Gender And Gender Socialisation
Socialisation is a term used to refer to the lifelong process of inheriting and disseminating norms,
customs and ideologies providing the individual with the skills and habits necessary for precipitating
within one s society, thus the means by which social and cultural continuity are attained
(Boundless.com, 2015). The process of socialisation involves an individual such as an adolescent
having interactions with various agents of socialisation. Agents of socialisation are groups or
institutions that play a crucial role in providing an individual with social and cultural skills in
accordance with the social norms and standards of the society one is located in (Brian Furze, 2014).
Socialisation contains two concepts, Primary and Secondary socialisation. Primary socialisation is a
concept that involves usually a family s influence over an individual during childhood; this process
supports one to attain essential skills necessary to function in society as a child (Brian Furze, 2014).
Secondary socialisation is a process that occurs after childhood and involves interactions with
agencies other than family such as; schools peer groups, media etc... (Brian Furze, 2014). Gender
socialisation is the process of how individuals are socialised into behaviours of the ascribed sex at
birth and is the process of socialising into gender roles (Giddens, 1993). Gender Identity involves an
individual s perception of his or hers gender which usually correlates with ascribed status such as

Religious Hypocrisy In Frederick Douglass
Since before the time of Jesus Christ, religious hypocrisy has run rampant throughout those who held
power. Countless lives have been affected by others twisting religious interpretation in order to fit
their own needs. Slaveholders used religion and scripture to their advantage when disciplining slaves,
sometimes even if they did no wrong. Religious hypocrisy is especially relevant in the life of
Frederick Douglass. Frederick Douglass s life story depicts how religious hypocrisy committed by
both slaves and slaveholders diminished the rights of slaves, while at the same time allowing injustice
to endure. Throughout Douglass s life, he had masters who practiced religion quite extensively.
Although these masters were extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads to a major issue within the slave community. Slaves possess little knowledge of life outside
the plantation or house in which they are working at. This means they have no idea how humans are
supposed to be treated, and rather that a god would never allow for another to be beaten in such
severity. This is an advantage that the slave owners held over the actual slaves. If the slaves were to
gain an understanding of the world around them, the religious quotes recited by slave owners would
quickly lose their worth and soon mean nothing as well as hold no influence over the slaves. Frederick
Douglas was fortunate enough to understand this, and even addressed the issue in his life story, What I
have said respecting and against religion, I mean strictly to apply to the slaveholding religion of this
land, and with no possible reference to Christianity proper; for, between the Christianity of this land,
and the Christianity of Christ, I recognize the widest possible difference so wide, that to receive the
one as good, pure, and holy is of necessity to reject the other as bad, corrupt, and wicked(71). Douglas
understands that the Christianity practiced by the slave owners was far different from the Christianity
intended by Jesus Christ. As Douglas referred to it, the Slaveholding religion was prominent
throughout the slavery era, not only was this damaging for the slaves,

Archbishop Clune Case Study
In December 1921 the Archbishop of Perth, Archbishop Clune, took over the administration of the
Geraldton diocese on the death of Bishop Kelly, Father Hawes long time supporter and friend. Already
familiar with Father Hawes architecture through his presence at the opening of the Cathedral of St
Francis Xavier Cathedral in 1918, Archbishop Clune initially asked Father Hawes to draw up designs
to extend and enlarge the existing small Perth Cathedral. Father Hawes set about this task
enthusiastically and submitted a folio of plans to Archbishop Clune in July 1922.
Archbishop Clune, meanwhile, was under pressure from some of his clergy and an influential Perth
architect, Michael Cavanagh, to build a completely new cathedral using Donnybrook stone. The
Archbishop, nervous that the funds to build a new cathedral could not be raised, instructed Father
Hawes to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further correspondence between him and the Archbishop led to Father Hawes developing plans for a
completely new cathedral in a Gothic style, which seems out of character with his architectural design
beliefs of simplicity, originality and truthfulness to materials.
He completed the designs for the new Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in early 1923. In May
he travelled through France and Spain making a study of Romanesque cathedrals and, while in Rome
in June, showed the design of the Cathedral and his sketch of his proposed new church at Mullewa to
Pope Pius XI, who blessed the work. Father Hawes completed his final design for Cathedral of the
Immaculate Conception in August.
In early October, the new Bishop of Geraldton, Bishop Richard Ryan, arrived in Perth and dined with
Archbishop Clune on his way to Geraldton. On being shown Father Hawes design for the new Perth
Cathedral, Bishop Ryan suggested it looked more like a Salvation Army

It is an honor for me to lead Pfizer at this important time for both our company and the industry. I ve

of the most important has been the increasing pressure from payers, governments and society to
deliver greater value. That s why I believe there is a fundamental question facing the industry and

The Schoolboys Versus The Island
When your life is on the line and you are threatened, some of you human instincts will take over. In
the next couple paragraphs you will see how the boys on the island express their survival skills against
nature, deal with their surroundings and how it reflects their character, and how they evolve and adapt
to their isolated world. But maybe most of all just being a little lucky and being the most fit for the
environment. When it comes down to it, you will do whatever necessary to survive.
When you are in the wild, you do whatever you can to survive. It is all about survival of the fittest.

Jack displays the side of man in which humanity takes over and violently destroys nature. He blends
in with his environment by putting clay on his face, He rubbed the charcoal stick between the patches
of red and white on his face (Golding 63). This demonstrates that he has outsmarted the island. Jack
also scorches the forest near the end of the book, Behind him, the whole island was shuddering with
flame (Golding 201). This incident reflects his deepening contempt for nature and demonstrate his
violent character. Jack also resides on Castle Rock, the highest point on the island. Jack living above
everything else symbolizes that he is omnipotent. Simon manifests the part of man that is at one with
the world. Simon refuses to eat the meat of the pig Jack killed, Simon, sitting between the twins and
Piggy, wiped his mouth and shoved his piece of meat over the rocks to Piggy, who grabbed it (Golding
74). This explains that he refuses to harm the forest s animals, unlike Jack, who only wants to murder
them. He also retreats to the forest, where he does most of his thinking and finds comfort, I ll go if you
like. I don t mind, honestly (Golding 117). This expresses that he enjoys the wooded area of the island
and finds solitude and harmony with his environment. Ralph exemplifies the area of man that submits
to the island. He understands that nature is an

King County Emergency Medical Systems Essay
Emergency medical services is the process of treating patients, transporting them to the hospital, and
providing immediate care according to the patient s condition. Without Emergency Medical Services
(EMS), some patients may not survive the trip to the hospital. Thus, the most important motivator for
establishing emergency medical services systems was to reduce losses of life by providing treatment
from specialized medical providers during transportation to the hospital. There have been many
concerns about the effectiveness of operation and the procedures of the emergency medical systems in
providing care to patients. Accordingly, King County Emergency Medical Services of Washington
state have taken great care to develop a system that improves the patient s outcome through providing
immediate medical care.
The emergency care system works under the Seattle Fire Department and operates with emergency
departments at local hospitals, dispatch centers, and private ambulance providers, as well as the fire
departments ( About the EMS Division, 2016). The system consists of many providers who are
working as a team to provide the necessary treatment in both life threatening and non urgent
situations. Providing the best quality care to their residents is a policy.

Essay about Narrative Styles In Poe, Melville, Hawthorne
narrative styles in Melville s Bartleby, Poe s Arthur Gordon Pym, and Hawthorne s The House of
Seven Gables. How all three authors utilize a conversational tone for the function of their work.
In works by three of the most classically American authors of the nineteenth century, Melville, Poe,
and Hawthorne, a trait that can be considered common to all three authors is pronounced clearly as a
means to their narration. This trait is that of deploying a narrative laden with and moreover led by
conversational phrasing and asides. The flow of passages in these authors works, Bartleby, Arthur
Gordon Pym, and The House of Seven Gables, takes on a spoken structure, and numerous operations

This feature is then emphasized when the narrator, having finished his resume of Nippers and Turkey,

In The House of Seven Gables Nathaniel Hawthorne utilizes the conversational approach perhaps the
most overtly of any of the three authors, at times situating the narration in the first person plural,
which thereby has the effect of drawing an assumed commonality between the reader and the party of
the narrator. Indeed his use of we is scattered through the entire book, as in the passage (pg. 139): We

But it is too fruitful a subject, this of hereditary resemblances, the frequent recurrence of which, in a

Puritan so, at least, says chimney corner tradition, which so often preserves traits of character with

resembled him, the further progress of our narrative may show.

Communism In Russia
Communism is a system of social organisation which formerly consumed almost a third of countries
in the entire world, having originated in Russia. The first official communist state was founded during
the Russian revolutions in 1917, due to the inaugural communist political party Bolsheviks gaining
primal power. Afterwards, the influence of communism spread to other countries with the likes of
Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and East Germany to name a few. These countries that were governed on
communist principles were known as the Eastern Bloc . Even countries in Asia were persuaded into
the theoretically human equality system such as China, Laos and Vietnam. Communism was gathering
strength to strength every year in the mid 20th century, but eventually its impact was wiped off in the
late 20th century when the Berlin War was knocked down in 1989, ending the barrier between the
Eastern and Western blocs. Communism arguably was the most influential social experiment in
history, but also the most flawed and its failure to change the world permanently will always remain
significant in history.
The word communism originated from commun , a French term meaning belonging to all . Before the
actual foundation of communist parties and countries, there were people who had desired the theory of
shared ownership and equal wealth among society for centuries. The earliest notable people to endorse
this theoretical societal system included Greek philosopher Plato and religious leader

Genesis Allegory
The Bible in the Christian religion is used as a guide and answer book to any concerns that one might
have. With one concern having in mind about whether evolution happened or not, perhaps Genesis has
a hidden message about this topic. In the beginning of chapter two of Genesis, it starts by God
creating the first man and woman and placing them in the garden of Eden. God told Adam and Eve
that they can eat from any tree and plant they want, but except the fruits from the tree of knowledge.
At some time, a snake described as the most intelligent of all the wild animals appeared and told Eve
that probably the reason why the Lord didn t allowed anyone to eat the fruits because they will see
clearly and.. will be like God, knowing good and evil (Genesis 3). Eve, thinking the tree of knowledge
will provide her wisdom, eats the fruit as well her husband Adam. As a result, humanity till now
suffers the consequences of Adam and Eve as same with the snake, it was known as an intelligent
animal to a cursed one. This allegory in Genesis warns humanity about too much knowledge . For
example, the snake was known as the most intelligent creature, but yet it was the cause of the downfall
of Adam and Eve. Eve disobeyed God and took a bite of the fruit from the tree of knowledge, because
she wanted to be like God and obtain the understatement of life. ... Show more content on

The Effects Of Anxiety On Athletic Performance
Abstract
The following articles will examine the relationship, if any of anxiety on athletic performance. The
first study published by (Robazza, Pellizzari, Bertollo, and Hanin, (2008) discusses the impact of
emotions on athletic performance utilizing the Individual Zones of Optimal Functioning (IZOF)
model. Since this area of study is generally focused around this model, a majority of this paper will be
based off of this article. The following articles are similar, but incorporate biofeedback,
neurofeedback, and heart rate variability into their research. The major research question that will be
addressed is the relationship between anxiety and athletic performance. The purpose of this literary
review was to analyze the mentally demanding aspect of athletic performance to assist in helping them
achieve their optimal performance. The following articles will assess this relationship in both a
cognitive behavioral perspective as well as a psychoanalytic perspective.

Richard does not give Buckingham the reward that he was promised. This makes Buckingham angry
so he brings an army to kill Richard but a storm disperses the troops. Buckingham aand Richard need

According to the U.S. Department of Energy , In 1990, California s wind power plants offset the
emission of more than 2.5 billion pounds of carbon dioxide, and 15 million pounds of other pollutants
that would have otherwise been produced (Wind). However, there are concerns about the noise that is
produced from the blades, and the fact that birds, or other small flying animals can fly into the blades
and die. Another small issue with wind power is that it is often available only in remote or offshore
locations. As a whole, these concerns are minimal compared to the benefits that can be reaped.
Biomass is another great resource for producing electricity. Biomass is a matter usually thought of as
garbage (Energy). It includes wood chips, crops, tires, dead trees, manure and much more. When
garbage decomposes, it gives off methane gas (Energy). Pipelines are put into the landfills and the
methane gas can be collected. It is then used in power plants to make electricity (Energy).
An additional use of biomass is to produce ethanol. Ethanol can be used in special types of cars that
are made for using alcohol fuel instead of gasoline. The alcohol can also be combined with gasoline.
This reduces our dependence on oil a non renewable fossil fuel (Energy). Biomass is a renewable
resource, because trees and plants can be replanted over and over, and used to produce fuel. Biomass
fuels are used to meet the energy needs of nearly half the

Frankenstein Fear Of Science Essay
Some readers have seen the novel as an illustration of the fear of the power of science. To what extent
do you agree with this view of the novel?
Frankenstein shows a contrast between the supernatural and the scientific and highlights that there are
elements of science which we should fear. This attitude reflected that of many at the time of writing,
as science began to gain credibility and was used more frequently, and Shelley shows this in her novel
through supernatural imagery and language, characterisation and setting. However, the novel can also
be seen not to fear science itself, but the way in which it is manipulated, again shown through the
characterisation of Frankenstein and his professors.
Shelley explores the power of science ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most obvious example of this is Frankenstein s own character. He is seen to be very arrogant,
immature, obsessive and melodramatic, especially in the earlier chapters of the book, an example of
which is when he describes that he was left to struggle with a child s blindness when it came to
studying science. This attitude best shows Frankenstein as someone who is not likely to own up to
their errors, such as later on, when the Creature has murdered William and Justine is punished for the
crime although Frankenstein internally realises that it is his fault. This links cleverly in to the idea that
it is not science itself that is frightening, but those who manipulate it. Frankenstein can also be seen as
a cautionary tale, although perhaps not directed towards science, but again, towards the person who is
using science to inform their behaviour and their studies. It is always very clear in the novel that it is
Frankenstein s own doing that has led to the catastrophe of the monster, as, even if Shelley is trying to
suggest that science itself is the evil in the text, it impossible to overlook the fact that it is
Frankenstein himself who has brought the Creature in to being. There is also another debate of nature
or nurture in the text which could

Real World Vs Crucible
The Crucible Compared to the Real World Piers Anthony once said, When one person makes an
accusation, check to make sure that he himself is not the guilty one. Sometimes it is those whose case
is weak who make the most clamour. Everybody has been accused of doing something that they have
not at some point in their life. Being blamed for something that one was not responsible for happens
during adulthood just as much as it does during childhood. False accusations are not uncommon in

One of the most prevalent cases of false accusation is a woman arraigning a man for rape. Biurny
Peguero s case is a perfect example. A woman named Biurny Peguero decided to frame a man named
William McCaffery, who was a construction worker at the time. Peguero told law enforcement that she
was sexually assaulted by three men, only mentioning McCaffery. She utilized the bite marks on her
body that she received from a night out with her girl friends to claim that McCaffery caused them.
After the night out, she asked the three men to give her a ride back to her friends. McCaffery and the
other two men did just that, without touching her. She received the bite marks from her friends,
because when she returned to her friends, all of them broke out in a ridiculous brawl. Edicio Martinez
of CBS News wrote that, But upon the returning of her friends the argument that began in the
Umbrella Lounge escalated into a full fledged fight. The women punched and bit at each other and
when she asked why she was so upset and if those boys raped you, she simply agreed, to try and
explain her behavior (Martinez). Peguero was intoxicated at the time, but if she wasn t meaning to be

Analyzing Psychological Disorders: Understanding Schizophrenia and Biopsychological Case Studies
of Anxiety and Drug Abuse
Let us discuss and dive into the study of a disease called schizophrenia. We will be taking a look at its
symptoms, its causes, the areas of the brain it affects, its neural basis, and the appropriate drug
therapies for the disease. Having an informed understanding of the disease and what it entails is
crucial to making sure patients that suffer from schizophrenia receive the proper treatment and care
from their psychiatrists. Afterwards, we will also be looking at a couple of case studies involving
anxiety and drug abuse. As for now, our focus will be on the terrible disease of schizophrenia.
PART A:
We shall begin with a bit of its history, as well as what schizophrenia actually consists of. The word
schizophrenia is less than one hundred years old, and means the splitting of psychic functions. It
affects only about one percent of the world s population, however those it does affect are comprised of
all races and cultures, and socio economic factors have no effect on who developments schizophrenia.
It typically has an onset of late adolescence to early adulthood. BOOK CHAPTER 18, P.467 If a
person reaches the age of thirty without being diagnosed with schizophrenia, that person has

Evolution Lab Report
Introduction The reason for doing this lab is to study evolution using small population of finches on
two different islands. I used different charts and graphs to find limitations on natural selection. Then
find the effect evolution will have on beak and population over a certain time period. Using three
different assignments I have to develop different hypothesis comparing and contrasting the average
beak size and population size changing rain fall, beak sizes, population and island size on Darwin s
and Wallace experiments. Method I used 3 different assignments: 1, 2, and 4. Assignments 1: I
developed a hypothesis to predict that the island with the finches with the larger beak will be able to
adapt more rapidly to their surrounding and handle the hard seeds of their island verses the island with
the finches with the smaller beaks. I left the primary beak size on Darwin ... Show more content on

50 cm/year and the rainfall on Darwin Island to the minimum possible value (0 cm/year). Run the
simulation for 300 years. Then find the average in the beak size and population. Which values came to
be 126.2 for Darwin and 475.3 for Wallace. Assignment 4: I developed a hypothesis to predict what
effect an increase in island size will have on beak size and finch populations. I tested my hypothesis
by leaving all other parameters at their default values. Selected the Island Size input and use the
sliders to increase the size of either. Then I tested the effect of the parameters to influence population
size and beak size by designing and running experiments to get my

The Causes Of The American Revolution
The American Revolution was a battle that was fought between countries across the globe. Many
countries were involved in this fight. Spain, France, Mysore, Holland, and the United States fought
against Great Britain. There were multiple factors that lead to this Revolution. Beginning with the
United States in 1764 the American Sugar Act and Stamp Act was having restrictions placed on it
from England s Congress. Then, in 1774 Parliament was passing laws and placing taxes upon the
colonists which they did not agree with. Relationships between Holland and England had deteriorated
due to disagreements with the Dutch trading with rebels. England got a secret treaty and used it to
declare war on the Netherlands. During this time Holland and ... Show more content on

Patriots. Patriots were also known as the Revolutionaries. The Patriots or the Revolutionaries were
fighting against Britain and the crown for power of their own. They did not want to be under Britain s
reign nor let Britain have say so over anything they done. To intimidate the Loyalists, the Patriots did
terrible things. One of the few things that the Loyalists had to go through was tar and feathering . Tar
and feathering was the process where people are stripped naked, drenched in tar, then covered in
feathers. Whilst covered in this disgusting mixture they are to parade around town while being
mocked then having the feathers plucked off their naked bodies. Another way Loyalists were tortured
was not necessarily physically but they often had property seized and were under personal attacks
constantly. Personally, I feel for them because I know living through this must have been hell. On the
same token, they possibly should have considered remaining faithful to their country by moving back
rather than staying here to get harassed and killed. As for the remaining slaves owned by Loyalists

The Role Of Cultural Diversity On The Identity Of The...
No matter where people come from they all have a different story or a background that makes them
unique from others. Everyone is raised differently, giving them characteristics that make them who
they are. Culture plays a major role in defining and shaping the identity of the person that you have

individual backgrounds in which it sets everyone apart. Every culture has their own morals and values
that they believe in for instance the way how they see education as and the things that they believe is

Write what you love
You have probably noticed that you don t tend to let yourself be distracted from things that you enjoy

When writer Rachel Aaron was experimenting to find out what conditions made her most productive,
she realized that she wrote most on the days on which she worked on the scenes she d been dying to

CREATE CANDY BAR SCENES
Candy bar scenes have nothing to do with eating a Snickers or a Hershey s Bar. These are your
favorite scenes that you re just itching to write since you first had the idea for the book. For a romance

DON T WRITE FOR THE MARKET
There are trends in publishing just as there are in fashion. For example, after the success of The
Hunger Games, dystopian fiction became a trend; Twilight made paranormal romances with vampires
popular, and after Fifty Shades of Grey topped the bestseller charts, sales of erotic romances
skyrocketed.
It might be tempting to some writers to chase these trends and write a book in a genre or about a topic
that is hot right now. There are several problems with that:
First, the market changes constantly. It s hard to predict what genre will become the next publishing
trend and how long that trend is going to last. By the time you have written your book, the market
might be saturated and agents and readers are tired of

from my grandma s.
Christine was born and raised in the country just outside of Bonfield, Illinois. It s a very small town
about 60 miles south of Chicago, Illinois. She had two brothers and two sisters, all of whom were all

By choosing to marry someone you are marrying into another family. My grandma and I had similar
views on who family consisted of and how we would define it. When I asked her if her views on who
family consisted of has changed over time she answered with, No, I don t think my views on family
have changed overtime. I think my thoughts on family are similar with the same concept of that family
consists of the people you are blood related too as well as the people you marry and then later your
children if you choose to have them. The Women s Lives Multicultural Perspective book brings up the
idea of the ideal nuclear family. According to Kirk and Rey (2010), the ideal nuclear family consists of
a hetereosexual couple, married for life, with two or three children. The father is the provider while
the wife/mother spends her days running the home (pg. 309). When I asked my grandmother if she
believed in this concept when she was younger she said yes and answered with a more detailed
response which included this. My husband worked long hours as well as raised cattle and farmed. We
helped each other when necessary, but generally stuck to traditional roles of me being the
housekeeper, cook, etc.... and him being the main breadwinner. I feel like many families today don t
actually fit under the ideal nuclear family. Many women are now the ones who fulfill the role of
primary breadwinner or are equal in their jobs working as hard as the men to maintain their family and
help bring in an income. Additionally, many families have more than two children or nowadays it is
becoming more socially acceptable to marry the same gender. (QOUTE ABOUT LESBIAN OR GAY

The Importance Of Having A Car On Students
Being a freshman at Regis is not easy, due to are already at a disadvantage of not having your car on
campus; thus, a reliable source of transportation is a losing battle. Although we have a shuttle that
brings us to and from Riverside and the Natick Mall the scheduled times are not beneficial. Regis
should have the shuttle be more accessible to students more frequently. As a freshman who is not
allowed to have a car on campus I find it inconvenient that the shuttle to the Natick Mall comes every
three to five hours.
A major aspect of a college education is students learning independence and freedom; therefore
creating a schedule at the students disposal will allow them to learn that independence and gain that
freedom.

As stated, Framingham State has shuttles that stop at multiple locations, which allows students to
explore their surrounding community. Besides going to Natick Mall and Riverside Train Station, the
Regis shuttle should include AMC Theater, Shopper s World, and Target. Many would argue that
AMC Theater is very close in distance to the Natick Mall, and may ask why the passengers of the
shuttle cannot walk to the theater? An intersection similar to the one behind the mall can get busy and
is very dangerous at night if one is not careful. Adding Shopper s World being added as a destination
shuttle s route would be beneficial to the students taking it because there are so many stores in the
shopping area. Therefore, it would limit the amount of time and money a student will spend on going
to multiple stores via uber or public transportation. Another location that the shuttle should go to is
Target; target is a store that every college student should have at their disposal, since it is a store that
has everything a college student uses in their daily lives. Another flaw in Regis transportation system
is that the shuttle does not come to and from Regis frequent enough. Although Framingham State has
a bigger population, their shuttle comes frequent enough to support all of its students. The
inconvenient times our Regis shuttle is available is at times where it is difficult for students to enjoy a

Segregated Education, By Jonathan Kozol
Segregated Education
It has become common today to dismiss the lack of education coming from impoverished schools.
Jonathan Kozol an award winning social injustice writer, trying to bring to light how our school
system genuinely ponders their students. In his essay Still Separate, Still UNEQUAL, Kozol visits
many public high schools as well as elementary schools across the country, realizing the outrageous
truth about segregating in our public education system. Kozol, cross examining children describing
their feelings as being put away where no one desires your presence. Children feeling diminished for
being a minority; attending a school that does not take into consideration at the least the child s well
being. Showing clear signs of segregation in the education system. Diane Ravitch a research professor
of education at New York University, spoke about an interesting truth, saying, The achievement gaps
are rooted in social, political, and economic structures. If we are unwilling to change the root cause,
we are unlikely ever to close the gaps. The success of our children s education is mainly caused by
economic, social and political statue. If one does not end the cycle the gap will most likely never
close. This ties in with when Kozol cites Marina Warner, an essayist and novelist, saying, There are
expensive children and there are cheap children, just as there are expensive women and cheap women.

Pros And Cons Of Single Sex Schools
Single sex schools are common within the fait schools and some schools who believe there association
within their faith would work out better within a diverse atmosphere. Some believe that having single
sex schools is a good idea because then boys would feel more concentrated with their school work
instead of trying to impress or compete for the girls. Parents also believe that boys would participate
more and be focus with their education if girls were not in the same class as them. As a result, single
sex schools should be banned to give children the opportunity to gain a better education and
interacting with the opposite sex. Teaching boys and girls in separate classrooms it s an old approach
in which has recently gained momentum. The reason being is some debate on the fact that it reduces
boys and girls opportunities to work together, and reinforces sex stereotypes while others believe that
single sex schooling results in better academic outcomes. Although there has been multiple case
studies to find some common ground or to see which one is more beneficial or affective the results
fluctuates.
According to Dr. Michael Gurian, Leonardo Sax and others believed that boys and girls should be
taught differently and be parted from the same sex when gaining their education. Do to their research
and the books they have published many schools have in fact already started separating the children in
the classrooms. Dr.Sax, one of the believers was in fact the Executive director of the National
Association of Single Sex Public Education. He was criticize for his judgment of boys precipitating
information effortlessly, having more energy than the girls in a classroom while the girls are in need of
a special touch and being unable to retain information as thoroughly as the boys. In the mid 1900 s
there was only 2 Single sex public school, today there are more than 500 public schools in which are
scattered all over 40 states whom offer single sex academic classes or even entirely single sex classes
Dr. Halpern thought otherwise, she once said that while girls are better readers and get better grades,
boys are more likely to have more complications and end up having reading disabilities, but it does
not mean that

Any Kind Checks and HDC Status Essay

MBA 610 Q2285
January 4, 2015
6 3: Short Paper Any Kind Checks and HDC Status
Several factors come into play when considering the fairness of the court s ruling in this case. We have
to look at whether Any Kind Checks Cashed acted reasonably in accepting a negotiable item from the
payee. We also have to consider why the payee used the services of a check cashing establishment in
the course of conducting his business. Also, it is important to review the provisions that should be met
when an entity tries to assert a protection as a holder in due course. Was Any Kind Checks an HDC in
this case? This depends on what responsibility they had in accepting the negotiable instrument from

Any Kind Checks did not have prior notice of the check being dishonored by Mr. Talcott when
Guarino attempted to cash it. However, because of its value, they show that they had reason to contact
the maker for approval. It is also reasonable for Any Kind to take Mr. Guarino s actions as suspect. As
is pointed out in the brief, why would a small business owner, particularly one who is a broker of
investments, utilize a check cashing business for this transaction rather than a traditional financial
institution? This question in and of itself should give cause for concern to Any Kind considering their
policy that any check over $2,000 requires approval. A revision to Article 3 of the UCC added a
provision for not only honesty in fact, but also for the observance of reasonable commercial standards
of fair dealing. Because a reasonable party could reasonably consider Guarino s actions as suspect,
and outside of the commercial standards of fair dealing, the burden of proof is significantly higher in
showing good faith and fairness toward all parties (including the maker of the instrument).
We have another example in this situation to look at when analyzing if Any Kind took such care in this
case. When attempting to cash the second check, Any Kind felt it was necessary to speak with the
Maker prior to taking action. Any Kind would not cash the check for Guarino without speaking with
Mr. Talcott. Once they received approval from Talcott, and were not advised of any action

The Use Of Intrauterine Devices ( Iud )
The use of intrauterine devices (IUD) by women is commonplace. Worldwide, IUDs are the most used
method of contraception, used by almost one fourth of all female contraceptive users. The typical
indication for IUDs is as a method of long acting reversible contraception. Intrauterine devices are
effective, safe, easy to insert and relatively inexpensive (Dean Goldberg, 2016). Therefore, in treating
women of childbearing years, the Nurse Practitioner will educate this patient population about the
risks and benefits of the IUD, as well as the risks and expected side effects. The NP can provide a
group of questions to the patient and mate to determine the appropriate choice of contraception. (See
table 1).
Prior to the consideration of the insertion of an IUD, the patient must have a negative pregnancy test,
and no active cervical, vaginal or bladder infections. The patient cannot have an untreated abnormal
PAP smear, active liver disease, breast cancer or an compromised immune system. Intrauterine devices
(IUD) are constructed from plastic in the United States (US). Worldwide, however, steel is also used.
Currently, the categories of IUDs in the US are: copper releasing, progesterone releasing or inert.
Except for the unmedicated type, the IUDs release either copper or progesterone in order to potentiate
the effectiveness of the intrauterine device. There are four types of IUDs available in the United
States. The copper IUD is named ParaGuard and is approved by the FDA for

The Behavioral Perspective Of Human Development
Human development is a process that occurs throughout the lifespan, and lifespan development
theories offer frameworks for which to understand human growth. Different approaches focus on
specific aspects of human life to determine which has the most significant influence on development.
However, one theory usually does not account for all variables of human growth so more than one
perspective may be used to analyze development. Two such perspectives, the behavioral and the
contextual, explain development in different ways. The behavioral perspective focuses on observable
behavior, while the contextual perspective focuses on interrelated systems that influence development.
When applied to the case study in the index, the differences in the behavioral and contextual theories
become evident.
The Behavioral Perspective
The behavioral perspective of development suggests that human development can be understood by
observing how people behave in response to environmental stimuli. This theory denies distinct
universal stages in development and insists that environmental factors influence how a person will
change and adapt in their society. From this perspective, people will have positive developmental
experiences if they grow up in a nurturing environment. B.F. Skinner introduced the operant
conditioning theory which asserts that children develop in response to reinforcement or punishment
(Feldman Landry, 2014, p. 15). Reinforcement increases the likelihood of someone

The River Stinchar and its tributaries, the ferly burn and the Dalquairne burn show patterns which
follow the Bradshaw Model to a large extent. The typical upper course of a river is narrow in width,
shallow in depth and slow in velocity. The load size is very large and therefore, less of it. The bank
gradients are steep and the discharge levels are low. All these features gradually change as the river
flows downstream. This is shown in figure 2 The location chosen for study is The River Stinchar and
its tributaries which are located in South Ayrshire and flow south west from the Galloway Forest Park
and were chosen due to a previous visit to the area. The location can be seen in figure 1. There is a

The Pro Football Hall Of Fame And The Year Of His Death
Abstract
The subjectively informative written speech was given in 1970 right before his induction into the Pro
Football Hall of Fame and the year of his death. This speech applies to multiple areas professional,
sports and personal, because of the principles of winning and success throughout it. Mr. Lombardi
could never have imagined the impact that this speech would have on the world over 25 years later.
This speech has been played for countless people over these years to motivate companies, teams, and
individuals into reaching the only place to be in when everything is done first place. His use of
repetition, allusion and smooth transition makes this speech easy to follow and ensures that the point
of giving your all to reach first place is driven home. But I firmly believe that in any man s finest hour
his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good
cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle victorious.

How Does Fitzgerald Use Seasons In The Great Gatsby
The time of seasons may corresponds to those numerous situations one may face in their life.
Literature utilizes the surroundings of a character to foreshadow events or to represent a deeper

setting causes the characters to react to the effects in the novel directly corresponds toward the major
situations. In The Great Gatsby, Fitzgerald utilizes the change of seasons for the audience can have a

reality is like? Russell Brand went through all of it: it started with his childhood and his school years
to going through rehab than getting big. Russell has a hard time changing his ways but it s often the
thought of others that helps him make these changes; he wants to set a good example and hope people
will also make good decisions. So Russell overcame his addictions to become a successful actor/
comedian.
In the beginning of Russell Brands childhood he went through many complications (The
Guardian.com). His parents split up when he was very young, his father walked out on Russell and his
mother and hasn t been back. He lived with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Russell finally agreed to get help (CBS Los Angeles.com). After realizing what he was doing to his
family and friends and he was also scared if he didn t quit now he never would and he could either end
up in jail or dead. At first he tried to fix himself by staying away from drugs as much as possible.
When he found out that Amy Winehouse had died from drugs it made a great impact on Russell (CBS
Los Angeles.com). Amy was a great inspiration to Russell, he was also good friends with her and
never wanted to see her this way. He regrets letting his addiction get so bad for he feels like there
could have been some kind of way he could have saved or helped Amy (CBS Los Angeles.com). He
claims now that the drugs were never the problem, the problem was not knowing what reality was
like. He feels that he could never love someone with this problem. He could only think of how could
anyone love him (CBS Los Angeles.com). He had been threatened that if he could not change he
would be sent to prison for years at a time. He stopped doing drugs and drinking. He now calls people
on an AA list to talk about when he feels the urge to do drugs and drink and they help him get better
and keeps him from thinking about them (CBS Los Angeles.com). Alot of times he would hope they
wouldn t answer so he didn t have to think about how bad he had become. Russell started an
organization called Freehab so the people who

Australia, A Country Of Australia By John Bryson
Australia is a country of a very unique caliber. Beginning this book, I was not aware of much about
Australia. The things that is mostly displayed about the country is that they have kangaroos and very
large deserts. Bryson does a great job of describing the culture and events that can be enjoyed. He uses
his own experiences to inform the reader of the adventure and excitement that resides in the country.
Each trip that the author takes teaches about a new realm of Australia life. Bryson begins his novel by
explaining the development of the continent and its very abstract historic mold. Australia began as a
location that the British wanted to use to exile convicts in the late 1700 s. The continent was already
populated by the native people known as Aborigines. The colonization of Australia had a demoralizing
impact on the Aboriginal people. They had to withstand the dispossession of their land, illness and
death from European diseases and huge disturbance to their traditional lifestyles and distinct way of
social interaction. By the 1820s, many settlers and now freed convicts had turned land they received
from the government into flourishing farms. They began to move deeper into Aboriginal territories,
leaving little for the native to possess. With so many European and French settlers coming to the
country, while in search for agricultural benefits, gold was discovered in the southeastern boundaries
of the country in 1851. The lust for gold lured thousands more into the

The Drum Women At Valley Forge
The book Following the Drum Women at the Valley Forge Encampment gave a very good incite to not
just what it was like for the men at Valley Forge, but what it was like for the women who were there.
In the winter of 1777 8 at Valley Forge there were about one woman of every forty four men (Loane
133). I think book stressed that these women were incredibly helpful in the effort to rebuild this army
through the rough winter, no matter what their job were. Although Washington did not think much of
the women with the army; he once commanded every woman to leave camp, no matter what her
contribution or marital state. The General s unfavorable attitude toward the common camp women did
not extend to all women Valley Forge (4). To me it s interesting that General Washington said this
about the women there, because throughout the book I felt Washington enjoyed the presence of his
wife and the other troop s wives at the encampment. I feel like Americans typically perceive the story
of Valley Forge as a battle. Attacks never came from the British during the time the Continental Army
was at the encampment. They believe that tons of lives were lost there, when in reality, it was just a
place for them to make it through the winter. I think the book reinforces the perceptions of what
happened there since, There was between fifteen hundred and three thousand men that died at Valley
Forge, not from their wounds, but from disease (119). This statement reinforces the fact that no

Personal Narrative-I M Tasker
I lost count how many times I blinked, just to make sure I wasn t suffering from caffeine overdose, but
after what seemed forever, I finally closed my gaping mouth. No problem, take your time. Gliding
around to my desk would sound wonderful, wouldn t it? But no, I kicked the trash can and stumbled,
spilling coffee over the corner of my desk and my new Gucci shoes. Fu... Cursing like a fish wife
wasn t going to redeem my clumsiness so scuffling into my chair I decided to keep still until I had
recovered from the shock. Besides which, it gave me the opportunity to study the janitor while he
wasn t looking as he reached to the ceiling with the new light bulb. I couldn t help staring at his soft
belly flesh. Tanned and dusted with dark hairs that disappeared below the canvas work pants. I ve
never seen a janitor so... so fit. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I m Tasker, it s good to meet you. Likewise. I wasn t happy about giving him my sweaty palm but he
sort of threw me off balance. I didn t expect that. Elsa, my name s Elsa. Greeted with a beatific smile I
blushed and found myself daydreaming. Only Joe, my eager protégé, bursting through the door to
invade my territory brought me back to earth. Tasker didn t flinch and casually turned to gather his
step ladder before making for the door. His massive frame dwarfed Joe and time seemed to stand still
as he slowly left. A final glance over his shoulder from dark, dreamy eyes made me draw in a sharp
breath. We should get up to speed on the Dexter file. I ve been studying over the weekend and... I
raised my hand to still his waffling. Sit, take a load off. I pointed to the chair opposite my desk. I
couldn t deal with his overzealous manner right now; I was still catching my breath from the mystery
that was Tasker and nothing, not even the dulcet tones of his slightly high voice was going to spoil the
last few moments as the memory of fine ass filled my

Dna Profiling And The Criminal Justice System
In November of 1983, 15 year old Lynda Mann was found raped and murdered on a deserted road, and
although police were able to obtain a semen sample from her murderer the case remained unsolved. In
1986 the killer struck again murdering 15 year old Dawn Ashworth, once again leaving behind semen,
but this time the police were able to use DNA profiling to match the semen to a suspect. Colin
Pitchfork became the first person to be caught based on mass DNA screening, and the first to be
convicted based on DNA profiling. The use of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) in the criminal justice
system has greatly tipped the scales in favor of law enforcement, and changed the world that we live
in. Court cases that in the past relied heavily on eye witness testimony and circumstantial evidence
now have science to back them up. DNA analysis has revolutionized the criminal justice system, and
even though there are some flaws, the use of DNA evidence should continue to be used by law
enforcement. While DNA profiling is still considered to be fairly new , the analysis of the human
genetic variation began more than a century ago with the discovery of the human ABO blood group.
Karl Landsteiner realized that these variations in humans could be used to solve crimes. ABO could be
used to exclude suspects, but police needed something that could definitively point the finger at a
suspect. In 1984, Alec Jeffreys discovered hypervariable loci, also known as minisatellites. He
discovered that the

Observation In A Classroom
I observed that Saint Cloud High School s facilities were flawless, and the green areas were well kept,
it has modern and innovative technology that provide students with permanent opportunities for skill
preparation. I also detected that the security is, for instance, well intentioned to keep the students safe.
Surveillance cameras are installed throughout the building and the surrounding areas of the school.
The Mrs. Sanabria classroom was very organized and safe too. She used technology and classroom
physical resources cleverly because the way she fixed the classroom chairs that seemed appropriate
for her planned learning activities. One of the main advantages I noticed of having such chairs setting
is that she was able to address more often all her students. Consequently, the amount of interaction
between her and the learners was evenly distributed. From my point of view, the instructional setting
of this class was warm, open and tolerant. The overall setting of the classroom was pleasant and
productive. There were a good rapport and friendly balance between instructor and learners
interchange. Students participation was dynamic and enthusiastic. The pupils also seemed well
ordered, so the classroom rules must have been well founded. No discrimination or unfairness
prevailed at all. The students seemed to get along and respect one another. Mrs. Sanabria attitude
always looked confident, and she is continually looking at herself reflectively to assess situations and

History of Special Needs Ireland
History of Special Needs Provision In Ireland
Special needs provision in Ireland has evolved since the founding of the state in 1919. Until the early
1990s practically all education and care of children were carried out by the religious orders in Ireland.
The government therefore had little need for policies or legislation surrounding education and care.
Ireland established its education system in 1831 while under English rule. This made it mandatory for
children between the ages of six and fourteen to attend school. The Department of Education was
established in 1924. However, the government did not consider that the education of children with
special needs was necessary as their needs were seen as purely medical. It was considered more ...

However separate schools continued throughout the 70s and 80s.
In 1971 the primary curriculum was introduced. This led to most special schools and classes providing
a modified curriculum for their students. The Department of Education developed Curriculum
Guidelines for Schools for the Moderately Handicapped. One important principle of these guidelines
was that children have needs as children that have to be satisfied at school as well as their needs as
future adults.
The notion of integration began to appear in the mid eighties with the idea that special classes could
be part of mainstream schools and also from parents who were not availing of special education. In a
report on the training and education of severely and profound mentally handicapped children in
Ireland 1983 it was recognized that these children should also be entitled to education. Teachers were
to be trained to educate such children in special classes within mainstream education. By 1993 over
2000 pupils were being educated in such a way.
In 1993 the report of the Special Education Review Committee (SERC) was published. This report
dealt comprehensively with the educational implications of special needs. It provided a definition of
special needs which included those with severe and profound difficulties through to those who were
exceptionally able and included both physical and mental disabilities. It recognized that the desire of
the majority of parents of children with

Primitiveness And Savagery In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of...
In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness , Conrad uses the depictions of the natives as Marlow goes
down the river to portray how human nature is with different levels of power. He uses color imagery
to correlate the darkskin of the natives to the name of the continent the natives live on, the Dark
Continent . He portrays Africa, or the Dark Continent to be a place of primitiveness and savagery. The
nature of the natives are primitive and savage too. In the same way, he aides the superficial meanings
of his description with words that have negative connotations to further his depiction of the natives as
primitive and savage.
In the beginning when Marlow arrives at the Outer Station, Conrad uses the dead and dying natives to
represent what human nature should be and sometimes is on the outside. They were dying slowly it
was very clear. They were not enemies, they were not criminals, they were nothing earthly now
nothing but black shadows of disease and starvation, lying confusedly in the greenish gloom (Conrad
19). They lack power. Conrad intentionally portrays them as powerless because without power, they
aren t a threat. He relates this to the primal feelings of man. Given that the Outer Station is a
representation of how people should be on the surface, Conrad represents the natives as the inner
savages. The natives are dead and dying because the inner savage is dead or dying in society. We have
constructed a society in which the inner savages, aka the natives, have no

  • 2. Gender And Gender Socialisation Socialisation is a term used to refer to the lifelong process of inheriting and disseminating norms, customs and ideologies providing the individual with the skills and habits necessary for precipitating within one s society, thus the means by which social and cultural continuity are attained (Boundless.com, 2015). The process of socialisation involves an individual such as an adolescent having interactions with various agents of socialisation. Agents of socialisation are groups or institutions that play a crucial role in providing an individual with social and cultural skills in accordance with the social norms and standards of the society one is located in (Brian Furze, 2014). Socialisation contains two concepts, Primary and Secondary socialisation. Primary socialisation is a concept that involves usually a family s influence over an individual during childhood; this process supports one to attain essential skills necessary to function in society as a child (Brian Furze, 2014). Secondary socialisation is a process that occurs after childhood and involves interactions with agencies other than family such as; schools peer groups, media etc... (Brian Furze, 2014). Gender socialisation is the process of how individuals are socialised into behaviours of the ascribed sex at birth and is the process of socialising into gender roles (Giddens, 1993). • 3. Religious Hypocrisy In Frederick Douglass Since before the time of Jesus Christ, religious hypocrisy has run rampant throughout those who held power. Countless lives have been affected by others twisting religious interpretation in order to fit their own needs. Slaveholders used religion and scripture to their advantage when disciplining slaves, sometimes even if they did no wrong. Religious hypocrisy is especially relevant in the life of Frederick Douglass. Frederick Douglass s life story depicts how religious hypocrisy committed by both slaves and slaveholders diminished the rights of slaves, while at the same time allowing injustice to endure. Throughout Douglass s life, he had masters who practiced religion quite extensively. Although these masters were extremely ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This leads to a major issue within the slave community. Slaves possess little knowledge of life outside the plantation or house in which they are working at. This means they have no idea how humans are supposed to be treated, and rather that a god would never allow for another to be beaten in such severity. This is an advantage that the slave owners held over the actual slaves. If the slaves were to gain an understanding of the world around them, the religious quotes recited by slave owners would quickly lose their worth and soon mean nothing as well as hold no influence over the slaves. Frederick Douglas was fortunate enough to understand this, and even addressed the issue in his life story, What I have said respecting and against religion, I mean strictly to apply to the slaveholding religion of this land, and with no possible reference to Christianity proper; for, between the Christianity of this land, and the Christianity of Christ, I recognize the widest possible difference so wide, that to receive the one as good, pure, and holy is of necessity to reject the other as bad, corrupt, and wicked(71). Douglas understands that the Christianity practiced by the slave owners was far different from the Christianity intended by Jesus Christ. As Douglas referred to it, the Slaveholding religion was prominent throughout the slavery era, not only was this damaging for the slaves, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Archbishop Clune Case Study In December 1921 the Archbishop of Perth, Archbishop Clune, took over the administration of the Geraldton diocese on the death of Bishop Kelly, Father Hawes long time supporter and friend. Already familiar with Father Hawes architecture through his presence at the opening of the Cathedral of St Francis Xavier Cathedral in 1918, Archbishop Clune initially asked Father Hawes to draw up designs to extend and enlarge the existing small Perth Cathedral. Father Hawes set about this task enthusiastically and submitted a folio of plans to Archbishop Clune in July 1922. Archbishop Clune, meanwhile, was under pressure from some of his clergy and an influential Perth architect, Michael Cavanagh, to build a completely new cathedral using Donnybrook stone. Further correspondence between him and the Archbishop led to Father Hawes developing plans for a completely new cathedral in a Gothic style, which seems out of character with his architectural design beliefs of simplicity, originality and truthfulness to materials. In May he travelled through France and Spain making a study of Romanesque cathedrals and, while in Rome in June, showed the design of the Cathedral and his sketch of his proposed new church at Mullewa to Pope Pius XI, who blessed the work. Father Hawes completed his final design for Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in August. • 11. Communism In Russia Communism is a system of social organisation which formerly consumed almost a third of countries in the entire world, having originated in Russia. The first official communist state was founded during the Russian revolutions in 1917, due to the inaugural communist political party Bolsheviks gaining primal power. Afterwards, the influence of communism spread to other countries with the likes of Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia and East Germany to name a few. These countries that were governed on communist principles were known as the Eastern Bloc . Even countries in Asia were persuaded into the theoretically human equality system such as China, Laos and Vietnam. Communism was gathering strength to strength every year in the mid 20th century, but eventually its impact was wiped off in the late 20th century when the Berlin War was knocked down in 1989, ending the barrier between the Eastern and Western blocs. Communism arguably was the most influential social experiment in history, but also the most flawed and its failure to change the world permanently will always remain significant in history. The word communism originated from commun , a French term meaning belonging to all . With one concern having in mind about whether evolution happened or not, perhaps Genesis has a hidden message about this topic. God told Adam and Eve that they can eat from any tree and plant they want, but except the fruits from the tree of knowledge. Eve, thinking the tree of knowledge will provide her wisdom, eats the fruit as well her husband Adam. As a result, humanity till now suffers the consequences of Adam and Eve as same with the snake, it was known as an intelligent animal to a cursed one. This allegory in Genesis warns humanity about too much knowledge . For example, the snake was known as the most intelligent creature, but yet it was the cause of the downfall of Adam and Eve. An additional use of biomass is to produce ethanol. Ethanol can be used in special types of cars that are made for using alcohol fuel instead of gasoline. The alcohol can also be combined with gasoline. This reduces our dependence on oil a non renewable fossil fuel (Energy). Frankenstein shows a contrast between the supernatural and the scientific and highlights that there are elements of science which we should fear. This attitude reflected that of many at the time of writing, as science began to gain credibility and was used more frequently, and Shelley shows this in her novel through supernatural imagery and language, characterisation and setting. Shelley explores the power of science ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most obvious example of this is Frankenstein s own character. He is seen to be very arrogant, immature, obsessive and melodramatic, especially in the earlier chapters of the book, an example of which is when he describes that he was left to struggle with a child s blindness when it came to studying science. This attitude best shows Frankenstein as someone who is not likely to own up to their errors, such as later on, when the Creature has murdered William and Justine is punished for the crime although Frankenstein internally realises that it is his fault. This links cleverly in to the idea that it is not science itself that is frightening, but those who manipulate it. Frankenstein can also be seen as a cautionary tale, although perhaps not directed towards science, but again, towards the person who is using science to inform their behaviour and their studies. It is always very clear in the novel that it is Frankenstein s own doing that has led to the catastrophe of the monster, as, even if Shelley is trying to suggest that science itself is the evil in the text, it impossible to overlook the fact that it is Frankenstein himself who has brought the Creature in to being. She utilized the bite marks on her body that she received from a night out with her girl friends to claim that McCaffery caused them. After the night out, she asked the three men to give her a ride back to her friends. McCaffery and the other two men did just that, without touching her. She received the bite marks from her friends, because when she returned to her friends, all of them broke out in a ridiculous brawl. Edicio Martinez of CBS News wrote that, But upon the returning of her friends the argument that began in the Umbrella Lounge escalated into a full fledged fight. The women punched and bit at each other and when she asked why she was so upset and if those boys raped you, she simply agreed, to try and explain her behavior (Martinez). One of the few things that the Loyalists had to go through was tar and feathering . Tar and feathering was the process where people are stripped naked, drenched in tar, then covered in feathers. Whilst covered in this disgusting mixture they are to parade around town while being mocked then having the feathers plucked off their naked bodies. Another way Loyalists were tortured was not necessarily physically but they often had property seized and were under personal attacks constantly. I think my thoughts on family are similar with the same concept of that family consists of the people you are blood related too as well as the people you marry and then later your children if you choose to have them. The Women s Lives Multicultural Perspective book brings up the idea of the ideal nuclear family. According to Kirk and Rey (2010), the ideal nuclear family consists of a hetereosexual couple, married for life, with two or three children. An intersection similar to the one behind the mall can get busy and is very dangerous at night if one is not careful. Any Kind Checks did not have prior notice of the check being dishonored by Mr. Talcott when Guarino attempted to cash it. However, because of its value, they show that they had reason to contact the maker for approval. It is also reasonable for Any Kind to take Mr. Guarino s actions as suspect. As is pointed out in the brief, why would a small business owner, particularly one who is a broker of investments, utilize a check cashing business for this transaction rather than a traditional financial institution? This question in and of itself should give cause for concern to Any Kind considering their policy that any check over $2,000 requires approval. A revision to Article 3 of the UCC added a provision for not only honesty in fact, but also for the observance of reasonable commercial standards of fair dealing. Because a reasonable party could reasonably consider Guarino s actions as suspect, and outside of the commercial standards of fair dealing, the burden of proof is significantly higher in showing good faith and fairness toward all parties (including the maker of the instrument). We have another example in this situation to look at when analyzing if Any Kind took such care in this case. When attempting to cash the second check, Any Kind felt it was necessary to speak with the Maker prior to taking action. Any Kind would not cash the check for Guarino without speaking with Mr. Talcott. Once they received approval from Talcott, and were not advised of any action ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Behavioral Perspective Of Human Development Human development is a process that occurs throughout the lifespan, and lifespan development theories offer frameworks for which to understand human growth. Different approaches focus on specific aspects of human life to determine which has the most significant influence on development. However, one theory usually does not account for all variables of human growth so more than one perspective may be used to analyze development. Two such perspectives, the behavioral and the contextual, explain development in different ways. The behavioral perspective focuses on observable behavior, while the contextual perspective focuses on interrelated systems that influence development. When applied to the case study in the index, the differences in the behavioral and contextual theories become evident. The Behavioral Perspective The behavioral perspective of development suggests that human development can be understood by observing how people behave in response to environmental stimuli. This theory denies distinct universal stages in development and insists that environmental factors influence how a person will change and adapt in their society. From this perspective, people will have positive developmental experiences if they grow up in a nurturing environment. B.F. • 43. Australia, A Country Of Australia By John Bryson Australia is a country of a very unique caliber. Beginning this book, I was not aware of much about Australia. The things that is mostly displayed about the country is that they have kangaroos and very large deserts. Bryson does a great job of describing the culture and events that can be enjoyed. He uses his own experiences to inform the reader of the adventure and excitement that resides in the country. Each trip that the author takes teaches about a new realm of Australia life. Bryson begins his novel by explaining the development of the continent and its very abstract historic mold. Australia began as a location that the British wanted to use to exile convicts in the late 1700 s. The continent was already populated by the native people known as Aborigines. The colonization of Australia had a demoralizing impact on the Aboriginal people. They had to withstand the dispossession of their land, illness and death from European diseases and huge disturbance to their traditional lifestyles and distinct way of social interaction. By the 1820s, many settlers and now freed convicts had turned land they received from the government into flourishing farms. They began to move deeper into Aboriginal territories, leaving little for the native to possess. With so many European and French settlers coming to the country, while in search for agricultural benefits, gold was discovered in the southeastern boundaries of the country in 1851. The lust for gold lured thousands more into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Drum Women At Valley Forge The book Following the Drum Women at the Valley Forge Encampment gave a very good incite to not just what it was like for the men at Valley Forge, but what it was like for the women who were there. In the winter of 1777 8 at Valley Forge there were about one woman of every forty four men (Loane 133). I think book stressed that these women were incredibly helpful in the effort to rebuild this army through the rough winter, no matter what their job were. Although Washington did not think much of the women with the army; he once commanded every woman to leave camp, no matter what her contribution or marital state. The General s unfavorable attitude toward the common camp women did not extend to all women Valley Forge (4). To me it s interesting that General Washington said this about the women there, because throughout the book I felt Washington enjoyed the presence of his wife and the other troop s wives at the encampment. I feel like Americans typically perceive the story of Valley Forge as a battle. Attacks never came from the British during the time the Continental Army was at the encampment. They believe that tons of lives were lost there, when in reality, it was just a place for them to make it through the winter. I think the book reinforces the perceptions of what happened there since, There was between fifteen hundred and three thousand men that died at Valley Forge, not from their wounds, but from disease (119). This statement reinforces the fact that no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal Narrative-I M Tasker I lost count how many times I blinked, just to make sure I wasn t suffering from caffeine overdose, but after what seemed forever, I finally closed my gaping mouth. • 46. Dna Profiling And The Criminal Justice System In November of 1983, 15 year old Lynda Mann was found raped and murdered on a deserted road, and although police were able to obtain a semen sample from her murderer the case remained unsolved. In 1986 the killer struck again murdering 15 year old Dawn Ashworth, once again leaving behind semen, but this time the police were able to use DNA profiling to match the semen to a suspect. Colin Pitchfork became the first person to be caught based on mass DNA screening, and the first to be convicted based on DNA profiling. The use of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) in the criminal justice system has greatly tipped the scales in favor of law enforcement, and changed the world that we live in. Court cases that in the past relied heavily on eye witness testimony and circumstantial evidence now have science to back them up. DNA analysis has revolutionized the criminal justice system, and even though there are some flaws, the use of DNA evidence should continue to be used by law enforcement. While DNA profiling is still considered to be fairly new , the analysis of the human genetic variation began more than a century ago with the discovery of the human ABO blood group. Karl Landsteiner realized that these variations in humans could be used to solve crimes. ABO could be used to exclude suspects, but police needed something that could definitively point the finger at a suspect. In 1984, Alec Jeffreys discovered hypervariable loci, also known as minisatellites. He discovered that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Observation In A Classroom I observed that Saint Cloud High School s facilities were flawless, and the green areas were well kept, it has modern and innovative technology that provide students with permanent opportunities for skill preparation. I also detected that the security is, for instance, well intentioned to keep the students safe. Surveillance cameras are installed throughout the building and the surrounding areas of the school. The Mrs. Sanabria classroom was very organized and safe too. She used technology and classroom physical resources cleverly because the way she fixed the classroom chairs that seemed appropriate for her planned learning activities. One of the main advantages I noticed of having such chairs setting is that she was able to address more often all her students. Consequently, the amount of interaction between her and the learners was evenly distributed. From my point of view, the instructional setting of this class was warm, open and tolerant. The overall setting of the classroom was pleasant and productive. There were a good rapport and friendly balance between instructor and learners interchange. Students participation was dynamic and enthusiastic. The pupils also seemed well ordered, so the classroom rules must have been well founded. No discrimination or unfairness prevailed at all. The students seemed to get along and respect one another. Mrs. Sanabria attitude always looked confident, and she is continually looking at herself reflectively to assess situations and ... • 48. History of Special Needs Ireland History of Special Needs Provision In Ireland Special needs provision in Ireland has evolved since the founding of the state in 1919. Until the early 1990s practically all education and care of children were carried out by the religious orders in Ireland. The government therefore had little need for policies or legislation surrounding education and care. Ireland established its education system in 1831 while under English rule. This made it mandatory for children between the ages of six and fourteen to attend school. The Department of Education was established in 1924. However, the government did not consider that the education of children with special needs was necessary as their needs were seen as purely medical. It was considered more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However separate schools continued throughout the 70s and 80s. In 1971 the primary curriculum was introduced. This led to most special schools and classes providing a modified curriculum for their students. The Department of Education developed Curriculum Guidelines for Schools for the Moderately Handicapped. One important principle of these guidelines was that children have needs as children that have to be satisfied at school as well as their needs as future adults. The notion of integration began to appear in the mid eighties with the idea that special classes could be part of mainstream schools and also from parents who were not availing of special education. In a report on the training and education of severely and profound mentally handicapped children in Ireland 1983 it was recognized that these children should also be entitled to education. Teachers were to be trained to educate such children in special classes within mainstream education. By 1993 over 2000 pupils were being educated in such a way. In 1993 the report of the Special Education Review Committee (SERC) was published. This report dealt comprehensively with the educational implications of special needs. It provided a definition of special needs which included those with severe and profound difficulties through to those who were exceptionally able and included both physical and mental disabilities. It recognized that the desire of the majority of parents of children with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Primitiveness And Savagery In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of... In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness , Conrad uses the depictions of the natives as Marlow goes down the river to portray how human nature is with different levels of power. He uses color imagery to correlate the darkskin of the natives to the name of the continent the natives live on, the Dark Continent . He portrays Africa, or the Dark Continent to be a place of primitiveness and savagery. The nature of the natives are primitive and savage too. In the same way, he aides the superficial meanings of his description with words that have negative connotations to further his depiction of the natives as primitive and savage. In the beginning when Marlow arrives at the Outer Station, Conrad uses the dead and dying natives to represent what human nature should be and sometimes is on the outside. They were dying slowly it was very clear. They were not enemies, they were not criminals, they were nothing earthly now nothing but black shadows of disease and starvation, lying confusedly in the greenish gloom (Conrad 19). They lack power. Conrad intentionally portrays them as powerless because without power, they aren t a threat. He relates this to the primal feelings of man. Given that the Outer Station is a representation of how people should be on the surface, Conrad represents the natives as the inner savages. The natives are dead and dying because the inner savage is dead or dying in society. We have constructed a society in which the inner savages, aka the natives, have no ...
