Characterism In Dracula By Bram Stoker s Dracula
Dracula
Dracula is a horror novel written in 1897 by Bram Stoker. Since the publication of this novel on May
26, 1897, it has inspired thousands of authors; they have recreated it and added more dramatic
characteristics to it.
Nowadays its common to know what vampires are, but back in those days when the novel was
published it was something new and people got scared when they heard the name Dracula . Today
many people reflect enthusiasm by watching tv shows or even movies about it.
The novel Dracula begins with an English lawyer named Jonathan Harker who works with his boss
selling land. One day his boss got so sick that Jonathan was sent to Castle Dracula to sell some land.
He must travel all the way to Transylvania. On his journey, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In an interview on The Howard Stern Show, Lopez accused Mencia of appropriating 13 minutes of his
material in Mencia s HBO special. He also claimed he had a physical altercation with Mencia over the
alleged appropriation.[4][5] Complaining about the cancellation of his television series Lopez
declared TV just got a lot whiter! and the fact that his show was cancelled and replaced by Cavemen
which only aired for a few episodes before its cancellation. Lopez says that ABC caused over a
hundred of his show s staff to become jobless.[6] Lopez frequently mentions his hatred for Eric
Estrada. According to Lopez, he met Estrada when he was a teenager and Estrada was in the zenith of
his career. Estrada refused to shake the teenager s hand, and Lopez has hated him ever since. Lopez
mentions this story whenever he gets the opportunity, telling the story while guest hosting The Jim
Rome Show, and saying Fuck that puto. In reference to Estrada in his comedy special America s
Mexican, Lopez uses this as a warning to everyone that celebrities should always be nice to their fans
as they do not know who they (fans) will grow up to be.

Beyond Imagination
Beyond Imagination
Can a lack of understanding in an individual lead them to total misbelief? Modernity has completely
blinded the English of the dangers in which inhabit their own abandoned traditions and superstitions
that once protected them. By analyzing the various reasons for particular individual s reason for
denying any phenomenon beyond what the human brain can comprehend, this may reveal insecurities,
lack of understanding, and lack of tradition.
Identifying a reasonable cause for believing that the traditions and superstitions that once were
occupied by many people are now nearly nonexistent will reveal if this statement is indeed true. Bram

However, when it comes to the spirit of innovation, it is seem that this rationalized rigidity of roles
and functions form a barrier to carry out the plan on higher level. (Marshall, 1919cite in Maqbool,
Zakariya Paracha, 2011 ). Marshall (1919) argued that the specialized engineers were controlled by
the managers and plans and they pay most attention to the operation and the immediate outcome
instead of the strategic perspectives. Secondly, Locke (1982) agreed with Taylor that money is what
the worker wants most was not entirely misguided. However, Oswald (2000) mentioned that the
reason of shopfloor recalcitrance in the form is not simply of his tropical interest. Moreover, bonus
systems grabbed the attention of human beings and lead them to be Materialistic. (Maqbool, Zakariya

employees is not uncommon. As result, Employees who are only there for the paycheck are likely to
jump ship more often than employees who actually enjoy their work (Skylergreene ,2012).Lastly, with
respect to authoritarianism, Taylor considered that the role of manager will not control by someone

An Analysis of Important Motifs in Sound and Editing
Sound and editing are both very crucial concepts in film. In Tom Tykwer s Run Lola Run (1998), the
way the narrative structure is set up can make the differentiation of diegetic and non diegetic sound
difficult for the viewer. The relationship between sound and the narrative structure, however, also
makes the viewer more aware of the film s artificiality. In King Hu s Come Drink With Me (1966), we
see how the major motifs of editing emphasize the unrealistic and fantasy qualities of the characters.
Tom Tykwer s Run Lola Run is a change in the structure of narrative as we commonly see it. A
standard narrative consists of a beginning where there is a sense of normality, a disruption of that
normality that transitions into the middle, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These screams have an interesting connection to the rhythm of the film; each scream happens at a
different point in time. In the first scenario, it happens in the beginning, then in the middle during the
second scenario, and at the end in the final scenario.
The music interacts with dialogue in the film; the techno beat is, at times, accompanied by vocals,
which correspond with not only what is happening in the scene, but also the internal diegetic dialogue
another important motif.
Never, Never, Never, Never, letting go/Never giving up, Never saying no/Just go, go, I never stop/I
never think/To do, do, do, the right thing/I want to go/I want to fight/I want to rush/I want to run/I
want to see you again/Under the setting sun/We will kiss/We will laugh/We will be a part/Of what is
said to be/A union of the heart
These vocals become more prevalent in the second part of the film, after Lola failed the first time. We
understand from the visuals and Lola s internal thoughts that she means to succeed. Noise is possibly
one of the most important parts of sound in this film. There are so many different motifs, the most
prevalent being the clicking sound. The film opens with the credits and the ticking of clocks. The
ticking of the clocks is both diegetic and nondiegetic; At times when the clocks are shown onscreen, it
is obvious that those sounds are heard by the characters whereas often the ticking is used as not only a
reminder of time, but also

Mental Barriers In Willy Loman s The Yellow Wallpaper
When this story was first written in 1892, women were commonly forced into the stereotypical
domesticated lifestyle by their overly controlling male authority figures. When someone is trapped in
a mindset that they don t want to be part of them begin to feel caged. Not only would they feel
physically caged due to the lack of control, but also their sense of self is caged behind mental barriers.
This is what happens to the narrator of The Yellow Wallpaper. The tearing down of the wallpaper
throughout the story symbolizes the deterioration of the stereotypical domestic life forced upon her,
this ultimately subsides to her more rebellious and free spirited self. This is possible due to the weak
mental walls put in place by her husband. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the hell, specifically the husband, had been putting her through. Infact, this event could have been the

Story Of Grandmother
The Story of Grandmother
Religion has always been around for many years and will continue to live on. Since 2014, there are an
estimated 4,200 different religions, all over the world each believing in different things Having their
own set of rules and tradition that must be followed. Storytelling became a way to give people advice
or telling people what would happen if they disobey their religious rules or tradition. In the story of a
grandmother, it critiques religion for the way it can lead to snap judgments and a loss of freedom.
Religions set a snap judgment of people in the same religion or even in different religions. Each
religion slandering the others, some examples are Christianity believe the pagans worships the devil
while The Romans slandering Christians say that they are atheist and cannibals. Each religion creating
conflict with the next sometimes this can lead to war, which is called the Holy wars killing each other
in the name of their gods. While it can lead to many conflicts outside of their religious group they are
a bigger one inside. If a person from the group ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Venezuelan Revolution
This will be as much a tale about the Venezuelan people as it is about a returning immigrant who
knows his homeland largely from memories and media. Though my experiences have shaped my
outlook, my intention is to enter the country as a neutral and impartial writer, cognizant of daily life,
yet oblivious to the fiery political discourse which consumes too many discussions.
This project s purpose is to record a people who have lived through the promises and outcomes of the
Bolivarian Revolution, an idea that captured Venezuela s spirit and spread across 16 Latin America
nations as the Pink Tide. The poor and working class will be a fundamental component of this story as
I investigate the role the revolution has played in shaping the lives of this perpetually overlooked
group of people. Simultaneously, the nature of these issues will create a portal into the world of
Venezuelan heritage, traditions, and political and civic culture. What I write will be the reality of the
situation; the interpretation will be left up to the reader.

Advertising Strategies For The Highest Product Sales
Thesis: Advertising strategies that lead to the highest product sales are the ones that utilize effective
branding and represent products honestly and clearly, capture the viewers attention, and remain in
viewers memories. Advertisers spend millions of dollars creating effective television ads and
commercials so consumers will purchase their products. Television advertising, the most powerful
form of advertising, enables both audio and video advertising messages. Unlike other means of
advertisements, like the newspaper, radios, websites and magazines, television advertising is quick
and memorable. Based on research reports, millions of people watch television every day, and it is one
of the leading leisure activities for human beings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the television advertising strategies that leads to the highest product sales is to utilize effective
branding and represent products honestly and clearly so that the product is represented clearly in the
commercial. An example of this is Tony the Tiger for Kellogg s cereal. Tony the Tiger appears in
commercials as an animated character interacting with children in a live action world. To be able to do
this, Kellogg and other cereal companies spend millions of dollars annually in advertising. By having
characters like these, viewers are able to immediately identify what brand is being presented. Another
example is the Bounty commercial form Procter and Gamble. This commercial compares Bounty and
bargain paper towels by showing them being used beside each other. This Bounty commercial shows
that Bounty paper towels are 50% stronger and more absorbent than bargain paper towels because the
commercial creators know that consumers would choose the brand that is known as the strongest.
Bounty is a little higher priced, but the commercial indicates that a person can use the towels longer
than the bargain brand towels. These commercials make people aware of the brand and cause the
viewers to be more likely to choose it over others. Many commercials do not present their brand name
clearly, and this leaves viewers confused as to what the commercial is selling. For

Music in Greek Theatre and Religion
Music was a large part of everyday life in Ancient Greece. The people thought of music as a gift from
their gods, associating different instruments with specific gods. Their term for music was not limited
strictly to vocal and instrumental melody, but referred to dance, lyrics, and even poetry reading. Music
was brought into many facets of life for Ancient Greek citizens, from weddings and funerals, to
banquets and religious festivals. Education and Drama were also parts of Ancient Greek life to which
music was integral.
Many of the instruments used in Ancient Greek music were thought to be created by the gods. The
lyre by Hermes, the aulos by Athena, and the panpipes by Pan. The nine muses personified the various
aspects of music in the broader sense of the term. Calliope represented epic poetry and rhetoric, Cleo s
domain was history, Erato signified singing, Euterpe represented lyric poetry, Melpomene s
significance was in singing tragedy, Polymnia s domain was hymns to the pantheon and to Greek
heroes, Terpsichore delighted in dancing, Thalia signified comedy, and lastly Urania represented
astronomy. The nine muses were born daughters of Zeus and the titan Mnemosyne after the two
copulated for nine consecutive nights. Apollo led a chorus comprised of the nine muses, and they are
often associated with him.
The auloi were primarily used in worship of Dionysos, the Greek god of wine,

Traditional Medicine And Alternative Medicine
Before we get into what exactly African Traditional Medicine is we have to talk about what exactly
Traditional Medicine is in general. Traditional Medicine is often referred to as folk medicine or
alternative medicine. Folk Medicine is one of the oldest and most traditional forms of a health care
system in Africa and has been tested time and time again. This method is an ancient form of healing
that humans have used to cope and deal with many diseases that have threatened human existence.
Which explains why Traditional Medicine is so broad and diverse. Different cultures have developed
different forms of homegrown healing methods which explains why there is no universally accepted
definition to the term of Traditional Medicine (Traditional Medicine). According to the World Health
Organization, Traditional Medicine is the sum total of the knowledge, skills and practices based on the
theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in
the maintenance of health, as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of
physical and mental illnesses. Traditional healer, on the other hand, is a person who is recognized by
the community where he or she lives as someone competent to provide health care by using plant,
animal and mineral substances and other methods based on social, cultural and religious practices
(Traditional Medicine). Traditional Medicine used to be the popular choose of health care systems to

Foreshadowing In Oedipus The King
Foreshadowing is a tool used by playwrights and authors of all types as a means to direct the audience
into a path of questioning and intrigue throughout the course of a novel or play. After reading both of
these theatrical works, it struck me just how often I dismiss/fail to acknowledge the big red flags stuck
within the ground of the text and thus proceed to give myself incredibly undeserved credit at the end
of every reading for having figured out what was going to happen all by myself . Therefore, I have
taken it upon myself to examine the importance of this technique in order to credit the playwrights and
show how their use of foreshadowing creates tension, credibility and a specific atmosphere in both of
their fictitious worlds. Oedipus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Fourth Amendment Is On Privacy
The search and seizure stipulate that the Fourth Amendment is about privacy. It gives a prevision of
protection of personal privacy to every citizen s right, not to serve as a fixed protection against the
misuse of the government, but to be free from unreasonable government intrusion into individuals
lives. There is an understanding that one must know when looking into the Fourth Amendment and
expecting protection, that must be considered. It serves as a protection for the rights of the people
during police stops, arrests, searches and seizures of homes, papers and businesses. It has been placed
to be a legal mechanical device to ensure that people s rights are treated fairly under limited
circumstances from those who are in a legal position. The Fourth Amendment stretches out to
demonstrate the protection of search and seizure. This constitutional protection is provided to
individuals in many scenarios. When police have a valid search warrant, a valid arrest warrant or the
belief that probable cause in which a crime has been committed it shows that law enforcement has
validation or at least a solid belief of probable cause during a search or seizure, but just so you
understand the police can override your privacy, your concerns and conduct a search of you and your
personal space. Law is a concrete form of rules that has been placed in a foundation that was

The Rights Of Women And Education
A sufficient education is something that Westerner s like myself, have taken for granted for a long
time. It s easy to, in all honesty, because we have been raised in a society in which education has been
held at the utmost importance. In the United States women are held at an equal level with men, we ve
fought for this sense of equality for several years and unfortunately, not all women across the world
have had that same success. Women from other countries do not have half of the rights that we do here
in the United States, and this is something that we seem to never really think about. Saudi Arabia is
just one of the many countries around the world in which the women do not have as many rights as
men do. Being a feminist at heart with a hunger for education, it piqued my interest to research the
rights of women and education in Saudi Arabia. If I m being honest, I had expected it to be much
worse than it is, yet it could be so much better at the same time. Saudi women should have every right
to educate themselves in any aspect they want, and though they have fought their way to gaining some
leverage, there are still necessary steps that need to be taken. Saudi Arabia is a country in Southeast
Asia with a population of approximately twenty seven million people. Of that twenty seven million
people, it is estimated that 30% of them are migrant workers. ( Saudi Arabia Demographics Profile

between China and Western markets is closing up, many multinationals are still keen to be a part of
China s growth story. Which means, the cheaper labor is an arbitrage opportunity for us, and there
have many companies trying to gain profit from running business in China. This will be another
comparative advantage for us with our investment.

Racial And White-Dominated Society In Ralph Ellison s The...
The Invisible Man was an interesting book to read. It showed the event of African American racism in
1930 through the eyes of the narrator. Ralph Ellison shows his journey through the white dominated
society. Ellison intended outcome is to us about the African American society; tell us about the racial,
white dominated society; tell us about his experiences in 1930. Ellison intends to write about the
African America society in 1930. He tells us the African Americans are constantly discriminated. They
are blind to the fact that they are being mistreated and avoid knowing the truth. They try to find their
identity in a White dominated society. The Narrator thinks that he is alive to support and gain
recognition of white people. He spends many years trying to blend into society. Another example is
Mr. Bledsoe. He is an African American person who puts blending into white society above his own
people. He declares that he would bring down every African American before he loses his job. Ellison
shows how African Americans try to join white society and those that have been excepted keep it as an
accomplishment and would never give it away. The second intended outcome was to tell us about
racial, white dominated society. He tells us that they discriminated African Americans and believed
that every one of them was not a human. They also believed that every African American was a tool.
The Narrator tells us that he was thrown into a battle royal for the white people to enjoy. Then after
the battle, he was shown money, but it was a fake and a trick to entertain the white people. A second
example is the statue of the founder. The Narrator sees that the statue shows a symbolism that white
people still did not believe that African Americans were not entirely free. Another example is when the
narrator is in the hospital. While he is at the hospital the doctor tests electrical shock therapy on the
narrator and even tries to castrate him. The white people believe that African Americans are not
entirely free and that they can be used for their own entertainment or for their testing. The third
intended outcome is to tell us about his experience through this time period. He shows us that he

Indigenous People And The Media
Indigenous Studies is a very interesting unit as I am able to learn and discover more in depth about
Indigenous People. However, the lecture that got me into deep thoughts was on Indigenous People and
the Media. I kept asking myself; why do we view people that way? Why is it we change impressions
when it s a different race to ours? Now thinking back, I ve come to realise that media has a big
influence to our everyday lives. Indigenous Australians in media are not highly recognised for positive
news. The way the media interprets sources of information about the Indigenous Peoples has change
the views on what we think of them. Now this has become a huge effect on the Indigenous Peoples as
it lead to stereotyping, racism and discrimination. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mainstream media tends to focus on the negative side about Indigenous Peoples like the problems and
the relationship between the Indigenous Peoples and the public (McCallum, Waller, 2013).
Educational systems are the same, as the students learn more on the negative history of the Indigenous
Peoples instead of the contemporary arts and performances of Aboriginal history. This leads to the
view of many Indigenous children feeling outcast as people stereotype on their race when they don t
(Salote Bovoro, 2008, citied in Korff, 2016). We cannot deny that everyone stereotypes, including
myself but I have become more aware that I should think before I do or say something. I was taught in
previous years that I should ask myself, what if someone said that to you, how would you feel? That s
the same with Indigenous Peoples, they don t want to be treated that way because yes, everyone is
different, but we don t need to point it out and criticise about it.
RACISM/DISCRIMINATION
As the unit is about Indigenous Peoples, people thinks that this is the most sensitive topic as people
tend to think before they say something, unlike how they describe people who are the same as them.
During the lecture on People and Media , it was a discussion where we were to describe the picture
that is shown to us. For the first half, it showed pictures of the everyday lifestyle of ordinary Non

Theme Of Materialism In The Rocking Horse Winner
In D.H. Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner, many symbols are used throughout the story in order
to further develop the theme of materialism wreaking havoc on personal relationships, as well as to
draw attention to certain plot elements that contribute to the theme. The most obvious symbol is the
rocking horse. The rocking horse that the story centers around is multifaceted and calls attention to
many different things. From an emotional standpoint, it can be said that the rocking horse represents
Paul s intense craving for the love of his mother. Paul s mother, Hester, is most importantly
characterized by her inability to love her children, feeling as if they had been thrust upon her, and she
could not love them. Hester, being a materialistic woman, is constantly concerned with her family s
financial standing, as well as her family s ability to furnish the lavish lifestyle that she and her
husband desire. The symbolism in Paul s rocking horse heavily ties into her materialistic ways. The
rocking horse itself, a Christmas gift to Paul, is an item that shows them living beyond their means, as
expensive and splendid toys filled the nursery. The way in which Paul uses the rocking horse, to bring
money to his mother through betting, shows the detriments of materialism, as this frenzied riding leads
to Paul s death. Though Paul s riding is often assumed to merely be his attempt to forge a relationship
with his mother, it can also be seen as Paul exploring his sexuality, whether this be directed toward his
mother or otherwise. Paul is described as madly surging on the rocking horse among other descriptors,
which can evoke sexual imagery in the mind. Paul s rocking horse can be interpreted as a sexual
symbol for masturbation. Paul s age puts him within the prime window to begin exploring his
sexuality, something that is often done through masturbation. The exploration of his sexuality could
suggest the existence of an oedipal complex between Paul and his mother, especially due to her
evident sexual dissatisfaction and lack of intimacy, as she married for love, and the love turned to
dust. However, it isn t ever explicitly made clear that this is the case. While Paul s rocking horse is a
strong symbol

Frankenstein Treatment Of Women Essay
The way in which author s choose to depict their characters can reveal a great deal about not only the
authors themselves but the society they lived in. In many works of British Gothic fiction, women are
often omitted from the story, depicted in a negative light, or underdeveloped and easily forgotten. The
novels Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, and The
Monk by Matthew Gregory Lewis, are not exception in their treatment of women. The treatment of
women in these novels reveals an underlying misogyny that ultimately reduces women to no more
than objects. Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, is odd in that in spite of being written by a woman, the
women of the story are subjected to the same treatment as the women of the other novels mentioned.
One would think that as a woman, Shelly would want to empower her female characters in a way that
is possible in fiction that may not be in real life. Both female characters, Elizabeth and Justine, are
forgettable at best and the way they are introduced to us is rather telling.
Among these there was one which attracted my mother far above all the rest. She appeared of a
different stock. The four others were dark eyed, hardy little vagrants; this child was thin, and very fair.
Her hair was the brightest living gold, and despite the poverty of her clothing, seemed to set a crown
of distinction on her head. Her brow was clear and ample, her blue eyes cloudless, and her lips and the

King Claudius Research Paper
Claudius is the king of Denmark and is a powerful king by showing many different uses of the power
he took. Claudius first of all gained his power from his brother who he had killed. He has kept the
murder covered up and retains his power. Claudius also married the queen who has given even more
power to his throne. Lastly, Claudius is king of Denmark and all these actions fuels the power set for
him during the play. One of the actions he took that started Claudius rule was the murder of Hamlet s
original father. The murder was covered up and not noticeable. During the play Claudius begins to feel
guilty for his actions and says, There is not rain enough in the sweet heavens to wash it white as snow
(Shakespeare 3.3.45 46). Claudius pleads for mercy and says that he wants his sins washed. This also
shows how he is now feeling guilty for hamlet s fathers murder.
Claudius also says, O, my offence rank, it smells to heaven; It hath the primal eldest curse upon, A
brother s murder. (Shakespeare 3.3.36 39). Claudius here tells of his guilt again and to him it s like a
stain that won t go away. After killing old Hamlet, Claudius retains his power as the king. Another

Dbq Suez Canal
The construction of the Suez and Panama Canals greatly affected overseas trade and commerce. The
Suez Canal, which connected the Mediterranean and Red Seas though the Isthmus of Suez, had a large
impact on the world economy by greatly reducing the amount of travel time required to send goods to
different regions, The Panama Canal, which was built through the Isthmus of Panama, also had a
similar effect on commerce by connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. There were different
motivations for the building of the Panama and Suez Canals, and their construction was hindered by
challenging obstacles. The French used the idea that Egypt would flourish with the building of the
Suez Canal to motivate the Egyptians to give permission for its construction. Document 2 stated the
benefits of building the Suez Canal, which included a safer route to travel to Mecca and Medina, and
an increase in the influence that Egypt would have on the world economy. Document 5 depicted the
unification of different cultures that would have occurred from the completion of the Suez Canal. The
form of propaganda depicted in the cartoon would have further motivated the French to support the

This increased evidence that smoking is associated with poor wound healing could be viewed as bias
though, as most of the studies have looked at surgical wounds and few have been concerning chronic
wounds (Sorenson, 2003). Nutrition Mani (2003) claims that nutrition is a fundamental role that must
be adopted in the treatment and healing process of pressure ulcers. A balanced diet with adequate
nutrients should be key for all patients deemed to be at risk of pressure ulcers. Both nutrition and
hydration are the basic components in promoting wound healing and maintaining normal tissue
integrity. Patients at risk of pressure ulcers should be nutritionally assessed at regular intervals
(Shepard. 2003). This could have been adopted by the use of assessment tools such as, The Nutritional
Screening initiative. This tool includes nutritional screening at regular intervals and a comprehensive
assessment that includes nutritional assessment, functional assessment and evaluation for depression.
This comprehensive approach allows the nurse to quantify the nutritional problems and initiate the
appropriate resources that will meet with the individual needs (Bryant, 2000). Another optional tool is
the Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool or MUST. This has been designed by the Malnutrition
Advisory Group (MAG) of the British

Justification by Faith Essay
Justification by Faith
In verse 15, Paul writes, We who are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners Paul seems to be telling his
gentile reader that the Torah has no bearing on their salvation. I feel that he purposely or inadvertently
gives the law merit more merit than intended by suggesting that Jews are not sinners because they
received the law. He draws a distinction between himself and the gentile sinners yet he is telling his
audience that the ways, some of which are still a part of his own way of life, are irrelevant. He seems
to almost make a separation of culture and religion. He seems to be saying that the rectitude of the
Jews dates from birth, because the Jewish religion is a part of their culture. Peter claims to ... Show

It was such an incredible experience that he felt that every one needed to know that it was by faith
alone that they could be justified. As a devout Jew he had followed the Law his entire life and felt it
important that people know that in spite of his doing all the works of the Torah he was not justified
before his vision.
Verse 17. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are
found sinners; is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid.
Some critics of this passage would argue that there are two sets of behavior standards given for
Christian and Jews. In order to obtain salvation in Jewish faith one must follow the rule of like and
ceremony. In order that a Christian obtain salvation they must only believe in Christ. Some were
worried that this new religion would be saturated by people who wanted to commit acts against the
law and still be saved because they professed to believe in Christ. The concept of grace and mercy was
a foreign one and harsh judgment was a reality of the day. The other part of this verse was, is Christ a
master of sin?
Paul knew that some would argue that if all Christian had to do was believe that Christ must be a
proponent of sin because he didn t threaten any penalty comparable to that of the old testament. Paul
inserted that Christ was certainly not a master of sin. The Martin Luther commentary of Galatians
states All who say that faith alone in Christ does not justify a

In the book Buffalo Jones Forty Years of Adventure written by Charles Jones, Jones describes the
Plain Indians as, The most tenacious of life than any race I have ever encountered. The Plain Natives
consisting primarily of Blackfoot, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Crow, Kiowa, Lakota, saw the bison a sacred
animal because it provided almost everything they needed to survive. A good bison kill would weigh
about 2,000 pounds, 800 pounds of which was good to eat. The natives could use the bladder and
stomach to store water and keep meet fresh, the hides were used as cover for teepees and the various
bones as weapons. The Plain Natives believed that the bison were created by the Great Spirit for the
soul purpose of keeping their tribes alive, making them cherish the bison as a literal life line. In Jones
s book, Jones depicts his encounter with Chief Big Indian of the Cheyenne tribe. In this way when
Jones shows Chief Big Indian where a herd of bison was, Chief Big Indian was ecstatic with
excitement, and signaled the rest of his hunters that he had found a herd. Within half an hour, 100
Indians came from miles away to the signaled spot. Every able bodied man from the tribe was out
hunting for bison. This shows how important the bison were for the natives. When a single herd of
bison was sighted it was so important that every man in the tribe would leave their wives and children
at risk to hunt down the herd. During the mid 1800 s, the American frontiersmen were

Writing Is A Process That I Have Learned
Writing is a process that I have struggled with throughout my entire life. Last semester in ENGL 1101,
I slowly began to understand the writing process. However, I still struggled with developing my
essays. One aspect of writing effectively, that I feel I lack, is confidence. Last semester, I was slowly
becoming more confident, but as the due date for this semester s first essay approached, that little
confidence seemed to disappear. The structure of the course, however, helped in gaining my
confidence back. My first official writing was a biography for the portfolio. This allowed me to
introduce myself for my professor. In less than a week, the major writing assignments started. As I
finished one essay and began the next, I slowly gained confidence as my teacher encouraged my
writing ability. One aspect of the writing process that was extremely helpful for building my
confidence was the revision stage. Although personal revisions were helpful, the peer revisions were
the most helpful for me. After the final essay, I felt much more confident in my ability to write. I
believe I have become a much more effective writer, and through the structure of my portfolio, this
will become evident.
The first aspect of my portfolio was the revisions of two of the major writing assignments. By going
back and reviewing and revising my essays, this allowed me to not only fix some of the major
mistakes that I made but also learn from them. I choose my second major writing assignment to

  • 10. An Analysis of Important Motifs in Sound and Editing Sound and editing are both very crucial concepts in film. In Tom Tykwer s Run Lola Run (1998), the way the narrative structure is set up can make the differentiation of diegetic and non diegetic sound difficult for the viewer. The relationship between sound and the narrative structure, however, also makes the viewer more aware of the film s artificiality. In King Hu s Come Drink With Me (1966), we see how the major motifs of editing emphasize the unrealistic and fantasy qualities of the characters. These screams have an interesting connection to the rhythm of the film; each scream happens at a different point in time. In the first scenario, it happens in the beginning, then in the middle during the second scenario, and at the end in the final scenario. The music interacts with dialogue in the film; the techno beat is, at times, accompanied by vocals, which correspond with not only what is happening in the scene, but also the internal diegetic dialogue another important motif. Never, Never, Never, Never, letting go/Never giving up, Never saying no/Just go, go, I never stop/I never think/To do, do, do, the right thing/I want to go/I want to fight/I want to rush/I want to run/I want to see you again/Under the setting sun/We will kiss/We will laugh/We will be a part/Of what is said to be/A union of the heart These vocals become more prevalent in the second part of the film, after Lola failed the first time. We understand from the visuals and Lola s internal thoughts that she means to succeed. Noise is possibly one of the most important parts of sound in this film. There are so many different motifs, the most prevalent being the clicking sound. The film opens with the credits and the ticking of clocks. Mental Barriers In Willy Loman s The Yellow Wallpaper When this story was first written in 1892, women were commonly forced into the stereotypical domesticated lifestyle by their overly controlling male authority figures. When someone is trapped in a mindset that they don t want to be part of them begin to feel caged. Not only would they feel physically caged due to the lack of control, but also their sense of self is caged behind mental barriers. This is what happens to the narrator of The Yellow Wallpaper. The tearing down of the wallpaper throughout the story symbolizes the deterioration of the stereotypical domestic life forced upon her, this ultimately subsides to her more rebellious and free spirited self. Since 2014, there are an estimated 4,200 different religions, all over the world each believing in different things Having their own set of rules and tradition that must be followed. Storytelling became a way to give people advice or telling people what would happen if they disobey their religious rules or tradition. In the story of a grandmother, it critiques religion for the way it can lead to snap judgments and a loss of freedom. Religions set a snap judgment of people in the same religion or even in different religions. One of the television advertising strategies that leads to the highest product sales is to utilize effective branding and represent products honestly and clearly so that the product is represented clearly in the commercial. An example of this is Tony the Tiger for Kellogg s cereal. Tony the Tiger appears in commercials as an animated character interacting with children in a live action world. To be able to do this, Kellogg and other cereal companies spend millions of dollars annually in advertising. By having characters like these, viewers are able to immediately identify what brand is being presented. Another example is the Bounty commercial form Procter and Gamble. This commercial compares Bounty and bargain paper towels by showing them being used beside each other. This Bounty commercial shows that Bounty paper towels are 50% stronger and more absorbent than bargain paper towels because the commercial creators know that consumers would choose the brand that is known as the strongest. Bounty is a little higher priced, but the commercial indicates that a person can use the towels longer than the bargain brand towels. These commercials make people aware of the brand and cause the viewers to be more likely to choose it over others. Many commercials do not present their brand name clearly, and this leaves viewers confused as to what the commercial is selling. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Music On Greek Theatre And Religion Heather Day Dr. Proksch MULT 2340 November 28, 2016 Music in Greek Theatre and Religion Music was a large part of everyday life in Ancient Greece. The people thought of music as a gift from their gods, associating different instruments with specific gods. Their term for music was not limited strictly to vocal and instrumental melody, but referred to dance, lyrics, and even poetry reading. Music was brought into many facets of life for Ancient Greek citizens, from weddings and funerals, to banquets and religious festivals. Education and Drama were also parts of Ancient Greek life to which music was integral. Many of the instruments used in Ancient Greek music were thought to be created by the gods. The lyre by Hermes, the aulos by Athena, and the panpipes by Pan. The nine muses personified the various aspects of music in the broader sense of the term. Calliope represented epic poetry and rhetoric, Cleo s domain was history, Erato signified singing, Euterpe represented lyric poetry, Melpomene s significance was in singing tragedy, Polymnia s domain was hymns to the pantheon and to Greek heroes, Terpsichore delighted in dancing, Thalia signified comedy, and lastly Urania represented astronomy. The nine muses were born daughters of Zeus and the titan Mnemosyne after the two copulated for nine consecutive nights. Apollo led a chorus comprised of the nine muses, and they are often associated with him. The auloi were primarily used in worship of Dionysos, the Greek god of wine, ... • 17. Traditional Medicine And Alternative Medicine Before we get into what exactly African Traditional Medicine is we have to talk about what exactly Traditional Medicine is in general. Traditional Medicine is often referred to as folk medicine or alternative medicine. Folk Medicine is one of the oldest and most traditional forms of a health care system in Africa and has been tested time and time again. This method is an ancient form of healing that humans have used to cope and deal with many diseases that have threatened human existence. Which explains why Traditional Medicine is so broad and diverse. Different cultures have developed different forms of homegrown healing methods which explains why there is no universally accepted definition to the term of Traditional Medicine (Traditional Medicine). According to the World Health Organization, Traditional Medicine is the sum total of the knowledge, skills and practices based on the theories, beliefs and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health, as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illnesses. After reading both of these theatrical works, it struck me just how often I dismiss/fail to acknowledge the big red flags stuck within the ground of the text and thus proceed to give myself incredibly undeserved credit at the end of every reading for having figured out what was going to happen all by myself . In the United States women are held at an equal level with men, we ve fought for this sense of equality for several years and unfortunately, not all women across the world have had that same success. Women from other countries do not have half of the rights that we do here in the United States, and this is something that we seem to never really think about. Saudi Arabia is just one of the many countries around the world in which the women do not have as many rights as men do. Being a feminist at heart with a hunger for education, it piqued my interest to research the rights of women and education in Saudi Arabia. If I m being honest, I had expected it to be much worse than it is, yet it could be so much better at the same time. Saudi women should have every right to educate themselves in any aspect they want, and though they have fought their way to gaining some leverage, there are still necessary steps that need to be taken. • 23. Racial And White-Dominated Society In Ralph Ellison s The... The Invisible Man was an interesting book to read. It showed the event of African American racism in 1930 through the eyes of the narrator. Ralph Ellison shows his journey through the white dominated society. Ellison intended outcome is to us about the African American society; tell us about the racial, white dominated society; tell us about his experiences in 1930. Ellison intends to write about the African America society in 1930. He tells us the African Americans are constantly discriminated. They are blind to the fact that they are being mistreated and avoid knowing the truth. They try to find their identity in a White dominated society. The Narrator thinks that he is alive to support and gain recognition of white people. He spends many years trying to blend into society. Another example is Mr. Bledsoe. He is an African American person who puts blending into white society above his own people. He declares that he would bring down every African American before he loses his job. Ellison shows how African Americans try to join white society and those that have been excepted keep it as an accomplishment and would never give it away. The second intended outcome was to tell us about racial, white dominated society. He tells us that they discriminated African Americans and believed that every one of them was not a human. They also believed that every African American was a tool. The Narrator tells us that he was thrown into a battle royal for the white people to enjoy. Then after the battle, he was shown money, but it was a fake and a trick to entertain the white people. A second example is the statue of the founder. The Narrator sees that the statue shows a symbolism that white people still did not believe that African Americans were not entirely free. Another example is when the narrator is in the hospital. While he is at the hospital the doctor tests electrical shock therapy on the narrator and even tries to castrate him. The white people believe that African Americans are not entirely free and that they can be used for their own entertainment or for their testing. The third intended outcome is to tell us about his experience through this time period. He shows us that he experiences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the lecture that got me into deep thoughts was on Indigenous People and the Media. I kept asking myself; why do we view people that way? Why is it we change impressions when it s a different race to ours? Now thinking back, I ve come to realise that media has a big influence to our everyday lives. Indigenous Australians in media are not highly recognised for positive news. Now this has become a huge effect on the Indigenous Peoples as it lead to stereotyping, racism and discrimination. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mainstream media tends to focus on the negative side about Indigenous Peoples like the problems and the relationship between the Indigenous Peoples and the public (McCallum, Waller, 2013). Educational systems are the same, as the students learn more on the negative history of the Indigenous Peoples instead of the contemporary arts and performances of Aboriginal history. This leads to the view of many Indigenous children feeling outcast as people stereotype on their race when they don t (Salote Bovoro, 2008, citied in Korff, 2016). We cannot deny that everyone stereotypes, including myself but I have become more aware that I should think before I do or say something. I was taught in previous years that I should ask myself, what if someone said that to you, how would you feel? That s the same with Indigenous Peoples, they don t want to be treated that way because yes, everyone is different, but we don t need to point it out and criticise about it. • 25. Theme Of Materialism In The Rocking Horse Winner In D.H. Lawrence s The Rocking Horse Winner, many symbols are used throughout the story in order to further develop the theme of materialism wreaking havoc on personal relationships, as well as to draw attention to certain plot elements that contribute to the theme. The most obvious symbol is the rocking horse. The rocking horse that the story centers around is multifaceted and calls attention to many different things. From an emotional standpoint, it can be said that the rocking horse represents Paul s intense craving for the love of his mother. Paul s mother, Hester, is most importantly characterized by her inability to love her children, feeling as if they had been thrust upon her, and she could not love them. Hester, being a materialistic woman, is constantly concerned with her family s financial standing, as well as her family s ability to furnish the lavish lifestyle that she and her husband desire. The symbolism in Paul s rocking horse heavily ties into her materialistic ways. The rocking horse itself, a Christmas gift to Paul, is an item that shows them living beyond their means, as expensive and splendid toys filled the nursery. The way in which Paul uses the rocking horse, to bring money to his mother through betting, shows the detriments of materialism, as this frenzied riding leads to Paul s death. Though Paul s riding is often assumed to merely be his attempt to forge a relationship with his mother, it can also be seen as Paul exploring his sexuality, whether this be directed toward his mother or otherwise. Paul is described as madly surging on the rocking horse among other descriptors, which can evoke sexual imagery in the mind. Paul s rocking horse can be interpreted as a sexual symbol for masturbation. Paul s age puts him within the prime window to begin exploring his sexuality, something that is often done through masturbation. The exploration of his sexuality could suggest the existence of an oedipal complex between Paul and his mother, especially due to her evident sexual dissatisfaction and lack of intimacy, as she married for love, and the love turned to dust. However, it isn t ever explicitly made clear that this is the case. While Paul s rocking horse is a strong symbol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 26. Frankenstein Treatment Of Women Essay The way in which author s choose to depict their characters can reveal a great deal about not only the authors themselves but the society they lived in. In many works of British Gothic fiction, women are often omitted from the story, depicted in a negative light, or underdeveloped and easily forgotten. The novels Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson, and The Monk by Matthew Gregory Lewis, are not exception in their treatment of women. The treatment of women in these novels reveals an underlying misogyny that ultimately reduces women to no more than objects. Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, is odd in that in spite of being written by a woman, the women of the story are subjected to the same treatment as the women of the other novels mentioned. One would think that as a woman, Shelly would want to empower her female characters in a way that is possible in fiction that may not be in real life. Both female characters, Elizabeth and Justine, are forgettable at best and the way they are introduced to us is rather telling. Among these there was one which attracted my mother far above all the rest. She appeared of a different stock. The four others were dark eyed, hardy little vagrants; this child was thin, and very fair. One of the actions he took that started Claudius rule was the murder of Hamlet s original father. The murder was covered up and not noticeable. During the play Claudius begins to feel guilty for his actions and says, There is not rain enough in the sweet heavens to wash it white as snow (Shakespeare 3.3.45 46). Claudius pleads for mercy and says that he wants his sins washed. This also shows how he is now feeling guilty for hamlet s fathers murder. Claudius also says, O, my offence rank, it smells to heaven; It hath the primal eldest curse upon, A brother s murder. (Shakespeare 3.3.36 39). This increased evidence that smoking is associated with poor wound healing could be viewed as bias though, as most of the studies have looked at surgical wounds and few have been concerning chronic wounds (Sorenson, 2003). Nutrition Mani (2003) claims that nutrition is a fundamental role that must be adopted in the treatment and healing process of pressure ulcers. A balanced diet with adequate nutrients should be key for all patients deemed to be at risk of pressure ulcers. Both nutrition and hydration are the basic components in promoting wound healing and maintaining normal tissue integrity. Patients at risk of pressure ulcers should be nutritionally assessed at regular intervals (Shepard. 2003). This could have been adopted by the use of assessment tools such as, The Nutritional Screening initiative. This tool includes nutritional screening at regular intervals and a comprehensive assessment that includes nutritional assessment, functional assessment and evaluation for depression. This comprehensive approach allows the nurse to quantify the nutritional problems and initiate the appropriate resources that will meet with the individual needs (Bryant, 2000). • 35. Justification by Faith Essay Justification by Faith In verse 15, Paul writes, We who are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners Paul seems to be telling his gentile reader that the Torah has no bearing on their salvation. I feel that he purposely or inadvertently gives the law merit more merit than intended by suggesting that Jews are not sinners because they received the law. He draws a distinction between himself and the gentile sinners yet he is telling his audience that the ways, some of which are still a part of his own way of life, are irrelevant. He seems to almost make a separation of culture and religion. He seems to be saying that the rectitude of the Jews dates from birth, because the Jewish religion is a part of their culture. Peter claims to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was such an incredible experience that he felt that every one needed to know that it was by faith alone that they could be justified. As a devout Jew he had followed the Law his entire life and felt it important that people know that in spite of his doing all the works of the Torah he was not justified before his vision. Verse 17. But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners; is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. Some critics of this passage would argue that there are two sets of behavior standards given for Christian and Jews. In order to obtain salvation in Jewish faith one must follow the rule of like and ceremony. In order that a Christian obtain salvation they must only believe in Christ. Some were worried that this new religion would be saturated by people who wanted to commit acts against the law and still be saved because they professed to believe in Christ. The concept of grace and mercy was a foreign one and harsh judgment was a reality of the day. The other part of this verse was, is Christ a master of sin? Paul knew that some would argue that if all Christian had to do was believe that Christ must be a proponent of sin because he didn t threaten any penalty comparable to that of the old testament. Paul inserted that Christ was certainly not a master of sin. The Martin Luther commentary of Galatians states All who say that faith alone in Christ does not justify a ... • 37. Writing Is A Process That I Have Learned Writing is a process that I have struggled with throughout my entire life. Last semester in ENGL 1101, I slowly began to understand the writing process. However, I still struggled with developing my essays. One aspect of writing effectively, that I feel I lack, is confidence. Last semester, I was slowly becoming more confident, but as the due date for this semester s first essay approached, that little confidence seemed to disappear. The structure of the course, however, helped in gaining my confidence back. My first official writing was a biography for the portfolio. This allowed me to introduce myself for my professor. In less than a week, the major writing assignments started. As I finished one essay and began the next, I slowly gained confidence as my teacher encouraged my writing ability. One aspect of the writing process that was extremely helpful for building my confidence was the revision stage. Although personal revisions were helpful, the peer revisions were the most helpful for me. After the final essay, I felt much more confident in my ability to write. I believe I have become a much more effective writer, and through the structure of my portfolio, this will become evident. The first aspect of my portfolio was the revisions of two of the major writing assignments. By going back and reviewing and revising my essays, this allowed me to not only fix some of the major mistakes that I made but also learn from them. I choose my second major writing assignment to ...
