a study on various techniques on graphical password authentication.
A key area in security research is authentication. Access to system is mostly based on the use of alpha numeric passwords. User felt difficult in remembering the password as that is long and randomly selected and how many passwords will user remember?, it made a complex procedure.
It presents comparison between Persuasive Cued Click Point Graphical Password scheme and Improved Persuasive Cued Click Points. One such category is click-based graphical passwords where a password is composed of a series of clicks on one or more pixel-based images .To log in, user re-select their click-points in the correct order. Click-points that fall within some acceptable tolerance of the original points should be accepted by the system since it is unrealistic to expect users to accurately target individual pixels.

One of the most important topics in information security today is user authentication. User authentication is a fundamental component in most computer security contexts. It provides the basis for access control and user accountability. While there are various types of user authentication systems, alphanumeric passwords are the most common type of user authentication. They are versatile and easy to implement and use. However, it can either be long and secure or short and hard to remember. A graphical based password is one promising alternatives of textual passwords. According to human psychology, humans are able to remember pictures easily. In this paper, graphical passwords have been designed to try to make password more memorable and easier for people to use, and it is less vulnerable to brute force attacks than a text based password. The aim of the system is to implement a strong security. The proposed system segments the image like a grid, which has a maximum four fragments. Then, each segment of the image is dragged in a particular sequence onto an empty grid of size 6x6 and placed on a particular segment of the empty grid, to form the user' password. When the user logs into the system, the user needs to drag each segment of the image onto the same empty grid of size 6x6 in the correct sequence and position of the segments that user had specified during registration. ABSTRACT
Authentication based on passwords is used largely in applications for computer security and privacy. However, human actions such as choosing bad passwords and inputting passwords in an insecure way are regarded as ”the weakest link” in the authentication chain. Rather than arbitrary alphanumeric strings, users tend to choose passwords either short or meaningful for easy memorization. With web applications and mobile apps piling up, people can access these applications anytime and anywhere with various devices. This evolution brings great convenience but also increases the probability of exposing passwords to shoulder surfing attacks. Attackers can observe directly or use external recording devices to collect users’ credentials. To overcome this problem, we proposed a novel authentication system PassMatrix, based on graphical passwords to resist shoulder surfing attacks. With a one-time valid login indicator and circulative horizontal and vertical bars covering the entire scope of pass-images, PassMatrix offers no hint for attackers to figure out or narrow down the password even they conduct multiple camera-based attacks. We also implemented a PassMatrix prototype on Android and carried out real user experiments to evaluate its memorability and usability. From the experimental result, the proposed system achieves better resistance to shoulder surfing attacks while maintaining usability.

TEXTUAL passwords have been the most widely used authentication method for decades. Comprised of number sand upper- and lower-case letters, textual passwords are considered strong enough to resist against brute force
attacks. However, a strong textual password is hard to memorize and recollect .Therefore, users tend to choose passwords that are either short or from the dictionary, rather than random alphanumeric strings.
Various graphical password authentication schemes
were developed to address the problems and weaknesses associated with textual passwords. Based on some studies such as those in , humans have a better ability to memorize images with long-term memory(LTM) than verbal representations. Image-based passwords were proved to be easier to recollect in several user studies As a result, users can set up a complex authentication password and are capable of recollecting it after a long time even if the memory is not activated periodically.
The human actions such as choosing bad passwords for
new accounts and inputting passwords in an insecure way for later logins are regarded as the weakest link in the authentication chain [16]. Therefore, an authentication scheme should be designed to overcome these vulnerabilities.
In this paper, we present a secure graphical authentication system named Pass Matrix that protects users from becoming victims of shoulder surfing attacks when inputting passwords in public through the usage of one-time login indicators. A login indicator is randomly generated for each pass-image and will be useless after the session terminates. The login indicator provides better security against shoulder surfing attacks, since users use a dynamic pointer to point out the position of their passwords rather than clicking on
the password object directly.
Many security primitives are supported hard
mathematical problems. Passwords remain the foremost
widely used authentication method despite their well-known
security weaknesses. CAPTCHA authentication is clearly a
practical problem.

Study on analysis of commercial mobile keypad schemes and modeling of shoulde...csandit
As the use of smart phones and tablet PCs has exploded in recent years, there are many
occasions where such devices are used for treating sensitive data such as financial transactions.
Naturally, many types of attacks have evolved that target these devices. An attacker can capture
a password by direct observation without using any skills in cracking. This is referred to as
shoulder surfing and is one of the most effective methods. There is currently only a crude
definition of shoulder surfing. For example, the Common Evaluation Methodology (CEM)
attack potential of Common Criteria (CC), an international standard, does not quantitatively
express the strength of an authentication method against shoulder surfing. In this paper, we
introduce a shoulder surfing risk calculation method that supplements CC. Risk is calculated
first by checking vulnerability conditions one by one and the method of the CC attack potential
is applied for quantitative expression. We present a case study for security-enhanced qwertykeypad
and numeric-keypad input methods, and the commercially used mobile banking
applications are analyzed for shoulder surfing risks.

Security for Hard AI Problems Using CaRP Authenticationpaperpublications3
Abstract: Using hard AI problems for security is emerging as an exciting new paradigm, but has been underexplored. This approach present a new security primitive based on hard AI problems, namely, a novel family of graphical password systems built on top of Captcha technology, which is called Captcha as graphical passwords (CaRP). CaRP is both a Captcha and a graphical password scheme. CaRP addresses a number of security problems altogether, such as online guessing attacks, relay attacks, and, if combined with dual-view technologies, shoulder-surfing attacks. Notably, a CaRP password can be found only probabilistically by automatic online guessing attacks even if the password is in the search set.
Abstract: In an online security, authentication plays a crucial role in shielding resources against unauthorized and illegal use of information. Authentication processes may differ from simple password based authentication system to complex, costly and computation strengthened authentication systems. In recent days, increasing security has always been an important issue since Internet and Web Development came into actuality. Text based password is not enough to counter such problems, which is also an obsolete approach now. Consequently, this demands the need for something more secure along with being more user-friendly. Therefore, we have strained to rise the security by involving a multiple level security tactic, involving Text based using Cryptography, Grid Authentication and Image Based Password. The cryptography technique is very essential for the text based password while encrypting it with the principle of substitution method like Caesar Cipher. Session passwords are also necessary for eliminating the time factor attacks such as Brute Force attack. Grid Authentication makes the system more dynamic due ever changing nature. Image based authentication makes the system more user friendly, reliable and secure. Keywords: Cryptography, Grid Authentication, Image Based Password, Shoulder Attack.

How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A SHOULDER SURFING RESISTANT GRAPHICAL AUTHENTICATION
SYSTEM
ABSTRACT:
Authentication based on passwords is used largely in applications for computer
security and privacy. However, human actions such as choosing bad passwords
and inputting passwords in an insecure way are regarded as ”the weakest link”
in the authentication chain. Rather than arbitrary alphanumeric strings, users
tend to choose passwords either short or meaningful for easy memorization.
With web applications and mobile apps piling up, people can access these
applications anytime and anywhere with various devices. This evolution brings
great convenience but also increases the probability of exposing passwords to
shoulder surfing attacks. Attackers can observe directly or use external
recording devices to collect users’ credentials. To overcome this problem, we
proposed a novel authentication system PassMatrix, based on graphical
passwords to resist shoulder surfing attacks. With a one-time valid login
indicator and circulative horizontal and vertical bars covering the entire scope
of pass-images, PassMatrix offers no hint for attackers to figure out or narrow
down the password even they conduct multiple camera-based attacks. We also
implemented a PassMatrix prototype on Android and carried out real user
experiments to evaluate its memorability and usability. From the experimental
result, the proposed system achieves better resistance to shoulder surfing
attacks while maintaining usability.

CONCLUSION
With the increasing trend of web services and apps, users are able to access
these applications anytime and anywhere with various devices. In order to
protect users’ digital property, authentication is required every time they try
to access their personal account and data. However, conducting the
authentication process in public might result in potential shoulder surfing
attacks. Even a complicated password can be cracked easily through shoulder
surfing. Using traditional textual passwords or PIN method, users need to
type their passwords to authenticate themselves and thus these passwords
can be revealed easily if someone peeks over shoulder or uses video recording
devices such as cell phones. To overcome this problem, we proposed a
shouldersurfing resistant authentication system based on graphical
passwords, named PassMatrix. Using a one-time login indicator per image,
users can point out the location of their pass-square without directly clicking
or touching it, which is an action vulnerable to shoulder surfing attacks.
Because of the design of the horizontal and vertical bars that cover the entire
pass-image, it offers no clue for attackers to narrow down the password space
even if they have more than one login records of that account. Furthermore,
we implemented a PassMatrix prototype on Android and carried out user
experiments to evaluate the memorability and usability. The experimental
result showed that users can log into the system with an average of 1:64 tries
(Median=1), and the Total Accuracy of all login trials is 93:33% even two
weeks after registration. The total time consumed to log into PassMatrix with

an average of 3:2 pass-images is between 31:31 and 37:11 seconds and is
considered acceptable by 83:33% of participants in our user study. Based on
the experimental results and survey data, PassMatrix is a novel and easy-to-
use graphical password authentication system, which can effectively alleviate
shoulder-surfing attacks. In addition, PassMatrix can be applied to any
authentication scenario and device with simple input and output capabilities.
The survey data in the user study also showed that PassMatrix is practical in
the real world.
