Analysis Of Quote By Gregory Crewdson
Gregory Crewdson s work is very inspiring, he manages to complete an entire story, an entire
character art, all in one image and you really get involved in his world. Using light and colour places a
major cinematic role, the picture becomes an operatic framing device, there so rich with props and all
the other little details that when you look closer you will find something different.
Crewdson works with a medium format camera, eight by ten colour negatives, each print is fifty nine
inches by ninety inches, when you look closely at his image you see clarity and detail. Crewsdon used
Epson printing process in his studio, to maintain control over his entire process, which allowed him to
make his pictures feel like his own, like they were part of his world. Quote by Gregory Crewdson
My pictures are about a search for a moment a perfect moment. To me, the most powerful moment in
the whole process is when everything comes together and there is that beautiful still moment, and for
that instant my life makes sense.
Birth was made on a sound stage, working with a large art department, Crewdson and his art director
start by making sketches, then architectural drawings, they then build the set which normally takes
about five to six weeks. In this specific photograph it looks like the woman has given birth, and from
outside of the house the bedroom and the bathroom are visible from outside, which to me makes it an
eerie concept as if life isn t private and shows real

Character Analysis Of Paper Towns By John Green
In the novel Paper Towns by John Green, Quentin (also called Q) is an average teenager with a not so
average neighbor, Margo Roth Spiegelman. Since Margo moved to the neighborhood and discovered a
dead body while with Q, she has been different. She tried to piece together the puzzle as a kid, later
becoming a puzzle herself when she goes missing after a night out with Q. Margo is known for
leaving clues behind on her many adventures that she s gone on, and she usually returns even though
no one ever solves the mystery, but this times it s different and it doesn t look like she s coming back
this time. The clue s are pointed at Quentin, and why she chooses him is unclear, but all Q knows is
that the love of his life has just run away and she wants Q to find her. On his journey, he encounters
hardships that are important to the work as a hole because without them Quentin would not be able to
do what has never been done before, and that is to find Margo. With the help of his best mates Radar
and Ben plus the assistance of Margo s friend Lacey, the race to find Quentin s love is thrown into full
gear. The whole end game of this book is to do the impossible, find Margo. In doing the impossible,
there is a very high chance that you will run into some obstacles. Margo s parents are one of those
obstacles. You would think because they are her parents that the Spiegelman s would be full of
concern but also full of hope to find their eldest daughter. To put it simply, no and no.

Major General Burnside s Defeat
Essential Elements/Causes of Defeat Major General Burnside s failure at the Battle of Fredericksburg
could initially be attributed to the army not receiving the pontoon bridges in time to cross the river and
sustain the army s momentum. However, MG Burnside s bigger issue can be linked back to his lack of
mission planning. The issue of not receiving the pontoon bridges relates directly to the lack of
Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB). During IPB, the battlefield environment is defined,
battlefield effects are described, the threat is evaluated, and threat courses of action are determined
(Headquarters, Department of the Army, 1994). If MG Burnside had taken the time to conduct proper
terrain analysis of the Rappahannock River ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the pontoon bridges needed by the Union Army had arrived on time maybe that would have altered
the course of the battle. General Lee would not have had the time to dig in on the high ground
surround Fredericksburg. The battle would have played out differently in that scenario. Or, If General
Lee had seen the number of Union Troops around Falmouth maybe he would have decided that
Fredericksburg was indefensible, using only delaying tactics against the Union forces, while
continuing with his plan of stopping the Union Army further south along the more defensible North
Anna River, but closer to Richmond. The other option from MG Hooker was to have crossed the
Rappahannock River upstream or further downstream. The upstream option would have been better
courses of action for that time of year, but a longer trip to Richmond. In my opinion upon the arrival
of the Union forces in Falmouth and no pontoon bridges available, MG Burnside should have been
open to the idea MG Edwin Sumner of continuing to cross the Rappahannock River still in pursuit of
the enemy. MG Sumner s men would have been a good source of intelligence after they secured the
high ground around Fredericksburg and waited for the remaining forces to ford the river and then
regroup and then continue moving south towards Richmond. This would have meant that

Death Is The Middle Child Of Parents Edward And Emily...
Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She was the middle
child of parents Edward and Emily Norcross Dickinson. Young Emily Dickinson s early childhood
consisted of attending school, reading books, taking part in church activities, and learning to sing and
play the piano. Her formal schooling was phenomenal for girls in the early 19th century, though not
unusual for girls in Amherst. After spending some time in Amherst district school, she attended
Amherst Academy for about 7 years before entering Mount Holyoke Female Seminary (now Mount
Holyoke College) in 1847. Dickinson s early years were not without distress. Deaths of friends and
relatives, including her young cousin Sophia Holland, prompted questions about death and
immortality. Death happens to be a recurring theme in Dickinson s poetry. Although this is the case,
no two poems have exactly the same understanding of death, however. Death is sometimes
frightening, lenient and gentle, or simply inevitable. The intent of this paper is to analyze the
persistent theme of death in Dickinson s poetry and how it is portrayed in some of her most well
known pieces. These select few poems will include I like a look of Agony , I heard a Fly buzz when I
died and Because I could not stop for Death. As Dickinson got older, her personal life went through a
tremendous change. She came into her own as an artist during a short but intense period that scholars
estimate ranged from 1858 1865. These

Essay about The Pianist
The Pianist
Thunder roars all around. Black clouds veil a dying sun. Yet, the storm is not falling from above but
raging from below. The thunder is the cracking of gunfire and the clouds, smoke rising from the
rubble of what once was. With the roar of a lion, planes, looking like angels in the heavens, drop death
upon a city. The buildings that were homes are now corpses, stripped of their flesh and left gaping.
With the earth erupting in hatred, Wladyslaw Szpilman sits upright and continues to play Chopin s
Nocturne in C sharp minor. The bombs rain unrelentingly. Everyone runs, except for Szpilman, who is
still behind the ivory keys, until a bomb falls upon his office and rips a hole through the walls. Now

Between him and his life, there stood a German soldier. Courageously, the boy approached the soldier
and asked if he could go home to fetch a loaf of bread. The soldier looked down upon this child and
nodded. The only thing this soldier told Roman Polanski was Don t run. ( Story of Survival )
Sixty years later, Roman Polanski was finally able to recreate those terrible memories that haunted
him and show the world an un softened portrayal of what happened back then. He found it too difficult
to tell his own story; the memories cut too deeply into his heart for him to relive them exactly. For
years [Polanski] searched for someone else s [story] to adapt (Thomas). A decade earlier he was
offered the position to direct Schindler s List, but turned down the offer to direct it because it was set
in Krakow (Thomas).
There is quite a difference between this movie and previous movies about World War II. For one, the
movie is very quiet. For a large portion of the movie, Szpilman is alone in the world. On occasion
someone drops by to deliver food but for the most part dialogue is nonexistent. The larger difference
between this and others is Szpilman is not a hero nor does he exhibit characteristics of heroism. He is
not a soldier fighting for his country; he is not a rebel who joins the Resistance and fights from the
inside, he is not a business man who gives up all he has to save the lives of as many people as he can.
Szpilman is a pianist and to that his

The Process Of A Student
Student interns either schedule a follow up appointment with the patient or they are done and walk
them out. The student goes to their office and puts a progress note of wat happened in E record. The
intern will then fax all the appropriate referrals for the patient on to the agencies that will be providing
the services. The next stage in the logic model is outputs. In case management this would be the
patients receiving the services we helped them sign up for. To make sure that this happens the interns
have to call places that they have faxed the patient s information to, to see if and when they will be
accepted into that program. If they will not be accepted the student needs to bring the patient back in
and find a different solution for the patient. Sometimes for the patient to receive the services the
student has to go out into the field. In Rochester, they have now set new restrictions on when and
where you can go to food pantries. There are some places that only case managers can go. The student
could go and get food for their patients, if their patients and the students could not find a local pantry
to help the patient. Outcomes for the logic model are broken up into three part short term,
intermediate, and long term. The short term outcomes are because of case management patients will
learn what services are available to them in the community and be able to take advantage of them.
Patients will also feel better because they now know where to look for services,

The Bodhisattva s Body
The elaborateness of the bodhisattva remains in the figure as whole and in its separate parts,
specifically the headdress and its sword halo, the cloth, and the lotus flower seat. As a whole, the
bodhisattva is made up of multiple parts: the sword halo, the headdress, the bodhisattva s body and
arms, the lotus flower seat, and the earth base. The sword halo appears to be slightly detached from
the bodhisattva s body, mostly connected to the lotus flower seat. The halo gives the body more depth
because it provides a background. This means that the bodhisattva is not in need of having a highly
decorated backdrop behind it, especially because the halo creates an interesting shadow. The shadow
is defined by the holes within the halo and the swords ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sheer amount of weapons the bodhisattva, including the ax, trident, and spear, strikes fear in those
who disobey. This image instills a sense of reverence because of the danger that could come from
being bad in nature. It also promotes the desire to worship and become a devout Buddhist because of
the consequences that one could face on other paths of life. If on Buddhist path, one has this
bodhisattva to protect and guide them. It elevates the value of Buddhism and its teachings; the viewer
will see Buddhism as the way of life that will help them reach Heaven and achieve an afterlife that
other religions cannot achieve. To go along with the weapons, there are eight arms in total, all doing
different things: between holding objects and signing mudras. It is overwhelming to see eight arms
because of how otherworldly it is; furthermore, the arms all have their own function. This being has
the capability to control more than two arms, without any difficulty. The admiration for the power and
strength of the bodhisattva develops as the viewer takes in the the arms and weaponry. It would be
necessary to take multiple visits to see the bodhisattva to begin to process everything the arms are
doing and what their positions are. While this is outrightly stunning, the finer details remain to be
found by the viewer, an example being the patterned

The Settlement and Innovations of Ancient Rome Essay
The Settlement and Innovations of Ancient Rome
Rome is an ancient city located on the western coast of Italy by the
Meditterranian Sea.(3:289)
The city of Rome was founded, according to the legend, by Romulus in 753
BC. Remus and Romulus were two mythological sons of Mars, the god of war.
Through military expansion and colonizations, and by granting citizenship to conquered tribes, the
city joined all of Italy south of the Po in the
100 year period before 268 BC. First, the Latin and other tribes were joined, then the Etruscans (a
civili zed people north of Rome) and the
Greek colonies in the south. With a large army and several hundred thousand in reserve, Rome
defeated Carthage in the 3 Punic Wars, 264 241, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Provincials
(nearly all granted citizenship by Caracalla,212 AD) came to dominate the army and cival service.
Traditional Roman law, systmatized and interpreted by independant jurists, and local self rule in
provincial cities were su pplanted by a vast tax collecting bureaucracyin the 3d and 4th centuries.
The legal rights of women, children, and slaves were strenghtened. (1:721)
Roman innovations in civil engineering included water mills, windmills, and rotary mills and the use
of cement that hardened under water.
Monumental architechture (baths, theaters, apartment houses) relied on the arch and dome. The
network of roads (some still standing) stretched 53,000 miles, passing through moutain tunnels as long
as 3.5 miles. Co nceived in
312 BC, the 360 mile Appian Way was a superhighway that the Romans traveled from Rome to
Caupa, in Campania...The road took about 10 to 15 days to travel...It was considered the Queen of
roads by the Romans, but it is a
l il ole road by moder n standards. Aqueducts brought water to cities, underground sewers removed
waste. Some of the sewers were so well built, they are still in use today.(2:715)
Roman art and literature were derivative of Greek models. Innovations were made in sculpture
(naturalistic busts and equestrian statues), decorative wall painting (as at Pompeii), satire (Juvenal, 60
127), history
(Tacitus, 56 120), prose romance (Petronius, d. 66 AD). Violense and

Show students three different maps of California (See Appendix 1, 2, and 3). Ask students what they
see, what do the maps show and what details do they notice? Students should point out the obvious
such as cities, highways, the Pacific Ocean, compass, other states surrounding California, different
colors on different maps. Tell students that map number two shows the valley in the centered colored
green, and the surrounding mountains are colored brown, as I tell them this I will point to the sections

Students do not need to answer question but just bring up the question to get them engaged and
thinking where would life be better depending on the region.
YouTube Video of California s Regions and Introducing compelling question and supporting questions
Introduce Compelling question What are the main characteristics of the four geographical regions of
California? Introduce the question to students to get them thinking and engaged so they can pay
attention when watching the video.
Since some students might have prior knowledge in regards to the four regions while others might
have no knowledge, I decided to start off my unit with a video about California Regions which is a
song about the regions. After students view the video students will fill out a four square chart.

Cor Leo Research Paper
Leo is one of the earliest recognized and simplest constellations in the sky to find (Zimmermann
2017). From the northern hemisphere it can be seen between the months of January and June and is
located by finding the bottom two stars of the Big Dipper s cup and moving straight out from them
until you see the sickle shape (Christoforou 2017). In western culture, the constellation is said to have
been discovered by the Sumerians and Egyptians. Around 10,500 BC, the Egyptian Sphinx would
have faced Leo as it rose in the sky. That date was approximately around the time known as the Age of
Leo. The constellation was defined by one of the four royal stars that Persian astronomers linked to
the solstices and equinoxes. Originally called Cor Leonis, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of those is Negral, the solar God of War and Pestilence. He was said to be a phase of Shamash
that represented the midday and mid summer sun. This was considered the deadliest phase of the Sun
God (Ancient Astronomy 2017). Because of their fierceness, they were often depicted by lions.
Sometimes they were even depicted as having the body of a human and the head of a lion. Another
possible representation is that of Inanna. She is the Lioness of Heaven. Although she is represented by
a constellation below the shoulder of Leo, there is a strong connection between her and the lion as it
was said that she had a sacred lion that she would take with her into battle. This could be because lions
represented the sun and the sun was most prominent summer which also happened to be the time when
most wars for foreign lands took place. A third possibility is that of the lore behind Humbaba. He was
a monstrous, fire breathing lion who served as the guardian that watched over the forest of the Gods.
He was raised by Shamash. Some of Shamash s traits would have been passed down to Humbaba
which would have made him a perfect choice as the protector of the sacred forest of the Gods (Ancient

Policy Of Appeasement
There were many causes that led to the outbreak of the war. Many blame the Treaty of Versailles,
others the League of Nations, and others blame the Policy of Appeasement. The Treaty of Versailles
put restrictions on Germany, blamed the cause of WW1 on it, and also made Germany pay for war
reparations. The League of Nations was made to keep world peace by preventing wars and such by
solving any disputes in a peaceful manner. The Policy of Appeasement was a policy between Hitler
and Chamberlain which gave a piece of Czechoslovakia to Germany in order to keep Hitler from
starting a war with them and to keep peace. Although all of these reasons play a major role in the
cause of World War 2 I believe the main cause was the League of Nations.

Things Fall Apart Thin Line
Within William Yeats poem, the meaning of the phrase Things Fall Apart refers to how the thin line
between the undefinable parts of life and a distant reality exists when all begins to become blurred
together; no one sees the difference anymore. Life, as it comes about as undefinable, the events that
occur in one s existence should not all be meaningless . Events such as birth, growing, learning, loving
and hating divided by the distant reality in the manner of events yearned for in one s heart, or dreamed
of in someone s sleep or subconscious mind. Once this line becomes blurred, it gets be transformed
into something entirely different pertaining to one s belief, in any fashion, becomes the only reasoning
in response to terrible occurrences in one s world or life. Yeats portrays this theme, with himself, in his
poem The Second Coming. One major theme presented in the poem comes about when one gets an
interpretation of Yeat s true message. Although ,Yeats experiences how the thin line between the
undefinable parts of life and a distant reality exists when all begins to become blurred together; no one

Bose Corporation Is A Massachusetts Based Global Supplier...
Bose Corporation is a Massachusetts based global supplier of consumer electronics. Founded in 1964
by MIT professor Dr. Amar Bose, the company s strategy has been to combine technology with
creative people to develop products that offer high performance and are simple to use, yet
sophisticated (Moody, 1991). Bose prides itself on its creativity and innovation in producing quality
audio components, like stereos, noise canceling headsets and premier automobile stereo systems. Bose
is also known for pioneering the concept of Just In Time II (JIT II), a customer supplier partnership
concept that is now practiced by other major companies and their suppliers. This case study analyzes
some of the major components of Bose s supply management strategy and processes, including the
implementation of JIT II.
Performance Measurement System
According to the Purchasing and Supply Chain Management textbook, Supplier performance
measurement includes the requisite methods and systems to collect and provide information to
measure, rate, or rank supplier performance on an ongoing basis (324). Bose has developed a detailed
supplier performance system that measures on time delivery, quality performance, technical
improvements, and supplier suggestions (Schulz, 2016). Twice a month, Bose generates a report
providing feedback to suppliers about their performance. If necessary, Bose uses these measurements
to establish goals for improvement for that supplier to attain. It would be beneficial for

The Significant Impact of the Transcontinental Railroad on...
The Transcontinental Railroad was one of the most ambitious engineering projects, economic
stimulants, and efficient methods of transportation in the early United States. If completed, the United
States would be truly be united from east to west. The purpose of this paper is to examine how the
Transcontinental Railroad helped develop new opportunities for many aspects of American life.
The Transcontinental Railroad was the largest project the United States had ever seen. Due to lack of
technology, the enormous size of the project, and the environmental conditions, the railroad seemed to
be an impossible task. This construction project posed a huge challenge to those working on it. The
railroad s route would span nearly seven hundred ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of materials was also immense. Rails, railroad ties, lumber, and provisions needed to be
hauled over five hundred miles to get to where it needed to be. The route had no natural provisions, so
food and water needed to be hauled from 150 miles away to get to construction crews. In order to
understand what it means to build this railroad, one must understand all the obstacles railroad
companies and workers had to overcome. In Walt Winter s The First Transcontinental Railroad, Enid
Johnson says,
...In 1869, after a long, bitter and often terrifying struggle against Indian attacks, brutal weather,
floods, labor shortages, political chicanery, lawlessness and a war, the first transcontinental railroad

Discourse Markers
The Use of Discourse Markers
So um, I mean yeah I was wondering if like, you had any job openings for this summer? This was the
way a potential employee approached my dad, asking if he had a position for them to work this
summer. Filler words such as um and like are used very commonly throughout conversations between
individuals in this day and age, many individuals not even realizing they are using them. But why do
we use discourse markers? And do they make people seem unprofessional or uneducated to potential
employers? One view of the use of discourse markers comes from Jean E. Fox Tree, a cognitive
psychologist who works at The University of California Santa Cruz. Her works specialize in the use of
discourse markers and enquoting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The women also typically thought they used less filler words than the men. This was surprising, as it
was not expected that there would be a difference in how many filler words they thought they used.
While this data may not be representative for men and women of all ages, it does give a good idea of
how college students differ using discourse markers.
In the second part of my experiment, the participants were told the experiment was actually about the
use of filler words, and then they were asked to answer the question Can you describe the moment you
said goodbye to your parents before they left you at college? . When the participants concentrated on
not using discourse makers, the number of times they used them went down drastically. Two out of the
three women and all three men told the whole story without using a single filler word or discourse
marker. But while they were not using these words, there were awkward silences in which the
participant would think about what to say next. This was very interesting, as it may explain another
reason why we use discourse markers and filler words. We want to avoid these awkward silences in
which neither person is saying anything, so we use these words and phrases to cease the

Device That Can Be Thought As A Gun
device that can be thought as a gun. The second screen has a surface that can record or detect any
wave or particle that manages to pass through the slits and strike the screen. As will be seen, sometime
the researcher will open just one slit and other times both slits. The experiment is conducted in stages
in order to contrast waves from particles.
In the first stage a series of bullets (particles) will be fired toward the barrier with one slit open. As
expected a vertical pattern of bullet holes will appear behind slit 1. After opening the second slit and
firing another volley, a second vertical pattern will appear right next to the first one. In other words the
bullets behave just like particles in accordance with classical physics as would be expected.
In stage two a monochromatic light (light with just one wavelength) will be emitted toward the screen.
This is in contrast to the light from a normal light bulb that is composed of many differing
wavelengths (making it difficult to observe the interference pattern). The second screen is coated with
a chemical that illuminates when impacted by light. When the monochromatic light is emitted with
only one slit open, a pattern of brightness appears just behind the slit. But with both slits open an
interference pattern is observed consisting of bright bands where constructive interference occurred
and dark bands where destructive interference occurred. Again, this is just what is expected.

Types of spatial metadata
Spatial information is necessary to make sound decisions at the local, regional and global levels.
Therefore, the amount of spatial datasets being created and exchanged between organisations or

B.A. Robinson with the group Ontario Consultants of Religious Tolerance
(http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_deat.htm), tells us that Roman Catholics believe there is
Heaven and that, Those few people whose love for God has been perfected in this life have their
bodies glorified and taken immediately to their eternal reward in Heaven. Perhaps the Virgin Mary, the
Apostles, the saints and some others will qualify for this path. Hell is reserved for those who have
committed a mortal sin which has not been forgiven, or have rejected God, then they are taken
immediately to Hell where they will be tortured forever without any hope of relief or mercy. And
finally, there is Purgatory. This is where a person goes If the person dies in a state of grace, but loves
God imperfectly, then their souls immediately enter Purgatory. Here, they suffer for a time in order to
cleanse themselves of their accumulated imperfections, venial sins and faults. Any mortal sins that
they have committed, and for which they have been forgiven in the Sacrament of Penance, may have
some residual temporal punishment still remaining; this has to be discharged as well. (2010)

Disadvantages Of Engineering Materials
Introduction Engineering materials is classified into families based on their material structure,
compositions, properties etc, as shown in the figure: Metals Ferrous metals: These are the metals and
the alloys that are composed of high amounts of the iron content. These are the strongest materials that
are available and can be used in the applications where strength of the material is compulsorily high
and at a low cost and also where the weight is not a primary importance. Ferrous metals are used in
various applications such as: building of bridges, structures of huge buildings, rolling stock, the bodies
and highly stressed engine parts of vehicles running on the road, railway lines and locomotives. The
ferrous metals alone can also be divided into Groups , and these are as follows. Non ferrous metals:
These materials refer to the remaining metals known in the world. As they lack of mechanical strength
these clean metals can hardly be used as structural materials. They are used where their superior
properties such as electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance are essential.
Aluminum and Copper are used as electrical conductors and, composed with sheet zinc and sheet lead,
are used as roofing materials. They are primarily used with other metals to improve the material
strength. Some extensively used non ferrous metals and alloys that are available are shown in figure.

The Philosophy Of Progressive Education
Progressive Education
Progressive Education refers to a pedagogical movement that started as a means to reform traditional
teaching methods. The approach in Progressive Education is a method of teaching that recognises the
value of self expression, flexible and informal classroom atmosphere and proper attention for every
student. It lays emphasis on learning through experience rather than memorising facts without having
clear understanding of certain concepts and literature. Progressive Education is a result of the
progressive thought of various 19th century educators who decided that there had to be a better way of
imparting knowledge and educating children. Some influential progressive educators were John
Dewey and William H. Kirkpatrick.
The primary philosophy behind Progressive Education is to build a system of education where a test

Usually, such type of teaching is characterised by a rigid classroom atmosphere wherein the teacher
stands in the front of the classroom and teaches by delivering lectures. There is minimal scope for
experiential learning and teacher student interaction. However, progressive education allows students
the flexibility and opportunity to question things, concepts and supports a method of leaning where
students are allowed to explore their capacities. It teaches them how to think about certain things and
question them, and not about what to think and passively accept as facts of life. This type of teaching
acknowledges the need for greater interest and depth of understanding. Mistakes are considered
opportunities to learn and evolve. Progressive Education rejects Normative standards of teaching and

The Color Purple vs. The Joy Luck Club Essay example
The Color Purple is a biased, unbalanced view into the life of black women during the early to mid
nineteen hundreds. While it is obvious that a woman who in her own right is racist, chauvinist, and
ignorant to the way that the world really works wrote the novel, it has been requested that the class
write a paper on the story. Whilst this writer does not agree with this novel or anything that Alice
Walker thinks or feels, obligingly this paper is been written. The Color Purple and the Joy Luck Club
had many similarities, the most notably the presence of weak, ill bred, and quite frankly embarrassing
male characters.
The most obvious example of one of these unfortunate male characters is of course Albert from ...

It is clear from the tone of the discussion that the idea hurts Lena inside, especially since she makes

money grubbing bastard.
Rich is the second example of a weak male character in The Joy Luck Club, and his main flaw is gross

Bayeux Tapestry Experience Rachel Louderback HUM111 Professor Lafferty May 27, 2012 It was an
honor to fight for Duke William s right to be crowned King in the battle of Hastings on the 14th of
October 1066. The battle of Hastings was one of the most memorable and successful battles that I
have ever participated in as a Norman soldier. The Duke of Normandy, William, prepared for the
battle against the King of England, Harold, months in advance. It all started after the death of King
Edward, the Confessor died the 5th of January 1066 without an official heir to the throne (BBC,

Us soldiers were never given the length in time we were going to be at this camp. Our time here was
spent building parts of wooden castles that we were to take with us to the battle field. The smell of
freshly cut wood once again made me and the other soldiers anxious to go into battle. While building
and preparing ourselves for battle, some of us soldiers spoke of the land that Duke William had
promised us when we conquered England. At one point it felt like I was never going to receive that
land as for the days kept going by and no news of moving out had been spoken of. As the days went
on, I noticed they started to become cooler. Finally late September, Duke Williams received the news
that Harald Hardrada and Tostig launched their invasion of Northumbria. Our day to invasion of the
south was coming fast. It was just a few days after Duke Williams received the great news that our
fleet of ships set sail. We all worked hard to load the ships with weapons, armor, pre built wooden
castles, food and drinks. The smell of the sea air never smelt any better than it did on that day. Battle
was coming near and the promised land was just out of reach for me and the other soldiers. The sun
was just about rising when our fleet landed in southern England near Hastings and it never looked
anymore beautiful then it did on that day. William at once started commanding orders to us soldiers.

Ww1 Propaganda Essay
While deception tactics began to rise during World War I, these tactics became more sophisticated and
more crucial during the Second World War. Both sides, the Axis, and the Allies had offices dedicated
explicitly to deception and propaganda, giving a more official and efficient style to the deception
campaigns that would emanate.
The first example of Rankin in Curtain Up when in 1929, Germany put on a false raid to obtain a
justifiable rationale to invade Poland. SS Sturmbannfuhrer (Major) Alfred Helmut Naujocks and his

White s propaganda had kernels of truth which allowed the story to spread easier including field tests
of burning oil on water, flamethrowers, and burned Germans (Rankin, 2009). This propaganda was so
successful in terrifying German soldiers that it helped convince leaders to change their plans of attack
from a naval invasion to an air campaign. This propaganda form of MISO is an example of Grey
propaganda where the source may or may not be correctly identified, and the accuracy of the
information is uncertain, (Guth, 2008). Grey propaganda used by the British falsely propagated their
ability to set fire to the Channel, using the stories that soldiers passed along to each other as well as
mocking pamphlets and radio broadcasts as a medium (Rankin, 2009). This method worked because
the British used framing against the enemy soldiers. Mislead into thinking the most dangerous path
would be across the English Channel by presenting a lot of evidence that the British had the
capabilities to annihilate them before reaching the coast. Propaganda allows for the principle of
framing because the constant bombardment of information will enable people to draw conclusions
based on their experiences. The British can set fire to the Channel and burn any ships or boats sent

The World s Largest Population
From the 3.68 billion people that will be added to the world population between 1995 and 2050, Asia
will contribute some 2 billion. This enormous increase is due to the already massive size of the
population. Most of this growth will occur in the next three decades. Between 1995 and 2025 Asia s
population will grow by 1.35 billion between 2025 and 2050 the increase is projected to be just 658
million. China is the world s largest population, estimated to be around 1.24 billion in 1998. It grows
at a rate of 1.3% per year or 44,100 people a day. There are now more people living in China than
whole world 150 years ago. The population broke the billion mark in the 1982 census, the results of
which provided the justification for the strict one child policy which effectively curbed rapid
population growth. In the 1990 census, China counted 1.133 billion people, over the next decades the
world population will inevitably age. This is an unavoidable consequence of large birth cohorts during
the 1950s and 1960s and the rapid fertility decline since the 1970s. In 2025 the baby boomers of the
1950s and 60s will be between 65 and 75 years of age. These large aging cohorts are followed by the
relatively small baby bust generations of the worldwide fertility decline. In 1950 there were only 131
million people of age 65 and older; in 1995 their number had almost tripled and was estimated at 371
million. Between now and 2025 the number will more than double again; and by 2050 we

Comprehensive Immigration Reform And The United States
Comprehensive immigration reform has been a pressing issue in the United States (U.S.) for decades.
Immigration reform was one of the major platforms the President used to campaign and draw an
unprecedented amount of Latino support. Six years after those promises were made, Congress and the
President continue to disagree about the methodology and necessary framework for such reform. Each
has proposed different approaches to solving immigration. Conservatives have pushed for stricter
enforcement of current immigration laws as well increased deportations without exceptions. The
President and his fellow Democrats have aimed for an immigration theory that can appeal to
humanitarian and economic perspectives.

To fully understand why immigration reform is such a highly contested measure, it bears analyzing
current laws and previous reform attempts. Part of the reason why immigration reform has been so
difficult to achieve is due to the vast number of current laws and regulations. Currently the U.S. has
many different classifications for incoming immigrants and varying quotas. Incoming documented
immigrants are classified in four ways: family based immigration, economic immigration, refugees
and asylum seekers, and diversity immigrants. There is an annual limit of 675,000 permanent
immigrants worldwide, with Congress and the President setting limits for refugee seekers
(Immigration Policy Center). Family sponsored visas are limited to 226,000 visas per year. Family
immigration allows citizens and permanent residents to sponsor family members, spouses, unmarried
minor children and parents, for visas, under qualifying conditions. There is also preference given to
the adult children and siblings of citizens and the spouses and unmarried children of permanent
residents (Immigration Policy Center). In the search for workers, the U.S. allows workers to
immigrate for a temporary or permanent basis. Workers are divided into categories and the majority
are for highly skilled workers, who are sponsored by an employer.

Comparing Shakespeare And Twelfth Night
Twelfth Knight is one of the most popular plays of Shakespeare. Twelfth Night 1996 by Trevor Nunn
is a good imitation of Shakespeare s play. The movie follows the same structure and pattern of the

problem that may leads to death which is the shipwreck and the dividing of twins. Each one of the
twins believe that the other one is dead. The use of sounds and imageries in the movie portrays the
scene of the shipwreck in a very dramatic way, especially when the characters fall out of the ship and
attempt to survive. The sound, imagery and the attitude of the characters represent the tragedy
incident. The second rule is the geographical relocation

Cost Of Billboard
What Are the Added Costs of Renting a Billboard?
Other than renting a billboard, there are other costs that must be accounted for. On average, companies
will spend $500 to $1,000 to pay someone to design the billboard. Buying the vinyl material for a
bulletin billboard will cost about $500 for 700 square feet of vinyl. To lower costs, businesses can
always choose to hire a freelancer online to complete the design.
How Do I Rent the Billboard That I Want?
If the business has already found the right spot for their advertisement, the next step is actually renting
the billboard. Normally, the advertiser s name will be listed below or next to the billboard image.
Once this name is found, businesses can look up the advertising company online ... Show more

They allow running text and easy changes between different advertisements. Often, companies can
rent them for a portion of the time each day or during specific time periods like rush hour.
Painted Billboards: While these were once the most popular option, painted billboards have been
increasingly replaced by graphically produced designs.
Scented Billboard: Believe it or not, companies like Bloom have used scented billboards so that
people smell scents like charcoal when they pass by the billboard.
Mobile Billboards: A mobile billboard is often placed on a car or temporarily added to large events.
While they are less common, mobile billboards are often more memorable for consumers.
No matter what a business is looking for, there are many different types of billboards and price ranges
that are available. From national chains to local advertisers, businesses can find the exact advertising
products that they need. Once the business has found the right location, the billboard can help to boost
their brand and increase the buzz surrounding the

Persuasive Essay On Fashion
Do you want to make a unique fashion statement on your special occasion? Are you attending your
prom, a wedding or a cocktail party? Then, vintage dresses are the way to go! While others are stuck
in the routine combination of dresses for their prom or special occasions, vintage dresses are original
choices you can go for, to stand out and rock the place.
The old is fashionable! The vintage look does not stop being in style, and when you add some 50s
dresses to your wardrobe or solely for the occasion, you display a unique taste that always stands out,
no matter the occasion. By the way, this should not be confused with the use of second hand clothing.
While the word vintage refers to old clothes, this does not mean that you have to use broken or time
worn models. This can be counterproductive and evoke a negative image instead of the good look
which is the original goal. The goal is to wear garments that look good in order to create a timeless
look at the same time.
Vintage dresses, like all the dresses we find in stores, should be tested and checked very carefully if it
has flaws. If you like dresses inspired by the past, you will love the optical or geometric prints of the
70s, classic black dresses or flared jeans from the 60s or flowers and laces of the 50s that will take us
much further back in time.
By definition, a dress is considered a vintage dress if it goes from the 20 s to the 80 s. This style is
generally welcomed and used by people who give special value to classic dresses. If you are
passionate about or identify with this style, we recommend you invest in some beautiful 50s vintage
dresses.
Generally, vintage dresses stand out for their exclusivity, high quality and distinction. In fact, vintage
dresses are the great passion of the fashion world fans and a source of inspiration for haute couture
designers. As you already know, celebrities are vintage fans! So, when you buy yourself some vintage
dresses, you are basically rocking your celebrity identity.
So, how do you combine your vintage dresses for your special occasion, to create a look that is current
and not outdated?
The truth is that, there is no perfect answer to this. This is because your personal taste plays an
essential role

Labour Movement During The Gilded Age
On March 4th, 1933 one of the most successful and influential individuals in history took presidential
office in the United States of America. Franklin Delano Roosevelt stands with Abraham Lincoln as a
founder of the modern American nation. President Roosevelt took office immediately after the what
was arguably the worst financial collapse in history coined, The Great Depression. With astronomical
levels of unemployment and extreme poverty, FDR s New Deal policy was established to restore
production and stability. He promised change and allowed for a Democratic union to form. During the
Great Depression, the labor movement experienced exponential growth and tremendously favorable
influence; the federal government passed legislation legally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Fortified by increasing government support, employers made it clear that they would do everything
possible to destroy the labor movement. With all odds against them, labor activists during the Gilded
Age were limited to what they accomplish. During the Gilded Age, not only were labor activists not
backed by the federal government as they were during The Great Depression, the government actively
ostracized individuals who participated. During the Gilded Age ...large industrial and financial
institutions secured ever greater economic and political power, ordinary Americans of all ethnic
backgrounds found themselves increasingly subject to forces beyond their control. Individuals did not
have an efficient means of communication; they were unable to talk to co workers due to language
barriers that the employers put forth. The radio gained popularity during The Great Depression, and
almost every single household in American had one. Amid the Gilded Age, individuals simply did not
have FDR s fireside chats in which he explained in his programs to the public, using easily digestible
anecdotes. FDR was able to gain the trust of millions of individuals and allowed them to band together
and form a collective voice. The fellowship and promise of change that FDR instilled in individuals
during the 1930s are mainly why the labor movement was so extraordinary. Workers were lost and
needed a trusting leader to unite them all against the tyrannical corporations. Arguably, FDR is one of
the reasons why the labor movement was thriving during his

Impact On Technology
The advancements in technology have significantly altered our daily lives. As generations pass, it is
remarkable how technology has changed drastically as well as our behaviour towards it. On a global
scale, we are collecting many notable achievements through technology, and due to its many benefits,
our exposure to the wide variety of electronics is gradually increasing. In this day and age, we have
utilized technology more than ever before. Using these platforms more frequently has led to both
positive and negative outlooks in our lives. From using technology, we have discovered a myriad of
effective and dismissive situations regarding our lifestyle. For example, we can now conveniently
interact with each other, but at the same time, we also spend too much time being on our technology.
Although technology can disconnect us from our experiences of reality, it can also provide an
abundance of resources to obtain information from, and it unifies us through multiple forms of
mediums. Firstly, technology has detached us from our experiences with our loved ones and our
interests in the moment. By being increasingly submerged in technology, it has created a rift in our
society. Many people, as stated by Alexandra Tendler of The Odyssey Online, are becoming more and
more immersed in a digital network that is webbed into every aspect of our daily lives. In other words,
we are unaware of how much of our daily actions revolve around technology, and how significantly it
is

  • 2. Analysis Of Quote By Gregory Crewdson Gregory Crewdson s work is very inspiring, he manages to complete an entire story, an entire character art, all in one image and you really get involved in his world. Using light and colour places a major cinematic role, the picture becomes an operatic framing device, there so rich with props and all the other little details that when you look closer you will find something different. Crewdson works with a medium format camera, eight by ten colour negatives, each print is fifty nine inches by ninety inches, when you look closely at his image you see clarity and detail. Crewsdon used Epson printing process in his studio, to maintain control over his entire process, which allowed him to make his pictures feel like his own, like they were part of his world. Quote by Gregory Crewdson My pictures are about a search for a moment a perfect moment. To me, the most powerful moment in the whole process is when everything comes together and there is that beautiful still moment, and for that instant my life makes sense. Birth was made on a sound stage, working with a large art department, Crewdson and his art director start by making sketches, then architectural drawings, they then build the set which normally takes about five to six weeks. Since Margo moved to the neighborhood and discovered a dead body while with Q, she has been different. She tried to piece together the puzzle as a kid, later becoming a puzzle herself when she goes missing after a night out with Q. Margo is known for leaving clues behind on her many adventures that she s gone on, and she usually returns even though no one ever solves the mystery, but this times it s different and it doesn t look like she s coming back this time. The clue s are pointed at Quentin, and why she chooses him is unclear, but all Q knows is that the love of his life has just run away and she wants Q to find her. On his journey, he encounters hardships that are important to the work as a hole because without them Quentin would not be able to do what has never been done before, and that is to find Margo. With the help of his best mates Radar and Ben plus the assistance of Margo s friend Lacey, the race to find Quentin s love is thrown into full gear. The whole end game of this book is to do the impossible, find Margo. In doing the impossible, there is a very high chance that you will run into some obstacles. Margo s parents are one of those obstacles. You would think because they are her parents that the Spiegelman s would be full of concern but also full of hope to find their eldest daughter. • 4. Major General Burnside s Defeat Essential Elements/Causes of Defeat Major General Burnside s failure at the Battle of Fredericksburg could initially be attributed to the army not receiving the pontoon bridges in time to cross the river and sustain the army s momentum. However, MG Burnside s bigger issue can be linked back to his lack of mission planning. The issue of not receiving the pontoon bridges relates directly to the lack of Intelligence Preparation of the Battlefield (IPB). During IPB, the battlefield environment is defined, battlefield effects are described, the threat is evaluated, and threat courses of action are determined (Headquarters, Department of the Army, 1994). If MG Burnside had taken the time to conduct proper terrain analysis of the Rappahannock River ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the pontoon bridges needed by the Union Army had arrived on time maybe that would have altered the course of the battle. General Lee would not have had the time to dig in on the high ground surround Fredericksburg. The battle would have played out differently in that scenario. Or, If General Lee had seen the number of Union Troops around Falmouth maybe he would have decided that Fredericksburg was indefensible, using only delaying tactics against the Union forces, while continuing with his plan of stopping the Union Army further south along the more defensible North Anna River, but closer to Richmond. The other option from MG Hooker was to have crossed the Rappahannock River upstream or further downstream. The upstream option would have been better courses of action for that time of year, but a longer trip to Richmond. In my opinion upon the arrival of the Union forces in Falmouth and no pontoon bridges available, MG Burnside should have been open to the idea MG Edwin Sumner of continuing to cross the Rappahannock River still in pursuit of the enemy. MG Sumner s men would have been a good source of intelligence after they secured the high ground around Fredericksburg and waited for the remaining forces to ford the river and then regroup and then continue moving south towards Richmond. This would have meant that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Death Is The Middle Child Of Parents Edward And Emily... Emily Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts. She was the middle child of parents Edward and Emily Norcross Dickinson. Young Emily Dickinson s early childhood consisted of attending school, reading books, taking part in church activities, and learning to sing and play the piano. Her formal schooling was phenomenal for girls in the early 19th century, though not unusual for girls in Amherst. After spending some time in Amherst district school, she attended Amherst Academy for about 7 years before entering Mount Holyoke Female Seminary (now Mount Holyoke College) in 1847. Dickinson s early years were not without distress. Deaths of friends and relatives, including her young cousin Sophia Holland, prompted questions about death and immortality. Death happens to be a recurring theme in Dickinson s poetry. Although this is the case, no two poems have exactly the same understanding of death, however. Death is sometimes frightening, lenient and gentle, or simply inevitable. The intent of this paper is to analyze the persistent theme of death in Dickinson s poetry and how it is portrayed in some of her most well known pieces. These select few poems will include I like a look of Agony , I heard a Fly buzz when I died and Because I could not stop for Death. As Dickinson got older, her personal life went through a tremendous change. She came into her own as an artist during a short but intense period that scholars estimate ranged from 1858 1865. The student goes to their office and puts a progress note of wat happened in E record. The intern will then fax all the appropriate referrals for the patient on to the agencies that will be providing the services. The next stage in the logic model is outputs. In case management this would be the patients receiving the services we helped them sign up for. To make sure that this happens the interns have to call places that they have faxed the patient s information to, to see if and when they will be accepted into that program. If they will not be accepted the student needs to bring the patient back in and find a different solution for the patient. The sword halo appears to be slightly detached from the bodhisattva s body, mostly connected to the lotus flower seat. The halo gives the body more depth because it provides a background. The Settlement and Innovations of Ancient Rome Essay The Settlement and Innovations of Ancient Rome Rome is an ancient city located on the western coast of Italy by the Meditterranian Sea.(3:289) The city of Rome was founded, according to the legend, by Romulus in 753 BC. Remus and Romulus were two mythological sons of Mars, the god of war. From the northern hemisphere it can be seen between the months of January and June and is located by finding the bottom two stars of the Big Dipper s cup and moving straight out from them until you see the sickle shape (Christoforou 2017). In western culture, the constellation is said to have been discovered by the Sumerians and Egyptians. Around 10,500 BC, the Egyptian Sphinx would have faced Leo as it rose in the sky. Another possible representation is that of Inanna. She is the Lioness of Heaven. Although she is represented by a constellation below the shoulder of Leo, there is a strong connection between her and the lion as it was said that she had a sacred lion that she would take with her into battle. This could be because lions represented the sun and the sun was most prominent summer which also happened to be the time when most wars for foreign lands took place. Things Fall Apart Thin Line Within William Yeats poem, the meaning of the phrase Things Fall Apart refers to how the thin line between the undefinable parts of life and a distant reality exists when all begins to become blurred together; no one sees the difference anymore. The ferrous metals alone can also be divided into Groups , and these are as follows. Non ferrous metals: These materials refer to the remaining metals known in the world. As they lack of mechanical strength these clean metals can hardly be used as structural materials. They are used where their superior properties such as electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance are essential. Aluminum and Copper are used as electrical conductors and, composed with sheet zinc and sheet lead, are used as roofing materials.
