2. Different Methods Of Collaboration
Activities: An activity represents the performance of some behavior in the workflow. Transitions:
Transitions are used to show the passing of the flow of control from activity to activity. They are
typically triggered by the completion of the behavior in the originating activity. Decision points:
When modeling the workflow of a system it is often necessary to show where the flow of control
branches based on a decision point. The transitions from a decision point contain a guard condition,
which is used to determine which path from the decision point is taken. Decisions along with their
guard conditions allow you to show alternate paths through a work flow. 10. Identification of

4. The Importance Of Technology In Feed
In the futuristic world M.T Anderson creates in Feed, the misuse of technology is a problem the
world faces. The novel Feed describes how the world could be in the future if humans let
technology rule their lives. Anderson wants the reader to realize the effect technology has on our
lives, and he also wants us to understand how we are being controlled and manipulated by media.
Therefore, Anderson, fearing that one day technology will surpass humanity by creating a society
of idiots like in the novel Feed, warns the reader from the futureour society might face if we don t
make a change soon.
The novel describes scenarios of the world where we live. For example: people are becoming less
intelligent because technology is dominating the human race. Moreover, One major theme is how
technology, including media and advertising, ruins the future. Since the feed is in the teenagers
head, they live and die by the feed. Everything they want is
Instantaneous. They no longer have a reason to think as individuals and increase there
Intelligence. Instead, they are content with having technology do everything for them.
They cannot even read or write because everything they need is done by the feed. In
School, teenagers learn about the feed, how to find the best bargains, how to get a job and how to
decorate their rooms. Regular subjects such as literature and math are not in School. The constant
advertisements running through their heads also ruin the future of the human race.

5. Merger Of Hospital A And B.
A merger is a partial or total combination of two separate business firms and forming of a new one.
There are predominantly two kinds of mergers: partial and complete. Partial merger usually
involves the combination of joint ventures and inter corporate stock purchases. Complete mergers
are results in blending of identities and the creation of a single succeeding firm. (Hicks, 2012, p
491). Mergers in the healthcare sector, particularly horizontal hospitalmergers wherein two or more
hospitals merge into a single corporation, are increasing both in frequency and importance.

Hospital B was a not for profit organization, located in west side of town. It consists of 154
inpatient beds and a geriatric health center with 100 106 beds, 13 transitional beds and 7
rehabilitation beds. Total staff of 914 employees. It is an old facility and has earmarked $20 million
for renovation to existing emergency room and ICU. Appendix 1, Table 1 provides an overview of
the two facilities before merger and an overview of PRMC after Merger.
Rational for merger
Merger of Hospital A and B and its consolidation into PRMC was essential as Hospital A was
crippled with losses for 3 previous years and was also forecasting losses in the coming year.
Hospital B was struggling with an aging facility. Furthermore, given that both the hospitals were in
the same community and therefore essentially serving the same community, they were competing
both: for the same patients, as well as, the clinical staff. The merger, allowed the new PRMC to
reduce the healthcare costs, address the shortage of healthcare personnel and improve the delivery
of healthcare by reducing the duplication of services and providing wide variety of services to the
small community of 60,000 in southeastern part of Idaho.

8. Satire In Miller s Tale
Chaucer s tone comes forth as more ironic rather than direct criticism. Chaucer overly satirizes
the Miller s profession in order to manipulate the genre of estate satire to hopefully spark public
discourse. Miller understands the Miller s Tale as a complaint aimed at the hierarchy of estates
(Miller 147 48). For Chaucer s purposes, estate satire illustrates hierarchical divisions and social
function and morality of each character type. However, the subtle portraits of Chaucer s pilgrims
bring out how difficult it is to form moral and social judgments because of their dependence upon
each other. Chaucer tries to save himself from ridicule by saying he is only a scribe. In making the
criticism of the estate hierarchy the Miller s complaint... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

However, Absolon continues to try and court Alisoun in a fin amours type of manner. In terms

Multiple Sclerosis
(1) One third of a million Americans suffer from MS and a great percentage of those people are
women. Women account for 73% of MS sufferers. (2) MS usually strikes young adults between the
ages of 20 and 40 years old. (8) There are even some cases of MS being diagnosed in childhood.
Multiple sclerosis is a disease that affects the central nervous system, attacking the brain and the
spinal cord. MS attacks myelin, the fatty material that acts as a protective coating to the body s
nerves. (1) The inflammation of the nerve tissues covering the nerves can affect any part of the
nervous system and varies from person to person. (7) Normal nerve function decreases with the

Therefore, what causes MS? What causes the nerves of the bodies of MS patients to obtain
scarring? Why do people get MS? The cause of MS is not known. But is said not to be hereditary.
The body s immune system usually defends it from bacteria, but in the case of MS the immune
system is attacking the myelin. (1) This attack is adverse to the purpose of the immune system and
the cause is attributed to different theories. The one theory is that there is a virus dormant in the
body that may be a factor in the development of MS and alters the immune system s responsibility.
(1)
Then there is the theory that common diseases or STD s trigger MS and this initiates the
migration of white blood cells to enter the brain. Once in the brain these white blood cells
activate certain parts of the immune system and thus the immune system begins to attack the
myelin that surrounds the nerve. (1) There is another theory that the scarring of the myelin of
the nerve is caused by oxidation injury. (3) Oxidation injury is seemingly caused by unstable
molecules named free radicals. These free radicals supposedly take electrons from healthy
molecules they find in the myelin. These free radicals are also said to occur when the body has
been exposed to toxic chemicals. (5) Free radicals are described as punching holes in the cellular
walls of our bodies. There is another theory that researchers of MS present. The

Observation: Viewing Nature through an Artistic Lens
While visual art has played an important role in many sciences, it was integral to the development
and acceptance of the theory of evolution, as it enabled Charles Darwin to more clearly express
his theories to the general public and other scientists alike. Darwin displayed a sharp eye for visual
differences, (Donald, 5) which is the quality that truly set the visionary apart from other scientists
and the careful observation that allowed him to develop his theories of evolution. Alexander von
Humboldt also exemplified this trait in his journeys that laid the framework for scientific
observation. This keen sense was invaluable in the scientific studies of these two men, as it allowed

Haeckel aimed to forge a personal connection to nature not dissimilar to the connection
Humboldt wished to instill. Though his father wished him to become a doctor, Haeckel loathed
medicine and pursued a passion for zoology, with a specific interest in aquatic invertebrates.
Upon hearing of his hero Humboldt s death, Haeckel began to embrace more of a bohemian
lifestyle, and began to paint more frequently and engage less in scientific experimentation (Wulf,
303). Haeckel realized he would have to take up a position as a professor if he was to marry the
woman he loved, Anna. When he began analyzing specimens through his microscope again, he
viewed them from the perspective of not only a scientist but also an artist, and was mesmerized
by the invertebrates that looked like delicate works of art (Wulf, 304). His observation through a
microscope led to his discovery of radiolarians, single celled aquataic invertebrates that have very
impressive designs and patterns. Much like Darwin and Humboldt, Haeckel displayed incredible
powers of observation as well as extraordinary skill in portraying his observations through
masterful sketches and paintings. Haeckel could observe specimens with one eye down the
microscope and one eye on his drawing board at the same time (Wulf, 304), allowing him to
perfectly translate what he was seeing through his microscope into drawing. This process of

12. Critical Race Theory And Conflict Theory Paper
Critical Race Theory and Conflict TheorySociety contains groups with diverse interests, where
competing interests encourage conflict (Hutchison, 2013). The racial ideology in the United States
is the belief in a hierarchy of races with whites at the top and other races grouped underneath
(Robbins, Chatterjee, Canda, 2011). One way minorities are depicted as different from whites is
through imagery that creates detachment and seclusion between groups (Ortiz Jani, 2010).
Critical Race Theory Critical race theory (CRT) assumes this society was created to empower
White people; CRT is focused on transforming the relationships between race and racial power
assembled by law and culture (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). This theory suggests that racism is
embedded in American society (Helms, 2006), looking at how racial pride in being White can be
exhibited in tolerable ways or as White superiority (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). As a post modern
theory, CRT encourages structural approach by attending to the problems of a diverse society,
instead of purely increasing access to obtainable opportunities and resources (Ortiz Jani, 2011).

It includes a motor controller. The function of the motor controller is to convert the DC into AC.
Mechanically, these motors have simpler design than the other types of the DC motor as there is
no requirement of transferring power to the spinning rotor from the outside of the motor. The
position of the rotor is sensed by the control of a Hall Effect sensor or any other such device to
optimize torque and regulate speed. Advantages Advantages of the Brushless DC motor are their
long life, better efficiency, and high RPM with no maintenance required. Disadvantages The
design of the controllers for these types of the motors is a bit more complex and they have
relatively higher initial cost. These are the only disadvantages of the Brushless DC motor. 2.
Brushed DC motors: The generation of the torque in the brushed DC motors is coming directly
from the DC power. The internal commutation and the magnets that are stationary (magnets can be

include carbon brushes to transfer the power to the rotating shaft. Advantages The cost required
for a brushed DC motor is relatively low compared to other DC motors. These are highly reliable
and have very simpler and basic type to control the motor. Disadvantages The major disadvantages
of this type of motor include a shorter life span

17. The Albany Devils First 30 Games Of 2016
For my project I chose to look at the Albany Devils first 30 games of 2016. I chose this topic
because my parents have season tickets to Albany Devils games and I either go to them when I
am home or watching them on my laptop when I am at school. My elements where the first 30
games of 2016 like stated before, and my variables were goals for, goals against, the result of the
game and the distance traveled. The elements are listed by the day and I also listed who the
opponent was so one can tell if it was an away game or a homegame.
For the first variable, result of the game, I put the outcomes in a table and also made a pie chart
showing their frequency. There were four possible outcomes, win, loss, overtime loss, and
shootout loss. The reason why I did this variable is because each result helps or hurts the team in
some way. When the team gets a win in any way they get two points, when they lose in
regulation, they get two points, and if they lose in either overtime or in a shootout they only get
one point. Turns out the Albany Devils won over half of their first 30 games in 2016, with a
total of 18 wins. They earn zero points in seven of the sampled games. In 17% of the sampled
games they earn only one point per game. The team did not even have one overtime loss. The
Albany Devils earned 41 of the possible 60 points up for grabs from January second to March
thirteenth helping them make it into the Calder Cup Playoffs for the second time in the past three

18. The Value Of Philosophy By Bertrand Russell
The essay The Value of Philosophy by Bertrand Russell suggests that many practical people view
philosophy as rather useless, because these people are according to Bertrand Russell operating both
with wrong conceptions about the ends of life and wrong conceptions about what goods philosophy
strives to achieve. According to Russell the value of philosophyis in what it does for the person who
studies it. He makes the point that goods of the mindare as important in life as goods of the body.
He says that the main value of philosophy is that it enlarges one s thoughts, brings one into union
with the not Self , and helps us avoid being caught in narrowness as human beings. His main ideas
are that philosophy is to be studied to enrich our intellects, diminish our dogmatism, and make us
citizens of the universe.
In the essay, Russell presents the study of philosophy as a valuable undertaking, even though it does
not directly help the whole world or increase one s material wealth. The value is to be found for the
student of philosophy herself or himself. This value is primarily found in the intellectual
development that is available for those who undertake the study philosophy. They can escape
narrowness, dogmatism, and narrowness as they become citizens of the world, with enriched
intellectual capacities. Russell concludes with the idea that the mind becomes enlarged through the
study of philosophy.

IMPORTANCE OF CROSS CULTURE COMMUNICATION IN INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
Cross culture communication is defined as the interaction between the team members who are

early years of painting he experimented at first with landscapes, most of which were of his
home in Figueres, Spain. Dali also made paintings of the surrounding area of his family s
summer home, in the seaside town of Cadaques. Dali s transitional period was between 1927 and
1929, these were years of experimentation. In this period gravel, rocks, cork, and other materials
can be noted on his canvases. This was more abstract period then others, at this time in Dali s life
he had just been kicked out of the art school he had been attending . As Dali moved into his
Surrealist years he became more interested in psychology and exploring his own fears and
fantasies. Dali s Surrealist period last from 1929 1940, in which years he joined the Surrealist
Movement, and shortly after became a leader in this movement. In order to bring images from his
subconscious mind , Dali began to use a method to find inspiration for his art; he would induce
hallucinatory states in himself. As his work matured, and his fame grew

Miep Gies, born as Hermine Santrouschitz was born in Vienna, Austria in 1909. At a young age,
she had to leave her family for economic reasons. She was sent to live in Leiden, Holland. Her

Otto s wife, Edith, and their children Margot and Anne.
During the 1930 s many dangerous things happened with Miep and the Frank family. Miep and
the Frank s disagree with Hitler s and the Nazis policies. In 1938, during a routine renewal of her
Austrian passport, she discovers that it is no longer valid. Her passport was replaced with a
German passport with the Nazi swastika. She is later invited to join a Nazi affiliated women s

22. Excessive Pride In The Iliad
Excessive pride Excessive pride seems to be the core of people s everyday struggles. Having
excessive pride can turn into being obnoxious and self centered. Believing in what you only say
and not being opened minded to the people around you could also have an outcome of disastrous
events. In the novel the iliadby Homer many characters struggle with this trait, some overcome it
and some feed into it. In the beginning of the book Agamemnon seems to be self centered with the
way he leads. Achillestries to defend the people by exclaiming why it s wrong for agamemnon to
take all the prizes that his men have worked for. Agamemnon basically thinks he has higher
seniority which means he gets to pick the best prizes to have amongst his men that they worked
for. When achilles doesn t agree with this he threatens to leave and agamemnon says Fly if you
will, I shall make you no prayers to stay you. I have others here who will do me honor, and above
all Jove, the lord of council. After the war began He realized he shouldn t have underestimated
the trojans, for the achaeans were now losing against them. Later on in the book he puts his pride
aside and asks achilles to come back and help them with the war. This shows when realizing what
is better for his men he puts all aside for the win of the achaeans.

You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is and ocean, if a few drops are dirty, the ocean

individual. By reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton and The World is Not a Pleasant Place to be

be lead to believe that in order to get a positive impact from society you needpeople to support you.

25. George Washington Carver Essay
George Washington Carver
George Washington Carver was born in Diamond Grove, Missouri during the spring of 1864 or
1865. Like many slaves, he was uncertain of his birth date. His mother, Mary, was a slave who
belonged to Moses and Susan Carver. As an infant, slave raiders kidnapped his mother. The
childless carvers reared George and his older brother, James.
Growing up, George was captivated by plants. Many neighbors referred to him as the Plant Doctor
. Since Carver was an African American, he was not accepted at any local schools, therefore he
had to attend school eight miles away from home. He did very well in school. In 1885 he was
accepted to Highland College in Kansas. However, race became an issue again and they took away

As well as creating the Farmers Institute, Carver also helped the farmers of Alabama and the
southern states a great deal. An insect called the boll weevil became an enormous threat to the
cotton fields of southern United States. Carver recommended to these farmers that they should
substitute their cotton crops with sweet potatoes and, the more successful recommendation,
peanuts. This switch would provide farmers another source of income and would also help to
prevent the spread of the insect. The one problem with this solution was that no one knew what to
do with all the peanut crops. Carver was quoted as saying: we can learn to synthesize materials for
every human need from the things that grow. So that is what he did. In total, Carver was able to
create close to three hundred different products from the peanut plant. These wide variety of
products include dyes, ink, insulation, cosmetics, stock feed, medicines, glue, soap, and peanut
milk. Although most of his products never became commercially sold, Carver became widely
known as the Peanut Man . He also created nearly one hundred uses for the sweet potato crops.
Even though George WashingtonCarver was well known throughout parts of the south, his real
rise to fame started in 1916. Carver was invited to join the Royal Society for the Arts. Shortly
afterward, the Carver Products Company was founded to market his many products. Carver was

The Great Smog of London and the Scientific Implications in Today s World
Turn of the century London, the emergence of the middle class has forced the cultural bias to
shift in favor of more homes, more people, and a lot of energy consumption. Science s solution
to the energy crisis is a seemingly perfect one: distribute and utilize a more available fuel. Coal
burned slower than wood and therefore kept people and homes warm more resourcefully. For a
while it seemed like a miracle solution. The industrialization of the previous age had been using
coal as well, and when the air became polluted with the factory and energy refuse, the smog was
swept away in a matter of hours (Kilen, C.) That went on until early winter of 1952. That fall
had been an unusually cold one, and the coal had been burning day and night. The factories had
been chugging on, and the black smoke kept rolling. The process by which factories burn coal is
as follows: the coal is blown into the furnace where it burns while still airborne. The heat is used to
warm water, which then produces steam, which spines a turbine. The factories that burn coal now
use methods to slightly lessen the pollution, such as wet limestone to absorb the sulfur (How Coal
Works, Union of Concerned Scientists, p.4). This particular winter, though, the pollutants would
not be swept away as they had been in the past. This is due to the fact that on this particularly cold
December, an inversion occurred over the city of London. An

developing alluring visuals and entrancing soundtracks, and then strategically targeting them to
audiences through the use of powerful marketing campaigns. Disney Princesses have almost perfect
fairytale bodies, beautifully colored clothing, and storyline lifestyles that young girls have come to
envy. But that is not the case for princesses such as Pocahontas and Mulan. These princesses, who
are arguably the most realistic looking and normal of the bunch, are rarely seen in Princess
merchandise. Orenstein s theory is that Disney exploits only certain princesses through strong
merchandising and marketing because certain princesses have outfits and accessories that are more

Sometimes, the deployed spouse has trouble getting back into the swing of things like managing
money and household routines. These phases seem to affect every family in many different
ways, positively and negatively. Throughout the deployment process, children seem to be the
most affected in the family when their loved one is about to leave them for a long period of
time. The earliest war time deployment in history was back during World War II (Lester and
Flake). This had to have been an extremely tough time for families considering how brutal this
particular war was. About 40% of children in active duty families are younger than five years
old. Out of this 40%, 14% of the children have school issues: failing, having little to no interest in
learning and their work, and problems with their teachers. More than half saw their grades fall
when one of their parents was deployed. School aged children seem to have more effects when a
parent is deployed. Studies show that the older the child, the more likely it is that they will use
drugs and consume alcohol (Lester and Flake). According to Patricia Lester and Eric Flake,
school aged children show higher levels of emotional and behavioral distress. Being in school

38. Unemployment And Its Effects On Unemployment
The term Hysteresis means dependency on past history; Hysteresis in unemployment therefore
implies that unemployment depends on its past. This further implies that demand or supply side
shocks to unemployment have the tendency to permanently affect the unemployment path (Saeid
Eisazadeh 2014). There are several explanations for the persistence of unemployment, George S. et
al (1988) highlights two broad explanations for the persistence of unemployment. The first states
that long run unemployment rate is impacted by exogenous shocks with structural characteristics.
Such theories argue that technological changes increases the rate of structural unemployment for
example changes in technology render some skills obsolete and even in the face of new job
openings, the skills sets are insufficient or poor matches to these new openings (Gabriel P, 2015). In
this sense, cyclical unemployment readily translates to structural unemployment. This phenomenon
could equally be referred to as unemployment scarring, as the existence of long term unemployment
leaves persistent scars on the employment prospects of the unemployed (George S. et al, 1988).
Another perspective given to the persistence of unemployment is that labour market is slow in
adjusting to a new equilibrium such that even temporary shocks persist. Both explanations point
towards hysteresis More recent studies of high unemployment persistence rely more on the first
explanation, and have also attempted to identify the

Essay on I Am Malala (#2) As part of the Noble Committee, it has come to my understanding that
it is time to award the winner(s) of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize. There have been a select few
who have earned the prize from human rights activist, Martin Luther King Jr., to the faithful and
compassionate Mother Teresa. In order to be awarded with this prize, our committee believes
that the candidate has made the world a better place while exhibiting the traits of wisdom,
experience, and ambition. This year, I would like to nominate Malala Yousafzai. Now, I
understand that my choice may be skeptical. After all, what has this seventeen year old done to
deserve such a prize? Most of the time, teenagers are found hanging out with friends, working part
time jobs, or tweeting about the latest celebrity drama. These teenagers are not concerned about
changing the world for the better. However, I argue that Malala Yousafzai is not an average
teenager. Malala Yousafzai is a young Pakistani woman, who I believe should earn the 2014 Nobel
Peace Prize. She fits the requirements of bringing peace and equality to the world, and
demonstrates courage by fighting for girls education. In addition, Malala faced two challenging
obstacles in her life. First of all, Malala understood that the Taliban s laws were biased, especially
the rules directed towards women. The Taliban is an Islamic terrorist organization that imposes a

The chemical bonds in graphite are stronger than those in Diamond. Diamonds have 3 layers of
carbon sheets and graphite has 2 layers. With each layer of Graphite, the carbon atoms contain
strong bonds. The layers slide across each other making the graphite softer. Out of the different
forms of Carbon, Graphite is the most stable under different conditions. (Thadani, 2012) Chem

can see how you can go from your everyday ordinary pencil to a crystal clear diamond. Each
Specific aspect is different, even if it s only a slight difference, that s how you create these
different substances from Carbon. The different shapes and properties allow us to have
completely different properties. History of Graphite: Roughly in the 1500s, English people
discovered black rocks. The villagers saw that these rocks would mark the sheep, so they began
to break off sticks of it so they could use it to mark their sheep. From this, this eventually ended up
in the pencils that we had today. In 1795, Nicholas Jacques Conte discovered mixing clay with
graphite to make pencils. Today, this mixture is still used in our pencils.

Their incorrect usage is a possibility for security attacks I.3. Tabnabing According to Wikipedia
notes, Aza Raskin is a security researcher and design expert who coined the Tabnabing attack
earlier in 2010. This computer exploit and phishing attack, persuades users to submit their login
details and passwords to popular websites by impersonating those sites and convincing the user
that the site is genuine. The attack takes advantage on users trust and inattention to detail in
regard to tabs and ability of modern web pages to rewrite tabs and their contents a long time after
the page is loaded. The other phishing attacks will ask you to click on an obfuscated link but the
tabnabing work differently because it will just load a fake page in one of the most opened page
in your browser. I.4. Evil twin Wikipedia describes an evil twin as a type of Wi Fi attack, similar
in nature to Web site spoofing and e mail phishing attacks. Here s how an evil twin attack works:
A hacker sets its service identifier (SID) to be the same as an access point at the local hotspot or
corporate wireless network. The hacker disrupts or disables the legitimate AP by disconnecting it,
directing a denial of service against it, or creating RF interference around it. Users lose their

The Death Penalty The Death Penalty started in the eighteenth Century B.C. when it was
established into the Code of King Hammurabi in Babylon, which codified the the Death Penalty for
25 different crimes. The Eighth Amendment states that the Death Penalty is considered a cruel and
unusual punishment, which means that the Death Penalty is unfair to the persons getting the
Penalty, but is also unconstitutional because it s a punishment that ends the lives of people. So
really you are killing the person that killed another or more, and you are just adding to the death
toll. I oppose the Death Penalty because it could put innocent lives to death and costs way too much
the country could afford to use. To actually conduct a Death Penalty... Show more content on

The risk of innocent people being sentenced is high. About 14% of executions were of the innocent,
and they weren t found out until long after their execution. This supports my claim because too
many innocent people are being executed against their will, and most of them aren t even involved
with the murder, just innocent bystanders who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong
time. In conclusion, there is just too much risk of innocent bystanders being executed for doing
nothing wrong, and we should get the facts and evidence straight before we go kill an innocent

Analysis of В‘Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
В‘Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck is a classic novel, tragedy, written in a social tone. The
authorial attitude is idyllic, however, as the story develops it changes into skeptic. It is evident that
Steinbeck knew the setting and places he is writing about. In my opinion Steinbeck drew the
subject matter from his own experience of working on ranches, he was interested in special kinds

The men in the novel want to be like brothers to one another. They want to protect each other and
to know that there is someone they can rely on. However, the world is too cruel to sustain such
relationships. Lennie and George came closest to this ideal friendship, but they are forced to
separate tragically. With this, a rare friendship vanishes, but the rest of the world represented by
Curley and Carlson, who watch George leaving his friend s dead body fails to acknowledge it.
The last theme is the impossibility of dreams. Most of the characters dream of a
Motifs, which are repeated in the novel, are loneliness, friendship, strength and weakness. Men
like George who migrate from farm to farm are often alone. As the story develops, Candy,
Crooks, and Curley s wife all confess their deep loneliness. Each of these characters searches for a
friend, someone to help them measure the world, as Crooks says. For George, the hope of such
friendship dies with Lennie. Steinbeck explores different types of strength and weakness
throughout the novel. The first, and most obvious, is physical strength. As the novel opens,
Steinbeck shows how Lennie possesses physical strength beyond his control, when he cannot help
killing mice. Physical strength is very important for men like George and Lennie. Curley, as a

48. Liverpool s Steven Gerrard versus AS Roma s Francesco Totti
Drawing comparisons between the career trajectories of Liverpool s talismanic captain Steven
Gerrard and AS Roma s patriarch Francesco Totti is an inevitable prospect. Both were passionate
childhood fans of their native football clubs. Both were recruited into their club academies at a very
tender age. Both have risen through the ranks and established themselves as the heart and soul of
their club. And both have consistently led from the front and guided their clubs to football glory.
However, the strongest bond that exists between the two is their relentless, unmitigated devotion to
their beloved club. The common thread that binds Totti and Gerrard together is their unique ability
to stand by their clubs through thick and thin.
But the past few years have been particularly painful for the aficionados of Roma and Liverpool.
Totti and Gerrard have seen their club slip down their respective domestic league tables in recent
years owing to the dominance of their cross country rivals. Both Roma and Liverpool have failed
to qualify for the UEFA Champions Leaguesince the 2010 2011 and 2009 2010 seasons
respectively. Their continued absence from Europe s premier football cup competition has severely
tarnished their image and dented their aspirations of attracting the big name players to their clubs
which their domestic rivals have been successfully able to do so.

50. Fiscal Austerity Debate
Fiscal Austerity Debate September 26, 2012 Fiscal Austerity Debate Recently, the Spanish
government s new bundle of tax increases and expenditure cuts pitches an attention on a
progressively argumentative discussion about whether fiscal austerity in Europe is further
damaging the patient s health rather than leading to retrieval (Terry, 2009). Even though this
might sound a little boring, the word fiscal austerity has really turned out to be a topic that has
been getting hotter by the minute. This has been a subject of debate that is among experts and
political economists in current weeks, andГ‚ I for one believe that it is a much needed discussion.
Many are unaware how important this debate has become, and that it is well worth the discussion.
First, it invites everyone to take a good look that goes way beyond the mindless dramatics of this
year s campaigning and enacting, and instead to really start to examine a question that has become
far more pertinent to our long term safety, wealth and happiness, specifically: What is the right
procedure, size, and possibility of government? What is administration s nature and what should it
be doing, or possibly more fatefully,Г‚ what it is doing? Second, the discussion certainly asks how
we should be trying to finance the government we have, and whether its expenditure, taxing, using,
and money production are ethical or not, and realistic or not. Persons should pay consideration to
this discussion, as its consequence will

Theoretical Physics, a modern topic of science with an extremely deterring sound and famous for
being beyond complex, is a subject which cannot be explained with ease. Stephen Hawking, the
most famous living scientist today, wrote A Brief History of Time in 1988, updated in 1996, in
order to take upon this daunting task of explaining basic theoretical physicsto a population who had
previously barely studied any science. Within A Brief History of Time, Hawking touches upon
seven topics in depth while easily explaining them in a simple manner: our picture of the universe,
space and time, the expanding universe, the uncertainty principle, elementary particles and the
forces of nature, black holes, and the origin and fate of the universe.... Show more content on

Thus, the ether was created. Albert Einstein proposed though that the ether was not needed, for
objects do not have to be at absolute rest as long as there was no absolute time. Thus, the theory
of relativity was developed. In his discussion of light, Hawking cites that light is described by a
cone. The top of the cone represents the future path of light, the bottom half of the cone
represents the past path of the light, while the central vertex represents the actual light. In the
third chapter, Hawking takes upon the continuous and accelerated expansion of the universe. In
order to prove this, he uses the Doppler shift which is almost identical to the Doppler Effect. In
sound, the Doppler Effect creates an increasingly louder sound as the event approaches us, and
then as the event moves away the sound begins to dull. In light the same basis applies, but with a
color shift. Blue shifting and red shifting are the opposite effects of the Doppler shift . When
objects are moving away from us, their light is shifted in the red direction on the electromagnetic
spectrum. Inversely, as objects approach us; their light is shifted in the blue direction. Hawking
uses this to prove the expansion of the universe, for many stars found by Edwin Hubble, of whom
the Hubble telescope is named after, are observed to be red shifted. Thus, Hawking cites the

52. Kant, The Rallying Call For Kant s Enlightenment
Sapere aude! is the rallying call for Kant s enlightenment. Translated, it roughly means dare to be
wise. Plato, through the voice of Socrates in the dialogues The Euthyphro and The Crito,
demonstrates the ultimate example of Kant s definition of enlightenment. Socrates fearlessly dares
to be wise.
In 1784, Immanuel Kant wrote a groundbreaking essay addressing a question posed by Reverend
Johann Zollner. The essay was entitled What is Enlightenment . Within this essay, Kant defines
what enlightenment. Kant gives a very basic answer to the question what is enlightenment? in the
very first sentence of the essay. Kant very directly states, Enlightenment is man s release from his
self incurred tutelage (Kant, 1). This means that man prevents themselves from reaching
enlightenment by allowing themselves to stay in a state of immature tutelage or intellectual
dependence on others. Kant continued to explain how easy it truly is to remain in tutelage. Kant
expressed If I have a book, which understands for me, a pastor who has a conscience for me, a
physician who decides my diet, and so forth, I need not trouble myself. I need not think... (Kant, 1)
It is once a person liberates themselves from the bonds of immaturity and begins to make their own
judgments and conjure up their own ideas that a person is actually enlightened. Not only does Kant
explain what it means to be enlightened, but Kant describes all the different requirements for
enlightenment to be achieved. This
