Every character has unique advantages in specific situations -
however, some qualities are necessary for all types of sales jobs.
Therefore it is a major task for salespeople to identify areas which
can be improved, and for management to know how to identify
“future sales professionals”.
All in all it’s about the perfect mix of all sales qualities which make
an individual a top performer in sales!
Five major qualities in sales
1. Enthusiasm: A salesperson should be proud about his service
or product and his company - clients feel and like it!
2. Honesty: A salesperson has to be honest to clients and
employer - in the long run hiding facts will be a disaster for his
company, his clients and his career!
3. Communication skills: A salesperson has to know how to talk,
but also how to listen - “listen to the client” is the keyword!
4. Experience & Education: A salesperson has to have a solid
educational background - that’s why e.g. many engineers are very
useful and common in technical sales!
5. Empathy: A salesperson should be able to put himself in his
client’s shoes. See things from another perspective - also called
social skills!
