The Wood 103 was built as a demonstration of how simple it is to produce energy from scratch using mostly wood and hand tools. It produces 100 watts in winds over 30 mph using a wooden frame, permanent magnets from computer hard drives, and wire wound into coils. While not intended for permanent use, it shows how renewable energy can be generated in remote locations with minimal resources. The design uses a spinning wooden armature holding alternating polarity magnets to induce current in stationary coils, with rectification converting it to DC for battery charging.
