems to determine the probability of landslides can save lives. North America experiences relatively less landslides than countries in South America and Asia. Steep slopes, excessive rainfall, unstable soil, and seasonal dry periods are the main reasons that South America and Asia experience a greater number of landslides than North America. (Shahabi, 2015) In North America, Seattle experiences the most landslides with over 100 since 2007. (Metcalfe, 2015) Seattle experiences large amounts of rainfall and is prone to steamrolling walls of muddy debris. (Metcalfe, 2015) Geographic information systems(GIS) allows us to visualize and interpret data to determine if a pattern is forming. GIS is used to compare different alternativities to help support a decision. (DeMeritt, 2013) GIS maps are formed to help show possible landslide areas. (DeMeritt, 2013) The maps are formed by using remote sensing, satellite images, and aerial views. (Shahabi, 2015) The caution areas are usually on large slopes, the edges of cliffs, or areas with little to no vegetation. Individuals can take necessary precautions when warned about a possible landslide. The goal is to save lives and prevent injuries. When a large storm is noticed, the areas prone ... In the time of the Industrial Revolution, Manchester was a developing country, becoming a leading textile manufacturing center after the invention of the cotton mill was created in 1780. But for every action, there is an opposite reaction. Whether it was a drastic growth in population and how that affected Manchester, or the unsanitary conditions that workers went through every day, or how the working class was affected with all the reforms going on, Manchester at the time went through some dramatic issues. Population in Manchester overtime grew drastically. This was all due thanks to the invention of the cotton mill. For example, in the image starred, it shows how population grew over time. More issues such as sickness, and death arose due to the overcrowding of people and the unsanitary conditions they lived in. Thomas B. Macaulay, a social historian, states people live longer because they are better fed, better lodged, better clothed, and better attended in sickness. (Doc 3) This without a doubt means that if people had better conditions in living, and not as much overcrowding, they would live longer. One big issue that was an ongoing problem during this time was disease and infection. Disease would take a lot of lives, and people could not do anything about it because, because they did not know how to fight it. Edwin Chadwick stated that the annual loss of life from filth and bad ventilation is greater than the loss from death or wounds in modern wars. (Doc 6) With foods being contaminated, it was obvious that people would have died from infection and disease. In Manchester during this time, people were dying rapidly due to many reasons. The Lancer, a British medical journal, published a work stating the average death in certain places. More of the working class would be likely to die faster than a regular artisan or trader. (Doc 8) The main reason this happened is obvious. It was because the working class would live in poor conditions, and would be overcrowded. This is exactly what the people of Oklahoma City would ve been thinking if asked about terrorism. Sadly, on the day of April 19, 1995, Oklahoma and the nation was shocked as the unthinkable happened. The rest of the world stood still, and watched as people were rushed from the building. Families received information about their loved ones, and soon learned that they were no longer living. Parents were also sickened by the fact that their children would never be able to go to daycare again. As for the man in charge of this operation, his slow but authorized death was watched by families and friends of the victims. • 8. Michel Foucault s Conception Of Discourse By definition discourse simply means communication, but it can encompass a whole different idea which relates to why we say what we say or do what we do in society a cerain way. The discourse theory was first presented by French philosopher Michel Foucault which states that discourse is simply systems of thoughts composed of ideas, attitudes, courses of action, beliefs and practices that systematically construct the subjects and the worlds of which they speak. For instance, the idea of discourse can be seen with the whole idea of 9/11. Before September 11th, 2001 the numbers 9 and 11 had no apparent meaning, but after the whole incident simply saying the numbers 9 and 11 have a whole significant meaning around the globe. The government was able to justify the use of force on foreign countries, as a way to protect our country s national security , and society has never questioned the government s actions because who would if it is protecting our country. Thus, with the acceptance of these ideas by society the government was able to justify their actions like increasing airport security, and invading Afghanistan because they know how to protect our country. The new discourses relating to terrorism allows the institutions like the government use their power, in post 9/11 can use extreme measure to deal with them. However there are downsides to the new approach that outweigh the benefits of the new voting system coming in to place. In the passage, Electronic VotingIs a Bad Idea , there are numerous reasons stated advocating against the use of EVMs. In paragraph one it is said, According to at least one study, poll workers are often poorly trained on how to use EVMs. Sometimes the workers don t even know how to turn the machines on! In Everyone Should Be Able to Vote it mentions that one of the main draws to using EVMs is that the disabled and those who need a ballot in a language other than English would find it easier to use. The inexperience of poll workers would simply cause more confusion to the voters with special requests. EVMs would also cause problems for citizens who have limited knowledge on how to use computers. Is is the breakdown and the removal of the bones. During respiration special cells which are osteoclasts on the bone s surface dissolve bone tissue and create small cavities. The second stage is the bone formation. During formation other cells also known as osteoplasts fill the cavities with new bone tissue. Bone resorption and bone formation usually take place in close order and remain balanced. An imbalance in the bone remodeling occurs in aging in both genders. It can occur with other conditions. Cardiac Muscle Analysis A heart is made from Cardiac muscles which are only found in the heart, this muscles share similarities with skeletal muscles, but they also have special properties which include automaticity and unlike skeletal muscles, the heart does not have to be stimulated by nerves to contract. • 20. Taking a Look at Photosynthetic Pigments Photosynthetic pigments Introduction Some animals and most plants use photosynthesis to convert light energy into chemical energy. The energy that is created can be stored and is accessed later on by consumers. The consumers of the organisms break bonds while digesting the plant material and the stored energy is released into their perspective systems. The entire process of photosynthesis can be summarized as carbon dioxide and water reacting with light to create sugar, water and oxygen. Although put deceivingly simple terms, the process of photosynthesis energy conversion can be broken into two different reaction pathways, a light independent reaction and a light dependent reaction. In the light independent reaction, the energy stored by the plant as ATP and NADPH is used to fixate carbon dioxide and create sugar. Inversely, the light dependent reactions use the absorption of light to produce ATP and high energy electrons that are stored. The absorbing molecules found within the plant are referred to as pigments and each one absorbs different wavelengths. For example, chlorophyll absorbs red and blue light while other pigments absorb all other wavelengths of light that are left over. The other pigments found in plants fall into a group called carotenoids. Within the carotenoid group, the wavelengths for violet and blue light are absorbed. • 23. The Bi-Polar World Order Essay Under the ruins of the World War II (WWII), a new world order was beginning to appear. The old and weak European powers, were devastated from the war, and could no longer hold the world on its shoulders. Subsequently, new superpowers had to take over the control; they were the USSR and the USA. Soon after the end of WWII, new international tensions became apparent after the break of the Grand Alliance (Taylor, 1993, p. 49). The disagreements between the new superpowers grew to a point where the Cold Warbecame a fact. However, in the Cold War rhetoric the Third World still referred, in certain a certain sense, to another way the Third Way. According to Agnew, those states signified the resistance to the dominating political and economic discourse of the Cold War (Ibid, p.113). Those resistances led to the creation of the Non Alignment Movement (NAM), in 1961. It included, member states, such as Egypt, India and Yugoslavia. The idea of the movement, according to Dodds(2000, pp.57 8), was to resist the geopolitical pressures of the Cold War, and to establish a forum where common problems could be discussed, without any interference from the superpowers. As it appeared this wasn t the only rationale behind the creation of NAM. In the NAM summit of 1973, in Algiers, the member states committed to pursue a New form of International Economic Order (NIEO), aimed at reducing the economic and political gap between the North and the South (Ibid, 58). Their diameter is generally ranging from 500 Ојm up to 2 5 mm. These are large epicardial coronary arteries that work as a capacitance function for the blood flow. They have very low resistance to blood flow and therefore, the pressure drop along the length of conductive arteries is negligible. The conductive arteries have an inbuilt characteristic of maintaining the shear stress by changing epicardial dilatation. This characteristic is called being responsive to flow dependent dilatation. They are not very responsive to intravascular pressure or metabolites. [1] Prearterioles Prearterioles are the intermediate compartment to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would help to maintain a constant pressure at the origin of the arterioles. The entire process is vasodilatory in nature and takes places due to the release of vasodilators. Nitric Oxide (NO) is one of the most common vasoactive substances. They are released by the endothelium as a response to the shear stress changes in the coronary arteries. Since the entire process is about automatic dilatation of the coronary arteries and proximal arterioles in response to changes in pressure, it is called as endothelial dependent dilatation. [1][4][5] 3.The arterioles are very responsive to the changes in the concentration of metabolites released by the myocardium, unlike the conductance arteries and the prearterioles. Arterioles play a key role in regulating the blood flow across it and also maintaining the metabolic balance. The arterioles remain very relaxed and balanced i.e. they have a good resting tone. When the myocardium releases metabolites, there is an increase in the oxygen consumption by the metabolites. As a result of this, the arterioles dilate and decrease the resistance of blood flow in the entire network. This in turn decreases the pressure in distal prearterioles. Thus, the vessels dilate. As the distal prearterioles and the arterioles dilate, the shear stress in the larger prearterioles and conductance arteries increases. Thus, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
