Wet Beaver Creek Argumentative Essay
Wet Beaver Creek offers great views of Sedona s red rocks, cliff jumping for the adrenaline junky, and
prime creek side real estate for the observer.
The foot traffic can be a bit much, but it s still one of my favorite day hikes to share with others, both
Arizona natives and visitors alike. And when Arizona temps reach 100 degrees, it offers an escape to
Sedona s refreshing creeks and cooler weather.
Like I said earlier though, there s a lot of foot traffic and a lot of unprepared folks on the trail. I
remember stopping three times to give people water. Three groups who hadn t prepared for the trail
adequately. That s when I realized people could use a day hike essentials checklist, big time, whether
it s Sedona, Zion or somewhere in their neck ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clothing
It s best not to rely wholeheartedly on your smartphone apps. The smarter solution is to pack for
unforeseen circumstances and weather. I always hike with a comfortable pair of socks, a wicking fiber
shirt, and a backup shell in case of rain.
And yes, I hike in sunny Arizona, but weather snaps here on the trails like most any ridge or mountain.
Make sure your hiking clothing will keep you safe and uncompromised in the elements.
8. Sunscreen
We all burn. Some more easily than others, but the sun has it s way with us all in the end. Don t come
home with an embarrassing sunburn. I prefer SPF 35, but the most important number is one. Bring at
least one bottle of sunscreen and apply before you hit the hiking trail.
Seasoned day hikers know the importance of sunscreen and protecting their skin from excess rays.
9. Post hike Shoes
There s nothing quite like the feeling of kicking off your shoes after a long day of work. Multiply that
feeling by a million after you ve gone hiking. I normally have my Chacos waiting for me in the car,
but some normal flip flops or sneakers should do.
You might even check out some of the GORE TEXÂŽ SURROUNDÂŽ casual shoes as a great post hike

The Congo Free State Of The Zaire
The Congo Free State was a former state in Africa which is now entitled The Democratic Republic of
the Congo. It was created in the 1880s as the private holding of European investors. The Congo was
led by Leopold II, who was the king of the Belgians. The members of the Congo Free State military
intentionally maimed, murdered, tortured and raped millions of Congolese people. Leopold believed
oversea colonies were the key to a country s greatest, so he worked to obtain colonial territory for
Belgium. Neither of the Belgian people and government were interested in his plan . Soon after he was
turned down by the government and people, Leopold began to develop a colony in his private capacity
as a typical citizen. After several ineffective schemes in Africa and/or Asia, he organized a private
holding company which was called, Association Internationale Africaine . It was disguised as an
International Scientific and Philanthropic Association in 1876. Leopold hired a famous explorer
named Henry Stanley to establish a colony in the Congo region. Stanley gained control of the land
from local chiefs through doth and trinket treaties. The chiefs assumed they were signing a friendship
treaty, instead they were selling their land. Leopold was free to rule the Congo Free State as a personal
domain, and soon he was the sole ruler of about thirty million people. The Congo Free State was a
terror regime which included mass killings and maiming. The first change to the Congo was the

Essay On Immigration Policy
Immigration Policy
The two presidential candidates that I selected were Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Most people
would say that I picked them because they are the most simple to do. When in all actuality I picked
them because they are like both day and night when it comes to immigration policy. Immigration is
becoming a problem for the United States. It has been said that University of Texas researchers found
that young immigrants have a lower crime rate than American born teens call it an immigrant paradox.
For the Simple fact that there is a ten step process to get citizenship in the United States most people

They are as follows; a nation without laws is not a nation, a nation without borders is not a nation, a
nation that does not serve its own citizens is not a nation. Trump believes that there must be a wall
across the southern border. Not only does he believe there should be a wall along the southern border
but he wants Mexico to pay for the wall. Laws passed in accordance with the United States
constitutional system of government must be enforced. Any immigration plan must improve jobs,
wages, and security for all Americans. Trumps states, America will only be great as long as America
remains a nation of laws that live according to The Constitution . And to do that he plans to triple the
number of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Officials. He wants there to be a mandatory
return of all criminal aliens and he wants all American workers to be put first.
Trump wants to cut off federal grants to any city which refuses to cooperate with federal law
enforcement. Millions of people come to the United States on temporary visas but refuse to leave,
without consequence. This is a threat to national security. Individuals who refuse to leave at the time
their visa expires should be subject to criminal penalties; this will also help give local jurisdictions the
power to hold visa overstays until federal authorities arrive. Completion of a visa tracking system
required by law but blocked by lobbyists will be necessary as

Persuasive Essay On Progressivist
3A) Personally, my greatest talent or skill would have to be that of a determined progressivist towards
impossible perfectionist; simply stating, being a determined progressivist allows me to make
assurances of whether my assignments, applications, or any other important task are done towards
completion. Whatever obstacle I face on this ever changing path of life, I always refute the option to
give in and fail. Most of those who do face these types of challenges typically give in, quit, and find a
more elementary occupation to fulfill what they could have been; however, I had never faced a
challenge in which itself had made me stressed to the point of submission and of defeat. Even if the
odds are stacked against me, I do not let those odds topple over and convince me to concede. This skill
was one that I had to truly develop throughout the entirety of my life. There were countless
opportunities and influences that would have pushed towards me to recede and let others take the
chance. The reason as to why this skill is truly dear to my own being is due to the fact that the
majority of others feel content with what seems to be more simple to complete. This is what sets me
apart from everyone else who has the same aspirations likewise to myself. This skill, unfortunately,
had always suffered from negligence and had been overshadowed by more pretentious and immediate
occupations. Very few students, like myself, had given this valuable skill the light of day and had been

Should Cyberbullies Be Prosecuted For Harassing...
Should cyber bullies be prosecuted for harassing individuals online? The answer is yes, reasoning for
this is because students are unable to escape the wrath of bullies when they get home because they are
on social media now. Students used to be able to get home and have peace because the bullies were
only at in the classroom or on the playground. Furthermore, The amount of bullying on social media is
outstanding! Some targets of social media bullying have said the bullying follows them everywhere.
According to, What is Cyberbullying? 60% of targets said that their online experiences as a target of
cyberbullying affected them at school, home, and with friends, and reported experiencing feelings of

Essay On Wrongful Convictions
A wrongful conviction occurs when a person is accused of a crime and later on is found to be
innocent. Wrongful convictions lead to innocent people serving sentences for an events they were not
guilty of. Wrongful convictions happen because of false confessions, incentivized informants,
inadequate defense, misapplication of forensic science, an unfair trial, and media influence. Although
wrongful convictions primarily bring negative consequences towards the convicted, there also are
negative effects towards the prosecutor and the victims of the crime. This pressurizes for both sides to
bring forth reliable testimonies and evidence to the trial. The usage of DNA in a trial has continually
been involving. It has not been until recently that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eyewitness misidentification are the leading errors to a wrongful conviction. Although there is such a
high risk for errors, it is still the most powerful testimony or piece of evidence during a trial. With the
value an eyewitness is given, there are many risks a prosecutor takes when using them as their most
important piece of evidence. Throughout the process, starting from the crime and going until the
conviction, eyewitnesses are placed under stress and anxiety. There is also the flaw that the human
brain tends to overlook specific details. According to the California Innocence Project, details like a
stranger s height, weight, age, and hair are often overlooked . ( Eyewitness Identification Problems
and Procedures. . . ). And therefore leads to witnesses filling in the missing pieces based off of their
inference and what they feel like the suspect is supposed to look like. Through this process the brain is
trying to come up with a clear picture of the event, and does so by imaging details. Even if a witness
does observe either the weapon or the offender with detail, the other is often overlooked and leads to
little information about the event as a

Types Of Operating Conditions Of Start Ups
4.3.2 Environment
After examining the types of operating conditions of start ups, this part will talk about how
environmental factors affecting other three categories. Both start ups and incumbents have to face the
challenges in terms of environmental factors. Comparing with start ups, incumbents have more
experience and resources to deal with the uncertainty about changing environment. Under the
environmental category, there are two subcategories including market and political aspect.
Market trend. There are many factors of market would influence other three categories. First is the
market trend which implies the potential industries or markets in the future. The market trends have
great impacts on decision making process of investors. All investors are seeking for higher potential
start ups with lower failure rate. They believe that start ups which are following trends would have
lower risk and higher growth potential. Three of investors suggested:
Our investment depends on the market trend. For example, we used to pay attention on entertaining
start ups. Later on we identified the opportunities of B2B start ups, then we turn the sights towards
B2B firms. Market comes in waves, and we move according to the market trend.
The primary consideration is the potential of industry....Since more Chinese people are concerned
about their health issues, we predict that sports and health industries would have great growing
potential in the future. Also, we thought second hand

Inclusion Of The Elementary And Secondary Education Act
Include, don t exclude! Being included in sports, lunch time talks with your friends, and other
scenarios has been apart of our culture. What if Sally did not allow you to be in the same classroom
with her because of how you acted based on a mental or a behavior disability that may affect her and
the class s learning ability? I believe that inclusion in the classroom is beneficial for all students
because it adds depth and culture to your class and teach a different aspect of life than what comes
from curriculum.
Inclusion in education is when children with and without disabilities participate and learn together in
the same class. One law that provides rights to students is the Individuals with Disabilities Education
Improvement Act of 2004, which is a law guaranteeing special education services to all children with
disabilities in the United States. Then there is the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, which is a United
States Act of Congress that is a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act,
which included Title I, the government s flagship aid program for disadvantaged students, increased
the concentration of educators and parents to help each other find ways to include and to also support
students with an intellectual disability in the least restrictive environment ( No Child Left Behind ,
2015).

Social Rank Essay
There are many forms or types of rank social (gender, race, education, professional, health, age,
religion), psychological and spiritual rank. Social rank, in particular, is bestowed unequally by the
society and culture we live in, being derived from mainstream biases and prejudices. Some rank is
earned (personal development, education, expertise) and some not(racial, gender, height, certain health
characteristics).
The more rank one has, the less one is aware to its effects on others. Those with lower rank are attuned
to its sting and humiliation. Each of us can have high rank in one or more types, and less rank in
others. High social rank individuals can be undermined by their low psychological rank. The sum of

Who resists the call for change? Who defends the status quo? Doctors are among the most highly paid
professionals in our society. The current system benefits them by limiting the education and licensing
of doctors, thus creating low supply in the face of increasingly high demand. Insurance companies,
with the input of physicians, determine the rate of reimbursement for physician services. Health care
corporations continue to be good investments, despite the recession. The pejorative term socialized
medicine , first coined by a free market focus group opposing President Truman s attempt to create a
government sponsored health care system in the 1940 s, has successfully forestalled change by
frightening the public with images of inept and oppressive governmental interference in health care.
The current system, unjust, inadequate and expensive, continues to profit the few ( doctors,
pharmaceutical corporations, hospital corporations, HMO s politicians) to the detriment of all. This is
a rank issue. Who profits the most resists change the most, and uses rank to influence and obstruct.
The medical industrial congressional complex, which comprises of our gross domestic product,

Richard Plantagenet Research Paper
Starting as the CEO at Litosphere Enterprises, Richard Plantagenet somehow worked his way to the
top, in the most astonishing rise to power seen in British political history. Politicians dropped out of
the election left, right and centre, leaving Richard as virtually the only competent candidate for Prime
Minister. In the UK, millions are left astounded and confused, curious and worried about what is to
come. We all are left asking: how did Richard Plantagenet do it? From mysterious disappearances to
curious deaths, the withdrawals of other many political leaders have occurred in the lead up to Richard

workers and seemed to be true friends. So when a mysterious note was found in hasting s office, only
weeks after Richard was elected, stating his withdrawal from the party, Richard was distraught. He
worked with police and search teams to find any trace of Hastings but unfortunately, nothing was
found. Even family of Hastings have no clue to where he is. Again, people have been coming up with
theories behind this and the most believable is below. People believe that Richard used Hasting s
abilities throughout the election to further himself in the competition . Once Richard made it to the
top, it is believed that he instantly deposed of Hastings somehow, fearing that he would somehow ruin
his popularity and new power status. We can only hope that this theory is not correct and that Hastings
is somewhere unharmed. We may never know the true story behind Richard s rise to power, but from
these theories we are given a pretty bad idea of our new leader! Our only hope is that our new Prime
Minister that has risen out one of the most astonishing elections has not caused the disappearances or

Schiller´s Aesthetic Philosophy of Human Nature
Schiller takes the position that his age is lacking something, meaning that it is missing a certain
something that is essential for all human beings. In other words, the part is missing the whole .
Friedrich Schiller on the Sixth Letter of his text On the Aesthetic Education of Man in a Series of
Letters gives an example of a culture, which was not wanting. This culture, the Hellenic Greeks,
seemed to manage a perfect balance between art and wisdom, and their connection to nature, for they
realized art and wisdom were not something of their own that detached them from nature, but that they
were the road itself, which one had to take to find his way towards nature. Schiller states this
differently. For they were wedded [the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Schiller asserts that beauty is an aesthetic unity of thought and feeling, of reason and emotion. It Is by
the attainment of this unity that Schiller believes enables human nature to be realized and fulfilled.
That Beauty may lead to truth, meaning one can become the ideal through joining the logical and the
emotional. However, when truth is perceived, feeling may follow thought, or thought may follow
feeling.(189) When beauty is understood, thought is unified with feeling. He states the need for this
unity much beautifully than just a philosopher could The reality of things is the work of the things; the
appearance of things is the work of man and a nature which delights in appearance no longer takes
pleasure in what it receives, but in what it does (125). At first, the second half did not make much
sense, but upon reflection one may see that Schiller is saying we should not just revel in what the
senses take in, but use our reason to look deeper, beyond the surface. Schiller however does not
believe this is a realistic goal or even an attainable one, as we discussed in class. Schiller needs to
make some sort of distinction between the potential Man and the goal of Man, as a manifestation or
visualization of that potential or archetype. The impossibility of ever attaining the ideal calls for the
identification of potential and goal, which shows that they cancel each other out: unrealizable potential

The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing Essay
The Fifth Child by Doris Lessing
The character of Ben Lovatt in Doris Lessing s The Fifth Child is one that is very powerful, and also
extremely interesting. He is violent, and unbelievably strong, yet he would not be able to fend for
himself in the big, bad World . Doris Lessing s use of a very effective mixture of characterisation,
symbolism and language use result in a very intriguing and fascinating novel.
At the start of the novel, the reader is lulled into a sense of happiness and perfection in the lives of
Harriet and David. The description of the house that they buy gives the impression that they have lots

right, with the pregnancy, and the baby inside of Harriet. Harriet has a really hard time of things whilst
carrying Ben inside of her. She is constantly in pain, and thus resulting in her being extremely snappy
towards others. This gives the impression that things are on the decline.
The fifth child causes David and Harriet to drift further apart. It becomes so extreme that they are
sleeping in different rooms. This is a really big sign that the relationship between Harriet and David is
waning. This is a big thing because they were a very happy couple before there was any presence of
Ben, whether it was inside of Harriet or after he was born.
At night, David heard her moan, or whimper, but now he did not offer comfort, for it seems that she
did not find his arms around her any help

A New Drug Development Process
Introduction: A new drug development process starts with animal testing, before it is been tested in
humans. These animal studies are designed to ensure that the drug is effective and safe in animals.
Moreover, the results obtained should be reproducible. But even the reproducible results on animal
studies cannot provide relevant prediction of the safe and effectiveness of a new drug. Scientists often
stipulate the structural and physiological similarities between human and animals as a reason for
performing animal testing and then relating or extrapolating the results for the first in human clinical
testing, also known as Phase I clinical trials. Although, it is very clear that the human life expectancy
is much higher compared to animals, because of the way things metabolize in human body, or to the
environment a human body is exposed to or due to the minute genetic difference between human
species and some other species. Also, diseases which are imposed by genetic engineering into the
animals during animal studies differ significantly than the natural occurrence of a disease. Scientists
are aware of these flaws that come with the use of animal model testing, like drugs that may be safe
and effective in animals might not necessarily be safe and effective in humans. One such example is
Thalidomide , which was used in 1950 s as a sedative product and was used to treat morning sickness
of pregnant women. This drug was totally safe and effective in animals, but when used

Piaget s Theory Of Child Development
A Classroom Design According to Piaget ECE 332 Child Development
Carmen Anderson
June 29, 2013
When the brain is able to learn naturally we call this theory brain based learning we use our brain
everyday to acquire and take in things that we learn and children are no exception. According to Jean
Piaget s cognitive developmental theory children use their brain to think, reason, and remember. Based
upon his observations, he concluded that children were not less intelligent than adults, they simply
think differently (Cherry, n.d.). Piaget described his theory using stages that children go through as
they mentally mature. In his description of children he called them little scientists, actively trying to
make sense of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another feature that children display during this stage is animism. In other words children believe that
inanimate objects such as toys and stuffed animals have human feelings and intentions. Piaget
believed that by age seven children are no longer egocentric because they can now see more than just
their own point of view. It is important that teachers, who use Piaget s theory to teach, design a
classroom in which these theories can be focused on. In the layout below you will see a design of a
classroom that aligns with Piaget s theory and we will discuss some activities that can be used in the
classroom to help children develop in their learning. This classroom is designed to promote growth
and development so that young children can express themselves while learning about the world
around them. There will be several centers where the children will be able to explore and learn
through play both alone and in groups. The design provides quiet areas for activities such as napping
and reading and activity areas where they can take part in dramatic play and construction. It is
important that the classroom be print rich, so everything in the class will be labeled with words and
pictures this will help promote growth in language skills (Funk, n.d.). The classroom design chosen
allows easy access for students to move freely without being overcrowded. In the dramatic play area
children can play freely and use their imagination to become whoever they

The security dilemma is a fundamental concept in IR originate in John Herz s writing provided the
definition of security dilemma back in 1951 a structural notion in which the self help attempts of states
to look after their security needs tend, regardless of intention, to lead to rising insecurity to others as
each interprets its own measures as defensive and measures of others as potentially threatening (Herz,
1950: 157) which is a classic definition heavily associates with realism. In international system, where
there are no world governments or police to provide security for states as a result state exist in an

First Grade Classroom Observation
Today I went to Sunrise Elementary to observe Ms. Thune s first grade classroom. The teacher was

not go to their desks, instead they headed towards the big mat on the floor in front of the promethean

there was forty first graders together for Science class. The other class of first graders joined our class

Science they split up into groups for a project to build a tower out of candy gummies and toothpicks.
The toothpicks I thought were probably not the best idea because of safety reasons and many students
complained about their sticky fingers. When the other class joined it was noisy and Ms.Thune had a

student after the scene died down. There was also a student with disabilities who joined the class for

it worked well in their classroom atmosphere. When teaching special needs students they have a

Free Speech On The Internet
It is about time we have some filters or establish and enforce legal ramifications on the use of the
internet when hate speech is identified in all 50 states. These legal ramifications should be extended to
people in authority who use information from the internet to get to their subordinates. The internet has
radically changed the way we get and disseminate information. The internet is a place to express free
speech and just be yourself, but this has many times come back to hunt users in a negative way. This
paper will be looking at how schools, workplaces, and even other users misuse the idea of free speech
on the internet and why we need to filter hate speech and introduce legal ramifications for these
actions.
Some schools have used their authorities to discipline students and teachers over things they posted on
the internet from the privacy of their homes and on their private time. In America, students are not
supposed to lose their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate. The protection of students rights to
free speech and privacy in and out of school is essential for ensuring that schools provide both
valuable education and training in our democratic values. Unfortunately, schools continue to
demonstrate a troubling willingness to cut back on students rights. In recent years, educators have
repeatedly disciplined students for speech critical of teachers and administrators.

Descriptive Essay On Present Day
Present day
While walking through the lush green grass of the retirement home, many thoughts began to swirl in
my mind. I started thinking of the years that have flowed by me like a bullet slicing through the wind.
All the years of fun, enjoyment, sadness and grief. All the moments of desire and hope I can still feel
until this day. My experiences in life through the years have helped me to view the world today; in a
new perspective. Some part of me wishes right now that I was raised up in this era, for the people are

One afternoon a boy came running up the parchment with his black hair swaying with each step
towards the window. Upon reaching the window, he effortlessly climbed onto the windowsill and over
it. He collapsed onto the floor while the ball he was carrying bounced along the floor. My eyes
followed it until it hit my feet. I raised my gaze from the football that lay at my toes, to suddenly meet
a set of sky blue eyes. I couldn t help but let out a smile, and neither could he.
Hi, he said in a high tone, his voice cracking mid way through.
Hi, I said rapidly darting my eyes back down.
Who are you?, I asked bluntly.
He got up slowly, flinching at the pain in his shoulder; massaging it in order to make them feel better I
guess.
I saw that the window was open and just thought I had to investigate. I could see your football trophy
from the road and I thought I just had to meet you!. I love

the Civil Rights Movement, in which Motown Records released songs that protested the war calling
for peace, be it peace in Vietnam, peace on the streets, or world peace. (Page 10). An example was
Martha and the Vandellas recording of I Should Be Proud telling the story of a soldier, who was also a

website alone, how likely are you to buy this product, what was it in that website that made you want
to buy the product? Consider elements like colours, written language techniques, graphics. How did
these elements work together to sell the product to you?
One of the websites I assessed was called clever hinge . This was a product that means you do not lose
your Tupperware container lids. The website was really cleverly laid out, with a red colour scheme.
This colour scheme really helped persuade me into wanting to buy their product. Not only was the
colour scheme well thought out, the entire website was laid out in a way that was easy to navigate.
Due to this it was very easy to work out where the information on their product was stored. This
information in itself consisted of a few very well done images of their design as well as providing
basic information on the product. It was for this reason I was tempted to buy the product.

During an UN Commission meeting in 1983, Norwegian Prime Minister Brundtland came to express a
stand amongst the most thorough meanings of sustainability: helping the present without trading off
the capability of future eras to help s (WCED Report, 1987).
From that point on wards, subjects identified with sustainability multiplied and passed past the macro
level by likewise embracing mezzo and micro levels as unit of investigation. To express this all this in
detail, a macro point of view reflects a group level perspective, while a mezzo point of view embraces
organisation and focuses on organization level focus plan, and a micro viewpoint analyses an
individual s level of study and research on a certain topic. In this structure, the issue ends up being an
open deliberation of giving sustainability to the group, to the organisations ( business endeavour being
one of them) and to the people .
Analysis on Monitoring System:
Monitoring system plays a huge role in sustainability attainment. Indicators play a significant part in
monitoring frameworks and are extremely significant and could help us track the outcomes of arriving
at success levels in sustainability. Indicators for instance, ISO 14000 could help us get recognised by
individuals as an ethical firm. The ISO accreditation will help them maintain the benchmark. The

Agatha Christie Rationale
LING292 Assignment 3: Part 3 Rationale
The intended audience for my publication are fans of Agatha Christie, old and new as stated in the
subtitle of the publication. There are some posts that are aimed more towards newer fans, such as
Poirot Reading Order for fans who want to know where to start reading her Poirot stories, or to make
sure they don t read a book that spoils another book they have not yet read.
I chose an article on Agatha Christie herself, The Secrets of Agatha Christie by John Curran, as I
imagine readers would be interested in her and why she was successful. The movie review on Murder
on the Orient Express by Leigh Paatsch was a relevant choice as the film has released in theatres
recently so I looked for a mostly positive review for the publication. And I chose the novel recipe by
Kate Young as a fun and interesting post, perhaps for the bigger Christie fans who knew every detail
of her books, or just for fans who wanted to try a bit of cooking.
I edited the directions of the recipe so that it was easier to understand and follow since I imagined the
audience were probably not dedicated chefs. I divided them into much smaller steps and categorised
the steps for legibility and ease of reading on the screen. For example, Making the Ice Cream became
its own heading. Because this is a publication on the internet, I also envisaged a more international
audience and I edited the material to suit this purpose. Cling film is used in the UK, so I

Paper On Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo da Vinci one of the greatest painters of the Italian Renaissance. Most notable for his works
of the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. Leonardo da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in the city of
Vinci, Italy. He was raised by his father and stepmother till the age of 5 until his stepmother died, then
he had gone to live in his father s family estate with his grandparents and uncle. Soon later his father
remarried to a twenty year old woman, which now Leonardo da Vinci was at the age of sixteen.

even think of creating this Da Vinci first spent time studying Luca Pacioli s book called Summa de
arithmetica, which consisted of practical arithmetic, basic algebra, basic geometry, and accounting.
From this Da Vinci was able to grasp the concept of geometry and go on to create Platonic solids. In
doing so he first started by taking tables of proportions and multiplication tables form Luca Pacioli s
book. Once working on this Leonardo da Vinci collaborated with Luca Pacioli in the year 1497 about
another book Pacioli made called Divina Proportione which was about mathematics. Together Pacioli
and Da Vinci dedicated the second portion of Divina Proportione to only Platonic solids. Platonic
solids are said to be a polyhedron of whose faces are all congruent to regular polygons, and where the
same faces meet at every vertex of the polygon. This book would later go on to be published in the
year 1509 as Luca Pacioli the creator with help from Leonardo da Vinci and illustrations by Da Vinci
as well. After this incredible concept created by Leonardo da Vinci, he started to be consumed by
mathematics to the point where is notebook became filled with geometric sketches and diagrams.
Along with this Da Vinci could find the center of mass of a tetrahedron in which after finding he tried
to recreate it. Other occurrences in his notebook were ways of helping himself create the rosette
pattern for his artistic appeals. From this Leonardo da Vinci used many early compasses to aid him in
creating this pattern, but none seemed to get him where he needed too. Therefore, Da Vinci took his
skills of mathematics and created his own versions of

The Dangers Of Jackie Robinson And The Civil Rights Movement
Most people can, and have made it into the NBA, NFL, MLB, and much more. But did they really
make a linear impact through what their doing? Do these people take advantage of their position in
order to help the world? Do they help others with the advantages they have, or disadvantages they
have been given? Can t think of many? Well, there indeed is one, at the minimum. Jackie Robinson.
Jackie Robinson turned his ability to play for the Dodgers as an African American, into an
inspirational awakening to Americans everywhere and their stance of racism and the Civil Rights
Movement.
Jackie Robinson was the first black man to to enter the MLB in over 60 years. In doing so, he was
cultivated in large amounts of racism and threats he was going to, and did apprehend. In this; he had to
overcome the mind boggling hatred he was going to receive, to do not only what he loved, but what,
for America; was well overdue. Jackie Robinson was a victim of many hate crimes throughout his
career, as shown in Jackie Robinson Mini Bio (video) when it says life for Jackie Robinson was far
from easy. On the road, he was forced to stay in separate hotels, and he had agreed in his contract to
turn the other cheek when faced with racial insults and threats of physical violence (00:1:18 00:1:33).
This shows that, even with his race, yet another barrier was put up between him and his teammates,
which prevented them from learning that he too, knows his way around a diamond; for baseball at
least. This

Vascular Hyperpermeability Case Study
Vascular hyperpermeability is a causative factor in several disease states including ALI (39). Although
primarily produced in the liver, we observed that the murine pulmonary vasculature also expresses the
extracellular serine protease, HABP2 (36). Therefore, we silenced HABP2 expression in the
pulmonary vasculature and observed that it attenuated LPS and VILI induced pulmonary vascular leak
(36). Since HABP2 is upregulated in ALI, this study examined the functional consequences of HABP2
overexpression and the endogenous inhibitor(s) of HABP2 during ALI.
Reports indicate that the extracellular serine protease inhibitor, C1INH, can effectively bind HABP2
in the blood (27). We therefore examined whether C1INH can colocalize with HABP2 in ... Show

We grew HLMVEC to confluency, changed to 2% media and added either control or 100 ng/ml
C1INH one hour prior to the addition of control, 100 ng/ml purified endothelial HABP2, 1 ug/ml LPS
or 100 nM LMW HA (which we have previously demonstrated can activate HABP2 protease activity
(36)) for 15 minutes. Cells were solublized and the ratio of pSer536 p65 NF kB to total p65 NF kB
was quantitated using an ELISA kit (Abcam). Figure 2 A indicates that preincubation with C1INH
inhibited HABP2, LPS and LMW HA mediated NF kB activation. LMW HA was inhibited the least
likely due to the fact that it can also bind CD44v10 and TLR4 (41). We and others have previously
shown that HABP2, LPS and LMW HA can activate the small G protein, RhoA, in EC (36, 39, 41 44).
Using the same experimental setup at Figure 2 A, Figure 2 B indicates that preincubation with C1INH
inhibited HABP2, LPS and LMW HA mediated RhoA activation. LMW HA was inhibited the least
likely due to reasons stated above. Finally, Figure 2 C indicates that C1INH moderates EC barrier
function. Specifically, pretreatment of HPMVEC monolayers with C1INH (100 ng/ml, 1 hour)
attenuated LPS, LWM HA and purified HABP2 mediated EC barrier disruption while slightly (but
significantly) augmenting HMW HA mediated EC barrier enhancement.
We next switched our focus to an in vivo model of LPS induced ALI. Figure 3 A indicates that, in a

Racial Disparity
When it comes to the War on Drugs and racial disparity, African Americans males are more likely to
receive a higher prison sentence than their white counterparts. For example, there is disparity in
sentencing regarding powder cocaine and crack cocaine. The judicial system provides a heavier prison
sentence for crack than powder, even though it is better than previously. Crack and powder cocaine are
both illegal substances that derive from the same drug, which is cocaine. Whites and African
American drug addicts use these drugs; however, the difference is the distribution and use of the drugs
targets distinct groups of people. White drug dealers use and sell powder cocaine more frequently in
wealthier communities. Addicts abuse crack cocaine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How to Treat a Stained Tooth Fissure
Introduction
The morphological configuration of the occlusal surface of the first permanent molar is the most
vulnerable and susceptible tooth surface to dental decay and the incidence of caries on these surfaces
is still rising. There are occasions where the fissures of these teeth are stained and at the time of
deciding the appropriate treatment the question arises whether we should or we should not treat them.
When there are dentists that think that seal over a stained fissure is the right treatment choice, there is
evidence suggested by others that a stained fissure should not be treated as a sound fissure.
There are teeth with questionable or suspicious occlusal surfaces, in which we can notice that there
have been changes from the clear sound fissures even without loss of surface and it is dubious to
decide whether or not it should be treated as it could be an incipient but not cavitated fissure. A stained
fissure means a fissure that is discoloured, brown or black, even an area of white or opaque enamel
where its normal translucidency is lost but it has no evidence of surface breakdown (cavitation).
Discoloured fissures does not necessary indicate an active caries process and they may represent
sounds surfaces (where the discolouration descends from organic material trapped in the fissure) or
non cavitated caries lesions (where the demineralised enamel has been stained and possibly arrested).
It is doubtful if a discoloured fissure expresses generally a viable

Case Study Of Chief Davis Executive Style
After carefully reading the case studies, I concluded that Chief Davis executive style is in line with
The Statesman and Chief Fortier s executive style is in line with The Administrator. The Statesman
style stresses leadership and Chief Davis had a strong subordinate leadership in which he allowed their
thoughts and ideas to be put into place (Cordner, 2016). The Statesman focuses on the department s
interests by being in constant contact with the community as well as the government and gives them
tasks in order to provide leadership within the community. Chief Davis focused on building support
from outside of the agency by becoming transparent with the community and by allowing them to see
what decisions were being made. Chief Davis had strong ties to the local businesses and as a result,
they heavily supported the Lowell Police Department. A strong indicator that the LPD had the backing
of their community was that a fundraiser led by a local businessman to raise some $200,000 to buy the
department s mobile precinct (Cordner, 2016, p. 488). Chief Davis also had the strong support from
Senator Paul Tsongas, who was a resident of Lowell and worked well with the city government. By
being involved in the local government as well as the university and businesses in Lowell, Chief Davis
was extremely successful in getting community and monetary support for his department (Cordner,
2016). Chief Davis was also successful in convincing the residents in the community to build a new
precinct in the crime riddled Cambodian neighborhood. This was largely done because he had the trust
and support of the community as well as seeking the help and advice from outside of the department
in Linda Hart. Chief Davis even was able to win over one of his non supporters by hiring Cambodian
and Latino officers to help close the communication gap between the police department and the
minority communities. The Statesman can often have a negative impact on a department because the
department members feel that he or she loses touch of who they are representing, but Chief Davis
never lost the trust of his personnel and built a supporting coalition inside as well as outside of the
department. The Administrator style of leadership

Africa so poor? Take for instance, the countries Ghana and Nigeria There are many countries within

Exercise Can Reduce Stress And Improve Someone s Over All...
Exercise helps to reduce stress and improve someone s over all moods. According to Otto and Smits
(2011) exercise can be as powerful as antidepressant medications in treating depression, and, more
broadly, regular exercise is linked with decreased anxiety, stress, and hostility (p. 7). There are several
reasons how exercise reduces stress. By exercising daily we allow our bodies to adapt to different
demands and stressors, because exercise is a stressor. A good way to understand this is to think of
exercise as the preparation time before a big test, the more you study the better the result will be when
you finish that test. Therefore, the more you exercise the better prepared your body will be to handle
an added stressor such as a big project that is due for work. Another way exercise reduces stress is due
to neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that all for communication between brain cells. Exercise
reduces levels of the body s stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. It also stimulates the
production of endorphins, chemicals in the brain that are the body s natural painkillers and mood
elevators. Endorphins are responsible for the feelings of relaxation and optimism (Exercise to Relax,
2011). When an employee is less, they will be able to think clearly and focus on the tasks they need to

prejudice in greek system Essay
A major part of every college campus is the Greek system. Although, many times it goes unnoticed
there is major segregation among the fraternities and sororities in the south. Why is such an important
issue often overlooked? We need to be more aware of segregation because in many cases it causes
conflict. What if an African American wanted to join a traditionally white fraternity or sorority or vise
versa? The chances of him/her getting in are pretty slim. In fact, it would be most likely that they
would not. The walls of race and the barriers from so called ?traditions? in the Greek system should be
broken in order to diversify the organizations and lead to the changes necessary to end segregation and
discrimination for good. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A complaint of discrimination was filed last year at the University of Georgia against the Alpha
Gamma Delta sorority. One member was outraged and concerned when an African American
membership candidate ?was discussed separately from other potential members? and her sisters were
finding fault with the candidate (McCarthy). Many gave her low scores ?attributed to her race? and
made comments such as ?Why did she go through White Rush?? (and) ?If we had a black girl in our
sorority, none of the fraternities would want to do anything with us? (McCarthy). Although it was the
first time a sorority had been accused of racial discrimination, one student made the comment that ?
Alpha Gamma Delta probably aren?t the only ones who do it? (McCarthy). According to Richard
Mullendore, vice president of student affairs, few African American students choose to participate in
membership recruitment, or rush, which shepherds participants from one predominantly white sorority
to another? (McCarthy). Why then was this African American girl being punished and viewed with
conviction because her actions were different from the beliefs of so many? The member of the sorority
was even accused by her sisters ?of overreacting to an issue that just wasn?t that important!? Equality
is not important? I am positive those members of the sorority would not like it one

Prescription Drugs Are Not A Problem
Over the past twenty five years there has been a growing concern for illegal drugs, alcohol, tobacco
products, over the counter drugs, and prescription drugs. All of these legal and illegal drugs have
caused issues throughout North Carolina as well as the country, but one of the growing concerns is
prescription drug abuse. One of the counties in North Carolina that has been affected the most by this
epidemic is Robeson County. According to National Institute on Drug Abuse, prescription
medications, such as those used to treat pain, attention deficit disorders, and anxiety are being abused
at a rate second only to marijuana among illicit drug users (2015). Many people believe that
prescription drugs are not a problem because a doctor is diagnosing them with a specific health
problem. This may be the case for many of the individuals taking prescription drugs, but once the
body comes immune to the medicine it may start to carve new prescription drugs which can lead to the
abuse. The problem with prescription drugs is that many people deny they are addicted to them, but
the case is that many of these side effects from the drugs are leading to trips to the Emergency Room
(ER). In 2013, the State of the County Health Report released a publication that explained the rates of
acute poisoning by prescription drugs. According to the report released by the 2013 State of the
County Health Report, nearly forty percent of the visits of the Emergency Room visits for acute
poisonings

Ben Hur A Tale Of The Christ
Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ is centered on a man named Judah Ben Hur. Judah was a prince and
merchant in Jerusalem and was accused of a crime that he didn t commit. Hur had to go through trials
and tribulations in order to survive and fight for the ones he loved. This film was intense, historically
dramatic, and religious. The director of this film is William Wyler. Wyler centered the movie around a
Jewish man, but also on a Christians prospective. Dennis Grunes stated in his article that William
Wyler made some excellent films (These Three, Jezebel, The Letter, The Best Years of Our Lives),
but, following the estimable achievement of Friendly Persuasion (1956), which took the top prize at
Cannes largely on the strength of blacklisted Michael Wilson s ... Show more content on

The story line took the audience with them to this journey with Judah Ben Hur. The production really
delivers its message to the audience threw the life of Hur. This also brings great value to the movie as
well. Bosely Crowther even wrote that Much more could be said in praise of the technical quality of
this film, which vastly surpasses the silent version of the same story released back in 1926. Space does
not permit it. Otherwise this review would run too long, which is the one thing this picture does
distressingly. Three hours and thirty two minutes of it, not counting intermission, is simply too much
of a good thing. The stimulated soul may be willing but the tormented flesh is weak. Ben Hur: A Tale
of the Christ , is by far one of the best movies I have ever watched. I 100% recommend this movie to
everyone. Especially the 1959 version.
The Last Samurai
The second movie I selected was The Last Samurai . This movie is about a man named Nathan Algren.

Exhoration Vs. 16-18 Analysis
Introduction Holy living is one of the more difficult aspects of the Christian life, and in chapter five in
his epistle to the church in Galatia, Paul exhorts this living. This exhortation is especially seen in
verses 16 18, when Paul contrasts a life in walking in the Spirit as opposed to the flesh. The difficulty
for a Christian, Paul points out, is that there will always be a struggle between the desires of the flesh
and fruits of the spirit. He sets up this exhortation in v.16 18 with a statement in v.13, he says For you
were called to freedom....do not use your freedom for an opportunity for the flesh, but through love.
This is message that would have contrasted a false teaching of works of the flesh at that time in
Galatia, and this message would have been a correction of that teaching. Differences from Today ...

This was an attempt to keep new Christians living under the law. Martin Luther in his commentary on
Galatians rightly states that Paul gets to the heart of the matter, and establishes that love is the rule for
believers. In the present day, there is no pressure to keep a law of circumcision or any traditional law
necessarily. The time in which this letter took place, the gospel had been introduced into Galatia and
was newly accepted. This was a time in which strong doctrine had not been established or taught, and
it would have been easy for these new Christians to be influenced by false

Amy Tan s Rules Of The Game
This short story, Rules of the Game by Amy Tan, describes the protagonist, eight year old Waverly
Jong, otherwise named Meimei, learning the lesson of silence from her mother, Mrs. Jong, as the art of
invisible strength . Tan writes, the lesson was a tactic for winning arguments and attaining respect
from others . Having lived in San Francisco s Chinatown, on Waverly Place, Meimei and her two elder
brothers, Vincent and Winston took in the everyday rackets, marvels and scents of Chinatown. They
also took in the constant badgering of their mother imparting her daily truths as Chinese ways of
conduct (Vu ya chung). At a Christmas party, Waverly s brother Vincent had received the gift of a
chess set from the Baptist Church. Waverly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Waverly knew her mom would not let me play among strangers . She used reverse psychology to
control her mother, by speaking in a small quiet voice, saying she did not want to go. Mrs. Jong then
told Waverly she must play. Waverly got what she wanted without her mother realizing she had been
manipulated by her daughter. The theme of the struggle of control became much more evident as
Waverly realized how to trick her mother to regain power over Mrs. Jong and to do as she pleased.
Another example demonstrating this theme, was Mrs. Jong s inability to allow her daughter to use the
techniques Waverly chose in playing chess. After a chess tournament won by Waverly, Mrs. Jong gave
no sign of approval and said, ...Next time win more and lose less regarding the chess pieces Waverly
took from her opponent. Waverly did try to explain to her mother that part of the game was losing
pieces to get ahead ; her mother, although, did not accept that. Mrs. Jong hardly comprehended the
rules of chess, but she nevertheless wanted to prove to her daughter that she was still fully in control
and had all the power to tell Waverly how she should play the game. Regardless of all the games her
daughter had won, Mrs. Jong tried to maintain control over the simplest aspects of the chess game to
exert her authority

Snyder s 300 Hyperbole
Film is a source of entertainment for thousands of people, however it can also be seen as modern
poetry. Two examples of poetry in film is Snyder s 300 (2006) and Weir s Gallipoli (1981),
Both films have a theme of War one that glorifies it and the other denounces it. Despite the films being
different in genre and mood, both films have strong poetic devices such as hyperbole, symbolism and
repetition.
During Snyder s 300 many forms of hyperbole were used to portray the Glory of War which is the
main theme for the film. An example of hyperbole, which is noticeable throughout the entire film, is
the enhanced colouring to make the figures and scenes appear like a graphic novel. This is because the
original story line was based on Frank Millar s 300 graphic novel series. The end half of the movie
used exaggerated features more often, from the beast like features on Persia s fighters to Leonidas war
cry nearing the end of the final battle. The directors have used this poetic device to create a stronger
sense of emotion for the film.
Weir s Gallipoli had less hyperbole than Snyder s 300, however still used many of the basic aspects to
make the film a form of poetry. When hyperbole was used in the film is was usually before the main
character Archie started running where he was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A symbol constantly used throughout the film was the Spartans no mercy attitude. During the films
introduction Leonidas was being taught how to fight and how glorious it was to die for the protection

passed down to him. In the final battle Leonidas dropped his shield in order to through his spear at
Xerces in order to prove his statement of Even Gods can bleed. Throughout the entire film the no
mercy attitude of the Spartans was displayed as a sign that these warriors would be far more brutal
than any other fighting

The foot traffic can be a bit much, but it s still one of my favorite day hikes to share with others, both Arizona natives and visitors alike. And when Arizona temps reach 100 degrees, it offers an escape to Sedona s refreshing creeks and cooler weather. Like I said earlier though, there s a lot of foot traffic and a lot of unprepared folks on the trail. I remember stopping three times to give people water. Three groups who hadn t prepared for the trail adequately. That s when I realized people could use a day hike essentials checklist, big time, whether it s Sedona, Zion or somewhere in their neck ... Seasoned day hikers know the importance of sunscreen and protecting their skin from excess rays. 9. It was created in the 1880s as the private holding of European investors. The Congo was led by Leopold II, who was the king of the Belgians. The members of the Congo Free State military intentionally maimed, murdered, tortured and raped millions of Congolese people. Leopold believed oversea colonies were the key to a country s greatest, so he worked to obtain colonial territory for Belgium. Neither of the Belgian people and government were interested in his plan . Soon after he was turned down by the government and people, Leopold began to develop a colony in his private capacity as a typical citizen. After several ineffective schemes in Africa and/or Asia, he organized a private holding company which was called, Association Internationale Africaine . It was disguised as an International Scientific and Philanthropic Association in 1876. Leopold hired a famous explorer named Henry Stanley to establish a colony in the Congo region. Stanley gained control of the land from local chiefs through doth and trinket treaties. The chiefs assumed they were signing a friendship treaty, instead they were selling their land. Leopold was free to rule the Congo Free State as a personal domain, and soon he was the sole ruler of about thirty million people. Persuasive Essay On Progressivist 3A) Personally, my greatest talent or skill would have to be that of a determined progressivist towards impossible perfectionist; simply stating, being a determined progressivist allows me to make assurances of whether my assignments, applications, or any other important task are done towards completion. Whatever obstacle I face on this ever changing path of life, I always refute the option to give in and fail. Most of those who do face these types of challenges typically give in, quit, and find a more elementary occupation to fulfill what they could have been; however, I had never faced a challenge in which itself had made me stressed to the point of submission and of defeat. Even if the odds are stacked against me, I do not let those odds topple over and convince me to concede. This skill was one that I had to truly develop throughout the entirety of my life. There were countless opportunities and influences that would have pushed towards me to recede and let others take the chance. The reason as to why this skill is truly dear to my own being is due to the fact that the majority of others feel content with what seems to be more simple to complete. This is what sets me apart from everyone else who has the same aspirations likewise to myself. This skill, unfortunately, had always suffered from negligence and had been overshadowed by more pretentious and immediate occupations. In other words, the part is missing the whole . Friedrich Schiller on the Sixth Letter of his text On the Aesthetic Education of Man in a Series of Letters gives an example of a culture, which was not wanting. This culture, the Hellenic Greeks, seemed to manage a perfect balance between art and wisdom, and their connection to nature, for they realized art and wisdom were not something of their own that detached them from nature, but that they were the road itself, which one had to take to find his way towards nature. Schiller asserts that beauty is an aesthetic unity of thought and feeling, of reason and emotion. It Is by the attainment of this unity that Schiller believes enables human nature to be realized and fulfilled. That Beauty may lead to truth, meaning one can become the ideal through joining the logical and the emotional. However, when truth is perceived, feeling may follow thought, or thought may follow feeling.(189) When beauty is understood, thought is unified with feeling. He states the need for this unity much beautifully than just a philosopher could The reality of things is the work of the things; the appearance of things is the work of man and a nature which delights in appearance no longer takes pleasure in what it receives, but in what it does (125). At first, the second half did not make much sense, but upon reflection one may see that Schiller is saying we should not just revel in what the senses take in, but use our reason to look deeper, beyond the surface. Schiller however does not believe this is a realistic goal or even an attainable one, as we discussed in class. Schiller needs to make some sort of distinction between the potential Man and the goal of Man, as a manifestation or visualization of that potential or archetype. The impossibility of ever attaining the ideal calls for the identification of potential and goal, which shows that they cancel each other out: unrealizable potential is not, ... • 14. A New Drug Development Process Introduction: A new drug development process starts with animal testing, before it is been tested in humans. These animal studies are designed to ensure that the drug is effective and safe in animals. Moreover, the results obtained should be reproducible. But even the reproducible results on animal studies cannot provide relevant prediction of the safe and effectiveness of a new drug. Scientists often stipulate the structural and physiological similarities between human and animals as a reason for performing animal testing and then relating or extrapolating the results for the first in human clinical testing, also known as Phase I clinical trials. Although, it is very clear that the human life expectancy is much higher compared to animals, because of the way things metabolize in human body, or to the environment a human body is exposed to or due to the minute genetic difference between human species and some other species. Also, diseases which are imposed by genetic engineering into the animals during animal studies differ significantly than the natural occurrence of a disease. Scientists are aware of these flaws that come with the use of animal model testing, like drugs that may be safe and effective in animals might not necessarily be safe and effective in humans. One such example is Thalidomide , which was used in 1950 s as a sedative product and was used to treat morning sickness of pregnant women. It is important that teachers, who use Piaget s theory to teach, design a classroom in which these theories can be focused on. In the layout below you will see a design of a classroom that aligns with Piaget s theory and we will discuss some activities that can be used in the classroom to help children develop in their learning. This classroom is designed to promote growth and development so that young children can express themselves while learning about the world around them. I edited the directions of the recipe so that it was easier to understand and follow since I imagined the audience were probably not dedicated chefs. I divided them into much smaller steps and categorised the steps for legibility and ease of reading on the screen. For example, Making the Ice Cream became its own heading. Because this is a publication on the internet, I also envisaged a more international audience and I edited the material to suit this purpose. Cling film is used in the UK, so I ... One of the concepts Leonardo da Vinci created was Platonic solids. Before he could even think of creating this Da Vinci first spent time studying Luca Pacioli s book called Summa de arithmetica, which consisted of practical arithmetic, basic algebra, basic geometry, and accounting. From this Da Vinci was able to grasp the concept of geometry and go on to create Platonic solids. In doing so he first started by taking tables of proportions and multiplication tables form Luca Pacioli s book. Once working on this Leonardo da Vinci collaborated with Luca Pacioli in the year 1497 about another book Pacioli made called Divina Proportione which was about mathematics. Together Pacioli and Da Vinci dedicated the second portion of Divina Proportione to only Platonic solids. Platonic solids are said to be a polyhedron of whose faces are all congruent to regular polygons, and where the same faces meet at every vertex of the polygon. This book would later go on to be published in the year 1509 as Luca Pacioli the creator with help from Leonardo da Vinci and illustrations by Da Vinci as well. After this incredible concept created by Leonardo da Vinci, he started to be consumed by mathematics to the point where is notebook became filled with geometric sketches and diagrams. Along with this Da Vinci could find the center of mass of a tetrahedron in which after finding he tried to recreate it. Other occurrences in his notebook were ways of helping himself create the rosette pattern for his artistic appeals. From this Leonardo da Vinci used many early compasses to aid him in creating this pattern, but none seemed to get him where he needed too. Do they help others with the advantages they have, or disadvantages they have been given? Can t think of many? Well, there indeed is one, at the minimum. Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson turned his ability to play for the Dodgers as an African American, into an inspirational awakening to Americans everywhere and their stance of racism and the Civil Rights Movement. Jackie Robinson was the first black man to to enter the MLB in over 60 years. In doing so, he was cultivated in large amounts of racism and threats he was going to, and did apprehend. In this; he had to overcome the mind boggling hatred he was going to receive, to do not only what he loved, but what, for America; was well overdue. Jackie Robinson was a victim of many hate crimes throughout his career, as shown in Jackie Robinson Mini Bio (video) when it says life for Jackie Robinson was far from easy. On the road, he was forced to stay in separate hotels, and he had agreed in his contract to turn the other cheek when faced with racial insults and threats of physical violence (00:1:18 00:1:33). Although primarily produced in the liver, we observed that the murine pulmonary vasculature also expresses the extracellular serine protease, HABP2 (36). Therefore, we silenced HABP2 expression in the pulmonary vasculature and observed that it attenuated LPS and VILI induced pulmonary vascular leak (36). Since HABP2 is upregulated in ALI, this study examined the functional consequences of HABP2 overexpression and the endogenous inhibitor(s) of HABP2 during ALI. Reports indicate that the extracellular serine protease inhibitor, C1INH, can effectively bind HABP2 in the blood (27). We therefore examined whether C1INH can colocalize with HABP2 in ... Cells were solublized and the ratio of pSer536 p65 NF kB to total p65 NF kB was quantitated using an ELISA kit (Abcam). Figure 2 A indicates that preincubation with C1INH inhibited HABP2, LPS and LMW HA mediated NF kB activation. LMW HA was inhibited the least likely due to the fact that it can also bind CD44v10 and TLR4 (41). We and others have previously shown that HABP2, LPS and LMW HA can activate the small G protein, RhoA, in EC (36, 39, 41 44). Using the same experimental setup at Figure 2 A, Figure 2 B indicates that preincubation with C1INH inhibited HABP2, LPS and LMW HA mediated RhoA activation. LMW HA was inhibited the least likely due to reasons stated above. Finally, Figure 2 C indicates that C1INH moderates EC barrier function. Specifically, pretreatment of HPMVEC monolayers with C1INH (100 ng/ml, 1 hour) attenuated LPS, LWM HA and purified HABP2 mediated EC barrier disruption while slightly (but significantly) augmenting HMW HA mediated EC barrier enhancement. • 34. How to Treat a Stained Tooth Fissure Introduction The morphological configuration of the occlusal surface of the first permanent molar is the most vulnerable and susceptible tooth surface to dental decay and the incidence of caries on these surfaces is still rising. There are occasions where the fissures of these teeth are stained and at the time of deciding the appropriate treatment the question arises whether we should or we should not treat them. When there are dentists that think that seal over a stained fissure is the right treatment choice, there is evidence suggested by others that a stained fissure should not be treated as a sound fissure. There are teeth with questionable or suspicious occlusal surfaces, in which we can notice that there have been changes from the clear sound fissures even without loss of surface and it is dubious to decide whether or not it should be treated as it could be an incipient but not cavitated fissure. A stained fissure means a fissure that is discoloured, brown or black, even an area of white or opaque enamel where its normal translucidency is lost but it has no evidence of surface breakdown (cavitation). Discoloured fissures does not necessary indicate an active caries process and they may represent sounds surfaces (where the discolouration descends from organic material trapped in the fissure) or non cavitated caries lesions (where the demineralised enamel has been stained and possibly arrested). It is doubtful if a discoloured fissure expresses generally a viable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Case Study Of Chief Davis Executive Style After carefully reading the case studies, I concluded that Chief Davis executive style is in line with The Statesman and Chief Fortier s executive style is in line with The Administrator. The Statesman style stresses leadership and Chief Davis had a strong subordinate leadership in which he allowed their thoughts and ideas to be put into place (Cordner, 2016). The Statesman focuses on the department s interests by being in constant contact with the community as well as the government and gives them tasks in order to provide leadership within the community. Chief Davis focused on building support from outside of the agency by becoming transparent with the community and by allowing them to see what decisions were being made. Chief Davis had strong ties to the local businesses and as a result, they heavily supported the Lowell Police Department. A strong indicator that the LPD had the backing of their community was that a fundraiser led by a local businessman to raise some $200,000 to buy the department s mobile precinct (Cordner, 2016, p. 488). Chief Davis also had the strong support from Senator Paul Tsongas, who was a resident of Lowell and worked well with the city government. By being involved in the local government as well as the university and businesses in Lowell, Chief Davis was extremely successful in getting community and monetary support for his department (Cordner, 2016). Chief Davis was also successful in convincing the residents in the community to build a new precinct in the crime riddled Cambodian neighborhood. This was largely done because he had the trust and support of the community as well as seeking the help and advice from outside of the department in Linda Hart. Chief Davis even was able to win over one of his non supporters by hiring Cambodian and Latino officers to help close the communication gap between the police department and the minority communities. The Statesman can often have a negative impact on a department because the department members feel that he or she loses touch of who they are representing, but Chief Davis never lost the trust of his personnel and built a supporting coalition inside as well as outside of the department. • 39. Exercise Can Reduce Stress And Improve Someone s Over All... Exercise helps to reduce stress and improve someone s over all moods. According to Otto and Smits (2011) exercise can be as powerful as antidepressant medications in treating depression, and, more broadly, regular exercise is linked with decreased anxiety, stress, and hostility (p. 7). There are several reasons how exercise reduces stress. By exercising daily we allow our bodies to adapt to different demands and stressors, because exercise is a stressor. A good way to understand this is to think of exercise as the preparation time before a big test, the more you study the better the result will be when you finish that test. Therefore, the more you exercise the better prepared your body will be to handle an added stressor such as a big project that is due for work. Another way exercise reduces stress is due to neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that all for communication between brain cells. Exercise reduces levels of the body s stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol. It also stimulates the production of endorphins, chemicals in the brain that are the body s natural painkillers and mood elevators. Endorphins are responsible for the feelings of relaxation and optimism (Exercise to Relax, 2011). All of these legal and illegal drugs have caused issues throughout North Carolina as well as the country, but one of the growing concerns is prescription drug abuse. One of the counties in North Carolina that has been affected the most by this epidemic is Robeson County. According to National Institute on Drug Abuse, prescription medications, such as those used to treat pain, attention deficit disorders, and anxiety are being abused at a rate second only to marijuana among illicit drug users (2015). Many people believe that prescription drugs are not a problem because a doctor is diagnosing them with a specific health problem. This may be the case for many of the individuals taking prescription drugs, but once the body comes immune to the medicine it may start to carve new prescription drugs which can lead to the abuse. The difficulty for a Christian, Paul points out, is that there will always be a struggle between the desires of the flesh and fruits of the spirit.
