capacity to get to software/programming applications over the web. The applications are
facilitated in the cloud and can be utilized for an extensive variety of errands for both people and
companies. Google, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr are all samples of SaaS, with clients ready to

Advantages There are various reasons why SaaS is useful to associations and individual clients
alike. No extra equipment costs; the handling force needed to run the applications is supplied by
the cloud supplier. No starting setup costs; applications are prepared to utilize once the client
subscribes. Pay for what you utilize; if a bit of programming is required for a constrained period
then it is paid for over that period and memberships can as a rule be ended whenever. Utilization
is adaptable; if a client chooses they require more capacity or extra administrations, for instance,
then they can get to these on interest without expecting to put in new programming or
equipment. Redesigns are mechanized; at whatever point there is an upgrade it is accessible
online to existing clients, regularly gratis. No new software will be needed as it regularly is
with different sorts of utilizations and the upgrades will more often than not be sent naturally by
the cloud supplier. Cross gadget similarity; SaaS applications can be gotten to by means of any
web empowered gadget, which makes it perfect for the individuals who utilize various distinctive
gadgets, for example, web empowered telephones and tablets, and the individuals who don t
generally utilize the same PC. Open from any area; instead of being confined to establishments on
individual PCs, an application can be gotten to from anyplace with a web empowered gadget.

What giants? [says] Sancho, amazed, (Cervantes 36). Those giants you see over there with long
arms: some of them have them well nigh two leagues in length, [replies] his master, (Cervantes 36).
In Chapter 7 of Don Quixote, Miguel de Cervantes portrays Don Quixote as an idealistic character
who believes that the windmills are giants, and because of this, it can be said that Don Quixote has a
crazy mind that creates objects to be something they are not. Don Quixote is a chivalric romance
and takes place at the period of the Spanish Inquisition; however, Cervantes Xportrays a lunatic man
who goes on adventures throughout La Mancha, Spain as a knight errant. Throughout this novel
shows Quixote being quixotic. Quixotic deals with extravagant chivalry or romance, followed by
seeing objects impractically. In the story, there are characters who see and think in a... Show more

In reality, however, they are just windmills. In this scene, Quixote and Panza are seeing thirty or
forty windmills as they are standing on a hill. Quixote says to Panza, Do you see over yonder, my
friend Sancho Panza, thirty or more huge giants? (Cervantes 36). Quixote tells this to Panza
because Quixote s reaction towards these windmills are caused by his thinking that he is a real
knight errant, and his duty of a knight errant is to fight in battles and conquer the giants.
Another example is in Chapter 18, when Quixote and Panza are traveling, and Quixote sees

7. Air Pollution In China
It is no secret that China is one of the fastest growing countries in the nation, and over the past 3
decades China has had the fastest economic growth over all major nations. In conjunction to China
s economic development and industrialization comes the excessive burning of coal as a source of
energy. According to china s ministry of environmental protection 9 out of 10 cities have such
robust developed economy that they fail the countries pollution test. Manufacturing activities are
the leading cause of environmental problems, And as the country continues to burn coal the
country shows dangerous signs of apocalyptic levels. China is the world s largest polluter and
they burn almost as much coal as the rest of the world combined. Industrial areas outside the city
burn coal around the clock in order to power factories, high winds carry particulatematter
throughout the country, not only affecting rural areas, but urban communities as well. China s
reasons for using coal as an energy source, as opposed to alternatives, are that they have a huge
resource for coal as well as it is an inexpensive and reliable source of energy. Although, burning
coal is on the decline, it is still a large part of China s energy structure. It is visibly evident that
China s air pollutionis at a frightening all time high. These highly toxic particulate matter levels are
not only concerning for the 21 million residents of Beijing, but as well as the rest of the world.

The earth and the air is an oil painting by the French Surrealist Yves Tanguy. It is one of the
modern art paintings in the Cone Collection, in the Baltimore Museum of Art. It is created by
Tanguy in 1941. It is about 30 x 40 wide with a wooden frame. The background colors divide the
piece into mainly two sections, the top and the bottom part. The top part is about 3/5 of the whole
piece. It is painted in blue and white, like a watercolor like sky without any subject matters. It has a
dreamy feeling because the colors blend smoothly.
There is no clear horizon line in the painting but it is still possible to separate the ground and the
sky by the background colors or the compositions. The top part is in mainly blue and white while the

The larger pieces are in the front while the objects in the back are smaller. Also the cast black
shadows of the objects are distinct with clear edges and more than one light spots are found in the
painting. Therefore there are several light sources coming from the right hand corner of the painting
and shine to the objects.
It is assumed that the main focus of the painting is the bottom part because the objects are placed
there and they draw viewers attention first. They are realistic but abstract and evenly distributed
on the page. They look like modern sculptures not only with alien shapes but also innovative
colors. There are a group of building like shapes on the most front of the painting. They are
connected at the bottom part so they can be described as a group. They have different dimensions
and one of them has a very sharp part pointing upwards to the melting land between the ground and
the sky. There are several alien objects around the main group, which some of them are really tiny
but still are painted precisely. There is a transparent objectin between the middle ground and the
background on the left hand side of the painting. The whole shape blends into the background
because of its transparency. Also it is because there is not enough light shinning to the object to
make it easily visible. One of the interesting about the painting is there are two super tiny spots
near the transparent object. They are painted clearly and you can see them only on closer

Brien s belief that storytelling helps heals the wounds caused by the pain and confusion of
coping with unexpected death. After Linda dies, O Brien uses his subconscious and imagination
to bring her back to life as he doesn t want to forget her. He supports this point when he says And
as a writer now, I want to save Linda s life. Not her body her life. (O Brien 236) This again shows
how the dead can still be alive through literature. He wants to show how she will continue to live
on inside of his writings. His experience with Linda s death also explains how he was able to deal
with the constant death in Vietnam. Similar to Linda, O Brien is able to bring Norman Bowker
and Kiowa back to the land of the living using the stories. As O Brien says himself We kept the
dead alive with stories ( O Brien 239) He is showing that their lives and the way they spend them
are much more important than them dying, and he will make sure this stays true by keeping
writing about them and making sure no one forgets their story.. Ultimately O Brien s storytelling
is a way that he able to keep his psychology in check. He is able to cope with everything that

14. The Hero s Journey By Joseph Campbell
THESIS
The main points of the hero s journey by Joseph Campbell is the basis of most stories throughout
history, Divergent and The Epic of Gilgamesh being prime examples.
PURPOSE
These stories follow the format of the hero s journey because it shadows the steps that Campbell
explained. In his study of world hero myths Campbell discovered that they are all basically the
same story retold endlessly in infinite variations (Vogler). Campbell s idea of this journey that all
heroes complete is present in the duration of most stories that have been told throughout history and
in modern day works today.
INTRODUCTION
Throughout these stories the steps of the Hero s Journey are found to move the story along.
Beatrice and Gilgamesh were both called to fulfill their destiny becoming the heroes of their own
stories, fighting for what they thought was right, and bringing their society into a position of
security. Society today is using this method with or without trying making this route able to touch
the author in a more personal way, his archetypal development of characters and the exposition of a
portion of his own personal Hero s Journey illustrated through the protagonist s Hero s Journey.
(Dingman). The author can bring his own our eyes into the story not realizing that they re lives are
also journeys that they have yet to discover.
Joseph Campbell s hero s journey consists of three major parts: the Departure, Initiation, and
Return. Each of these categories containing

16. Analysis Of At The Abbey Theater By Rory O Neill
At the Abbey Theater in Dublin, Rory O Neill, a LGBT activist and drag queen known as Panti,
confessed that he was a homophobe like everyone else. Panti explained that to grow up in a society
that is overwhelmingly homophobic and to escape unscathed would be miraculous. As a black man,
I am very aware of racism and how it operates whether institutionally, internally or personally
mediated. As a gayman, something I am still trying to deconstruct, I have been oblivious, perhaps
intentionally, to my internalized homophobia. This dissonance in self awareness is partially due to
the fact that I knew I was black from early childhood but did not realize I was gay until sixth
grade and did not begin to even accept it until twelfth. Many people compare the struggles of
being black to that of being gay. In my opinion, despite some similarities the struggles are
completely different. One is rooted in the legacy of over 200 years of slavery and the other in the
tradition in people trying to cure homosexuality. One is more of an external conflict, the other
internal. When I am followed around in stores like J.Crew or Saks, I am outraged and speak up.
Realizing that ignorant people need to be educated, I usually write a letter to the VP of the
company or loudly claim that I am being racially harassed in front of other customers. And it
works. The VP s call me back and apologize, the staff goes through a sensitivity training, and I
usually get a gift card with a hefty sum. On

17. The Evolution of Digital Film
In order for digital film to exist like it does today it had to evolve from something. Digital film
evolved from Film or celluloid film as it is originally more recognized. I have a few questions that I
wish to cover early on and continue to develop as time goes on. What is digital Cinema and what
are the advantages and or disadvantages of it over film. What is film celluloid and where did it
originate from ? Why did digital film start ? finally what is next for digital film is there more to
come or will it transition to something else ?.
Firstly celluloid film is a thin sheet of celluloid, created from nitrocellulose and camphor.
Celluloid can be traced back to as far as 1856 to an English man called Alexander Parkes. Parkes
has been found to be the first person who was granted the first patent which described a plastic
material which he called Parkesine . (1) However it wasn t actually Parkes that patented
celluloid. John Wesley Hyatt an inventor and his brother Isaiah who actually patented their
material as celluloid. So celluloid originated from New Jersey in the United States. Celluloid
was actually created to become a replacement for the use of ivory in many products. However is
made its way into film industry later on. This was primarily down to the work of John H. Stevens.
John H. Stevens was a chemist at the Celluloid Manufacturing Company . (1) He discovered that a
material know as amyl acetate was a solvent for diluting celluloid (1) This discovery

20. The Boston University Archaeology Department Essay
On May 9th, 2016, the Boston University Archaeology Department held a public outreach event
called, Eating Archaeology , where guests were served foods from four different time periods and
places: Bronze age Mycenae, Bronze age China, Pre Columbian Mesoamerica, specifically the
Aztecs, and mid 19th century Boston. The creation of these dishes was made possible through
analyzing archaeological sites through the lens of the newly popularized sub field, archaeologyof the
senses, which studies how the materiality of the world contributes to and is influenced by how
humans use their senses (Hamilakis 4). Through analyzing the bodily senses, archaeologists can
create a more detailed interpretation of the experiences of ancient humans (Hamilakis i). This new
interest in the sensory aspect of human culture brings a fascination with the types of foods that
people consumed in the past. With this in mind, a group of graduate students in the fields of
archaeology, food history, and gastronomy, at Boston University, collaborated to test if material
remains can be used to recreate ancient recipes. Through eating these foods, one can glimpse a part
of the culture that ate the dish, illustrating the power of taste, and demonstrating that archaeology
can be used to create something tangible for the public. This paper will focus on the research
process for the mid 19th century brothel site, located in Boston, and how the materials gathered

many times for most sweeping statements to become embedded in one s thought processes.

Hector (Zero) Hector Zeroni is unpredictable at the start, the middle, and the end of the story. In
Louis Sachar s adventure fiction Holes Hector Zeroni is the most unpredictable person in the
story. The first reason why we think Hector is unpredictable is because he never spoke to anyone
except for Stanley. The second reason Hector is unpredictable is because lot of the people were
surprised whenever Hector did something a little different than how he acts. The third reason
Hector was unpredictable is because no one paid too much attention (except for Stanley) might
have caused him to do things that he normally wouldn t do. The First reason why we think Hector

Mark, unlike Holden was the character in the narrative to betray a fellow character. Mark
allowed or agreed with Sean Parker that Eduardo had to be punished for freezing the account
linked to the company but in the process betrayed the friendship between himself and Eduardo.
Even though Mark may have not been on hundred percent on the decision of dropping Eduardo s
share, he still decided to betray his loyalty of Eduardo by choosing Sean instead, who in the end
also betrays Mark. In this case, it seems that most friendships in The Social Network were never
meant to survive; all were meant to crash and burn. For Holden, he basically expects most people
to betray him, he expects most people to be phoneys and expects all innocence to be lost in most
children. Holden constantly feels betrayed with most of the other characters in the story, which
could definitely be a main cause to his mental problems. Early in the novel, Mr Spencer betrays
him. He was one of the few teachers at his school that Holden could relate with and trust. Spencer
had told Holden of his expulsion, and Holden felt betrayed by his teacher. When Holden returns

Current Art Vs Ancient Art
Introduction
Since time immemorial, art has always been a product of man s emotional and intellectual
connection with the world. The primary aim of art is to create a message that will either trigger
an inexplicable consciousness within the spirits of its audience, or provoke wisdom among the
minds of the curious persons. Owing to its deep rooted role for man, art has long been explored in
several manners, with some scholars pursuing the mere aspects of art, while some take on deep
comparative examinations. However, the act of connecting ancient art to contemporary art is not, as
easy as taking into account, the time both came into existence. More so, how current artists
perceive the ancient art, and how it influences their current works. There is a more precise, more
diverse approach in understanding how ancient art measure up to the contemporary ones. The
overall purpose of this research paper is to gain insight of the perception and attitude towards
ancient art among current artists. To understand and complete this research topic, the paper will
offer deep research, which will also include interviewing current artists with an aim of completing
the set objectives. Nonetheless, current artists have the obligation to appreciate ancient art, so as to
develop the act of appreciating art works in the society, including the works of current artists.

31. The Importance Of Poetry In Literature
Danish Faruqi
Sometimes you come to hate things not because of what they are, but because of what meant to
you. They haven t done anything particularly done anything to you directly. But them being in your
presence doesn t help. I don t hate a lot of things, and in literature, that list is even smaller.
Through my experiences in 12th grade, I realized my new found hatred for confessional poetry and
its effects. Due to my experiences, I don t appreciate or rather take notice to literature that might be
very interesting.
For our Highschool, 12th grade was an interesting year, especially since this was the first year that
an inter school debate talks would take place. Something that was sponsored by the chancellor and
the mayor. Before we even knew about this competition, our class was chosen. When we got to
know about this, the class and the teacher didn t share the same enthusiasm, to say the least. We
were reluctant to participate in anything that put us in front of cameras or other people. But the
teacher was startled and proud that one of her classes was chosen to participate. And thus, the race
to compete was on.
Since the debate talks were on Virginia Woolf s A Room of One s Own, it required us to
understand her style of writing Stream of Consciousness. From there on, our part was to understand
a book which has multiple meanings and multiple perspectives. To make things easier, our teacher
chose to use confessional poetry as a method to uplift only

32. Rape, Violence, And Feminist Networks
There has been a lot of discussion of rape within sociologists, criminologists, and feminist networks.
In my own words, rape is someone engaging with someone else sexually without their consent.
Rape is not strictly vaginal penetration, nor an exclusive heterosexual only act. If two people are in
a relationship or married, there is still no justification to the perpetrator for their act. In the 21st
century, although rapecrimes have dropped 24.1% from 2001 to 2010, but not all rapes are
reported (Eitzen, Zinn, Smith, 2010). Curtis (1997) reported that 42% of rape victims do not
tell anyone of their assaults. There may be a number of reasons why victims don t speak out.
Victims of rape typically fear their own safety and lives if they speak out on it. Men who are
victims typically don t report rapes because it s considered demasculizing to their gender. Rape
victims are traumatized for life, they live with the burden, as their perpetrators walk away free
(Curtis, 1997). NPR s Rachel Martin interviewed author, Jon Krakauer, and they discussed
Krakauer s new book on the issue of acquaintance rape. Curtis (1997) defines acquaintance rape in
the situation that the victim knows their assaulter. With the main subject being acquaintance rape,
Krakauer s book focuses on this college town, Missoula, in Montana. Krakauer tells Martin that 230
rapes have occurred in Missoula, without prosecution (NPR, 2015). From there, Krakauer talks
about one of those cases.

In study by the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in 1999, it revealed that twenty two
percent of the one thousand water bottles being tested contained an alarming amount of chemicals
that surpassed the health limit in one or more states. In addition, out of one hundred and three
brands that were tested, at least eighteen of them were found to have had contained microbiological
contaminants, once again exceeding the health limits (Hyder). Although the study is a bit older, the
problem of finding chemicals in bottled water has continued. Since the year 2000, there have been
nine outbreaks due to contamination in bottled water (Commercially Bottled Water). In 2004, Coca

35. Similarities Between Ancient Egypt And Ancient Athens
A Comparison of Societies in Ancient Egypt and Periclean Athens
Midterm Essay Maureen Cairns
In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first
mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has a stable food supply, social
levels and classes, specialization of labor, a system of government, and a highly developed culture.
Both the societies of ancient Athens and Egypt fit into these parameters. In this essay we will
explore social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to these
societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking
people as superiors or inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king
and queen at the top, with priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming
second, then the commoners who worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had
been captured in war. (Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was
structured as such: the Pharaoh came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the
Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, responsible for
making local laws. Priests came next, and were responsible for performing rituals and
ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were the only ones who could read or

Participants These three experiments aim to explore the various aspects associated with extinction
procedures. To facilitate these experiments, we used the Sniffy the virtual rat Pro Version 3.0
program by Wadsworth Cengage Learning. This program attempts to accurately simulate some of
the psychological processes and behavioral phenomena found in rats. In this program, all of the
subjects are always starved for food, regardless of how much it has eaten. This simplifies the
process of operant conditioningby reducing the amount of time required to simply wait for the
virtual rat to be hungry again.
For the following experiments, 22 virtual rat subjects, each supervised by its own experimenter,
were subjected to operant conditioning techniques, followed by extinction, secondary
reinforcement and spontaneous recovery. Since the same program was used for each of the 22
subjects, all the virtual rats can be considered to be identical to one another. Additionally, as a
result of the food deprivation programming, all virtual rats are ready for the presentation of food as
a reinforcer. Although each experiment consisted of 22 rats, the rats in experiment three are the
same rats that were used in experiment one. Therefore, the total number of subjects is 44 instead of
66 because the same virtual rat subjects are used in two of the three experiments. In order to collect
and monitor the relevant data, the program has various windows that display important information.

Strategic Alternative 2 Backward Integration
Backward integration is a type of vertical integration in which a company takes control over its
suppliers. It is a form of acquisition of the intermediary players involved in supplying the raw
materials used in the production process of the firm. Raw materials, intermediate manufacturing and
assembly are controlled by the firm whereas distribution to the end customer is done by a third
party company. In this way, company increases production efficiency and gains a competitive
advantage by lowering its production cost.
Bergerac can opt for the buy option and implement its backward integration by acquiring
GenieTech. GenieTech can provide the company with eight efficient molding machines for the
acquisition price of $ 5.75 million. The price includes experienced labor force and management.
Bergerac can fulfill its chemical reagent demand by using 4 out of 8 moulds provided in the
acquisition. Rest of the presses can be used in the expansion process or can be used to meet the
demand of a third party. This investment can result in the reduction of overhead expenses by
twenty six percent per unit. Bergerac can pay the amount over a period of five years making the

The Golden Age was a period where the middle class was on the rise. Before this period the middle

Even though your series Chesapeake Shores has come to an end as far as a book series goes,
will you ever consider writing any more books in that series? Well, I ll consider anything. At this
moment, I m not planning to write any more in that series. And as far as that impacts the TV
show, amazingly, we got through the entire first season, and we haven t even finished book one. So
we ve got a long way to go before we would empty out the coffers of the books. That s why I
certainly hope it goes on cause we ve got lots of characters I hope we get to. There are little bits
from books two and three that got pulled into the first season. The TV show also allows us to
dig deeper into storylines that are in the background of the books. Just an example, we know Abby

going to get to any time soon although it s earlier in the series, is the book in which Mick and
Megan finally get back together which was in A Chesapeake Shores Christmas. And I kind of

have to wait and

the reader realizes that the article Rough Justice has the most relevant and sufficient article to
support it because the way the author uses logical appeals and facts. To start off, Time to Assert
American Values , by New York Times, the author tries to convince the reader that what happened
to Michael Fay was wrong and that Singapore way of punishment is cruel and eccentric. In the
article, the main argument was shown in this quote People who were misfits in their own society
because they believed, among other things, that it was wrong to punish pilferage with hanging or
crimes of any sort with torture ( New York Times 180). New York Times claims that people in the
U.S should stand up for what happened to Michael Fay because as Americans we stand up for cruel
actions and torture. The author uses Empirical evidence to sum up the American beliefs. In this
article most of the evidence continues to be more opinionated and a generalization of How
America feels. For example While this country cannot dictate to the government of Singapore, no
one should fail to exhort it to behave mercifully ( New York Times 180). Most of the
