Adjectives
Teacher Emerson Macedo
Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or thing in
the sentence.
• The tall building.
• The excellent teacher.
• A ten years old boy.
• A beautiful car.
Note: Remember that in English, the adjective is usually put before the noun it describes.
An adjective can also be used after a linking verb, especially the verb be.
• The macaw is beautiful.
• Monkeys are funny.
• The sky is blue.
• Katy is beautiful.
Note: When we have a linking verb, we must use the adjective after the noun it describes.
Adjectives ending in –ed and –ing
• We can make adjectives by adding –ed or –ing to some verbs
-ed adjectives are used to describe how someone is feeling.
I was surprised to see Betty.

-ing adjectives are used to describe the thing that causes the feeling.

When we have more than one adjective to describe the same noun,
we must follow an order.
