2. Arctic Monkeys
There is only one image
throughout this whole
digipak and it’s a mid shot of
the whole band. The way
band has been positioned is
so that they are slightly
turning their bodies and
faces away from the
camera, creating the effect
that they are posing for
another photograph
elsewhere. They are all in
the same outfit which is a
white shirt and black tie, this
links in with the theme of
everything being in black
and white.
The theme of the whole digipak
is quite simple and doesn’t
really have a lot going on in
terms of colour and detail, but
the way the colours and images
have been used are effective
and represent the band the way
they want to be seen as a
brand.
The way the black and white
image of the sound wave has
been used for both the front
cover and the actual CD image
could show how they are more
focused on the actual music
inside rather than having a
really detailed digipak with lots
going on with the colour and
images
3. Lana Del Rey
The front cover of the album is an
image of the artist in what is made
to look like a garden or outside at
least, which is the theme of the
whole magazine really with the
colours and the roses being on the
CD. It helps Lana as a brand to
have her face on the cover so
when they think or listen to the
album this is what they see. There
is a constant colour scheme
running throughout the digipak
which is red and white. You can
even see this in the front cover as
the name of the album ‘born to die’
and her lipstick both are shades of
red that is later used on other
covers.
As I mentioned before when
talking about the theme, there
seems to be an ‘outdoor’ theme
as you can see the CD is
designed to have three roses on
it that links in with the front
cover. On this we see Lana
pictured out doors with the sky in
the background, this gives off
quite a calm and peaceful
impression visually.
The text to image ratio is about 50/50,
this is because the front cover is
dedicated to the image of the artist and
has a small amount of text which is just
the album name and her actual name.
Then the back cover which is the list of
songs on the album is taken up with just
text and no images, which is then made
up for with the couple of roses that have
been included on the CD itself.
