Amla, or Indian gooseberry, is a medium-sized plant native to tropical southeast Asia that can grow up to 18 meters tall. It has gray bark, yellowish-green or pink flowers, and round, pale yellow fruits that are high in vitamins. Amla grows best in dry, subtropical climates and prefers ample humidity for fruit growth. It has many traditional medical uses as well as other benefits like preventing soil erosion and surviving in hot climates with little water.
