The author visits the National Gallery of Modern Art and sees sculptures by artist Anish Kapoor, including large installations outdoors. One indoor piece called "Flesh" intrigues the author - it is a depiction of a red chasm made to look like raw, fleshy skin. The author interprets it as a representation of the vagina, the source of all human creation. The realistic detail of "Flesh" arouses the author, both physically and intellectually. The piece leaves the origin of what it depicts ambiguous and open to various interpretations.

This document discusses strategies for Harley Davidson to expand its brand in India. It notes that India is a diverse country with extreme wealth and poverty. While Harley Davidson is seen as a luxury brand for masculinity and freedom, it is unaffordable for most Indians. The document suggests that Harley Davidson should offer products at multiple price points to appeal to more income levels. It also recommends sponsoring political rallies to associate the brand with freedom and individual identity. Conducting market research and collaborating with existing customers and distributors could help pilot new product extensions for the Indian market.

This document discusses the evolution of virtual engagement strategies in college admissions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It notes that the pandemic accelerated the transition to digital engagement that was already underway. A spectrum of virtual engagement strategies has emerged, including fully pre-recorded content, live events, and on-demand content. Moving forward, successful strategies will involve the right mix of live, simulated live, and on-demand content. Data and analytics will be important to determine what new strategies are most effective. While admissions remains personal, the how and when of connections is changing.
Part 6 of 7 in the Series: Education in the Cloud. Introduction at: https://wrenchinthegears.com/2017/07/13/smart-cities-social-impact-bonds-public-educations-hostile-takeover-part-ii/
The National Consortium of Education Foundations presents 5 Emerging trends for consideration in innovative programs in support of K12 schools and school districts.
The pilot project used SIF to track student attendance across three jurisdictions (WA, SA, NT) to address issues with tracking mobile indigenous students who frequently change schools and cross state borders. SIF gathered attendance data from each jurisdiction and matched it centrally in a "Central Schools" application to provide a single view of attendance. This allowed daily tracking of attendance without creating a new data system. The pilot demonstrated that SIF can support complex cross-jurisdictional data sharing projects.
This document discusses trends in online higher education, including increased participation by both institutions and consumers. It notes that competition is growing as around 1,600 schools now offer online programs. However, information available to prospective students is often poor and directories are dominated by school-led rather than aggregator-led information. There is little standardized comparative data to help students choose between schools. The document argues greater transparency could help with student choice, differentiation, efficiency and accountability in the online education market.

Project>Login: From Curiosity to CareerJay Collier
The demand for computing and IT professionals is growing nationally, and these are well-compensated careers for those who are passionate about technology. Unfortunately, in Maine, as elsewhere, too few young and adult learners are discovering this profession, mastering foundational skills, and gaining relevant experience to succeed.
Maine’s Project>Login has been working with students, teachers, and professionals to chart a course from curiosity to career: from playing and tinkering to making and studying to mastering the practices and competencies that will help them thrive in their future roles: at home, at work, and in the community.
How can we help young and adults learners discover, explore, and pursue pathways to the computing and IT profession?
This document summarizes the key findings from a survey of over 2,800 college and university leaders regarding online education and MOOCs. The main points are:
1) A small percentage (2.6%) of institutions currently offer MOOCs, while 9.4% plan to, but over half (55.4%) remain undecided. Most (32.7%) have no plans for a MOOC.
2) Leaders see MOOCs as a way for institutions to learn about online pedagogy, but are unconvinced they are sustainable. They are concerned credentials for MOOC completion could confuse degrees.
3) While online education is seen as critical, leaders report
This document discusses the importance of data in education and provides an overview of key topics related to data use. It defines different types of data, sources of data, and how data can be used at various levels within the education system. This document summarizes the findings of a survey on dual enrollment programs conducted by AASA and Hobsons. Key findings include:
- Most respondents saw dual enrollment as benefiting students by giving them college experience and credits. However, barriers included requirements for instructor qualifications and difficulties transferring credits between institutions.
- The majority of respondents believed dual enrollment completion indicates college readiness and that the K-12 system should evolve into a K-14 system.
- Next steps discussed expanding dual enrollment opportunities and addressing challenges like credit transfer through partnerships between K-12 districts and community colleges. Two districts provided examples of how they deliver dual enrollment and early college programs.

THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

A Visual Guide to 1 Samuel | A Tale of Two HeartsSteve Thomason
These slides walk through the story of 1 Samuel. Samuel is the last judge of Israel. The people reject God and want a king. Saul is anointed as the first king, but he is not a good king. David, the shepherd boy is anointed and Saul is envious of him. David shows honor while Saul continues to self destruct.
