father figure in her life. Her mother, Sarah married Philip Gough when Billie was just 5 years old
but unfortunately the marriagefailed. When she was only nine years old, Billie began skipping

Analysis Of Forester s A Passage Of India Essay
The characters Fielding and Aziz in E.M. Forester s A Passage to India differ greatly when it comes
to the integration and development of the intimate relationships in their lives. While Fielding starts
off having close to none of these vital relationships in his reality, he soon leaves behind this
meaningless way of life and begins interacting with people in more complex and intimate ways.
Aziz, on the other hand, seems to start the novel much more open to these relationships, forgetting
most of his initial aversions to foreigners and attempting to connect of a deeper emotional level
with the people around him. Approaching the end of the novel, however, Aziz experiences trauma
that causes him to shut down almost completely, casting him into a world with much fewer vital
relationships. Maybe this shows a maturing in both characters, as Fielding learns to be less guarded
and more involved with those around him while Aziz learns to be smarter about who he entrusts
with his friendship. When these fundamental human relationships are absent during stages of these
characters lives, an existence void of meaning and full of misunderstanding and conflict results, and
thus we see E.M. Forester s assertions about the importance of human intimacy proven as accurate.
Initially, there is a great dissimilarity between Fielding and Aziz when it comes to their level of
emotional involvement with others. Aziz is painted as an open character. He holds a strong
relationship with a woman who

The Symposium By Plato Analysis
In Plato s, The Symposium, there are a multitude of things that get discussed amongst the group
of men, one of those theories being the idea of beauty. To truly understand what Plato thinks
about beauty, you have to understand his idea of forms, and the Form of Beauty. He describes
this as an everlasting loveliness which never comes nor goes, which neither flowers nor fades .
The essence to understanding this form, is that we can realize all beautiful things share the Form
of Beauty. But only in their involvement with this form that they become beautiful. It is an
unchanging, absolute, and immortal form that cannot admit to anything less. The form itself is
not ugly or offensive, or it would cease to exist in the form . This idea is brought forth in The
Symposium when Socrates is talking about his encounter with Diotima and her story of the
Ladder of Love . This story gives us an understanding of how we should love and what it means
to be truly beautiful. Diotima shares with Socrates the process by which one can aquire these final
visions , and then they are explained to us. One begins as a young person by being attracted to
beautiful bodies, and to one beautiful body in particular. This produces beautiful discourses with
this body. Which does not necessarily mean sexual acts. A person could be attracted to another just
because their physical body is beautiful. The next stage is to... Show more content on

This beauty always exists, not coming into being or ceasing to be, nor increasing nor diminishing.
It is absolute beauty, not being beautiful only in some respects or at some times it is as Plato calls
the one . Beauty will not appear in certain bodies or in certain forms of knowledge or anywhere in
particular: it will appear in itself and by itself, independent of everything else. All beautiful things
share in its character, but these things in no way affect Beauty

Sun Also Rises Bullfighting
Bulls and bull fighting are the two most critical symbols in The Sun Also Rises. The bulls
symbolize passion, physicality, energy, and freedom. If that s not enough symbolic weight for
these poor little boy cows, in the bulls interactions with the bull fighters, they also come to
symbolize the act of sex. Each bull fight involves seduction, manipulation, maneuvering, and
penetration by the bull fighter of the bull. Yowza. It is significant that, of all the characters, Jake,
Brett, Romero, and Montoya are the most stirred by bull fighting. Romero s status as bull fighter
suggests that, unlike the novel s other male characters, he is capable of passionate love and sex.
Although Cohn clings to an illusion of love for Brett, he is repelled initially by the bull fights as
boring, then later as gruesome. These means, in the more than slightly messed up world that
Hemingway has created, that he s not a manly man.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After watching the bull fights, Brett is determined to be with Romero. Brett digs a man in tight
green pants who kills animals. Jake, it seems, strives to experience sensuality vicariously through
the bull fights (as he is unable to have sex himself). As an aficionado, Jake recognizes and loves the
passion of bull fighting, suggesting that he, too, is a passionate man. Jake s knowledge of bull
fighting empowers him to authoritatively describe the bull fights to

Jeremiah 17-9 Research Paper
The root of man s condition is reported in Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things,
and it is exceedingly corrupt: who can know it?
God as spoken through His prophet Jeremiah is for all intents and purposes exactly correct when
speaking of human nature. How quickly man would rather hates others than love them. Mankind is
quick to go to war over oil fields, land, and down right hate for one and another. This inescapable
truth is seen in today s headlines which are filled with atrocities of man against man.
With today s social media, some people are so blood thirsty that they see horrid be headings and
mass murder scenes as entertainment. Further, there are those that make their own videos of
daredevil acts, where the in process ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing George Orwell s Manor Farm To Animal Farm
By changing the name of Manor Farm to Animal Farm, the animals are establishing dominance
and are saying publically that they now own the land. The change of name makes the territory of
the animals; and makes surrounding farmers aware of what has happened. The name change was
also the last step in the rebellion for freedom. 2. The animals were all so easy to except squealer s
explanation because they didn t bother to understand what he was saying and also didn t think for
themselves. They continued to remain naГЇve to the events surrounding them and place enormous
amounts of trust into the pigs. Many of the animals would have also been too frightened to question
what Squealer actually meant due to the pressure of the dogs that surrounded... Show more content

The working class in Animal Farm can all been seen as incredibly naГЇve. The animals had a
tendency to do what was ordered and ask questions later; however by the time they began to
question the events it was already too late to ask. The animals often noticed the small changes
the pigs made, but never raised their voices to question it. An example of this was when clover
noticed that the fourth commandment, no animal shall sleep on a bed , had been changed to no
animals shall sleep on a bed with sheets . The pigs often took advantage of the working class
animals and were the only animals apart from the dogs who benefitted from it. Most animals were
easily persuaded and manipulated due to their lack of education; but also due to the fact that the
pigs were also far more intelligent. The fear and pressure that the pigs placed on the working
animals lead them becoming naГЇve and quiet towards any new events on the farm; leading them

Thomas Cochrane s Life And Life
Thomas Cochrane was born on December 14, 1775 in Annsfield, Scotland. He was the eldest son of
Archibald and Anna Gilchrist Cochrane, and had three brothers: Archibald, Basil and William.
Thomas received little to no formal schooling, which taught him to be self reliant and practical.
Thomas shared his eccentricity and intellectual curiosity with his father, a scientist and inventor. In
November of 1784, Anna Cochrane passed away. Soon after, Thomas was sent to Mr. Chauvet s
military academy in Kensington, London. His father had secured this role for Thomas through
aristocratic connections, however, it was not Thomas dream. In 1792, Thomas finished military
schooling, but decided to join the navy instead. Thankfully for Thomas, his uncle,... Show more

intense passion for understanding how things worked and how they could be improved. Over
the next two years, Thomas learned all aspects of a ship, including how to do each specialist
trade and how to handle a boat in all weather conditions. This practical working knowledge of a
ship and seamanship would prove to benefit him greatly when he commanded his own vessel. On
April 13, 1795, Cochrane joined the Africa, a 64 gun ship. He spent 5 weeks as acting lieutenant.
He eventually reboarded the Thetis as acting second lieutenant and waited for an official
promotion. These skills allowed Thomas to take the lieutenant s exams, which he passed in 1796.
Soon after, Cochrane was appointed as lieutenant on the flagship the Resolution. It was an
extremely peaceful boat; the officers got along and the crew was enjoyed their work, but cochrane
understood that promotion was not likely aboard the Resolution. In 1798, he reboarded his uncles

Saudi Arabia Is A Monarchy Built On The Foundation Of Islam
Saudi Arabia is located in the region of the Middle East and North Africa with a population of
28.3 million people. Our government is conflicted in regards to a difficult position in the debate
over climate change and the proposal to limit our carbon omissions by 15 percent in the next five
years. Our country, Saudi Arabia, has the world s largest oil reservesand an economy exclusively
centered on the export of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels are known to be the major drives of climate
change, thus causing a problematic deliberation for our government. Our country has an arid
climate, which is highly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change induced weather and

Each province includes its own council that is responsible for advising the governor as well as
dealing with the development aspect of the province. As Saudi Arabia is an Islamic State, our
judicial system is based on Islamic Law, with our King being the highest court of appeal (Sims,
2015).
Although we believe limiting carbon omissions by 15 percent in the next five years will reduce
our oil exports and contribute to a catastrophic decline for our economy, we are willing to
consider should there be a national enforcement mechanism. We are willing to pursue international
initiatives to contest the issues of climate change, although we are one of the largest oil
producing countries. In order to comply, we demand reimbursement in case of a future offset in
losses in oil revenue. We as a country understand the effects of global warming and the fact that
our future is deteriorated because of it. However, many of our people do not recognize climate
change as an immense issue that needs to be addressed. Many often believe that our climate in
Saudi Arabia is tremendously hot already; there is no point in limiting our carbon omissions, as the
chance of lost revenue is present. Additionally, with a growing economy, we will not have the
ability to maintain sufficient standards of living with possible dwelling oil reserve revenue. With
enforced compliance, being one of the richest countries in the world, will attempt to influence the

Mesa Verde National Park On The Colorado Plateau
Mesa Verde National Park on the Colorado Plateau contains many geological aspects of interest,
including its sedimentary rock layers, its canyons, its alcoves utilized by ancient people and
how these alcoves were formed. Mesa Verde National Park is located in the southwest corner of
Colorado, close to the Four Corners area, on top of a high mesa overlooking the Mancos River
(Harris et al. 2004). The park, covering 81 square miles, consists of several main sedimentary
formations that are characteristic to the park (Encyclopedia Britannica 2015). Canyons are carved
into the sedimentary rock, with the cave dwellings found high on their steep walls. These dwellings
are an especially unique aspect to the Mesa Verde National Park, and are built out of large alcoves.
The alcoves were produced by weathering and erosion of the sedimentary rock type. To better
understand how these alcoves formed, we must understand the geology of Mesa Verde National
Park and how it has developed over history.
First, we must examine the sedimentary formations; when they were formed, how they were
formed, and what materials they consist of. About ninety three to one hundred million years ago,
the Western Interior Seaway rolled through the North American continent, eventually reaching the
geographical area of today s Mesa Verde National Park (National Park Service2005). This sea
deposited a thick, hard sandstone base that is called Dakota Sandstone, although this layer is not
exposed in the park

Analysis Of Jonas Salk And The Conquest Of Polio

Jeffrey Kluger is a number one New York Times bestseller for his coauthoring of Apollo 13, but
Splendid Solution: Jonas Salk and the Conquest of Polio, much like the name suggests, is the story
of Jonas Salk and his great contribution to society with the polio vaccine. Kluger walks through
Jonas Salk s life starting with his father and mother, what they did, how they lived, and where
they were from. Kluger transitions into Salk s childhood and his serious nature. Kluger states:
Salk was...a serious boy, troubled by sometimes curious things. Rules seemed to grate him the
most. Not that he didn t expect a good rule when he came across one. (25). Kluger flows well
into talking about Salk s education, Salk meeting his wife, them getting married, and all places
that Salk worked in the different aspects of his life. Kluger does add bits and pieces of Basil O
Conner s and Franklin Delano Roosevelt s lives, in relation to polio and Jonas Salk s life at that
point in his career. Kluger goes into some detail about Salk s creation of the influenza vaccine, but
his main focus was on the polio vaccine. Salk used some of the techniques he learned from
creating the flu vaccine and applied them to the polio vaccine. Some of those techniques worked,
while others did not. Kluger goes into a lot of detail into Salk getting started working on the polio
vaccine and who funded his research. There was

Childrens Health Insurance Program
Improving Children s Health Insurance Program through Health Policy
Children s health correlates to the health of the nation. The health of a child is a direct factor of
adult health, productivity, and stability. If a nation has high morbidity and mortality rates for
children, it will negatively impact that society s growth and development. It is imperative that
children have health insurance and access to quality preventative and primary care, in order to foster
healthy development into adulthood. The Children s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) was
established as a part of the Balanced Budget Act of 1997, to acknowledge to millions of children
who lacked health coverage (American Academy of Pediatrics, 2014). CHIP is a federal and state...

However, nearly two thirds of the uninsured children in the United States remain eligible for
Medicaid or CHIP, but are not enrolled (Wachino Weiss, 2009, p. 3). An estimated, 7.5 million
children in the United States are uninsured, and 60% to 70% are eligible for public insurance
(Long et al., 2014, p. e788). Many children meet the requirements and eligibility for health care
insurance; however, a large percentage of children are still left uninsured. This is problematic
because if millions of children are uninsured, it increases their chances of illness and will have a
negative impact on their growth and development. The policy needs to be re evaluated so that
more children are insured and receive access to preventative and primary care. It is crucial that
children have access to healthcare coverage and, states do not create unnecessary stringent criteria
for eligibility; consequentially will decrease the coverage for low income children and families

In the early 1940s, the world was drawn into another world war that pitted the allied forces against
both Nazi Germany in the European theater and the Japanese in the Pacific theater. The attack on

I appreciate the usage the small bird as a symbol which can provoke such deep thoughts about
our life. For me, the nightingale s song is the symbols of beauty which should be really enjoyed.
It is this small bird who is free to fly wherever it wants to, singing its beautiful song and making
the world better and nicer for us. I really like the whole idea of John Keats having a moment for
himself listening to this sweet song and thinking about it and its originator. Our life can
sometimes be a little bit stressful. People deals with stress in different kinds of way. One of
them can be savouring of those moments that feels really nice, in which we can be left alone to
our thoughts. I think that it is really important to always look on the brighter side of life. My life
is sacred to me. I feel that people are given lives for some reason and it should be their duty to try
to live in the best possible way. Those small moments, sometimes similar to the one John Keats
experienced in the garden of his friend Charles Brown while listening to the nightingale5, are also
important. These moments can compensate for the suffering which sometimes comes to our days.
Life is a precious thing and we should savour it like the smallest breath of air. We should not
waste our time and energy on bad things which will not matter in the end. One moment our life is
in our lungs and in a few seconds it fades away.

Fallen Angels In America
Fallen Angels in America Tony Kushner s play Angels in America was set in the 1980s, amid
Ronald Reagan s administration. Many people believe that this play is political, since we hear a
significant amount about Reagan. Additionally, his administration has been largely criticized for its
negligence toward the AIDS crisis. Furthermore, numerous LGBT activists have blamed Reagan for
overlooking the epidemic since it was thought to be, for the most part, a disease that primarily
affected gay men and, perhaps not surprising, African Americans. Although, Tony Kushner s Angels
in America primarily focused on the AIDS epidemic in the United States, Kushner masterfully used
themes of political, racial, religious, hopelessness and whiteness, to unload the more profound
complexities inside the political views of the LGBTQ development... Show more content on

Consequently, for reasons unknown, a great deal. One fascinating association between these
two characters is the way they are both attached to the topic of Renditions of Reality.
Throughout the play, Prior experienced abnormal dreams while Harper, the Mormon housewife
of Joe Pitt, is engaged in discussions with an imaginary friend, Mr. Lies. These two characters
exist in another reality that is different from the rest of the cast. For example, in one scene Prior
and Harper meet in some sort of weird joint dream. They do not know each other, yet share this
odd and intense experience. In this scene, the two characters support each other to understand
their essential truths: Harper helps Prior see that even though he feels dejected and hopeless,
some part of him is not tainted while Prior reveals to Harper that her husband is a homosexual.
Harper clarifies that occasionally you can see things when you are on the threshold of revelation

One out of every two refugees is African. The enormity of Africa s refugee crisis has driven
international observers to take a hard look at how refugees are being handled by international
assistance agencies and governments. The following case study of refugees from Ethiopia in
Djibouti, based on information collected by CS s Refugee Research Project, increases problems
vital to refugee situations in Africaas well as the rest of the world. The Republic of Djibouti, one
of the smallest and poorest countries of the world, is located on the Red Sea. The country consists
of a gravelly desert landscape spanning the most active strategic harbor in the region. Djibouti s
population is mainly made up of Muslims with smaller numbers of Arabs and Europeans. Djibouti
has a very limited amount of natural resources to support its own residents. The country has a high
national unemployment rate, placing further economic pressure on the population. After
independence from France in 1977, Djibouti accepted tens of thousands of Tigrae, Somali,
Eritrean, Afars, Eritrean, and other refugees from Ethiopia. Djibouti is currently the host to over
30,000 refugees fleeing abuse in neighboring Ethiopia and war in Yemen. Djibouti continues to
deal with a protracted refugee crisis, having hosted more than 23,000 mainly Somali refugees, in
many cases for more than two decades, in the Ali Addeh and Holl Holl refugee camps. There are

The Controversy Of Kurt Cobain s Death
For over 20 years we have been told by media, investigators, and even those closest to Kurt
Cobain himself that his death was a suicide, but as more details are revealed and more people
come forward, there is one question that hangs in the air: Was Kurt Cobain murdered? On April
8, 1994, Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain was found dead in the greenhouse of his home in
Seattle, Washington. According to the coroner that examined Cobain, he had been dead about
three days before he was found (Grove). Only just four days before his death, he escaped from
Exodus Recovery Center, where he was staying to get help for his drug addiction. The same day
that he escaped was the last day that he ever spoke to his wife, Courtney Love. Although it is
widely believed that Kurt Cobain killed himself, with all the facts and evidence provided, it is
apparent and obvious that Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain. To begin, Kurt and Courtney s
marriage was failing. This was something that everyone around them could see. Kurt had been
planning to divorce Courtney and then move out of the country. This exasperated Courtney,
causing her to want to get back at Kurt for wanting to leave her and their two year old daughter.
This getting back at him would be achieved by killing him and acquiring all of his riches,... Show

Not only did Kurt supposedly shoot himself, but he had also been injected with three times the
lethal dose of heroin (Grant). There is no way that he would have been able to have that much
heroin in his system and still be functioning enough to shoot himself. Doctors all agree that as soon
as that much heroin hit his system, he would have either immediately gone unconscious or even
died. Also, there were no fingerprints on the shotgun he used to kill himself. How could that be
possible if he shot himself with it? Someone was obviously trying to cover their

Emotional Intelligence And Outline The Principles Of Self...
Draft 2/07/2016 develop and use ei
Assessment 1
Question 1. Explain emotional intelligence and outline the principles of self regulation and self
awareness.
Emotional intelligence is the ability an individual has to one identify their own emotions as well as
others, two understand and manage these emotions successfully in self and others, with being able
to effectively manage yourself as well as your relationships.
Self awareness can be considered essentially the bread and butter of all other competencies, it
means having the ability to recognise and understand your own emotions while being aware of how
these can affect work and life. It is highly accepted that people whom are self aware of their
emotions are better able to guide their open lives , as opposed to those who do not this is just
another clear example of the importance of understanding and initiating emotional intelligence
through work or daily life.
As leaders whom practice self awareness, are able to not only have confidence in their ability, to
lead when facing difficult decisions or moments of dire stress in the workplace. Accepting and
knowing these feelings can ultimately provide the user with useful information about difficult
decisions when answers are not available through external sources.
Leaders must rely on their own feelings to achieve results, being self aware also provides the user
with the tools to assess their own strengths and limitations accurately, as they are completely honest

Who s Afraid Of Virginia Woolf Essay
Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and The Birth of the MPAA Ratings System
The 1960s were a volatile time and an important season of change in American history. The
revolutions in social mores that the country experienced extended to the cinema. Previously, films
sought the endorsement of production associations and religious organizations. That trend began
to be challenged by bold directors and their films that earned success without the approval of these
establishments. With its brash dialogue and suggestive situations, Mike Nichols screen adaptation
of Who s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? caused controversy by continuing the radical movements of
films in the 50 s and 60 s, leading to content changes as well the advisory of who should see it.
Along with other films that came before it, this led to the creation of the MPAA ratings system to
classify films based on content.

They believe in goofing off because the day is too long in their opinion. Jordan also compares the
mental attributes of heavy and thin when she talks about happiness; in That Lean and Hungry Look
, the thin person portrays a bothersome trait, believing logic and 2,000 point plans lead to happiness,
while the fat person is already aware that happiness is indefinable. Jordan uses these kinds of
comparisons and contrast between fat and thin in the article to demonstrate the advantages of being
fat that are not seen by most people, for they are under the impression that fat is always unattractive
or unhappy. Thirdly, Jordan article is filled with connotations. This successfully confirms Jordan s
argument that being fat is better than being thin. Jordan s connotations become obvious with her

Internship Application At Retreat this semester, I was able to put my counseling experience and
personal knowledge into practice by counseling people of different social and cultural backgrounds

severe trauma, and individuals with previous experience in prostitution and the mafia. A few
examples of these cultural differences can be given in describing some clients that I worked with.
The first individual with the most differences was an 60 year old African American, male lawyer
who had previous criminal convictions and was highly addicted to multiple substances. In this
example, this individual was different from me in every category except our religious
backgrounds. He grew up in poverty in a city setting and was able to claw his way out of that
situation and was able to help others who had a similar criminal history in his career as a judge.
However, as his relationships with his ex wife appeared his addiction came back. I enjoyed

a woman I worked with on multiple occasions that had experienced multiple levels of abuse.
Molly was recently recovered from a sex trafficking ring by police and was found with drugs in her

Dramatic Irony In Oedipus Rex By Sophocles
Dramatic Irony in Oedipus Rex Dramatic irony is one of the things that make plays successful. Its
role in this play makes a big difference. In Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, dramatic irony in this play
is very effective in not only revealing to us more about Oedipus and his characteristics, but also
building suspense because the audience know many things that the characters do not. Through the
scenes of Oedipuscursing the unknown murderer, the messenger telling about Polybus, and
Jocasta talking about Laius to Oedipus, we can see this dramatic irony and the significance of
it. The scene in which Oedipus curses the unknown murderer who, according to Creon who
heard from Apollo, causes the plague to occur in the kingdom is a good example of dramatic
irony. He says as part of his curse not to let the murderer join in sacrifice, lustration, or in prayer
(225 226). Then he says, I pray that that man s life be consumed in evil / and wretchedness. / And
as for me, this curse applies no less (233 235). The dramatic irony is that the audience knows that
the murderer he is cursing is Oedipus himself. The significance this dramatic irony in this scene
has to the rest of the play is that it makes the audience start to engage in the play. This scene
makes the reader wonder how events in the play will turn out because of Oedipus being blind to
his own life. It introduces Oedipus as the character he is known as and this scene is one of the
first moments of dramatic irony in the play. Not only is dramatic irony shown through the
unknown murderer cursing scene with Oedipus, but also when the messenger from Corinth
comes to Thebes to tell Jocasta and Oedipus about Polybus death. The messenger says that
Polybus, Oedipus presumed father, died from sickness and old age. This causes Oedipus to feel
relief from the prophecy of the gods that is proclaimed over him, which was that Oedipus would
kill his father and sleep with his mother. Oedipus says after the messenger brings him the news,
No. Polybus / Has packed the oracles off with him underground. / They are empty words (922 924).
Dramatic irony is shown because Oedipus still believes that Polybus is his blood father. Jocasta
reaffirms Oedipus belief by saying, Had I

What Types Of Design Features Improve Readability Of...
What types of design features improve the readability of documents? First, I will address this
from the perspective of a math teacher. For students who struggle with math, simply increasing
the font size, leaving more white space around each problem, and placing fewer problems on the
page make the problems seem easier to solve. Using a less formal font family, such as Comic
Sans MS, or a font that appears shorter and wider rather than thin and stretched vertically, also
has a positive effect. While Comic Sans MS is not recommended for many professional business
documents, it is preferable in this context. As evidence, consider the following homework
samples. Which appears, at first glance, the least difficult to solve? Which appears the most
challenging? Does one seem more like an unusual, foreign concept? Which one seems the most
impersonal? In your opinion, which one seems like it is written by the most caring teacher? Does
one sample seem designed for a younger, less experienced audience? Keep in mind, all four
samples start with identical equations! Clearly, the visual aspects of the problems can influence
how the reader feels about attempting the assignment. I assure you, if I use the last sample,
students are much more likely to feel confident they know how to get started solving the equations!
Second, I will discuss positive features of my church s Sunday bulletin. The bulletins are sheets of
paper with a simple, low resolution color photo on one side,

Let s Discuss Aristotle s Views
First, let s discuss Aristotle s views. As an example of how he takes one word and states its
meaning in a central way, proving that one word although it may have more than one meaning
to be true has to be used in the right context. What I mean by this is, if you take the word hot for
example, the temperature can be hot, touch can feel hot and taste can be hot or some people
prefer to say spicy. But in this case all these things use the term hot but have a different meaning
pertaining to the same word. It is how you use it that then creates its true meaning in your
statement. This then, shows that this terms meaning can be broken down to have more than one
function but still hold its own essence of its created state. Next we have the teaching of things
being either separable, individual, or neither. He states that in order for something to hold its
own characteristics it needs to be determined as having its own existence without being
dependent of another to be then called Separable. So for example, a shirt is made up of many
strings of a certain type of fabric, whether it be silk or cotton, that patch of strings if it is
removed from that shirt, it is still a piece of that shirt regardless of if it is all together or not. It
was stitched the same way as the shirt and is still of the same color and fabric whether all together
or not. That patch is still of that shirt. Yes, it may be separate at this moment but it did not lose its
initial character just now is no longer

President Woodrow Wilson Needed to Make the World Safe for...
No man can sit down and withhold his hands from the warfare against wrong and get peace from
his acquiescence . President Woodrow Wilson could not maintain neutrality after a series of
events that threatened the interests of the US. Wilson knew that he would not have the support
of a diverse American public upon entering the war, so he came up with a plan. He designed the
Committee on Public Information to advertise pro war propaganda. He needed to convince the
people that an involvement in the war was needed to make the world safe for democracy .
Propaganda was heavily used to mobilize the public opinion of a united war effort, and it was
also an attempt on homogenizing a pluralistic nation. The positive effects of this use were it
unified a heterogeneous society, and it was able to get the Americans to invest their time and
effort on the war. The negative effects of this were it caused hatred to those who were of the
enemies ancestry, and false advertising lead to a loss of many innocent lives. When war erupted
in Europe in 1914, the US adopted a policy of neutrality and seclusion. This policy was favored by
a vast majority of Americans, especially those of German and Irish descent. The people of the
United States were drawn from many nations, primarily from the nations at war. The deficiency of
public unity was the primary concern when America entered the war on April 6, 1917. The Wilson
Administration felt they needed to sway public opinion, because American

Demian Hermann Hesse
In life, everyone is searching for something. Some people search for things like money, love,
power, and fame while others are just simply searching for themselves. Published in 1919,
Hermann Hesse s, Demian, tells the story of an older man s reflection on his childhood.
Throughout the novel, main character Emil Sinclair struggles to find a purpose and meaning for
his life. He faces many difficulties in an attempt to find himself. This is a novelof self discovery and
the pursuit of happiness. Because Hesse displays a power struggle between two elements of
binaries, the binaries mirror the struggles that Sinclair faces and his final acceptance of this. The
novel begins with recollections of 10 year old Sinclair. Hesse illustrates the two realms or
worlds that Sinclair is aware of at this age. One world is of light and one world is of darkness.
The world of light consists of everything good, pure, and innocent while the world of darkness is
everything evil, sin and deceit. It was wonderful that here among us there was peace, order, and
repose, duty and a clear conscience, forgiveness and love and wonderful that all the rest existed, all

frightened and tormented as a ghost (Hesse 15). It isn t until he learns about Abraxas that he

Women In Medieval Times
A woman in medieval times was not considered a person, but property. A woman would be
forced to wear layers of drab clothing, the style determining their social class ranking. A woman
of wealth would wear decadent gowns and women in poverty would wear plain spun dresses.
Their goal in life was to find a husband, to give in to his whims and be the epitome of submission.
Sometimes, peasant girls would be forced to take up a trade prior to marriage. After the marriage,
she was forced to give up this trade, the skill she possessed, and either maintain the lifestyle as a
housewife, or help her husband with his trade. In regards to whom a womanmarried, there was little

A woman s alternative would be becoming a nun, giving up all social freedoms and dedicating
your life to serving the poor and God. Women who were subject to this life received a much
more thorough education than other women, in order to properly learn religious concepts and
theory. Otherwise, a woman s education was limited to basic reading abilities paired with
instruction on how to do homely activities. A woman of this time period had utterly no voice in
politics. Law was man s law. The life of these women were controlled by the men who surround
them, their opinions meaning little to nothing. The life of a woman in medieval times was bleak
and varied little. Romantic literature was on the rise, full of damsels in distress that only further
perpetuated negative stereotypes of women during these times. These romances were full of
helpless women in situations only a man could get them out of, or else they would be doomed.
Despite this cultural oppression of women in this time period, some strong female characters were

The word Marriage is defined as, The state of being united as spouses in a consensual and
contractual relationship recognized by law (Marrium Webster). Per the tales of Chaucer, marriage
is so much more than that. By pulling back the layers of some of his tales, I found that Chaucer
had several different views on marriage, what makes it work, and what doesn t. I examined the
following tales: The Wife of Bath , The Clerk s Tale , The Merchant s Tale , The Miller s Tale ,
and The Franklin s Tale . I found that according to Chaucer, the qualities that can make or break
a marriage include: control, trust, loyalty, and age or youth. This paper will explain each tale
and aim to show how each role is played out in each of those tales. The Wife of Bath is a tale
about a knight who rapes a girl and is sentenced to death. However, the Queen wants to spare his
life so she offers him a quest. She sends him hunting for an answer as to what it is that women want
most. He goes out on this quest and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A similar story happens in The Miller s Tale where a woman named Alisoun and her lover,
Nicholas, come up with a story that a great flood is coming and they must all spend the night in
boats hanging from the rafters. She tries to outsmart her husband so that she can have a night
alone with her lover, and once again, it works. Both stories seem to insinuate that age plays a
huge role in the success and happiness in a marriage. It shows readers that by being younger,
both women have a sort of power over their husbands. As long as they are making their husbands
happy, the husbands turn an eye to the things they ought not to be doing. One article even says
that John, Alisoun s husband, is a cuckold , and goes on to say that, [he] is blinded in some
figurative way; but, in part, it is [his] own limited definition of women which blinds him (Carroll
78). Being young gives the women the power in their

Educating Essex Essay
Dear editor,
I am writing to you because I find it impossible to understand why Educating Essex represents
teenagers in this such way to society today, it only makes an impression of them, that all Britain s
teenagers are goby, impolite, spoilt and lacking enough self discipline to interact with anyone. This
supports stereotypes of modern reckless teens, when in reality the majority of Britain s teenagers
are interesting, polite and simply brilliant young people quietly going about the business of creating
a bright future for themselves.
On Educating Essex I have witnessed many negative things that show teenagers in a bad way, such
as students walking across a table, pupils on mobile phones, swearing at each other and teachers, ...

In a different scene it shows when Mr Goddard hides behind his door as Mr Drew enters the
room, he reaches out his arm around the door to welcome his deputy with a two fingered
gesture, and Mr Drew s respond is You are such a ****er . In episode two, there is a scene shown
of a girl called Carmelita, who accuses the deputy of assaulting her. At first she tells him to get
lost and shut up , but in the end she gets excluded when she tells him to **** off . The deputy is
cleared after the headtecher watches the CCTVcameras footage. Also the article mentions that
this sort of behaviour by pupils shouldn t be allowed and there is extremely childish behaviour
by the teachers, who are setting a very bad example for the pupils as they are likely to see the
programme in results of this the teenagers are influenced by what they see on the TV, and think it
s right to behave in this practical way, another influence are the teachers, as they set an example
for the students. One more significant reason for child s behaviour are the parents, because of the
way they are bough up, if they have problems at home they will release their anger in school, on
students and teachers. But essentially that article did not mention any positive things about
teenagers.
There were few positive things that I ve witnessed on Educating Essex but not many as I expected
to be. I think one of them was when, they showed the students reflecting on what they have done

Sears Business Essay
Sears has made several attempts to improve their business, most of which involved selling off
assets and closing stores. Sears has sold off all properties they once owned to Seritage and also
sold their Craftsman tools brand to Stanley Black and Decker. Another strategy Sears has tried to
compensate for their losses is closing stores. Sears has closed around 100 stores and continues to
close more. It was released that Sears is expected to close another 63 stores (45 Kmartand 18 Sears)
by the end of January 2018. Sears has made some attempts to improve by involving and trying to
draw in new customers with social media challenges, free home delivery, or rewards programs. For

First, Sears needs to find a way to fire their current CEO, Edward Lampert. Based on our research
of Sears since Ed Lampert took over the company, it is clear his best interests are not with the
company and the stock price reflects that. When Edward Lampert took over Sears, the stock
price was around $40.00 and the stock price now is the lowest it has been around $3.00 (Yahoo
Finance). Decisions he has made could lead shareholders and the public to believe he is making
decisions based solely on his own personal interests and not for the good of Sears. Lampert is
Sears largest lender and has secured all of his money loaned with property or inventory, ensuring
that he is paid if the company does file for bankruptcy. When Seritage bought Sears properties,
Lampert was CEO and largest shareholder of Sears, while also being the chairman of the board

when he only steps into the headquarters once per year for the annual meeting. While firing

How Technology Has Affected Us As Individuals
Technology seems like such a vital impact on all of our lives that most of us think we can t live
without it. Sure, the technology used in medical fields, science, engineering, etc. is such a big
change from the way things were only a century ago that we likely couldn t live without it.
Although technology has made incredible advancements, are people losing the ability to talk to
one another in a face to face situation? It certainly seems like technology has brought us all closer
together than before, but perhaps it s pushing us all apart. When friends can be deleted with the
push of a button, do our own real life relations matter anymore? ... Show more content on

Essay on Batman Verses Leeann
Batman She shouted
What?
I finally figured it out I m going to call you. She said with the biggest grin on her face. You are my
dark knight so batman is the only name that fits
From that day on everyone started calling me batman. People create nicknames based upon their
own needs. Some need a new insult others need a change, a fresh start. All must encounter the same
problem at some point in time. What does this nickname really mean and when does it begin to take
your place in life.
I had to ask myself at what point did I start sharing my life with an internal monster. One that

I Support Building A Nuclear Power Plant
Hypothetically, let s say a college student, named Steve, rented an apartment and had to pay the
rent but was low on money. What could he do? He was only in college working at a job that didn
t pay him much. Well, one day he reads the newspaper and sees that there is a nuclear power
plant being built where he lives. Steve is a very smart man and thinks that he can find a job there.
He sends his application and gets the job. Now, he makes enough money to pay his rent and still
buy other necessities. Although transporting radioactive material such as waste is dangerous,
several methods are used to assure it safe; therefore, we should allow a nuclear powerplant to be
built in Sparta. I support building a nuclear power plant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Transportation of radioactive material will not harm a person s health. First and foremost, the
companies in charge of the transportation of radioactive material have rules and regulations that
are followed to reduce health risks. The quality and adequacy of the transportation vehicle have
to be evaluated by NRC and DOT. The vehicle operator must have formal training. The waste
transporting companies are accorded a safety rating based on inspection results, accident results,
and the size and number of the vehicle. Another good reason is, certain routes are taken to lessen
the harm of the environment and it s people in case the radioactive material spills which would
be very dangerous, but it s an unlikely case. DOT s and NRC s rules state that the driver must
take routes that minimize radiological risk. The audit program uses information on accident rates,
transit time, and population density and activities are used to determine the level of radiological
risk. The time of day and day of the week is also utilized to determine the route that is to be taken.
The interstate system bypass or beltway around the city must be used when available. About 72
incidents have occurred since 1949 to the present. To restate the previous statement, about 1 or 2

Taking a Look at Stevia
The leaves of the stevia plant a small perennial shrub also known as sweet herb have long been
used as a natural sweetener and herbal medicine in the plant s native South America (Horowitz 36).
The artificial sweetener Stevia is becoming more popular. Stevia is an herb with about 300 times
more sweetness power than sugar. There are many benefits to steviasuch as helping those maintain
a healthy blood pressure, helping diabetic patients and those who are on a low carb and low sugar
controlled diet. Previously only available as dietary supplements in the United states because of
theoretical concerns about effects on blood sugar control, renal function, and human cardiovascular
and reproductive systems highly refined preparations of stevia glycosides are now approved for use
as sugar substitutefood additives (Horowitz 36). A 2 year study was conducted of randomized
patients with mild essential hypertension (Horowitz 36). Those who took capsules containing
500 mg of stevioside powder 3 times daily had significant decreases in systolic and diastolic
blood pressure, compared to the placebo group (Horowitz 36) . The quality of life also improved
in the stevioside users, and no significant adverse effects were noted (Horowitz 36) . Reviews of
stevia also found positive results with respect to glucose tolerance and response (Horowitz 36) . In

Peanut Butter Cup American Culture
Since 1928, the H. B. Reese company s been making the irresistible combination of chocolate and
peanut butter known as the Reese s Peanut Butter Cup. The significance of this artifact in the
american culture and history is, without a doubt, vastly significant. As a confection, both peanut
butter and chocolate pack a strong punch in their own right. They are often main ingredients in
cookies, cakes, ice creams, and other desserts and treats. They re familiar... there s something
instinctively American and close to home about them both. It is no wonder they need very little
persuasion of the American people to become the number one most popular candy in the United
States by a wide margin.

Essay Thomas Jefferson and Monticello
A person s house can show you a lot about that person. In my own room you would probably find
that I have a big appreciation for books, but don t you wonder what the inventor and third president
s house showed you what he was like? Thomas Jefferson was a very important man; however, there
are many more sides to him than you think. Initially, the Northeast Portico displays Thomas
Jeffersons deep appreciation for Architecture. Jefferson himself got the idea for this wall from
James Gibb s Book of Architecture. He used the book and designed a wall based on one of his
designs. The original blueprint was supposed to be used for an octagonal structure, and Jefferson
used it for just one wall. This shows that Jefferson cares for architecture... Show more content on

Next, his Mandan Buffalo Robe also shows his understanding of history and the arts. Most
painted robes were used as traditional clothing and articles of trade for Native Americans. Some
of these robes are painted with a scene usually a scene that the person receiving the robe fought
in. Meriwether Lewis and William Clark sent a package to Thomas Jefferson filled with seven
buffalo robes one that had a painted scene. Putting a piece from a famous expedition shows that
he is aware that he must preserve a piece of history so that s other can look back at this piece of
history. Thomas Jefferson understands the History and Arts very much, so his Entry Hall reflects
this part of him.
Jefferson s love of people and games are evident in the parlor room. The Parlor Room was filled
with many paintings of important figures and friends of Jefferson s. Benjamin Franklin, George
Washington, and Thomas Jefferson Randolph are just some of the many paintings included in
the parlor. He had used this room as a place to invite friends and colleagues to come over and
play games and have fun. Jefferson included many chairs, in this room to have lots of people over
and allow them to sit down whenever they would like too. The parlor room was often a place for
family weddings, dances, and christenings. A wedding is a cheerful ceremony between two families

Her parents; Sarah Julia Fagan and Clarence Holiday had her at the ages of 16 and 18.Her father Clarence later on in his life became a successful jazz singer which is most likely where her talent came from. Billie s life was far from a walk in the park. Billie never had a father figure in her life. As a result, she was sent to the House of Good Shepherd, a facility for troubled African Americangirls (Billie Holiday Biography.com). • 3. Analysis Of Forester s A Passage Of India Essay The characters Fielding and Aziz in E.M. Forester s A Passage to India differ greatly when it comes to the integration and development of the intimate relationships in their lives. While Fielding starts off having close to none of these vital relationships in his reality, he soon leaves behind this meaningless way of life and begins interacting with people in more complex and intimate ways. Aziz, on the other hand, seems to start the novel much more open to these relationships, forgetting most of his initial aversions to foreigners and attempting to connect of a deeper emotional level with the people around him. Approaching the end of the novel, however, Aziz experiences trauma that causes him to shut down almost completely, casting him into a world with much fewer vital relationships. Maybe this shows a maturing in both characters, as Fielding learns to be less guarded and more involved with those around him while Aziz learns to be smarter about who he entrusts with his friendship. When these fundamental human relationships are absent during stages of these characters lives, an existence void of meaning and full of misunderstanding and conflict results, and thus we see E.M. Forester s assertions about the importance of human intimacy proven as accurate. Initially, there is a great dissimilarity between Fielding and Aziz when it comes to their level of emotional involvement with others. Aziz is painted as an open character. He holds a strong relationship with a woman who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Symposium By Plato Analysis In Plato s, The Symposium, there are a multitude of things that get discussed amongst the group of men, one of those theories being the idea of beauty. To truly understand what Plato thinks about beauty, you have to understand his idea of forms, and the Form of Beauty. He describes this as an everlasting loveliness which never comes nor goes, which neither flowers nor fades . The essence to understanding this form, is that we can realize all beautiful things share the Form of Beauty. But only in their involvement with this form that they become beautiful. It is an unchanging, absolute, and immortal form that cannot admit to anything less. The form itself is not ugly or offensive, or it would cease to exist in the form . This idea is brought forth in The Symposium when Socrates is talking about his encounter with Diotima and her story of the Ladder of Love . This story gives us an understanding of how we should love and what it means to be truly beautiful. Diotima shares with Socrates the process by which one can aquire these final visions , and then they are explained to us. One begins as a young person by being attracted to beautiful bodies, and to one beautiful body in particular. This produces beautiful discourses with this body. Which does not necessarily mean sexual acts. A person could be attracted to another just because their physical body is beautiful. The next stage is to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This beauty always exists, not coming into being or ceasing to be, nor increasing nor diminishing. It is absolute beauty, not being beautiful only in some respects or at some times it is as Plato calls the one . • 5. Sun Also Rises Bullfighting Bulls and bull fighting are the two most critical symbols in The Sun Also Rises. The bulls symbolize passion, physicality, energy, and freedom. If that s not enough symbolic weight for these poor little boy cows, in the bulls interactions with the bull fighters, they also come to symbolize the act of sex. Each bull fight involves seduction, manipulation, maneuvering, and penetration by the bull fighter of the bull. Yowza. It is significant that, of all the characters, Jake, Brett, Romero, and Montoya are the most stirred by bull fighting. Romero s status as bull fighter suggests that, unlike the novel s other male characters, he is capable of passionate love and sex. Although Cohn clings to an illusion of love for Brett, he is repelled initially by the bull fights as boring, then later as gruesome. These means, in the more than slightly messed up world that Hemingway has created, that he s not a manly man.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jake, it seems, strives to experience sensuality vicariously through the bull fights (as he is unable to have sex himself). Jake s knowledge of bull fighting empowers him to authoritatively describe the bull fights to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

God as spoken through His prophet Jeremiah is for all intents and purposes exactly correct when speaking of human nature. How quickly man would rather hates others than love them. Mankind is quick to go to war over oil fields, land, and down right hate for one and another. This inescapable truth is seen in today s headlines which are filled with atrocities of man against man. Comparing George Orwell s Manor Farm To Animal Farm By changing the name of Manor Farm to Animal Farm, the animals are establishing dominance and are saying publically that they now own the land. The change of name makes the territory of the animals; and makes surrounding farmers aware of what has happened. The name change was also the last step in the rebellion for freedom. 2. The animals were all so easy to except squealer s explanation because they didn t bother to understand what he was saying and also didn t think for themselves. The working class in Animal Farm can all been seen as incredibly naГЇve. The animals had a tendency to do what was ordered and ask questions later; however by the time they began to question the events it was already too late to ask. The animals often noticed the small changes the pigs made, but never raised their voices to question it. An example of this was when clover noticed that the fourth commandment, no animal shall sleep on a bed , had been changed to no animals shall sleep on a bed with sheets . The pigs often took advantage of the working class animals and were the only animals apart from the dogs who benefitted from it. Most animals were easily persuaded and manipulated due to their lack of education; but also due to the fact that the pigs were also far more intelligent. • 8. Thomas Cochrane s Life And Life Thomas Cochrane was born on December 14, 1775 in Annsfield, Scotland. He was the eldest son of Archibald and Anna Gilchrist Cochrane, and had three brothers: Archibald, Basil and William. Thomas received little to no formal schooling, which taught him to be self reliant and practical. Thomas shared his eccentricity and intellectual curiosity with his father, a scientist and inventor. In November of 1784, Anna Cochrane passed away. Soon after, Thomas was sent to Mr. Chauvet s military academy in Kensington, London. In fall of 1793, his uncle learned he had been appointed to command the Thetis. The crew was transferred and Thomas was given the opportunity to prepare the ship for sea. Had inherited from his father an intense passion for understanding how things worked and how they could be improved. Over the next two years, Thomas learned all aspects of a ship, including how to do each specialist trade and how to handle a boat in all weather conditions. This practical working knowledge of a ship and seamanship would prove to benefit him greatly when he commanded his own vessel. On April 13, 1795, Cochrane joined the Africa, a 64 gun ship. He spent 5 weeks as acting lieutenant. He eventually reboarded the Thetis as acting second lieutenant and waited for an official promotion. These skills allowed Thomas to take the lieutenant s exams, which he passed in 1796. Soon after, Cochrane was appointed as lieutenant on the flagship the Resolution. It was an extremely peaceful boat; the officers got along and the crew was enjoyed their work, but cochrane understood that promotion was not likely aboard the Resolution. In 1798, he reboarded his uncles frigate and sailed for EnglanD where he was appointed eighth lieutenant on Lord Keith s flagship HMS Barfleur, serving in the Mediterranean. • 11. Mesa Verde National Park On The Colorado Plateau Mesa Verde National Park on the Colorado Plateau contains many geological aspects of interest, including its sedimentary rock layers, its canyons, its alcoves utilized by ancient people and how these alcoves were formed. Mesa Verde National Park is located in the southwest corner of Colorado, close to the Four Corners area, on top of a high mesa overlooking the Mancos River (Harris et al. 2004). The park, covering 81 square miles, consists of several main sedimentary formations that are characteristic to the park (Encyclopedia Britannica 2015). Canyons are carved into the sedimentary rock, with the cave dwellings found high on their steep walls. These dwellings are an especially unique aspect to the Mesa Verde National Park, and are built out of large alcoves. The alcoves were produced by weathering and erosion of the sedimentary rock type. To better understand how these alcoves formed, we must understand the geology of Mesa Verde National Park and how it has developed over history. First, we must examine the sedimentary formations; when they were formed, how they were formed, and what materials they consist of. About ninety three to one hundred million years ago, the Western Interior Seaway rolled through the North American continent, eventually reaching the geographical area of today s Mesa Verde National Park (National Park Service2005). This sea deposited a thick, hard sandstone base that is called Dakota Sandstone, although this layer is not exposed in the park ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kluger walks through Jonas Salk s life starting with his father and mother, what they did, how they lived, and where they were from. Kluger transitions into Salk s childhood and his serious nature. Kluger states: Salk was...a serious boy, troubled by sometimes curious things. Rules seemed to grate him the most. Not that he didn t expect a good rule when he came across one. (25). Kluger flows well into talking about Salk s education, Salk meeting his wife, them getting married, and all places that Salk worked in the different aspects of his life. Kluger does add bits and pieces of Basil O Conner s and Franklin Delano Roosevelt s lives, in relation to polio and Jonas Salk s life at that point in his career. Kluger goes into some detail about Salk s creation of the influenza vaccine, but his main focus was on the polio vaccine. Salk used some of the techniques he learned from creating the flu vaccine and applied them to the polio vaccine. Some of those techniques worked, while others did not. Kluger goes into a lot of detail into Salk getting started working on the polio vaccine and who funded his research. There was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Childrens Health Insurance Program Improving Children s Health Insurance Program through Health Policy Children s health correlates to the health of the nation. The health of a child is a direct factor of adult health, productivity, and stability. If a nation has high morbidity and mortality rates for children, it will negatively impact that society s growth and development. It is imperative that children have health insurance and access to quality preventative and primary care, in order to foster healthy development into adulthood. Many children meet the requirements and eligibility for health care insurance; however, a large percentage of children are still left uninsured. This is problematic because if millions of children are uninsured, it increases their chances of illness and will have a negative impact on their growth and development. The policy needs to be re evaluated so that more children are insured and receive access to preventative and primary care. In the early 1940s, the world was drawn into another world war that pitted the allied forces against both Nazi Germany in the European theater and the Japanese in the Pacific theater. The attack on Pearl Harbor was the final straw that convinced the United States to enter against both the Germans and the Japanese. With the two opposing forces having most of their conquered territory right on the ocean, especially the island campaigns of the Japanese, it became imperative for the amphibious landings of the Marines to be perfected and two Marine officers were tasked. The Controversy Of Kurt Cobain s Death For over 20 years we have been told by media, investigators, and even those closest to Kurt Cobain himself that his death was a suicide, but as more details are revealed and more people come forward, there is one question that hangs in the air: Was Kurt Cobain murdered? On April 8, 1994, Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain was found dead in the greenhouse of his home in Seattle, Washington. According to the coroner that examined Cobain, he had been dead about three days before he was found (Grove). Only just four days before his death, he escaped from Exodus Recovery Center, where he was staying to get help for his drug addiction. The same day that he escaped was the last day that he ever spoke to his wife, Courtney Love. Although it is widely believed that Kurt Cobain killed himself, with all the facts and evidence provided, it is apparent and obvious that Courtney Love killed Kurt Cobain. To begin, Kurt and Courtney s marriage was failing. This was something that everyone around them could see. Kurt had been planning to divorce Courtney and then move out of the country. • 33. Dramatic Irony In Oedipus Rex By Sophocles Dramatic Irony in Oedipus Rex Dramatic irony is one of the things that make plays successful. Its role in this play makes a big difference. In Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, dramatic irony in this play is very effective in not only revealing to us more about Oedipus and his characteristics, but also building suspense because the audience know many things that the characters do not. Through the scenes of Oedipuscursing the unknown murderer, the messenger telling about Polybus, and Jocasta talking about Laius to Oedipus, we can see this dramatic irony and the significance of it. The scene in which Oedipus curses the unknown murderer who, according to Creon who heard from Apollo, causes the plague to occur in the kingdom is a good example of dramatic irony. He says as part of his curse not to let the murderer join in sacrifice, lustration, or in prayer (225 226). Then he says, I pray that that man s life be consumed in evil / and wretchedness. / And as for me, this curse applies no less (233 235). The dramatic irony is that the audience knows that the murderer he is cursing is Oedipus himself. The significance this dramatic irony in this scene has to the rest of the play is that it makes the audience start to engage in the play. This scene makes the reader wonder how events in the play will turn out because of Oedipus being blind to his own life. It introduces Oedipus as the character he is known as and this scene is one of the first moments of dramatic irony in the play. Not only is dramatic irony shown through the unknown murderer cursing scene with Oedipus, but also when the messenger from Corinth comes to Thebes to tell Jocasta and Oedipus about Polybus death. The messenger says that Polybus, Oedipus presumed father, died from sickness and old age. This causes Oedipus to feel relief from the prophecy of the gods that is proclaimed over him, which was that Oedipus would kill his father and sleep with his mother. Oedipus says after the messenger brings him the news, No. Polybus / Has packed the oracles off with him underground. / They are empty words (922 924). Dramatic irony is shown because Oedipus still believes that Polybus is his blood father. Jocasta reaffirms Oedipus belief by saying, Had I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For students who struggle with math, simply increasing the font size, leaving more white space around each problem, and placing fewer problems on the page make the problems seem easier to solve. Using a less formal font family, such as Comic Sans MS, or a font that appears shorter and wider rather than thin and stretched vertically, also has a positive effect. While Comic Sans MS is not recommended for many professional business documents, it is preferable in this context. As evidence, consider the following homework samples. Which appears, at first glance, the least difficult to solve? Which appears the most challenging? Does one seem more like an unusual, foreign concept? Which one seems the most impersonal? In your opinion, which one seems like it is written by the most caring teacher? Does one sample seem designed for a younger, less experienced audience? Keep in mind, all four samples start with identical equations! Clearly, the visual aspects of the problems can influence how the reader feels about attempting the assignment. I assure you, if I use the last sample, students are much more likely to feel confident they know how to get started solving the equations! As an example of how he takes one word and states its meaning in a central way, proving that one word although it may have more than one meaning to be true has to be used in the right context. What I mean by this is, if you take the word hot for example, the temperature can be hot, touch can feel hot and taste can be hot or some people prefer to say spicy. But in this case all these things use the term hot but have a different meaning pertaining to the same word. It is how you use it that then creates its true meaning in your statement. This then, shows that this terms meaning can be broken down to have more than one function but still hold its own essence of its created state. Next we have the teaching of things being either separable, individual, or neither. He states that in order for something to hold its own characteristics it needs to be determined as having its own existence without being dependent of another to be then called Separable. So for example, a shirt is made up of many strings of a certain type of fabric, whether it be silk or cotton, that patch of strings if it is removed from that shirt, it is still a piece of that shirt regardless of if it is all together or not. It was stitched the same way as the shirt and is still of the same color and fabric whether all together or not. That patch is still of that shirt. President Woodrow Wilson could not maintain neutrality after a series of events that threatened the interests of the US. Wilson knew that he would not have the support of a diverse American public upon entering the war, so he came up with a plan. He designed the Committee on Public Information to advertise pro war propaganda. He needed to convince the people that an involvement in the war was needed to make the world safe for democracy . Propaganda was heavily used to mobilize the public opinion of a united war effort, and it was also an attempt on homogenizing a pluralistic nation. The positive effects of this use were it unified a heterogeneous society, and it was able to get the Americans to invest their time and effort on the war. The negative effects of this were it caused hatred to those who were of the enemies ancestry, and false advertising lead to a loss of many innocent lives. When war erupted in Europe in 1914, the US adopted a policy of neutrality and seclusion. This policy was favored by a vast majority of Americans, especially those of German and Irish descent. • 38. Demian Hermann Hesse In life, everyone is searching for something. Some people search for things like money, love, power, and fame while others are just simply searching for themselves. Published in 1919, Hermann Hesse s, Demian, tells the story of an older man s reflection on his childhood. Throughout the novel, main character Emil Sinclair struggles to find a purpose and meaning for his life. He faces many difficulties in an attempt to find himself. This is a novelof self discovery and the pursuit of happiness. Because Hesse displays a power struggle between two elements of binaries, the binaries mirror the struggles that Sinclair faces and his final acceptance of this. The novel begins with recollections of 10 year old Sinclair. Hesse illustrates the two realms or worlds that Sinclair is aware of at this age. One world is of light and one world is of darkness. The world of light consists of everything good, pure, and innocent while the world of darkness is everything evil, sin and deceit. It was wonderful that here among us there was peace, order, and repose, duty and a clear conscience, forgiveness and love and wonderful that all the rest existed, all those noisy,... When he enters the dark world, he begins to experience the Devil more than God for the very first time. This is really hard on Sinclair and he was living as frightened and tormented as a ghost (Hesse 15). It isn t until he learns about Abraxas that he finally understands the purpose of these two binaries. But it seems that Abraxas has a much greater significance. We may look upon the name as that of a deity who had the symbolic task combining the godlike and the devilish (Hesse 60). A woman would be forced to wear layers of drab clothing, the style determining their social class ranking. A woman of wealth would wear decadent gowns and women in poverty would wear plain spun dresses. Their goal in life was to find a husband, to give in to his whims and be the epitome of submission. Sometimes, peasant girls would be forced to take up a trade prior to marriage. After the marriage, she was forced to give up this trade, the skill she possessed, and either maintain the lifestyle as a housewife, or help her husband with his trade. A woman s alternative would be becoming a nun, giving up all social freedoms and dedicating your life to serving the poor and God. Women who were subject to this life received a much more thorough education than other women, in order to properly learn religious concepts and theory. Otherwise, a woman s education was limited to basic reading abilities paired with instruction on how to do homely activities. A woman of this time period had utterly no voice in politics. Law was man s law. The life of these women were controlled by the men who surround them, their opinions meaning little to nothing. The life of a woman in medieval times was bleak and varied little. Romantic literature was on the rise, full of damsels in distress that only further perpetuated negative stereotypes of women during these times. These romances were full of helpless women in situations only a man could get them out of, or else they would be doomed. • 40. Marriage In The Miller s Tale The word Marriage is defined as, The state of being united as spouses in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (Marrium Webster). Per the tales of Chaucer, marriage is so much more than that. By pulling back the layers of some of his tales, I found that Chaucer had several different views on marriage, what makes it work, and what doesn t. I examined the following tales: The Wife of Bath , The Clerk s Tale , The Merchant s Tale , The Miller s Tale , and The Franklin s Tale . I found that according to Chaucer, the qualities that can make or break a marriage include: control, trust, loyalty, and age or youth. This paper will explain each tale and aim to show how each role is played out in each of those tales. The Wife of Bath is a tale about a knight who rapes a girl and is sentenced to death. However, the Queen wants to spare his life so she offers him a quest. She sends him hunting for an answer as to what it is that women want most. He goes out on this quest and... A similar story happens in The Miller s Tale where a woman named Alisoun and her lover, Nicholas, come up with a story that a great flood is coming and they must all spend the night in boats hanging from the rafters. She tries to outsmart her husband so that she can have a night alone with her lover, and once again, it works. Both stories seem to insinuate that age plays a huge role in the success and happiness in a marriage. It shows readers that by being younger, both women have a sort of power over their husbands. As long as they are making their husbands happy, the husbands turn an eye to the things they ought not to be doing. One article even says that John, Alisoun s husband, is a cuckold , and goes on to say that, [he] is blinded in some figurative way; but, in part, it is [his] own limited definition of women which blinds him (Carroll 78). Educating Essex Essay Dear editor, I am writing to you because I find it impossible to understand why Educating Essex represents teenagers in this such way to society today, it only makes an impression of them, that all Britain s teenagers are goby, impolite, spoilt and lacking enough self discipline to interact with anyone. This supports stereotypes of modern reckless teens, when in reality the majority of Britain s teenagers are interesting, polite and simply brilliant young people quietly going about the business of creating a bright future for themselves.
