This is a report of a young man who worked on a cotton mill from the age of thirteen in 1832. It
shows how dangerous and hard it is while working on the mills. The man being interviewed
explains how the children being born from factory workers are much smaller and the children not
being born to parents who are factory workers. Primary source document fourteen addresses the
changes in child labor during the Industrial Revolution. The same parliament that addresses the
conditions of the factory workers addressed the child labor issues in the factories. The numbers
matched up from those of the previous primary source document. It shows the changes made for
children working in factories. From the primary source, a majority of the workers were between
ages eleven through twenty six. It states that in 1833 the legislation limited the hours for children
to work in Britain. Children ages thirteen and under were reduced to nine hours per day and

The book My Antonia carried many themes throughout the book, along with many different ideas.

previously recorded. The validity of van t Hoff s Law was also tested by using different solutes in
which to test the potatoes. This was done by measuring potato core weight before and after soaking
them in solutions of different dissociations, and determining the percent weight change. Then van
t Hoff s Law was used to calculate the water potential of the potatoes. The water potential of the
potatoes soaked in sodium chloride was 5.67, glucose was 5.92, and sucrose was 5.66. These results
do not agree with van t Hoff s Law.
