Qantas s Biggest Airline Of The World And Australia s...
Qantas is one of the oldest airlines in the world and Australia s largest airline. Qantas was founded in
Winton, Queensland on November 16, 1920 for the Queensland and Northern Territory Air Services

CEP55 Essay
CEP55 plays a critical role for precise midbody assembly as CEP55 depleted cells exhibited an
abnormal midbody structure that lacked visible midbody under light microscope [220]. They also
demonstrated the interaction of CEP55 with an orchestra of structural and regulatory proteins essential
for accomplishment of cytokinesis. These proteins include Aurora B, MKLP2, PRC1, ECT2, Anillin
and Syntaxin 2 which are recruited to the midbody thus implying the importance of CEP55 being
indispensable for midbody structure maintenance [220]. Carlton et al. and Morita et al. have
independently demonstrated that CEP55 coordinates the final stage of cell abscission. They have
showed that at midbody, CEP55 recruits proteins involved in vesicular fission ... Show more content

Further characterization is required to discriminate the role of CEP55 being direct (facilitates actual
abscission) or indirect (regulates recruitment of vesicular trafficking proteins) in cytokinesis.
1.7.4 The structure of CEP55 and ESCRT complex at the midbody
As discussed previously, CEP55 forms a complex with ALIX and TSG101 at the midbody to recruit
ESCRT machinery to the midbody for facilitating membrane fission events required to assist
separation of two daughter cells [212, 223]. Among many other ESCRT complexes (such as 0, I, II
and III), ESCRT III plays critical role in regulating cytokinesis as it forms long filamentous structures
to allow construction of constriction site [195, 212, 223]. In context to CEP55, ALIX enables
recruitment of ESCRT III whereas TSG101 allows conscription of ESCRT I initially which in turn
recruits ESCRT III (Figure 1.11B) [212, 223]. CEP55, like other centrosomal proteins is a highly
coiled coil protein and is known to exist as a homodimer [218]. Initially, Morita et al. demonstrated
that CEP55 is comprised of two coiled coil region joined by a hinge region that enabled binding of
ALIX and TSG101 [223]. However, Lee et al. demonstrated that the hinge region is part of the coiled
coil region with the probability of being a continuation of N terminal domain (Figure 1.11B) [196]. In
addition, Lee et al. also demonstrated that each homodimer of CEP55 binds only one copy of either
ALIX or TSG101

Cultural Stereotypes In Germany
The nation of Germany is a highly diverse country filled with historic sites and a variety
of countryside. from the North Sea to the Swiss Alps in the south Germany is full of all walks of
life. The language spoken there is Deutsch but just like anywhere else depending upon where
you re located will determine the different types of dialect you might hear. For instance, in the
Northern part of Germany, you might hear a more Danish dialect; in the South, you might
find more Swedish speaking individuals. The German country is rich in history and has
contributed to Europe in a plethora of ways it s almost unprecedented, and their influence is still
felt throughout Europe and the rest of the world today. To say that there is one single German
culture wouldn t be doing the country any justice, Germany is arguably the most culturally
diverse nation in all of Europe. Centralized location in Europe, and the amount of federally
funded programs in Germany is one of the main reasons they are at the top of the list for
immigrations across Europe. The countries has a reputation as a major cultural nation due to
influences in the country throughout the eras from famous music composers to literary geniuses.
Arguably one of the most important assets to a Military is Cultural awareness, this paper will
cover the everyday life of a German citizen and the backing of the country.

Analysis Of The Book I Am
At the beginning of the novel, I am immediately implanted a general impression of McTeague, a
clumsily single minded giant, who operates his own dental practice and goes about his daily routine
with satisfaction: he would sit at the bay window (1) reading the paper (1) and [gorging] with steam
beer (1) and even play regularly on his concertina. Moving his immense limbs (2) slowly and
ponderously, McTeague looks like a draught horse, immensely strong, stupid, docile, obedient (3).
Worse than that, his mind was as his body, heavy, slow to act, sluggish (2). But thanks to his barbaric
mind, he is not saddened by his terrible appearance; instead he feels that his life is quite a success with
the dental practice guaranteeing him a stable income, that he could hope for nothing better (3). He is
never fed up with his repetitive days, and the only enjoyment in his tedious life probably is to
appreciate the panorama of the urban street from his bay window, where the world goes past (6). No
matter the various shops or people from all walks of life, from seven o clock in the morning to eleven
in the evening, never fail to interest him. Besides that, the other way that could connect McTeague
with the outside world is Marcus. Unlike his friend, McTeague is introversive and indifferent to the
society and neighborhood, knowing nothing except for his routine. Therefore, he is frequently
bewildered by Marcus while listening to his political tirade with admiration; but he

Let the Right One in Analysis Essay
BONDING THROUGH EXILE:
An Analysis of Mise en Scène in Let the Right One In
The theme of loneliness and isolation has been predominant in cinema since its inception, but Tomas
Alfredson explores the idea in a unique way in his 2008 Swedish romantic horror film, Let the Right
One In. Set in the snowy winter of Stockholm, the film depicts the similarly cold and depressing life
of Oskar, a young target of bullying. This frozen, barren setting contributes to the complete isolation
that the viewer feels with the characters. Through strategic shot composition and specific color and
mood choices, Alfredson shows how both Oskar and Eli are cut off from the world in different ways,
and then how their common bloodlust brings them together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The camera slowly pans around the playground, showing the bland walls of the apartment complex
surrounding it to amplify their sense of overwhelming loneliness. Oskar, wanting to find a companion
in Eli, provides her with his rubik s cube to solve. The rubik s cube can also be seen as Eli providing
an answer to Oskar s problems. Both his life and his rubik s cube are puzzles that need solving, and
Eli literally drops in to solve everything for him. This early scene sets the tone for the rest of the
movie and establishes both the characters as lonely outcasts that need to be saved.
As the relationship between Oskar and Eli continues to blossom, Oskar finds out that Eli lives off
blood to survive. After this realization, there is a scene where Eli arrives at Oskar s house. Oskar
attempts to let her in by motioning and gesturing but she refuses to cross the threshold. She finally
enters without his permission, causing her to bleed from every opening on her face, turning her into a
grotesque image of her true vampiric form. This causes Oskar to give her permission to enter. This
scene symbolizes the finality of the relationship between Oskar and Eli. Eli is a violent murderer, and
Oskar has violent ambitions, and this is the moment where Eli attempts to turn those ambitions into
reality. The way the shots of Oskar and Eli are composed suggest a

Responsible Citizenship In Ronald Wright s A Short History...
Despite mankind s best effort, the history of mankind is a wrinkled mess. These wrinkles are due to
mankind s inability to stop history from repeating itself several times over. However, the idea of
history repeating itself is not new to the literature of today s society. There are several more causes for
wrinkles in mankind s history. In fact, Ronald Wright argues that not only the idea of history repeating
itself, but also the idea of mankind progressing to the point that progress becomes detrimental to
mankind will result in the extinction of mankind. Therefore, Wright s argument in A Short History of
Progress should shape the discussion of responsible citizenship because his viewpoints show how
human ignorance allows mankind to progress towards extinction.
Responsible citizenship involves preventing the growth of the negative components of society;
however, mankind s progress has grown to the point where it is negative to society. The idea of
progress creates an image of society improving and heading towards a perfect ... Show more content

A part of responsible citizenship is ensuring that the society grows and becomes more efficient as it
evolves. Wright discusses how mankind has never truly grown and changed because, these things had
already been done on a small scale . . . so this spur of art and technology cannot be evidence that we
suddenly evolved into a new species (p.39). By these things Wright means the advancements of
humankind in several aspects: technological, and social. Thusly, he demonstrates that the progress
thought to be brand new to this generation is a repeat of a previous development. Theoretically
speaking then, how can something be better if it is just a different a different shell of the same object?
It cannot be, therefore mankind is not growing but simply repeating the same cycle over and over

Myrtle Beach Essay
Why is Myrtle Beach the Perfect Place for Your Family One of the most interesting communities to
live in will always be that of a beach town or city. They just have a different vibe and atmosphere than
any other city you will ever experience. Within the community of a beach city you have the insight
into a culture where locals and tourists are constantly interacting. There are places specifically where
the tourists flock too and then there are the dives and eateries that the locals frequent. A beach city will
have plenty of attractions to keep you constantly entertained, or you can simply relax by the beach.
One of the most widely traveled beach cities is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, but why should you just

The Dangers Of Small Arms Proliferation
There are an abundance of dangers associated with small arms proliferation. Yes, small arms are often
used to protect lives, but they are also used equally as much to threaten the lives of millions. In
agreement with 6.1.2 (Payne, 2016, p. 73), small arms and light weapons are attractive because they
are low cost, easy availability, lethal, simple, portable, and have dual usage. Since they are deemed so
attractive, they are in high demand as well. Anyone can get their hands on those said weapons through
legal sales or illicit. Small arms proliferation is dangerous because knowing that guns can and will be
put in the wrong hands, strips people of their sense of wellbeing. There is no way however of cutting
down proliferation of small arms or

Social Class Differences In American Culture
In American culture, most parents would say that they are doing a satisfactory job at raising their
children; yet, each family raise their children so differently. The differences are clearly seen when
compared by class.
In the upper classes (high class to upper middle class), children are given hundreds of learning
opportunities and are taught to value education at a much earlier age. They are put into expensive day
cares that require competitive applications, after school art and sport programs, and enrichment clubs
that ensure they are building a foundation that will prepare them for success. These enriching
opportunities are only feasible because parents from the upper class have the money and the time to
pour into their children, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

interesting how the differing child rearing techniques, which are influenced by cultural values are

prevent an social mobility into another economic class. Comparatively, the upper classes early

Hamlet the Sentimental Dreamer
Hamlet: The Sentimental Dreamer
The Tragedy of Hamlet Prince of Denmark is William Shakespeare s most well known and analyzed
work of literature. As the play unfolds, Hamlet has to face the difficult task of seeking revenge against
his uncle, Claudius, for the murder of his father, King Hamlet. Hamlet has captured audiences and
readers for centuries and has caused much inquiry and debate. Shakespeare s Hamlet is a very
psychologically complex character. Throughout the play, Hamlet conveys two different sides; the
young, emotional and intelligent prince, who is committed to honesty and loyalty; and his destructive
and impulsive side which led to the death of Polonius and nonchalantly sent Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern to their deaths as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.2.634 35). This quote means that Hamlet will study Claudius during the performance of the play, and
should he change his behavior, he will know that the Ghost s story was true and he can now take
revenge. Even despite the fact .that Hamlet now knows that Claudius killed his father, he still delays
his actions. This goes on to show that Hamlet is an intellectual dreamer. Hamlet gets a perfect
opportunity to kill Claudius but he neglects to kill him because he is in prayer. Hamlet delays in action
of seeking revenge against Claudius when he quotes, Now might I do it(pat,) now he is a praying, and
now I ll do it/ And so he goes to heaven/ And so am I(revenged.) That would be scanned: A villan kills
my father, and for that/ I, his sole son, do this same villain send to Heaven (Ham. 3.3.77 83). Hamlet s
rationale for this was that he assumed Claudius was confessing his sins, and his death would send him
to heaven. For Hamlet, taking revenge is just not about killing Claudius, but making sure that he
suffers, another deeply thought out belief. Hamlet is too much of a thinker and not enough of an actor.
Even when Hamlet is given the opportunity to carry out his intentions, he delays and reasons himself
out of it. Hamlet does have an almost excessive desire to reason everything through thoroughly.
As a dreamer, Hamlet is lacking of that strength which would carry him through his actions.

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Internationalization...
3. Internationalization of production
3.1. OLI Paradigm
There are different ways in which companies can expand their activities to gain some sort of
competitive advantage. Internationalization is understood as the process of incremental involvement in
a country different from the one where business usually happens. The reasons for companies to seek
international expansion vary (Morschett 2007):
Resource seeking: the MNC is motivated to expand its operations on the supply side to other countries
or regions to secure access to resources.
Technology/talent seeking: many companies have an interest in investing abroad for the sake of
accessing to strategic assets or knowledge. This is the case for many Asian companies that even
though having a vast access to capital and investment in operations, are unable to ... Show more

The eclectic paradigm (Dunning, 1988) proposes that there are patterns determined by the
configuration of the different advantages as perceived by a company and these are the motor for
understanding internationalization. Because of more abundance in resources and knowledge,
companies have more chances of succeeding in their home markets. Therefore the main point of the
eclectic paradigm, proposes that there must exist a competitive advantage that levels the field for a
foreign company to compete with local companies and still have a chance of succeeding. These
advantages need to surpass the break even of costs for setting up operations in a foreign country. This
paradigm contrasts with modern theories of MNCs, which propose that instead of existing a
competitive advantage strong enough to motivate the internationalization of operations, the factor
behind this company behavior has to do with market failure due to high transaction costs. It is debated
whether exploiting transaction or ownership advantages leads to the most successful

The Opinion Of The Newspaper Discourse Community
Joining the newspaper discourse community was one of the greatest achievements in my high school
career and that was only possible by gaining intellect about the community, securing my place on the
team by proving myself, and by continuing to learn from my experiences.
The first step to achieving my position in this discourse community included familiarizing myself with
the intellect and style of writing that was required for journalists. In my freshman year of high school,
I took Journalism as one of my electives. This course taught the basic knowledge that comes with
journalism that includes journalistic ethics, writing, and skills. I was able to logistically prove myself
to the members of the newspaper discourse community by abiding by the ethical values of journalism.
I was able to know the difference between slander, a spoken defamatory statement, and libel, a written
defamatory statement I was successfully able avoid it in my assignments. Similarly, I studied the
Associated Press Stylebook (AP) that is a required resource to know for journalistic writing. Through
this, I was able to effectively write my assignments knowing that instead of a thesis, I will have a lead
that is thirty five words or less. I knew that my writing would vary depending on the type of story I
was assigned. For example, a news story follows a certain quote transition format to emphasize the
sources while an editorial piece would follow a different format catering to its persuasive nature.

Thesis Statement About Arsenics
Thesis statement: Water, food, and air that contains arsenic causes human health problems.
Background and history of Arsenic? The elemental Arsenic was discovered by Albert Magnus in 1250
A.D. The word Arsenic comes from a Greek word Arsenikon, means yellow orpiment. Arsenic has an
atomic number of 33 with a melting point of 1141 degrees Fahrenheit or 889 Kelvin. The density is
5.75 g cm 3 and the atomic mass is 74.922 g/mol. Arsenic was already known for a long time during
the Egyptian, Greeks, and Chinese civilizations. But identifying this chemical as an element such as
the atomic number and the atomic mass, were discovered by Albert Magnus. The appearance of
arsenic is semi metal and has a silver grayish color. Arsenic were used ... Show more content on

Long term exposure to low doses of arsenic may change the way cells communicate, and reduce their
ability to function, according to researchers at Dartmouth University. It could play a role in the
development of diabetes, cancer, vascular disease and lung disease. The Food and Drug
Administration says that long term exposure to high levels of arsenic is associated with higher rates of
skin cancer, bladder cancer and lung cancer, as well as heart disease.
(https://www.livescience.com/23304 arsenic rice fda health effects.html). Arsenic goes into the human
body through inhalation, ingestion, and skin absorption. If the arsenic inhaled, it goes into the lung
and then goes into the bloodstream. Then liver, will filter the blood and the arsenic will be removed.
Once, the arsenic is removed, it will excreted by urine. If the arsenic was ingested it will go to the
gastrointestinal tract and be removed through human feces. There were two types of Arsenic, the
organic and inorganic. The organic is less harmful than inorganic. In acute arsenic toxicity organ
damage could occur and may lead to death. On the other hand, disfiguration of extremities due to
chronic arsenic exposure may lead to the development of malignant tumors (ww sciencedirect com.lib
proxy.fullerton.edu). Furthermore, long term exposure of inorganic arsenic can lead to skin becoming
dark and appearing of the warts mostly on foot, hands, and upper body. Inhaling large amount of
arsenic, especially inorganic, creates lung irritation, sore throat, and inflammation of esophagus.
Arsenic can also damage the heart such as coronary heart disease, diffuse capillary leakage, and

The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) tells a tale of thieves that behave more honorable than the
nobles of their time. The bandits known as the Merry Men lead by a notorious thief and Errol named
Robin Hood (Errol Flynn). He leads the Merry Men in treacherous deeds to steal from those who have
the most in the land and give everything they take to lazy, scumbags, treacherous, poor people. They
protect the helpless women and children from the noble knights and kings. This seems very confusing
to most because the Merry Men are supposed to be the enemy of the righteous people. In this essay we

Malathion Risk Assessment Essay example
Malathion Risk Assessment
Based on surveillance and monitoring Genercville, the wetlands have become a breeding ground for
mosquitoes. The proposal is to use the pesticide Malathion in order to control the problem of
mosquitoes that could possibly infect the people with the West Nile Virus. The following is my
analysis and evaluation of this pesticide. Malathion is an insecticide which is used in agricultural and
horticultural applications to control mosquitoes and boll weevils (ATSDR 2001 West Nile Control).
The use of malathion by ground application and aerial spraying is generally the preferred method to
eliminate adult mosquitoes associated with the West Nile Virus. It is applied by truck mounted or

Populations living near areas of heavy malathion are at an increased risk for exposure through dermal
contact with contaminated plants, inhaling of the mist from the applied insecticide, or by ingesting
water or food borne residues. Dermal contact is the main type of exposure. Many of the cases or
studies submitted, people have unintentionally ingested malathion (ATSDR 2001). There are some
cases where people have attempted suicide. In most of all the cases, only minor symptoms developed.
Most were involved with workers who were engaged in the manufacturing, formulating or applying
malathion (ATSDR 2001). In 1959 male volunteers were exposed to malathion by inhaling aerosol
bombs that contained 0%, 5%, and 20% malathion for 2 hours a day for 42 days (Golz 1959). The
results of the study showed that the men had minimal effects. They noted that the effects were nasal
and eye irritatation. Studies were also done in Santa Clara County, California to determine whether
melathion increased fetal loss, low birthweight, or birth defects (ATSDR 2001). The studies were
negative. At very high doses, malathion exposure can lead to death. There are many debates on
whether or not to use the chemical Malathion to eradicate mosquitoes that pose the threat of the West
Nile Virus. In Winnipeg, the police had to detain the protesters (CBS News Canada July 20, 2005).

Righteousness Vs. The Covenant Promises
Chantae Alexander
BIBL3213: Romans
Assignment 3
Professor Jesse Heath
5, November 2014 Righteousness vs. the Covenant Promises
The Book of Romans has set the main foundation of Christianity among the Jewish people and
Roman. This book has covered many different laws of the land that God has given his people. Paul
tries to address the many questions that the Jewish people have about faith, laws and righteousness. In
this essay I will address the current question that many people have concerning the right way to
interpret the meaning of righteousness. Since there isn t a right or wrong way; to interpret God
message in Romans, I will state what I feel is the correct way of the interpretation. The righteousness
of God is one of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel that the righteousness of God meaning the righteousness God gives the people is and will always
be the correct interpretation of righteousness, the message that God intended for us to grasp was to
gain his righteousness and not to gain it by default. Proverbs 13:4 states that The soul of the sluggard
craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied (Bible Gateway, Prov. 13.4).
This passage teaches us that the Lord rewards those try. This passage is the reason why, I feel that the
righteousness of God is earned. Simply because Romans 1:17 states that For in the gospel the
righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, [a] just as it is
written: The righteous will live by faith (Bible Gateway, Rom 1.17).
Paul tells us that righteousness is given to the people, by God in verse 1:17. In this passage Paul
reveals the revelation of God; he is the revelation of the righteousness (van Aarde 1). God pardons
those who repent of their sins , while punishing the wicked , [this shows the righteousness that God
gives the people] (Sanders 305). He God gives all a chance to ask for forgiveness of their sins. It is the
righteousness and tender mercy that the Lord has over his people. Some may beg to different and say
that it s the covenant promise that makes us righteous. Because God made a promise to all man before
we entered the world, they feel that righteousness is given. I

Bronte section
The cutting at Bronte is a section of rock face which made of a sendimetary layer known as
Hawkesbury Sandstone. The sandstone is formed by grains of sand being compressed by the pressure
of the surface above where it lies. Over time, the pressure results in the grains of sand being fused
together to form a sandstone. Our group start from chainage 250 to 260. These section can be roughly
divided into 4 section which are list below.
Section 1,250 252.5 chainage
The main features for section1
There are 3 joints located in the left corner of section one, which numbered 1 to 3 and with the dip
angle of 70 90, however, it towards different direction, the first one towards 151 SE, the second one is

fill in with sand and gray. These vertical joints mainly terminated into rock substance on one side and
continued to the ground on the other side. This suggested that there is a large possibility that the defect

Capital University Case Study
1 How would you approach taking on the role of Provost at Capital University and advancing key
priorities?
My approach to advancing key priorities would be multi pronged. It begins with conversations with
you, to help me understand your vision, your priorities and the manner in which you want these to be
communicated. It also involves many conversations across the institution to allow me to get a sense of
where the campus community is in terms of these priorities
I would ask a series of questions including:
1. Does it know what they are? 2. Does it support them or does it need further understanding of the
priorities?
3. What concerns might it have regarding the priorities?
4. What excites it about the priorities?

The Beltway Snipers Three long weeks the Washington area was terrorized by a series of random
sniper attacks. At first, the shootings seemed to be random, but were soon discovered to be
coordinated attacks by John Allen Muhammad and his accomplice named Lee Boyd Malvo. The
sniper s claimed the lives of ten victims over the span of three weeks time, starting the second of
October 2002 and ending around the 23 of October. Following leads, the police found a tree stump in
their back yard that had been used for practicing. The two men were found sleeping in their car at a
rest stop, in possession of guns matching the ballistics of the bullets found at the crime scenes.
According to Crime Museum, in 2003 Muhammad was convicted on two counts of capital murder,
homicide committed with intent to terrorize government or the public at large, conspiracy to commit
murder, and the illegal use of a firearm. (Crime Museum) In March 2004, a judge from Virginia
sentenced Muhammad to death. In 2009 Muhammad was executed by lethal injection. Boyd was also
charged twice with capital murder and the unlawful use of a firearm. Boyd pleaded not guilty on all

Youth Culture And Subculture Developed
Youth culture existed before the Second World War and it did not suddenly appear after 1945.
However, it emerged after that time for various reasons that will be explained later on this essay. There
were many factors of how youth culture and subculture developed such as: demographic changes,
National Service, education and raising the school leaving age, the economic period and music. And
these factors also helped shape people s experiences of them. B Demographic changes were the first
and one of the reasons why youth culture created such anxiety. Because of survived married soldiers
coming back from the Second World War, there was a baby boom , which meant that the number of
people under twenty grew from 3 million in 1951 to 4 million in 1966. (Osgerby, 2005) B There were
two changes that happened and established youth as a group with certain needs and problems. The
first one was Butler s education act of 1944, and that raised the school leaving age from 12 to 14.
Further changes were made in 1947 raising it to 15 and 16 in 1972. Which meant that it allowed
children to go to secondary school. The second change was the development of youth services such as
youth clubs, which made these young people do something useful in their leisure. (Osgerby, 2005) B
Another factor that helped shape the development of youth culture was the introduction of the
National Service in 1948 and that conscripted

associated with Jessica s actions. If an agent or employee commits a tort while pursuing his or her own
interests, the tort is not within the scope of the agency or employment, and neither the principal nor
the employer would be liable. (J., amp; D., 2010) Since this was not the case with Jessica, liability

not singing at all, Matty realized, but the rhythmic and mournful sound they called keening, the sound

end of the novel a quote I chose Wait for the true need, Matty. Don t spend the gift. (Pg.93). I chose
this quote because when Matty and Kira were in the Forest they had to hurry because the Forest was
making it difficult for them to pass through. Matty was remembering what Leader told him to wait for
when it was time to use his gift. This affects him because he doesn t waste it he saved it until it was
the right time to use it. The theme of the novel is one person s sharing of their gift can positively
impact and change the society. In the end of the novel Matty shared his gift with everyone he impacted

Increasing Mobility of Micro-robotics Essay
Chapter Two
The Review of the Related Literature
Introduction
Micro robotics is a field that stresses mobility from being able to fit in tight spaces to being able to
navigate varying terrain. Scientists and engineers are often trying to make smaller and more mobile
robots as seen in the 3cm long RoACH robot (Hoover, 2008), and the DASH (Birkmeyer, 2009) and
iSprawl (Kim, 2006) robots which can reach speeds of up to 15 body lengths a second. A common
method to make robots smaller is to reduce the amount of actuators a robot has to both reduce the size
of the robot and the weight but this has a negative effect on the robots mobility. The smaller robots
become the less mobility they come to have and so in an effort to make robots more ... Show more

This project also deals with the use of inertial appendages in under actuated miniature robots. An
inertial appendage in the form of a tail was added to a robot to study the effects a tail would have on
dynamic steering. Tails can contribute to steering through either a shift in the robots center of mass or
through the transfer of angular momentum. The goal of this study is to provide a model of a legged
robot that successfully uses an inertial tail for faster and sharper turns. Other factors that can affect the
robots movement are also studied such as changing the tail s inertia, the friction between the robot and
the surface, and motor input voltage. There are also two types of tails that will be tested and
compared, a symmetric tail with weights on either side, and an asymmetric tail with half the length
and a weight only on one side. The symmetric tail separates the effect of changing the robots center of
mass as the system is still balanced but the asymmetric tail changes the robots center of mass which
may prove either detrimental or beneficial to the robots mobility.
History of Inertial Appendages The idea of inertial appendages first stemmed from a proposal in 1969
by a paleontologist who said that theropod dinosaurs had tails which acted as dynamic stabilizers
during rapid or irregular movements. (Libby, 2012) This led to the discovery that other animals such
as lizards and cats have been known to use their tails to self right their bodies in free fall.

National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I sports, specifically football and men s

College athletes are the number one reason the NCAA is able to generate such a great amount of

One of the most important artists that appeared was the great Jane Austen an English novelist of
romance based fiction. One of Jane Austen s great writings was the novel Pride and Prejudice . The
novel was based on the idea of marriage and how it was affected by the society. A major idea that was
shown in Jane s novel was the idea behind how certain physical appearances really hid how a person s
real character is. It is clearly shown in the way Elizabeth was misguided with Mr. Darcy s and Mr.
Wickham s appearance on how their Internal character really is as mentioned in the article Pride and
Prejudice: Appearance vs. Reality . By the time most of the novel s events are over Elizabeth comes to
a decision that her primary impact on both Mr. Darcy and Mr. Wickham were incorrect. Jane Austen
clearly concludes on her novel that appearance often tricks how people judge one s real character.
Jane Austen shows romanticism in pride and prejudice through the concept of marriage. in Pride and
Prejudice, we can see that Jane Austen, besides of mainly concentrating on modeling the characters
Elizabeth and Darcy and portraying the complicated love and marriage between them; also pays much
attention to depicting many other roles and three other marriages. In each of these marriages,
properties, status, love, beautiful appearance exert different influence and these four marriages are

Theme Of The White Man s Burden
Le Khuc Hoang Uyen 1AH
The White Man s burden by Rudyard Kipling is a poem that, at face value, looks like a rhetorical
command for white men to take up the grave responsibility of colonizing other nations for their own
benefits. The poem thus does display certain social characteristics of the period, illustrated through
some of its major themes like colonialism, racism and religion.
Colonialism is the most overarching theme of the poem, especially when the poem focuses on white
men s burden of colonizing and civilizing other nations. Strong sentiments about the need for
colonialism is seen in the prevailing repetition of Take up the White Man s burden at the beginning of

The view of colonization as a philanthropist act reflects the Social Gospel idea of philanthropy, which
states that the more privileged, the wealthier has an obligation to assist the impoverished and the sick.
This is seen in the religious reference of Our loved Egyptian night , which reminds us of the journey
of Moses leading the Israelites out of slavery. The comparison between Moses journey and that of the
white men to the native land suggests that Kipling views colonization as a holy act where the white
men lead the native people out of the darkness of slavery, poverty, torture and ignorance. It therefore
displays a more religious view of colonialism and thus does represent the way society was encouraged
to perceive the act of colonization at that time.
In conclusion, The White Man s burden displays a rather enthusiastic support for colonization. It,
however, at the same time indirectly illustrates the flaws in societal mindset and their way of
perceiving the idea of colonization that feature characteristics of a rather aggressive and racist

Life Of Pi Short Story
The True Story of Pi Patel The book The Life of Pi was an exquisite story where a young boy, Piscine
Patel, experiences hardships like no other. Although it begins with a slow start, it takes a drastic turn,
and everything but Pi s faith in God and religion changes. His faith in God remains unwavered,
although he does get angry and doubts God at some points. He tells a story to obtain a false sense of
reality, but reveals the truth to what actually happened at the end of the book. The story he told about
the animals was an attempt to block out the memories of his mother being stabbed to death by the
cook. Nobody who experiences those feelings wants to, and being on a lifeboat with a man who killed
your mother, you would need a distraction. The distraction Pi had was creating the fake story about the
animals and carnivorous island. Due to the extreme detail he put into creating the story with Richard
Parker, it is hard to say it was all a lie, but what he told the Japanese investigators was just impossible.
There is simply no such thing as a carnivorous island, and the odds of coming across another blind
Frenchman in a lifeboat in the pacific are nearly impossible. Although the first story is easier for Pi to
bear, the second, more gruesome one, is the true story of what happened. He had 227 days to come up
with the detailed story he first told, but the investigators stated, We want a story without animals that
will explain the sinking of the Tsimtsum. (Page 168).

because it keeps him mindful of the heritage and traditions of his Corps, and of his duty to uphold
them. In addition, it makes him feel that he is a part of the team and helps to create the strong bond of

The celebration involves the reading of an excerpt from the Marine Corps Manual and a birthday
message from the Commandant; the cutting of a birthday cake by the commanding officer; and the
presentation of the first and second pieces of cake to the oldest and youngest Marines present.
Recently, the ceremony for the observance of the Marine Corps Birthday by large posts and stations
has been incorporated into written directives.
Nautical Terms. Many of the Marine Corps customs are derived from the many years of service afloat.
Even ashore Marines customarily use nautical terms. Floors are decks, walls are bulkheads, ceilings,
overheads, corridors, passageways. The order Gangway! is used to clear the way for an officer ashore,
just as it is afloat. Among other terms in common usage are: two block to tighten or center (as a
necktie); square away to correctly arrange articles or to take in hand and direct an individual; head a
bathroom; scuttle but a drinking fountain, also an unconfirmed rumor.
In the Marine Corps, the nautical expression Aye, Aye, Sir is used when acknowledging a verbal order.
Yes, Sir and No, Sir are used in answer to direct questions. Aye, Aye, Sir is not used in answer to
questions as this expression is reserved solely for

Dylan Klebold Assassination
The morning of April 20th, 1999 was one that will never be forgotten. The day started off as what was
supposed to be a normal day in Jefferson County, Colorado, for the students attending Columbine
High School. Students were piling into the school, chatting with their friends, waiting for their classes
to start. Nobody expected what would happen next. At approximately 11:19 AM, Eric Harris and
Dylan Klebold, students of Columbine High School, began to open fire at students, teachers, and
finally took the lives of themselves around 12:00 PM. The shooters of Columbine, Eric Harris, and
Dylan Klebold s, mental states led them to plan out, and to kill 13 people, and themselves, on the
morning of April 20th, 1999. Eric Harris was born on April ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

They came to school in separate cars and waited for the bombs to go off, which would lead to students
running outside where they would then begin to open fire. When the bombs did not successfully go
off, they began to shoot outside the school, and then entered the school. The shooting lasted
approximately 45 minutes. When the planned events were not successful, the two boys injured more
than twenty students, and killed 13 of them. Right before the attack had ended in the cafeteria, Eric
Harris turned the gun on himself and shot him in the head. When Dylan saw what he had done, he
then killed himself. Dylan Klebold did not suffer from any mental illnesses that we know of. Dylan
Klebold s inability to make romantic relationships, lack of friends, and hatred he had mentally built up
inside of him for his classmates, led him to attack that morning with no warning signs. He was in a
mental state that influenced his attack, with the help of his friend Eric

Judaism Truly Value The Culture Of Non Violence
The wolf shall lie with the lamb and the leopard with the kid. Isaiah 11:6. One of the more commonly
known verses from the Hebrew bible. There are many verses such as this that express the longing for a
culture without violence that is attributed to the ethical values of Judaism. Upon further research
including an ethnographic study it was clear that followers of Judaism truly value the culture of non
violence. It is these ethics and values within the Judaistic tradition for the development of non
violence that are invaluable for contemporary society as they help to create a safer civilisation.
Firstly, the Torah or Hebrew bible has many different examples and teachings on violence, non
violence, punishment and war (Freeman, 2015). Isaiah 2:4 states He will judge between the nations
and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into ploughshares And their
spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war
anymore. The thirst for a world without violence is clearly portrayed in this passage and it appears to
reflect one of the strongest values of Judaism. However in Joel 4:9 10 this idiom is reused in a far
more barbaric manner (Heft, 2004). Announce this to the nations: Proclaim a holy war! Alert the
warriors! Let all the soldiers report and march! Beat your ploughshares into swords, and your pruning
knives into spears; Let the weakling boast, I am a warrior! Of these passages, which shows

Poop Digestion Essay
Chapter 4 Building a Better Poop Digester
Countries such as the U.S. have the resources to build elaborate biogas systems, including syngas
gasification, a much faster process than anaerobic digestion. However coming up with efficient and
inexpensive ways to harvest biogas can be tricky in places where energy is most needed and money
and resources are most scarce. This chapter would show examples of innovative digesters being tried
out in places throughout the world.

Landfills are the third largest source of human related methane emissions in the United States,
according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Biogas from landfills is also called
landfill gas (LFG), as the digestion process takes place in the ground rather than in an anaerobic
digester. As of March 2015, there were about 645 operational LFG projects in the United States,
according to EPA. However, most of these projects use biogas to produce electricity rather than power
natural gas vehicles.
Creative use of landfill gas (LFG) includes heating greenhouses, producing electricity and heat in
cogeneration applications, firing brick kilns, supplying high Btu pipeline quality gas, fueling garbage
trucks, and providing fuel to chemical and automobile manufacturing. Projects range from small scale
community driven initiatives to multi million dollar private investments.
Text Box: Some wastewater plants in the U.S. are set up to burn the methane gas for bigger energy
uses. Several cities use the resource to fuel the city buses. In the UK they are called Bio Buses and can

Protestant Ethic And The Spirit Of Capitalism Summary
The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism
In the enduring work The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism, sociologist Mark Weber argues
that certain elements of the Protestant religion helped give rise to Modern Capitalism. More
specifically, he asserted that the economic system has basic values and ideas that are strongly rooted in
this form of Christianity s principles. However, he emphasized that it was not the sole cause of the
creation of capitalism. Laying the groundwork for his argument, Weber highlights differences between
Protestant and Catholics and their presence in Industry. Weber provides statistics showing higher
amounts of Protestants among the wealthy and capitalists of Europe than those of Catholic faith.

First, the idea of capitalism being a varying system. Weber placed importance in specifying the form
of Capitalism he planned to discuss in this case, Modern Capitalism. I did not realize capitalism could
vary, especially in its origins. Modern capitalism was described as a different form than what other
countries considered it, an almost feverous system of gaining wealth. Furthermore, I realized the
connection between religion and capitalism that I never knew before. The idea of an economic system
having ties to religious beliefs is a foreign concept. Capitalism from the way I view it is all about
acquiring more on the backs of others, an idea at odds with salvation, virtue, and religion. It proved
challenging trying to reconcile the two throughout the reading, nonetheless Weber helped a great deal

Essay on Nellie Bly the Journalist
Introduction To read of Nellie Bly, one would come to think the woman a pioneer in journalism; a
hero for women s rights; and an American icon. These beliefs would be true if not for the fact that Bly
was so much more. She was much more a woman, much more a writer, much more a hero and much
more than most could ever be. Bly not only took on a world of injustice and stereotypes, but
conquered it and changed the way the field of journalism works today. Elizabeth Cochran, a.k.a.
Nellie Bly was the first known female reporter. Bly s life spanned Reconstruction, the Victorian and
Progressive Eras, the Great War, and its aftermath (Kroeger, 1996). And, even though there remains no

In his column, Quiet Observations, Erasmus Wilson portrayed the notion that women of the day were
useless outside the sphere of marriage (Wildemuth, 1999). This infuriated Cochran, and she quickly
sent a heated letter to the editor of The Dispatch, signed Lonely Orphan Girl (Toth, 1994). The
newspaper s editor was so taken with her letter that he asked her to reveal herself, and within a week,
offered her a writing position with the publication (Toth 1999). It was then, at the young age of 20,
that Cochran adopted the pen name Nellie Bly. A Star is Born: A World is Changed Bly was not
content to just write columns for the Dispatch and confronted her editors about engaging in a new kind
of journalism. This new type of undercover journalism, nicknamed stunt at the time, was risky enough
for a reporter, let alone a female one. Bly s first stunt assignment was to disguise herself as a destitute
woman and get a job at a local copper cable factory (Wildemuth 1999). Bly s illustrative descriptions
of the factory s hazardous conditions not only forced the public to take interest in the workers issues
but also increased the paper s circulation. In 1887, Bly moved to New York to continue her journalistic
ambitions. At first, no one wanted to hire the outspoken reporter, but Joseph Pulitzer, editor of The
New York World, saw greatness within the young writer and quickly hired her. It was with his help
that Bly embarked on one of her

The And Randomized Controlled Trials
The authors adhered to the PRISMA guidelines(16) in the preparation of this systematic quantitative
review. Randomized and quasi randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that examined the analgesic
effects of adding SNB to FNB following TKA were reviewed and evaluated using a predesigned
protocol.
Literature search
Two of the authors (F.W.A. and R.B.) independently searched the US National Library of Medicine
database, MEDLINE; and the Medline In Process and Other Non Indexed Citations databases; the
ExcerptaMedica database, Embase; Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews; and the Cochrane
Central Register of Controlled Trials database. The databases were searched using medical subject

Eligibility criteria
We retrieved full reports and abstracts of RCTs that examined the effects of single shot or catheter
based infusion proximal SNB (SNB group) compared to placebo, systemic analgesia, or general
anesthesia (Control group) on analgesic outcomes in patients undergoing unilateral TKA. Only RCTs
where FNB was administered in both groups were included; and RCTs examining surgical anesthesia
and/or postoperative analgesia were considered. We excluded studies if analgesic outcomes (at least
analgesic consumption or pain scores) were not reported; if distal SNB was performed; if the analgesic
effect of SNB could not be assessed in isolation from other concurrent analgesic interventions, such as
local anaesthetic wound infiltration, intra articular injection, or epidural anesthesia; if surgeries
involved anatomical areas other than the knee joint, such as the ankle; if knee procedures did not
involve arthroplasty, such as cruciate ligament repair; or, if adjuvants other than epinephrine were
added to local anaesthetics. Additionally, trials involving non adult patients ( 18 years) were also
excluded. Search was limited to RCTs published in English.
Selection of included studies
Two authors (F.W.A. and R.B.) independently evaluated the results of the literature search. The
decision on including qualifying studies in the review was taken by consensus between two of the
authors;

The Influence of Organized Religion
Usually pain is evident we see it everyday, whether it be a tripping child or yet another attempt at
genocide in a country far away. Sometimes Neosporin is all it takes to treat the wound, other times, the

government fix the intangible? These are issues like shaming, homophobia, prejudice, all left
unregulated. they can t be. But they can be propagated. This is demonstrated by organized religion, or
for these purposes, the Christian Church. A growing issue in America is that these intangible
grievances are becoming far more visible and reachable with every coming day. It is far from an

Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7. This was stated by Jesus Christ, the
basis for the christian faith. It is reasonable to say that acts of love don t make others kill themselves.
It is also reasonable to say that an act of love would be the nurturing of those outliers within the
community, to bring them into the fellowship that promotes better mental health. There are already
many churches working towards improving the way the church treats it s adolescence, and many
others that march along side homosexuals in movements for equality. Those working at Mental Health

Analysis Of Dinner With Friends By Donald Margulies
There were many plays that I could have chosen from, but this one Dinner with Friends by Donald
Margulies caught my attention. I found it so interesting and very well written which made me want to
actually write my director s notebook about. I chose this play because I liked how it was being told.
The way the author wrote this play was very unique. I also liked the play itself because a lot of these
stuff are happening today in the world we live in and so there is a lot of comparing between the play
and reality. I have a lot of ideas on how this play can be performed and different designs which made
me choose this play. I also found it interesting which motivated me to do it. Donald Margulies was
born in Brooklyn, New York. He and his wife, Lynn Street, have been married for twenty one years.
He mentioned that the play he wrote Dinner with Friends was a reflection of the circumstances and
changes of relationship such as his and his wife s since they have been married for a long time. He
also said that there are problems and consequences when people fall apart.
This play is a great play because a lot of people can relate to it.The play is considered a drama. The
play was commissioned by Actors Theatre of Louisville and had its world premiere at the Humana
Festival of New American Plays in March 1998. This play has been revised twice throughout the
years. The first revised version was in October 1998 and the second one that was revised was in
October 1999. Then it

Theme Of Love In Romeo And Juliet
William Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet tells the story of two kids Romeo and Juliet who come
from two households locked in an age old feud. Even though the two families have hate for each other
Romeo and Juliet find love even many obstacles affect them. Certain characters through the story
represented different themes. Tybalt represents hate and anger in the play. The theme of love is
represented by Juliet and the theme loyalty is represented by Benvolio with his loyalty to Romeo.
Juliet s cousin Tybalt has hate in him throughout the entire play, he will draw and kill anyone who he
has conflict with. He hates almost everyone who is not part of his family and he especially hates all
montagues. During Capulet s masquerade party Tybalt spots Romeo and wants him out of there. He
even goes as far as saying, I will withdraw, but this intrusion shall, Now seeming sweet, convert to bitt
rest gall. ( This shows the hate and rage inside of him he will cause harm to Romeo even though he
has not disturbed anyone. After this event Tybalt with his hate for anyone but capulets gets into a
battle with Mercutio where he slays him. Tybalt who still has anger and hate is not satisfied with the
blood that has been shed so he get into a battle with Romeo, this leads to Romeo killing Tybalt and his
later banishment from Verona. The hatred Tybalt had caused a huge obstacle for Romeo and Juliet s
future, this is because he caused Romeo to be exiled and labeled a villain for avenging Mercutio s
death. Lord capulet s daughter Juliet represents love, she showed love for Romeo throughout the play
even though she was to hate the Montagues and anyone close to them. At the Capulet party the two
kids Romeo and Juliet fall in love, they don t care that there is a feud older than them and they find
love at first sight. The two are so in love that they agree to marry each other the next morning without
each other s families knowing. Juliet says, If that thy bent of love be honorable, Thy purpose marriage
send me word tomorrow, By one that i ll procure to come to thee. (2.2.150 153) After Friar Lawrence
marries the two Romeo gets into trouble with Tybalt which ends with Tybalt, Juliet s cousin slain and
Romeo banished from Verona. This

  • 3. CEP55 Essay CEP55 plays a critical role for precise midbody assembly as CEP55 depleted cells exhibited an abnormal midbody structure that lacked visible midbody under light microscope [220]. They also demonstrated the interaction of CEP55 with an orchestra of structural and regulatory proteins essential for accomplishment of cytokinesis. These proteins include Aurora B, MKLP2, PRC1, ECT2, Anillin and Syntaxin 2 which are recruited to the midbody thus implying the importance of CEP55 being indispensable for midbody structure maintenance [220]. Carlton et al. and Morita et al. have independently demonstrated that CEP55 coordinates the final stage of cell abscission. They have showed that at midbody, CEP55 recruits proteins involved in vesicular fission ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Further characterization is required to discriminate the role of CEP55 being direct (facilitates actual abscission) or indirect (regulates recruitment of vesicular trafficking proteins) in cytokinesis. 1.7.4 The structure of CEP55 and ESCRT complex at the midbody As discussed previously, CEP55 forms a complex with ALIX and TSG101 at the midbody to recruit ESCRT machinery to the midbody for facilitating membrane fission events required to assist separation of two daughter cells [212, 223]. Among many other ESCRT complexes (such as 0, I, II and III), ESCRT III plays critical role in regulating cytokinesis as it forms long filamentous structures to allow construction of constriction site [195, 212, 223]. In context to CEP55, ALIX enables recruitment of ESCRT III whereas TSG101 allows conscription of ESCRT I initially which in turn recruits ESCRT III (Figure 1.11B) [212, 223]. CEP55, like other centrosomal proteins is a highly coiled coil protein and is known to exist as a homodimer [218]. Initially, Morita et al. demonstrated that CEP55 is comprised of two coiled coil region joined by a hinge region that enabled binding of ALIX and TSG101 [223]. However, Lee et al. demonstrated that the hinge region is part of the coiled coil region with the probability of being a continuation of N terminal domain (Figure 1.11B) [196]. In addition, Lee et al. also demonstrated that each homodimer of CEP55 binds only one copy of either ALIX or TSG101 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cultural Stereotypes In Germany The nation of Germany is a highly diverse country filled with historic sites and a variety of countryside. from the North Sea to the Swiss Alps in the south Germany is full of all walks of life. • 5. Analysis Of The Book I Am At the beginning of the novel, I am immediately implanted a general impression of McTeague, a clumsily single minded giant, who operates his own dental practice and goes about his daily routine with satisfaction: he would sit at the bay window (1) reading the paper (1) and [gorging] with steam beer (1) and even play regularly on his concertina. Moving his immense limbs (2) slowly and ponderously, McTeague looks like a draught horse, immensely strong, stupid, docile, obedient (3). Worse than that, his mind was as his body, heavy, slow to act, sluggish (2). But thanks to his barbaric mind, he is not saddened by his terrible appearance; instead he feels that his life is quite a success with the dental practice guaranteeing him a stable income, that he could hope for nothing better (3). He is never fed up with his repetitive days, and the only enjoyment in his tedious life probably is to appreciate the panorama of the urban street from his bay window, where the world goes past (6). No matter the various shops or people from all walks of life, from seven o clock in the morning to eleven in the evening, never fail to interest him. Besides that, the other way that could connect McTeague with the outside world is Marcus. Unlike his friend, McTeague is introversive and indifferent to the society and neighborhood, knowing nothing except for his routine. Therefore, he is frequently bewildered by Marcus while listening to his political tirade with admiration; but he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Let the Right One in Analysis Essay BONDING THROUGH EXILE: An Analysis of Mise en Scène in Let the Right One In The theme of loneliness and isolation has been predominant in cinema since its inception, but Tomas Alfredson explores the idea in a unique way in his 2008 Swedish romantic horror film, Let the Right One In. Set in the snowy winter of Stockholm, the film depicts the similarly cold and depressing life of Oskar, a young target of bullying. This frozen, barren setting contributes to the complete isolation that the viewer feels with the characters. Through strategic shot composition and specific color and mood choices, Alfredson shows how both Oskar and Eli are cut off from the world in different ways, and then how their common bloodlust brings them together. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The camera slowly pans around the playground, showing the bland walls of the apartment complex surrounding it to amplify their sense of overwhelming loneliness. Oskar, wanting to find a companion in Eli, provides her with his rubik s cube to solve. The rubik s cube can also be seen as Eli providing an answer to Oskar s problems. Both his life and his rubik s cube are puzzles that need solving, and Eli literally drops in to solve everything for him. This early scene sets the tone for the rest of the movie and establishes both the characters as lonely outcasts that need to be saved. As the relationship between Oskar and Eli continues to blossom, Oskar finds out that Eli lives off blood to survive. After this realization, there is a scene where Eli arrives at Oskar s house. Oskar attempts to let her in by motioning and gesturing but she refuses to cross the threshold. She finally enters without his permission, causing her to bleed from every opening on her face, turning her into a grotesque image of her true vampiric form. This causes Oskar to give her permission to enter. This scene symbolizes the finality of the relationship between Oskar and Eli. Eli is a violent murderer, and Oskar has violent ambitions, and this is the moment where Eli attempts to turn those ambitions into reality. The way the shots of Oskar and Eli are composed suggest a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Responsible Citizenship In Ronald Wright s A Short History... Despite mankind s best effort, the history of mankind is a wrinkled mess. These wrinkles are due to mankind s inability to stop history from repeating itself several times over. However, the idea of history repeating itself is not new to the literature of today s society. There are several more causes for wrinkles in mankind s history. In fact, Ronald Wright argues that not only the idea of history repeating itself, but also the idea of mankind progressing to the point that progress becomes detrimental to mankind will result in the extinction of mankind. Therefore, Wright s argument in A Short History of Progress should shape the discussion of responsible citizenship because his viewpoints show how human ignorance allows mankind to progress towards extinction. Responsible citizenship involves preventing the growth of the negative components of society; however, mankind s progress has grown to the point where it is negative to society. The idea of progress creates an image of society improving and heading towards a perfect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A part of responsible citizenship is ensuring that the society grows and becomes more efficient as it evolves. Wright discusses how mankind has never truly grown and changed because, these things had already been done on a small scale . . . so this spur of art and technology cannot be evidence that we suddenly evolved into a new species (p.39). By these things Wright means the advancements of humankind in several aspects: technological, and social. Thusly, he demonstrates that the progress thought to be brand new to this generation is a repeat of a previous development. Theoretically speaking then, how can something be better if it is just a different a different shell of the same object? It cannot be, therefore mankind is not growing but simply repeating the same cycle over and over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yes, small arms are often used to protect lives, but they are also used equally as much to threaten the lives of millions. In agreement with 6.1.2 (Payne, 2016, p. 73), small arms and light weapons are attractive because they are low cost, easy availability, lethal, simple, portable, and have dual usage. Since they are deemed so attractive, they are in high demand as well. Anyone can get their hands on those said weapons through legal sales or illicit. • 10. Social Class Differences In American Culture In American culture, most parents would say that they are doing a satisfactory job at raising their children; yet, each family raise their children so differently. The differences are clearly seen when compared by class. In the upper classes (high class to upper middle class), children are given hundreds of learning opportunities and are taught to value education at a much earlier age. They are put into expensive day cares that require competitive applications, after school art and sport programs, and enrichment clubs that ensure they are building a foundation that will prepare them for success. These enriching opportunities are only feasible because parents from the upper class have the money and the time to pour into their children, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christina was born in a small town in Southern New Jersey, Marlton. She lived with her mom, dad, and older brother Marcus (Mark). In 2009, Her friend Lauren told her she should make a youtube channel. She never would have thought six years later she would have over three million subscribers. • 13. Hamlet the Sentimental Dreamer Hamlet: The Sentimental Dreamer The Tragedy of Hamlet Prince of Denmark is William Shakespeare s most well known and analyzed work of literature. As the play unfolds, Hamlet has to face the difficult task of seeking revenge against his uncle, Claudius, for the murder of his father, King Hamlet. Hamlet has captured audiences and readers for centuries and has caused much inquiry and debate. Shakespeare s Hamlet is a very psychologically complex character. Throughout the play, Hamlet conveys two different sides; the young, emotional and intelligent prince, who is committed to honesty and loyalty; and his destructive and impulsive side which led to the death of Polonius and nonchalantly sent Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to their deaths as ... This quote means that Hamlet will study Claudius during the performance of the play, and should he change his behavior, he will know that the Ghost s story was true and he can now take revenge. Even despite the fact .that Hamlet now knows that Claudius killed his father, he still delays his actions. This goes on to show that Hamlet is an intellectual dreamer. Hamlet gets a perfect opportunity to kill Claudius but he neglects to kill him because he is in prayer. Hamlet delays in action of seeking revenge against Claudius when he quotes, Now might I do it(pat,) now he is a praying, and now I ll do it/ And so he goes to heaven/ And so am I(revenged.) That would be scanned: A villan kills my father, and for that/ I, his sole son, do this same villain send to Heaven (Ham. 3.3.77 83). Hamlet s rationale for this was that he assumed Claudius was confessing his sins, and his death would send him to heaven. For Hamlet, taking revenge is just not about killing Claudius, but making sure that he suffers, another deeply thought out belief. Hamlet is too much of a thinker and not enough of an actor. Even when Hamlet is given the opportunity to carry out his intentions, he delays and reasons himself out of it. Hamlet does have an almost excessive desire to reason everything through thoroughly. • 14. The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Internationalization... 3. Internationalization of production 3.1. OLI Paradigm There are different ways in which companies can expand their activities to gain some sort of competitive advantage. Internationalization is understood as the process of incremental involvement in a country different from the one where business usually happens. The reasons for companies to seek international expansion vary (Morschett 2007): Resource seeking: the MNC is motivated to expand its operations on the supply side to other countries or regions to secure access to resources. Technology/talent seeking: many companies have an interest in investing abroad for the sake of accessing to strategic assets or knowledge. This is the case for many Asian companies that even though having a vast access to capital and investment in operations, are unable to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The eclectic paradigm (Dunning, 1988) proposes that there are patterns determined by the configuration of the different advantages as perceived by a company and these are the motor for understanding internationalization. Because of more abundance in resources and knowledge, companies have more chances of succeeding in their home markets. Therefore the main point of the eclectic paradigm, proposes that there must exist a competitive advantage that levels the field for a foreign company to compete with local companies and still have a chance of succeeding. These advantages need to surpass the break even of costs for setting up operations in a foreign country. This paradigm contrasts with modern theories of MNCs, which propose that instead of existing a competitive advantage strong enough to motivate the internationalization of operations, the factor behind this company behavior has to do with market failure due to high transaction costs. The Opinion Of The Newspaper Discourse Community Joining the newspaper discourse community was one of the greatest achievements in my high school career and that was only possible by gaining intellect about the community, securing my place on the team by proving myself, and by continuing to learn from my experiences. The first step to achieving my position in this discourse community included familiarizing myself with the intellect and style of writing that was required for journalists. In my freshman year of high school, I took Journalism as one of my electives. This course taught the basic knowledge that comes with journalism that includes journalistic ethics, writing, and skills. I was able to logistically prove myself to the members of the newspaper discourse community by abiding by the ethical values of journalism. I was able to know the difference between slander, a spoken defamatory statement, and libel, a written defamatory statement I was successfully able avoid it in my assignments. Similarly, I studied the Associated Press Stylebook (AP) that is a required resource to know for journalistic writing. Through this, I was able to effectively write my assignments knowing that instead of a thesis, I will have a lead that is thirty five words or less. I knew that my writing would vary depending on the type of story I was assigned. For example, a news story follows a certain quote transition format to emphasize the sources while an editorial piece would follow a different format catering to its persuasive nature. ... He leads the Merry Men in treacherous deeds to steal from those who have the most in the land and give everything they take to lazy, scumbags, treacherous, poor people. Dermal contact is the main type of exposure. Many of the cases or studies submitted, people have unintentionally ingested malathion (ATSDR 2001). There are some cases where people have attempted suicide. In most of all the cases, only minor symptoms developed. Most were involved with workers who were engaged in the manufacturing, formulating or applying malathion (ATSDR 2001). In 1959 male volunteers were exposed to malathion by inhaling aerosol bombs that contained 0%, 5%, and 20% malathion for 2 hours a day for 42 days (Golz 1959). The results of the study showed that the men had minimal effects. They noted that the effects were nasal and eye irritatation. However, it emerged after that time for various reasons that will be explained later on this essay. There were many factors of how youth culture and subculture developed such as: demographic changes, National Service, education and raising the school leaving age, the economic period and music. And these factors also helped shape people s experiences of them. B Demographic changes were the first and one of the reasons why youth culture created such anxiety. Because of survived married soldiers coming back from the Second World War, there was a baby boom , which meant that the number of people under twenty grew from 3 million in 1951 to 4 million in 1966. The first one was Butler s education act of 1944, and that raised the school leaving age from 12 to 14. Further changes were made in 1947 raising it to 15 and 16 in 1972. Which meant that it allowed children to go to secondary school. The second change was the development of youth services such as youth clubs, which made these young people do something useful in their leisure. This project also deals with the use of inertial appendages in under actuated miniature robots. An inertial appendage in the form of a tail was added to a robot to study the effects a tail would have on dynamic steering. Tails can contribute to steering through either a shift in the robots center of mass or through the transfer of angular momentum. The goal of this study is to provide a model of a legged robot that successfully uses an inertial tail for faster and sharper turns. Other factors that can affect the robots movement are also studied such as changing the tail s inertia, the friction between the robot and the surface, and motor input voltage. There are also two types of tails that will be tested and compared, a symmetric tail with weights on either side, and an asymmetric tail with half the length and a weight only on one side. The symmetric tail separates the effect of changing the robots center of mass as the system is still balanced but the asymmetric tail changes the robots center of mass which may prove either detrimental or beneficial to the robots mobility. History of Inertial Appendages The idea of inertial appendages first stemmed from a proposal in 1969 by a paleontologist who said that theropod dinosaurs had tails which acted as dynamic stabilizers during rapid or irregular movements. (Libby, 2012) This led to the discovery that other animals such as lizards and cats have been known to use their tails to self right their bodies in free fall. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the most important artists that appeared was the great Jane Austen an English novelist of romance based fiction. One of Jane Austen s great writings was the novel Pride and Prejudice . The novel was based on the idea of marriage and how it was affected by the society. A major idea that was shown in Jane s novel was the idea behind how certain physical appearances really hid how a person s real character is. It is clearly shown in the way Elizabeth was misguided with Mr. Darcy s and Mr. Wickham s appearance on how their Internal character really is as mentioned in the article Pride and Prejudice: Appearance vs. Reality . By the time most of the novel s events are over Elizabeth comes to a decision that her primary impact on both Mr. Darcy and Mr. Wickham were incorrect. Jane Austen clearly concludes on her novel that appearance often tricks how people judge one s real character. Jane Austen shows romanticism in pride and prejudice through the concept of marriage. in Pride and Prejudice, we can see that Jane Austen, besides of mainly concentrating on modeling the characters Elizabeth and Darcy and portraying the complicated love and marriage between them; also pays much attention to depicting many other roles and three other marriages. Theme Of The White Man s Burden Le Khuc Hoang Uyen 1AH The White Man s burden by Rudyard Kipling is a poem that, at face value, looks like a rhetorical command for white men to take up the grave responsibility of colonizing other nations for their own benefits. The poem thus does display certain social characteristics of the period, illustrated through some of its major themes like colonialism, racism and religion. Colonialism is the most overarching theme of the poem, especially when the poem focuses on white men s burden of colonizing and civilizing other nations. The view of colonization as a philanthropist act reflects the Social Gospel idea of philanthropy, which states that the more privileged, the wealthier has an obligation to assist the impoverished and the sick. This is seen in the religious reference of Our loved Egyptian night , which reminds us of the journey of Moses leading the Israelites out of slavery. The comparison between Moses journey and that of the white men to the native land suggests that Kipling views colonization as a holy act where the white men lead the native people out of the darkness of slavery, poverty, torture and ignorance. It therefore displays a more religious view of colonialism and thus does represent the way society was encouraged to perceive the act of colonization at that time. In conclusion, The White Man s burden displays a rather enthusiastic support for colonization. Although it begins with a slow start, it takes a drastic turn, and everything but Pi s faith in God and religion changes. His faith in God remains unwavered, although he does get angry and doubts God at some points. He tells a story to obtain a false sense of reality, but reveals the truth to what actually happened at the end of the book. The story he told about the animals was an attempt to block out the memories of his mother being stabbed to death by the cook. Nobody who experiences those feelings wants to, and being on a lifeboat with a man who killed your mother, you would need a distraction. The distraction Pi had was creating the fake story about the animals and carnivorous island. Due to the extreme detail he put into creating the story with Richard Parker, it is hard to say it was all a lie, but what he told the Japanese investigators was just impossible. There is simply no such thing as a carnivorous island, and the odds of coming across another blind Frenchman in a lifeboat in the pacific are nearly impossible. Although the first story is easier for Pi to bear, the second, more gruesome one, is the true story of what happened. He had 227 days to come up with the detailed story he first told, but the investigators stated, We want a story without animals that will explain the sinking of the Tsimtsum. (Page 168). ... There are many verses such as this that express the longing for a culture without violence that is attributed to the ethical values of Judaism. Upon further research including an ethnographic study it was clear that followers of Judaism truly value the culture of non violence. It is these ethics and values within the Judaistic tradition for the development of non violence that are invaluable for contemporary society as they help to create a safer civilisation. Firstly, the Torah or Hebrew bible has many different examples and teachings on violence, non violence, punishment and war (Freeman, 2015). Isaiah 2:4 states He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into ploughshares And their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. The thirst for a world without violence is clearly portrayed in this passage and it appears to reflect one of the strongest values of Judaism. However in Joel 4:9 10 this idiom is reused in a far more barbaric manner (Heft, 2004). Announce this to the nations: Proclaim a holy war! Alert the warriors! Let all the soldiers report and march!
