The issue of medical aliteracy has drawn both scholars and medical practitioners’ attention in the recent years. The negative cost of medical aliteracy has continued to constitute major threats to health related issue which has resulted in high mortality rate, high medical expenditure and medical underperformance among others. On this premise the study examined the influence of medical aliteracy among senior medical personnel. The study employed descriptive research design and Chi-Square to test the research hypotheses. A total number of 50 questionnaires were designed to collect information from the sampled population through a random sampling. From the result of the analysis it was revealed that factors such as ineffective supervision of medical personnel, low patient literacy level, lack of personnel-patients engagement could lead to medical aliteracy among senior medical personnel. Senior medical personnel have the knowledge of medical aliteracy and its implications on for medical personnel and the public. Medical aliteracy has an implication on health sector performance which includes increase in mortality rate, increase health expenditure, widening of the gap between patients – medical personnel communication among others. Perception of medical aliteracy has significant influence on medical personnel performance. The study concluded that, medical aliteracy is prevalent among medical personnel and patients and is associated with many poor medical outcomes in the health sector. It was however recommended that medical literacy training, schemes and programmes should be designed according to the needs of the different medical personnel and should therefore be included in medical professional training programs.

Patient Related Barriers Associated with Under Enrollment in Hospice: A ReviewQUESTJOURNAL
Background: Hospice care provides better quality of life compared with usual care, and focuses on caring, rather than curing. Many factors facing cancer patients at the last days of life prevent them from enrollment in hospice. Purpose:to identify the barriers associated with hospice under enrollment for terminally ill cancer patients. Methodology: an integrative literature review design was utilized, CINAHL, and PubMed were accessed by using key words (hospice, barriers, and cancer patients), and after applying inclusion criteria 8 articles were considered to meet the purpose of this review. Findings: through reviewing literatures,15% of hospice patients dis enrolled from hospice due to long-stay hospitalization, hospital death, & higher medicare expenditure with in sufficient insurance coverage (financial burden), and some other factors may contribute in under enrollment in hospice such as knowledge deficiency with misconception of hospice terminology and scope, mistrust of health care professionals, death timing, and some policies may create a barrier and restrict access to care for hospice. Conclusion:factors that may be associated with under enrollment of terminally ill cancer patients in hospice were lack of knowledge and misperception of hospice scope, emotional, physical and financial burden toward patient and family, death timing and bad quality of care

Abstract
Aim. To explore the challenges and caring activities of spouses of intensive care
unit survivors during the first year of patient recovery.
Background. Every year, millions of people globally are discharged from an
intensive care unit after critical illness to continue treatment, care and
rehabilitation in general hospital wards, rehabilitation facilities and at home.
Consequently, millions of spouses become informal caregivers. Little is known,
however, about the concrete challenges spouses face in post-intensive care unit
everyday life.
Design. Explorative, qualitative grounded theory study.
Methods. Participants were spouses of intensive care unit survivors. The study
was undertaken in Denmark in 2009–2010. Data consisted of 35 semi ...

Caring has been the cornerstone of nursing since the time of its
conception. It has been the legacy that each nurse has been instilled
to all those they have interactions with. Many nursing experts have
looked into caring as a science of nursing. It has been well studied
by many nursing experts. All of these prove that nurses’ best asset
is to make others feel that they are ‘cared for’. However, very few
have stated that behaviors that nurses possess [1].

A Brief Review on Health Implication of Skipping Breakfast with Emphasis on Weight Gain in Adults by Elizabeth MJS* in Crimson publishers: Journal of Physical Medicine
Regular eating of breakfast contributes to the nutritional health of an individual. Some people skipped breakfast because of the desire to lose weight. An individual that consumed breakfast regularly is more likely to exhibit high level of physical activity and cardio-respiratory fitness. This short review aims to examine health implication of skipping breakfast with emphasis on weight gain in adults. Skipping breakfast is a wrong step in weight loss management as several available literature links irregular consumptions of breakfast to weight gain. Skipping breakfast over an extended period has a negative effect on cardiometabolic risk profile. It increases the risk of developing metabolic syndrome that increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes mellitus development. Consumption of breakfast regularly has been found to be an alternative means of weight management. Future research is needed to examine eating and time of breakfast as well as types of breakfast adults’ in developing countries consumed in relation to their body mass index.

Identifying Significant Antipsychotic-Related Side Effects in Patients on a Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Unit-A Feasibility Study of The Glasgow Antipsychotic Side-Effect Scale (GASS) by Ahmed Saeed Yahya* in crimson publishers: Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Antipsychotic side-effects are common and are an important determinant of non-adherence and consequent relapse. Most rating scales for the identification of these are lengthy and complicated. This report reviews the medical literature on the Glasgow antipsychotic side-effect scale (GASS)-a brief and validated rating scale to measure the unwanted effects of antipsychotics. We administered the GASS to fourteen in-patients in a United Kingdom-based Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Unit. The objective was to establish the utility of the GASS in this setting and to make recommendations on how this tool could be used in clinical practice to improve adherence to antipsychotic medication.

Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.
