The extrahepatic biliary apparatus collects bile from the liver, stores it in the gallbladder, and transmits it to the duodenum. It consists of the right and left hepatic ducts, common hepatic duct, gallbladder, cystic duct, and bile duct. The right and left hepatic ducts emerge from the liver and join to form the common hepatic duct, which then joins with the cystic duct from the gallbladder to form the bile duct that transports bile to the duodenum.
