Azavea is a company that focuses on spatial analysis, high performance geoprocessing, and user experience. They have developed techniques to dramatically speed up geoprocessing tasks from 10-30 seconds to under 50 milliseconds. This has allowed them to create interactive web applications like Walkshed.org that provide responsive geoprocessing for multiple simultaneous users. Azavea also works on projects with social value like stormwater modeling and crime analysis to help local governments and improve transparency. New technologies are changing what can be done with geospatial analysis and creating opportunities to rethink the user experience.
