This document provides an outline for a research article template, including preliminary materials, the body of the paper divided into five sections (Introduction, Review of Literature, Methodology, Results, and Discussion), and reference materials. The sections include subsections describing the necessary components of each part, such as stating the problem and hypotheses in the Introduction, reviewing previous research and findings in the Literature section, and describing analytic techniques and findings as they relate to the hypotheses in the Results section.

a. General statement of the problem under investigation—why is it important? Of what benefit to the
profession is your study?
b. Statement of the hypotheses
c. Definition of terms—any special words used commonly in your study
Section II. Review of the Literature
a. Organization of Section
b. Review of previous research—who else has though about this? What did they learn?
c. Pertinent opinion/philosophical/historical basis
d. Summary of the state of the art
Section III. Methodology
a. Description of the subjects. How were they chosen?
b. Socioeconomic/demographic data
c. Description of measures employed (how were they developed? Why did you choose this or that
methodology/technique?
d. Research design and procedures, tests, materials, locations, timeframe
(any future researcher should be able to duplicate your study exactly based on reading this section)
Section IV. Results
a. Analytic techniques—statistical measures or otherwise.
b. Description of findings pertinent to each hypothesis—reject or accept your hypotheses from
Section I.
c. Other findings as appropriate
d. Summarize your findings.
Section V. Discussion
a. Summary of topic under consideration
b. Summary of hypotheses, method, and findings
c. Relate your findings to related literature from Section II (very important)
d. Discussion of findings—what do they mean?
