Learn more about Fire Resistant Glass from AIS, a glass range engineered to withstand extreme levels of heat and keep one safe in case of a fire outbreak.
2. INTRODUCTION
Due to an increase in fire outbreaks in India, it
is vital to come up with precautionary
measures that can protect your life, space and
property.
One such measure can be using Fire –
Resistant glass.
Learn more about this glass range and how it
helps.
3. WHY FIRE RATED GLASS?
Here are a few important factors that one
needs to keep in mind to avoid fires:
• Detailed fire protection strategies
• Risk assessments to identify potential issues,
and work towards getting them resolved
• Correct fire safety and evacuation plans
• Clearly marked escape routes, exits and
emergency doors for ease of evacuation
4. WHY FIRE RATED GLASS?
During a fire outbreak, the below factors are
important.
• Correct fittings to minimize the spread of fire
• Ensure creating enough fire barriers
Fire Rated Glass is the perfect solution which,
in case of fire, helps in reducing the spread of
fire, heat and also helps in providing enough
time to implement an evacuation plan.
5. FIRE PROTECTION V/S
FIRE RESISTANT
There are a number of glass available for providing a fire rating while also maintaining light passage and a
clear view, but we need to understand the difference between fire protective & fire resistance glass.
6. AIS PYROBEL
AIS launched a fire- resistant glass under the
brand ‘AIS Pyrobel’ to protect one’s life and
property during a fire outbreak.
‘AIS Pryobel’ and ‘AIS Pyrobelite’ are laminated
glass that consist of an intumescent layer.
They are specially engineered to withstand
extreme levels of heat, restrict heat transfer
and prevent passage of smoke and flames.
8. AIS PYROBEL RANGE
There are 3 types of AIS Pyrobel Glass:-
1. E Class – Integrity- They provide only integrity. These are special
tempered glasses and they prevent the spread of flames to the
non-fire side. There will be no protection from radiation in this type
of glasses. They are normally used for internal applications.
2. EW Class – Integrity & Low Radiation - These are tempered and
laminated glasses. They prevent the flames and also control the
radiation on the non-fire side to a maximum of 15KW per sqm.
They offer integrity and provide for low heat radiation. They are
used for internal and external applications.
3. EI Class – Integrity & Insulation - These type of glasses offer
integrity and insulation. The maximum temperature on the non-fire
side does not exceed an average of 140 degree Celsius.
9. FRAMING SYSTEM
Importance of Frames:
• Support glass panes
• Helps whole system to perform as desired in
the case of fire
Types of framing materials:
• Wood
• Aluminium
• Steel
Fire rated glass, if put in a non fire rated system, is as good as non fire rated glass. Thus, selection of
correct framing system is important.
10. APPLICATIONS
‘AIS Pyrobel’ and ‘AIS Pyrobelite’ can be used
for the below applications.
• Partition
• Transoms
• Door & windows
• Roofs / Overhead Applications
• Facades
• Smoke Screens
