The 'location' or 'positioning', is one of the most valuable and underutilized information for an asset or a physical person. The possibility to extend enhanced collaboration solution, such as Spark, into processes and applications designed around the 'Science of Where' provide an incredible capability to solve industry-relevant problems, not easy or cost-effective to address today. The workshop deals with real-life use cases of Spark enabled solutions for asset tracking and asset protection. You will also learn how to use Cisco Spark to share asset location info within a biz process.
We talk a lot about Ai as the superpower for process and automation of jobs. But what about creativity? What happens when artists, coders, designers, technologists and industry professionals collaborate to promote creative applications of artificial intelligence in art, music, film, design and beyond? Can Ai ever truly be creative? Or merely just a super-tool for designers and artists to work with.
Curated by the BIMA Ai Think Tank, join BIMA and a panel of industry experts for this very special breakfast briefing on creative Ai and what that truly means for digital.

My Advice to the future african gis personnelCyhanaWilliams
Abstract
As technology evolves , other fields that apply it do same. Geographic Information System (GIS) being no exception.
In Africa, GIS needs more awareness to make room for the trained personnel. However, that does not mean that the future African GIS personnel should keep learning only what is available now.
Although Africa is still learning the applications of GIS in different sectors, the rest of the world is advancing quickly in automating and easing geodata acquisition, manipulation, analysis and visualization.
This means that African GIS Personnel should not advance their skills at the pace of their current GIS awareness level but they should advance at the pace of the rest of the world and be part of the movement to keep Africa up to date in the GIS evolution.
Hence , I wish to share some skills that I think will be needed in the futuristic GIS industry.

Wayfinding is a common problem among museums, and you might think it's necessary to spend a lot of time and resources to devise the perfect solution. The floorplan at the Met is quite complex, so when we set out to build a map feature for the Met App, we knew it would be a formidable challenge. If that weren't enough, our small team had only a short period of time to design and develop a mobile map that could be used on two native platforms, and, most importantly, would be useful for our visitors.
Instead of spending months building a product that we think our visitors want, we decided to build a minimum viable product (MVP) that our visitors could be using sooner rather than later. We then used a build-measure-learn feedback loop to iterate and perfect the Map to improve the day to day experience of our visitors. We will discuss the process behind building the Met App Map, and we'll share what we learned along the way.

IBM Big Data for Social Good Challenge - Submission ShowcaseIBM Analytics
Big Issues. Big Data. Big Solutions.
Big data exists in just about everything we use and do. It comes from phones, cars, roads, power lines, waterways, food crates, and innumerable other items you'd never think of as computers.
This data speaks volumes about our collective behavior and society - so let's use it to do something incredible!
IBM invited developers and data enthusiasts to take a deep dive into real world civic issues using big data and IBM Bluemix's Analytics for Hadoop service. They analyzed one of our curated datasets or brought their own and used Hadoop to create clickable and interactive data visualizations highlighting insights they found.
Join us for a Google+ Hangout with the participants to learn why they chose their projects, hear some of their challenges and delve deeper into the story behind their applications. #Hadoop4Good

Title: "Generative AI and Design: From Present Practice to Future Vision”
Abstract: "AI upskilling is a top priority for everyone who wishes to improve their productivity and creativity. I will share some simple examples of how I use generative AI tools today in my work; as well as who I follow to learn more advanced tricks. Despite today's many limitations, AI tool capabilities will continue to improve rapidly (including a new explosion of smartphones apps), so it is important to understand how AI may disrupt work, especially creative work (see for example this Harvard Business Review post - https://hbr.org/2023/04/how-generative-ai-could-disrupt-creative-work). With the larger goal of humanity-centered design (beyond human-centered design), all responsible actors can learn to invest systematically and wisely in becoming better future versions of themselves, with improved win-win interaction and change processes that maximize benefits and minimize harms to diverse stakeholders. In conclusion, I will share the X+AI vision (described in my co-authored book 'Service in the AI Era: Science, Logic, and Architecture Perspectives'), which describes a world design where we all possess a digital twin of ourselves - our trusted cognitive mediators."

Title: AI: Past, Present, and Future
Abstract: In 1956, the term "Artificial Intelligence" was coined for a workshop at Dartmouth. Since then there has been waxing and waning enthusiasm and investment, so called "AI Winters" after hype, did not live up to reality. In late 2022, with the release of ChatGPT, and over 100 million users in just 60 days, there is a new wave of hype, investment, excitement, and increased fears of AI use by 'bad actors' for misinformation and other harms to society. What are the future trajectories as this technology is tamed and becomes routine? Are we about to enter a 'golden age' of service in business and society, as technology comes to the service sector, as it came to agriculture and manufacturing in the past?
Bio: Jim Spohrer is a retired industry executive (Apple, IBM). In the 1970's, after graduating MIT with a degree in physics, he worked at an AI startup doing speech recognition with mathematical models. In the 1980's, after completing his PhD in Computer Science/AI & Cognitive Science at Yale, he moved to California to join Apple and work on AI for Education. In the late 1990's, he joined IBM as CTO of the Venture Capital Relations group during the internet investment boom, and later started IBM Research's service research area, led IBM Global University Programs, and led IBM's open source AI efforts. Jim's most recent co-authored book, "Service in the AI Era" was published in late 2022.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

6. Our story starts in the City Archives, where the collections present challenges…
7. The first of which was ORGANIZATION . With images stored in boxes based on the city unit they represented (Streets, Schools, etc.), finding any particular image was a significant challenge.
8. The second was PRESERVATION . The oldest negatives are combustible, and newer ones are prone to warping.
9. The third was ACCESS . To access an image, a visitor would have to go to the archives and have a valid research reason for entrance. Approximately 100 people per year did this.
10. Certain images and/or photos on this page are the copyrighted property of 123RF Limited, its Contributors or Licensed Partners and are being used with permission under license. These images and/or photos may not be copied or downloaded without permission from 123RF Limited The last was FUNDING . Addressing these challenges was unlikely to be an inexpensive endeavor.

We selected a variety of factors that contribute to sustainability, ranging from location in a state or federal tax incentive zone to environmental amenities like tree canopy to transit considerations like access to bus and regional rail lines. Retail businesses targeting markets may be interested in demographic factors like age and per capita income and proxies for environmental engagement like recycling participation.
Many of the ideas here are not new. Actually, they were developed here in Philadelphia by Ian McHarg, who was chair of the Landscape Architecture and Regional Planing department at the University of Pennsylvania
Now fast forward to the 1990’s. We’re interested in digital maps. This approach to compositing several digital maps was developed further by Dana Tomlin, who is now also a professor at University of Pennsylvania. Tomlin developed the computational vocabulary to perform this type of work – he called it Map Algebra. He’s also a really great teacher, so if you ever get a chance to take a class with him. Do it. He’s great.
So, these days people do this kind of work using desktop GIS systems. You are looking at the ArcMap application from ESRI
