A SELF-GUIDED TRAINING MANUAL FOR UTILIZING SOCIAL MEDIA IN
TRAINING

Overview
This training manual will provide guidance around utilizing social
media within the corporate learning environment.
With the increased usage of social media, companies must ensure that
they are utilizing all methods and avenues that will allow for “ease of
use” when on the go, social learning via social media will provide that
opportunity.

 The role that social learning plays in addressing business problems
is it helps with employee development and skill advancement.
 In addition, it helps to reinforce organizational culture and helps to
change the culture through communication which in turns reduces
many business problems. ("Shrm", 2016).
 Employees learn from how their peers address and deal with the
same or similar situations.
Business Issues and Strengthening Relationships
By allowing employees to ask and answer questions and problem solve
together, social learning has helped employees when confronted with a
difficult work problem.
 Alleviates employee stress and boosts morale.
 Posing questions on social media is a fast and efficient way to obtain an
answer, and it isn’t as nerve-racking as asking one’s supervisor.
 Provides more engagement from employees.
 Companies can implement more interactive training.
Social
Media Tools
Although there are multiple platforms and tools that can be used for social media
and social learning, sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Google are raising the bar
in terms of school and workplace collaboration. Of those more popular tools,
Google has moved to the forefront of collaboration with its G Suite.
Google launched the G Suite group of products that offered users access to the
cloud, email, instant messaging and a collaborative communication platform that
mimics the programs that could be found in MS office. Provides more
collaborative opportunities in real time assisting groups working together.
Conclusion
Social learning and social media is an
effective way to strengthen employee
relationships and collaboration efforts. It
influences the way people communicate,
gather new information and share their
views and opinions.
There are dozens of platforms available
for personal and workplace use; it is just
a matter of determining which tool
matches your overall need and objective.

  • 2. Overview This training manual will provide guidance around utilizing social media within the corporate learning environment. With the increased usage of social media, companies must ensure that they are utilizing all methods and avenues that will allow for “ease of use” when on the go, social learning via social media will provide that opportunity.
  • 4. Barriers to Social Learning Overcoming Barriers Nervousness about learning technologies, not understanding how it is used. Fear of posting, commenting, advising, or responding to a comment made by senior management Learning would question social learning and benefits to them Demonstrating how social media works in its simplest form. Utilize Blended Learning Encourages team building and support
  • 5. Problem Solving through Social Learning
  • 6.  The role that social learning plays in addressing business problems is it helps with employee development and skill advancement.  In addition, it helps to reinforce organizational culture and helps to change the culture through communication which in turns reduces many business problems. ("Shrm", 2016).  Employees learn from how their peers address and deal with the same or similar situations.
  • 7. Business Issues and Strengthening Relationships
  • 8. By allowing employees to ask and answer questions and problem solve together, social learning has helped employees when confronted with a difficult work problem.  Alleviates employee stress and boosts morale.  Posing questions on social media is a fast and efficient way to obtain an answer, and it isn’t as nerve-racking as asking one’s supervisor.  Provides more engagement from employees.  Companies can implement more interactive training.
  • 10. Although there are multiple platforms and tools that can be used for social media and social learning, sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Google are raising the bar in terms of school and workplace collaboration. Of those more popular tools, Google has moved to the forefront of collaboration with its G Suite. Google launched the G Suite group of products that offered users access to the cloud, email, instant messaging and a collaborative communication platform that mimics the programs that could be found in MS office. Provides more collaborative opportunities in real time assisting groups working together.
  • 11. Conclusion Social learning and social media is an effective way to strengthen employee relationships and collaboration efforts. It influences the way people communicate, gather new information and share their views and opinions. There are dozens of platforms available for personal and workplace use; it is just a matter of determining which tool matches your overall need and objective.
