• Selective breeding-(also called artificial selection) is the process by which
humans breed other animals and plants for particular traits.
• Inbreeding- is the production of offspring from the mating or breeding of
individuals or organisms that are closely related genetically, in contrast
to outcrossing, which refers to mating unrelated individuals.
• Outbreeding- (also called as hybridization) is the crossing of distantly
related organisms.
• Homozygous-A cell is said to be homozygous for a particular gene when
identical alleles of the gene are present on both homologous
chromosomes.
• Meiosis- is a special type of cell division necessary forsexual
reproduction in eukaryotes, such as animals, plants and fungi.
• Polyploidy- cells and organisms are those containing more than two
paired (homologous) sets of chromosomes
• Colchicine- a chemical that prevents a cell fro diving after its
chromosomes have replicated.
• Chromosomes- is a structure of DNA, protein, and RNA found in cells
Parallel verses
New International Version
• "'Keep my decrees. "'Do not mate
different kinds of animals. "'Do not
plant your field with two kinds of

of two kinds of material.
King James Version
• Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt
not let thy cattle gender with a
diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy
field with mingled seed: neither
shall a garment mingled of linen and
woollen come upon thee.
Treasury of Scripture
You shall keep my statutes. You shall not let your cattle engender with a diverse
kind: you shall not sow your field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment
mingled of linen and woolen come on you.
Context
• Keep My Decrees
You are to keep My statutes.
You shall not breed together
two kinds of your cattle; you
shall not sow your field with
two kinds of seed, nor wear
a garment upon you of two
kinds of material mixed
together.

Genetic Engineering
–it study or modify genes. Genetic engineering is applied in
many ways:
• In agriculture
Genetic engineers have produced several types of new
bacterias that help increase crop production. A
genetically altered bacterium helps some plants
resists frost damage.
• In industry
Recombinant DNA techniques can be used to improve
quality of products by people who make bread, wine,
cheese, and paper.
• In medicine
The production of insulin to treat people with diabetes is an
application of genetic engineering. The past ,doctors treated
diabetes with insulin gathered from farm animals. But animal
insulin can cause allergic reactions in some patients. Now, human
gene for insulin is inserted into bacterial plasmids, and the altered
bacteria make insulin identical to human insulin. This insulin does
not cause allergic reactions in patients, unlike the insulin extracted
fro farm animals.
