Well before I read this book, I actually did think about...
Well before I read this book, I actually did think about what the title could mean and why the
author wrote it so. Before I read this book I thought the book was about astronauts or something
ridiculous. During the book I had some ideas that The Fault In Our Stars meant a mistake or
something that predestined one s fate. I was kind of close. The title meant that the Fault is not
always in the others, but in ourselves. For instance, Hazel Grace has cancer and a chronic illness
not because she did something to cause it; It was just fate. I believe the title was just giving us a
hint of the main idea of the book. Category 1, #5 As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep:
slowly, and then all at once. Even before she admits it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Category 2, #3 If this book were to be found in the distant future, 3052 to be exact, I would think
that it was written for a more fantasy driven culture. If some random historians and sociologists
just randomly came by this book, first they d probably think what is a book, why was society so
messed up back then, and why were their books so amazing. One could conclude that their era
was one of literary prosperity. Most likely because of influences from previous eras of literature
and innovation increasing throughout time. Category 3, #1 I think that one of the characters that I
notices the most was Peter. He was the author of the book Imperial Affliction, which Hazel Grace
and Augustus Waters both read and found something in common. They both loved this story so
much that they went to Amsterdam where Peter lived and confronted him in order to find out the
untold ending. When they realize a few things about Peter (he is a total jerk, drunkard, and that he
didn t even write the end of his book) and his book, they just decide to forget him. But later on, at
the ending of the book when the tide turns and Augustus Waters washes away, Peter Van Houten
shows up and reveals his characters flaws happened because of his children s deaths. This made me
sit up and appreciate the making of this character, and the authors creativeness throughout the book.
I think the irony in this character is that many older people are like this but

G Metallireducens Research Paper
Kilometers underground, microbes live to tell the tale without oxygen or daylight via feeding on
metals such as iron and manganese. One of these simple microorganisms, Geobacter
metallireducens, comes with an uncommon survival tactic for a lifetime in the underworld: it
makes use of a sensor in order to sniff out metals. In case steel is not nearby, G. metallireducens
can spontaneously develop flagella whip like cellular propellers to discover new energy sources.
Metal inhaling microbes are furthermore beneficial sharers. Different Geobacter species can build
the network, allowing them to trade resources (Dalke, 2002).
When living cells make energy, they make electrons, and these must be dumped somewhere.
Humans breath air and use oxygen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If they run out of dissolved metals, they have a plan b. By looking at the genome sequence of
another metal eating microbe of the same genus, scientists have now discovered that G.
metallireducens contains genes for flagella. The flagella genes surprised the scientists who had
never seen G. metallireducens swim. Looking back, the researchers realized that in past motility
experiments the organism had only been grown on soluble metals. After performing experiments
with insoluble metals, such as iron oxide, the team found their plan B. that G. metallireducens
indeed develop a flagellum and swim around looking for any metallic, dissolved or solid.
Furthermore, in order to exchange their electrons to strong metals, they develop nanowires referred
to as pili. Quite simply, they re electric. Metal inhaling microbes are also beneficial sharers,
different Geobacter species can build a community, making it possible for them to trade resources.
For example, one might be able to consume the surrounding nutrients but have nowhere to dispose
of its electrons. In addition, the other might have nothing to eat, but the right wires to dispose of
electrons. Together, in a pili network pulsing with electricity, they work collectively to stay in
existence (Dalke,

Nuclearization in South Asia
Introduction South Asia is a volatile region. In particular, India and Pakistan have, since the end of
the Cold War, been widely regarded as the two countries most likely to become involved in a nuclear
war. The cultural, religious, and ideological tensions that underlie the state tostate antagonism are
very deep seated. The long and contested border, frequent armed conflict and mutual distrust result
in an inherently unstable situation between the two nuclear armed rivals. This study will
summarize the nuclear history of India and Pakistan, illustrate the dangers of instability, and
examine potential U.S. actions to enhance stability in this contentious region of significant security
interest. Historical Background For a thousand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After a one year long lull sparked by the rout of the temple militants, a fresh surge of terrorist
violence broke out with the assassination of moderate Sikh leader Sant Harchand Singh
Longowal shortly after he signed a so called peace accord with Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in
July 1985. Gandhi s mother and predecessor, Indira Gandhi, earlier fell victim to two Sikh
assassins from her own security guard in October 1984. However, since late 1985, the intensity
and frequency of terrorist attacks have risen sharply, with no end in sight to the ever growing spiral
of violence. The extremists have extended their terror campaign to many areas outside Punjab,
forcing authorities to constantly review and beef up security in a prime terrorist target New Delhi.
The extremists, armed with powerful, sophisticated guns, have often targeted government and
police officers and Hindu and moderate Sikh politicians; but, frequently, they have engaged in the
random mass killing of ordinary Hindu civilians. This year has witnessed a dramatic increase in the
number of attacks and fatalities. India has been troubled by sectarian violence for decades,
reflecting a constant conflict between its federal system and ethnic and regional aspirations. Ethnic
unrest and rebel violence have been major Indian security concerns since the Chinese aided Naga

Alienation In The Metamorphosis
At the beginning of Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis, Gregor becomes a giant beetle, loses his
abilities as a human, such as his ability to communicate and work. Gregor s transformation explores
the theme of alienation. Through the attitude of people around him and himself, Gregor shows he
is isolated from his body, his mind and his social relationships: he neither connects to society nor
his family. Through Gregor s tragic experience, Kafka is fighting against alienation. He also
criticizes the numbness and apathy in family relationship for creating hopelessness and loneliness.
The alienation of Gregor s own body makes him more like thinking than before. However, the
transformation brings him with loneliness and inner struggle. Once Gregor... Show more content on

The alienation between Gregor and his families enlarges. At the beginning, the mother is
worried about his son. But not long, when the mother goes into Gregor s room, she is scared,
screams a lot and hoarse voice (31). Grete Gregor s sister, shows the most caring and sympathy
to her brother. Grete takes care of her brother because she wants to show her ability as a family
member: she is an adult now and can make contributions to her family. She does not want to be
like Gregor; she wants to get admire from her parents, and get rid of becoming alienation. Gregor
thinks he remained intimate with his sister alone (28). He also thinks about his secret plan,
which is sending his sister to study at the Conservatorium(28). But Grete is the first one who
betrays her brother: We must get rid of it (35). Gregor and Grete are reflecting Jesus s and Judas
imagery. Judas betrayed Jesus for money, Grete betrayed Gregor for the approval from her
family. Gregor s father, a retired civil servant, always treats Gregor badly. He uses apples to hit
Gregor(31). One of the apple (stick) in his body as a visible reminder (32). The apple symbolizes
new knowledge in Genesis. And because of the apple, people lost their paradise. For Gregor, those
apples his father throws at him symbolize the impact that from different cultures and knowledge.

Objectivism and The Fountainhead Essay
Objectivism and The Fountainhead
How should we live our lives? Do you live for others or for yourself? What do you deem to be
the ideal: selflessness, or selfishness? Why? Ayn Rand s novel The Fountainhead addresses these
issues and her philosophy behind it called Objectivism. Her rebellious rhetoric is to convince us
that the only true virtue is selfishness and that we should abide by its standards and live for
ourselves.
Ayn Rand was from the Soviet Union, and her background helps us to understand her rhetoric about
why she preached her philosophy. Born in Russia, and a hater of the revolution, Ayn Randdreamed
of America as an Eden of individualism. When she got there becoming first a Cecil B de Mille

The Objectivist states that this is the only world we can know. It is irrelevant if there is a
heaven, or a hell, or life elsewhere. We know what we do through our senses and reason. What we
perceive with our senses we know to be real (Garmong). Existence exists and the act of grasping
that statement implies two corollary axioms: that something exists which one perceive and that one
exists possessing consciousness, consciousness being the faculty of perceiving that which exists
(Rand qtd. by Peikoff 1)
The second point addresses the idea that thinking is the path to knowledge. The Objectivist rejects
the idea, stated by Plato, that all we know is that we know nothing. Emotions, feelings, and
premonitions are not concrete and therefore are rejected as sources of knowledge. Concrete
evidence dictates certainty thus rationalizing knowledge (Garmong). The third point is the ethics of
Objectivism: rational selfishness and the pursuit of our own happiness. We are the beneficiaries of
our own actions, and we shouldn t let others dictate our lives (Garmong). Thought requires
selfishness, the fundamental selfishness of a rational faculty that places nothing above the integrity
of its own function. A man cannot think if he places something anything above his perception of
reality (Rand qtd. by Peikoff 5). Politically and

The county jail can and did house 1, 068 prisoners, maintaining 100 percent capacity. Since it is

Of the 412.2 Texas crimes per 100, 000 people, about 4.8 were homicide, 77.1 were rape, and 116.3
were robbery. Aggravated assault occurs about 429.5 per every 100, 000 people in Corpus Christi,
almost twice the Texas average of 246.6. Property crimes are also especially high in Corpus
Christi with 3, 450.7 per every 100, 000 while in Texas about 2, 831.3 occur. In Corpus Christi
for every 100, 000 residents, about 671.7 burglaries, 2, 624.5 larcenies, and 157.5 motor vehicle
thefts occur. Motor vehicle theft is the only index offense where Texas has a higher average; for
every 100, 000 residents, about 557.2 burglaries, 2, 028.5 larcenies, and 245.7 motor vehicle
thefts occur (Federal Bureau of Investigation, 2015). One of Corpus Christi s detrimental issues
is the drug and alcohol problem. In 2014, 783 people per every 100, 000 persons in Nueces County
were arrested for drug abuse violations and 421 for driving under the influence. Texas averages
were lower for both of these categories with 421 for drugs and 263 for driving under the influence.
A drastic difference between Nueces County s and Texas rates are seen in arrests for liquor laws
and drunkenness. About 141 per every 100, 000 people were in Nueces County for liquor laws, and
1, 186 people were arrested for drunkenness. Texas averages are less than half for both of these
arrest rates with 49 for liquor laws and 284 for drunkenness. The high use of drugs and alcohol

Feasibility And Feasibility Of Autonomous Cars
Feasibility of Autonomous cars in India
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), India has been declared as a country with
the highest number of accidents in the world. 430,654 people were killed in road traffic crashes
in India in 2010 according to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB 2010). This is attributable
partly to an increase in the number of vehicles on the road, and partly to the absence of a
coordinated official policy to control the problem. These numbers translate into 1 road accident
every minute and 1 road accident death every four minutes. Given this scenario, I was wondering
ways of limiting road accidents thereby loss of precious human lives, less crimes on violations,
etc. What struck me on pondering this topic for some time was feasibility of using autonomous
cars on Indian roads. While surely it could bring down number of road accidents and loss of
human lives, roadmap of introducing these types of vehicles needs to be clearly drawn. Feasibility
study around how to handle practical glitches like slow moving traffic, traffic rules, punishable
offences, responsibility vehicle operators and manufacturers would be keen. Availability of
electrical energy for operating these vehicles (which is already deficient in supply), operational
approach to measure success of this mode of transport, policy changes required at Central
Government and different State Governments and more importantly timelines by which all related

Therefore, a current solution would unite the characteristics of the hydrogen internal combustion
engine, using for improving the burning efficiency, due to high flame speed and higher calorific
value during combustion of hydrogen. One of the best utilization alternatives of this clean energy,
existing in the hydrogen, would be through the process of electrolysis of water as it is a relatively
simple process without generated solid, liquid or gas waste which would be harmful to the
environment. Furthermore it helps in the reducing of the consumption of fossil fuels. According to
Al Rousan (2010), the HHO gas produced in the electrolytic reactor, can be injected into internal
combustion engines, along with the original fuel engine improves engine efficiency and
consequently reduces power consumption of the fossil fuel.

Cost of hardware: The relative cost of software versus hardware has changed substantially over
the last 50 years. When mainframes were expensive and required large support staffs, the few
organizations buying them also had the resources to fund large, expensive custom software
engineering projects. Computers are now much more numerous and much more powerful, which
has several effects on software. The larger market can support large projects to create commercial
off the shelf software, as done by companies such as Microsoft. The cheap machines allow each
programmer to have a terminal capable of fairly rapid compilation. The programs in question can
use techniques such as garbage collection, which make them easier and faster for the programmer
to write. On the other hand, many fewer organizations are interested in employing programmers for
large custom software projects, instead using commercial off the shelf software as much as possible.
The Pioneering Era
The most important development was that new computers were coming out almost every year or
two, rendering existing ones obsolete. Software people had to rewrite all their programs to run on
these new machines. Programmers did not have computers on their desks and had to go to the
machine room . Jobs were run by signing up for machine time or by operational staff. Jobs were
run by putting punched cards for input into the machine s card reader and waiting for results to

Comparing News Networks In ABC, CNN, CBS, And Fox
The public get their news from networks such as ABC, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, and Fox.
One of the differences between all these networks is all of the networks get fairly amount of
viewers from which many of the most popular in the country like to go from right or left. CNN,
ABC, CBS, and NBC have audiences that lean left while the audience on fox lean toward
conservative. Another one is the if these networks are being truthful or if what their telling the
audience is fake. A poll by Rasmussen declared that CNN is the least trusted news network on
cable television (Tapson 1). The poll also showed that Fox news was trusted at fifty percent and
MSNBC was trusted by forty three percent (Tapson 1). One network will telling a viewer how a

Changes Continuities of Silk Road Essay
The Silk Road which started in 200 BCE and ended it in 1450 CE has its own changes and
continuities. Trade flourished between the Asian and Europe at the time and as time went on its
sole purpose of trading expanded to many other purposes and affect not only the area it contacted.
Although there were many continuities during the time but it has more significant changes that
occurred and also impact the world. One significant changes of the Silk Road is when it was first

Another continuities is the geography of the silk road. The silk road is consist of many route,

you d probably not like it. In my own opinion I believe that this movie is run on its own
characterization as it IS about stereotypes at school. I d like to start on describing my personal
favourite character of the movie, John Bender (Played by Judd Nelson). John Bender is a
stereotypical Criminal/Rebel complete with Denim Jacket, Leather Gloves and a Bandana. He
talks with confidence as he says what he pleases to either to annoy or anger others for his own
amusement and when he has to, stand up for what/who he believes in. Judd Nelson acted out the
character of John brilliantly as you can really imagine Judd in real life truly acting this way as he
has given such a realistic performance that is both entertaining and true. I believe that without the
character of John Bender, The Breakfast Club as a movie would really be missing that extra punch
that made it such a hit with all his funny comebacks and entertaining scenes lead by Bender. Claire

The Importance Of Social Identity
Some...memberships are more salient than others; and some may vary in salience in time and as a
function of a variety of social situations (Tajfel, 2 3) Salience of identity, in the way that we need
to understand it in the case of perception and decision making, can be operationalized as the
likelihood that a particular identitywill be invoked within a certain situation that the individual is
being faced with (Hogg, Terry, White, 257). As mentioned previously, everyone holds various
identities but salience is the process through which we subconsciously decide which we be used to
base our decision making or preferences on. The salience of a particular social identity for an
individual may vary from situation to situation and indeed from... Show more content on

In the courtroom, she is primed for her identity as a lawyer and at home she is primed for her
identity as a mother. Certain locations or experiences will prime us to be salient for one identity vs
another which demonstrates [the] sharp changes in social norms according to the situational
salience of people s different group memberships (Tajfel, 19). Through identity salience, we come to
understand another step in the effect that identity has upon preferences and decision making. There
are several studies which make the point indirectly by manipulating the cognitive salience of group
membership as their independent variable (Tajfel, 19). By directly priming an identity, can we alter
one s preferences compared to their instinctual preferences without said priming?
When considering salience of identity and its effect on individual preferences, we could conclude
that this phenomenon may be classified as a variation of transitivity. Transitivity is described as the
cornerstone of normative and descriptive decision theories because it underlies measurement
models of sensation and value and is a necessary condition for the existence of a utility scale
(Tversky, 31). If we were to create a utility scale for each identity that an individual holds each
scale would reflect the preferences of the primed identity, placing the same items at different places
upon the scale. Observed inconsistencies

The Diary Of Anne Rodway And The Speckled Band
Detective fiction is filled a wide array of characters and plotlines that can be analyzed for cultural
significance and meaning within the literature. I chose to analyze The Diary of Anne Rodway and
The Speckled Band because they were two very different styled stories in their narration, character
development, and plot deliveries. Although they were had various dissimilar aspects, both
portrayed women in a light that put them in an inferior position to men. I wanted to know why
classical detective stories endorse the vision of women being more emotional and having far less
intelligence than men in their abilities to solve a mysterious crime. I became interested in this topic
once we started reading the different texts in class and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kayman describes the literature of female detectives in regards to their relationships, falling in
love, and their ability to gain the trust of others rather than solving crimes through knowledge.
This is evident as he says, Rather than the intellectual, it is, then, the actress whose presence one
most feels in stories of lady detectives during the period: the figure who, with her capacity for
disguise, pretense and deceit, embodies both the cultural stereotype of the promiscuous,
mendacious, and hysterical woman (Kayman 52). While women are viewed with the finesse and
the discrete ability to gain the confidence of others, Kayman never mentioned the success of
women detectives nor their capabilities to solve crimes like the male detectives. He talked far
more in depth on Sherlock Holmes and his unquestioned intellect showing the distinct
discrepancy between the two gender portrayals. Kaymen uses Holmes as an example when he
says, the ideal detective required not only the power of observation and that of deduction but also
knowledge , and the pieces of obscure information with which he is constantly surprising us are
often as decisive as any supposedly deductive rigour (50). The discrepancy seen between the two
genders in Kayman s short story was a very influential aspect of my thinking on this matter because
he shows that the women of this literary genre were not seen in the same respect as

Silas Loss Of Faith Essay
But you may prosper, for all that: there is no just God that governs the earth righteously, but a God

Silas struggle, as well as creating a slightly empathizing tone, and a mood of injustice and slight

The Issue Of A Great Amount Of Money $ 4 Million
Introduction
I am a senior accountant working for Cape Tisbe International (CTI) and am writing this business
report concerning the issue of a great amount of money $4 million that has been paid to a PNG
government minister as Consulting Fees recently. In this report, I would like to identify the fact ,
the issues needed to be tackled, and then discuss the possible consequences derived from those
issues, subsequently I will offer some plausible solutions in tackling this issue in a long run
development. .
Facts
A year ago, CTI signed a contract for farm machinery, worth $25 million, with Papua New
Guinea(PNG). Recently, however, when I was conducting the annual internal audit, I have
discovered some issues associated with this signed contract. As soon as I found something wrong
with the contract s accounting records I communicated with George but his answer has not
addressed my confusion. Soon after that I had a chat with my boss Gareth because it was my
duty to identify and reveal any detailed information related to CTI s financial records. after the
conversation with both of them, I decided to dig it further. Now I discover that the actual sale
revenue of the contract was $21 million as around $4 million has been paid to a PNG government
minister as Consulting Fees .
I understand that the payment was paid to a certain person in order to secure the contract and

The Military And Its Structure, Order And Discipline Of...
The military is known for its structure, order and discipline of the Servicemen and Servicewoman,
but mostly for its great leadership throughout the ranks. The military is structured by the ranking
system. In the Navy, the Service member s level of authority and responsibilities is based on his
or her rate. There are the entry level rates Seaman Recruit, Seaman Apprentice and Seaman; Petty
Officer Third Class, Petty Officer Second Class and Petty Officer First Class. Lastly, there are the
senior level rates Chief Petty Officer, Senior Chief Petty Officer and Master Chief Petty Officer.
Sailors in the rates Seaman Recruit (SR), Seaman Apprentice (SA) and Seaman (SN) are in the pay
grades Enlisted 1 through Enlisted 3 (E 1 through E 3). Sailors in these rates, or paygrades, are not
typically placed in leadership roles. A few expectations of Sailors in these rates are for them to
employ basic knowledge and skills on a daily basis and to progress into productive leaders in today
s Navy. They are also expected to obey all orders of personnel appointed over them. However, one
of the greatest expectations of Sailors in these ranks, is for them to develop and exhibit decent
followership skills.
Due to the competiveness and the number of vacant spots, the requirement for a Sailor to
advance to the rates of Petty Officer Third Class (PO3), Petty Officer Second Class (PO2) and Petty
Officer First Class (PO1) or pay grade Enlisted 4 through Enlisted 6 (E 4 through E 6), they

Examinig the Effect of Human Population Control Essay...
Introduction
As of today s date, the United States Census Bureau estimated the world s population to be an
astounding number of 7.151 billion, at around a growth rate of roughly 81 million annually, or
1.2% per year. On the other hand, nearly 600 years ago, the population was around 300 million
(according to the CIA). Ever since improvements in agricultural productivity and medical advances,
population growth has risen drastically over the years. However, when studies proved that it could
possibly lead to detrimental scenarios like environmental degradation and poverty, some countries
began to establish population control policies. Population control is defined as a policy of

Technological advancement in fertility treatment grants couples the ability to have a much more

Unfortunately, overpopulation causes drastic and detrimental effects on our planet. They include:
shortage of resources (water supply, food supply)
social problems (War and conflicts, population density e.g.)
species endangerment (Destruction of habitats, species extinction e.g.)
These complications take place because there is an addition of nearly 1 billion people on Earth
every 12 years. These issues will only grow if there s no solution.
Global Perspectives Part 2
India launched its own national family planning program in 1951, which also became the world s
first governmental population stabilization program. Up until now, it is estimated to have
prevented 168 million births. In the early 1970s, the Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi
implemented a program regarding forced sterilization on men with two or more children. But
when it got too far, such as when single and poor men were subjected to the program, or when a
few states stated it was compulsory in order for people to receive new housing or other
government benefits, it was hugely criticized and ended as a failure.
Nevertheless, India still faces another dilemma: Abortion. The sex ratio of boys to girls (babies) is
1.12/1. In many parts of India (like many other Asian countries), having daughters are not preferred;

Roe Vs Wade Summary
Roe vs. Wade In the case of Roe vs. Wade, Jane Roe, whose real name is Norma McCorvey was
at the time a single pregnant woman who challenged the Constitution of Texas s abortion laws.
The laws made it a crime to obtain or attempt an abortion except for medical reasons like to save
the life of the mother. Roe claimed rights to privacy. In 1971, the case was then sent to be argues
in the supreme court. In 1972, it was argued again. The case involved the rights of privacy that
were implied by the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th, and 14th amendments(Roe v Wade Case Brief
Summary, 2008). Wade argued the state has a right to protect prenatal life. He argued that life is
created at the moment of contraception. The unborn are people and are entitled to protection
under the Constitution of Texas. The Texas law is a legal exercise of police powers reserved by
the state in order to protect the health and safety of citizens, not excluding unborn children. The law
is constitutional and should be upheld. In Wade s argument the issue being appealed would be that

Chemical Imbalances In The Brain
Depression is more than the normal ups and downs; it is a serious illness that can affect anybody,
at any age. Depression affects teenagers and even adults in many ways. Everyone experiences
unhappiness and sadness occasionally. When the depressing feelings start to take over everyday life
without a recent loss or trauma and cause physical and mental deterioration, they become what is
known as depression. About 5% of adolescents in the general population suffer from depression. It
is the world s number one psychological disorder. Some research has indicated that chemical
imbalances in the brain cause depression. Scientists think that a lack in serotonin may cause the
sleep problems, irritability, and anxiety associated with depression.
Depression is being seen in more children and teenagers. It strikes as many as 2.5 % of children
and 8.3 % of teenagers in the United States today. The recent research published in Pediatrics
examined psychosocial issues in thousands of children ranging from ages 4 to 15. Low grade
depression or dysthymia can begin during childhood or teenage years. While full blown
depression most often starts in middle adulthood. Within five years of experiencing major

Human Variables of Change Implementation Based on the results of the Employee Survey,
Climate Survey combined with the input of the CrysTel executive team the decision is to
implement a Plan Do Check Act (PDCA) change model. Though there are no specific rules
associated with the model, it does focus on a never ending cycle of transformation just as
organizations or groups have cycles of growth, stagnation and productivity. This cycle of
transformation is an iterative process that requires planning, testing, checking and acting on a

in this situation it is understandable. Also students with low income can not afford money to
attend college and online courses are a good start for those individuals. However there are
people who can financially afford for college, but prefer to take online classes, which would not
give them the real life experience and the interaction between each other. Beside that online
courses do not give a person to person interaction, there is also more work assigned to do then
what a traditional classes gives. And responsibility tend to be higher as well, because no one will

Why were the Habsburgs unable to consolidate their power...
The seventeenth century was undeniably a period of great division, war and turmoil for Hungary.
After the events of the previous century, Hungary remained divided into three distinct areas. The
largest was Ottoman Hungary, under the direct control of Constantinople, which encompassed the
south and south east of Hungary. Second, there was the Eastern Hungarian Kingdom founded by
JГЎnos ZГЎpolyai in 1526, who after the defeat of the Hungarian forces at the First Battle of
MohГЎcs sought the support of Sultan Suleiman I to be crowned King of Hungary by a rival
faction of the nobility and became the Sultan s vassal. After 1571, with the coronation of IstvГЎn

Due to Louis being connected to the Habsburgs through his own marriage and that of his sister
Anne, the Habsburg Archduke of Austria Ferdinand I was elected King of Bohemia. He moved to
secure his title as King of Hungary and was crowned King by a minority group of nobles on
December 16th 1526. However, he was not uncontested. JГЎnos ZГЎpolyai was also elected King
by the majority of the nobility on November 11th. In order to cement his rule, ZГЎpolyai was
encouraged by a Polish noble and the French ambassador to Poland to enter an agreement with the
Ottoman Sultan. As a result, Suleiman I supported ZГЎpolyai and had him become his vassal.
Suleiman then moved to expand further into Hungary and marched west, reaching Vienna in 1529.
After the siege, heavy snowfall forced the Ottomans to retreat on October 14th, while Ferdinand
secured the western province of Hungary. It was this division which remained the status quo until
our period being studied, due to the exhaustion of the Ottoman machine of expansion. The result
was the split of Hungary by the seventeenth century into the Habsburg controlled Royal Hungary in
the west, the rival Principality of Transylvania in the east and the Ottoman controlled lands of the
south and centre. This made sure that the Habsburg could consolidate power in Hungary while it
was so divided. It should next be argued that a substantial factor in the restrictions

Propagand Like A Good Neighbor
Like A Good Neighbor Our society has used different forms of advertisements, commercials, and
propaganda since even before the 20th century. Propaganda is described to be information that is
usually misleading or uninformed, that tends to be used to promote political views or to persuade a
consumer into buying a sellers product. According to Ann McClintock, propagandais the systematic
effort to influence peoples opinions, to win them over to a certain view or side. Overtime with the
advancements of technology, forms of propaganda and advertisements have changed, but the end
result has always been the same, as well as the goal to get the consumer to buy the goods. There are
many propaganda techniques that advertisers use. Name Calling, Glittering Generalities, Transfer,
Testimonial, Plain Folks, Card Stacking, and Bandwagon are the seven propaganda techniques.
Companies use these techniques to persuade people to buy their products and to trust the company.
For example, in the commercial from the insurancecompany State Farm, the commercial starts off
with the husbandon the phone with Jake, who is a representative from State Farm, and the
husbands wife walking in at three in the morning astounded and concerned as to why he would
ever be talking to anyone on the phone that late at night. The clock on the wall is very visible

Pros of using violent imagery and language
It brings out the real meaning of the message he intends to pass across to the employees of Nokia
company. For example, when he says that the platform is burning while referring to Nokia, this
simply notifies the employees that unless they take the necessary actions to prevent Nokia from
collapsing, the company may not stand. There are many mistakes committed in the company which
must be arrested to prevent further damage.
The violent imagery awakens everyone to think outside the box immediately.
Cons of using violent imagery and language
The violent imagery may cause panic among the workers. Some of the employees can give up on
the company since it is already burning. The resulting demotivation can lead to further detrimental
effects than intended corrective steps.
Personally, I feel motivated when violent imagery and language is used in the memo. This approach
is unlikely to backfire because the facts are speaking loudly. First, the once leading Nokia company
has lost most of its customer base. Additionally, the management has been reluctant to provide
direction in the company. Additionally, the employees can also testify that Nokia has become
inferior compared to other competing brands on the market. Some of the employees in Nokia
company may be using the competitors brands at the time the memo was written. Therefore, the

There is a lot of misconception about drug legalization. Uncertainty towards this concept is
usually because of stigma surrounding drug use or confusing legalization with decriminalization.
Decriminalising an illegal drug means taking away penalties for possessing that drug but leaving
its distribution in the hands of criminals who can continue to contaminate the drug any way they
see fit. Legalization by contrast brings narcotics entirely under government control. That means
that when a drug is legalized, the government is the one in charge of regulating the sales,
content, and distribution of the drug. The most universally effective example of a government
deciding to legalize a dangerous substance, which in its unregulated state was killing over a
thousand people a year, happened when the United States decided to legalize alcohol. Before it
was legalized, alcohol in the Prohibition era was laced with poison and the alcohol content of a

why the 1974 baseball season is so important. During the 1974 season, baseball made history and
many of ways. The most memorable person was Hank Aaron, Aaron broke Babe Ruth s total

Plato once stated that Justice was about minding your own business and keep from meddling in
the business of other men and in relation to the four major virtues of civilization, this could be
interpreted in several different ways. Plato was one of the greatest philosophers of our history, and
he had a theory that every civilization was built on four underpinning virtues that are Wisdom,
Courage, Moderation, and Justice. While many may disagree that the Classical Greeks followed
these four virtues, it was clear that in a sense, they did.
However, it wasn t enough to consider them just, and thus, they did not create Plato s ideal
civilization. To begin, the Athenians are not entirely just. While they may have been just in the
eyes of man, in the eyes of woman and slave, they were not. In the article, The Paradox of
Democracy and Imperialism in 5th Century Athens it reads, The idea of universal human rights
would have been alien to the Athenians, who saw no need to grant women, slaves, and Metics equal
rights to those enjoyed by citizens. (Chua 3). This statement proves that only the Athenian men had
a sense of justice in the context that only the men had any stake in the society. The woman in
Athens were hidden in their husband s house meant only to take care of children and perform
household chores, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were the brawn of the civilization and a crucial part of the economy as they handled most of
the labor, the only exception being citizens in extreme poverty ( Greek Slavery 1). There were very
few slaves that did end up with privileges but the majority of slaves were locked in servitude their
entire life. Not only did they have to live through working themselves to the bone, female slaves
could do nothing against the advances of their male owners at the risk of death. This shows that
slaves were seen as nothing more than working class peasants that were easily replaceable after their

Paul Fisher Character Analysis
This realistic fiction novel, by Edward Bloor, describes the problems and relationships that Paul
discovers when unlocking the meaning of truth, no matter the obstacles people put up to block him
from it. The motif of sight , is what introduces Paul to the universal statement of truth and makes
him aware of what the people surrounding him can and cannot see . Paul Fisher, the main
character, uses the motif of sight to have a new understanding of his friends, family, and himself.
To begin, the move from Texas to Tangerine Florida introduces new friends into Paul s life, which
tags along clarity, confidence, and brotherhood. For example, the team soccer captain for Tangerine
Jr. High, Victor, told Paul after a victory game against the Palmetto... Show more content on

When on the other hand, lies depict an unconfidential way to protect the truth from doing
unnecessary harm. People lie because they don t see the truth as necessary, don t want to hurt
anyone, or to help gain love and respect from others. However, this is over powered with the
importance of coming into reality because one cannot live in a fantasy created by others meant to
shield them from the resentful truth, and of finally seeing. All in all, the author s imagery at the
end leaves the reader thinking about the liberation that comes from hope and a fresh start. Lastly,
does a lie really protect a loved one from hurt and pain, or is the truth always

Project Management Body Of Knowledge Guide
Square Enix Co., Ltd has been a striving company in the gaming industry especially in the
financial year of 2014/15 bringing home a net income of 9.8 trillion yens (US$80 million)
(Watanabe, 2015), one of the best results since 2008. However, according to CSRHub (2015),
Square Enix has been rated in the bottom 2 percentile for Corporate Social ResponsibilityRankings,
fairing lower than competitors. This has raised an alarm amongst the stakeholders and executives as
environmental and sustainabilityissues were left out in the 2015 annual report (SQUARE ENIX
HOLDINGS CO., LTD., 2015). Figure 1: Square Enix Year on Year net income (SQUARE ENIX
HOLDINGS CO., LTD., 2015)
Hence in this report, an in depth look towards environmental sustainability would be made,
examples of what competitors have done to address this issue and how assumed company Square
Enix could adopt good practices into ongoing future projects. The Project Management Body of
Knowledge Guide (PMBOKВ®) fifth edition (Project Management Insititute, 2013) will be used as
the foundation of the findings.
The author has since suggested Suare Enix to adapt the ISO 14000 certification and establish the
Customer Social Responsibility assurance with the transparency report launched, tracking carbon
footprint and emission among other key performance. Project managers are also advised to take
steps in adapting several sustainability in different process of the project life cycle in Chapter 4:
Recommendations.

In September 2016, our class was asked by Elizabeth Smith to collate a report describing the
different types of participation to the Individual and community.
Procedure
Research was carried out by visiting Irvine Community Sports Club, interviewing members of the
public and exploring various online sources.
Findings
There are compelling benefits to carrying out regular exercise to an individual, such as weight loss,
increased strength, physical as well as mental health improvements, confidence and social aspects.
Similarly, the benefits to the community are also noteworthy, including improving community
spirit, reduction of NHS costings and greater infrastructure.
Benefits to the individual
The NHS states adults require at least one hundred and fifty minutes of moderate aerobic activity
or seventy five minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week .
The main result of exercise which people are looking for is weight loss. If we exercise and burn

Interstitial Nephritis
A child with abrupt onset of acute kidney injury with a fever, rash, and a urinalysis with abnormal
urinary sediment should be highly suspected of having acute interstitial nephritis (AIN). In 75% of
cases, AIN is a drug induced hypersensitivity reaction. It is characterized by the classic triad of
fever, rash, and arthralgia, with acute renal dysfunction resulting from the infiltration and activity of
inflammatory cells when the drug/antigen is exposed to the interstitium of the kidney. Medications
commonly associated with AIN include nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs),
antibiotics, diuretics, and proton pump inhibitors. Nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs are the
most common, the most studied, and possibly the most avoidable drugs that cause AIN induced
acute kidney injury. The mainstay of treatment of drug induced AIN is to discontinue treatment
with the offending drug as soon as possible and restore and/or maintain intravascular volume with
isotonic fluids to maintain renal perfusion. Once adequate renal perfusion has been accomplished,
close monitoring of fluid and electrolytebalance is of utmost importance.
Avoidance of other nephrotoxic drugs is equally important; therefore, the other 3 answer choices are
incorrect. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, starting treatment with penicillin at this time is not appropriate. Changes in urine and
frequency of urination could be due to acute poststreptococcal glomerulonephritis, but there is
typically a 1 to 2 week latent period between the onset of the throat infection and these changes.
Therefore, the timeline in the vignette does not fit. Treatment with penicillin should also be
avoided in this patient because penicillins are the second most common cause of drug induced AIN

  • 2. Well before I read this book, I actually did think about... Well before I read this book, I actually did think about what the title could mean and why the author wrote it so. Before I read this book I thought the book was about astronauts or something ridiculous. During the book I had some ideas that The Fault In Our Stars meant a mistake or something that predestined one s fate. I was kind of close. The title meant that the Fault is not always in the others, but in ourselves. For instance, Hazel Grace has cancer and a chronic illness not because she did something to cause it; It was just fate. I believe the title was just giving us a hint of the main idea of the book. Category 1, #5 As he read, I fell in love the way you fall asleep: slowly, and then all at once. Even before she admits it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Category 2, #3 If this book were to be found in the distant future, 3052 to be exact, I would think that it was written for a more fantasy driven culture. If some random historians and sociologists just randomly came by this book, first they d probably think what is a book, why was society so messed up back then, and why were their books so amazing. One could conclude that their era was one of literary prosperity. Most likely because of influences from previous eras of literature and innovation increasing throughout time. Category 3, #1 I think that one of the characters that I notices the most was Peter. He was the author of the book Imperial Affliction, which Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters both read and found something in common. They both loved this story so much that they went to Amsterdam where Peter lived and confronted him in order to find out the untold ending. When they realize a few things about Peter (he is a total jerk, drunkard, and that he didn t even write the end of his book) and his book, they just decide to forget him. But later on, at the ending of the book when the tide turns and Augustus Waters washes away, Peter Van Houten shows up and reveals his characters flaws happened because of his children s deaths. This made me sit up and appreciate the making of this character, and the authors creativeness throughout the book. I think the irony in this character is that many older people are like this but ... • 3. G Metallireducens Research Paper Kilometers underground, microbes live to tell the tale without oxygen or daylight via feeding on metals such as iron and manganese. One of these simple microorganisms, Geobacter metallireducens, comes with an uncommon survival tactic for a lifetime in the underworld: it makes use of a sensor in order to sniff out metals. In case steel is not nearby, G. metallireducens can spontaneously develop flagella whip like cellular propellers to discover new energy sources. Metal inhaling microbes are furthermore beneficial sharers. Different Geobacter species can build the network, allowing them to trade resources (Dalke, 2002). When living cells make energy, they make electrons, and these must be dumped somewhere. Humans breath air and use oxygen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If they run out of dissolved metals, they have a plan b. By looking at the genome sequence of another metal eating microbe of the same genus, scientists have now discovered that G. metallireducens contains genes for flagella. The flagella genes surprised the scientists who had never seen G. metallireducens swim. Looking back, the researchers realized that in past motility experiments the organism had only been grown on soluble metals. After performing experiments with insoluble metals, such as iron oxide, the team found their plan B. that G. metallireducens indeed develop a flagellum and swim around looking for any metallic, dissolved or solid. Furthermore, in order to exchange their electrons to strong metals, they develop nanowires referred to as pili. Quite simply, they re electric. Metal inhaling microbes are also beneficial sharers, different Geobacter species can build a community, making it possible for them to trade resources. For example, one might be able to consume the surrounding nutrients but have nowhere to dispose of its electrons. In addition, the other might have nothing to eat, but the right wires to dispose of electrons. • 4. Nuclearization in South Asia Introduction South Asia is a volatile region. In particular, India and Pakistan have, since the end of the Cold War, been widely regarded as the two countries most likely to become involved in a nuclear war. The cultural, religious, and ideological tensions that underlie the state tostate antagonism are very deep seated. The long and contested border, frequent armed conflict and mutual distrust result in an inherently unstable situation between the two nuclear armed rivals. This study will summarize the nuclear history of India and Pakistan, illustrate the dangers of instability, and examine potential U.S. actions to enhance stability in this contentious region of significant security interest. After a one year long lull sparked by the rout of the temple militants, a fresh surge of terrorist violence broke out with the assassination of moderate Sikh leader Sant Harchand Singh Longowal shortly after he signed a so called peace accord with Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in July 1985. Gandhi s mother and predecessor, Indira Gandhi, earlier fell victim to two Sikh assassins from her own security guard in October 1984. However, since late 1985, the intensity and frequency of terrorist attacks have risen sharply, with no end in sight to the ever growing spiral of violence. The extremists have extended their terror campaign to many areas outside Punjab, forcing authorities to constantly review and beef up security in a prime terrorist target New Delhi. The extremists, armed with powerful, sophisticated guns, have often targeted government and police officers and Hindu and moderate Sikh politicians; but, frequently, they have engaged in the random mass killing of ordinary Hindu civilians. This year has witnessed a dramatic increase in the number of attacks and fatalities. • 5. Alienation In The Metamorphosis At the beginning of Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis, Gregor becomes a giant beetle, loses his abilities as a human, such as his ability to communicate and work. Gregor s transformation explores the theme of alienation. Through the attitude of people around him and himself, Gregor shows he is isolated from his body, his mind and his social relationships: he neither connects to society nor his family. Through Gregor s tragic experience, Kafka is fighting against alienation. He also criticizes the numbness and apathy in family relationship for creating hopelessness and loneliness. The alienation of Gregor s own body makes him more like thinking than before. However, the transformation brings him with loneliness and inner struggle. Once Gregor... What do you deem to be the ideal: selflessness, or selfishness? Why? Ayn Rand s novel The Fountainhead addresses these issues and her philosophy behind it called Objectivism. Her rebellious rhetoric is to convince us that the only true virtue is selfishness and that we should abide by its standards and live for ourselves. Ayn Rand was from the Soviet Union, and her background helps us to understand her rhetoric about why she preached her philosophy. We know what we do through our senses and reason. What we perceive with our senses we know to be real (Garmong). Existence exists and the act of grasping that statement implies two corollary axioms: that something exists which one perceive and that one exists possessing consciousness, consciousness being the faculty of perceiving that which exists (Rand qtd. by Peikoff 1) The second point addresses the idea that thinking is the path to knowledge. The Objectivist rejects the idea, stated by Plato, that all we know is that we know nothing. Emotions, feelings, and premonitions are not concrete and therefore are rejected as sources of knowledge. Concrete evidence dictates certainty thus rationalizing knowledge (Garmong). The third point is the ethics of Objectivism: rational selfishness and the pursuit of our own happiness. We are the beneficiaries of our own actions, and we shouldn t let others dictate our lives (Garmong). Thought requires selfishness, the fundamental selfishness of a rational faculty that places nothing above the integrity of its own function. Feasibility And Feasibility Of Autonomous Cars Feasibility of Autonomous cars in India According to the World Health Organization (WHO), India has been declared as a country with the highest number of accidents in the world. 430,654 people were killed in road traffic crashes in India in 2010 according to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB 2010). This is attributable partly to an increase in the number of vehicles on the road, and partly to the absence of a coordinated official policy to control the problem. These numbers translate into 1 road accident every minute and 1 road accident death every four minutes. Given this scenario, I was wondering ways of limiting road accidents thereby loss of precious human lives, less crimes on violations, etc. What struck me on pondering this topic for some time was feasibility of using autonomous cars on Indian roads. While surely it could bring down number of road accidents and loss of human lives, roadmap of introducing these types of vehicles needs to be clearly drawn. Feasibility study around how to handle practical glitches like slow moving traffic, traffic rules, punishable offences, responsibility vehicle operators and manufacturers would be keen. When mainframes were expensive and required large support staffs, the few organizations buying them also had the resources to fund large, expensive custom software engineering projects. Computers are now much more numerous and much more powerful, which has several effects on software. The larger market can support large projects to create commercial off the shelf software, as done by companies such as Microsoft. The cheap machines allow each programmer to have a terminal capable of fairly rapid compilation. The programs in question can use techniques such as garbage collection, which make them easier and faster for the programmer to write. On the other hand, many fewer organizations are interested in employing programmers for large custom software projects, instead using commercial off the shelf software as much as possible. The Pioneering Era The most important development was that new computers were coming out almost every year or two, rendering existing ones obsolete. Software people had to rewrite all their programs to run on these new machines. Programmers did not have computers on their desks and had to go to the machine room . Jobs were run by signing up for machine time or by operational staff. Jobs were run by putting punched cards for input into the machine s card reader and waiting for results to come back on the

As mentioned previously, everyone holds various identities but salience is the process through which we subconsciously decide which we be used to base our decision making or preferences on. Certain locations or experiences will prime us to be salient for one identity vs another which demonstrates [the] sharp changes in social norms according to the situational salience of people s different group memberships (Tajfel, 19). Through identity salience, we come to understand another step in the effect that identity has upon preferences and decision making. There are several studies which make the point indirectly by manipulating the cognitive salience of group membership as their independent variable (Tajfel, 19). By directly priming an identity, can we alter one s preferences compared to their instinctual preferences without said priming? When considering salience of identity and its effect on individual preferences, we could conclude that this phenomenon may be classified as a variation of transitivity. Transitivity is described as the cornerstone of normative and descriptive decision theories because it underlies measurement models of sensation and value and is a necessary condition for the existence of a utility scale (Tversky, 31). If we were to create a utility scale for each identity that an individual holds each scale would reflect the preferences of the primed identity, placing the same items at different places upon the scale. Second, there was the Eastern Hungarian Kingdom founded by JГЎnos ZГЎpolyai in 1526, who after the defeat of the Hungarian forces at the First Battle of MohГЎcs sought the support of Sultan Suleiman I to be crowned King of Hungary by a rival faction of the nobility and became the Sultan s vassal. JГЎnos ZГЎpolyai was also elected King by the majority of the nobility on November 11th. In order to cement his rule, ZГЎpolyai was encouraged by a Polish noble and the French ambassador to Poland to enter an agreement with the Ottoman Sultan. As a result, Suleiman I supported ZГЎpolyai and had him become his vassal. Suleiman then moved to expand further into Hungary and marched west, reaching Vienna in 1529. After the siege, heavy snowfall forced the Ottomans to retreat on October 14th, while Ferdinand secured the western province of Hungary. It was this division which remained the status quo until our period being studied, due to the exhaustion of the Ottoman machine of expansion. The result was the split of Hungary by the seventeenth century into the Habsburg controlled Royal Hungary in the west, the rival Principality of Transylvania in the east and the Ottoman controlled lands of the south and centre. Propaganda is described to be information that is usually misleading or uninformed, that tends to be used to promote political views or to persuade a consumer into buying a sellers product. According to Ann McClintock, propagandais the systematic effort to influence peoples opinions, to win them over to a certain view or side. Overtime with the advancements of technology, forms of propaganda and advertisements have changed, but the end result has always been the same, as well as the goal to get the consumer to buy the goods. There are many propaganda techniques that advertisers use. Name Calling, Glittering Generalities, Transfer, Testimonial, Plain Folks, Card Stacking, and Bandwagon are the seven propaganda techniques. Companies use these techniques to persuade people to buy their products and to trust the company. For example, in the commercial from the insurancecompany State Farm, the commercial starts off with the husbandon the phone with Jake, who is a representative from State Farm, and the husbands wife walking in at three in the morning astounded and concerned as to why he would ever be talking to anyone on the phone that late at night. There are many mistakes committed in the company which must be arrested to prevent further damage. The violent imagery awakens everyone to think outside the box immediately. Cons of using violent imagery and language The violent imagery may cause panic among the workers. Some of the employees can give up on the company since it is already burning. The resulting demotivation can lead to further detrimental effects than intended corrective steps. Personally, I feel motivated when violent imagery and language is used in the memo. This approach is unlikely to backfire because the facts are speaking loudly. First, the once leading Nokia company has lost most of its customer base. Uncertainty towards this concept is usually because of stigma surrounding drug use or confusing legalization with decriminalization. Decriminalising an illegal drug means taking away penalties for possessing that drug but leaving its distribution in the hands of criminals who can continue to contaminate the drug any way they see fit. Legalization by contrast brings narcotics entirely under government control. That means that when a drug is legalized, the government is the one in charge of regulating the sales, content, and distribution of the drug. The most universally effective example of a government deciding to legalize a dangerous substance, which in its unregulated state was killing over a thousand people a year, happened when the United States decided to legalize alcohol. Before it was legalized, alcohol in the Prohibition era was laced with poison and the alcohol content of a drink varied dramatically (Ostroff).
