Ways We Helped The Environment
Batteries We have recycled 22,000 batteries. We have done this for 6 years.
Door Handles In are science class, students made door handles to remind teacher and students that when leaving the classroom, to turn off the lights, turn heater down and recycle paper.
B.U.I.L.D The 8 th  grade has a new class called B.U.I.L.D. Mrs. Hill wants to teach the 8 th  grade some ways to help the environment. Some of the ways we use energy is solar and wind energy.
Water Summit Every year, we attend the Water Summit.
Christmas Ornaments   This year during Christmas  time Mrs. Hill had a Ornament contest. Whoever had the most Eco-friendly ornament made up of 75% or more recycled materials gets to have a $20.00 gift card to Barnes and Nobel.
Jacob Banacki The leg shown in the picture is of a boy named Jacob Banacki. This happened when he fell into the Swartz Creek. He got cut by materials in the creek.
The New Tree April 30 th  2010, Swartz Creek planted a new tree. Dr. Pratt, Mr. Minore and the mayor of Swartz Creek Richard Abrams donated the tree to be planted at the main entrance of the school.
Oil Spill On April 29, 2007 around 400 gallons of gas was spilled into Swartz Creek river from a gasoline tanker at the Admiral Petroleum Company on Miller Road. After a storm the storm sewer carried all the gas into the river. Everybody in Swartz Creek were concerned about the life at the river. This was a tuff time for Swartz Creek and our habit that lives here but after Young’s Environmental   Cleanup came  every body and everything was back to normal.
Oil we found by the Creek On Friday the 30 th , Matt Yalink and Dakota Corwin found four gallons of motor oil and anti-freeze by our creek. Thanks to Mrs. Hill she took care of the oil.
