Why, a gay couple not be allowed to participate in the ultimate expression of love a
marriage? However, the idea of gay marriage has not gained acceptance in this
country. Americans, like all human beings, are naturally resistant to change.
Humans are especially resistant to change when it has shoved down their throats,
which is what many see it done by the liberal courts nowadays. As we have seen
with blacks quest for civil rights, change must come gradually over time; otherwise,
unrest and further division created. In addition, the history of gay marriage spans
decades, even centuries of undocumented ceremonies and commitments. Denmark
became a trailblazing country, leading the way for the concept of registering same
sex couples in what we know as a civil union. This pioneering country voted on a
law to register domestic partnership of gay couples on May 26, 1989. (Bennett,
1996) The law went into force on October 1 1989.The initially challenge is an
ethical one. Gay couples want the same rights as heterosexual couples, and by
classic reciprocity principles, this is something all citizens can understand. ( The gay
marriage, 2004) These striking times mark history but also make changes in how the
world viewed and operated by society. What is especially noteworthy about this
American trend is the degree to which it is exceptional on the world scene. At a time

David, a twelve year old little boy who is diagnosed with liver cancer has wished
to meet a navy bomb squad. His bright blue eyes and his sparkling smile tug on the
viewer s heart strings. In bold, white letters reads Giving back to Make A Wish
meant a lot to me and above, a big blue box which says DONATE. The Make A
Wish Foundation helps young kids with life threatening diseases to make a wish
and be granted said wish, which will, hopefully, make a difference in children s
lives. The main claim that the website seems to bring out is that any kid with life
threatening diseases can make a wish and we will do everything in their power to
make that wish come true. With the help of your donations and fundraising, we
can make these children cheerful once again. However, one may wonder how does
Make A Wish establish credibility in the audience to receive these donations? Is it
the way that the sickly children smile, almost begging please give us money ? Or
is it because Make A Wish already has such an honest reputation? To know for sure,
one must take a deeper look into the appeal of The Make A Wish website. The
Make A Wish logo is centralized on the top of the page with links left and right of
it that say REFER A CHILD, WAYS TO HELP, and, the most prominent, DONATE.
Further down the page, there is a Youtube video that in more detail, describes what
Make A Wish is doing and how one can help. Yet, back onto the top main page,

Trust In Hamlet
Trust is an essential department of every relationship. A healthy relationship needs
trust and dependence on one another. Without trust, doubt and suspicions befall and
tension arises between two people. In the play, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, trust
is crucial and very breakable. The main character, Hamlet, is faced in a conflicting
situation in which he begins to question the motives of the people closest to him,
after his father s death. He begins to doubt and suspect people close to him like, his
lover, Ophelia, and his university friends, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Despite his
keen trustissues, he forms a solid and unbreakable trust with his close friend, Horatio
in which he is the only person Hamlet has ever let through his walls.... Show more

They have shown no signs of care or worry for Hamlet after his father s death,
instead, they turn their backs on him by following the commands of the King
against him for their own benefit. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are both
commissioned by the King to spy on Hamlet and they easily comply with him
because they care about Hamlet no more than they care about themselves, But we
both obey, and here give up ourselves to lay our service freely at your feet, to be
commanded. (2.2.31 34). After his father s death, he experiences an emotional and
mental crisis on whether or not he should trust the people around him. Shakespeare
puts Hamlet and his relationship with his university friends in this situation as to
relay a message that trust is a breakable bond, and that no matter how close Hamlet
is to someone, he has to build his walls around himself so that he won t be
vulnerable to their inevitable attack. He shows that people will do anything, even as
far as to betray their friends for their own self interest, because people are selfish that

something especially by effort. In construction terms, procurement refers to the
process of acquiring something. (Encarta Dictionary, 2009)
Procurement is comes from the word of procure which is means to bring about and to

Procurement method is an overall management structure and specific management
practices used in the project such as houses, office buildings, shopping complex,
roads, bridges, etc. (Rosli Abdul Rashid, 2006)

In this method, it is an obligation to complete the project within the contract period,
however, the client may accept a later date to account for delays resulting from
reasons listed in the contract.
In Design and Build Method, the contractor is responsible for undertaking both the
design and construction of the work in return for a lump sum price. To arrive at a
choice of contractor, contractors are required to develop a design (from an initial
concept prepared by the consultant appointed to advice the client) to a certain
level, prepare a tender figure and submit the whole package which is termed a
proposal to be evaluated to meet the satisfaction of the client. A team of consultants
will be needed to assess each contractor s proposal. Evaluation of tenders in this
case is usually difficult because the contractors are not working with one design.
Tenderers should be informed of the criteria to be used, and whether price is likely to
be a prime factor (Nwachukwu,

Decision Making Decision making and planning can be rightly called the primary
management tasks and these tasks occur at every level of management although
naturally the type of planning and decision making will vary between the levels
without decisions and actions they planning process is a sterile exercise it takes

is an integral part of all management tasks and it occurs in all levels. The type of
decision taken varies but all decision makers go through the same processes and all
managers must choose the outcome of their choices and must be responsible for
the outcome of the choices made during appraisal. Decision making involves
principal phases (finding occasions for making decisions, finding possible causes
of action choosing among ones of action and evaluating past choices. The task of
management involves making of Cottles decision, so much so that some believe
management is decision making there are many subsidiary acts in decision which
are themselves automatic of which the processes are usually unknown to the actor

In the novel Lord of the Flies William Golding uses many forms of symbolism to
point out the underlying conflicts in their society. By using these symbols he makes
the reader not only think about the problems that arise in the book, but also hints
towards problems in our society today. The story uses the conch, fire, and the glasses
to reference other meanings in the story. These symbols play a crucial part in the
story in which they provide the reader with information that isn t directly stated but is
inferred. The first symbolthat appears in the story is the conch which was found by

Shortly after a problem arises and they make another rule We ve got to have
special people for looking after the fire. Any day there may be a ship out there he
waved his arm at the taut wire of the horizon and if we have a signal going they ll
come and take us off. (Golding, 42). At this point in the novel their society has its
first hopes of rescue and success. The fire symbolizes the society wanting saved
from the island and the burning hope that it may one day happen. The Beast also
appeared throughout the story as the fear of the society not succeeding and the
apparent danger they were in. Piggy doesn t believe that the fear is real. He states
that I know there isn t no beast not with claws and all that, I mean but I know there
isn t no fear, either (Golding, 83). The beast represents the evil of the boys and the
darkness that surrounds the society. Jack on the other hand believes that the beast
is real and says Bollocks to the rules! We re strong we hunt! If there s a beast, we ll
hunt it down! We ll close in and beat and beat and beat ! (Golding, 102). Jack
believes that the beast can be hunted down but the beast is a symbolism for the fear
inside of each and every one of them. The beast cannot be hunted or killed because
the beast is them. Golding s great use of imagery confused readers at first but is deep
and meaningful in the plot. The use of the beast, fire, and the
Correlation Between Consumption Of Cigarettes And Price
Interpretation of the Findings This study s framework was of a statistical nature.
The researchers took statistical data from two different years and compared them
against each other, with the only changing variable between the years was an
increase in sales tax on tobacco products. The data that was collected indicated that
there was a decrease in tobaccosales compared to the year before. Thus, validating
the null hypothesis by showing a direct relationship between consumption of
cigarettes and price. By looking at the observed ration of reduced consumption to
increased price ( 12.1%: 30.2% = 0.40) we can estimate the price elasticity. This
elasticity shows the responsiveness of the demand of the product versus its change
in price. This ratio was an expected value and shows direct correlation to
consumption of tobacco products and there price and is consistent with similar
studies done on tax increases on tobacco (Amato, et al., (2015).
Limitations
However, this increase in taxes was the highest tax increase in a decade in
Minnesota. This study was also limited in that it only looked at convenience stores
only and was to one specific area. Even with the stated 63% of all cigarettes being
bought in these stores it limits the study but not looking at all places where cigarettes
are sold. It also limited the types of cigarettes purchased. This study only looked at
three types of cigarette sells and do not include the purchase of cartons. Even though

Jonestown Massacre
Every human in this world is promised to something from love to a better country.
Promises are to be true to happen, but sometimes those promises are broken and
never to happen. An example of a broken promised, which was made by a leader of a
socialist group, Jim Jones. People joined a socialist group called People s Temple,
who were promised by Jones to move to Jonestown a place that he created for the
people that Jim Jones authorized. Jonestown is located on a little island in Guyana.
Jim Jones decided to move his socialist group over there so they can be isolated
from the authorities. For the reason that he was committing fraud with money. Jim
Jones was saying that People s Temple was a Christian group instead of a socialist
group, so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Layton explains, There were guards, just teenagers, marching around with guns
(Layton 164). Jonestown was continually attacked and Jim Jones would call those
attacks White Nights. As, Layton tells what Jim Jones would say about White
Nights, They [CIA] want to invade and kill us. Father says that they ll try again,
too. We ve had several attacks. Father calls them White Nights since it is white
men who are trying to ruin our project here (Layton 160). Jonestown people got to
actually live horrible attacks when they were in Guyana then when they were in
the city. As said, Jim Jones wanted to move to Guyana because it is a small island
isolated from every harm that there is, yet they moved to where the harm was
occurring at the moment. As Jim Jones promised to his people that wanted to stop
all the violence. An example was when Jones was trying to recruit people to the
Promise Land, Help me eradicated injustice from all our lives...Be a part of a
fellowship that will work to rid our society of hatred, racism, and poverty...Through
my ministry you can help make history. As a group, we can wipe out racism and
immorality throughout America (Layton 36). In the other hand, Martin Luther
King Jr. dream was that he wanted to stop the violence that was going around the
world due to racism. King Jr. explains, We can never be satisfied as long as the
Negro is the victim of the unspeakable horrors of police brutality (King Jr., Middle).
People were being attacked just by their skin color, which was unfair. At the end,
Jones did little to make his promises come true; as he was the one who caused all the

Essay 4
The term The Negro Problem was used throughout the 1950 s and 60 s as a slang
description of the racial tension between black and white Americans. The two essays
in The Fire Next Time talk about the problem that the African Americancommunity
faced, but from different perspectives. The author is writing to his nephew and is
trying to make him understand that the situation is intolerable and not likely to
change. He suggests that instead of reacting from a place of anger and hate, that the
nephew should fight and strive to change the situation rather than confronting it
violently. That his nephew and even the community as a whole should try to almost
outsmart the whites by being the opposite of what they think of them. To prove them
wrong and hopefully change the way they are looked at. He suggests a change of
attitudes on both sides, to spread love and understanding instead of hate and
animosity.
Baldwin grew up on the streets of Harlem; he began to realize the all of the
temptations such as sex and drugs was all around him. In order not to give into these
temptations, he went to the church in the hopes it would give him some insight on
what to do. Eventually Baldwin sadly realized that the church was not preaching the
idea of love to everyone, but only to the ones who believed in the same things they
did. It is not too much to say that whoever wishes to become a truly moral human

Million Dollar Band Research Paper
Alabama s Million Dollar Marching owes its success to its directors, various
sections, and the upbringings of the band. The band s first conductor, Colonel
Carleton Butler, began the band as a military band in 1914. He was nicknamed the
Father of the Million Dollar Band . His music style included high paced tempos
with quick stepping to elaborate maneuvers. Accuracy and style were the key points
to all his performances. He has won many awards such as being given the title of
Honorary Colonel in the Great State of Alabama by Governor John Patterson in 1959.
Butler s most outstanding achievement was being elected the first president of the
newly founded Alabama Bandmasters Association in 1939. In 1968, he was awarded

He previously worked as a band director at the University of Mississippi. He heard
that Alabama s band was struggling financially due to only having less than 125
members and wanted to lend a hand. He based his music selection on what he called
The Trifecta. The Trifecta consisted of music Ferguson thought was worth playing,
music students liked, and music he liked. He left the band in 1984 to pursue a
career in the computer software business. The band had around 225 musicians and
35 to 40 color guard members and majorettes, which gave the band its nickname
Fat Albert. James Ferguson left the band with the words, I was interested in music
being played well by young people...I wanted people at the game to enjoy watching
the band and be proud of it... Today, the band consists of 400 members, divided into

How Did Peterson Get The Right To Vote
The coming age of African Americans rights to vote was a remarkable time in history.
This life changing experience set new boundaries for the welfare of minorities in the
United States. African Americans would be able to cast their votes on governmental
issues, without becoming afraid of the harmful acts they may have to face. The 15th
Amendment to the Constitution granted African Americanmen the right to vote by
declaring that the right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or
abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous
condition of servitude. Although ratified on February 3, 1870, the promise of the

The Influence Of Playing Pokemon Go
Participating in the survey were 193 high school and middle school aged students
from a mid sized southeastern school. Forty four percent of the respondents were
male, and 56% were female. Seventy eight percent of the respondents were
between the ages of twelve and fifteen, while 22% of the respondents were
between the ages of sixteen and eighteen. Only about 1 of 10 students (9.8%) said
that when Pokemon Go was popular they played every day. However, roughly 3 in
10 students (31.6%) answered that when it was popular their friends played every
day. The hypothesis stated: Males playvideo games significantly more than females.
As the results demonstrate, there was a significant difference between males and
females with respect to playing Pokemon Go while it was popular ( t= 4.507, p
.05). More specifically, males played Pokemon Go at a much higher rate (M= 2.00)
than females (M=1.38). Although the results were not as strong, there was also a
large difference between males and females with respect to perception of their
friends playing (t=2.627, p=.009). The results of this question show that males
believe their peers play much more (M= 2.77) than females (M= 2.31).

Americans have always had their set course of food that follows through every
year. Nothing stops the average American from throwing raw meat onto the grill
and waiting until it becomes a tender burger or savory hot dog. The meal would

Americans are faced with what appears to be the hardest decision of their life.
Every chip ranging from the classic nacho cheese to a cheddar and cheese ruffle

but it is enough to have the American citizens mouth watering. In Mexico, a

Haqqani network s main goal is to drive foreign military power and influence out of

Pakistan is the largest supporter of the Haqqani network. Pakistani military and the
Inter Services Intelligence Directorate (ISID) are supporting the group by refusing to
take military action. The Pakistani military feels that the Haqqani network is a useful
ally due to their actions in Afghanistan. Pakistan is now in the process of banning the
Haqqani network. However, without active support this will be ineffective. Recent
statements by Sartaj Aziz, the adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs to
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, also indicate that the Pakistani government is not
serious about tackling the Haqqani network. In mid November, Aziz said Pakistan
should not make enemies out of groups such as the Haqqani network, and that the
Afghan Taliban was Afghanistan s problem, not Pakistan s. (Roggio, 2015).
The Haqqani network uses bombings, kidnappings, and assassinations as their

use of suicide bombers due to ineffectiveness on their targets. The main effort now is
to destabilize the governing power, and prevent reconstruction. Haqqani fighters are

Personal Journey Of Equality In Ayn Rand s Anthem
Anthem by Ayn Rand is a narrative about a young man, named Equality 7 2521,
who lives in a collectivist society. This book is about the personal journey of
Equality 7 2521 in a future version of our society. In this novel, the reader reads
about an environment in which everyone is considered as one, meaning that no one
is meant to be an individual. Each person in this society is assigned a certain job to
benefit their brothers and is expected to follow a certain order throughout their
lifetime. Helping their fellow members is also an important rule to their society
because it promotes the concept of selflessness. Anthem by Ayn Randportrays three
different themes that the reader acknowledges; selflessness, order, and equality.

Individuality is not tolerated by the society because it represents inequality, which
the society does not wish to be associated with. We are nothing. Mankind is all. By
the grace of our brothers are we allowed our lives. (Rand 21). Throughout the
novel, the reader starts to realize how their society is kept equal through most of
the dialogue and feelings towards the other men. Another example of equality
shown in the novel is that all of the people in the society are expected to follow the
rules and have a part in the same activities as one another. We are one in all and all
in one... only the great WE... (Rand 19). Here the reader starts to understand that
their nation accepts the purpose of their society which is to exhibit equality by
treating everyone equal to the other members. ... there is no transgression blacker
than to do or think alone. (Rand 17). Readers evaluate how the members of the
society treat each other equal by acknowledging the transgression of individuality.
Their society believes that individualism is dangerous to their community which
results with everything in their life being based on plurals. For example, everyone in
their society is meant to address themselves with the pronoun we instead of I because
the pronoun I represent individuality. Everyone in this society is meant to be treated
as equals and they are currently keeping that rule in
Manifest Destiny And Western Expansion
Manifest Destiny
In the 19th century the settlers in America believed they had a mandate from God to
expand west, this is called the Manifest Destiny. This expansion would involve not
merely territorial aggrandizement, but the progress of liberty and individual
economic opportunity as well. The Manifest Destiny shaped America throughout the
years. Three main things that revolve around the Manifest Destiny are the moon race
with Russia, western expansion, and how we found more resources and
advancements in technology. Western expansion was the main topic in the Manifest
Destiny, but the Manifest Destiny was not the only thing involved with western
expansion. One of the other main factors in Western expansion was the louisiana

victory of becoming the president of America. He campaigned on an expansionist

Jodee Parker s Please Stop Laughing At Me
Many people believe the world could always become a better place, but never do
anything about it. Jodee Blanco, Trevor McKinney, and George Washington are
exceptions. Please Stop Laughing at Me.. is a book written by Jodee Blanco, telling
her story of abuse and torment, and how even through thick and thin, she would
always reach out and help a person in need. Pay it Forward, a movie starring Trevor
McKinney, tells the story of a seventh grade boy assigned with changing the world.
Our founding father, George Washington, led our country to war for what he
believed was right, democracy. Jodee Blanco, Trevor McKinney, and George
Washington all started as average people, but decided to stand up for what was right

For many years of her childhood, she was constantly teased and abused because
she was different. Even through the abuse, Jodee always stayed kind and caring.
One person she helped was her high school friend Noreen. Jodee befriended the
lonely girl in her speech class, later she learned how much it helped Noreen.
Noreen, just like Jodee, was constantly harassed for being different, leading her to
have no friends at the high school. Jodee gave Noreen someone to share her pain
with, and gave her someone she could trust in. Another person Jodee helped was
Marianne. Jodee helped her by working with the deaf children at Holy Ascension,
treating Marianne like the little sister she never had. She was an outcast from
regular children and the deaf children as well. This was due to the fact that even
compared to the deaf kids she was different, and they couldn t understand her. ... A

Different Types Of Staph Infections
Abstract
Staphylococcus aureus is a gram positive bacterium. It is accountable for numerous
conditions when it crosses the threshold into the human body. The bacterium may
also be referred to as a Staph infection . There are more than 28 different types of
staphylococcus aureus that are responsible for cellulitis, blood poisoning, and various
others. Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus is also a type of staphylococcus
aureus. Staph infections are curable with different antibiotics. Staphylococcus aureus
Staphylococcus aureus is a microorganism that appears on several diverse surfaces.
This bacterium lives harmlessly on the skin as part of the normal flora. Hard
surfaces are also covered in S. aureus. The microorganism is gram positive. ... Show

Staph infections can spread from person to person in group living situations (like
college dorms). Usually this happens when people with skin infections share personal
things like bed linens, towels, or clothing. Warm, humid environments can contribute
to staph infections (Staph, 2016). Infections from the staph families are especially
common in teens and young adults due to the amount of sharing and touching this
age group do. It is important to educate adolescents about the damage that a staph
infection can have on the body. Americans should also be diligent about having good
hygiene in order to reduce the chance of getting an infection.
The staph infections can range from somber to flesh eating infections. A common
skin condition that staph is able to cause is cellulitis. It is more common in people
who have a weakened immune system such as people who are immunocompromised,
infants, and the elderly. Cellulitis is characterized by a red, warm patch on the skin
paired with a fever. The bacteria that cause cellulitis can spread rapidly, entering
lymph nodes and your bloodstream. Recurrent episodes of cellulitis may cause
chronic swelling of the affected limb (Mayo, 2015). Cellulitis is spread extremely
easily, and is a big issue within long term care facilities. The infection can be cured
by antibiotics. However, there are cases reported stating that cellulitis is becoming
resistant to some antibiotics. The doctor can order a culture to send to pathology.
Absolutism In The 17th Century
Absolute monarchy is the notion that the monarch rules will unlimited power, only
omitted by divine law or natural law. During the seventeenth century, absolutism was
ineffective in England, while it flourished in France. Comparatively, causes of its
decline in England were similar to those of its former rise in France. These being;
raging war(s), nobility power, religious tensions, and need for money. Whereas, the
two countries were also different in respect of how each country s monarch went
about their divine right. As the sources of absolutisms increase or decrease were
analogous, how the French and English monarchies controlled war, money, religion,
and other political authority, caused that increase of decrease The rise of absolutism in

In both instances, war set up absolute monarchy for success, or failure. Since Henry
IV promised to feed everyone, I want there to be no peasant in my realm so poor
that he will not have a chicken in his pot every Sunday, many subjects were willing
to let him have absolute rule in order to make their society better. Also, as an
absolute monarch he was capable of lowering peasant taxes, all while increasing
revenues. Whereas, the English absolute monarchy was greedy, Charles II wanted
more sufficient revenue to satisfy himself. This lead to a secret agreement
converting Charles II to Roman Catholic. When his people heard of this, anti
Catholic fear spread across England. Reaching its pinnacle point when James II
succeeded his brother as a Roman Catholic. Unrelenting religious turmoil, created by
the financial greed of the English monarch, lead absolutism to fail in England.
However, by issuing the Edict of Nantes, Henry IV of France eased religious tension
between Catholics and Calvinists. Consequently, the French people saw the absolute
monarch as an intelligent king whom improved their society. Lastly, the power of the
Parliament and nobility effected the rise of and fall
Sophisticated Weapons
Sophisticated weaponry is usually acquired by the most funded organizations. The
usage of automatic weapons is also becoming common during terrorist attacks.
Hijacking aircrafts is also one of the most known terrorism tactic in the world. It also
occurred during the 9/11 attacks when four commercial airlines were hijacked
simultaneously. However, with modern techniques used in counterterrorism on
airports and travelling in general, the incident rate of successful hijacking has
decreased. Another historically used means of terrorismis employing biological and
chemical weapons. The damage of these weapons depends upon the execution
method and quantity used. Many countries in the world have used both chemical as
well as biological weapons in

known as NBC Universal, which is quite different from its humble beginnings. This

Unlike MGM or Warner Bros., short subjects had always been a fundamental part of
Universal s production strategy. In an effort to remove itself from its near bottom
industry ranking, the company flirted occasionally with the prestige feature market
during the 1930s, usually to its п¬Ѓnancial detriment. During this decade it did its
best п¬Ѓnancially when it concentrated on its primary business: turning out low
budget features at high speed. Universal s short subject releases maintained this
philosophy throughout the 1930s with amazing consistency, considering the
turnover in management (including the ouster of Laemmle and his son, Carl, Jr, in
1936). Early in the 1930s, the studio s emphasis was shifted to two reel comedies,
starting with the likes of Slim Summerville, Arthur Lake and Benny Rubin as
starring comedians. The Universal two reelers took a decidedly interesting swing
when former Hal Roach studio manager Warren Doane was hired in 1932 to
organize a production unit. Doane, in turn, brought in Roach employees James W.
Horne, a young George Stevens and Alf Goulding as directors, as well as a long time
member of Charles Chaplin s staff, Albert Austin. The unit lasted until 1934, with
Stevens leaving for RKO quite a bit earlier. Unfortunately most of these
Superbowl Essay
The Story of The NFL Shop Family The Superbowl is one of the most widely
watched television events in the nation every year. Unlike many other sporting
events, the Superbowl is not watched by fans of the sport alone, but by just about
anyone with access to a television. Growing up, my brother was the only avid
sports fan in the house, but every year the whole family would crowd around the
TV to watch The Superbowl. My brother excluded, we did this not out of real
interest for the sport of Football, but because we wanted to see all of the brand new
(and hopefully emotionally arousing) commercials that air during the Superbowl.
Through the years, the Superbowl has actually become known for this aspect.
Recently certain websites have even began holding an annual ranking for the best
and worst Superbowl commercials each year. Though I wasn t particularly
interested in the Superbowl last year, one commercial still stands out to me almost
eight months later. It is a commercial for nflshop.com, and it seems to convey the
story of a family that begins as Vikings fans but over time expands into a family of
Vikings, Bengals, Eagles, Steelers, and Cowboys fans. Depending on the viewer s
perspective on the commercial, in its short 30 second duration the advertisement
either tells the story of a touching progressive family molded by life experiences or
of a very noncommittal family with various impractical team affiliations. Either by
alienation or affection the commercial conveys a very

and all local or other authorities within the territory of India or under the control
of the Government of India. Position in Britain According to Common Law, before
1947, the Crown could not be sued in a court on a contract. This privilege was
traceable to the days of feudalism when a lord could not be sued in his own courts.
Another maxim which was pressed into service was that the King can do no
wrong . A subject could, however, seek redress against the Crown through a
petition of right in which he set out his claim, and if the royal fiat was granted, the
action could then be tried in the court. The royal fiat was granted as a matter of
course and not as a matter of right, and there was no remedy if the fiat was refused.
The Crown Proceedings Act,1947, abolished this procedure and permitted suits being
brought against the Crown in the ordinary courts to enforce contractual liability, a
few types of contracts being, however, excepted. Position in India The Indian
Contract Act, 1872 does not prescribe any form for entering into contracts. A contract

Let us start with a brief overview of Electromagnetic Radiation ;
Radiant energy released by certain electromagnetic processes is Electromagnetic
Radiation. It is radiant energy that is all around us and takes many forms whether it
be visible, such as, visible light, or invisible electromagnetic radiations, such as radio
waves, infrared light, sunlight, and x rays.
Electromagnetic radiation covers a large spectrum of wavelengths, these waves of
radiant energy have different usage according to their energy, in example; the rays
from the sun, sunlight is vital to life on earth, radio waves allow us to
communicate, microwaves allow us to cook our foods, infrared radiation provides
us with warmth/heat, visible light illuminate and is also used essentially for
growth of our trees, flowers, and the many foods we grow on earth, ultraviolet
rays, which also comes from the sun, provide us with Vitamin D which is vital for
our bones, and x rays are used for medical diagnostic such as diagnosing a fractured
or broken bone or pathology, it is also used in airports to check our luggage and
help us be safe onboard to our paradise destinations. Gamma rays are used in the
medical field to sterilize surgical equipments, it is also used to sterilize baby
nipples, and cosmetic products, just to name a few; And for the past 60 years or so,
the combination of Radiation, Cobalt 60, Cesium 137, and Gamma Rays have been
used for Irradiating food.

Future Expansion:
This project could also include a multimeter and curve tracer. It could also be
improved by having a higher voltage and a better regulated power supply. The
function generator could also have higher bandwidth and frequency.
Cost:
Estimated total cost is $316. Introduction:
When we visualized our senior project, we decided that engineering and electronic
students in college could make use of portable, inexpensive, simple equipment in
order to demonstrate concepts off campus. This equipment would not necessarily
have all of the functionality and versatility of the lab equipment, but it would be
useful in demonstrating concepts. The current lab equipment is great for school, but
if students have a need to use the equipment at home such as to finish labs, learn
more, or just hobby use, they are left without an inexpensive alternative with the
equipment currently on the market. Our solution was to address these issues with
our project which we named Lab In A Box. This would allow students to have a
portable oscilloscope, power supply, and function generator at a greatly reduced
cost. The labs performed usually only requires low bandwidth and low voltage
equipment. The power supplies in the labs are DC with the capability of +6V and
В±25V. The function generator is a 15MHz waveform generator that is capable of
sine, square, triangle, and saw tooth waveforms. The
The Main Aims And Objectives Of Waitrose

Arthur Rose and David Taylor when they opened their shop in Acton (Andidas,
2003). In 1937, it was acquired by the John Lewis Partnership and its Self Service
was introduced in 1951. From a small business selling grocery products, it has been
built up to a network of over 300 shops known for its own historical and the quality
of products. The majority of their customers are those who have stable incomes
and above due to their uncompetitive price. Their key aims and objectives are to
archive improvement in services and gain more profits by open new store and
expand their business into the North West. In addition, Waitrose also wants to
archive more targets in the next period of time such as to motivate their staff to
provide better services, which can increase levels of customer service, and develop
their organic range as well as their relationships with local community In this
project. In this essay, the dominant stakeholders and their main interest will be

Explain Why The Hunger Games Should Be Banned
Have you ever seen a book being banned for violence? Have you ever seen a book
promoting a damaging lifestyle being read to children everywhere? There are over
11,000 books being challenged worldwide and hundreds of them are currently
banned in school. Those books are being restricted for being inappropriate for readers
or promote things that are considered negative. One of the top ten most banned books
of all time is The Hunger Games and the series. The books are about teenagers
being reaped every year to join the hunger games and kill each other, it shows a
different society with people fighting and basically being slaves for the Capitol
which categorizes the bookto have violence and promote a damaging lifestyle.
Parents, schools and even countries are banning The Hunger Games since the series
shows rebels fighting against the government and that can create rebellious actions.
The series has become one of the most controversial series because there are plenty
of reasons it should be banned but it is also one of the greatest book series of all time.

The Hunger Games is full of violence, murder, and profanity but the theme of it is
hope. Hope is expecting or desire for certain things to happen. When you look at
the Games where the Capitol can execute 24 children each year but they let them

Southern Colonies included Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and
Georgia. Colonial America regions, each had different motives entirely different from

The geography of the New England Colonies is diverse. Some New England states
have thick forest, hilly landscapes, and rocky soil, while others have rich soil and
flat land. This area is not suitable for farming as it is extremely rocky. In addition,
most of the rural areas are covered with forests and woods. While the southern
colonies are bordered by the Appalachian Mountains on the west, and bordered by
the Atlantic Ocean on the east. The geography of the Southern Colonies featured
tideland ideal for broad rivers for transportation, forest and swamp marshes, hilly
coastal plains, and growing crops. Moreover, to describe the temperatures effects on
agriculture, the Southern colonies had warm, damp climate, which allowed settlers to
grow cash crops.Among the most common crops were cotton, tobacco, indigo, rice
and grain. The also produced large amounts of furs and timber for trade. On the other
side, due to the fact the climate of New England is far colder than the other regions
and winters tend to last longer they only had enough food for themselves with very
little left over for trade. There main agriculture consisted of fishing, whaling, trading,
creating lumber and shipbuilding. To summarize, the geography of New England and
the Southern colonies are distinctively different with temperature and land which

The Pursuit of Happiness
The Pursuit of Happiness for one person is different for that of another person. The
same goes for those of different cultures. It could be the traditions in how they are
brought up as children and what they are taught to believe at an early age. In
America we are continually told about the American Dream which is the portrait of
the perfect family in a Norman Rockwell painting, the perfect job, the house with
the white picket fence and no problems where everybody looks happy and acts as if
they are happy; this would be a stereotype of what happiness looks like. Is this true

Happiness is based on what is going on around the culture as a whole and not the
individual. Asian cultures and traditions do not look at happiness as a major
experience in the realm of life experiences. They regard happiness and all emotions
as temporary states of the mind and continue on with their day as if nothing
happened. Asian cultures are more apt to view well being by how they are seen as a
family or country by those around them in their community which is very critical for
the Asian cultures. Whereas Americans are more individualistic in this sense for we
are always looking to be better than the next person.
A good example of the difference between Asian cultures and America would be the
Olympic Games. Children from most other countries than the USA are literally taken
from homes at early ages and it is their job to bring home the gold medal for their
country. It is put in their heads at an early age that this is their meaning in life and
that if they don t succeed that they will be bringing failure not only to themselves
but to their family and country if they don t succeed. This is why when America
took the gold in women s gymnastics this past summer, and China took the silver
that the Chinese women looked so down like it was the end of the world. Where as
in the diving competition when the Chinese women would win Gold they looked like
it was expected. With the American diver there was so
Economics Of Corporate Finance Theory
Economics of Corporate Finance
Capital Asset Pricing Model is the foundation stone of modern finance theory. It
reveals the basic operation rules of the capital market and it is important in market
practice and theory research(). By use of this model, the relation between risk and
expected return is accurately predicted, and provides a method to estimate the yield
of potential investment projects and help us to predict the expected rate of return of
market in future. Although the Capital Asset Pricing Modelis not entirely consistent
with the empirical test, however, because of the simplicity of the model, it is still
widely used. A model may have highly realistic assumptions, but if it has no
predictive power, it is largely worthless. Most researchers have attempted to test the
CAPM to see if it works, looking at the relationship between observed beta values
and average returns(). One phenomenon is that the actual slope of the Security
Market Line is slightly less than the predicted slope of the CAPM. This essay is
going to discuss potential explanations of this phenomenon.
Most researchers test the CAPM by the basis of risk premiums , and the model is:
E[R_i ]= r_f+ОІ_i (E[R_Mkt ] r_f), then it minus the risk free return from both side
and add an intercept term О± into this model, the intercept term should be zero, we
can see new equation: E[R_i ] r_f= О±+ОІ_i (E[R_Mkt ] r_f). In this model, the beta
is used to measure the systematic risk between investment and stock

The Effects Of Water Pollution On The World And It...
Water pollution is one of the most undesirable environmental problems in the world
and it requires solutions. Textile industries produce a lot of wastewater, which
contains a number of contaminants, including acidic or caustic dissolved solids,
toxic compounds, and any different dyes, many of these dyes are carcinogenic,
mutagenic, and toxic to human beings, fish species, and microorganisms. Hence,
their removal from aquatic wastewaterbecomes environmentally important.
There are several methods available for color removal from waters and wastewaters
such as membrane separation, aerobic and anaerobic degradation using various
microorganisms, chemical oxidation, coagulation and flocculation, and reverse
osmosis. Some of these techniques have been shown to be effective however they
have some limitations such as excess amount of chemical usage, accumulation of
concentrated sludge that has serious disposal problems and lack of effective color
reduction. The adsorption technique, which is based on the transfer of pollutants from
the solution to the solid phase, is known as one of the efficient and general
wastewater treatment method
The method is superior to other dye removal techniques in terms of initial cost,
simplicity of design, ease of operation, and non toxicity of the utilized adsorbents
compared to other conventional wastewater treatment methods.
The cost effectiveness, availability and adsorptive properties are the main criteria in
selection of an adsorbent to remove
Analysis Of Antigone By Sophocles

of this play is Greek tragic, it comes after two other plays where as in the first one
Oedipus was supposed to end up being the king so he killed his father and wanted

meetings with Theseus, the King of Athens. Antigonemain properties of a Greek

Now for who I think the protagonist of the play is I would say Antigone, one main

manufactured using common household and industrial ingredients such as over the
counter cold/allergy medicines, drain cleaner, battery acid, gun cleaner, gasoline
additives, muriatic acid, ammonia, lye, acetone and kitty litter (Crystal Meth
Addiction.org. 2013).

The first difference is in how methamphetamine and cocaine metabolize in the body.
Cocaine metabolizes much quicker than methamphetamine, 50% is eliminated in the
first hour with the primary affects lasting about half an hour. Many regular cocaine
users fail to achieve the same degree of high with regular cocaine use as they did
from their first time using the drug. As a result, it is common for a cocaine user to
increase the amount of cocaine they are taking to make their high more intense and
prolonged (Crystal Meth Addiction.org. 2013). Methamphetamine on the other hand,
metabolizes approximately 50% of the dosage used in the first twelve hours, meaning
is stays in the body for much longer. The high associated with Methamphetamine lasts
between eight and twelve hours. Since methamphetamine stays in the body much
longer, it has more time to cause damage to the brain and vital organs. When we
examine the ingredients contained in methamphetamine (drain cleaner, battery acid,
gun cleaner, gasoline additives, muriatic acid, ammonia, lye, acetone and kitty litter)
we can see that most of the ingredients are toxic and should not be consumed by
humans (Crystal Meth Addiction.org.
Maya Angelou Caged Bird
Maya Angelou poem s Caged Bird is a comparison between the lives of two bird.
The free bird is able to live his life freely chasing worms while the caged bird can
only sing for freedom. In Beloved, the characters that escape from slavery
transform from a caged bird to a free bird. Although, they are free, the memory of
the past continues to torment them. By understanding Angelou s poem, the readers
can connect to Paul D and Sethe s mentality. Angelou uses imagery and structure to
illustrate the lives of the two birds. While the free bird can see the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky (line 6 7) the other bird can seldom see through his bars
of rage (10 11) The readers can compare how the birds see their environment. Unlike
the free bird, the caged birds cannot see the world around him. Additionally, the free
bird has the fat worms waiting on a dawn bright lawn . . . but a... Show more content

Although they find freedom by escaping from Sweet Home, Paul D and Sethe
carries the scars of slavery like the birds with his clipped wings. In Georgia, Paul D
is chained into a cage like the caged bird. He flies to freedom by following the tree
blossom to the North. Still, Paul D is trap due to the tobacco tin buried in his chest
where a red heart used to be (Morrison, 89) and is plagued by the contents. (271)
The tobacco tin contains memories of the iron bit from Sweet Home, his

move on until he accepts and opens up to Sethe at the end of the novel. For Sethe,
124 is her cage. Her sons escape the ghost of 124 by moving on from the past and join
the Union to fight the war against slavery. Sethe views Beloved s death is the result
of slavery. Beloved s grave is also Sethe s grave of dreams (Angelou, 27) for a family.

Gender Stereotypes In The Song Straight Outta Vagina
Songs have been portraying society as far back in history as we can research. A
song that exemplifies society in a positive way is the song Straight Outta Vagina
by Pussy Riot on the album XXX. This song portrays women as strong and
independent, it also outlines some of the amazing things women have done
throughout history. This is shown though the imagery of women portrayed as
vaginas. Throughout the song, there are many examples of how Pussy Riot defies
gender stereotypes, fights gender norms, exemplifies gender performance, power,
and violence. Gender stereotypes are prevalent in all forms of media; Pussy Riot
is working against this idea. A verse that specifically defies gender stereotypes is in
the second verse. Vaginas gonna win the race, vagina gonna play in space (Pussy
Riot). Athleticism and space exploration is seen as more masculine in society. It is
also stereotyped because you might stereotype women as uninterested in sports.
This stereotype could keep you from noticing that many women engage in sports
(_____ 107). This is the point that Pussy Riot is pointing out. They are showing
that women win races too and women are interesting in space exploration despite
these stereotypes. A second lyric that defies these stereotypes is it goes to work, it
makes the beats, it s CEO, no rookie, from senator to bookie (Pussy Riot). These
types of jobs are stereotypically seen as masculine jobs. In the article The
Inarticulate Gender Bending Performance of Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah
Palin , Denise Oles points out that women still struggle to overcome stereotypical
notions regarding their ability to be strong leaders (Oles 353). This stereotype is
shown throughout history when you look at women s employment in leadership
positions and the way we as a society communicate with this notion. Pussy Riot is
saying that women are in these positions and they are represented in more than just
bookie jobs. Pussy Riot is known for producing songs that defy gender and sexual
norms, and this song, Straight Outta Vagina , is no exception. The language in the
song is the first gender norm that Pussy Riot is defying. The words vagina , pussy ,
and va jay jay , are not used in the common language because

This is a crucial element to have, as this type of prototyping can have the ability to
avoid the production of expensive physical prototypes (Zheng, Xie, Zou, Chen,

The Second Inaugural Address By Abraham Lincoln
The primary source I have chosen is the Second Inaugural Address by Abraham
Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln delivered his second inaugural address on March 4, 1865.
Lincoln delivered his address as the Civil War was drawing to a conclusion and the
final ends towards slavery. His address was to thousands of spectators, but was
intended for a national and international audience. Some of the conspirators involved
with Lincoln s assassination such as John Wilkes Booth, George Atzerodt, and John
Surratt were present in the crowd during the inauguration. Abraham Lincolnwas the
16th President of the United States. Abraham most importantly led the Civil War into
victory. He preserved the Union, abolished slavery, and strengthened the federal
government, while also modernizing the economy.
Lincoln s speech contained neither happiness nor sadness. Rather, the speech was a
reflection of the causes and meaning of war. The speech was greeted with
misunderstanding. Many thought Lincoln would provide a victory speech for the
North or blame the South for the evil of slavery. Lincoln address only contains 703
words, which is also of the shortest inaugural addresses recorded. Throughout the
address, Lincoln mentions God, the Scripture, and invokes prayer. Frederick
Douglass, abolitionist leader, wrote in his journal, The address sounded more like a
sermon than a state paper (Autobiographies, 802).
Lincoln began his address in a overwhelm tone. Lincoln begins his speech, The

Michael Jackson Essay
Michael Jackson was born on August 29, 1958. He was one of ten children
growing up. Michael and his siblings grew up in a very strict home. He had many
conflicts with his father, who was physically and emotionally abusive. Michael s
music career began with the formation of The Jackson 5 in 1963, when he joined
his brothers, Jackie, Tito, Marlon, and Jermaine in their already booming musical
group. This was the start of Michael s singing career. He was only five years old at
this time, and went solo in 1971 at the young age of thirteen (Internet Movie
Database). His fame continued to grow, until 1993, when things took a turn for the
worse. Michael was accused of child sexual abuse. He denied these claims, and the

He later said that it was a huge mistake that he regrets doing. A year later, Michael
was charged with seven counts of molestation and two counts of administering an
intoxicating agent to a 13 year old male child. Michael was recorded holding hands
and making plans to share a bed with the boy (Internet Movie Database).
Throughout his life, Michael also struggled with Body Dysmorphic Disorder,
which means that he viewed himself and his body in a defected and morphed way.
Michael may have developed this disorder because he was diagnosed with vitiligo,
which is a loss of pigmentation in the skin. Michael died on June 25th, 2009 of
drug induced cardiac arrest at the age of 50 (Merkin, 2009). Using the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders IV, Axis I deals with Clinical
Syndromes. Michal Jackson was diagnosed with Panic Disorder, Body Dimorphic
Disorder and Depression. Axis II is called Developmental Disorders and
Personality Disorders. This axis is relevant to developmental and personality
disorders, which, in my opinion, do not apply to Jackson. Dealing with physical
conditions is Axis III, which he did not suffer from either. Severity of Psychosocial
Stressors, Axis IV, is where you explain and rate the events in a person s life to cause
the disorders listed in Axis I and Axis II. These events for Michael were abuse as a
child (severe), the death of his brother at a young age (moderate), the loss of
childhood because of his singing
The Nature Of The Polar Bear
The scientific name for the polar bear is Ursus maritimus. However, it has many
other names as well, such as sea bear, ice bear, lord of the Arctic, and old man in
the fur cloak. Despite all the different names, one thing is for sure, the polar bear s
body has been constructed perfectly to deal with the seasonal shifts in the Arctic.
The fur of a polar bear acts as a dense insulator, preventing almost all heat loss. In
fact, adult males can overheat from running. The fur is transparent with a hollow
core that scatters and reflects visible light, making it appear white, just like what
happens with snow and ice. The skin of a polar bear is black, and it covers up a layer
of fat that can be up to 4.49 inches thick. This thick layer of fat helps keep the polar
bear warm in the water, since wet fur acts as a poor insulator. The polar bear s
small round ears and short, compact tail also help conserve heat. Their large paws,
approximately 11.81 inches across, are covered with papillae which help from
slipping on ice. To complete the challenge of crossing thin ice, the polar bear
extends its legs far apart while lowering its body to distribute its weight evenly. This
action helps it survive on its home range of sea ice, which can be quite large,
expanding far greater than any other species of bear.
A polar bear s home range depends on both habitat quality and prey availability.
Polar bears mainly depend on seals for their high fat content and can eat 100 pounds
of blubber
Gloria Estefan s Accomplishments
This year s Kennedy Center Honorees included Singer/Songwriter Lionel Richie,
Screenwriter and Creator Norman Lear, Singer/Conga Queen Gloria Estefan,
Dancer Carmen de Lavallade and Hip Hop Mogul LL Cool J. Dec. 3 marked the
40th anniversary of the annual Kennedy Center Honors held in Washington D.C.
The Kennedy Center Honors have been highly talked about in the news after
President Trump made headlines for saying that he will not be in attendance for
this year s honors. This was the first time in 20 years that the President was not in
attendance and the first ever for non diplomatic reasons. However, without the
President in attendance the show was still a night to remember. The honorees
were all excited and thrilled to be added to this new class of Kennedy Center
Honorees. This class included many of firsts from Gloria Estefan being the first
Cuban artist to be honored to LL Cool J being the youngest and first Hip Hop Artist
to be honored, and Norman Lear being the oldest. Gloria Estefan, the Queen of

Mental Health Restraints
Deveau and Leitch challenge the idea of restraints being positive for a pediatric
mental health setting. Restraining children may lead to physical and mental harm for
children subject to such practices (Deveau, Leitch, 2014, p. 588). Presented earlier
was the idea that restraints used on a pediatric patient should ultimately be beneficial
to the patient and those within the patient s environment. Unfortunately, that may not
always be the case. Like other nursing interventions, risk factors are also associated
with restraints. Deveau and Leitch s performed a studied and gathered that within the
United States of America there were 142 restraintrelated deaths within a one year
time span (2014, p. 588). Blood clots, restricted breathing and blunt trauma, abrasions
and bruising may also be associated with risk factors that may occur during physical
interventions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Agencies have been regulating policies to help advocate the reduction of seclusions
and/or restraint within the mental health setting due to all the associated risk factors
and non beneficial outcomes due to this practice (Timbo et.al., 2015, p. 771). After
reviewing multiple articles the majority have the same concern, which is the risk
factors associated with restraints and seclusions and the impact it may have on the
patient themselves and/or the involved staff member(s). Secluding and restraining a
child does not only involve the staff member affects that staff member who had to
perform the act on a child or adolescent. Deveau and Leitch draw to our attention that
restraints are distressing to witnesses and many children who have experienced
previous trauma abuse (2014, p. 588). Re traumatizing the patient will interfere with a
patient s set treatment plan; this setback is not in the best interest of the
Napoleon Bonaparte Essay
Napoleon Bonaparte
Corsica is a rugged island in the Mediterranean, which lies sixty miles off the coast
of Italy. The Corsicans are proud and independent people. In 1768, when the French
took over the island from Genoa, an Italian state, the Corsicans rebelled and fought
for their freedom. But they were unsuccessful. Their leader, Pasquale Paoli, was
driven into exile.
Several months later, on August 15, 1769, Napoleon Bonaparte was born in
Ajaccio, a major port on the island. He was the second born son of the family. His
real name was Napoleone Buonaparte, but as a young man, he decided to give his
name a French spelling. He did this because he had his mind set on a military career
in France, and he didn t want his Italian sounding ... Show more content on

One student, though, decided to challenge Napoleon. While his companions egged
him on, he barged into the garden and started to tear it apart. With a vicious look in
Napoleon s eye, He threw himself at the boy. He sent him hurtling through the fence,
splintering it in several places. The boy sprawled on the ground. Jumping on him,
Napoleon pummeled him with his fists until the boy gave up; then Napoleon let him
go. As the years at Brienne went by, he slowly gained the respect of his fellow
students.
Napoleon s mother was left penniless, with eight children to take care of. Napoleon
decided to earn his military commission as quickly as possible so that he could start
helping her out financially. Working day and night, he completed the courses at the
Military College within the year, though the program usually took two to three years.
At sixteen he graduated with the rank of lieutenant and was assigned to an artillery
unit. Napoleon had specialized in artillery at the Military College, because he
understood its importance in warfare and wanted to learn how cannons could most
effectively be used in battles.
During the next few years he devoted himself to reading about military science,
history, and political theory. Napoleon was garrisoned in various cities in France, but
he also spent much of his time in Corsica. When he was on military duty he often
worked from four o clock in the morning until ten at night.
Moral Issues In Brave New World
Within great texts reside conflicts which authors employ to educate us on our own
definitions of what is moral, as it allows us to gain vicarious experience of how we
would react to certain quandaries within our day to day actions. This idea of moral
justification through ethical friction is exemplified within the texts Mice by
Gordon Reece and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. The conflict within these
great texts and others who similarly discuss moral standpoints creates societal
benefit as we can apply these conundrums that we experience vicariously in to
tangible change within our lives where we see fit. This is applicable to the real
world, as a world which is morally educated to the relevant ethical standards is a
world with less conflict,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These conflicts are beneficial if dealt with before the problem occurs, as humanity
will already have some sort of a plan in place, and will lead us to the path of a
utopian society as decided by society, rather than a dystopia where free will is
illusion for example. This conflict is imperative to great texts as they can become a
method of revealing social issues and the flaws within our society. In the text,
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, Huxley highlights moral issues of free will
with the line, But I don t want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real
danger, I want freedom, and I want goodness. I want sin , and Huxley places his own
moral standpoint to the audience. The Anaphora within the quote is used to engage
the reader, as they will anticipate the next I want and feel involved and emotionally
affected. The audience feels the struggles the characters face and empathise with the
characters. They then think past the book and towards what possible events could
happen in the future. They are then faced with a moral struggle between the ideas of
freedom vs comfort, and eventually lead to the idea of right vs wrong. The struggles
within this text become a device to highlight future issues, and will help humanity in
the future to ascertain a more utopian society by humankind s standards. This makes
the conflict the metaphorical heart of the text as it can represent not only issues about
freedom, but about many future moral issues and the effects of imposing choices
which limit

The Relationship Between Eloi and the Morlocks in The Time Machine by H.G. Wells

in 1895 by Herbert George Wells, the father of modern science fiction. Wells used
the novel to get the messages across on social and political problems at the time
when London was on top of the world. The novel criticized mainly on communism,
imperialism, capitalism, as well as Social Darwinism. The Time Machine was an

The sight of the Elois reminded the Time Traveler of communism, which was one
of the themes in the novel, since they were all alike. Not only did they have

a flash, I perceived that all had the same form of costume, the same soft hairless
visage, and the same girlish rotundity of limb, (Wells, 31). Regardless of their
physical similarities, the Time Traveler could not distinguish the age and the gender
of the Elois since they all looked the same. He believed that this was a result of the
world without troubles or fear, in which he criticized.
The theme of degeneration was apparent in this novel especially with the Elois.
Not only were they weak and childlike, but they also did not work or study. All they
did was to play, sleep, eat, bath, and laugh all day long. The Elois were stupid and
lazy. They also could not concentrate for a long period of time and they did not
have much interest as seen when the Time Traveler was trying to tell them where he

Why, a gay couple not be allowed to participate in the ultimate expression of love a marriage? However, the idea of gay marriage has not gained acceptance in this country. Americans, like all human beings, are naturally resistant to change. Humans are especially resistant to change when it has shoved down their throats, which is what many see it done by the liberal courts nowadays. As we have seen with blacks quest for civil rights, change must come gradually over time; otherwise, unrest and further division created. In addition, the history of gay marriage spans decades, even centuries of undocumented ceremonies and commitments. Denmark became a trailblazing country, leading the way for the concept of registering same sex couples in what we know as a civil union. This pioneering country voted on a law to register domestic partnership of gay couples on May 26, 1989. With the help of your donations and fundraising, we can make these children cheerful once again. However, one may wonder how does Make A Wish establish credibility in the audience to receive these donations? Is it the way that the sickly children smile, almost begging please give us money ? Or is it because Make A Wish already has such an honest reputation? To know for sure, one must take a deeper look into the appeal of The Make A Wish website. The Make A Wish logo is centralized on the top of the page with links left and right of it that say REFER A CHILD, WAYS TO HELP, and, the most prominent, DONATE. Further down the page, there is a Youtube video that in more detail, describes what Make A Wish is doing and how one can help. Yet, back onto the top main page, David s bright blue eyes are the exact

Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are both commissioned by the King to spy on Hamlet and they easily comply with him because they care about Hamlet no more than they care about themselves, But we both obey, and here give up ourselves to lay our service freely at your feet, to be commanded. (2.2.31 34). After his father s death, he experiences an emotional and mental crisis on whether or not he should trust the people around him. Shakespeare puts Hamlet and his relationship with his university friends in this situation as to relay a message that trust is a breakable bond, and that no matter how close Hamlet is to someone, he has to build his walls around himself so that he won t be vulnerable to their inevitable attack. At this point in the novel their society has its first hopes of rescue and success. The fire symbolizes the society wanting saved from the island and the burning hope that it may one day happen. The Beast also appeared throughout the story as the fear of the society not succeeding and the apparent danger they were in. Piggy doesn t believe that the fear is real. He states that I know there isn t no beast not with claws and all that, I mean but I know there isn t no fear, either (Golding, 83). The beast represents the evil of the boys and the darkness that surrounds the society. Jack on the other hand believes that the beast is real and says Bollocks to the rules! We re strong we hunt! If there s a beast, we ll hunt it down! We ll close in and beat and beat and beat ! (Golding, 102). Jack believes that the beast can be hunted down but the beast is a symbolism for the fear inside of each and every one of them. The beast cannot be hunted or killed because the beast is them. Golding s great use of imagery confused readers at first but is deep and meaningful in the plot. The use of the beast, fire, and the
  • 8. Correlation Between Consumption Of Cigarettes And Price Interpretation of the Findings This study s framework was of a statistical nature. The researchers took statistical data from two different years and compared them against each other, with the only changing variable between the years was an increase in sales tax on tobacco products. The data that was collected indicated that there was a decrease in tobaccosales compared to the year before. Thus, validating the null hypothesis by showing a direct relationship between consumption of cigarettes and price. By looking at the observed ration of reduced consumption to increased price ( 12.1%: 30.2% = 0.40) we can estimate the price elasticity. This elasticity shows the responsiveness of the demand of the product versus its change in price. This ratio was an expected value and shows direct correlation to consumption of tobacco products and there price and is consistent with similar studies done on tax increases on tobacco (Amato, et al., (2015). Limitations However, this increase in taxes was the highest tax increase in a decade in Minnesota. This study was also limited in that it only looked at convenience stores only and was to one specific area. Even with the stated 63% of all cigarettes being bought in these stores it limits the study but not looking at all places where cigarettes are sold. It also limited the types of cigarettes purchased. This study only looked at three types of cigarette sells and do not include the purchase of cartons. Even though cartons

Racial Tension Between Black And White Americans Jenifer Coderko History 7B Professor Matthews November 11 2014 Essay 4 The term The Negro Problem was used throughout the 1950 s and 60 s as a slang description of the racial tension between black and white Americans. The two essays in The Fire Next Time talk about the problem that the African Americancommunity faced, but from different perspectives. The author is writing to his nephew and is trying to make him understand that the situation is intolerable and not likely to change. He suggests that instead of reacting from a place of anger and hate, that the nephew should fight and strive to change the situation rather than confronting it violently. That his nephew and even the community as a whole should try to almost outsmart the whites by being the opposite of what they think of them. To prove them wrong and hopefully change the way they are looked at. He suggests a change of attitudes on both sides, to spread love and understanding instead of hate and animosity. It is radiant energy that is all around us and takes many forms whether it be visible, such as, visible light, or invisible electromagnetic radiations, such as radio waves, infrared light, sunlight, and x rays. Electromagnetic radiation covers a large spectrum of wavelengths, these waves of radiant energy have different usage according to their energy, in example; the rays from the sun, sunlight is vital to life on earth, radio waves allow us to communicate, microwaves allow us to cook our foods, infrared radiation provides us with warmth/heat, visible light illuminate and is also used essentially for growth of our trees, flowers, and the many foods we grow on earth, ultraviolet rays, which also comes from the sun, provide us with Vitamin D which is vital for our bones, and x rays are used for medical diagnostic such as diagnosing a fractured or broken bone or pathology, it is also used in airports to check our luggage and help us be safe onboard to our paradise destinations. Gamma rays are used in the medical field to sterilize surgical equipments, it is also used to sterilize baby nipples, and cosmetic products, just to name a few; And for the past 60 years or so, the combination of Radiation, Cobalt 60, Cesium 137, and Gamma Rays have been used for Irradiating food. What is Food Irradiation you ask?

Future Expansion: This project could also include a multimeter and curve tracer. It could also be improved by having a higher voltage and a better regulated power supply. The function generator could also have higher bandwidth and frequency. Cost: Estimated total cost is $316. Introduction: When we visualized our senior project, we decided that engineering and electronic students in college could make use of portable, inexpensive, simple equipment in order to demonstrate concepts off campus. This equipment would not necessarily have all of the functionality and versatility of the lab equipment, but it would be useful in demonstrating concepts. The current lab equipment is great for school, but if students have a need to use the equipment at home such as to finish labs, learn more, or just hobby use, they are left without an inexpensive alternative with the equipment currently on the market. Our solution was to address these issues with our project which we named Lab In A Box. This would allow students to have a portable oscilloscope, power supply, and function generator at a greatly reduced cost. The labs performed usually only requires low bandwidth and low voltage equipment. The power supplies in the labs are DC with the capability of +6V and В±25V. The function generator is a 15MHz waveform generator that is capable of sine, square, triangle, and saw tooth waveforms. The

The same goes for those of different cultures. It could be the traditions in how they are brought up as children and what they are taught to believe at an early age. In America we are continually told about the American Dream which is the portrait of the perfect family in a Norman Rockwell painting, the perfect job, the house with the white picket fence and no problems where everybody looks happy and acts as if they are happy; this would be a stereotype of what happiness looks like. Happiness is based on what is going on around the culture as a whole and not the individual. Asian cultures and traditions do not look at happiness as a major experience in the realm of life experiences. They regard happiness and all emotions as temporary states of the mind and continue on with their day as if nothing happened. Asian cultures are more apt to view well being by how they are seen as a family or country by those around them in their community which is very critical for the Asian cultures. Whereas Americans are more individualistic in this sense for we are always looking to be better than the next person. A good example of the difference between Asian cultures and America would be the Olympic Games. Children from most other countries than the USA are literally taken from homes at early ages and it is their job to bring home the gold medal for their country. It is put in their heads at an early age that this is their meaning in life and that if they don t succeed that they will be bringing failure not only to themselves but to their family and country if they don t succeed. This is why when America took the gold in women s gymnastics this past summer, and China took the silver that the Chinese women looked so down like it was the end of the world. • 34. Economics Of Corporate Finance Theory Economics of Corporate Finance Capital Asset Pricing Model is the foundation stone of modern finance theory. It reveals the basic operation rules of the capital market and it is important in market practice and theory research(). By use of this model, the relation between risk and expected return is accurately predicted, and provides a method to estimate the yield of potential investment projects and help us to predict the expected rate of return of market in future. Although the Capital Asset Pricing Modelis not entirely consistent with the empirical test, however, because of the simplicity of the model, it is still widely used. A model may have highly realistic assumptions, but if it has no predictive power, it is largely worthless. Most researchers have attempted to test the CAPM to see if it works, looking at the relationship between observed beta values and average returns(). One phenomenon is that the actual slope of the Security Market Line is slightly less than the predicted slope of the CAPM. This essay is going to discuss potential explanations of this phenomenon. Most researchers test the CAPM by the basis of risk premiums , and the model is: E[R_i ]= r_f+ОІ_i (E[R_Mkt ] r_f), then it minus the risk free return from both side and add an intercept term О± into this model, the intercept term should be zero, we can see new equation: E[R_i ] r_f= О±+ОІ_i (E[R_Mkt ] r_f). In this model, the beta is used to measure the systematic risk between investment and stock

  • 36. The Effects Of Water Pollution On The World And It... Water pollution is one of the most undesirable environmental problems in the world and it requires solutions. Textile industries produce a lot of wastewater, which contains a number of contaminants, including acidic or caustic dissolved solids, toxic compounds, and any different dyes, many of these dyes are carcinogenic, mutagenic, and toxic to human beings, fish species, and microorganisms. Hence, their removal from aquatic wastewaterbecomes environmentally important. There are several methods available for color removal from waters and wastewaters such as membrane separation, aerobic and anaerobic degradation using various microorganisms, chemical oxidation, coagulation and flocculation, and reverse osmosis. Some of these techniques have been shown to be effective however they have some limitations such as excess amount of chemical usage, accumulation of concentrated sludge that has serious disposal problems and lack of effective color reduction. The adsorption technique, which is based on the transfer of pollutants from the solution to the solid phase, is known as one of the efficient and general wastewater treatment method The method is superior to other dye removal techniques in terms of initial cost, simplicity of design, ease of operation, and non toxicity of the utilized adsorbents compared to other conventional wastewater treatment methods. The cost effectiveness, availability and adsorptive properties are the main criteria in selection of an adsorbent to remove

Cocaine metabolizes much quicker than methamphetamine, 50% is eliminated in the first hour with the primary affects lasting about half an hour. Many regular cocaine users fail to achieve the same degree of high with regular cocaine use as they did from their first time using the drug. As a result, it is common for a cocaine user to increase the amount of cocaine they are taking to make their high more intense and prolonged (Crystal Meth Addiction.org. 2013). Methamphetamine on the other hand, metabolizes approximately 50% of the dosage used in the first twelve hours, meaning is stays in the body for much longer. A song that exemplifies society in a positive way is the song Straight Outta Vagina by Pussy Riot on the album XXX. This song portrays women as strong and independent, it also outlines some of the amazing things women have done throughout history. This is shown though the imagery of women portrayed as vaginas. Throughout the song, there are many examples of how Pussy Riot defies gender stereotypes, fights gender norms, exemplifies gender performance, power, and violence. Gender stereotypes are prevalent in all forms of media; Pussy Riot is working against this idea. A verse that specifically defies gender stereotypes is in the second verse. Vaginas gonna win the race, vagina gonna play in space (Pussy Riot). Athleticism and space exploration is seen as more masculine in society. It is also stereotyped because you might stereotype women as uninterested in sports. This stereotype could keep you from noticing that many women engage in sports (_____ 107). This is the point that Pussy Riot is pointing out. They are showing that women win races too and women are interesting in space exploration despite these stereotypes. A second lyric that defies these stereotypes is it goes to work, it makes the beats, it s CEO, no rookie, from senator to bookie (Pussy Riot). These types of jobs are stereotypically seen as masculine jobs. In the article The Inarticulate Gender Bending Performance of Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin , Denise Oles points out that women still struggle to overcome stereotypical notions regarding their ability to be strong leaders (Oles 353). This stereotype is shown throughout history when you look at women s employment in leadership positions and the way we as a society communicate with this notion. Pussy Riot is saying that women are in these positions and they are represented in more than just bookie jobs. Pussy Riot is known for producing songs that defy gender and sexual norms, and this song, Straight Outta Vagina , is no exception. • 44. The Nature Of The Polar Bear The scientific name for the polar bear is Ursus maritimus. However, it has many other names as well, such as sea bear, ice bear, lord of the Arctic, and old man in the fur cloak. Despite all the different names, one thing is for sure, the polar bear s body has been constructed perfectly to deal with the seasonal shifts in the Arctic. The fur of a polar bear acts as a dense insulator, preventing almost all heat loss. In fact, adult males can overheat from running. The fur is transparent with a hollow core that scatters and reflects visible light, making it appear white, just like what happens with snow and ice. The skin of a polar bear is black, and it covers up a layer of fat that can be up to 4.49 inches thick. This thick layer of fat helps keep the polar bear warm in the water, since wet fur acts as a poor insulator. The polar bear s small round ears and short, compact tail also help conserve heat. Their large paws, approximately 11.81 inches across, are covered with papillae which help from slipping on ice. To complete the challenge of crossing thin ice, the polar bear extends its legs far apart while lowering its body to distribute its weight evenly. This action helps it survive on its home range of sea ice, which can be quite large, expanding far greater than any other species of bear. A polar bear s home range depends on both habitat quality and prey availability. Polar bears mainly depend on seals for their high fat content and can eat 100 pounds of blubber

Restraining children may lead to physical and mental harm for children subject to such practices (Deveau, Leitch, 2014, p. 588). Presented earlier was the idea that restraints used on a pediatric patient should ultimately be beneficial to the patient and those within the patient s environment. Unfortunately, that may not always be the case. Like other nursing interventions, risk factors are also associated with restraints. Deveau and Leitch s performed a studied and gathered that within the United States of America there were 142 restraintrelated deaths within a one year time span (2014, p. 588). Blood clots, restricted breathing and blunt trauma, abrasions and bruising may also be associated with risk factors that may occur during physical interventions... Agencies have been regulating policies to help advocate the reduction of seclusions and/or restraint within the mental health setting due to all the associated risk factors and non beneficial outcomes due to this practice (Timbo et.al., 2015, p. 771). After reviewing multiple articles the majority have the same concern, which is the risk factors associated with restraints and seclusions and the impact it may have on the patient themselves and/or the involved staff member(s). Secluding and restraining a child does not only involve the staff member affects that staff member who had to perform the act on a child or adolescent. Deveau and Leitch draw to our attention that restraints are distressing to witnesses and many children who have experienced previous trauma abuse (2014, p. 588). Re traumatizing the patient will interfere with a patient s set treatment plan; this setback is not in the best interest of the

He was the second born son of the family. His real name was Napoleone Buonaparte, but as a young man, he decided to give his name a French spelling. With a vicious look in Napoleon s eye, He threw himself at the boy. He sent him hurtling through the fence, splintering it in several places. The boy sprawled on the ground. Jumping on him, Napoleon pummeled him with his fists until the boy gave up; then Napoleon let him go. As the years at Brienne went by, he slowly gained the respect of his fellow students. Napoleon s mother was left penniless, with eight children to take care of. Napoleon decided to earn his military commission as quickly as possible so that he could start helping her out financially. During the next few years he devoted himself to reading about military science, history, and political theory. Napoleon was garrisoned in various cities in France, but he also spent much of his time in Corsica. When he was on military duty he often worked from four o clock in the morning until ten at night.
  • 48. Moral Issues In Brave New World Within great texts reside conflicts which authors employ to educate us on our own definitions of what is moral, as it allows us to gain vicarious experience of how we would react to certain quandaries within our day to day actions. This idea of moral justification through ethical friction is exemplified within the texts Mice by Gordon Reece and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. The conflict within these great texts and others who similarly discuss moral standpoints creates societal benefit as we can apply these conundrums that we experience vicariously in to tangible change within our lives where we see fit. This is applicable to the real world, as a world which is morally educated to the relevant ethical standards is a world with less conflict,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These conflicts are beneficial if dealt with before the problem occurs, as humanity will already have some sort of a plan in place, and will lead us to the path of a utopian society as decided by society, rather than a dystopia where free will is illusion for example. This conflict is imperative to great texts as they can become a method of revealing social issues and the flaws within our society. In the text, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, Huxley highlights moral issues of free will with the line, But I don t want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I want real danger, I want freedom, and I want goodness. I want sin , and Huxley places his own moral standpoint to the audience. The Anaphora within the quote is used to engage the reader, as they will anticipate the next I want and feel involved and emotionally affected. The audience feels the struggles the characters face and empathise with the characters. They then think past the book and towards what possible events could happen in the future. They are then faced with a moral struggle between the ideas of freedom vs comfort, and eventually lead to the idea of right vs wrong. The struggles within this text become a device to highlight future issues, and will help humanity in the future to ascertain a more utopian society by humankind s standards. This makes the conflict the metaphorical heart of the text as it can represent not only issues about freedom, but about many future moral issues and the effects of imposing choices which limit

Regardless of their physical similarities, the Time Traveler could not distinguish the age and the gender of the Elois since they all looked the same.
